Dr. M is a great teacher. The courses are tough but she is fair. She loves what she does and it shows. She always makes herself available for questions and works with the students who need and want help.

BEST teacher at LV...can be hard but is very fair..do NOT take the class if you are not a biology major..gets you really prepared for advanced COLLEGE classes...teaching assistant was great as well

Dr. McLaughlin covers alot of material fairly quickly, but in such a way that makes even complex concepts easy to comprehend. I probobly learned more from her class than any other class that I have taken.

Dr. Mclaughlin is one of the best instructors i have met. She expects a lot out of her students, but if it wasn't for her hard work ethic and passion for biology, i wouldnt be as good of a student as i am now. Every class that i have at UP seems rather easy in comparison. If you dont have a good work ethic and want to get better, take her courses.

She is a great help if you have questions so don't be afraid to ask. She was there no matter what my question was, and have an open mind during the chick lab, if you show interest it really helps and it is fun!

Overall the class is not easy. It is not middle school biology. The amount of the material and concepts to learn in only one semester!. But if taken advantage and succeed in the class, you will survive in any biology class at any level during your Bio degree. The combination of professionalism and knowledge provided by the professor is priceless.

This class so far is wonderful. I would highly recommend anyone who is a Biology, Chemistry, or those interested in the healthcare field to take it. It presents very useful and tangible material which is both challenging and rewarding. The professor teaches in a manner, which makes the most difficult biochemistry fun and interesting.

Without a doubt, this class was the most rewarding and important class of my life. Dr. M has a way of helping you really learn cell, developmental and even molecular biology. You won't want to miss a class! It's silly that she takes attendance. Everyone wants to be there!!

Very demanding of her students which prepares them for higher level courses as they progress through college. This makes the transition from lower level courses to higher much easier. FUN! This course was a field study in China, and was an absolutely amazing class! The professor is awesome and extremely passionate about her work! It is very different and difficult to assimilate to another culture, but the professors and guides were very helpful. I am a business student, but found that I was able to understand complex science.

The best science prof! She's passionate, energetic, fair, fun, tough, intelligent, professional, and most of all cares about her students. Having had many of her classes, including the Costa Rica field course, I have seen firsthand all the qualities that make her an outstanding prof. and as a person. I love this course. I wish I could take it again. If you are serious about biology, then you want to take this course. This course is not hard but you have to put in the time and work. If you put in the time, Dr. M will put in just as much time, if not more.

I traveled to China with Dr. M for Global Environmental Sustainability. We had to do a lot of research before hand and keep a journal everyday we were there, but the work was worth it. She is very passionate about what she does and has fun when the work is done.

She is a tough grader on the essays on the exams. She expects much from her students but an overall great professor. She cares a lot about her students and for them not only to do well, but also to learn from her class.

I took her online BIO 141 course, and she was beyond helpful with her video explanations, promptness in emailing us back, and helping us through our questions. Super helpful, and worked with our schedules/due dates.

This is a very interesting class. Although the course material is tough, Dr. M does a great job at giving students the opportunity to do well. As long as you keep up with the readings the class should not be bad.

I took BIO 141 as an online course during the summer semester and it was absolutely wonderful! Dr. M is an amazing teacher and she really loves the subject matter at hand.
