Easiest class I have ever taken. Mrs. Sullivan herself difficult to rate because she did little teaching herself. We were never tested and she usually just had a guest speaker doing a lecture. She makes this class as easy as possible. Show up, do a few clicker questions, and walk out with an A.
This class should not be a concern for the average student. The lecture was intended to introduce the different areas of study. The only grade was attendance (with one freebie). The lab, although new curriculum, was also too easy to get an A. Don't stress and enjoy the class (and easy A).
She's ok, the class is rather pointless though. And oh my lord, the people that set up the programs to be used for the robot are actual idiots. Following the code that they give us for the robot, irks me. They don't know proper syntax and their nomenclature is awful. They gave us a skeleton code to go by, and I had to change everything.
This class helps you understand what engineering is. Guest speakers come in and help you find the engineering major right for you. Professor Sullivan helps students find what they are passionate about by bringing in clubs and providing information with opportunities! Must attend class to pass, lab is a little hard, but you will be fine, just try!
Ms. Sullivan is an awesome professor! You only need the textbook for like one quiz. However, the book is not meant for the course but rather a guide for you as an engineering student. So don't be mad that you spend a ton of money textbook you don't even need to pass the class, BUT RATHER BE GLAD THAT IT WILL HELP YOU ON ALL OTHER EGN CLASSES!!!
She is a super sweet and genuinely understanding professor that offered me solid advice in regard to choosing a major. It's super easy to pass as long as you go to lecture and use your iClicker. The worst part of the class was the group project, but it comes down to the TA and teammates you get (they are random). Great professor, and great person!
Very easy class with guest speakers every week. Attendance is done through iClicker questions. Mrs. Sullivan herself does not do much of the speaking, but the guest speakers give a good idea of what to expect out of the engineering profession in general.
This is the nicest professor I have had. She is so nice. You do have to show up to take the iClicker quizzes which are completion anyways. Great class.
The most caring professor you will probably ever meet :) Her lectures are great and she really cares for her students. Its really a just-show-up-and-pass class, just be sure to have your I-Clicker all ready for the lecture questions.
She is incredibly sweet and friendly, her class is only 1 credit but it is a requirement for engineering majors. The lab is not as fun but that's with a TA. Overall, I really liked Mrs. Sullivan and she is an amazing contact to have at UCF, she cares about all of her students even after you've had her!
Such a sweetheart! She introduces all kinds of opportunities for us to get more involved in the university. She has us watch the lecture videos and take a ten question quiz afterward. There is no zoom meeting, so it really doesn't matter what time your class is. Jacqueline Sullivan is the kindest professor you will ever have!
Prof. Sullivan is one of the kindest and most caring professors you will ever find. It was such a shame that her class is currently asynchronous because the energy she radiates is amazing. She is always in her office hours and is willing to chat. Lectures need no notetaking and the class is an easy A.
Probably one of the nicest and most caring/understanding professors you will ever get (which is good since she's the only one to teach this course). Provides many resources to help you grow in the future such as insight to other majors and job opportunities. Extremely easy pass
Mrs. Sullivan is a very kind and caring professor. Her recorded lecture videos are full of good information. Her EGS 1006C/EGN 1007C classes are very easy, although the Laboratory components, which make up the majority of the grades, can be tricky at times. Overall, she is fantastic!
Professor Sullivan did an excellent job teaching EGS 1006C. She gave a lecture and a quiz each week that was easy and worth 30% of the grade total. Lab was 70% of the grade, and was extremely easy to pass (50% basically being guaranteed). This class was pretty interesting and an easy A. Work time: 1 hour/week.
There wasn't really much to this class because it was all online but Professor Sullivan was definitely helpful for first year engineers. If you still have no idea what you want to do, don't worry because she will give you TONS of opportunities to get involved with clubs and other organizations. - Highly recommend.
Professor Sullivan is very kind. Always makes it know that she is available to talk and find out where you can get the help you need. Gives lots of good information on opportunities on campus and is definitely a friendly face you want to know on campus.
This class was a hot mess online. So much work for a 1 credit class and made me so stressed with the assignments using software I never had experience with and they didn't teach! Onshape, Excel, Matlab just terrible structure and just expected you to understand after a confusing TA gave an hour explanation!
Asynchronous over COVID, easy videos to watch every week. also exposes you to things on campus that you wouldnt know about otherwise.
Professor Sullivan did a great job teaching EGN 1007C. The quizzes were quite easy an informative. All in all, an easy A!
Mrs. Sullivan is the "soccer mom" of the engineering faculty, as she always has a wealth of advice and tips ready to share with her students. Her lecture videos can be lengthy but the quizzes are not too bad. The lab portion, however, did present its challenges of requiring us to complete the GOTR project individually. Easy class, nonetheless.
Fantastic instructor. Always excited in her videos and dedicates time to talk about opportunities and events that would be on campus that week. She wants to meet every student and help them in any way possible. Just have to watch the video she sends out on Friday and take the quiz by Monday based on the video. A great way to learn about UCF.
Really nice, but what is this class even for. It's literally just 50 minutes of me sitting in a lecture hall listening to a few club presentations. The only place you get graded on is your attendance in the lecture, and your lab grade. I'm sure this class would be more fun if I didn't take her 8:30 section. Again, really nice, but just why.
Yes Professor Sullivan is a very nice person but there truly is no purpose of this class. For the lecture portion of this course it is just constant lectures from guest speakers and organizations, which will be quizzed on. The Lab portion was SOMEWHAT interesting as we got experience in soldering and coding. A lot of BS & time wasted for a 1 crd/hr
Class is lecture and lab. Lecture worth 30% of your grade and is strictly attendance quizzes. Lab is 70% of grade and you do assignments, but all the grades are attendance quizzes. For reference, weekly attendance quizzes: 650 points. Our final project that we spent half the semester on: 60 points. Got a B cause I missed 1 class.
The lecture side of the course is very easy and consists of Pr. Sullivan talking for a little bit, watching a presentation, and taking a quiz on the information. The class isn't bad, just unneeded and honestly feels like a complete waste of time. Easy A if you show up.
Very caring and told me about opportunities I did not know of to help me despite my busy schedule, lab 70% of grade and final project is hard to do if you do not have someone who can code but the TA's are helpful. Grade in lecture is based on attendance but sometimes questions are too specific so make sure you listen to the speakers
Professor Sullivan is a wonderful and kind lady that really cares about the success and well-being of her students. The lecture has guest speakers that talk about the different engineering disciplines as well as the clubs and resources on campus. The lab consists of doing Excel lessons and a group robotics competition at the end as a final project.
Very kind, passionate, and caring professor. She tries her best to help beginning engineering students by exposing us to numerous clubs, events, and department heads at UCF. The lecture involved no work, but the lab, which is under a TA is where all the work is done. Even so, it is not difficult.
A very nice and wonderful-hearted teacher. Wants the best for her students and has amazing lectures to help undecided engineering students. The lab is fun, even thought the robots are a bit finicky. But yea really cool course to learn all about the engineering profession and types of engineers and what they do and companies and such...
Professor Sullivan is the most caring professor I have had. Her lectures are all about letting students know about the resources UCF offers. The lab is make or break depending on what TA you end up with. It's a pretty simple course but you will not pass if you skip class.
Really enjoyed this class, the lectures were very interesting for the most part, and the labs are fine depending on the TA. The lab grade is based on one final group project. You can't skip any of the labs or lectures if you want to pass though.
This class tries to be more than it is. The prof raves about how this class is necessary to graduate, but in reality, you can just take a tech elective instead. If you're between majors and one doesn't need it, skip out on this class and take a tech elective for one more credit hour later on and boost yourself in the long run.
Easiest class ever but at the same time the most worthless thing you can take. Professor does not actually teach you anything that's relevant. She gets paid by UCF to have guest speakers run her lectures and TAs run her lab. Her guest speakers are unrespectable people. Lab project comes out of your pocket for something no one cares about. Worthless
She's really sweet but the class requires too much. The boat project at the end of the semester requires a lot of things that they do not prepare you for and most boats never end up making it all the way. Nonetheless, most points are awarded not based on performance but on reports and can still get an A without having a good boat Just stressful IMO
She cares about the students and is really doing what she does for the betterment of her students. Great professor.
Wonderful and caring woman that is passionate about engineering. Not her fault the course she teaches is structured horribly. Attendance quiz (4 questions) at the end of every Friday class consisting of the lecture material from either her or guest speakers. Lab for this class is literally building a boat from scratch as clueless freshmen.
Sweetest lady there is. If you go to her office hours, she will remember your name and recommend you internships for your major. Attendance quizzes after every lecture. Building a boat in lab is hard as a freshman, but she and the TA will help if you ask. Great info in class to keep for the future as engineers.
Really easy class, the only grades are attendance quizzes. The professor clearly cares about the students and is easy to talk to if you need something.
As I've said before, Professor Sullivan is a wonderful and kindhearted lady that puts in her full effort to help her students succeed in any way she knows how. Super passionate about what she does, and she will support you even after you leave her class. The lectures are informative and the lab is focused on the main project to build your own boat.
Lecture Hall is presenters with an attendance quiz on canvas. Labs are controlled by the TA. It's a gamble but the teacher is well-liked and important to know as an engineering major.
As for the Intro to Engineering Profession class, Professor Sullivan seemed to be a pretty nice person, although there wasn't very much interaction or listening to her because this class 90% of the time consists of listening to clubs, frats/sororities, and people in the engineering profession talk. This class was fairly easy, not one to stress over
This class is a free A as long as you show up to both the lab and lecture.
Professor Sullivan is really nice and she cares about her students. Make sure to be on time and go to class, attendance is mandatory. For the GNOR make sure to pick your group WISELY. There is little guidance for making the boat, so you are on your own. The assignments not related to the boat are very simple though.
Easy class, don't be scared of the boat project, it doesn't have to succeed or even be good. Just make sure it floats and it shows a true effort.
If you're reading this stressing about your first year, take a deep breath you're going to do great. Mrs. Sullivan and all the TA's are there to help you if you're having any trouble. This class is supposed to be as fun as it is informative. Be excited about engineering and the projects you'll do because it's great! You got this, seize the moment.
Very easy A all you have to do is show up.
Mrs. Sullivan is very enthusiastic and caring. The lectures can be boring- "this could've been an email"- but they do show you what each type of engineering does. The lab can be very easy if you have high school experience in coding or CAD. Finding group members who do will help you immensely on the final project.
Most engineering majors are going to be forced to take this class. All I can say is when taking hard classes you sometimes want to lose it when you waiting outside a 3-D printing lab for 2 hours... for a easy one. Other than the annoying parts it's a easy class, lectures are boring, and labs are neat but wish there was more time for final project.
Professor Sullivan is very kind but for the lab section of the class your TA will make it or break it. Previous CAD knowledge is super helpful in the lab because it isn't taught very well (with my TA at least). The lecture grade is basically just attendance and its weighted 30% lecture, 70% lab for your final grade.
A professor who cares! Lectures are informative and offer different perspectives/sections within engineering. The lab is easy, but as the final project comes it is a little stressful. Best to time-manage and get what you can done early. A nice intro to engineering course that I enjoyed.
Lecture was boring but an easy A. Only annoying thing is she always runs over time and its hard to stay awake if you have it early in the morning. Lab was run by TAs who are saints. Make sure to get a good group for the final project bc its easy enough but can be annoying if done with unproductive people.
Same as 1006C, lectures are still just shoutouts to clubs & student resources. Labs are still run by casual TA's (broke upperclassmen). Just show up for attendance even if it's early or late in the day & find another good group for projects because they will also be your friends going forward. This will be your 2nd easiest & most fun class. Easy A.
Prof. Sullivan is an engaging speaker but lectures are just shoutouts to clubs & student resources. Labs are run by casual TA's (broke upperclassmen). Just show up for attendance even if it's early or late in the day & find a good group for projects because they will be your friends going forward. This will be your easiest & most fun class. Easy A.
Professor Sullivan is great- really nice and enthusiastic. Her class, however, could have been an email. It's mostly clubs advertising to try to recruit new members. Most students in the class ignored her and went on their computers or phones. I'd be surprised if this class did not see major changes soon.
What really defines this class is the final group project that takes up the majority of the semester. I really enjoyed it because I like hands on projects and that's what this class gives you, as you and your team are constructing a boat. Lecture is boring but go for the attendance points, but just be cautious when choosing your lab group partners.
The final project can be stressful depending on how well your group is able to code/build a boat. It's a good idea to make sure the people you choose for your group will not procrastinate and will actually help. You also need to buy your own materials. The lectures are super boring but absolutely mandatory to do the quizzes and get attendance.
The class in itself is very easy, the lectures although extremely boring just require attendance and include a post-lecture quiz all pretty straightforward. The only irritable section is the lab, the write ups combined with other classes can feel extremely tedious and rather annoying to finish depending on group participation same with the boat.
Easy A if you do everything in the lab, lectures are extremely BORING, they have some pretty interesting clubs though in the slides. The lecture really isn't necessary its only to promote CECS clubs which is understandable. Waking up at 8am every Friday to go to a lecture that could just be put into an announcement is kind of pain in the butt.
This course consists of Friday lectures that have required attendance and a lab section with Excel assignments and a robotics group project near the end of the semester. The lectures introduce you to different engineering professions, though they can be boring. Professor Sullivan is also very caring and will help you with your project. Easy A.
The course was fun, got to build a boat. Be prepared to meet with your group outside of the scheduled time.
The lectures were a bit boring, but the robot race was nice.
Lectures are boring but graded, you build a boat as your semester project. If everyone in you group participates it will be super easy.
This class is harder than EGS1006C because the lab portion focuses on a boat racing project that lasts the whole semester. The difficulty is heavily dependent on your group members, so choose wisely. The lectures are mandatory and introduce the engineering clubs. Reasonable difficulty, but a lot more work than I was expecting for 1 credit hour.
The lectures introduce students to interesting disciplines and school clubs, which can be either interesting or boring. The lab is pretty easy, with basic tasks that are mainly graded on completion. Attendance is mandatory, and you have to intentionally try to fail the class. Professor Sullivan herself is very kind and engaging with students.
Lectures were fine but sometimes slow. Register 1006C and 1007C(the following class you are supposed to take in the spring) early otherwise you will be stuck with a 7:30 AM Lecture on a friday. Sometimes a later time slot will open up but don't count on it.
She is such a sweet professor. The lecture portion of the class can be a drag, but it is an easy one-credit course. The lab section is more enjoyable; however, some of the TAs don't have the best understanding of what is happening. She's caring and nice during office hours and wants to see students be their best selves.
Mrs. Sullivan is really sweet and wants the engineering students to succeed! The lectures are a little tedious, but they do have useful information and the attendance quizzes are easy. The lab portion of the class is also easy, your TA will help you with assignments. Make sure you attend class and prepare to meet with your team outside of class!
Sullivan was a sweet teacher, she clearly cares about all her students. The lab portion of this class requires group work but is very simple and extremely easy to score well on.
The lecture portion of this class is hearing clubs speak on what they do and at the end you answer a super simple attendance quiz. The lab portion is not hard either all you have to do is pay attention and do minimal assignments. The final is a group project but is also fairly simple.
Incredibly boring class. Every lecture is someone new trying to convince you to switch to a different type of engineering. There is a mandatory attendance quiz at the end of each lecture. Your lecture grade is very dependent on that. For the lab portion, the grade is very dependent on the final project that they don't give a lot of information on.
Do the excel and quizzes somewhat and you're fine
Lectures were just engineering clubs introducing themselves. Labs are the majority of the grade but you work in a group, it's not that difficult I visited Mrs. Sullivan during office hours just to ask a question and we ended up getting into a great conversation getting to know each other. She is definitely someone you want to stay in touch with.
Prof. Sullivan is a kind and supportive instructor who genuinely wants her students to succeed. Her lectures are full of helpful resources, like clubs and campus opportunities. However, the final exam was confusing, with unclear rules, and she could be hard to contact outside of office hours.
Prof. Sullivan is a kind and supportive instructor who genuinely wants her students to succeed. Her lectures are full of helpful resources, like clubs and campus opportunities. However, the final project was confusing, with unclear rules, and she could be hard to contact outside of office hours.
Very easy. Make sure to pick good group members. Super nice professor, try to talk to her as she has a lot of information about UCF and engineering.
Professor Sullivan is such a sweet soul, she truly helps with any questions you might have. Yes, lectures can be boring but they are helpful if you want to know more information on clubs, events, internships, etc. The boat project was also awesome, truly had a great time.
Super caring prof. Wants to see you do well and willing to do a lot to help. The class can get tedious near the race, longer nights and can be a real pain if you don't know what you're doing. Start the boat early.
She was enthusiastic and cared about student success, often sharing opportunities to get involved. Attendance quiz at the end of each lecture. Boat project needed clearer build instructions and more lab support. Start early and coordinate with your group—don't fall behind. Grade is heavily based on boat performance during race day.
Sullivan is very nice and cares deeply for her students. Grading is done mostly by the TA's but was very fair. Attendance is mandatory and a massive portion of your grade, and you spend most of the semester building a boat as a group project. Try to get the same lab slot as your friends so you can be in the same group.
She is so sweet. Everything in this class is done at lab, during these lectures she goes over slideshows of clubs and other things to help new students. There is a quiz at each lecture and that is the only grade put in.
Boat project! Lectures are presentations/slideshows followed by an attendance quiz at the end. Labs are boring, but give you a lot of useful info (pretty much show you exactly what to do) to build the boat. They cut you a lot of slack for the race so don't lose too much sleep if your boat can't go all the way. Should be worth more than 1 credit hr!
Professor Sullivan is extremely nice and cares for all her students. The TAs handle most of the grading but are fair. Attendance is mandatory for both lectures and labs, and are a major portion of your grade. The entire semester is spent on the boat race group project which is another major grade. Start your boat early and don't procrastinate.
Lecture is on yt live and lab is in person. Never interacted with the teacher only TA but this class is good if you're still unsure of majoring in any kind of engineering which I realized this major wasn't for me.
Go to her office hours, she's super kind and really cares about her students!
Easy class, show up to the lecture for attendance quiz. Do the work in lab, easy 100 in class.
This class is great if you're planning to become an engineering major but are/aren't decided yet. The lecture is online and the lab is in person. If you just show up to both parts and do the work in the labs, you'll easily get an A. The TAs are nice and grade fairly.
Mandatory class, but it is a good one if you actually pay attention and don't mess around during the lecture portion.
She is super kind, very lenient with grading towards the end of the semester, and always welcoming during her office hours.
Professor sullivan is awesome! the lectures are online, so it's hard to fail unless you mess up on the attendance quizzes. she's passionate about engineering and it's an easy class anyway, so no complaints.
Made the YT lecture a tiny bit more bearable. Hated the mandatory attendance part, but lectures were informative at least. Likes to engage with students outside lectures, like in the final robot project and other engineering events.
Lectures were online through a livestream and the labs were in person. Lab is the most important part as it is worth 70% of your grade so make sure to show up and participate in your lab. Lectures and quizzes were easy, but barely interesting most of the time. Overall though, it was a nice and easy class.
easy class, just be sure to attend atleast most of your lectures and labs. the duck launcher project might seem overwhelming at first, but the tas are extremely lenient and will make sure you pass, even if everything goes wrong (as long as you put in effort). just register early so you dont get a 7:30 lecture...
Lecture part of the class is online, and lab is in person. Both have attendance quizzes. The lectures will teach you all about engineering at ucf. The lab will teach about excel, resumes, and teamwork. Teamwork is important when you learn on how to code a robot which will have the structure your team built to deliver ducks to the points arena.
Easy class mostly just attend the class, the duck launcher project seems like a lot but Pro. Sullivan and the TA/GTA's do a great job getting you through the lab. The lectures were really boring just watching a online livestream.
