This guy is a very unfair grader. He will take off for an entire problem for any mistake no matter how small. He loves to insult the class. Most students drop his class. I'm warning you stay away!!!

"You should have learned this in a previous course." If you take his class, you'll hear that any time you ask a question. He's very derogatory and tells students they're wasting their time in class.

He teaches in a way that he calls "bottle feeding." He goes over everything that will be on each and every test and quiz. If you pay attention and come to every class then you will easily pass this. Is right when he says, "If you study and be serious now then good times will come later."
i did not like his method of teaching
Despite some of the negative comments, I believe Dr. Kapoor is an excellent teacher. He gives plenty of examples straight from the textbook, so if you study, do the homework, and ask questions, then you'll easily get an A in the class.
goes through each and every step so that you understand what is going on
His method of teaching makes the class easy to follow, and easy to pass as long as you show up and do most of your work. He does tell you "You should have learned that in your previous course." Other than that, it's an easy class, and he's a good professor
His method is a really easy step by step method in a book that he is the author of. I failed this class twice before him, but in his class I aced the final and got a B.
This guy is amazing. He shows you how to do it five times in a row and then sets you on your own. If you can't do it, ask him. He will tell you and then it's over. Class is a breeze and I will enjoy the remainder of the semester.
ehh...
he is not helpful.
Didn't like his style of teaching... Class is more of a lecture than a learning environment. He shows you how to do topics, then sends you home with homework. No real class participation was involved. Be prepared to come in early (6:30 for an 8-9 class) if you want to finish tests on time. Hes amazing at math, just not at teaching in my opinion
I love to be in his class. He is so organised. he make the stuff so easy. He always explains the things, as if he is explaining to his own children. He really works hard for the students. He is an "excellent" professor.
definitely recommended, explains everything very well and gives and outline of all the test questions before the test, also has a supplement book which he wrote, but does have an accent if you dont like that
He explains everything step by step. He gives you a review sheet with EXACTLY what's on the test.
As he would say, he "bottle-feeds" his class, & bad grades give him "hearburn". Good if you want CLEAR step-by-step instructions (he uses dif. colored chalk for each step!) but don't mind not having a personal relationship with your prof- he's very distant/cold. Merciful if he sees u improve at end. I got an A after two Ds. Get his EZ Math Cards!
Kapoor was great! Layed everything out very clearly and took time to answer all questions. He's also very skilled at math and encouraged us to do well also. Would take again!
Basically makes you feel like an idiot if you answer a question wrong. As long as you take notes and know how to do the problems you should be fine (gives you a sheet with the exact types of problems that will be on the test). Not the nicest teacher but is an easy B if you practice the problems he gives you.
This guy means business. He's funny without trying to be and is overall a nice guy. He is from the middle east so if one has a hard time with accents, avoid his class. He does however lay everything out and show you what needs to be done. Just trust what he tells you, don't argue, practice your skills and you vsn psdd the class.
Thought he was awful. Makes u feel bad and stupid if u get an answer wrong. Teaches very fast i found it hard 2 keep up with him. Also cant understand a word he says
Exams are hard, no formula sheets given but his class examples and the ones in a little "notecard book" he wrote ($18) are the same that will be on the exams. HW is hard, just work in groups/partners to make it easy but I did nothing really and got a B (would've been higher but I blew off quizes). Good if you just want to copy notes and get through
Very distant, cold professor. He's an easy A/B if you play it right, but he does not understand his students, and makes a very negative learning environment. Knows what he's doing in the Math section, and can usually answer any question you have, but he makes you feel pretty dumb if you ask said question, or get a question wrong.
Not helpful at all, difficult to understand, if you ask for help he will say you aren't doing your homework
On the positive side, he is merciful at the end if you learn from your mistakes and learn harder. He also knows the subject front and back. But on the negative side, he seems to dislike students. He teaches at a ridiculous pace and makes an idiot out of you if you have trouble keeping up.
Not helpful at all, if you ask him for help he says you're not doing your homework. Kept referring to the "previous course" when some of us (including myself) were placed in 012 and never took 011. Wouldn't repeat himself and hardly let you make up things unless you told him WAY in advance.
Favorite teacher yet, made hard material easy to do
He was by far the most rude and unhelpful teacher i have ever had. Everyday I came into class there was just a new insult for someone. He dose explain things but on the test he gives you the hardest problems in the book which you have to do completely correct or you get it wrong. Needless to say be prepaired for his class by taking 011 or some1 els
he points finger at people and attacks people without any reason, already the first week. I've had enought with this nonsense. Just drop his class while there's a refund available or don't register for him. It's not worth it.
Very Intelligent Professor, he has a genuine interest in the material and wants to see every student do well. He gives review sheets for tests and takes a class to do a review day. If you do the homework and study it is not difficult to attain a B or higher. Also he has funny and interesting stories that he sometimes shares about grad school.
He genuinely wants all of his students to do well, he will let you come in as early as you need to start a test. He allows the class to decide what day the test/quiz will be on, and he provides a formula sheet. He expects you to "be a prisoner in your home" to study like he did, so if you don't like to work then you're in trouble.
Don't get him!
He was hard to understand to begin with. Then on top of that the first exam was scheduled on a day I missed class because my boyfriend of two years passed away unexpectedly and I attented his funeral. I came in to retake it and he wouldnt let me because he said I could have come in at 8 before the funeral. I am still floored he said that.
He loves math, and he loves teaching teaching math. He expects you to study hard, like he did, but is willing to work around your personal life, ONLY if your willing to work with him. The first day he sets rules, and god help you if you break them. I liked him, he is upfront in what he expects, and is blunt, but you learn from him, and lean well.
He was one of the worst. He wants his students to do well but doesn't understand that life happens too. Also, the tests are far more difficult than homework or classwork.
he is a horrible teacher. he dosnt explain things well. He is not helpful at all, one girl in the whole class got a B on an exam and he reemed the class for not trying hard enough, when it was actually his teaching,& dont even ask for help, your better off letting your dog eat it. not a good teacher, refuses to help, should get fired-case closed
If you try in his class he will help you even on test!!!! Great teacher
Hands down, the best math professor at the school. Literally (his words) hooks you up to a Calculus I-V, and feeds you what you need to know. He's always available during office hours, and will spend a whole class going over the homework if need be. Students who complain about this teacher expect everything to be given to them. Grow up.
Knows the subject, but useless teacher. Goes way too fast for the material being taught, and grades ridiculously. If you dont do a problem exactly his way, its wrong (even if its right). Only people who pass the class are people with prior knowledge of the course.
He says he bottle feeds you the info... but he explains things in a different way from the book so if you miss a class it is really hard to understand and catch up... this class is somewhat fast paced but not impossible to pass
If you listen you will succeed...Enough said. He knows his stuff and can provide you with what you need to pass the class
He is paternal, something many younger people seem to find offensive. If you are a "serious" student, you will sort through what is intended to teach you personal responsibility, and accountability for your own actions. It is after all, up to you. I LOVED his class.
Awesome teacher will definatley take him for all my math
Dr. Kapoor is not easily relatable to students, which may cause him to seem rude, but it is great when you want someone to intimidate you to review! Though he speaks quietly and in an accent, his organization and lectures are SO easy to understand. Links all information together and gives great examples. Not only goes by the book's formatting, but inputs his own comments. Gives all info before tests and quizzes! Easy A!
Dr. Kapoor has got to be the worst math teacher that I have ever had to deal with. He does not give you positive feed back. If you get something wrong or don't do something right he tells you that your math skills are failing and that you should have just started in a elementary school algebra. No positive feedback. Get out quick if you get him!
Dr. Kapoor was never my teacher, but when the other teachers would get me so confused that I went to get some help, he was always there, and always willig to help. Great guy with a great attitude.
Dr Kapoor has a passion for teaching and is very thorough. Anytime you have questions, he will drop whatever he is doing to clarify for you. This is my 2nd Math w/ him and will cont. to follow him throughout my collage life. Fantastic!! Inspirational!! And dont bother coming to his class if your not serious about learning!
He gives out a test format which is EXACTLY the same types of problems in EXACTLY the same order. So I don't understand how people don't get an "A"! He doesn't end up checking homework btw.
He is obviously very intelligent. However, his lectures are very difficult to follow. He speaks very quietly and with an accent. He demonstrates problems very quickly and skips "obvious" steps. He gives unannounced quizzes, although he promises not to do this. My class started full, about 30 students, by the end of the semester there were only 3.
Really cares that his students succeed. Gives ample warning of what will be on tests and willing to answer all questions. Goes "off book" to explain things more simply and clearly. Awesome teacher!
Very nice man and very passionate. Attended every class and most of the time he actually let us choose the date of our tests as a class. But if Math is not your best subject and you have trouble keeping up, this class may be difficult. He has a very heavy accent and speaks very quickly. He doesn't explain problems enough to understand easily.
Very good professor. Definitley knew what he was talking about and he made everything seem so easy. Yes he has an accent but its nothing to make or break the class. I strongly reccommend him if you really want to learn and understand mathematics.
Worst math teacher i've had in my life time! I know stat is hard but he just was not making any sense. When I asked for help he just ignored me. I did ask questions in class and payed attention but he was just no help what so ever!! do not take him!!
Worst math professor ever. First math class I've taken since high school, and if it wern't for me remembering most of the stuff, I would've failed. SO boring and never checked homework. Tests were rediculous. And hard to understand him.
by far the WORST prof i have encountered at AACC!!!! i came into his class with a 3.9 gpa and an interest in course material, however, after the first week i became absolutely disgusted with the class. when i approached him to help he simply brushed me off. DO NOT TAKE, unless you are a math wiz that does not care/need a quality teacher...
This guy is very smart, no doubt in my mind that he knows what he is doing. BUT, he goes so quickly. Once you learn one section you are on something else. I remember most from high school and I am not sure if I would be doing so well if I didn't. His explanations are easy to follow for the most part but if you have a ? he makes you feel dumb.
I took Honors Pre Calc in 11th grade and passed with a B, then senior year i took college algera, this semester in his class has been horrible. He has changed everything i thought i knew about math. I understood everything in this course befor i took this class and now I have no clue. I typically do not blame the teacher however he is terrible!
First, just because you suck at math doesn't mean Dr Kapoor is a bad teacher. The methods he teaches are extremely clear, and he will literally answer any math related question at any time. He makes sure you know exactly what you will need for his tests and quizzes and lets students vote on when the have them, within reason. Would take again.
No, he is not a very nice guy, but you don't come to college to make friends with your professors. This man is one of the greatest math teachers I have EVER encountered. Completely changed the way I look at math and was my saving grace for calculus. Take him if you are NOT lazy and willing to put effort towards learning.
He moves at an excruciatingly slow pace and if he calls on you and you don't have the answer then prepare to be royally humiliated & hovered over. If you don't have the answer "then you must not have done the homework". Wish I could get out of this guys class. Had a great teacher last semester and got an "A". Not feeling good about this guy at all.
I had no choice but to take his class due to scheduling conflict and I wish I wouldn't have. He definitely knows what he's talking about but, he doesn't explain it. He just puts it on the board. I would avoid his class unless you are a math genius.
Dr. Kapoor is a nice professor. He is very knowledgeable. His lessons are very clear, but he goes fast, which is the reason I like his class. But if your math is not very good, don't expect him to go back to teach what you should learn in your prior classes. He will give out a exam format, which is the same type of questions as the exams.
TERRIBLE PROFESSOR! MOVES TOO FAST, AND DOESN'T EXPLAIN HIMSELF! I AM WAS AN "A" STUDENT IN HIGH SCHOOL, AND THROUGHOUT MY FIRST SEMESTER OF COLLEGE. I took him for MAT-012 and he failed me with an "F". I took the course online over the summer and received an "A"...go figure! Save your time and money and go with another professor!!!!!
I would only recommend him if you are committed to your studies. He has an oldschool style of teaching, using only the textbook and chalkboard. But he has a love for the subject which both helps and hurts his teaching. He can be impatient at times if he feels you are not putting forth 100%.I personally think he curves your grades if he see's effort.
I was terrible at math all my life. I hated math. My father and brother were genius at it, but me, I'd just cry when they'd try to explain. Dr. Kapoor made me love math. He was so logical and methodical. I wish I'd known my whole life math made so much sense. That said, he doesn't take garbage from students who don't want to be there. Many drop out
He definitely knows what he's doing, there's no doubt about that. But everyone in my class is afraid to ask questions about anything because he makes you feel horrible for not knowing. I would avoid him if you aren't so great in math.
He knows exactly what he's doing the majority of the time. Other students in my class did not like him. He does give a lot of homework but its exactly what your test will be on. He gives self quiz's which are ungraded and really hep. He gives formats of what will exactly be on the quiz or test. He lectures about life a lot.
If you miss a class then you will be stuck playing catch up. Remember he has office hours and you should use them. He is very helpful; he gives you many chances to pass the class, but you have to make an effort in helping yourself.
This is not an instructor that you will won't to give attitude to. Remember he is there to help and teach you, not babysit. Dr. Kapoor is extremely knowledgeable. He is always willing to talk to students during office hours. Don't miss class or it will hectic to catch up. I would take him again.
Math is the most difficult subject for me, but I could usually manage a C average. The teaching strategy that Dr. Kapoor used did not work. He taught different methods than those presented in the textbook & he rarely gave a variety of examples. He also has a very thick accent which makes him difficult to understand. Would not recommend.
I just took Dr Kapoor for my 012 Math class. - The homework isn't graded like he states in the syllabus - He says that you get to choose the days of the tests but that is FALSE do not fall for it. - If you aren't already a math superstar, this course is NOT for you. - His heavy accent makes it hard to concentrate. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!
Amazing professor. Great philosophy on learning and life. Does his best teaching during office hours, but make sure you go to class.
Review your fundamentals of algebra before you take calculus. He expects you to know them. Dr. Kapoor is a really great teacher. This class is hard, and I'm not great at math myself. However, he will explain concepts over and over, he's very patient and knowledgeable. Don't miss class! He gives good lectures. I got a B because I worked.
I really liked having Dr. Kapoor as my teacher. He can be a little critical sometimes if he calls on you, and you don't know the answer; but he will always explain things if you ask for help. He expects you to come to class and do the homework. The homework load is really easy though.
He gives study guides and all the problems on the tests are on the study guide. If you don't do hw, the class is hard. I know this from experience. Tough grader on tests, but gives second chances. A couple weeks before the final he said if we got a C, we'd get a C in the class (I had a D before this). Tests and quizes are the only grades.
His exams are basically the same as his study guides. If you do them 2/3 times, as many times as it takes you to understand the material, you'll pass. I would do all the homework cause he takes his exam questions from the homework. Just make sure you do the homework! He doesn't really use the textbook explanations, he has his own methods of solvin
He gives you a lot of chances to make your grade better. He does give out a lot of quizzes but he announces them and asks the class which day they want to take it. For the exams he will give you a study guide and it is the same format so its easy to pass.
README, this professor is for those who see math as from a theoretical standpoint. if you are a math, computer science, or someone who sees math for itself, TAKE this instructor. If you are a applied type who needs a real world models for math, DO NOT TAKE! also, old school, chalkboard, book, and only grades tests. be warned on that last bit.
I did not have a good experience with Kapoor. My math class started out with roughly 25 people and by time the final came all but 4 of us had dropped the class. he was very unaccommodating and he did not like to answer any questions that went out of his format.
Dr. Kapoor is a very strict but reasonable professor. There are no freebies in the class. Do the homework thoroughly, ask questions, and practice problems for the math test. Very simple formula for success, but requires alot of discipline to get a passing grade.
This professor did not show up to the first two classes of the semester and did not even send out an email to tell the students, we all sat there for almost an hour waiting for him to show up. He is very strict on the work shown and if it is not shown exactly as he likes, he says you cheated. I would not recommend him.
Class time is spent going over a basic problem or homework, and most learning occurs doing homework outside of class. Doesn't explain why he takes steps to solve a problem. My experience was essentially guided self-study, so find a good textbook to teach yourself, the class textbook is pretty bad. Entire grade is from only a few tests and quizzes.
I learned halfway through the semester that Kapoor expected us to buy an additional book sold by him. The reason for this book is being he uses many techniques that are never mentioned in the normal book. He showed little care to help someone struggling with his teaching methods and had no office hours. Got an F, Retook different prof, and got an A
Does not know what he is doing at all. Very hard to understand, and is a complete joke. Not willing to help when the students needed it
He is slow, and to me it was good because I understand slowly. He is kind, and patient, and I made many mistakes. I was happy to be with such a caring professor!
I would not take this professor's class again. I ended up withdrawing because I had such a difficult time, and I'm generally good at math, too. He was difficult to understand, explained things poorly, strictly used the textbook and his lectures made me fall asleep.
Prof. Kapoor is very focused on grading and less on making sure you know the material. Theres a lot of homework and a lot of exams (which basically make or break your grade). He would not provide help outside of class, complained if you asked for help during class, and would say awful things about the people that dropped out of his class.
What most beneficial is that the homework problems will be the EXACT on the exams. Lots of people dropped his class but towards the end he pulls an Oprah and gives everyone a whole letter grade up. He has a weird humor but he makes calculus SUPER easy. Don't give up on him, all you need to pass with an A is know how to do EVERY homework problem!
Worst teacher I have had by far. I not bad at math by any means but he has made me hate it once again. The only grades he has is Quizzes/exams, he has no schedule for the class, he mocks you for not knowing anything and he cannot answer any question you ask correctly. Everyone in my class asks questions and he has no idea how to answer them.
So mean.
Very structured class. Definitely knows the content well but isn't good at explaining it. The only reason I did well in his precalc class was because I took precalc in high school so it was mostly a review, but if I hadn't taken it in high school I wouldn't have done well in this class at all. He is also unwilling to help students outside of class.
He does not accept any fault for students doing poorly in his classes, especially lower level courses. He has said "If you are not doing well in my class it is because you are not doing work." Got in a bad car accident, asked for the lecture notes from the day I was in the hospital, was denied. Does not care about students well being.
Worst math teacher I have ever had. He talks much too quietly and can never answer questions kindly. Very frustrated. Learned more from my textbook than this class.
I feared this man. After class I had so many questions, but I felt as though he would send me to the astral plane if I asked them. He may be the smartest man I have ever met. Knowing multiple languages will help you in this class, because having the skill to sift through his accent and soft voice for useful information is essential to your success.
Prof Kapoor is rude to his students, talks highly about his own teaching abilities, and doesn't teach much from the book. He berated me and several other students for not studying enough, even though I went to the after class help sessions daily. Even our TA, who had taken the class before, was confused by what Prof. Kapoor was attempting to teach.
Don't understand the negativity. I tripped up on remedial math prior to taking his class (failed, lol). But I did very well in his pre-calc class. He curved everyone and I got an A. Most students were in the B and Cs. I made a high B otherwise. He is not a very long-winded profressor. His lectures were concise.
His lectures were very boring. We used web assign for his class, so I found myself teaching myself how to do problems to avoid lectures. Always do the homework, because those are the same questions that are on the quizzes and test, with different numbers. I prefer him over Prof. Messenger.
He was nice but VERY hard to understand in class. I could tell he knew what he was doing but I couldn't understand him, class wasn't interesting, and overall didn't enjoy it at all.
