he is a nightmare. it can't get any worse than that. Does not teach a dawn thing he just sit his fat ass in class and expect you to understand everything on your own. He is the worst prof. you could have for ENG 103.
Take ather professor's Engr103. it is much easier.
Just three words: HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!! He is the worst professor a student can have. He does not teach anything and he is not open to questions. He does not care if the student is learning or not, he will just make your life impossible.
Avoid this professor. Very, very, very unhelpful. Wait until next semster to take this class if his class is the only one left open

poor incoming unadvised EE 103 freshman. i bet he increases the incoming freshman drop rate from the EE department. horrible... he thinks everyone has a Physics PhD. and he is not helpful when u ask questions either. good luck with 339 :D
Not a good teacher
What can I said to this guy.. uhh, very, very unhelpful professor. He think all students should know everything by their own before they take this course. Now I believe he is increasing the Engneering major students drop rate.
Hey you have recognize the guy knows his material. However, he does not have a clue aobut teaching. Horrible lecture. No class book, only his notes (which we cannot have either). So basically, you notebook is a bunch of nonsense formulas that not even its math you'd understand. Try to avoid him.

listen to me. this guy is serious. if you take him there is no way you are going to get an A.if you are the best in class you are going to get a B+.you are going to spend nights in front of the computer trying to verify your answers(if you are lucky enough to find the solutions online).he does not give any solutions to HW and no examples.nice guy

I made a stupid mistake to take his class with him. Students told me do not take his class. At the time I drop the class more than half of the students in my class withdraw from the course. This is only 2 credits class. Next semester I take the same class with a different professor, and that is the only reason I am proficient in MATLAB and UNIX.
I has no idea, how to behave with students.
the prospect of the class is simple, it is made to weed out engineers. Many people complain about difficulty, but the syllabus warns about the labor intensive nature of the course. Suck it up and study; If you're good at math, you'll do fine,if you're not, study. Manassah is actually a nice guy, but he does have his quirks. Keep your notebook neat!

Dont wast your time... He has a PHD and teaches at a PHD level. He gives no examples. To pass his test you better now what he meant for you to learn in all the HW's. never explains clearly what it is that you are to learn from the HW's Just dont take him... WAY TO HARD
mannassah is the best professor. He inspires me to continue my education at city college and to become successful just like him. His teaching strategy is perfect. Although there may be many who lack potential, they should not complain simply because they are not smart enough. There should be more professors like Manasah. Manassah is my hero. -*-

I just dropped this class yesterday. I can not stand him any more. He explained unclearly and made everything in difficulty.
I passed his class because I learned a trick. All his material is in the Stewart Calculus Book. Look everything up in the book and that will help you out a lot. 90% of the material in his book is in the calculus book, It is is a lot more helpful then. Dont let him break you. He is a horrible professor and everybody in the EE department knows it
he explains the students more about him rather than lessons. he thinks line he is the math king since he is doing research in math for 20 years. but we have seen professors better than him. he don't understands students problems and his goal is to finish his syllabus.that's all he does the whole semester. he does asks students do they have and ques

Never take him! If you do immediately drop, he is very obnoxious and very brash. This guy never should have gotten into teaching because he doesn't teach, all he does is puts frustration and agony into students. He bullies students into buying his book which hardly explains anything in systematically, his book is horrible and so is he.

In my class people were brave and stood till the end. Well, whoever managed to pass the class got a C- and I'm talking about smart kids overall. If you HAVE to take him, i suggest you to go to his office as much as you can. He's not a bad person, he's just TOUGH. This class is to see who's got what it takes to be in the EE or CSC department.

Professor 'Man****' is exactly teach like his name. you ask him question, he scold you back. you read his book in his class, he yell you again. you wanna fail? take him for sure.

Horrible professor, one of the worst professor at City college, do not ever take him, i was new and did not knew him so i took him, oh god, my whole semester went bad because of him, whoever is taking him, good luck u have to work really very very hard. Taking Manassah for a two-credit class is not worth the work. He is the only prof. that demands you buy a textbook (and he wrote it). He tells you to bring the textbook into class everyday or he marks you absent, but your not allowed to open the book for a majority of the time in class. He yells too much and is difficult to understand.
Avoid ManASSah at all costs!!! We started with over 20 students. Everyone dropped and there were only 2 students left in his class, if anything. With hope one of them might pass. Waste of time and money.
He is very tough and expects a lot from the students that's why a lot of students drop his class. I stayed to the end, I must say I learned a lot from him. Ask him questions otherwise he assumes the class knows whats going on and moves on, the book he uses is good for someone who already knows this stuff. The final was fair. got B for class, study!
what he expect ? he expect students to already know his course and advance math which not covered until junior/senior years, for God sake his class is for freshmens not graduate students...
He use's math that you learn in senior year. He treats people as if they are PHD level students in an undergraduate level class. You pay him to yell at you FOR NO REASON. He will make you work until your mind explode and whats worst is you will learn NOTHING. His book will make you cry trying to understand.It's a one way ticket to fail that class.

First off, the curriculum of the class is messed up. You go through math that you are supposed to learn later on. Being the "A--" he is, he makes you go through it all whether you like it or not. Good Luck guys, he is the only one teaching ENGR 103 now.
I wont denied what everybody says. But, just go to his office hours every week and ask him to explain u the exercises he assigned (obviously you have to show him you tried) just follow his rules, be respectful, take the book(the current version). It's true, this class'll take u A LOT OF TIME. Just follow this tips and you will pass the class easily
Never take this course without having the following: 1. Moderate programming knowledge of C++ or Mathematica. 2. Completed all of your math and physics courses. 3. Made a self commitment to read his book carefully and do all of the problems in the chapter.

He is the only one teaching engr 103 in spring 2011. You will DIE if you take him. Dont even try to be a man. I can assure you , you will get a F. Your whole semester will go bad if you take him. Many novice engineers take this course and fail because they do not read his book carefully. Just dedicate time to read it line by line, and do the problems. Otherwise, you will not succeed in this course. Don't waste your time, and money if your not commited to working hard for this course. It's easier than what Mannasah makes it seem. Believe me.

This class is pure hieroglyphics. I did not understand one thing from day one because he teaches on a level way beyond the standards. You will need to devote all of your time in order to have a slight chance of winning this complex puzzle. He gives 4 pop quizzes very easy to fail. His class is 60% and you will need more than your A game to survive.
DONT take Manassah. If you do , be ready to die. Manassah is mental sick.
he is teaching all the sections now and you will get F no matter what you do. He is 70 + something so he will be here for at least another 5-10 year. I talked to some people and found out price o him is equal to 3-4 F's for class so if 3-4 people save together you can send him on long awaiting retirement plan
Manassah is teaching all the ENGR 103 sections for Spring 2011. If you really want to get a F , then take him as soon as possible.

This class is made by the department and manassah to drop out potential EE students. One example will be this. Manassah covers CONVOLUTION in this freshmen class. But, you learn CONVOLUTION in Differential Equation In MIT. Manassanh and his gang can do whatever the want in CCNY because its a minority college.
RUN AWAY. Before ur brain explode. u will learn PhD level math in this freshmen class.
This is not a bad professor. Don't be concern with what people say of him. This's been one of the easiest classes so far for me. Just take the notes from the lectures and be ready for pop quizzes, there is like 4 or 5 of them. He might be tough sometimes, but don't let that intimidate you. Ask a question in the lecture and he will answer it.
Manassah is a genius. His class is very tough, and he expects students to work hard. But if you put in the effort you will do well. He teaches at an Ivy League level.
I can safely say that both the neg and pos comments are true. I've seen both sides. My advice is to try your best to go to office hrs. Last sem, I had a job that prevented me from doing that and got an F. This sem, I'm attending office hrs regularly and he says he likes my effort. Jury is out grade wise but I'm optimistic.Study hard,link with mates
Interesting. At the beginning,it's understandable why people don't like him (he skips essential steps when doing examples-and very few of them) but at the same time, studying makes all the diff. I didn't take differential eq. but I'm holding up. Even though the prof. still scares me (and I don't dare ask a question) I'm not scared of failing.

First half of the class is stuff you learn in diff-equations math391, homogeneous soltns, particualr soltns, general soltns, convolution; he expects you to know this from calc I and HS!!!!. Also you are expected to know geometric series and Taylor's series;stuff you would learned in calc III;his book is useless I didn't stay passed the first exam
You need to memorize 90 matlab programs to get 20 percent of final grade. I am talking about only 20 percent. NOw, you have an idea how much work you have to do to get 60 percent(minimum score to pass with c-). This professor is crazy. His only intension is to fail as many people as possible. Once, he failed every students in a section.
He is tough but kind. He expects students to work hard and doesn't accept mediocre performance. One of the few Profs with such high standards at CUNY. He could easily be teaching at any Ivy.

Get ready to memorize 90 matlab problems. It is "ONLY 20" percent of your whole grade. Now , you have an idea how much you have to do to get 60. 60 is the minimum passing score. 60 will give you C- . Have Fun guys.
CRITICAL ADVICE: If at all possible, take Math 391 **before** Manassah's Engr 103. A lot of what he covers in the lecture are differential equations. Learn them through a decent professor first, and it will help IMMENSELY. Also, study up on complex numbers and **MATLAB**. Especially MATLAB, because he doesn't teach it at all.
This is one of the best proffesors at ccny....hundred of students complain about him, but ask how many of those students really study and try to understand his material? It's not an easy class, but if you pay attention, ask questions, take pictures of his slides, and study after each session it is very easy to pass.
Nice proffesor. yu have to study if you want to pass. at the end you got what you earn in 17 weeks. 2 credits class, but you need to work as it was a 4 credit. No everybody is able to pass because no everybody is prepared to be an engineer. Good luck. I earned my A+
Not every one should be an engineer and upon this fact this course is designed . Prof Manasah is one of the best professors i have ever seen in my life . if u studied hard and lecture by lecture and go to him in his office hours , i bet u that u will get an A .for the labs try to get the solution and understand it and solve them by ur self .
Brilliant, but demanding prof. Intro course taught at a VH level. Many drop or fail, but many also pass and get As. You need to study a lot. Exams are fair. Good: Solid num.approach to solv. eng. pblms. Great book. Minus: You really learn Matlab on your own. If u've never programmed b4, u will struggle. Take more Math than required b4 taking this

The worst prof in my life! WHY? first, he assigns your seat! yes, in a college course. Second, he yells at you for like no reason.He doesn't teach you anything but he assumes you know everything. His book is useless and he wrote it, he doesnt post his lecture note online he wont give it to you even tho u ask for it!
He is an okay guy; still, his teaching method is ineffective. His 50 min lecture consists of a ppt. that presents theory & then lists problems. He expects students to instantly pick up new ideas & come up with solutions. Topics are not hard; but he doesn't give enough examples so preparing for exams is difficult, which is the frustrating part.

Unlike most comments in here, I think that professor Manassah, is a very good professor. Does he expect you to work hard? Yes. Is he a though grader? Yes. However, he means well and believes that CCNY students should be able to compete with Ivy League schools students. My semester with him was very difficult, but I learned a ton.
Here's his teaching style. He'll hand out lecture notes (pdf) via emails about 1hour before class, and expects you to master these lecture notes when you're in a class 1hr after He says that he will take question with lectures, but he ends up not answering and mocking students for their incompetence Super tough grader; no partial credit. don't take

Lol. Experiencing this class was a clown fiesta. Tests are a pass or fail, meaning that there is no partial credit, either u get it right or get a big fat zero for the question. Material is based on a class that almost everyone didnt learn from (quantum mechanics). Lecture notes doesnt really help and no solutions for hw. Good luck!

well never teach you anythinghis lectures feel like you are degrading in real time and losing any purpose in life, has failed me for the third time now and not sure if I am allowed to take the class again one reason I chose cuny is because of cheap price, but thanks to this class i will leave school with debt, if i ever graduate
WOW, I took this Professor over 10 years ago for an introductory coding course in EE undergrad. I've gotten several more degrees since then. This guy was the WORST WORST WORST Professor I have ever encountered in my entire life. Probably the single best reason to avoid CCNY Engineering. WATCH OUT for this one!!!
