Took him spring 2003. Pretty easy course, but teacher is extremely unhelpful and at times rude. Gets upset if students ask him questions, and is never there to help us, not even during office hours or after class.
This class was very easy. The teacher is nice. He also grades on a curve and allows cheat sheets with the formulas. I totaly suggest taking this class of you need an easy stat class
One of the best techers to have. His note are clear-cut so you dont have to buy the book. Tests are based on a curve so yo'll get a better grade than you can expect. When it comes to questions he dosent like 2 explain himself twice , but this class is easy. Rule of thumb: dont miss a class!
Great teacher. He really explains the material well, so there isn't the need to purchase the book. You must attend the classes as he really simplifies the material.
Course isn't very hard, just don't miss a single class! No book, so it's easy to fall behind if absent. Seemed annoyed when people would ask questions which happened a lot b/c of his accent. Often seemed tired and short tempered - teaches at two other schools besides LBCC.
this is the easiest class ever!! anyone who says this guy is bad is crazy! Jaime is a cool, easy going guy. I got an A.
took over summer, didn't give homework since we did it in class, good notes, DON'T BUY THE BOOK, accent gets easier to understand after a few days, gave quizzes worth a lot but lack of homework helped and he allowed note cards for quizzes and mid-term/final. one of the easiest math prof's i've had. ended up with an A.

I enjoyed this class! The insturctor is so helpful if you dont get the lecture. He is so funny so youll enjoy staying in his class. I learned all the topics with all its applications. He is so nice. He madeit all easy for us to understand the concept. I definitely recommend this instructor than anyone else who's teaching this class in LBCC.
If you want an A, take this teacher. You do not need to buy the book, just show up everyday and follow his instructions, he teaches the course in such a simple manner that anyone with sense should be able to crasp. He also allows his students to use index cards for tests, which means you can write formulas and answers on cards!
Jaime is a GREAT instructor. I just finished his summer STATS class. He made everything clear and very easy to understand. Take him!!! He lets you put formulas on index cards for the tests. He's very fair. Don't buy the book, just take notes from his lectures that he put on the board and you'll do fine.
this professor is so great! he is awesome. he teaches so well. i love this class, go take this class!you will enjoy it. he has jokes! i definitely recommend him. i like to take more classes from him.AAAAAAWWWWWEEEEEEESSSSSOOOOOOMMMMMMEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
One of the nicest professors I've ever had. His approach is straightforward. His class is not totally easy but is an excellent choice for fulfilling a math requirement if you have a busy schedule. His knowledge of statistics is great and does a great job in his lectures separating important things to take in. Allows notecards. Highly Recommended
Great teacher. Has a heavy accent and can be hard to understand. Allows note cards, he does not look at them. You don't need the book. Attendance is mandatory, if you miss a lecture you miss a whole section, his lectures do not follow a book. First B I ever got in math!
Heavy accent...if you can get passed that...you can get a good grade in the class. He lets you use index cards. His lectures are very organized. You must attend class to do well.
This teacher is pretty good. He is very fair. His lectures and tests are straight forward, he doesn't try to trick you. You don't need the book!! You just need to copy the notes. You're allowed to use an index card. I took it during summer and I got a B and math is certainly not my strong point. Highly recommended.
Class is a breeze. Prof plays favorites. I wasnt one of em... so he gave me a B instead of an A. Theres no way you can get a C. This teacher is Anal when it comes to showing work... so be detailed@!
Strong accent. His teaching is straight forward. You do not need the text book because he does not teach from the book but from his handouts he composed. Quizzes / Tests are very easy (lets you have a notecard of notes) attendance is taken everyday and if you miss one day, you miss SO MUCH! recommended.
"agreed?... hello...?" strong accent. lots of notes, but lets you use note card on tests. its math, either you know it or you dont.
DID not use textbook waste of $. He taught from a cliff notes book not even text books. Very strong accent, laughs at students if they do not understand subject. He breezes through lecture not leaving time for you to grasp what he just taught. But to make up for his crapy lectures you can use notecards on all test!
never even bought the book. has a thick accent. he made stats easy to understand. he also lets you make up any quiz and turn in late homework. you can use note cards on every quiz/test and he doesn't check the note cards. i would defo take him again
Treated the entire class like their were first graders. Work was fairly easy, didn't need the book at all. However he did lose my final which forced me to retake the class because I couldn't find him to fix the problem.
I highly recommend this Prof. Teaches from his own notes so you don't really need the book. He makes STAT easy for you to understand. Take him, you won't regret it.
take leongson for statistics class! you do not need the book. He lectures pretty fast so make sure that you are paying attention and attending every class. I haven't taken a math class since highschool and was able to do this class! so if I can do it, so can you!
His class was super easy. I never had to study for any of his quizzes. Personally I think he is so cute. He is intelligent, funny and I would definitely take him again.
This class was super duper easy, you don't even need to attend class to get a passing greade. I missed like half of the lectures and I still managed to get an A+, he will go over the test and quizes prior to taking them. Very funny teacher if you can understand his accent, sometimes he can be a little bit cranky. Easiest class in my college career!
Not easy, however not hard either. Stat1 is very concise, Mr. Leongson is a good teacher. I definatley reccommend taking him in the summer, you get it done in 1/2 the time & the material stays in your head. Easier to maintain a good grade. Has an accent, teaches a lil fast, lets you have cheat sheets. Im bad in math, I got a B. :) NO BOOK!!!
the reason dis class is easy is cuz he simplified everything so its easy to understand! hes funny and class is exciting n upbeat. his accent can be a lil tricky but its not like u cant understand him. great teacher. if ur not a math person, he's good to have.
Insturctor does not use book, very limited homework and extrely hard finale. (Hard to pass exams/understand material with only informatin from lectures
this was the worst teacher i have ever had in the history of my life! goes wayyyyyy too fast, is really annoying because he always says after his sentence, "do you agree"..and by the way i DONT! is this a math class or a writing class? because you spend most of your time writing down his stupid notes and he doesnt give any other examples then whats
i will definitely recommend this guy to my friends, he is so good in statistics, i love the way he teaches the material, he writes everything you need to know on the board and let you copy it so you can keep good notes for examination, he is so nice. he is one of the best teacher in LBCC.he is always ready for the class and gives averything you nee
Great stats teacher. Knows the material like the back of his hand..No book needed but must study and understand all notes to pass class. Tests and final could make or break you
Very disappointed by his (non)teaching style. Tried to use his required text to study to and did not at ALL match his lectures or what he expected us to do in his tests. Never went over quizzes/tests. Note cards only saving grace. No use of technology- he could have posted his notes online instead of making us write them during limited class time.
Yes, He does not use the book, but he warns you not to get it, cuz it won't be used. Yes, accent is a little difficult, but by day 3 you just think it's fun to listen to. Yes, he is selective with who he helps cu he only wants to help those who want help or it's a waste of HIS time. Wonderful teacher, I got A's on everthing till the final.LOVE IT!
This class is super easy! I stuggled with math 130 and thought I was going to struggle with statistics. He teaches the class step by step! I understood it right away! If I can receive an A in his class so can you. I wasn't lazy about homework and studying. No text required and you can use notecards during quizzes and test.
Pro-No text book, Note cards for the test.Goes step by step once. Material is easy. CONS-Spend half the class copying his notes, that we have found to be wrong.NO web site for his notes. If you don't get it the first time, good luck on him explaining something. His english is not the greatest, he is hard to understand sometime.
sorry, heS okay. i dont think hes not doing a good job. i was able to learne statistics in a way that could be understood and applied to everyday life. GOT good grades because this professor s so helpful to students. he allowED us to use formula cards, otherwise you will be overwhelmed with freakin weirD statistics formula.i recommend this class
a bunch of immature high school students not prepared toa college class only want is a spoonfeeding education gave bad remarks to a very goor professor like mr, leongson.this guy is superb in explaining the materials. being misintepreted by the loud kids who didnt pay attention to the lecture and being reprimanded. highly recommended. if you are im
easy A, all u gotta do is take nots and study from them. no book is required. alot of people asked stupid questions so he got annoyed very easily.
yes he has an accent but you can completely understand him. this class is super easy as long as you pay attention. he uses NO textbook, has his own notes. he let's you use note cards on quizzes and tests which is the only reason why I passed! I definitely recommend him and I'm NOT a math person but this guy was easier than anyone else Ive had.
recommend! he's so easy and with him allowing you to use notecards, most likely you'll get an A on the quizzes. Attendance is mandatory, and hw is too. Final was hard though.
I came in to this class knowing absolutely nothing from Statistics. But I learned that this class is actually easier than Algebra. Yes, there are a lot of formulas, but the teacher lets everyone use a note card. Tests are basically taken exactly from his lectures. No books required, which is great! I absolutely recommend Mr. Leongson.
More than 1/2 the class were people who had him&failed the semester before but class was extremely easy so I stuck with it. Aced all homework, quizzes, and midterms. To my amazement, I was understanding statistics! UNTIL the final The final is a nightmare! Make sure you have an A the entire semester bc I failed the final and barely passed with a C.
This teacher is so easy, everyone who takes his class passes with at least a B. However, you cannot understand what he is saying half the time. So statistically speaking your chances of passing are greater even if you don't show up to class. By the way he also does taxes, so if he does your taxes your probability of passing increases.
this professor is awesome. i stronghly recoomend him. he is so good and generous for extra credit. he is the best stat professor at lbcc
This teacher is not all that great. He gets easily irritated by "stupid questions." His test are fair. You don't need the book...just take very good notes. If you're good at math this class won't be difficult at all, if you don't like it your going to struggle a bit. When it comes down to the final grade he grades easy.
i love this professor.he is very knowledgeable with the material.i took his class last summer, though it was intense obviously because it was a summer class but the the professor was able to discuss the materials in full details and crystal clear clarity.i will definitely take his class again.very much recommended.even way better than any other prof
Leongson is a fair professor and doesnt give grades..you earn them.. he does have a thick accent but you can understand him.l took him n the summer and passed!! highly recammend
He's one of the best math professors! Very smart guy. You will learn a lot from him as long as you pay attention. Very fun and easy going guy! Attendance is mandatory and he gives a lot of extra credit. As long as you do the homework and extra credit, you will pass the class! Trust me! Totally recommend him!
I took his summer math 130 class and you DID need the book. He assigned a lot of homework, but gave you extra credit if you do the pre tests for every chapter. Despite his accent, he's a really funny guy that explains the material very well. He curves the tests, so you always get a better grade than you expect and he gives you MANY opportunities for extra credit. Note cards are allowed for exams! Great teacher!
He was chill and made jokes sometimes. He gives extra credit opportunites with every test so that helped a lot. His hw is easy too. hes very helpful and explains all the material very well.
HE IS THE BEST MATH TEACHER EVER!! he gives so much extra credit. if you do all the extra credit he drops the lowest grade at the end of the semester. doesnt even check the homework nor the extra credit. easy to cheat on his class if the person next to you is willing to!
Agree!! Best teacher. His teaching is easier to understand that the actual textbook. He allows index cards for tests. Do all your extra credit. He does have an accent but it isn't that bad.
Took the class in the summer. Very helpful, no quizzes, exams following each chapter and come directly from lectures. Allows index cards with formulas no problem examples. Take notes. Show work for credit. Tons of opportunities for extra credit. He will help you if you try to help yourself. Put in the effort and you will do fine. Take him
he is the math teacher ive ever taken. if I could take him from math 815 to statistics I swear I would hes the best. && the only professor I know that lets you use note cards during your tests and especially during finals.
Winter Session: Very difficult class to take even with a great professor. The assignments he gives were overwhelming.. at least 12 or so tedious problems given in every class meet. DON'T PROCRASTINATE! Expect fast lectures from the professor bc he has to cover so much material in sucha short time period. He gives Extra Credit though which is nice
A great teacher. He has an accent but you can still understand him. You must show up every class meeting, 10 pts. extra credit for attendance. He goes through a chapter every week so it's mandatory to be in class. Let's you use note cards for every test. For final he let us use 10 note cards. He's really nice and funny and recommend him.
Such a great teacher! Very very patient. Lets you use 1 index card for each chapter test and 10 index cards for final exam. Definitely recommend him.
Prof. Leongson is really fast paced with lectures and his lessons are solely based off the book. He allows note cards on tests and offers extra credit.
Prof Leongson, although somewhat difficult to understand due to being multilingual, and rather fast-paced, has that ability to connect with his students that seems to be largely lacking in education today. He will stop a lecture if he feels that students are lost; even if nobody has the guts to say so or ask a question. He truly cares. A+ Prof
I have struggled in math a lot but in his class, it finally clicked. He first comes off as really strict but isn't. He gives extra credits which is really useful and let you use a "cheat" note card when taking the exam. Math classes are never easy but the way the class works is enough to get you to pass if you really try. it increases your chance!
He made math really easy to learn, must pay attention and stay on top of your homework or else you'll get backed up. He gives extra credit before every exam. He allows you to use 1 notecard for each chapter, so for the final we were able to use 10 notecards. FRONT & BACK.
Jaime was the best statistics professor I've ever had. Super straightforward. He lets you use a notecard with formulas during the test. We worked on homework during extra class time. Tests were easy too.
DO NOT take this class. Professor just reads out of the book and does not go into further depth. Mandatory attendance but I basically taught myself everything because he just reads the examples for the textbook and embarresses students when they ask questions as if they're stupid. Worst teacher I've ever had. STAY AWAY.
I like this professor. Very inspirational
i love his class. he makes things easier and a lot of opportunities to help boost your grades. very helpful and hreat lectures
prof L is Avery nice guy. I like his lectures, more clear than any other prof at LBCC. definitely I will take his Stat class
very nice, inspiring lectures and talk, very vivid examples and kind grader
I love prof leongson, He never missed a class and always ready for a best lecture. He uses a lot of examples form the book. He gives extra credit and helps students who are struggling. I am recommending this prof. Thanks Prof. L.
Professor leongson is one of the best parttime faculty at LBCC. He inspires students by his good lectures and talk. I love his way of teaching as the whole class is engaged and every students participate. I learned a lot from this class than any other Math class that I took.
I like this teacher, he explains very well and gives good grades
Prof L is very caring and he is good in his teaching styles. He always make sure that students understand before he proceed to next topic. I like this guy,,, He is cool.
Amazing lectures, gives a lot of examples and he is so helpful with his students. will recommend this professor
Very nice and helpful to students. I recommend this teacher to my friends. He is prepared all the time and gives a very clear lectures
I learned a lot on this class. the professor teaches well the materials. lectures are very similar to the exam. the whole class almost passed. very helpful professor
I had professor Leongson for Stats 21 This course starts out easy enough but, becomes challenging about halfway into the semester. Professor Leongson speaks very quickly so it's hard to follow along . If you ask questions he seems irritated He was not available outside of class. He told us to go the math lab for help.
He would attempt to humiliate and belittle students in front of the class during lecture. If someone answered a question wrong, he would try to imply that they were stupid in front of all of their classsmates. He also made fun of student's fashion choices. He also gave us one test that was not based off of any learned material, and I barely got a C
Took this professor with the Covid-19 pandemic going on. Before all of the chaos we were required to a good amount of HW assignments. Along with that we were required to do two DLA's before every test which were every other week. After the virus, all of my professors lessened the work load.... but this professor decided to pile on tons of more hw.
Im taking this class when they told us classes would be online due to Corona2019. First days of class he was yelling and telling us a bunch of random things. We have to get the Math Department involved. Most of my classmates dropped the class due to his way of teaching.
Bone to pick with this Prof., took class SPR20 & he did terrible w/ the online transition. Difficult to get in touch with. Never once knew my grade until the grade was entered for transcripts. Even before COVID19 shifted everything online, he barely taught, he mostly read from textbook. The YouTube videos that were provided after online did better.
Professor Leongson seems like a nice person, but he isnt the best professor. Hes not a very hands on professor and gave us all of the answers. Exams were always hard because he didnt teach us anything so we didnt know what we were doing. When he finally started to give us actual lectures they were not easy to understand.
he said, "I will not stop and answer questions, we have to get thru the entire text book" when someone asked him a question about a problem everyone was confused on and a lot of people dropped his class. homework was so so heavy. lectures were sooooooooo long and heavy.
This professor is one of the bests in LBCC. I am taking his class PreCal this winter 2024 and he amazes me on how he teaches the materials. I took this class before from a full time professor but I didnt like the style of teaching. Prof Leongson helps a lot his students and delivers his lectures in a very clear way through his great teaching skills
You will love this professor. He teaches so well and uses a lot of boardwork to explain more examples than what the book offers. He always break the ice and continue to keep the class going by his great attitude . I will definitely take him again in my next Math classes. He is very helpful and will give a lot of opportunities to boost your grades.
This is probably the worst professor I have ever had or seen. He takes way too long on easy topics and when it comes to the complex topics he skips right over them. He is not accessible after class, does not answer emails. The one saving grace is that he offers extra credit. The homework doesn't correlate to the tests at all. He doesn't belong.
Professor Leongson's class was tough as a winter semester class would be. however i had to use alot of youtube to self teach as his lectures are straight reading out of the book which i found hard to understand. Also for our exam reviews he would just tell us what each problem would consist of instead of showing examples and how to do the problems.
Leongson is an amazing teacher because he teaches with no expectation that you know certain material. His class starts from the ground up and only builds on what you are taught in class. I recommend not skipping class however or you could fall behind easily given that at least two sections are covered each class.
He wasn't very open to questions and made me feel dumb for the things I would get confused on. No office hours and he just rushed through chapters. He basically just reads the textbook during lectures and was not very understanding. I was a DSPS student and he didn't respect that at all. If math doesn't come easy to you, I would not recommend him.
I took the class of Prod Leongson last winter and I did great and understood well. I took it before but dropped the class as I dd not like the way the other professors teach. Pro Leongson used all the examples from the text which is very good and helpful. The class was intense obviously because its winter class. So we all the knew the expectations
Took Stats 1 over a winter course, it's in depth and missing even 1 class sets you back multiple sections. Lectures are only from the textbook, there's nothing prepared. No curves, no dropped tests, and all homeworks, 10-20+ questions per assignment are all due on the day of the test. Doesn't answer questions/respond to canvas/emails.
He was honestly not a good professor. He taught straight out of the book which was kind of hard to follow. He would also roll his eyes when someone would walk into class late or asked him about something. I would never take this professor again.
