very difficult, will not explain anything if you don't understand. Goes very fast. Stay away at all costs unless you are math wiz.
He is nice most of time strict. His lectures are good and understandable. His exams are not that hard but practice a lot of problems can help for the exams. He is a good math teacher.

He is a very arrogant and bad professor. He can't teach and spends too much time trying to make us feel dumb. He picks the hardest questions he can find to put on the exams. I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy.
i took him in the summer and he is very good! he knows his stuff very well and explains good. gave bonus questions in every test and curved. as a nursing student, i am not too good in math, but he made it ok. i even got a B! if i had to take more math, i would take him again. just work on the homework, come to class and ask questions.
not a good teacher! you have to do alot of work, and you have to pay attention at every moment, pretty strict, always checks attendance, moves through chapters quickly. Hard tests. i wouldnt recommend him.
had him for colleg alebra.his exams can be hard but gives bonus points in every exam and at the end of the semester. keeps disipline in class. explains clear and repeats when necessary.i learned a lot and i feel prepared for my next class which i didnt feel with other teachers.i am going to take precalculus with him.i recommend him to everybody.
i had to study quite a bit, but he explains well and kept the class going, not boring. mymathlab helped. takes attendance and does not allow any talking. i appreciated that when i had my car stolen the same day of a test, i came and talked to him and he was understanding and allowed me to take the test other day.
This teacher is very good at all. He make his students take the course seriously and creatively. Highly recommend him to anyone who is interested in math. Otherwise, avoid as possible as ya can if not wanting to fail.
he knows his stuff and explains well. gives homework every class. his explanations are clear, gives many examples, but he expects that students remember material covered earlier in the course and in previous courses. i recommend him for those who want to learn, like majors in science and engineering. not an easy passing grade!!!
Way too hard. Wants everyone to be a math major I guess. Struggled to get a B. Almost the entire class dropped. Take someone else.

Everything i learned was NOT from him. All he does is work examples from the book. I would NEVER recomend this guy. i had an A but i had complications with my family and work and i couldn't make it to ever class and he dropped me. He doesn't respect his students and was always late which means he kept us late. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

He is the coolest teacher ever! Yeah he is hard but i would take him again in a heart bit!If you pay attention to the lecture all i gotta do is practice! Not easy that`s 4 sure! It was a pleasure havin him as a teacher :)

Does not explain a example more than once after he breezes through it. Does like to make you feel ignorant. I use my laptop as the book with mymathlab, he was infuriated with me but I still used it. You must interact to leave early or to get him to explain more. I do not recommend him to Bil Gates even. If taking exams, good luck hope you love math
Mr hernandez is the coolest teacher i ever met, has a great sense of humor. the lecture is kinda fast, but he is very willing to help everyone. But the premise is you are an active student. Recommend

Very good teacher but strict and does not like to repeat himself. If you ask stupid questions he loves to point out how stupid you are. NOT for people who are afraid of failure and are shy. Otherwise, YOU LEARN A LOT FROM HIS CLASS, even though he is tough. His tests are VERY HARD - DO ALL YOUR HOMEWORK!!! His teaching is clear and examples good.
he is such a good teacher but you have to listen him carefully and remember what he said. He gets so angry when his students do not remember what he said before. He teaches well and he is totally clear. You have to do his homework and the homeworks effects like one test so you better do your homeworks.. not easy but good teacher

I took College Algebra with this teacher. He was really good explaining his material but the tests were must harder than I thought. in this class you actually have to dedicated time into reading and practicing if you plan to pass. not a nice teacher, gets mad easily, and expect the student to know everything. I recommend to take someone or hardwork
Very helpful professor if you like Math and take Math seriously (required prior knowledge). Don't take his class if you just wanna pass. Tests are qualified for good students. However, he should put some more tricky questions on the tests to make 'em perfect.

If you choose to apply yourself, you will learn so much in his class. He can be a bit tempermental, but his bark is much worse than his bite. I did his homework, went to class & made an A. And, Math is NOT my forte at all. He gives extra credit that is really easy. Do it! It's easy, takes 10-15 minutes and can make the diff btw a B and an A.

He is fast, but explains very well. I learned a lot in his College algebra class, even though I took it in Summer.If you want to learn math and you are ready to work hard and get an A, then take him, but if you don't care about math, you just want an easy A,then this might not be the right class for you.
This is the best math teacher I have ever had in my life. If your majoring in physics, or mathematics this guy knows what hes talking about. If you want to float by not caring about mathematics do not take him. If your serious, i advise you to leech off his knowledge he will take you far. I plan to take him all the way till calc 2. He cares !!
He's for students who r planning to learn REAL math. He knows his stuff well and he's very responsible. well sometime he could be "mean", but trust me, if you wanna take math seriously, this is your world; otherwise, u will be feeling down all the time. I got A+ in both CAL 1 2 so i know wat im talking about
Really helpful and knew the topics very well, most ppl that say he was bad are taking the 0308 or 0316 but 4 the higher math he's great and wants you to asks questions. Yea he can kinda sound mean sometimes. Perfect Attendance is extra credit, he curves tests, and the midterm and final can replace lowest test scores
Incredibly rude. He acts like a high school teacher and not a college professor. I had to talk to the dean about his childish behaviors. His teaching is mundane and his average test scores are a disaster. Would never recommend. EVER.
Dr. H is a very tough grader. I would only suggest taking him if you are very strong at Math. He teaches well, although makes the test very difficult. There is no homework that is graded to help bring up grade if you do not test well. No extra credit.
He's a very good teacher but you have to practice what he teaches at home or else you will not do so well on the exams. Bad mannerisms. Very rude and makes you feel absolutely stupid when you ask questions. He has tapping habits; during the final he tapped his shoe on the ground for 5 minutes. Not cool.
he teaches really good but very repetetive, i felt like he was going to slow for me, he does act like a high school teacher, my first 2 exams i got an A,i missed the 3rd exam purposely because he replaces your lowest grade with your final score, and the next 2 test i did 60s and I still passed with a B. in the end ull pass n maybe learnsomethingnew
His tests are HARD. Although he does let you use cheat sheets, but he expects you to know too much info for just one exam. I am taking this class over with another professor
Acts childish, has a tapping issue, threatens to lock anyone that is 5 minutes late out of class. Tests are hard and sometime cover obscure details. Easy to anger and loves (absolutely loves) to hear himself talk.
He understands mathematics, it is a shame he can not instruct he his students to understand it. Students basically learn everything from the book, his lectures are only slightly informational. He does tap his feet and he does have a temper. I do not recommend this professor. Don't waste your money!!
I thought he was an excellent teacher! I haven't taken any math classes in over 10 years and jumped right into College Algebra and still managed to make a B. He was very helpful and definitely tried to help the students as much as possible. Tough course.
I don't know who's faking all these good ratings. He's NOT a great teacher. Yes, he knows his stuff, he does, but he's extremely rude, catty and he DOESN'T give any reviews or graded hmwk. everytin depends on the final. 12 chapters and no review to prep for Finals. i ignored pple who said not to sign up. I regret it now. Don't take him. dats all
I had him for college algebra and I think he is a great teacher. Knows the stuff and is great at explaining. I got an A!!The final was the easist thing ever and it counts three times and it makes up your lowest score. Take him if u can!!

Go to class 2 minutes late, he'll waste 15 minutes of class time complaining about it. He loves to complain. Class is all lecture. Tests aren't too dificult if you keep up with the material and the online homework. Extra credit is at the end of the semester. Not an easy class but it is straight-forward. Don't take if you want an easy A.
Great prof. I got a B in his class. His class is not that hard if you keep up with the homework and lectures. He is very straight forward, but also very clear with his lectures.. Take him if you really want to feel a college level experience. Dont take him if you want an easy A.

keep your distance. Keeps lecturing till end of class and no time for questions in his class. Only simplest examples are taught in class and you figure out the rest by doing mymathlab or a tutor and his tests is on problems from math lab that you struggle to finish. designs his tests in a way that you always run out of time and no time double check
Stay away from this professor. I am laughing right now bc all the good comments sound like him. Anyways, his teaching style is not good. Basically u end up teaching yourself. Professor has an attitude like no other. I don't recommend.
He has no style in teaching. Not helpfull at all. He went from teaching Math 1325 to College Algebra this semester for spring 2012.
Dr Hernandez is a very clear instructor. However if you work full time or cannot devote 8 hours minimum a week to homework and studying you will not do well. His tests are about 3 times harder then any material you study from so be prepared.
Took him for trig... does not give tests on material covered... Purposely makes test that take longer then class period. DO NOT take unless you are only reviewing the material.. Also treates students as if they are in elementary. Very rude.
Explains clearly and if you ask him for help he will assist you. Answers e-mails fast if you have any questions. Calc 2 had online HW, YOU HAVE TO DEVOTE TIME TO HIS CLASS! online hw sometimes could take forever, big part of your grade. tests are similar to hw, if you do the hw and understand you will do well on his tests. How could you say that Dr Hernandez is not good? Really good teacher, one of the best that explain very well. Math is to solve difficult problems in life... how do you want him to give easy ones, but Ure going to encounter hard one in the future? U like math, U like Dr hernandez. Horrible, material covered not on test. He is very rude. Talks to the class like we are stupid! Does not even leave time to answer questions always on the move covers 3-4 sections in one lecture. Terrible professor I recommend not taking him, I tried really hard to understand his teaching methods but none of which is even related to his test!
Math is a subject that needs practice& u have 2 study.Professor Hernandez is one of the greatest instructors in this area.He knows his materials & is always willing to help u.For every class, I took his time after class.He's so generous.I had my Cal2 & 3 with him,and got A for both.He wants you to work hard & actually learn.He curves all grades.

I recently took this class as a hybrid class and he's very rude. He acts like his class is the only class u should be focused on...the homework is ridiculous... One problem have multiple questions to it, so it's actually more than one... I wouldn't recommend him to anyone.
I had a great experience with professor Hernandez. I had him for calculus 2 and highly recommend him for such hardcore math courses. If you are a math major definitely count on him but if you are not a fan on this subject, run away cause he might be a little to hard on students who hate the subject and don't want to try.Take him if you work it hard
Took the 8 week hybrid course by accident, BIG mistake. This guy is annoying and unhelpful and I was putting 4 hrs a day into online assignments and they still weren't 100% complete by their due dates! He acted like we were all to blame for the lack of time in the class, used it as an excuse for not explaining anything to anyon. $250 well dropped !
Took College Algebra with him and was a good experience. He explains very well and is thorough. Attendance and homework required. Class moved very fast, but then it was an 8 week hybrid (short!). I think that's why some other students here did not lik it. Do NOT recommend hybrids, but DO recommend him! Taking now Stats with him for full semester.

Took this class online.All exams were online in the computer (no paper and pencil) & gives 2 days to take (nice!),responded my emails quick.HW online on mathlab, has videos & slides online to help learn. Math not my forte, but I'm business major so have to take it. Got B.Taking Stats online w/ him now and same thing. I recommend his online course!!

Dr Hernandez is very helpful. But if you take only easy teachers for your math background, you will need to study more. Pay attention to the class, do homeworks (There is a mountain of them) , and practice a lot for the test. That's what it takes. you will understand math! Recommended.

Not good! No review sheets are given for any test, so he lectures through 10 chapters in 2 weeks and expects you to guess what the tests will consist of. Plus he will take off major points if you don't show your work the exact way he wants you to, he took off 20 points from one of my tests. Half of the class dropped, I should have done the same!
His teaching is great, he explains new material very well, which reduces study time, so if you are taking math courses to learn something, I highly recommend him. Probably the most talented math teacher I ever had. Now yes, there is a lot of HW and it takes some time to do it, but those HWs were the best prep for the exams.

I was a student of Dr Hernandez and now am a Junior in UH in Chemical Engineering I cannot tell you how Dr Hernandez has influenced my life for the better.His class was tough but now I see what it was all for. In fluid mechanics class with a 50% drop rate only those with strong calculus survive. His 8 hour hmwks have paid off Thank you Dr Hernandez
He is a very likeable and helpful man. I am taking him now, and we have not taken the finals yet; so i won't be bias. If you have no interest in math, then don't take him. I just came from Africa and i have no problem with his speech and teaching style. This is college algebra, not elementary algebra. Don't expect him to explain to you why 1+1=2!!!

Terrible teacher! Took him at the campus and he was absolutely awful. He taught straight from the power point provided by the Publisher and MyMathLab. His test were terrible; too long, hard, and irrelevant. Only take this class if you have enough time and energy to devote to it and you are comfortable with teaching yourself.
The course is not hard, pretty much everything is self explanatory from computer based homework as well as the slides. He is clear, but can over complicate. He majorly mood swings and tends to be in defensive mode when we ask questions. His tests are more about how fast and accurate you are under pressure than if you know the materials.
I didn't face problems in his course; lots of webassign homeworks, and he explains really well, the class is not that hard, yet his tests are kind of long and little difficult.
Math has always been a hard subject for me but with the help of Dr.Hernandez, I was able to pass. I took this course online which only required for me to log on Web Assign whenever I had time to finish my assignments. Tests could be taken at home but with Respondus Lockdown Browser. The final exam was taken at the closest HCC and also on RLB.
A very great teacher. Couldn't have wanted more. As long as you complete all your assignments, devote your time to study and come to class regularly, you will have no problem. I never made less than 90 in any test - because I followed his rules.
I took Calc II with him after taking Calc I at NW College.I learned very little from the NW College teacher.Dr. Hernadez however was a great instructor!His explanations were very clear & worked multiple examples in class.There is a bit of homework & exams are challenging,but I need to learn this stuff before I transfer.I'll take Cal III with him!

EXCELLENT!! Took Cal II this past summer with him. This guy truly knows his stuff, unlike others I had before. There is required homework online & takes attendance. Gives clear examples and explanations. Exams not easy, but fair. Don't use your phone in class! If you want to learn take him! I am taking him for Cal III in the fall before I transfer.
Do not take this class online during the summer, brutal. The professor was little help throughout the course. The "practice tests" did not correlate with the exams and you have to use a lock down browser during exam so it makes the use of formulas and charts unnecessarily difficult. I have never made below an A before I took this course. VERY HARD!

Very good instructor. very on top of his stuff and knows what he's doing. You will learn a lot from his class. You need to work hard to get an A, If you are just looking for an easy A, you will suffer badly and this is not the place you want to go. I made all A's with his class. Now I'm working at Microsoft, miss him so much!
*I took Math 0409 as a 5week course. Dr. Hernandez has a unique personality that can wear on yo in a three hour class. The class I took is already easy, but I didn't find his tests difficult. He did assign a lot of homework, but it's math, so... surprise? He is strict and expects your respect. Do not take him if you expect your hand held.
does not explain material clearly enough. most of the time he just does the work on the board without stopping or checking for understanding. however the homework part of the class was very simple and you have multiple weeks to finish.

I took the 8-week online course. Schedule is really tight. You have to read and do the hw every day to catch up with the due dates. She gives clear instructions. She responds to emails. Work hard and you can get an A. 4 exams, 2 of them are proctored exams taken in HCC campuses, all of them are taken using WEBASSIGN.
This teacher is the best math teacher I had at HCC! He answered all my emails quickly, and answered my questions. Other I had before didn't. He even sent me pics of how to work out problems that I did not know how to do. He met with me in his office to talk about the class. I highly recommend him. Just do the homework and keep up. Very responsive!
I should't pick his summer class, five-week is too short for me to enjoy. Mr. Hernandez is a great teacher, which is not that easy to find in a community college. If you have a chance to pick his course, my suggestion is pick it. To be honest, his course is not the easiest one, but I am sure he can help you lay a solid foundation for your career.
MOST UNDERSTANDING PROFESSOR EVER, I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ONLINE PROF THAT EMAILS SO FAST AND CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS! Good amount of homework but a lot of notes and PowerPoints to help explain all the work, and great professor that really works with you. Best online math class I have ever been in, do everything you can to get professor Hernandez!
I love his class alot. He teachs clearly and at the right level of Cal 3. This class is not an easy A class. You have to earn it yourself. He is one of my favorite teachers. He takes time to answer all my question. Best teacher ever !!!!
Professor Hernandez is a very thorough lecturer and takes the time to fully explain all of the topics in class. The homework is due in blocks and done online, and the tests are based on the homework problems. Highly recommend this class for anyone who needs the credit.
I took calc 3 with this professor and it was very good, the way he explains every subject males it very simple to understand . The only problem was the HW on Web assign . I mean some sections had 34 questions and when you are taking other science classes it's just too much. Other than that the professor is one of the best Recommended!
If you get past his occasional use of PowerPoints (sometimes it is necessary because 3D graphs are just easier to show than draw) he is a pretty good explainer. He, however, doesn't manage the class time well which is infuriating sometimes. Tests are not straightforward but fair. He's a fun character (gave us candy during the final, bless him).
Took cal 2 with him as an online class. Decent amount of homework on WebAssign so make sure that you are following your schedule to not fall behind. He sticks to the rules and cares about his students. However, he expects you to know the material ( It is a math class, guys). If you need help, he always tries to make time for you. You will have to teach yourself on mathlab,time consumin,He doesnt curve scores and is rumored to boost his ratings here. You get no review for the exam so you have to guess which of the homework questions are on the exam. NO PARTIAL CREDIT ON EXAMS. Like the guy below me said theres no easy C or even D. His extra credit is pretty much pointless.
He doesn't give partial credit on exams, exams are not multiple choice when the majority of the class failed he didn't curve at all. He gives extra credit on exams but his exams are 50+ questions so the extra doesn't matter; half of the class dropped. Don't take him online either his policies are terrible. He assigns the maximum amount of homework.
exams have extra credit and bonus problems for extra points which helped was available to see me in office online discussions were helpful, he answered our questions dropped my lowest grade and that helped me pass I sent him a bunch of emails and he answered them, other instructors I had ddidnt, bunch of knuckleheads here, I recommend Dr Hernandez!

Taking him in person has no special benefit than taking him online, other than the fact the class will be way easier if you get what im saying. He gives no curves on exams, assigns the maximum amount of homework 20-35 problems for each section. He will replace your lowest grade with the final which is pointless if you been struggling. Avoid him.
Took Mr. Hernandez for Cal I. He gave very good lectures. He answered my emails quick and gave me make up test when I missed a test. He gives extra credit and bonus points in all the tests and final exam too. Dropped my lowest grade. I will take him again! Hope he teaches Cal II. I recommend him!
i like this teacher! the class was easy for me. just do the homework. test problems similar to homework. he sent us reminders. we had discussions canvas for points. gave bonus points in tests, and partial credit too. wish I had him for Cal 1 and 2. other teachers I had before were very disorganized & never answered emails. highly recomend him!!
I took dr. Hernandez last fall online. He was thorough, fair, and great when explaining problems. Always fast and available to answer questions and emails. Gives good reviews for exams. Also drops lowest grade and gives extra credit. Gives points for posting questions in discussion boards, which he answered. I will take him again.
Taking him in person isnt worth it. He is the same as an online teacher since he wont curve exams and ONLY gives bonus questions on his already long exams MATHLAB TEACHES YOU MORE THAN HIM I failed and retook this class online with another professor got a B with less effort. Online Math is easier since you can take exams in the comfort of your home
If you want your GPA to fall, take him. He literally make things so hard to understand and takes 40 mins to solve one question. All my friends I talked to did not have a hard teacher as he is. He postponed the last test because he did not complete what he had to, and then we got just a week to complete the review homework which was almost 190 ques
Took Mr Hernandez for Calc I this spring. Best math teacher I've had at HCC! Very thorough going thru the material and very clear in his explanations. Other instructors I had were all over the place making mistakes. He didnt! Exams were the usual, based on howework and class examples. I will take him again for Cal II. Highly recommended!
I took him online, he maxes out the homework which I did not like. If you have questions and email him, he will respond quickly and thorough. 1st and 3rd exam are online, the 2nd exam and final are proctored. You must learn all the material by yourself due to only posting power points provided by the textbook publisher.
Great class! His explanations were very clear n didn't go all over the place n made mistakes as other teachers I had. Gives bonus pts in exams n at the end to help ur grade. Do ur homework n study. Took him online last semester, its a self teaching class. He doesn't really "teach" you anything. You're expected to learn the material through webassign and a textbook.
I took Cal II online with him last semester. He was available in his office and met with him or talked on the phone to go over questions I had. He was very good explaining stuff. When I missed an exam because of personal matter, he allowed me to make it up. He also added partial credit to exams.I plan to take Cal III with him. Highly recommend him!
LEARN ALL BY YOURSELF. Communication is good at least. Tests are super hard, like crazy hard. Homeworks are super long, and even if you do one a day you will not be able to finish them all on time. The powerpoints are confusing at some parts and the examples are irrelevant. DO NOT TAKE MR HERNANDEZ ONLINE PLEASE. Don't waste your time like i did.
Took this class with Dr hernandez last year. Homework was okay. Exams were pretty similar to homeworks and had extra credit. He also gave partial credit in exams and discussions. Came to see him in the office with questions, that was helpful! Also on phone. He was nice and willing to help. Math not my best subject but got B. Highly recommend him!!
All I can say is DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF. I took him last semester, his test is crazy hard. NO REVIEWS TEST. A LOT OF HOME WORKS. He said that he have extra credits in EXAM. TRUST ME, you will never get 100% of the test. If you guys think that I didn't study and just blame on him. I HAD THE HIGHEST SCORES IN HIS CLASS BUT I CAN'T GET AN "A".

Dr. Jaime really cares & wants his students to learn the concept and enhance their skills, always responds to questions, in-person, at office, by e-mail and we had this GroupMe where he helped us a lot. One best thing he did for us was reviewing whole College Algebra and Trig. before getting into Calculus which paved the way for us to learn better.
took dr hernandez for cal 2 online last fall. i took this course twice before with others and failed. met with dr. hernandez in his office for help with class and that helped a lot! also emailed with problems i couldnt do and he replied quick with help. points in discussions and extra credit in exams helped too! I passed with B finally, thanks!
I have never worked so hard for an A in my life. 5 week Cal 1 class and there was so much homework. I came in weak on my pre-cal and Algebra. I came out a Beast in Calculus and all the above. With math, you have to practice and you get a lot of practice with the homework. He has very good class explanations too. Just don't take a heavy load.
Love this class! Professor Hernandez is caring and gives feedback on time and make sure you understand the materials. Just make sure you did all the homework problems and you sure will pass the class and have a good grade.
I work a full time job, and couldn't attend his surprise weekly video-discussions. He said it was a "shame" I couldn't skip two hours of work to join and get help. Discussions not recorded. COVID-work related issues caused me to miss a test. No exceptions allowed. Couldn't get help on homework problems unless I knew answers. Tutors were clueless.
Honestly this class was literally the most demanding class out there so if you have anything to do outside of class dont take this guy. His exams were too long didnt give curves more than 80% of the class dropped. I failed this class took another professor and made an A. He just makes this class confusing af take another prof and let google guide u
Prof. Hernandez is awesome! He really cares about his students. As long as you work hard, he will see that and help you out. Always happy to answer questions, and gives great, in-depth explanations. My class was a condensed, 4-week summer course. If you struggle with the subject I recommend waiting for the full 16 weeks because it is a TON of work!
Dr. Hernandez is a great professor. His methods of teaching an online calculus class work wonders! A 5-week course is tough, but his syllabus makes it possible to pass and learn a lot as you go. Follow his directions, do the assignments and ask for help early. He does an amazing job explaining concepts in ways that truly help! I recommend his class
mr. hernandez is awesome. best math professor i had at HCC. he did lectures and discussions online (not required) and also met with me one on one to discuss my exams, which helped a lot. asnwers all emails quick, and we did discussions on canvas for points. he also answered all replies to discussion which was also helpful. i HIGHLY recommend him!!

Let me preface this by saying I majored in Math and have gotten A's on all previously math classes. I took his Calculus III online math class in 8 weeks, and it is downright impossible. His "notes" is just copy/paste from the textbook, and that's it. It really seems he has no idea about Calc III, and conversely, his students have no idea either.
I took the 8-week online course and wow. If you don't pick up concepts quickly or if math does not come easy for you, I suggest taking the full semester or another professor. There were no lectures, just textbook and videos from the textbook/WebAssign. The amount of homework was almost comical, totaling close to 1000 math problems for 8 weeks.
Took him Spring 2020 (pre/during Covid). Very hard to rate him as he was a great lecturer but would go off the rails about things like going to the bathroom during class, or one time where he got mad at a student for trying to leave for a family emergency during class. Seemed very understanding during the transition.
If your were good at calc 1,2 then you should be good for his calc 3 class. I barely even tried and i got a B. His lectures were boring and his exams were long. Webassign will teach you more than him.
My friend recommended I take dr hernandez for cal 3 in 8 week and I did and I am glad! Took the class last fall. Good lectures and available outside class. Met with me to discuss every exam. We had 3 exams, one final and homework plus discussions for extra credit. He answered every discussion answer too. Got an A. Highly recommend him.
I took college alg with him a few yrs back and wanted to take business cal with him. his lectures were great. tests are similar to homeworks. do the homework and youll be ok. he reviewed and gave many examples in class. his explanations were clear. helped us organize in study groups that help a lot. took him for two courses. highly recommend him!!!
Don't let the Level of Difficulty scare you, I am being honest. We have to study with the ppt and do hw. I won't say it a lot of homework but enough to get used to the problem types. I took him in cal1 and come back for cal3. Math links together so don't try to get ez A, it will ruin you, trust me. BUT he communicates and will HELP you!
Absolutely terrible. Tried to reach out to him multiple times and he only responded once and was not helpful in any way. At the beginning of the semester he said Lockdown wasn't required. this was a lie. Lockdown is required for all tests. Only positive is that the test questions are from the homework so if you can find a way around lockdown....
I took dr hernandez for calculus recommended by my friend who took 1325 with him. loved his class. he met with me several times to go over my tests and over homework problems i didnt know how to work. also gave us partial credit and extra credit to help. he explains well and will help you. take his class if you can. i highly recommend him!
Just took him for Calculus. Much better than others I had before. He answered all my emails fast and sent me pictures of how to do problems I didnt know how to do. He met with me & classmates to go over exams and problems. Got some extra credit from a quiz. I am not good at math so being honest here. But he helped me and I passed!! Thank you Dr H
I took Dr. Hernandez for Calculus this semester online. He met with me to go over tests and homeworks. He also gave partial credit in online exams and extra credit quiz. he explains well and that helped me a lot. i will take him again. i had other teachers but they were not available to help me. If you need help with math class, take Hernandez.
I am an engineering student at another college and i decided to take this class to get it out of the way but i barely making a 50, mind you i made a 99 on Cal1 and 95 on Cal 2. 85% of the Grade is Exams which there are 4 exams. All of them are 30+ questions and proctored. Remaining 15% is homework which theres upwards of 1000 problems of that.
Probably the rudest professor ever. I told him my dad passed away and he didnt even offer me condolences. Hes not understanding at all. Do not take this class alongside other classes as well. If you understand the hws you will do well ,but you will be teaching yourself.
This is the worst class I've ever taken. Every exam is timed on WebAssign and there are 30 problems. It is impossible to finish them all, and while you are rushing through the questions you can make a mistake and miss everything. Unreasonable class format. Expect to teach yourself. No exam reviews. Can't see missed problems. 1000+homework questions
I took Dr. Hernandez for Cal3 during the summer and Im so glad I did! Hes easily the most caring professor Ive ever had. Although the class was online I never felt confused/discouraged because Dr. Hernandez was organized with the class material and he always answered questions quickly. 10/10 recommend!!!

Best math professor. Took Cal 2 & 3 with him. Do the homework b/c exam questions similar to homework. Class was online but he did live exam review sessions virtually,attendance not required. Met with me in webex during office hrs to answer my questions. Gave some quizzes for extra credit. Wrote nice letter of recommendation for me to UH. Take him!
Not enough time to finish all the problems during the exam, and his responses were always rude.
His exam procedures were very complicated and if you dont follow correctly he will flag your exam as cheating and give you a zero. There was also an insane amount of homework.
He is a tough teacher as many other CAL teacher with whom I've ever learned or practiced since ever. He does give opportunities to makeup homework which is a lot thru the course but necessary to get a good grade in the exams. He also replies fast and pay attention to students! I took Cal III with him. Lecture is very long because it's CAL III
Mr. Hernandez was an awesome instructor. Met with me after every test to discuss it and gave me partial credit!! Exam questions are very similar to homework questions. Also gave a quiz and extra points in exams for extra credit. I got a much better grade than I expected! I will take Cal III with him. I highly recommend him.
Took Cal 3 with him last spring. Truly enjoyed the class. Good clear lectures, very flexible teacher. I was sick part of the semester and he worked with me to give me time. Gave extra bonus points in every test! I like that! Tests covered what was in the homework, no surprises there. Office hours right after class helped a lot. Recommend him!!!
He takes time to reply to your emails. He does not take any excuses and is quick to replace your grade without even trying to understand the circumstances
The instructions he sends says that webassign will be free but after about 2 weeks you will still have to pay for it.
Horrible teacher rude doesn't care turned exam 3 grades to zero for almost everyone just for not showing calculator or environment even when he did not ask or complain for the first 2 exams i do not know this man for in-person but for online look for someone else he should be your last resort very very horrible am sure it will be worse for inperson
Warning! Do not take this professor. Went through all the previous comments, and everything his previous students were complaining about happened to me. It went from giving me 0's on Exams for not showing my calculator, lying about webassign being free, to being rude and late when responding to emails.

I took this class in person and I am glad I did! I enjoyed the lectures so much, they're very clear and he'll answer your questions if you have any. He helped me so much especially during the time I was not able to attend his office hour. Hes very understanding if you reach out to him, he'll work with you to make sure you succeed. Ok so we had a lot of homework but the exam question were all pulled straight from the homework. Also we could bring an entire cheat sheet of whatever we wanted given it was handwritten. I screwed up and forgot my sheet once which led to me getting a 88 so a B, overall good professor, he also gave us bonus problems then truncated at 100
Dr Hernandez was awesome. Class was online but I met with him for help a bunch of times virtual and also in person. Exams very similar to assignments which is good! Webassign platform free for two weeks just like said. Gives clear instructions. Some people here do not follow instructions or cheat then complain. But Hernandez is very good. Take him!
To many test rules to follow and very complicated process with no room for single small mistake because it will result in a zero even if it is a final as if the class is not hard enough by it self. If you pass your one of the lucky ones.
I had a 66.83 and he failed me. Do not take him. He is not nice and is not lenient what so ever. Let me not forget to mention the tests are online and the testing services are horrible. You could have the correct answer but it still says your answer is wrong. I got a low grade on the final because of this and he did not care to review it with me.
Jaime Hernandez is a tough grader, He needs proper environmental SCAN. But I would only say he is a VERY KIND, CARING and REPLIES IN A VERY RESPECTFUL WAY. He gave me an A although some unintentional problems occurred to me during exam 1 and final. I would advise, PLEASE PAY PROPER ATTENTION TO HIS INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE EACH EXAM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is a very cool teacher, all his exam questions are from the WebAssign and he keeps telling students to finish and master them because he knows they are key to succeeding in his class, along with the fact you have a cheat sheet. However, the exams could be long so be very prepared.
The school needs to review how they hire people. Would not recommend this professor at all
This class itself wasn't terribly difficult, but his very strict testing rules were. So if you experience ANY kind of technical issues or don't record your environmental check video to his liking, you automatically receive a 0 on the exam with no 2nd attempts. He is rude and doesn't care if something went wrong. Please do not take this professor.
When I emailed him to clarify a few things I would still have some issues logging in the quizzes and he would respond very rudely. (keep in mind that I reread all of the instructions that were given)
The exams were annoyingly hard and long. I would not recommend; it would be better if he actually made the exams himself instead of using the Cengage questions. Topics where not taught in an easy-to-understand manner. Hes good at math for sure, but to me, he could improve at teaching.
Online class. Dr Hernandez gave clear instructions to test. Make sure you follow them. That's good so testing is fair to all. Exam questions resemble homework, which is nice. Make sure you do the homework. Can use cheat sheet which is nice. Met w/him several times to go over all exams. That helped a lot. Highly recommend him! Take him for Calc.
I took Cal 3 w/ Dr hernandez online and was a great class. He gave clear directions to navigate the course that other online teachers didnt. We had review sessions before exams, very helpful! He gave us nice powerpoint slides and video lectures to learn the material. I met with him to go over my exams which helped me a lot. Highly recommend him!
Challenging but rewarding class with a specific teaching style. Attend lectures, use the textbook, and stay on top of the heavy workload. unstuckstudy proved helpful for some extra prep. Overall, a solid professor who cares about student success.
The tests resemble the homework exactly and draw questions from the homework website. There are no study guides for tests. He will put random problems on the test that only appeared once in over one hundred homework problems. Do not assume because a problem appears multiple times in the homework it will be more likely to appear on a test.
Avoid this class. The professor doesn't teach and expects you to learn from Cengage. Homework is excessive, especially for rapid courses, and pointless syllabus quizzes discourage reaching out. Irrelevant discussions add unnecessary work. If you email, expect rude replies. He doesn't care about helping students succeed.
