if you understand his style then it is easy to get an a.just study the class note and definitions. it depends on you what you get nothing do with the teacher.
Dont take any CLASS>.....he's boring... he doesnt know what hes talking about.... if u want a B .....no probs for you... but A means somthing in this calss.... do not xpecvt any type of cooperation from him ....any type...
Dont ever take this guy. He is not worth it. Doesnt teach, plus when he teaches, its all wrong. His grading scales is messed up as he doesnt check the grades correctly. Plus its hard to understand him as he doesnt know how to converse in English.
OOFTA. This guy does not have his act together. Had a summer class with him and we went read the slide show provided in the textbook, did not attend very regularily. Hopefully you wont have any questions becasue he never has an answer.
Teacher does not teach the class very well and is hard to understand. Class consists of 9 weeks lecture, 1 week tests, 5 weeks presentations. Tests were T/F. 85% for B and 91% for A.
Horrable! You will not be able to understand this Korean guy - don't even try! And he will read you a book - you could do that better. I got a C - I had only 84% total. Nightmare - he is not a teacher and should not be teaching. Shame on SCSU!
Dont take this class with him. You cant understand a word he says, and the same old examples get old after a while. Tests are true false and you cant study for them. If you do end up taking this class good luck.
If you can stand sitting without understanding what he says... go for it. His tests are almost exactly the same as his study guides (word for word!!) If you take him... way easy tests.. go to class even if you dont understand him, he does the homework!
I don't speak ill of professors often but Song is an incredibly poor teacher. He cannot converse in English and cannot communicate with the students in any way. One will not learn in his class, unless you already know the material. Choose Yoshimoto.
took a summer session with him, i couldnt imagine a whole semester wiht him. The class is easy but he says "ya know" a crazy amount of times each class. I counted over 250 times in a 2 hour class
Msybe tries to explain things to much but will take time with students if the schedule with him. Also his class is fairly easy for BCIS material
If you can get past the fact that he has a accent as do the majority of the teachers in Herberger he is a fairly accesable professor who will help you if you come to him with intelligent questions.
He seems to know his stuff and is pretty easy. Just show up.

Does a decent job with a boring subject. I mean statistics is boring no matter how you put it. If you attend it is a easy A and was willing to take time to explain things to me.
Excellent Prof. Know subject and is very passionate about it. Gives quality study guides. Note: If he laughs after he says something it will be test so write it down! Hard to understand at first, just ask for clarification, he will help.

I understand he knows his material well, but he doesn't have a clue about how to teach it. Awful, I didn't learn anything from the classes. Notes were not helpful either. I had to dig into the book myself. HWs are solved for you in the class. Exams were quite easy, becoz most of the questions were the same as the ones he gave in the sample quiz.
His tests were easy because he gave out sample tests with the exact questions on them. The homework was easy because he went over it step by step in class ahead of time. The lectures about killed me, though. For 2+ hours, he read right out of the book!

he basicly does the homework for you, most of the sample test questions are on the real tests, but now you cant use notes so memorize the samples, and learn the material on your own, cause your not gonna learn it from him! bring a pillow to sleep in class, attendance required.
Doesn't explain things very well, doesn't like to help students, hard to understand, and wears the same shirt every day.
It's not a difficult class if you can manage to overcome the sheer boredom of his lectures and learn the material on your own.
Very boring class. He reads right out of the book. Says "Oh I know" all the time. Attendence is mandatory, but you can have friends sign the sheet for you. Homeworks are easy if you go to class when he shows you how to do them. Tests are pretty hard but he gives out sample tests.
Pretty easy, but boring. The class was suppose to be 1 hour and 50 minutes long, NEVER stayed there the entire class period. Homewok he basically does for you and tests are not bad because he uses A LOT of the questions from the sample test. I never really did well on the tests, but homework and attendence gave me a B! He is also hilarious!

Terrible! Can't understand him, and good lucky making it through a class. Does lots of examples but pulls numbers out of thin air to make it work. Does give practice tests, but both are hard. Better off teaching yourself Business Stats!
He is absolutly the worst teacher I have ever had! You can't understand most him and his writing is extremly difficult to read. When you ask questions he says things like "study harder". He stands in one spot the whole time and makes lectures extremly boaring. If you want to learn stats take someone else! The tutor should have taught the class.

If you want to do good show up to class and half the exam answers are directly from the study guide. He does give you the answers to asignments. Don't take him unless you have no other choice.
He is kind of funny. But very hard to understand, and probably the most boring professor I've ever had. It doesn't help that the subject is so boring... I'm sure every teacher can't make the class very interesting. The tests are the same as his sample tests though which is pretty cool

I did terrible on exams and honestly did not put ANY effort in. I should of failed but passed with a c. if you don't care to learn anything or if you think you might be able actually understand him then take him
Song's lectures are not very interesting but his testing is pretty straight forward (You can talk him into extra credit sometimes, too). He takes attendance but it's not mandatory. Take notes and pay attention to his exam reviews.
Required stats class for business was straight forward and not that hard. A boring class but the testing was fairly easy.
Song is a nice professor and you can tell he tries his best to help people learn. He is actually pretty funny and has a good sense of humor considering it's stats. Anyone will pass if you are not afraid of getting out of bed to go to class in the morning... and don't fall asleep once you are in the class.
Material not very interesting but Song does a good job explaining concepts with many examples. If you pay attention, he does throw in a lot of jokes which helped with the dull subject. Easy homework. Tests can be tricky but not at all impossible. He has an accent but it isn't bad. Curved the class a little bit at the end.
Shows step by step how to do homework the day before it's due, gives practice test (about 30-40% of the questions are on the test). Don't go to his office to ask questions, he's not helpful, but he's good at explaining things to the class

Someone who is talking about grammar who writes in all small letters the is like kettle calling the pot black. Also it is IS not BCIS department. Song's lectures are boring, but the class is laid out in front of you with all the materials on the test given to you in the assignments and homework given in class. Easy Mode.
Ok, this is a business statistics class not an English class so "grammar" is the last thing one should be worried about. Class is easy, but boring. Hey its statistics but it is necessary stuff to know when going out into the field, and Song does a good job explaining and showing the concepts.
As stated before, practice test are key to his exams. Still walks you through the homework. He does take attendance and it is now counting towards your final grade (new this semester I guess??) He was upset on several occassions that there was no one there.
You'll be fine with understanding him and it won't matter anyway because he doesn't explain good enough. Show up to class, do practice tests, do the hw assignments and you'll be fine on the tests they're all multiple choice. He seems rude sometimes but he's nice one on one just a typical old man. Take him if you just want to be done with this class
Teaches the class, but not well. If you would like to learn the subject matter I would say to take someone else. Yeah you can pass the class but you will walk away without having learned much. Tests are multiple choice, has practice tests which have most questions from test. Oh and only can buy custom text book from husky bookstore. Hard to re-sell
The MOST boring teacher ever. You basically have to teach yourself. He is horrible at explaining and makes no sense. If we didn't get points for attendance, I would never go.
This class is boring but it is easy as he shows you everything that will be on the test. If you want to be done with this class take him. He takes attendance.
Well 4 tests about half the questions come from the practice tests he gives you, 5-6 easy hw assignments he does for you in class, attendance is taken. He often cuts class early so its not a bad idea to take him. You dont learn to much in his class. Take Paulson if possible, but Song would be your next option!
Not mandatory but he takes attendance. Hard to understand, mumbles and talks with accent. I never learned much when i went to class. Sample tests are exactly the same as tests give or take a few questions, so i just memorized answers. able to squeak by with a C. homework is easy just dont forget to do it.
Professor Song is a great Prof who means well and has a sense of humor, however, his accent is nearly impossible to understand at times which makes the material very difficult to learn. The homework is extremely easy if you can remember to do it and about half of the questions on the tests come straight from his practice exams.

Out of the five years I spent at SCSU, this was the worst professor I've had. He was rude to students especially during presentations where he would interupt presentors and berate them. Entire semester, he'd just stand at his desk and read from slides. Powerpoint jockey is a good description. But his tests were easy (60 T/F) and his slides helped.

Very hard to understand b/c of his accent. The material is hard enough as it is without trying to understand what he's trying to say. Tests are hard. Does allow one page of formulas for tests, and about 30-50% of tests are the same Qs as the practice tests. Shows step by step how to do homework in class.
The class was really easy as well as the test. He shows you what you have to do in the class as well. Accent is a little hard but you can get used to it.
Barely used the textbook. Didn't learn much. The homework was useless. Average class scores on exams were 70% or lower. I worked my butt off for B. I would not recommend him.
Probably the best statistics teacher at SCSU, take it with him if you have the chance.
He covers material required to walk away with the knowledge. He uses a program called minitab that is ancient for technology available that would ease the learning of this introductory course. His literacy and communication skills are dicey but understandable. Fortunately for him, IS requires little. For teaching though he seems a little suspect.
Hard to understand, especially at first. Cracks a few jokes with dry humor. Over the semester, I learned to like Song. You won't actually learn anything, but listen in class. He does your homework for you, it takes maybe an hour total for the whole semester. Study from practice tests, 75% of the real test comes from it. DONT BUY BOOK

I can't quite understand why I'm in this class. I literally cannot understand what he is trying to teach and his material hops all over the place, with minimal relation to the textbook. Exams are all true/false. We spend 85% of class time watching him struggle with the overhead and repeat IT buzzwords to himself. Absolutely pointless course.
His class is easy and required for the major. Pay attention to the homework and his tests are easy. Take his class and move one with life.
Has difficulty explaining the lecture material, but if you study from the textbook you should be fine. Expect to do problems at the end of the chapters and the practice tests if you want a grade of a B or better. Shows you how to do the homework step by step. Expects students to attend every class.
I really struggled to understand him, he also didn't seem to understand people when they'd ask questions. I stopped by his office and even one on one he didn't understand what I was asking. But he does all the homework for you and a bunch of his tests come from the practice test. His textbook is confusing as well.
The Homework is ridiculously easy. He is hard to understand and does not answer questions well in class. For tests you have to really use your formula sheet because they are HARD.

Focuses class with humor. A relatively slow pace in lectures which is good for ESOL students and those who need extra time to fully understand (genius students - be patient). Attending lectures is necessary for clarification and always a pleasure as the professor makes Ling111 entertaining.
Oh man, I think this was the hardest class at SCSU I've taken so far. I struggled to just get a C. He gets easier to understand as you attend his class and he is hilarious at times. Although, nothing is assigned to help you with the work so by test time you better make sure you have his sample tests down and master them.

Take online in the summer. Only four assignments and four tests. Hard subject but easy class. Much easier than taking it in class.
Lectures are extremely long and dry. He doesn't do or assign problems related to the test and the practice tests he gives, so the questions often feel completely foreign. Tests are mostly multiple choice, and homework is pointless probability simulation. You still need to attend lecture because the textbook is often extremely useless and unhelpful.

Horrible! He doesn't care about students. I went to his office hours, but he doesn't provide help much. You have to work hard by yourself. He is useless. So mean. You have to buy his custom made textbook which is around $200 for a one time semester use. Very hard to understand him because of his Korean Accent. He knows what he is teaching but its hard to understand what he is conveying when you can't fully understand what he is saying. I barely pass with a C, don't know what he is teaching most of the time.

The worst professor I've ever had. Probably going to fail because he can't teach. Most of the class has dropped.
I had him for 242 and I was scared to need to take him for a major course. I took this class online though. The online HW is super easy and he wants to bare minimal, maybe 1-2 sentences per assign. 2 tests, but they're all true/false in the proctored exam room.
Very few points in the class so every point matters. Teaches quickly but is willing to help if you have questions.
This class was taken to fulfill IS242 requirements for transfer students. Was only 1 credit, half a semester. There are two homework assignments (50 pts each) and two exams. (100 pts each). If you follow his directions, use the book, and read his powerpoints you will do just fine! Also, exams are proctored!!
He is the worse professor that you can find at st. cloud state. He doesn't know how to teach, is very rude, exams are very tough and ask him a question and he will end up giving you the most rude reply. Save your money and take this class from a professor who actually knows a thing or two about his course.
This is an online class for a required credit for any business major. The class in of itself is structured easily and straight forward. There are four parts and four tests. The practice tests have a lot of hints if you actually study. Do the work and you will pass and move on through the Business school.

His lecture style is hard to follow sometimes, but he explains the material well and is entertaining. The homework was pretty easy and the exams weren't too bad. I would definitely recommend getting the book to fill in the gaps in his lectures/get another perspective. Class almost always ended 45 minutes early (2 hr class). He answered questions.
Book is not helpful. Rely on online resources to figure out class content. Homework is relatively simple and gently graded but tests are not based on homework at all. Tests are 1 hour and have a 1.5 hour open window to take it. Make sure you plan around it. Prof is easy to contact and was helpful figuring out course materials before class began.

This class is divided into four sections, each with one homework assignment and one test. The tests are not very challenging, but you do have the opportunity to use your textbook during the exams. The homework is not difficult or lengthy. Overall, if you put in the effort, the class is not tough.
