She's down-to-business and you have to do a lot of reading in the class. She gives extra credit. Quizzes almost every week.

If you pay attention to the lectures and take good notes, the tests aren't very hard. Weekly quizzes upon which the final is based on.

Excellent. Very consistent with testing based on topics covered in class. Pet peeves: talking in class & not knowing the syllabus. Only things covered in power point presentations & class lectures will be on scantron tests. She's not trying to trick you.

Totally cool teacher. Great style. Knows how to keep a class in order, and keep the talkers quiet while the "students" try to learn.

You know what i'm very mixed about this teacher. She taught good, but i left that class feeling i knew more geology than oceanography. At the time she didn't really seem qualified to teach the subject. She does base 98% of test material on notes, and 99% of the final is questions from previous tests

Good class. Completely field trip based. She gives you a certain number of points and it is up to you to go sand get them. I am female and noticed no sexism and oceanography is an offshoot of geology. She knows her stuff, but she can be uptight.

Online class. Read the directions twice and follow them to a "t" and you will do fine. There is a lot of work involved but as long as you do it the right way, you'll be fine.

Great Professor!! Easy, fun and interesting.

Prof. Hams has created a class that allows students to thrive if they are willing to do what is asked of them. She is very clear about what is going to be asked of you. If you do what she tells you to, you will do well. She is a caring and understanding teacher. She is bright and fun and has a real understanding of the material she is covering.FUN!

I really enjoyed Ms. Hams. Her teaching methods are very direct and her tests are straight-forward. Her slides are colorful and vivid; it helps you to remember key words for the test. At the end of the lecture, there is a slide review to clue you in what's going to be on the test. It helps if you print the slides out.

Had a great time in class and got an A. She likes people that put in effort, what a suprise!

One thing about Mrs. Hams that I will admit to is that she hates stupid questions especially those she answered already. Don't read/buy the book, study her lecture notes and an A you will recieve.

If you are a sensitive person, please, try to avoid this professor. Even though I got an A in class, she made me go home sad or even cry over her disrespectfulness. She has no patience, especially with younger students. As to the subject, if you only do her notes (which, by the way, do not follow any grammatical rules) you will easily earn a B.

This was the lab to oceanography 1. The EASIEST class you will ever take. It's a cool class because you only meet half the semester and you can do all field trips if you like instead of labs or you can do a combo of both. Anyone who doesn't get an A in the class isn't trying.

DON'T LISTEN TO THE OTHER COMMENTS! this class is not easy, it requires photographic memory skills to succeed. the first quiz alone given on the 3rd week has way too much material to memorize. if you have ever smoked pot don't bother, she moves way too fast through notes, and too much computer crap.

I do not know why everyone is bashing this teacher, if you read the syllbus and the modules completely you will know exactly what is expected of you for this class. People think that you can just take an online course and pass easily but in fact you have to put more work into it, duh! The teacher was very fair and the class was structured nicely.

I don't Know why anyone wouldn't like thise professor. Yes true a lot of work, but she's trying to squize in 3 months of work in 5 weeks. I loved her class and enjoyed learning. Yes you need to read alot but it's very educational.

I will never take her again. I've requested information several times and have never received an answer. She teaches each class on a whim and blamed certain things not being ready on the change in locations of the course itself.

She is a tough teacher, but she wants to challenge her students, not just let them slide by on "good enough." You MUST go to class. You MUST study. But if you do, you WILL get an A. I struggled, but I still loved this class. Prof. Hams is a great teacher if you are willing to do the work. Not a class for the undetermined.

I had half a semester with her due to her leaving on an expedition or whatever. She tends to talk down to people and is not very helpful. The class itself is very easy and i didn't study vigorously. She give a 100 multiple choice test (doesn't grade it) first and last day of class, it's mostly for her to see progress.

Professor Hams has been by far the best science, guess you can say, teacher! At first she was very strict and even had an encounter with her teacher side but over all she is very sweet and helpful. She doesn't talk down to people she just really pushes you to do things on your own. Which is the purpose of college after all.

You'll have an easy quiz every other week where you can guess as many times as you want. No homework at all. MidTerm/Final are questions from each quiz that you get to study. Easy Final. The professor isn't as mean as people make her out to be. Her class is extremely easy. Passing with an A, but I don't think I've learned a whole lot.

This professor is an excellent teacher I am so happy I had her !!

She's an amazing teacher. Shes nice and funny. You won't regret taking this class.

I had Jackie Hams for Ocean lab and I can't complain. Yes she can be grouchy sometimes but the class was super easy, mostly in-class technology activities with maps or the NOAA website. My favorite part of the class is that you could take field trips and write papers if you skipped regular classes. I totally went to the aquarium and science center.

Everything in this class was done on computers so it was a little confusing at times because she wanted things done a certain way. Overall she is a very easy professor and gives us so much extra credit that it is impossible to fail. It's an easy A.

Make sure to get a book with an online access code, she uses the program for the book a lot.

Online format was straight forward. Professor was available to answer any questions on assignments. She is resourceful on requisite math and science courses needed to transfer out as a Geology major. Read the assigned text thoroughly and you should not have any problems.

Professor was helpful and provided useful resources for Geology transfers. The online format was straightforward - just be sure to read the assigned text carefully. Also, Unstuck AI was a great study tool.
