She's a new professor. She can get pretty scattered and confused sometimes, but she makes sure to set things straight. Tests arent that bad if you study, she makes sure to give a lot of extra credit and study guides.
Very nice teacher who wants her students to do well. If you go to class, take notes, pay attention, and go to study sessions, you WILL get an A.
It's her first year but she is definatley trying... If you have any problems go to her and she is willing to do anything to help you out.. her test are so/so some are more difficult than other's it depends on how much time you have to study and how much you had the week before... she's a good professor and I would recommend her!
I think that professor Hubbard is great! She gives a lot of extra credit, which is awesome. I also think that the tests are very easy if you study. I have like 105% in the class!
Great professor! She gives you study guides so you know what's going to be on the tests - if you study them you'll do fine! She's always willing to help and wants her students to do well. Sometimes she gets a bit lost or goes too in depth, but she corrects her mistakes. Highly recommended :)
Jamee is a great teacher who really doesn't grade all that hard. She understands the students troubles and can relate to them. I stongly recommend taking her!
She was a very good and informative teacher. She is very willing to help if you just ask. She tells you exactly what will be on the test. She gives some extra credit. I would recommend her to anyone who is in Bio 160
I found her very helpful when I approached her.
Easily the worst prof. I've had yet. Doesn't seem to understand what she's talking about, ever, and even uses wikipedia as a source for tests and lectures. Stumbles and stammers a lot, and confuses herself easily, even on simple subjects like the scientific method. Lots of extra cred, however, gets you the A in her class.
Jamee is not a tough teacher. She shows enthusiasm for the subject matter and is a very caring person. Exams were very lecture based and straight-forward!
She is a really nice person and wants to help her students. however, she is extremly unorganized, forgetfull, and sometimes will get off topic. You can get through the semster if you go to class, keep asking her questions, and read the book.
I didn't think she was that bad. its true shes alittle disorganized and can be confusing, but shes reasonable. she gives her students a chance and isn't doesn't give impossible exams. I would recommend taking her.
I like Hubbard. She is in the process of restructuring the class so that lab and lecture go together more. She gives lots of extra credit, all quizzes are group quizzes which is awesome. She's good.
This woman is a mess. She confused herself at least five times every lecture and never seemed to know her facts. Her lab quizzes were impossible. She would ask you ten questions on a ridiculous amount of material. I am an above average student and I failed every lab quiz. Her lecture exams are easy.
Jamee is an AWESOME teacher and gives LOTS of extra credit. Get anyone but her and be screwed. EVERY lab quiz is a group one and if you go to her for help...that will boost your grade...mine did from a B- to a B+ just my seeing her! Shes so caring. I was sick and she gave me an extra 2 weeks to make up a lab exam...which is unheard of! EXCELLENT!!!
She is a great prof. Lab exams are hard and plan on studying if you want a good grade. if you get an A or A- in the class you don't have to take the final! she is a little unorganized, but she knows what she is talking about and is very approachable. she also curves and gives extra credit.
Jamee was very nice and knew a lot about the topic. But, her tests were really hard and the lab was even harder. Be ready to study ALOT!
She requires much more to learn for the tests than other teachers. She doesn't always agree with the book and usually will mix up things. She then will go back later on in the week and tell you to fix it. My advice don't get her as teacher.
This teacher is a lost cause. At least once a week she sends an email correcting something she taught that day. She is extremely picky about tests. A really hard class to even reach a B in.
This teacher is a lost cause. At least once a week she sends an email correcting something she taught that day. She is extremely picky about tests.
This teacher is extremely difficult, and acts annoyed when you ask for help. She is really picky about her tests
This teacher really does not have a clear way of thinking. She sends many emails correcting herself from her lectures. She makes it really difficult to do well in her class unless you quote her word for word and have many hours to spend on only her class.
I went into BIO very excited. I now hope I never have to take another class. Jamee is ridiculous. Class average on her exams was often a D or lower. She can't stand non-trads, and doesn't hesitate to let you know you waste her time when approached for help. She's VERY inconsistent, will mark direct quote from lecture wrong on test; bias in grades!
Dr. Hubbard wasn't here most of the time because she was on maternity leave, but getting to know her after she came back really helped me in the end. Her lecture & lab exams were okay, but if I had truly studied, I would've done better. She is detail-oriented, but loved it when I came for help. It boosted up my grade one entire letter in the end.
one of if not the worst professor ive ever had, jumps around way to much when teaching, makes it ridiculously hard to follow, makes an assignment out of tabbing our lab book? what are we 8 years old again?
I was extremely excited for this class at the beginning of the year. Now I absolutely loathe this class. She stumbles a lot and has to go back and clarify herself through email re-caps. She's very vague and expects you to know more than some do.
I enjoyed this class a lot, if you go for help when unsure of something early and often you will do well. You can tell she loves it when people go to her for questions. (Just dont ask something that you could easily get from the book. Very nice woman, just stay on her good side.
She is a very nice lady but sometimes hard to understand. She is very scatter brained and sometimes goes off on random tangents but they are interesting. You never use the book at all. Labs are hard but if you study a week in advance you will be ok. Lecture exams are not that hard. If she uses an example in class use it on her exam she loves that!
GREAT teacher. She is easy to talk to & is willing to help you out. She is a little disorganized, but some great teachers are. When she feels she has confused the class, she back tracks, re-explains & even send out an email to recap! I love her excitement of teaching & learning. If you work hard & show interest, you will do great in her class!
She is unorganized and sometimes hard to fallow. She seems to have to worst luck ever and usually confused. Make sure you read over the notes and quote her on the exams...she likes that and will sometimes award extra credit if using her examples. Lecture and lab exams are hard but STUDY I got an A
she is a nice women, but a terrible teacher. she is amazingly unorganized, and feels the need to recorrect herself very often. Tests are overly hard, and doesnt present the material in a way its easy to learn.
Very nerdy, which is great for a bio teacher! Very helpful if you ask for help during her office hours. Not always clear in lecture, but if you let her know that, she may send a class email out after, further explaining the material.
By far the worst bio teacher I have ever had. She is very nit-picky and anal about wording to short answer questions on the test. Even if you write word for word what she had on the board, you will not get full credit. I attended study group every week and learned more from the tutor than Hubbard. She also shows huge favoritism.
She is a great professor. She juggles an enormous amount of work and does it well. Her students are her first priority. She is human and has two small kids. She provides ample resources for studying, you just need to try. She tries to make this subject fun. Definitely take her class if you want to learn. Her tests are fair, but manageable.
Confusing lectures, she's always correcting herself, and likes to rant about insects. She's nice enough. Just not a fan of her class or the way she teaches. She uses terminology that she just expects people to know w/out explanation which is difficult especially with confusing material.
Great class! Prof. Hubbard did a great job teaching a lot of info. She sometimes jumped around some subjects, but otherwise very organized. Quizzes on D2l are almost the same as the exam Helpful and always answers questions. Passionate about the subject and makes it fun! Lab was easy and tests were fair. I loved this class i definitely recommend it
Hubbard is a wonderful, nice, enthusiastic, smart, and funny woman. She knows everything about Entomology, and she really does seem to try to convey her information. The problem is this.. She's rediculously scattered, and her tests are terribly difficult. Otherwise, she's awesome.
Had Dr. Hubbard for entomology. She's very passionate about her work and very easy to talk to. She even brought the class donuts and coffee on occasion! People who whine about her are most likely slackers who don't realize that you're supposed to do work and pay attention in college.
Great Professor! Passionate and helpful, but also demanding. Heaven forbid that a prof expect one to not only know the material, but be able to communicate that knowledge clearly. You will be the better for it in the end.
The class overall is good, the teacher is extremely confusing. She comes off as knowing nothing and backtracks so much it's easy to get lost.
Very confusing! Do not take her. She is such a nice person, but she is not a good teacher.
Very helpful teacher. Since there is so much overlapping material she sometimes has a hard time figuring out where to go with it (which is understandable). Either way, she makes concepts easy to understand. She gives outlines to use to take notes in class..tests are straight forward-just read the outlines! I recommend her!
I thought that this class was going to be very interesting. I had never learned any of this information before and it was extremely difficult. She back tracks all the time and it's hard to understand her and what she wants from the students. I do not recommend.
Back tracks, scatter brained, and does not get her points across. She just leaves the class hanging half of the time. She is difficult to understand.Second lab exam killed everyone, we had a 14 point curve!
Dr. Hubbard is a great professor. She expects a lot but is extremely helpful if you ask her questions. Exams are very fair and class is interesting. Attend class and put the time in and you can easily do well. If you slack or skip class your grade will affect it. Overall, would definitely recommend her!
Biggest complaint with Dr. Hubbard is that the course is unorganized at time. It becomes hard to get consistent answers out of her. The insect collection that is required is way to large as well(need around 120 species to hope to get an A on it)
A little disorganized at times, so she can be a little tough to understand. Lecture and exams are fairly easy with a decent amount of extra credit. Lab practicals are tougher (a lot of memorization -no way around it). She obviously loves what she teaches, which really boosts the course quality.
She is slightly unorganized, but she is very helpful. I hate Bio but she definitely made it more interesting. Exams are okay, IF you study. Didn't use the textbook very much at all. Exams are pretty much based on lecture material. No lab exams this semester(YAY!) but weekly group quizzes which aren't too bad at all. If you study, you will do well.
Disorganized, unclear, and confusing. You REALLY have to pay attention to do well, and when she sends out emails, be sure to read ALL of them. Her thoughts were really unorganized, and i'd give the class a 2/10 solely because i did actually learn something even though she didn't teach it well
Difficult to understand and was not helpful when I asked questions and wrote down something wrong but when was tested on it and wrote down what she had she marked it wrong and said that she corrected herself on a later date and I should have known that.
TERRIBLE teacher& person! Extremely unorganized, stuck up,& grades ridiculously! Tests in lab every single week that she asks ridiculous questions on that you aren't prepared for. Lecture exams are crazy hard& long& she grades so harshly& crazy that you can get every question right& still fail which happened to me multiple times! Do not take this!
Good teacher, means well. Wants to see students succeed and is accommodating. Will help you if you need help. That being said, her lectures are a bit scattered and the material is a bit hard to process. I never knew what was the exact info we needed to know. Expect lots of emails. She will help if you ask her for it though.
Super easy class! She's really nice and her quizzes can get a bit confusing, but if you do all of the assignments and use the study guide you can easily get by with at least a B. Course flowed really well with subject matter.
She can be a bit unorganized but she is interested in what she teaches. Wonderful class and if you have an A by the time finals come, you don't have to take it!
Professor Hubbard is a bit unorganized but when it comes to the tests she does give a study guide where if you understand that you will be fine. She is very helpful in clarifying anything you might not understand. I would say go to class and pay attention to lecture. The class is easy even if you haven't taken biology in a while.
Dr. Hubbard is very helpful if you are confused about anything. Go to her office hours! Sometimes she can be confusing in lecture. Make sure you study for the pre-lab quizzes as well. Tests aren't too bad, a mix of multiple choice, free response, matching and true false are typical. There's also extra credit available on the test and in general.
very unorganized doesn't teach the content well. she often emails you material she couldn't cover in class, sometimes its a whole lecture that you have learn on your own. avoid taking her if possible!!!
This class should have been much easier than she presented it. Her lectures were all over the place and she would go off on tangents frequently. The class isn't terrible and the coursework is on the lighter side but she designs her tests to trick you (I'm not kidding she puts it in the directions!).
Her lectures are all over the place and she makes it way harder than it needs to be. She is extremely unorganized and at times seems as though she's lacking confidence in what she is saying. At times, with how scatter-brained she is, and how much she contradicts herself, it comes off like she doesn't really know the material that well.
Professor Hubbard was an amazing professor. If you show up to class and review your notes and her slides for the exams you will for sure get an A! Reading the book is not necessary unless you are struggling with a topic then I would recommend it. As a bonus if you have an A at the end you don't have to take the final, A- is your choice to take it.
Notes and lectures are confusing and she seems pretty scattered during classes. Quizzes in lab are tough but she lets you work with your lab group many times. There are always extra credit opportunities at the end of the exams which helps a lot. The best part of the class is that if you get an A or above you can opt-out of taking the final exam.
Dr. Hubbard may be one of the worst professors i've ever had. She's extremely unclear about what she wants, her lectures are all over the place and hard to follow and she is extremely rude when you ask her questions. I would never want to take her class again.
Expect to have to give a kidney to pass this class. Seriously; I have never had an introductory level course require so much of my time and effort before! To the point that it even dragged down other classes. I get that college requires work, but her testsquizzes (almost 1 a week) seem like they are meant to trick rather than teach.
She is one of the best profs I had at point as a biology major! She is very helpful and will really appreciate you coming in during office hours if you're confused about something. She really wants her students to succeed!
Dr. Hubbard seems very unorganized most of the time. She says to study the questions at the end of her power points for exams which is sometimes the case but not always. However, you need to attend class and take detailed notes because most exam questions come from lecture and if not from lecture be sure to read your textbook as wel
Dr. Hubbard has good intentions but often gets confused and fumbles on what she is trying to say. Her lectures can be very confusing. She has one question quizzes every day from the previous lecture. Only good thing about her class is you don't have to take the final if you're getting an A or A-. Avoid taking her if possible,
horrible
Do not take Hubbard for 270. Her tests are lengthy, which I wouldn't have minded had it not been for her ridiculous grading method. She marked me down for using a slash. Her grading criteria and even schedule are constantly changing and up in the air. She told a student once "I didn't say that, the syllabus did." Who writes the syllabus...
Jamee Hubbard is extremely unorganized and is often unsure of what she is saying. She gets sidetracked during every lecture and that ends up not finishing the material but will expect you to know it on the exam. Absolutely avoid taking at all costs. Worst professor Ive ever had.
By far the worst biology professor I have ever had. Very unorganized, test questions are general but she expects very specific answers. Doesn't know the course material and fumbles her way through explanations. She changes the schedule constantly and her grading doesn't make a lot of sense. Avoid taking her if possible, more stress than its worth.
Awful. She is one of the most unorganized professors i have ever seen. She is a hard grader and the lab does not match up with the lecture material.
Dr. Hubbard is a great professor and extremely knowledgeable. She has daily lecture quizzes (2 points) so it is important to look over your notes before attending lecture. Her lab quizzes can be difficult so it is important to thoroughly study. Attending SI is extremely beneficial. She wants you to know the information and become invested.
This class was awful. I was incredibly pumped to take this biology class, and then I got there. She started the class oddly; we started on the third chapter because she made ridiculous assumptions about our prior biology knowledge, which led to many students falling behind. A bit rude, arrogant and unkind to students seeking help. Not a 100 level.
she taught me HOW to study in college, which is vastly different from high school. She knew most students by name, and I could walk into her office for help any time I needed. However, the material itself was difficult, so I did need to put many hours into the class.
all over the place, way too hard to follow in lecture
Dr. Hubbard is my favorite professor at UWSP. I took entomology a couple of years ago sort of on a whim. I didn't realize how much I loved it until I took her class. She is knowledgeable and passionate about the subject and it shows in her lectures. Her energy made the class exciting to me. The class is challenging, engaging, and interesting.
Lectures are completely disorganized. When taking notes, you must leave huge spaces because she WILL go back and add 3 lines of information way after moving on to a different topic. The class meets twice a week for three hours, including lab, but be prepared for a 2 1/2 hour lecture and an apology that there isn't time to work on your collection
Teaches topics way too fast. She also explains things way too in detail which gets annoying. Seems like she only cares about teaching the course material and not if we understand it or not. Her lecture and note taking styles are peculiar, as the info in her presentations are often worded weird and have abbreviations, so studying is very difficult.
She does mean well but she is not a good teacher by any means. She expects you to write everything on the board and everything she talks about. She assumes her students about not using resources correct when we would have no resources to go on. Notes are disorganized and she seems disorganized as well. Doesn't seem confident.
She gives so much homework and doesn't seem to grade it for weeks. She doesn't prepare you properly for the test even though she gives you exam preveiws. Gives out way to much information to comprehend and focus on. Overall, don't take this professor unless you like a lot of homework and stressful tests and quizzes. Had to work really hard for a B.
Very unorganized and expects you to know everything from lectures, labs, and from the textbook but doesnt give a good explanation on what it is or how it works. Gets very behind in grading work very quickly, I had an assignment turned in in February that was graded till mid- May right before finals. Just try to avoid taking her course at all cost.
Online classes I didnt learn hardly anything it was all out of text books and we hardly had any videos or help from her, It was super frustrating because I felt like i was struggling all the time. There were never any lectures, just read the book and take a quiz. Also there was always tons of homework. I never knew what to study.
Althought Dr. Hubbard was very willing to help me understand my work, I taught myself this class. I know there is COVID and adjustments had to be made, but I would've failed this class if I didn't happen to know something about everything we talked about that. I still ended up with a C and I'm surprised it wasn't worst than that.
Awful, she blamed all of us for failing one of her exams when it was the way she was teaching it that made everyone lost on the exam. The final was suppose to be even from all the previous exams but she only put two pages from the previous one and the rest was all on one lecture from a day ago
Dr. Hubbard is a better 1-on-1 prof. Over online lectures and her multiple Canvas reminders a day would keep you busy with nonstop work. Heavy notes, many hours of long lectures to find many test ?s w/ material you didn't even cover. Says it supplemental? Nope. Do it. Want fast grading? Nope, went until two weeks prior to final until I got grades.
She struggles with organizing her lectures and labs. Our first exam class average was 18 points below a passing grade and she said it was 50/50 on us and on her. She is unnecessarily specific and uses her own definitions which makes studying hard. She also gets flustered in lecture making it hard for students to follow her lecture materials.
Tough tests mannnn
She did an awful job teaching this class. She got flustered and then would go off track. Went in depth on useless information. Brought her child to an exam once and class. Very specific grader meaning if it's not exactly how she words it, its wrong. But if you bug her enough she will give you extra points. Exam scores are well below average.
Although many of the gripes are correct -- especially around the lack of lecture preparation -- Dr. Hubbard is willing to help you when you ask for it. If you take responsibility into your own hands and check up with her a few days to a week before an exam, you will be set on the right track with a 1-on-1 meeting with her. Emphasis: ATTEND LECTURE!
Dr. Hubbard takes a good portion of lab, up to an hour and a half, to go over the processes of that lab. Can be very boring at times, as it may go over things you've just learned in lecture.
You are expected to basically memorize the lectures and she gives you a 50 question test and expects you to answer 29 multiple choice questions, 8 fill in the blank, 4+ short answer and 2 matching. However, she wants an essay for the short answer. The test covers 4 chapters, and you only have 50 minutes to do the test.
Her instruction and ability to answer questions in a concise and efficient way are slim to none. The point total was never finalized until we got our grade. She would rant about topics that didn't even appear on the exam. Additionally, if we wrote word for word what she said was the answer she will tell us that it is not detailed enough or wrong.
Takes on too much content per semester, takes weeks to grade, and often doesn't give great feedback. Takes a lot of points off for minor spelling mistakes, slashes, other symbols like pluses and &.
I would not recommend any class with professor Hubbard. She comes to class unprepared, lectures are a mess, and often confuses her students more than she helps. At one point she was so behind that a majority of lectures were not covered before an exam, so we had to learn it ourselves days before it. Expect excuses when people fail in her classes.
Not clear about exam expectations, makes me feel intimidated to ask her any questions, she can never get through a lecture, spends a lot of time on small topics, expects people to regurgitate answers, and it's her wording/way or no way. At least her study guides will help on the exams and she puts extra credit into exams.
I would never take a class with Hubbard again. She is throughly unorganized and did not finish a single lecture. She would get through no more than 40% of the lecture slides and then expect you to finish them outside of class on your own. On top of that attendance is mandatory even though you are teaching yourself more than half the material.
Some will say that she sucked, but by the end of the semester I actually felt like I retained most the the information. For the exams she provides study guides that literally have the same questions that will be on the exam so study those well and you will do fine.
I would never take a class with Hubbard again, she is the worst Professor I have ever had and does not teach while you are in lecture. You are show up for your 8am class everyday due to mandatory attendance however you end up teaching yourself the material anyway because she would be unable to teach the alphabet to 30 year olds STAY AWAY! 0/5 stars
This teacher is nice, but can't word exam and quiz questions like a normal person. She also gaslights you into thinking this doesn't happen. She will reference the most niche parts of lecture that aren't on the notes because, "everything in lecture has a chance of being on the quiz".
This was my second time taking this class, because my first time was horrible and I ended up withdrawing from it anyway. She gave us an option to do online exams, only the correct answers were wrong. When I confronted her, she gaslit me and told me I was completely wrong. She also makes you learn the material by yourself. BEWARE!!!
Dr Hubbard fails to get through the material in lecture, she tells us she will get through and relies on us to teach ourselves the rest of the information even though that will still be on the exam. Her tests are very confusing, and questions can be interpreted in many different ways. She is constantly distracted, and disorganized.
She is very scatter brained and doesn't use her time wisely. If she doesn't finish a slideshow she sends it as homework. She gets through one slide a day and is all over the place. Also very particular and nit picks everything.
Very nitpicky about things that shouldn't matter on a presentation such as font size, slide color, font choice. She struggles to get through a complete slideshow almost every lecture. Most days we spend all 50 minutes on the same slide and are then told to review the material on our own because it will still be on the exam.
Some others will say that Dr. Hubbard is a terrible professor, but I think she teaches the class very well. Professors have a lot on their plate too, so you cannot expect them to be seamless. Cannot stress enough the importance of attending lecture, as notes will sometimes be on the whiteboard. As long as you follow instructions, you will be fine.
I almost feel bad writing this, as Dr. Hubbard is a genuinely nice woman. However! She's an awful professor. You have to study almost all the material on your own because she barely gets through lecture. Lose track of one of her many tangents? Lose points on the exam. Incredibly nitpicky despite having consistent typos on exams. Very disorganized.
super lecture heavy but she never can get through a slideshow in one day. be prepared to teach yourself most of the content as she will not be able to talk about it in class bc she uses too much of her time drawing diagrams. again, she cannot get through her own slideshows so some labs will be 2 hours of lecture and 45 minutes for the actual lab.
she's a very nice person, but terrible as a professor. she almost never gets through an entire lecture and expects you to teach yourself the material outside of class. it was a consistent problem throughout the semester. very nitpicky but consistently has typos on exams and quizzes. her way or the highway
Dr. Hubbard is very scatter brained and is not very tech savvy, she takes long periods of time to grade single assignments and goes on lots of tangents. Dr.Hubbard's Bio190 class is required for biology majors yet the class was neither helpful or a good experience. Attendance is 50% of your grade and she keeps attendance on papers she loses a lot.
Most disorganized professor. Could not stick to her own schedule. Had premade exams and would not remove questions that were covered in canceled modules or canceled labs. Went on irrelevant tangents on personal research that did not promote class topics nor were relevant for the exam. Did not give good email responses or help.
Extremely disorganized and long-winded; often doesn't finish lecture slides and expects you to learn an unreasonable amount of information on your own. Attendance is mandatory, even though you learn so much of the material on your own. She talks for hours in labs, and previous student projects (with names) were used as examples of what NOT to do.
This has been the absolute WORST college class I've ever attended. It's so all over the place and unorganized. You're not allowed to talk during class, not even to ask your friend a question. Absolutely no phones either (she will call you out infront of your entire class) Goodluck Soliders you're gonna need it!
This will be the absolute WORST college class you will ever take. The lectures are all over the place and nothing is organized. Good luck trying to ask your friend for help, you will be told to stop talking and "raise your hand to talk, you should be taking notes".
I made up the final score, as I am currently enrolled and I am already regretting my decision. She stresses me out, she is all over the place and barely gets through two slides in a 50-min period. She does seem passionate about the subject, but gets easily carried away. It's the second week of classes and she is already assigning so much for labs.
Professor Hubbard's class is challenging, but engaging with her teaching style pays off. Attend lectures, use the textbook, and try Unstuckstudy to prepare - it really helped me stay on top of the material.
Worst professor I have ever had in my entire life. She assigns "homework" but it's new material you have to teach yourself. If you care anything about your mental health DO NOT take this class.
Dr. Hubbard made an already hard class nearly impossible. She is very unorganized and often gets corrected by students. Points will be taken off for incorrect grammar, or incorrect spelling, but her work often has errors. Very difficult professor to reason with.
Lectures are disorganized and hard to follow, with nonstop rambling that makes it difficult to stay engaged. Labs are even worse over an hour of repetitive “introductions” that leave little time for actual work. Mistakes in lecture are frequent, and students often have to correct them. Be ready to rely on outside resources. AVOID OR BE READY
She's a disorganized professor. Seems like a decent human but man she words her quizzes as she scrambled them through 10 different languages. They are worded like trick questions. she makes them to help study but really they are just an annoying puzzle for some tiny amounts of extra credit
If you can, avoid this professor. Their lectures are all over the place, and asking a question just gets you a dismissive answer or makes you feel dumb for not already knowing. The grading is unpredictable, and the tests don't match what's taught. You'll end up teaching yourself, so you're better off with a different instructor.
God awful professor. She is all over the place and often has errors in her work. Tests and exams are based on very little information from lectures. In a 3 hour lab she talks for 2, giving "instruction" which is a ramble about irrelevant information.
Hubbard is one of the worst professors here at UWSP. She will fail entire classes and not take accountability for her mistakes and will put the blame on her students. She is an embarrassment to the program and to her profession. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES!!!
She should be fired or put under review from the biology department. Failed the entire section and couldn't take responsibility for being disorganized. she is too focused on making sure her students aren't using AI or sharing the attendance link that she can't write her quiz questions in a error free manner. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
She is not very accountable, we just have an exam that about half of te lecture failed. She was very concerned that the class was not doing enough work, however she will not answer questions that are asked in class or during office hours. I fully believe that she thinks her class is the only one.
Hubbard is genuinely the worst teacher i've had in my life period. unorganized, rude, not very understanding of anything. she's been corrected multiple times by STUDENTS in lectures and labs. don't take ANY class she teaches.
This professor does not take accountability for her actions. The last exam we had, over half of the class failed. Then she proceeded to blame the students and not take into consideration that it could be her teaching or her exams. She grades everyday on attendance along with pop quizzes from lecture at least twice a week.
Dr.Hubbard is a god awful professor. Her statements in class are irrelevant to the topics that should be discussed, and she often talks about things she's interested in, instead of the material you're paying for. Don't even try to use the book for help. The book contradicts EVERYTHING she has taught.
Worst professor at UWSP. In a 50-minute lecture, she talks on 2 slides (daily). Don't plan on using the book for help! It contradicts everything she has taught. During a 3-hour lab period, she talks for at least 1.5 hours on the lab manual (which we can read in about 5 minutes) or about irrelevant information, leaving little time for the lab.
To the people who say "she's an amazing professor,"... You're lying straight to everyone's face. She told me that my work was "disorganized and unclear," but it was her work I copied and pasted. What a joke. They must hand out degrees in grad school like coke on the street.
genuinely the worst professor i've ever had. she takes five minutes to give out a single piece of information, often just saying the same sentence in different words without actual explaining. if you are like me and struggle with your mental health you MUST go to disability before even thinking about talking to her, she doesn't care otherwise
Talks way too much on material that was covered or continues on with a subject that was already spoken on.
Dr. Hubbard is by far one of the worst professors I've ever had. She never took accountability for nearly the whole class failing one of her exams, when it was clearly due to her lack of structure and organization. She talks the whole lab period and never gives you enough time to complete the lab AND collect data for the final project. DO NOT TAKE
By far the worst professor I have had. Takes over 10 min to start the class, then will "review" the content from the previous lecture for half an hour leaving only 10 min to new content. She constantly has to go back and correct herself for stating something incorrect and expects us to learn nearly everything outside of class. AVOID IF POSSIBLE.
Her lectures are incoherent, filled with meaningless tangents and corrections. She expects you to read a lot of material outside of class because she can't manage to cover it herself. She has spent 2 HOURS giving lab instructions. Luckily, she allows a full cheat sheet for exams, and posts good study material. Attendance quizzes daily.
Avoid if possible. She is all around a terrible professor who struggles to make a coherent lecture.
So terrible! 3 hour labs due to her inability to talk in a straight line. She grades insanely hard because she thinks she's a genius and that we are all plebs. She will also give out inaccurate information and only sometimes correct herself over email afterward. Exams are 60 questions of 'select all that apply' with at least 6 options. Nice person.
She struggles to put together a coherent lecture. She uses "select all that apply" questions on every quiz and exam; exams are like riddles from her. You can know the material and still fail. She spends ten minutes going over an agenda every day, reviews for 30 minutes, then rushes 11 minutes of new material because she goes overtime every day.
Good lord taking an exam or answering quiz questions is like deciphering hieroglyphics. You aren't good at "select all that apply" questions? Goodluck. A peer stated there wasn't enough information in lab reading to answer pre-lab. Her solution? give us quizzes at the beginning of lab, which solved nothing, WE STILL DON'T HAVE ENOUGH INFORMATION!
I have had dozens of professors over the years and Jamee is by far, without a doubt, the worst professor I have ever had as a student. Unless you come into her classes with extensive prior knowledge, you will do poorly. She has prided herself on her exams being overly difficult and blames students for failing. Avoid. at. all .costs.
Actively made her tests harder to get people to fail
She just suck, lectures about nothing and everything at the same time, mostly speaking in circles, and it was just a waste of time. Your attendance matters, but she won't take attendance until 10 minutes into class, and she constantly nags about "get off your phone." I fear that us a basic concept that doesn't and shouldn't need to be taught.
i honestly liked her. if you put in the work and engage in the material, study and study some more (literally 80% of college anyways) then you'll do fine. very nice woman and did her best to help students out. i appreciate that she allowed some notes on her exams. i liked her lab sections too! you just have to put in the effort and you'll succeed.
While the class isn't too difficult in content, Hubbard's testing is utterly useless as the vast majority of questions are on specific examples rather than the core concepts behind them. She also likes to test random facts about her husband so good luck studying her relationship. Useless class.
Did not like her at first but she grew on me over time. Tests are difficult but if you go to class, you'll be fine, especially since you get a cheat sheet. Also made it so that if you have a 90 or better in the class you don't have to take the final. Was also willing to curve a test everyone did bad on. Talks too much in lab but she's over hated.
The vast majority of the class is her "reviewing" the previous lecture leaving only 10-20 minutes of new content to which she struggles to convey. Early in the semester she struggled to even define the word cell and had to be corrected by students. Had to have professors sit in due to how many complaints she got. What a joke
Exams are super hard. Don't have to take the final if you have an A- or above
YIPEEShe definitely grew on me; she also clearly saw the feedback she was receiving and course corrected. Hopefully she continues on this route in the future, albeit towards the end I, personally, felt like a slob for getting basically a free pass in the class due to her guilt. She'll hopefully find a healthy medium between difficulty and education
She seems to be reading these; class has improved throughout the semester. Still difficult, but more manageable, lecture guides are definitely a plus.
It took her the entire term to grade anything past the first week which was a little intimidating. I felt as though she was quite disorganized and seemed to have a "students are always wrong" mindset. Most lectures felt pretty meaningless and a lot of reading off of the slides. However, was generous with due dates and point assignments.
