she is fantastic, wants you to be your best, and will push you to find your own way there
She is really nice and helpful. The class is really intresting and insightful. If you need a history class take this one!! If you go to class and hand your work in on time you should do well.
I've taken several of her classes; she is one of the best professors I've ever had. Incredibly knowledgeable & informative. Takes great interest in wanting you to do well. I would definitely recommend taking classes from her, she is an awesome professor.
Prof Gordon is Very Knowledgeable. She is Kind and understanding and Wants you to Succeed in being a successful photographer as well as succeed in passing her class.
she's a pretty cool professor, very helpful & clear in everything she teaches. she talks a lottttt but pay very close attention to what she talks about because even tho she sounds like she's just talking, all the random facts she's throwing out there are on the exams. writing exercises (hw) worth 20% of your grade so do it. gives extensions on hw
i loved my photography class professor she made the class fun and inspired the students that aren't photography majors look at photos in a different way
Took her twice. Just excellent. You get what you put in.
Prof. Gordon is the real deal. I never had a professor that inspired me like she did. She loves photography in a way that is so deep. She shares her knowledge and passion with her students at the same time always asking for lur thoughts and feelings. She is one of a kind. If you have the chance to be in a class of hers don't miss out.
She is the best. Every beautiful word can use to describe on her! If you have the passion or prospect on PHOTOGRAPHY. Please take her classes. I believe you will like her more.
She's a nice person, less than favorable prof. I don't recommend despite the easy A. My main problem is that she goes off on a several tangents, and takes an hour just to record attendance. Granted, she's organized and has everything easily accessible online, and it's easy to reach her via facebook. Her class drags and saps my energy, so good luck.
She is an excellent professor and she is very passionate about what she is teaching! Lots of knowledges we learned from her classes are useful to study and personal. I decided to take all of her classes since I finished the first class with her. She wants you to grow and to do better in photography, she always give students good advices!
Professor Gordon was very insightful and inspirational! Her love for photography will shine throughout the course! Have fun!
Prof. Gordon knows her field well and makes sure her students learn the "Art of Photography" through her assigments. She gives feedback and has a lot of patience to sit down with students and guide them to edit their work to the next level. Students who come in not knowing anything about manual camera leave with published photbook in 3 months.
Amazing teacher you can tell she has a deep passion for photography.
Excellent professor!
Professor Gordon is super chill and you can tell she's very passionate about photography. It really does open your mind to another world especially if you go in without an interest in being a photographer.
If photography is a passion, the course is not difficult to stay on top of. I missed quite a few classes but I still managed to pass the course. She is available at all times outside of the classroom via email or Facebook, which was convenient. In my opinion, participation is required. You have to show her your progress as a student.
She's very inspiring, great teacher! I was not so passionate about photography before but she made me understand it and know the true importance of it. You would leav her class very well informed. Her class is fun and progressive at the same time.
Prof. Gordon is one of the smartest people that teach at LaGCC, her class is a must if you are serious about your artistic endeavours. Jaimie is a real artist and gave me a crit that pushed my creative writing and my project to the next level. Thanks to her advice I got a huge scholarship. Her class is on SVA/Yale level-seriously-you have to work
Loved professor Gordon. She is such an amazing person. Lectures were easy and interesting, she showed us a lot of videos, photographs and made the material so easy. Gave group projects and an individual project with 3 choices. In general, her tests are not hard at all , as long as you listen to her and pay attention in class.
Its a simple thing, come to class, do the work, and care about the work you do. She doesnt want anyone to coast through because this class not only teaches you about photography in its rawest form, but takes one on a journey through yourself. Prof. Gordon allows our personalities to really shine!
Absolutely amazing. She is a great professor. This was a history class and as a artist/photographer it gives the class a different spin. Great communicator and excellent projects.
She is so lovely. Easy to get a good grade in her class because she gives a lot of opportunities and extra assignments to reach your goal. I am recommending her 100%.
Jamie was a wonderful professor. I learned a lot from this class. She inspired me to continue working on my art. If it wasnt for her I wouldnt be where I am today. Shes very knowledgeable and was a great teacher!
An exceptional human being that cares for their students. The classes are fun and informative with assignments that dont feel like a chore. Jaimie is very understanding and will give you a fair grade for the effort you show, even if it isnt an exact reflection of your test scores (and thats a good thing). Thanks for being awesome!
I loved her class, makes me love film photography again.
Mrs. Gordon is a very talented proffesor who keep her students inspired. In Addition to that, she helps student to develop their techniques and open minds to new skills.
Amazing profesor and lovely human being!
Great teacher! Just STUDY for final!
Professor Gordon introduced me to the various alternative photographers i have come to love and be inspired by. I learned alot about the fundamentals of photography in ways that were interesting and engaging. I was inspired to take my interest and knowledge further thanks to professor Jamie Gordon. She was
An incredible educator with a wealth of knowledge at her fingertips, placed tenderly on her camera's shutter. From Photo History, to Intro Photo, to Alt Photo, Jaimie gives you the space to cultivate the artist within you -- all the while surrounded by the historical context of your predecessors -- allowing you to see YOUR present human condition.
Very good professor! She cares about her students, learned a lot from her class. Shes very patient, always love to encourage students to reach the goal, highly recommended!!
Such a great professor! One of my most memorable assignments while in college was when Professor Jaimie had us choose a photographer to imitate. I really understood the depth of why this particular photographer took her images and it helped me mold myself artistically which I was lacking beforehand. I wasnt taking risks and it felt good to do so.
Really love the feedback she gives, awesome professor and will definitely take her again whenever possible! She has really good eyes for photos!
Professor Gordon was very insightful and knowledgeable. It was a pleasure taking her course
Jamie has a great knowledge and love of photography in all its many forms and encourages and inspires her students to know their history and make great work. I took History of Photo and Alternative Photo with her and the classes helped make me a better artist.
Wants everyone to pass, so she goes the extra mile to make sure you understand and will give you everything you need to love the history of photography.
One of the best professors at LaGuardia Community College! If you don't like photography you will get inspired, and if you do you will neverwant put your camera down again! I recommend this class!
Jamie is perhaps one of the best professor at LaGuardia. She knows exactly what shes teaching and an extremely understanding fair compassionate person.
Jaime Gordon is an excellent professor. Shes very inspiring and has a sense of humor. I loved being in her class and seeing Photography and learning about it in her perspective. My love and appreciation for Photograophy has increased after taking this course.
Great teacher. Gives good feedback. Was honestly my favorite of all time. Shes also really cool and her work is dope too
She is good, I've learned a lot from her class.
Professor Jaimie is a teacher who teaches with passion. And, she tries to ignite that passion within her students. She is very understanding and receptive. She answers all questions, and provides creative assignments. She also goes with the flow of things and takes teaching to other levels outside of the classroom. She's great and knows her stuff.
Wonderful professor! Very approachable after class if you ever need to talk. Class was never dull, shes great at lectures and provided wonderful visuals and even brought in some daguerreotypes and a tintype if Im not mistaken. Very fun class.
Jaimie is a very good and caring professor. I had her in the intermediate photography class. When I decided my personal project, she tried her best to help me, about her connection of people, knowledge of photography and fine art. I appreciate for her help. Class was interesting. and you can get good grade.
Jaimie is an exceptional professor and amazing artist--I took my very first photography class with her when I was in college and I was so surprised to see how passionate a teacher can be when giving lectures and reviewing student work--she also puts things into perspective so that students can easily identify their own strengths. Super!
She's a great prof. Do your work, take your photos, make an effort and you'll get your grade A easily
She knows photography vey well and its very fun to pick her brain.
She was the best good luck.
A REAL GEM.
She gives attention to all students and you always can contact her easily! This class was the best history class i ever took. Prof g knows her subject because she loves it and makes students love it, and she gives the best critiques. She is very real, very cool and very beautiful! The class is great if you are photography major or not.
Professor Gordon is easily one of the best professors LaGuardia has to offer or will ever offer. You will walk out of that class as a changed human being with a new perspective on how you view not just art, but life. I encourage everyone to take any of the classes she teaches if you have a chance!
Shes such a great and fun professor to have! Shes has such a creative soul and it was a pleasure to take her class. She literally gives you everything you need through WordPress to help you study and pass the class.
I LOVE Jaimie; she is a passionate prof who sees beauty in everything, which is such a plus because she allows you to self-explore & helps you connect to your art in ways you may not have thought of before. Due to her passion, she tends to get carried away in talking about a subject, but she teaches you- she makes you reflect, & helps you grow.
Jaimie has the biggest passion on campus. It is such a rare thing to see in an experienced professor. Jaimie's passion for photography is as if she was the student!!! She LOVES what she does and what she teaches- and it SHOWS. And, she makes everyone feel so welcomed, important, and free to tap into whatever they want to tap into!
If you are looking for just an easy A, nope, look elsewhere. If you have a knack for photography, look nowhere else than her. You must have an understanding and interest in it to survive her class.
In a short session 2 we covered a lot from using a film camera. Developing film. Learning about the dark room. Scanning photos and the early stages of photoshopping. We comprised a book and I always looked forwards to taking her class.
Professor Gordon goes the extra mile to help students succeed
Jaimie worked on the class in such a way that it got me drawn towards learning more. Within 2 months, we were able to cover and learn a lot about film photography, developing films, pictures, scanning them and a lot more. Like any other classes the result depends on the effort and time you put in but overall, an amazing experience!
Professor Gordon has taught me a lot, especially when it comes to Photography, do not be discouraged by materials needed. She is willing to work with you, so don't be afraid to speak up. Honestly, if you're looking for a photography course this is the only professor I'd recommend !
I love this professor. She is very nice and easy going. Best professor in LAGCC. At the end of the class, you will surprise your final work.
Best professor ever. You would get an A if you do the work and she gives extra credit
Arguably the best professor in the entire school. She is fair with grading work & the study guides are beyond helpful. Her lectures arent boring & the HW doesnt feel like a chore. If you love photography as much as she does, youd love her as well
The professor did an excellent job
Very knowledgeable on photography. The prof will make you fall in love with photography and build a new respect for it. You will not be disappointed.
Professor Gordon is an amazing professor. She is the best professor Ive ever had at LAGCC and I mean it . I absolutely enjoyed her class and would recommend to take her classes.
Shes great and fun professor! It was a pleasure to take her class.
I really enjoyed the history of photography class with prof. Gordon. It was very informative and helped me understand photography in a much more sophisticated way. She has a very artistic persona which I enjoyed. She is willing to help students who are interested in this medium and to learn more than just the basics. I recommend taking her class.
Great class plenty of extra credit gives you a clear understanding of what photography really is.
She's definitely one of the best professors I've had so far at Lagcc. Definitely motivates me to be a better student and she has a great work ethic. Very knowledgeable about what she does.
Her test are easy just study the guide paper that she will give and you should be fine
I had the chance to work closely with Prof. Jaimie and I am so grateful. She is an amazing professor who knows very well her stuff. She is very helpful and kind. 100% I would get her classes again.
This professor was very good giving us a lot extra credit to do for those not good test takers. Also, her test receive are helpful to do well but if your not good in memorizing the extra always got your back. I recommend this professor to other students.
She is very helpful and can see her passion for photography. I learned a lot about my history in photography and would love to take her class again if given the opportunity. Exams are straight forward and will do great if you pay attention and participate in the lecture.
I really learned a lot in Professor Gordon class. She has very professional teaching skills. Therefore, I highly recommend this HUA class to students who want to know the importance of art and photography or become real artists.
Professor Jamie gives her students a deeper insight on the world of photography. She is very passionate about what she does & you can feel her enthusiasm through her lectures. She loves students to be engaged in the lesson. Her energy is pure & genuinely wants to see every student succeed, and will allot time for you to do so. Would take her again!
Professor Gordon is passionate about photography and you can feel it in all her lectures.
What a amazing professor. Loved her so much and loved her love for photography. She is very understanding and helps you so much. Would definitely take her again (:
She is a photographer who loves photography so it was fun to discuss about that. However, I didnt think I have learned what I was supposed to in the History of Photography course. I got some extra credits by helping her, but I just wanted to learn history then get a good grade to be honest.
The best professor that i ever had . Shes really amazing and you definitely need to put some effort in class. if you really want to learn shes the real deal .... i was scared of taking the class online but I actually learned alot .. thanks professor
You know when someone has a passion for what they do when this person is able to transmit it to others and Prof. Gordon is one of them. Even as an online class, I can say that I learned a lot in her class. Her passion and dedication for teaching can make anyone fall in love with photography.
during this class the lectures can be really long but also really good information and also interesting. the professor is kind and will help you understand as long as you put in the work. there are a lot of videos and readings involved in this class but the syllabus is fully structured. I recommend this class to students who want to do the work.
Professor Gordon was one of the nicest professor Ive ever had. Shes very flexible and I really enjoyed her class. Just do your work properly you will get an A.
I really appreciate Professor Gordon which I consider a highly prepared person in the class contents. Her classes are very dynamic, with a huge variety of strategies to teach . I learned a lot about the History of Photography.
This is my second time I had to take a photography class with professor Gordan. She is an amazing professor, always explains everything very clearly and also helps you individually outside of class if needed. Would 10/10 recommend to take at least one of her classes. Would love to attend another one.
If you do your work on time, its an easy A. She is really helpful, patient and exams are so easy
Of all the professors I've met, her class was the best. She has a great passion for teaching students and will learn a lot from her classes. I will take her class in the next class as well. I appreciate it.
I loved this class; while my major isnt photography, I learned so much about how photography has evolved over the years and what it was like to have a career in this field. Its inspiring and very informative! Youll learn so much about the world of photography!
Professor Jaimie Gordon is a sweet and honest professor. I had my fears going throughout the semester, however when she reached out to help me. It all changed for me. I would recommend her because of the growth you'll have with art and yourself. Just reach out to her even when you feel afraid or ashamed. She will help.
Taking Jamie's HUA238 class was one of the best decisions i made while being a student at LAGCC. She is a vast reserve of information and techniques,Jamie is truly able to meet you where you are at as an artist and give you what you need to grow, whether you are a newcomer to alt processing or familiar with it,you will get so much out of the class.
Jaimie Gordon is a first-rate photography professor. She's caring, attentive to her students, and will go above and beyond to ensure you have all the information you need to get an A in her class. Her method of teaching is insightful. She helps you truly grasp the material and learn to apply it to your own work.
History photography class was one of the most fundamental classes I ever taken. Prof. Jaimie made a huge impact in my photography career, even after taking her class she is always there to explain and share her knowledges.
Extremely understanding & knowledgeable professor that always wants the best for her students. Is great at what she does and it shows in her course. The course is NOT about alternate darkroom processing or printing. It is about alternative fine art photo processes like cyanotypes and such. Would definitely take again.
I wasn't sure at first about this course because it wasn't a prerequisite for my major, but after a week I started to enjoy it. That was fascinating, and the professor was wonderful..
Professor Gordon was a great professor. I am taking the HUA 202 online class and it was very easy class as long you follow her instructions and she thoroughly explains everything from the lectures, assignments, exams, and presentations. Also, she gaves guidelines for your midterm and final exam like literally the answers.
A great instructor! She put her effort and passion into her teaching. You will not only learn the history of photography but also will have self-discovery and self-growth after this course is done as you gain knowledge and skills. Definitely recommend Prof. Gordon! Following her instruction, and extra credit is offered!
For the past 3 months in this class, I learned something new about photography and I was never expecting to get an A-. Best class I ever taken at LaGuardia
Professor Gordon is great at what she does, I had a awesome time in my class learning new skills and soaking in all the knowledge she offered us. She is very understanding and made the class very interesting.
I had zero interest in photography, but this professor was fantastic, she's very nice and caring, and very passionate about her field of education as well. Getting anything lower than an A in her course would be hard. She's wonderful!
Jaimie is a very caring and inspiring figure that helped guide many to unlock their creative side and use their skills to create incredible works of art.
professor Gordon is one of the best teachers I've had to start my freshman year she gives great feedback, corrects you if you have something wrong and will sit and help you. she does have very long lectures so be prepare but overall I recommend her
I took this class even though I'm not a photography major, but I don't regret it. I took it during the short winter session, so I had to digest the material quickly. Professor Jaimie is incredibly helpful and easy to reach if you have any questions. The class was engaging and dynamic, and I'm now more proficient at taking and observing photographs.
I'm not a photography major but I was interested in shooting film. I liked her class, although it was hard for her to keep up with more than 20 students. She teaches you how to do everything and there's also many opportunities for competitions and such. She tells you clearly what she wants from you and her criticism is constructive and clear.
Teaches with passion, has a wealth of knowledge (and more than happy to share it), and will provide all the support you need to succeed in her class. She has high standards and wants students to explore. This is an advanced printing class. Do the work, stay for open lab, and communicate with her. Without a doubt would take her class again!
I took Professor Gordon at the beginning of this year, even though it's been almost a year, she is still one of the greatest professors I have taken. Her instructions are clear. She made working in the darkroom interesting and entertaining. She is good at giving feedback and helping you out when you are struggling. I would take her again.
Professor Jaime is nice.
Prof Gordon Is one of the best professor I ever had . She is very caring , she cares about the students , so as their grades . Whenever students text her , she always responds asap . If I Ever get a chance to take a class with her, I would Definately go for it . Highly recommend
Very caring professor, cared very deeply for her students.
Professor Gordon's HUA202 class was a highlight of my semester. The lectures were engaging, and I gained valuable insights into the history of photography. Using Unstuck ai alongside the course materials helped me ace the exams. Highly recommended!
Having Professor Gordon was the highlight of my semester. Her class is easy overall. All you have to do is pay attention, and complete your work in the darkroom. She made working in the darkroom a fun experience, she also gives great feedback for improvement. She is a wonderful conversationalist as well. I would love to take her classes again.
One of the best professors at LaGuardia. Cares for her students and is extremely passionate and knowledgable about what she's teaching. Genuinely enjoyed my time in her class.
A wonderful professor! Really cared, which is a rare trait at the college level honestly. Put the effort in and you'll enjoy yourself! Don't miss a class because you'll be wondering for yourself what amazing thing you missed out on learning about! Honestly, I wish I could take this class again. I feel like I grew so much under her guidance!
Amazing professor. Such a understanding yet daring professor. It was a good time.
Such a wonderful, supportive and caring professor! Pushes you to do your very best in the most helpful way possible, very knowledgeable about topics and creates a space for you to very proud of your accomplishments! Being on time and present is very important!
What sets her apart is the time and patience, She never rushes through material and always makes sure everyone is on the same page before moving on. Whether it's learning how to use manual settings on the camera or understanding how light and shadow create mood, she breaks it down in a way that's approachable and easy to understand Five stars!
Miss Gordon is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone and helped me realize that language barriers don't define my ability to communicate or learn. I highly recommend taking her classes! She's not only knowledgeable and passionate, but she also creates a fun, supportive environment.
Professor Gordon was very fun and educational. The course itself requires a lot of time in the dark room, but I found it fun to experiment with the craft of Photography. Mastering a craft can always be challenging, the Professor Gordon will help you get to where you want to go as long as you are willing to work.
Prof Gordon has the biggest heart. She always seems to be pulling for you. Really interesting assignments beyond just recognizing images: play with AI, family photo, NYPL research. Loved the "In the Footsteps" final project, even as a non photographer. So much incredible content. She is so passionate as a photographer and historian.
Professor Gordon is an absolute delight for lectures. She possesses an extensive knowledge of the history of photography and is always open to discussions during photo interpretation. She treats everyone with warmth and respect for their individuality. The class itself was quite lengthy, and it seemed more suitable for intermediate photographers.
Jaimie is a very informative professor with superior knowledge in the History of photography! I didn't pass but that had nothing to do with her, or the class. Overall I can't wait to take the class again, but it would need to be in a longer session! The course is intense, but not overwhelming!
Amazing professor! Her class was very easy and helpful with photography history and skills. Very easy to talk to and understanding. Loved taking her class.
