He was an awesome Teacher!! My fav so far, he did not lecture u but invitedu into his life stories about them. Made you interested not just staring at the clock!!! If you can take him!!!

Great professor. Knows his stuff. Interesting course. I looked forward to going to his class everyday. Easy to pass if you show up.

Majority of tests are based on readings no matter what he says. Lectures give you insight on issues. Points arent superfluous so if you bomb one test you lose one grade immediately.

Nassar is a brilliant man. Knows the material, and cares about it, too. Genuine guy. Great professor.

Dr. Nassar is the BEST!! He really loves to come to class and teach. Even though it is a big lecture he welcomes everyone to speak out, and amazingly people really do. He makes you think about things most people are too afraid to say.

I took classes from him from 1982-86. Far and away the best professor I've ever had, in any subject. I switched to PolySci after taking one class with him. If you feel like a dummy every time you pick up a paper, take every class he offers.

High schools and colleges all across the country need more teachers like Dr. Nassar. I took his Non-Western politcs class back in 1998 and I really feel it was one of the most beneficial classes that I took at ISU.

I was fortunate to have learned from this man. I graduated in 1996, but I would be very interested to get his take on current U.S. politics. He helped me to become a better teacher. Always look at things from more than one point-of-view.

Easy, but you do learn alot. Likes student input, will always answer questions.

Remove your red, white, and blue blindfold and prepare to get rocked! This guy knows what he is talking about and is always open to debate. If you do choose to challenge him to a debate you better have your stuff together because he is a genius.

everyone needs a lil nassar these days to remind us of who we really are. you learn multitudes. class is easy if you know your stuff, but many get overconfident before his tests. hearing the story about hitchhiking from palestine to dallas... priceless

This man is political science personified. He exudes the discipline and his excitement is infectious. If you have the chance take a class with him, you life will change.

Interesting yet relatively challenging. I took POL 349 with him over the summer and it is one of the best classes I've ever been in -- this is coming from a Telecom Major outside the POL department. GREAT professor.

Very interesting, you will learn A LOT from this guy. Be prepared to read a lot. Tests are very random, and pretty hard. You learn a lot, but don't expect an A.

Fabulous teacher! He is amazingly brillant and intelligent. He tells it like it is and apologizes to no one. He has a great respect for government and democracy! You may hate politics but his enthusiasm is contagious! Lectures are exciting and interesting! Quite liberal but fine by me.

I've learned more from this teacher than any teacher I have ever had. I would love to get his take on the world post September 11th.

AMAZING Lectures. Dr. Nassar really gets into the subjects he discusses. Has really interesting stories and gives great examples. Tests are not that bad, just read carefully and pay attention to lectures.

Very interested in what he is teaching and very knowledgeable. Considerate of how much work students have - he moved tests and only gives tests on Wednesdays. Tests are random but go to class and read chapters, at least once. Highly recommended

Although Nassar is highly thought of and may be knowledgeable, he is a very one-sided liberal teacher. He stretches the truth and exagerates other information and isn't called out on his mistakes unless a student knows that he is wrong and has the fortitude to say it. You will learn a lot...the trouble is it will just be what he wants you to learn

He is well respected and I was expecting an awesome teacher but he was alright. Nice guy, reminds me of a cute grandpa :) Knows his stuff and is a bit one sided but its my side so who cares. Take his class you'll learn something for sure. Teaches like he is telling a story that way everyone will learn.

I can honestly say that he is the best professor/teacher I've ever had. I've had him for 3 different classes and enjoyed every single one of them. He's a professor that has earned my respect.

AWESOME. His books are interesting, and he is very approacable and a great person. He wrote my wonderful recommendations for when I transferred to another university and is someone I HIGHLY respect.

"liberal and one sided" is not an accurate way to describe Dr. Nassar. That maybe your perception of him, but obviously you hold some preconcieved notions that do not agree with what he is saying. just listen to him! he tells truth! wake up! Dr. Nassar is very fair!

Good teacher...enjoyable class

I had Dr. Nassar 10 years ago and still remember how interesting and challenging he was/is. If you have the opportunity to take him, I highly recommend that you do. Moreover, he isn't afraid to criticize US foreign policy. We need more truth-tellers like him in this world.

Okay, first of all, I went to this class a total of...MAYBE 10 times the entire semester. I'll end the semester with an A. Nassar is opinionated, but the class is extremely easy- he gives a full list of terms on each exam, and there's a GA led review session the night before each exam. Good class for outercore.

This wasn't difficult at all, and you can easily get away without going to class. But Dr. Nassar is such a great personality that I went usually just to hear him lecture. I enjoy his outlook on teaching and his methods, incredibly interesting and I would recomend him to anyone who has a chance to take his class.

Best Teacher I've Ever Had!!!

Dr. Nassar knows his information very well and if you go to the review sessions and the last day when he reviews for tests, you are going to get a good grade on his tests. The book is helpful for the paper, but you don't really need it the rest of semester so SHARE with friends.

Jamal Nassar is a badass. He may be the best teacher I've ever had. Class is great, he explains everything very clearly, makes every sing lecture interesting. He doesn't have an attendence policy, yet i went every class. Take this class!

Jamal Nassar, what a truely genuine great individul, the best teacher in college I have ever had! Hes passionate about political science. Has a sense of humor like no other professor and he will educate you in ways youve never been educated before!

I freaking loved Nassar anad his Politics of Africa, Asia and Latin America class. It thought that it would be a boring gen-ed class that I had to take, but it ended up being my favorite class. He has such a cute accent and he really knows what he's talking about. I highly reccommend this class and Dr. Nassar.

Absolutely awesome teacher. The course content is interesting if you enjoy politics, and he doesn't believe in "trick questions" on tests. If you show up to class and read the notes in the margin in your textbook, you should be able to get an A/B no problem. Review sessions are helpful if you miss a class, and he's very friendly. Excellent teacher.

Straight up, he is a great teacher. Loves what he does, loves to discuss things in class, is very clear about everything and doesn't have tests aimed at "tricking you". You'll write a 5 page paper on a subject from the book and have 3 exams. He has good stories and will help you think outside the box. Definitely recommend for POL 140

Going to class will get you an easy A. Read the text. Not much information to go over. Stories are interesting in class.

I only attended this class 5 times and i still got an A in it. he's a very easy teacher and as long as you put in some effort, you will get an easy A. don't bother reading the text, just study the definitions on the side of the pages, and make sure to go to the review session. if you study those, there's no need to ever go to class!

Very easy class, if you show up take notes and read the book before the test you will ace the class. One paper for whole semester only 20 points, easy grader. Lots of in class discussions.

Dr. Nassar is amazing. He makes the class interesting and makes you look at things in a totally different way. He is the best professor I have ever had and I'm really sad to see him leaving ISU. He will sincerely be missed.

Fantastic professor. I learned so much and he was always available for questions to be answered or questions with the major. His life stories were fantastic as well.

Such an intelligent individual. I would suggest attending his class because a student can learn so much. Grade does not affect how much a student learned. Three test and a final (optional). 50 random questions. Writing assignments would be more fit for this class. Many people recieve A's who learn nothing.

It is rare to find a professor like Dr Nassar. He was passionate and intelligent about everything he talked about. Truly an amazing individual who made you want to change the person you are to better the world around you. I am grateful to have had him as a teacher before he left ISU.

I took Jamal Nassar's Intro to Non-western Politics (145) way back, probably 1983? His was one of the better intro courses I took and opened my mind to politics in/and of the "third world". My hat's off to Dr. Nassar! Too bad ISU has lost a good one. To Nassar: Keep up the good work/enthusiasm! My memory of his lectures is proof of his worth.

I worked for Dr. Nassar as an undergraduate teaching assistant. While I did not always agree with his view of the world (not a surprise being from such different backgrounds) working for him was always interesting and enlightening and he forced me to look at the world in a way I had not prior to this.
