Class was Discrete Mathematics. Completely unorganized. Wastes roughly 30% of class time trying to get the computer/projector to work. Has an oral part to your exam (yes, oral exam in a math class), that is worth 25% and which he grades extremely harsh and arbitrarily. Unless you are a math genius, avoid at all costs!
Very stubborn, says you have a test on one day and then changes his mind the next day and doesn't care what you think about it. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
He has a horrible accent that you can hardly understand. His homework on mymathlab is crazy long and takes hours. His tests are short but each question is worth alot. Overall hes a horrible teacher who makes no sense if you have the chance to take another teacher I would take the chance.
Awesome teacher but very strict. Very helpful
Worst professor I have ever had I had a high A all year then his stupid policies brought be down TEN WHOLE POINTS. I still got a B in the class but I had to teach everything to myself all year. You can hardly understand him because of where he is from. Sometimes he doesn't even know the answer to the question of what he is teaching. DONT TAKE HIM!!
Professor is very knowledgeable and willing to help. Also strict, but well intentioned. Allways looking for improvement regarding both the students' comprehension of class related material as well as their respective critical thinking skills.
Worst teacher I ever had in my life. He has no business teaching, extremely incompetent and nasty. I passed his class and I still know that he was horrible. He needs to be fired. An embarrassment to FGCU and the teaching profession. Schnackenberg needs to act on this guy and get him out of there before he damages too many more peoples' careers.
Thanks for the great semester
This is a great class
Professor Jaffar is one of the best professors at FGCU. Just as great as Maneka. It's sad to see how low his overall rating is on here when I think about how passionate he is about teaching and how much he deeply cares for each and everyone of his students to succeed. If I could I'd take him for all my classes. FGCU is fortunate to have him.
He did his best job as a facilitator or learning.
Jaffar is... interesting. He wants you to do well but often misunderstands questions. If you aren't prepared for the class itself, he's not afraid to blatantly tell you so and chances are, he won't help you catch up. If you're a math person, great teacher (otherwise, stay away!).
Jaffar is an excellent professor if you give him a chance. He is a tough professor but wants to see his students work to succeed and will work with you until you do! He is VERY smart and you will learn a lot in his classes. I have taken 2 with him and he is one of my favorite professors. GIVE HIM A CHANCE!
He is a nice guy and he is fairly new to teaching and is learning and will make a good effort to change something if he is asked. His class was difficult but he cut us a lot of slack on the final exam and gave us several "give me" question. He also had optional review sessions to help people outside of class in addition to his office hours.
It is a difficult class but if you do the homework and take time to do problems from the homework and the book, you will do fine. Make sure you correctly write out the solutions and the work during the test, he will dock points if everything is not shown.
One of the worst professors at FGCU! He's an ok teacher in class but if you go and ask for help he just makes you feel stupid. Tests are hard
"I thought this course would be difficult because how I stuggled in Calculus I. The instructor has allowed me to exceed my own expectations"
'one of the best teacher, and very helpful...'
Jaffar is a great teacher. He really wants all his students to succeed, and he does extra study sessions for people who have questions.
'He is awesome'
great professor and I really enjoy this class
Awesome guy and super understanding
Excellent Professor
hard i think he from austria but im did ok really god teacher but he is not a very nice man and a little mean U WILL WORK HERD
Jaffar is a great math teacher, he is really passionate about the subject material. He is willing to make deals with his students in order to help out their grades. His attendance policy is something he takes seriously but overall super easy, if u dont like math this is the class to take cause its simple and he makes it clear!
Jaffar is an amazing professor. He is willing to help you. Answers questions informatively. More than anything else, he cares about every single one of his students, so much so that he won't just give you a passing grade. You have to earn it by demonstrating you have learned the material. He is the most fair professor I have ever taken.
He is an awesome professor who cares for his students, but at the same time he is challenging
Jaffar is the best professor I have ever had, and probably the best I ever will have. If you want an easy A, don't take any of his courses. If you want to learn the material that you are paying hundreds of dollars to learn, Jaffar is your man. He will help you with any question. He is extremely intelligent. If you can, take him for everything.
He is very good at math and I think sometimes forgets it does not come as easy for others. He expects a lot and grades very tough but if you work very hard and don't give up he will work with you to help you succeed. Very hard but I learned a ton. I had to or I would have failed.
Best professor i have ever had
Jaffar obviously cares for the class and subject material, but he's a horrible professor. He doesn't give enough example problems and when he does he spends 35 minutes on one part waiting for every single person in the class to give him an answer. If you've never had a calc class/it's been a while, DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Jaffar's class is one of the most difficult classes I have ever taken. He really wants you to learn the material and understand it. At times he will spend way too much time on a single problem to make sure everyone has understood. DO THE HW!! Hw is very useful in reviewing for the final and the exams. Willing to help as long as you go to class.
I took his online class and it is the hardest thing ever. so much work to do and the majority of it isnt really on the tests. I had a midterm and final exam. my advice is take math in person. it is hard to take a math class online especially since you have to teach yourself everything.
Awesome and caring professor, but you would have to work hard for the course
He's a genius but he can not teach. He knows every short cut but will use them during examples while we are learning new material and skip over steps. He expects everyone to be masters of everything prior to it and expects you to know things that he told us he learned in grad. school. HE'S ALSO FAST! If your not the best at math, take someone else.
Jaffar is one of the best math professors I've taken. He is truly passionate about the subject and he cares a lot about his students and how to make the class better. I would definitely take him, in fact ill be taking him again next semester :)
He is so smart, and a decent person, but a HORRIBLE instructor. You will spend hours on end in preparation for his exams/quizzes and never come close to passing them. Youll learn a lot about Calculus 2 by the end of the course, Id even say I was GOOD at it.... you just wont pass his class. Got an A without trying in my second calc class.
Really difficult professor, gave a test the first day, and everyone had a failing grade after the first day of class. Do not take him.
He knows his stuff, but is AWFUL at teaching. He goes way too fast and expects you to already know the material. You can't follow his steps because his work is erratic and he doesn't take the time to explain it. Take another Calc professor and I gurantee you will get a much higher grade
He is by far the worst professor I have ever had in my 2 years of college. He picks on students, has an ego the size of Texas, and his balding scalp is intimidating. I have learned all of my mathematics from the homework and non it from Jafaar. He only cares about showing off his math skills and not if you learn anything.
Although Jaffar can be a funny teacher and at times can appear nice, he is a poor teacher. He speaks as though he is running an auction and does not explain how he does the problems. His voice is very loud and obnoxious which makes it hard to concentrate when you are working. There is a lot more to say about Jaffar. #notmymathteacher
Veryhard to learn from and is a very harsh grader. Most learning is done on your own
Professor Jaffar is knows what he is doing and will come into class prepared, but he won't be able to explain it to you at all. He gives homework, worksheets, and quizzes all in one week. If you want to learn Calculus, do NOT take his class. You will be so overwhelmed with all the work and you won't have any time to get it done.
One of the best math professors at FGCU. He cares about the student and the subject.
Nice teacher and really cares about his students. However, he gives a ton of work. 3 Online homework due every week, end of chapter homework and quiz after. Also end of chapter homework he chooses about 10 questions for you to work on but only counts 1 of them for credit. He picks a random problem out of the ten.
Professor Jaffar is by far one of my best professor's this semester. He is very easy to talk to and very helpful in his office hours. A very nice and caring professor
He is very kind and caring professor. However, he is a tough professor. Getting an A in his class seems near impossible as his tests are very difficult and minor errors can make you miss out on an A or B. He teaches effectively but is fast and can skip certain steps in a problem. If you have weak Algebra and Trig skills, do not take his class.
The test are very hard and the class moves extremely fast Not impossible to pass but you do need to study a lot and do the online homework several times. at the start of our semester he said he will take 1% off your final grade for every absence, he was not lying. He is extremely nice and really cares and if your confused go to his office hours.
He has his own worksheets that he bases some of the exam questions off of and assigns a lot of webassigns for homework. He explains the content very thoroughly and does example problems during the lectures.
He is picky about students work yet he skips certain steps in a problem, when explaining to the class. Gives so much work and is not a fair grader at all.
He sucks. He literally made the class 100000% times harder than it should have been. There was like 5 extensive projects. He is horribly unorganized and it's frustrating to sit through his classes. It seems like he doesn't care and is biased while grading. I had the same work as two other class mates on a test and they got 90s and I got an 80.
Do not take this professor, he makes the class so much harder than it needs to be. He barely explains the simple steps and then gives you the hardest possible questions on the test. You will basically have to teach yourself the class.
Jaffar is an excellent teacher and he really cares about your learning. I would recommend this class to others.
I would recommend this class to others. It is a difficult subject and Dr. Jaffar expects you to learn it and be able to use it properly, so it will take some work, but the end result is worthwhile.
Dr. Jaffar is a great professor who knows his subject and can easily explain it.
professor Jaffar is a great teacher but he's going to make you work for your grade
Dr. Jaffar is a great professor and I would recommend him as a teacher as well as the class. I learned a lot this semester and enjoyed being a student in this class. One of my favorite courses I've taken.
Dr. Jaffar's lectures and notes are well organized. I can feel that he is knowledgeable about this subject. He can explain the abstract part of the textbook in a way that I can easily understand.
This semester it was different because of Covid, but Professor Hameed still managed to present the topic in a great way and he managed to get the students to participate in the class which made it better to learn.
Dr. Jaffar was the hardest professor I've ever had and the hardest class I've had to take as well. His grading is based primarily on exact correctness, so if you mess up halfway but you followed the right steps, he marks it all wrong. If you miss a class he takes 10% off your attendance grade and homeworks take hours to complete 1- 3 are due weekly
Professor helped make this class go as well as possible. Although it is a really hard class Dr. Jaffar really cares about his students and whether they understand the concepts.
Very difficult teacher, would not recommend for anyone. I am a math major and I was failing his class. The average on the quizzes for my class was 20-30%. It was ridiculous. He didn't seem to care that most of the class was failing.
Professor Jaffar is very knowledgeable and organized with the structure of his class. The class is tough but he makes you work for your grade and wants his students to succeed.
I recommend this class to anyone that is serious about learning the material contained in the course. It is not one that I would recommend if someone was looking to take an easy professor just to pass.
Dr. Jaffar is a teacher that cares about your learning. He gives many opportunities to improve your learning. One of my best math professors.
Dr. Jaffar is a very hard working professor and cares about if his students learn. His lectures are organized and matches well with the textbook. He is also very reasonable with his exams.
Prof. Jaffar did a very good job presenting and explaining course material. Calculus III was a rigorous course, but he explains it well and gives you a clear path to success.
No, no, no. One time, I was running "late" for my 9:30 class with him, and I got to the door at 9:30 and like 28 seconds. Locked...the door was locked per his policy. This is not middle school. Even if I had made that class session, I would have taken solid notes for a test I was bound to fail. They were impossible, especially for a non-STEM person
He did a really good job of teaching a 5 month course in only 5 weeks. His teaching and understanding were great!
Differential Equations class is very interesting and will help you in STEM-related classes and careers. Dr. Jaffar is a great professor.
He was one of the best math professors I've had. He presented information very well.
Professor Jaffar is a great teacher but he's going to make you work for your grade.
I believe the teacher has made this instruction of teaching the best possible way of learning from it. It would just depend on the student if they are paying attention in class or doing the work in class.
Prof. Jaffar's method of teaching, a continuous notepad on his iPad, is by far my favorite presentation method of material. It beats powerpoints for lectures by a longshot, in the sense that individual notes are tailored to the class with all of our questions and "babysteps" laid out.
Prof. Hameed presented the information very well throughout the in class lectures. Overall, his way of teaching this semester was very good.
The professor Hameed did a well job in explaining all things, he allowed us to ask questions and helped us with the problems.
Differential equations is a hard class no doubt, but professor hameed taught well in ways that were easy to understand, and gave us every opportunity to succeed...
Dr. Jaffar is an excellent professor. He is not an easy professor but a good professor who cares for students and their learning. If you take him, you will learn the subject for sure.
Professor Jaffar is a great professor but not an easy one. He will ensure you learn the material well, which means his problems can be incredibly challenging. However, he is always willing to help out when asked, and I feel like he genuinely cares about his students' academic success.
I took calc II in the summer, it wasn't an easy course. He taught well and very helpful. He is organized and gave extra credit opportunities. Wonderful and funny person. One of the best teachers at FGCU.
Prof. Jaffar is an awesome professor. If you want to learn Calculus, take him.
Prof. Hameed is one of the best math professors at FGCU. You will learn in his class for sure.
I swear he found a way to delete poor comments & writes good ones. I already made one about him, and somehow is no longer here. DO NOT TAKE HIM. I'm a math person and had to drop the class. Goes above and beyond to make his class as difficult as possible. Calc 1 is a hard class, but he brings it to the next level. Test first day of class
over half the class dropped. will give u multiple hard questions with no review. doesn't show his steps or explain. during lectures he will purposefully write down the wrong steps and make you erase and re-write as he writes faster and moves on. gets mad at the entire class if someone didn't say an answer fast enough. level: impossible. stay AWAY!!
Worst professor I have ever taken. He was very hard for me to understand and would randomly call on you to answer stuff in class. His lectures were super simple and then the homework would be way more difficult. Then the exam would be even harder then the homework. Do not take this guy period.
Professor Jaffar is the worst professor I've had, his online portion of the homework has been messed up and he hasn't graded a single assignment since chapter one. This class shouldn't be this hard but he chooses to make this class is unbearable. I'm pretty sure he prides himself on failing students in this class and how difficult his class is.
Jaffar is by far one of the toughest math teachers I've ever had. he goes through the lectures extremely fast and grades exams extremely harshly. exams are so much harder than the homework or notes, and he gives no study materials. however, he does seem to care about his students. come to his office hours and he will explain any of your questions.
"Professor Jaffar is quite challenging. If you're seeking a challenge, go for it. It appears that he selects the most difficult questions from each topic to include in the exams.
Listen to me, you will regret taking this class
Prof Jaffar is an excellent math professor but will give you the grade you deserve. I never felt I was good at math but his teaching style is so engaging & I genuinely understand and LIKE calculus. There is a bit of work and some quizzes but the exams are all understandable & he is very helpful in office hours. He genuinely cares about the course.
Dr. Jaffar is one of the best instructors. If you are trying to get an easy A or C without studying, or attending classes, you won't do well in his class. He takes his seriously and expect same from his students. If you want to learn and improve your critical thinking, take his class. He challenges you with math and make you learn math for sure.
Unless you're a genius or have a desire to hate your life, I wouldn't recommend taking this professor. Tests are so difficult and he's a super hard grader. There is no leniency when it comes to small mistakes or assignments. The only good thing about this class is that he comes through with extra credit at the end.
He teaches in a pretty engaging way, he incorperates humor into his lectures. He challenges us during all of the lecture keeping us on our toes. Exams are a heafty part of your grade but toward the end of the semster he is very generous with suprise grade changes to help the class average. He also offers many outside of class opportunities.
This professor made it way harder than it should have been. He was very confusing and his tests were way harder than the exercises done in class. Do not take him if you can because you will have a hard time. 1/3 of my class dropped, 1/3 did not pass and 1/3 passed (C's and some B's).
I took this course in the summer as a 6 week course. The course is very hard and Professor Jaffar is not an easy professor. He makes sure you get the grade you deserve. He has taught me how to study considering I need to dedicate at least 20+ hours a week to the course outside of class. Was my most challenging and rewarding course.
Professor Jaffar was very throughout during the entire semester, making sure to go answer any questions or doubts that I had.
He's the best math professor I think I've ever had. He explains very complex subjects in a way that they truly make sense. This is the first time I didn't feel like I needed to relearn the math material outside of class, because the way he explains it makes sense. He very is engaging, and he's just overall an awesome professor.
Take him if you want to learn math
Awesome math professor for Diff EQ, you need to attend his classes otherwise you wont succeed
Dr. Jaffar is an exceptionally good professor who cares for students. He is not easy, but if you are willing to learn, you will learn the math and critical thinking.
He is nice as a person and carrying about his students. However, as a professor he likes to skip over what he calls "baby steps" and doesn't show his full thought process on how he gets an answer. In his own terms "you must use your critical thinking to figure it out". You cant use your critical thinking if you were not taught it first.
One of the best math proffeessors I have ever had. I took Calc 1 with him and he made very difficult topics easy. He gives a lot of homework however he sets you up to succeed with his exams because they are very similar to the homework. Homework is the key to doing well in this class and his lectures are very straightforward.
Dr. Jaffar is a great math professor who clearly takes joy in teaching. His lectures are funny and engaging. Expectations are clearly set out at the beginning of the semester. Don't take this class if you don't plan to make time for studying however, as you are expected to understand each concept that is presented in class.
Dr. Jaffar is a wonderful professor and one of the best at FGCU. Learned a lot and he cares about his students. You have to work to earn your grades but he is super helpful.
Prof. Hameed gave us notes and used these notes in class. He was always willing to answer questions and explain things in more detail if someone didn't understand something. He was extremely helpful in his office hours. His teaching as a whole was effective. His notes were clear and understandable.
Great, funny guy, really cares about your success. He's a tough grader and little mistakes will cost you. If you work hard and practice a lot, you will make it through. The majority of the class withdrew and only a handful made it to the end. Be prepared to go to office hrs because he doesn't do hard problems in class, but those show up on the test
Professor Jaffar runs a challenging but rewarding math class. The exams are tough, but he explains concepts well in lectures and is helpful during office hours. Apps like unstuckstudy can be useful for study prep alongside the textbook. Overall, it's a worthwhile class if you're willing to put in the work.
One of the best math professors at FGCU. If you want to learn math, take his classes. I was well prepared for my Calc II after his Calc I compared to many of my peers. Calc II became much easier.
Dr. Jaffar presented and explanation in a clear and direct way while utilizing examples to illustrate the formulation and derivation of solutions. He showcased very effective teaching methods.
