very hip, very nice young teacher. knows the material inside and out. future looks good for her. oh, and very pretty too!
Jackie is a good teacher, Im terrible in English and still managed to get a good mark, very helpful and but a little tough of a marker, just put a effort in and your fine.
Jackie is great. She knows the material, and she has high expectations but is very clear about what they are, so if you put in effort it'll pay off. She gives great handouts and is responsive to student feedback, helpful and a fun class. She really encourages group discussion.
really good what she does, and makes a more boring subject fun and tolerable. very helpful with lots of handouts and easy to chat with.
Very nice, very approachable in class and out. I would definitely take a class with Jackie again :)
Awesome Prof!! Super helpful and likes to help students out.
She a FOX! Class is interesting, but she marks papers hard.
Awesome Prof! I am a science student and was scared about doing English. However, English with Jackie was awesome. She really boosted my confidence!
Jackie is awsome! She seems perfect, she is smart and beautiful. She is caring about her students, and enjoys teaching. The course content can be difficult, but she is always willing to help.
She is so far the best teacher i have ever had at UCFV. She made me fall in love with english, now it is my major and the reason i know what i want to do with my life. I highly recommend her.

Jackie is an amazing prof! One of the best, if not the best, at UCFV. I DEFINITELY recommend taking a class with her. She's fun and has clear expectations. She makes the material really interesting and enjoyable. I had her for Eng 105 and Eng 120 and I enjoyed both very much due to her teaching style. Very pretty as well:)
JACKIE'S AN AMAZING TEACHER!! Make sure you take her!!! She's the best in the English Department by far
Jackie is a wonderful teacher. she really cares about her students and the readings she picks out are always interesting. i would take more classes of hers in a minute1
Jackie is such a great, helpful teacher... she really does care about her students and wants them to do well.
Great :) First day of ENG 105, she made us interact with all of the other students, which is nice because it helps everyone become more comfortable with sharing in class. She cares about her students' education. She may be a hard marker sometimes, but she is thorough in explaining where you go wrong, and clear in assignment criteria. Pretty! :D
Jackie knows what English is all about and explains it in a very understandable way. Although she has high expectations and is a hard marker, you learn A LOT from her class and she gives lots of feedback (never negative!) This class had tons of awesome group discussions. Take Jackie for English!!
She's a fantastic teacher. Makes the subject interesting and even fun in some cases. You can't go wrong having a class with her!
I've had the privelege to get to know Jackie this semester. Jackie is a FAIR marker and she really cares about her students. Her expectations are very clear, and Jackie preps her students before exams and assingments to make that they do well. Jackie's style is fabulous and she is very pretty! If you take English, take it with her!!
She's a great Teacher. I really had some doubts going into English 105 because I heard horror stories about this class, but it was really good. She explains assingments well and is really easy to talk to if you need help. She's a fair marker, by no mean very difficult but not easy either.
After hearing some negative stories about other english profs for english 105, a couple of friends recommended her. She is a great teacher, easy to understand, and has high expectations of her students. She's also very pretty!
Best professor I've ever had. I've taken this class once before, and dropped it cause it was so boring. Jackie is AMAZING. So helpful, so nice, and I am learning a lot! Her class doesn't fit in with my schedule, but I took it anyway. Best decision ever. Go out of your way to take this class. You WONT regret it.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. She is amazing. She is always willing to help, makes class interesting, and is a fair marker.
Jackie was the best teacher i ever had for an english course. i hated english before i took her course and she made it so awesome. eveyones points of views on everything were heard. you can tell she loves to teach :) try to get into her classes if you can!
Jackie helped me so much this year with basic writing techniques that I was not getting from my Eng 105 prof. She takes time out of her busy schedule to spend helping her students, and lets you re-write papers for full redemption. She is an amazing teacher and brings light to this otherwise bleak institute of a school.
She's super nice and makes sure everyone's opinions are heard.
Jackie is great. Really wants her students to succeed. My first English class. I hope others are as good as her. Very nice person. I would definitely try to get into another one of her classes.
Jacqueline is the ideal English 105 teacher. She's interesting, encouraging and fun, and makes sure her students have the foundation writing skills needed to succeed in a university setting. Take her class if you want to learn how to write proper essays, summaries, and analysis papers.
She's wonderful. :)
She's really great. Really helpful. She's clear, she actually understands that it's a first year class. She picks interesting things to read, and interesting essay topics
I had Jackie for 105 and I thought she was great. Very clear in her expectations and made use of the textbook a lot (so you didn't feel like you wasted your money). She was really accessible via email and in her office. She gave me useful criticism for my research paper draft and it definitely improved my grade. I recommend her!!
Best English teacher ever! I took a lot of fun courses this semester and ironically she made Academic Writing the the most fun one. She's very clear in her expectations and if you follow them precisely, you will do extremely well. Classes are entertaining, great sense of humour, and very adorable. Highly recommended!
Jackie is an amazing teacher. She really wants her students to do well and will definitely create a good foundation for your academic writing career. When she assigns work, she makes sure that she is clear and concise about her expectations. If you ever need help, she also makes herself readily available. Very approachable and sociable!
Very good prof, definitely difficult to satisfy. I got a B+ with her & an A with another prof, but it felt like Jackie considered me a B+ student after the first essay and just never decided to change her mind. My essays writing definitely progressed while my friend's digressed, but he received an A+ on everything. Make sure you ace the first essay
wow, she was a great teacher for my first year english course, clear on what she expects, and explains papers and assignments very well when assigning them. great teacher! funny as well :)
Jackie is the best English teacher I have had by far. Expects you to be very clear and focused on the papers you right. The big idea is that everything relates back to your thesis. Very helpful and your writing should be much better after taking a class with her. I did better in her class then I did in any high school English class. Awesome prof
Great teacher, really easy going didnt have to do much
Felt like high school all over again. She was pretty clear on expectations but didn't always explain too well.
Jacqueline's class was enjoyable. not a huge amount of work. fairly picky marker but overall good instructor.
clear and simple. show up and do the work. its not rocket science at all. she is very helpful and willing to work with students. even dummies like me ahah and shes attractive. oh my goshhhh
Amazing prof! She is very clear with what is expected, is always offering extra help and definitely wants to see her students succeed. Take her class if you can!
Jackie is an extremely helpful teacher, and gives great feedback on everything she marks. If you want to improve your grade, just pay attention to the edits she makes. My time in her ENGL 105 course was thoroughly enjoyable, I'd take a class of hers again.
Would especially recommend to first year students. Jackie is clear and concise so you know what is expected. She is very willing to help went to her 2 times during office hours for help on a paper and she was more than happy to give pointers. She makes class enjoyable but also doesn't waste time with pointless stories. Used to model.
Jackie is very helpful and super super clear on what she expects for assignments so as long as you follow her guidelines/criteria you'll get a fair grade!
Honestly the best English Professor you can have. She is always willing to help you achieve the grade you would like, and is always willing to clarify any thing that may be unclear to you.
Good/cool teacher. Would recommend.
Overall a really good teacher and would take again!
Jackie made a boring course more lively and interesting. Her mannerisms and some of the things she says make you leave class with a smile. Like all writing courses, be sure of what the instructor wants. Ask and Ask again. Strong writing skills will go a long way but perhaps this should have been honed in high school, with a lot of good reading.
LOVED HER CLASS!!!!
Jacqueline Taylor is an excellent instructor. Period.
She was super nice and the course was presented in a clear and organized way.
Jacky is an awesome prof who really wants her students to succeed. If you put in the effort and meet with her during office hours you can get a solid mark. Overall, the class really helped improve my writing and it has carried over to my other classes. The classes were usually a little short and as long as you participate its an easy 10%.
Jackie a great prof, the course involves a lot of writing but she will help you get the grade you want if you meet with her and show her you care. Classes were usually short but she was very organized and got all essays marked ASAP and returned to you which was super helpful
Jacqueline is a great teacher, who really knows her stuff and is always willing to help. He classes never go the full time and you rarely have to take notes. There are a couple of papers you need to write so stay on top of that, but will help you if you have any trouble with them. She is a fair marker. Put in the work and you'll get an A
Jackie is a great prof. I doubted her current rating during the first few classes but throughout the semester I can see why she's a 4.5+/5. She teaches the class well and even goes the extra mile to help you personally on your own paper, no matter the subject you're writing about. Started off a little sketch but finished strong. Highly Recommended!
Jacqueline is a caring and supportive teacher. Very approchable and incredibly nice. Will put in the extra mile for students. In addition will do everything in her power to give the mark you want as long as you put in the effort. A lot of assignments in this class, but again she will help you every step of the way and her criteria is very clear.
There are quite a few essays to do for this class, but the final exam is an essay she allows you to prepare for, so not bad. The essays themselves take a lot of work but you will be rewarded if it is done well. I strongly advise people to go to her office hours before a paper is due because she is very helpful. Very quick email responses as well.
Great Professor. Most understanding professor I've had. If you need an extension, she will provide it so long as you're a good student. Gave me more opportunity than I deserved and very kind.
She is a great prof, one of my favourites. She gives extensions on assignments if you ask and gives you good feedback. She makes her class fun and the assignments she has you do are simple and easy. She grades fairly and cares for all her students. English is not my favourite subject but I really enjoyed her class.
She is definitely one of the most caring profs and one of my favourites. Helps out with editing essays even in the class time, but if you see her in office hours she will basically tell you exactly what to do. She likes giving handouts over electronic notes and you can't have a laptop out in her class but 100% recommend English with her!!!
Jackie is hands down the best eng prof. She gives enormous amount of feedback on all papers. To be the most successful I would recommend seeing her in her office hours.
she is the best English professor in the whole faculty. so polite so helpful would definitely take the course again because of her. she helped me a lot and she was always so polite. don't be afraid of committing mistakes in her class because she will never make you feel like you made one.
great
Jackie is a great teacher! She gives good feedback and is accessible outside of class. She explains exactly what she expects from her students. She marks fairly and even allows her students to rewrite and resubmit essays that they do poorly on. Her final is an in class essay that she goes over beforehand. Easily one if my favourite professors
Jackie is an amazing prof. Normally I hate English and hate writing papers but she made the class extremely enjoyable. If you go to her office hours she will look over your paper and tell you exactly what to do to succeed and is very forgiving with extensions and re-writes. As long as you show up to class and participate its an easy A.
So far Jackie has been my favourite professor at UFV. She is super nice and super caring and is really good at explaining. She gave everyone a chance on our first paper to rewrite it with her notes to get a better grade. She goes over the readings in class and explains the process very well. Highly recommend taking her class!
Jackie is by far one of my favourite profs so far. I usually hate writing English papers but she made the class enjoyable with topics that were very interesting. She is accessible outside of class, gives good feedback, allows rewrites and gives extensions. Her final is super easy because she lets you prepare before hand. This class was an easy A.
Jackie is one of my favourite profs. I usually hate English but she made the class enjoyable with topics that were very interesting. She is accessible outside of class, gives good feedback, allows rewrites and also gives extensions. Her final is super easy because she lets you prepare before and allows notes. This class was an easy A.
Jackie is very particular about papers. She expects everything to be written a certain way and is an extremely hard marker. She is very kind and lenient on due dates and re-writes. Ask her as many questions as you need because despite what some of these reviews say receiving an A is not as easy as it seems. Be prepared to work for your grades.
Jackie is so caring, helpful, and is an expert. Her lectures are very engaging, organized, clear, concise, and informative. She gives great feedback and is very encouraging. She is very accessible both in and outside of class and gives all the guidance and help needed. She gives good variety of choice for essay topics. I recommend her class 100%!
Marks all papers extremely hard and can be disrespectful at times by refusing to help when required.
Jackie is an amazing professor who cares about her students. She gives a lot of feedback on papers and gives you opportunities to improve your grade. I would take a class with her again.
She has a way of explaining ideas and concepts that can be grasped easily, not to mention, she is very quick to help when you are struggling. As a full -time worker/student, she was available to meet outside office hours if needed. She also allows extensions, if you are an attentive student. You do not necessarily need the textbook.
She's so amazing. She literally gave a second chance to the entire class for the assignments they'd like to submit again. Would take again
One of my favourite professors. She made me enjoy writing essays and gave amazing feedback. If you don't score as well on an important essay she gives you the chance to rewrite it based on her feedback and corrections.
i took her class based on her great reviews on ratemyprofessor however, she is one of the hardest profs i've ever had. She grades extremely hard. I've heard from many others who are also in her class currently and they are also struggling with her grading. She does let you redo most things but her grading is so hard it doesn't even really matter.
I took her class a few semesters ago, but I had to come back and give her a good rating because I'm currently in a really bad English class and she is a reminder that amazing English professors do exist. She was so lively and always smiling, and when marking she gave good, constructive advice. If you need to take this class, take it with her.
For the most part, this class wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. Jacqueline is very kind when it comes to due dates. Most often than not, she allows redos on important papers. Speaking of, your marks are based on three papers and participation within the discussion board. She also gives really good feedback!
One of the worst professors. She contradicts herself when giving feedback on papers and it is not helpful. She gets the students to do peer reviews on discussion boards but never comments on anything herself so. There is nothing that she had done to make the online course engaging.
Not the best for online but maybe she is better in person. Her grades are weird too, she will say A-/B+ or c+/B- so you only sort of know how you are doing. Also the feed back is not overly helpful and she doesnt know how to keep students engaged in the online format.
At first, Jackie can come of as rude. Although, I learned to not mind Jackie. She is very knowledgable. She also is very helpful and available for feedback before submitting assignments (make sure to give in advance). One thing I would say about her is she is a tough grader. But attendance and participation is 20% of the grade, it's an easy pass
She's nice but is a tough grader. Online and in-person might be a bit different, but if you are online, participation in discussion posts is worth a lot of your grade. Her posted lectures are always over 50 minutes long. She gives good feedback on your assignments and lets you redo them.
I took this course completely online. There were not many assignments so the papers you do write are worth a lot of your grade. The thing I did not like at all was when she graded assignments, she would not put a specific grade but rather write A-/B+, etc. It was confusing and you could not tell how you were actually doing throughout the semester.
Her online format is not great and it is hard to stay engaged. She gives confusing feedback that and contradicts herself a lot. Would be amazing if she was involved with the discussions. It really felt like she was only half present for the course. I finished the course feeling like I learned nothing useful for writing papers.
Jackie is a great instructor and I really enjoyed her class. Her expectations for assignments were very clear, online video lectures were super helpful and she gives a lot of good feedback (even before submitting the essay). I will definitely take a class with her again.
Immensely helpful, always there to answer questions, and elaborate on a point she made if I did not understand at first. Responded to emails outside of class very quickly which helped me a ton when editing my papers. Overall one of the best professors I've had.
Jackie is amazing and super compassionate. If you come to class and do your assignments you will be fine. She will read your papers and give you feedback before submission. There were readings for almost every class but if you miss one or two it didn't affect class much. Easy and fun for English 105.
Good and caring professor with tons of experience. Clearly shows the criteria for assignments. Very flexible with extensions and writing about your own topic. Easy to reach outside of class both in person and by email. Must take prof for first year English.
I was really nervous about doing English 105 because it had been a while since I was in school. She was very good at explaining what we needed to do and offered lots of feedback. Easy to talk to and quick to respond to emails. Excellent teacher and would definitely do this course again! Highly recommend
Great teacher! Very understanding.
Took her in 2021 in my first sem. She may seem like shes "angry" in her teachings but shes just passionate about English. very knowledgeable, does mark hard, leaves feedback though and when you ask for help shes more than happy to provide it. A little stern but does it bc she wants you to succeed.
Professor Taylor is probably the best prof I have had at UFV. I took her English 105 course in my very first semester, and she was extremely caring! She gave great feedback and would clearly state her criteria. Her lectures are very important as she gives a lot of information that can be used in your essays. Her classes are mostly workshops.
One of my favourite profs! Her lectures are short and fun, she keeps them super interesting every time and explains all the material really well. Every essay was discussed several times in class which made the expectations really clear. Her feedback was also extremely thorough and helpful on each assignment. Loved this class would highly recommend!
I enjoyed taking English 105 with her. She is quick to reply to emails and gives very detailed feedback that helped me improve my writing. It was a great experience for a first year English course. Overall, I really enjoyed the class and would definitely recommend her!
I loved Jackie, I felt she was a super fair marker and gave second chances to make up marks if you did bad on assignments.
Do not hesitate to take a class with Jackie! She is super generous, and caring. This class was a breeze, and you genuinely learn a lot about how to write. She gives second chances for assignments, and gives a ton of feedback beforehand and afterwards! Definitely recommend.
Jacqueline rekindled my love for writing that I lost throughout the years and I genuinely think she's the best prof I've ever had. She will give you fantastic feedback and improve your writing a lot. Sit at the front of the class, attend every lecture, and enjoy. Her lectures are just phenomenal and she outlines what she exactly expects of you.
Great class that is very well organized. Jackie is super easy to reach over email if you have any questions and answers fast. Very personable and caring teacher. Would highly recommend her class.
Jackie was the best prof I've had so far! She is so understandable and easy to talk to. Highly recommend taking her class.
Best prof I have ever had. Very caring and gives extra clear instructions for students to succeed. I used to be the worst at English but this class was great. If you're looking for the perfect english prof and you're nervous for this course, take Jackie 100%!!
Jackie was a very good prof! She is easy to reach out to if you have any questions, and she always provides very clear instructions. In English 105, discussions make up some of your grade so stay up to date with the readings she provides. She is very understanding and cares about student success. Overall, I recommend her!
Amazing prof, very fair grader and gives amazing feedback on assignments. She's very understanding and kind.
toook her in my first sem at UFV. shes super cool, love her! i had a rough time first sem navigating a work life balance but she helped me alot. workload is fair. no textbooks required although i do regret not buying the citation guidance book she told us to buy as it wouldve definetly helped me in further studied if i did. no complaints! xx
Best engl prof hands down, I was on the verge of failing my math class, and Jacqueline gave me an extension for the final assignment. I ended up going two days over the extension deadline and she still marked it. Best prof if you want to learn and succeed.
Jacqueline is a great professor. She's compassionate, knowledgeable, and fair. She provides excellent feedback on assignments, helping you improve. She quickly answers questions and returns grades. Her instructions are clear, and she's understanding of personal issues. I highly recommend Jacqueline as your professor!
she is a great prof, she is very clear with instruction and gives a lot of time for assignments.
make connections with her because it will determine your success/ grade in the class. Overall the work is fair and the time given is also fair. The book she recommended, you will need a page or two of so if you can work around that then ur set. No midterm or final, just a combined profolio of your work over the course.
Jackie is an amazing prof! She gives very good feedback to improve your writing and answers emails fast. She knows her stuff! Her lectures are engaging and assignment expectations are clear. You do need the one text for the research essay, but it's helping me in other classes so I'm not bothered purchasing. Overall, great person and prof!
jacqueline is kind, understanding, and overall was a great professor who gave clear instructions and insightful feedback. The class had many group assignments, but all of the high stake assignments were personal essays. participating in class discussions will make this course more enjoyable, and ask for help if needed as she is very knowledgeable:)
Jackie was really kind and understanding and clearly cares about her students. She fostered a positive environment in her class and low-stakes in-class group assignments encouraged us to get to know our peers. The workload was fairly light and she is always really helpful with any questions! Definitely recommend taking her class.
best first year english prof imo
Jacqueline is a kind and approachable professor. Her grading criteria is fair and the workload is manageable. She offers a lot of help throughout the course and gives plenty of time to work on assignments and papers. I would recommend her class to anyone, especially students who are new to University.
Professor Taylor is an attentive and caring instructor. Her clear feedback and engaging lectures helped me improve my writing skills. I found unstuck ai to be a helpful study tool alongside the course materials.
Jackie is the best professor you could ever ask for. Her classes are engaging, and the course load is very manageable, especially for new students. She responds to emails in a timely manner and is always willing to answer questions. She is super sweet and laid back. Would absolutely take her class again.
Very concise and clear. Sets clear expectations and gives good feedback. Peer-review sessions are also all extremely useful, I appreciate their inclusion and she is generally just very supportive and helpful. I wasn't a very good student in terms of attendance ngl and she still treated me with the same respect as every other student.
Overall had a great experience with the teacher, and I can see others have as well with all of the positive reviews. She made English class something to look forward to. Her teaching style was great, and is one of the best that I have had at UFV in my first year.
She is nice but doesn't like giving A's on assignments. Her essay topics are worded in a way that stops AI from being able to help you. There is no homework but we do small assignments in class that are usually with a partner. I feel she grades too hard from such an introductory english course.
All around amazing prof and one of my favorites at UFV so far! She makes the course interesting, the material relevant, and she clearly wants her students to succeed! Also, very good feedback on essays. Make sure to come to class and participate in the low stakes writing assignments and you'll do well.
Approachable, encouraging, really interesting class work. Well organized and generally made classes enjoyable and worthwhile. Gave amazing, detailed feedback and encouragement.
Jackie is amazing, her lectures are informational and her class is organized very well. She is quick to reply to emails, gives super detailed feedback and is very accommodating to extensions. The best prof I've had so far.
Nice teacher and responds to emails fast but she doesn't give out A's just a tough grader for such an introductory class.
Jacqueline is an amazing instructor who clearly cares about her students. She gives excellent feedback, classes are engaging and worthwhile and she is encouraging and understanding. One of the best I've had for a first year class!
Gives great feedback and is a great person overall.
Amazing teacher and made my first semester a great experience. She is super sweet and has the best interest for her students. I highly commend taking ENGL 105 with her!!
Would highly recommend this teacher
Jackie has the sweetest soul and is a wonderful professor, her assignments have clear detailed criteria and she responds incredibly fast to her emails. She is very easy to talk to and wants to see each person succeed! The out of class reading is highly manageable and the course is relatively average difficulty if you actually participate!
Highly recommend taking a class with Jackie! She's very helpful and replies to emails within a few hours. Her class was very engaging and there's in class work almost every class that can be done as group work. Overall an easy class as long as you show up and pay some attention!
Jackie is an amazing professor. The class consists of four main assignments: a literacy narrative, annotated bibliography, research essay, and final portfolio. She gives plenty of time to complete each. She is a tough marker but the workload is light. She's extremely kind, flexible with extensions, and there are no midterms or finals. Take her!
Jackie is a great prof who is caring and quick to respond to emails. There are many assignments that are to be completed in class, so there isn't much homework outside of class other than the 4 bigger assignments. She is a tough grader, however provides detailed feedback to help improve. She's also very flexible with deadlines.
