it's like youre learning about personality and listening to a standup comedy at the same time. he's very easy. 2 exams and a paper to turn in (5 papers, 1 randomly selected for credit) and a final. no books at all.

He's FUNNY and AWESOME! You dont need the text book for anything...and he lectures off of his notes, he writes everything on the overhead and that's all that's on the test. The Essay are easy...it was SOOO FUN!

This is a great teacher if you like to write and learn about personality. The tests are not too challenging. Meeting with Dr. Amirkhan for office hours was never a problem because he was always there. He has a good sense of humor and keeps the subject totally interesting.

I love this class! This guy is great! He makes the lectures very interesting (funny) and yet you still learn. It's a very easy class (midterm, final, and a couple of easy essays to write). He doesn't even collect all the essays--only 2 for the semster. I would take him for all my classes if I could.

He is about as nutty a professor as you can imagine. He is brilliant and knows so much about his work and hes hilarious. Only problem is that sometimes he is a bit unclear on how he wants your papers written...8 papers, 2 collected randomly (yes 6 dont get graded)test are from lecture, no txt book final is cumulative and alot of info.

Dr. Amirkhan is a great professor. He is humorous and explains the material in an understandable manner. There was a midterm and a final. Not much studying is required if you understand the material from the lectures.

Very interesting class, I learned a lot about people. Don't go in thinking you will get an A. I had a psych major who took his class say my paper was an A, he gave me a C...I don't agree with how he graded papers. It's fairly easy to get a B though. Don't buy the book you wont need it. Show up to class, he makes it entertaining. Great professor.

He's well versed and a good lecturer, although I wasn't impressed with the personality theories taught. He gives easy tests, but a very hard grader on the paper, even if you match all the requirements and discuss elaborately, it's hard to get an A. I'm still bitter about how those papers are graded. I wouldn't recommend this class.

I don't know why people find his papers so difficult when Dr. A explains in detail exactly what he wants for every single paragraph. His papers are so easy as long as you pay good attention and write down all his notes. His tests are very easy. I don't know what drugs he uses before he grades the papers, but I would like some of those! I meticulously took notes on how to do the papers and he still gave me a bad grade. I think he does it just to limit the number of people that get A's because almost all the other grades are B's. If you get a C in this class you might to steer clear of Psy.

Great lecturer! Mult choice tests are easy but still confused about how the papers are graded. Wrote down everything he said and still got bad grades on papers (I usually get As) and a large portion of overall grade is based on papers. Doesnt take attendance but directions for papers are given in class and test Qs are drawn directly from lecture.

I found Dr. A's lecture and the course to be completely helpful and useful. His lectures are very simple and clear. If there were any confusion with the materials presented, simply raise your hand and ask him, OR go to his office hours and he will be available to assist you with anything. He's an awesome professor and very easy to get along with.

This class is definitely worth taking and yes he is a funny guy which makes the class a little bit more enjoyable! The exams are from the lecture notes. NO BOOK required (save yourself the money).

Amazing Prof, the only class out of six this semester that I learned something that I could discuss but maybe not use{and this is abt my views on PSYCH, not on the prof}. Great teacher who really gives a damn abt the students. The only wish is that he would let us be more creative with the papers, I felt I was in prison writing my papers.

i have taken personality, assessment, and psy 499 and i can honestly say that i thoroughly enjoyed every class that i have had with him. for 499 specifically: it's an incredibly easy and undemanding course. i would highly recommend this course if you are interested in helping out with research.

I've taken 8 PSY classes so far, and he is the best prof I've ever taken. He's very knowledgable, amusing, and there was never a time where I was bored. Very fair grader. 2(ish) papers, 2 midterms and 1 final. Total of 150 point for the class. He doesn't belittle you when you ask questions, and he's good with email too. If you need to take personality, you HAVE to take him.

The best professor i have taken in all 3 years at CSULB, he's rated top 20 for a reason, you must attend class no book needed, he's clear and interesting and funny as hell. Reccommend him for any class, but i took him for personality, i just atteneded class took notes never studied and passed. He's AMAZING!

Attendance is absolutely mandatory. No book. One of the funniest profs I've ever had and very helpful. Interesting material but kind of a lot to remember. Exams aren't that hard. Eight 1.5 page assignments. You can send them to him for comments/critiques before they are due. Class was interesting and not that difficult. I would recommend him for personality psych.

By far the most quick-witted, clear and concise professor who will have the class laughing at every remark regarding the human psyche. He does not require a textbook and attendance because his own material is sufficient and will keep students showing up in class.

I took the Honors course. EASY A! He's AMAZING! It's no mistake that he is rated as 1 of the BEST profs in the NATION! He lectures from an overhead & is very effective in teaching content. Lots of Work in this 3 week course and a little overwelming! Some days I was up all night! Very TIME CONSUMING work! Midterm/Final based on lecture notes only. STUDY HARD! Hard class but definitely able to get a C, B, or A or if you try and put in the hours. Nice teacher though! Would not take Assessment with anyone else but him!

Great class, but overwelming work load. Assignments though are long but as long as instructions are followed then they are easy to get an "A or B" on. Tests are difficult and are from lecture notes. He is the easiest Assessment teacher and I recommend taking his class over Statistics anyday.

Dr. Amirkhan is one of my favourite teachers at CSULB. He's incredibly up to date and funny. He uses an overhead projector for lectures, and no textbook! his class was extremely interesting and he really helped me to learn and understand personality theories.

Show up, pay attention, take notes. You will do fine! He is very funny and wants his students to learn. I would love if all professors taught like he does! Brilliant man. You have to write short papers relating to personality types, he collects 1 out of 5 when you have a test. Tests are multiple choice and based off of his notes.

Dr. A is hands down one of the best professors that CSULB has. It is a true shame if you are a psych major or minor and do not take him! WRITE THE PAPERS ON TIME- AND ATTEND CLASS. There are 3 exams. 2 midterms and 1 final- MAKE SURE YOU STUDY HARD FOR THE FINAL- but completely do-able! He is very funny, organized and helpful!

Amirkhan is a great professor. no use for textbook. class not mandatory, but honestly why wouldn't you show up he makes lectures easy fun and entertaining. instructions for papers are clear. He's funny and overall excellent as a professor. I definitely recommend him you will NOT regret it.

Not only was the material interesting, Dr. Amirkhan is extremely entertaining. He was able to be funny and at the same time teach the material clearly. No textbook required. Attend lectures and take notes. You won't want to miss a lecture anyway since class is a good time.

Best class i've taken in a while. The assignments are very interesting and take all the information from lectures and helps memorize them. The exams are really fair. Best part? The lectures. He's very funny, smart, and interesting. Never had a class laugh as much as i did in this class. Also NO TEXTBOOK!

BEST PROFESSOR EVER! Just take him, don't even think about it. You'll love him, I promise. There are 5 papers due before Midterm 1 and 4 before Midterm 2. Final is generally easier than midterms. THERE IS NO BOOK for this class, it's completely lecture based, so just attend lectures. He's hilarious and will make them interesting. You'll love him.

I LOVE DR. AMIRKHAN! he is seriously the best professor in the psychology department. Exams are fair, just study and you'll be fine. His lectures though, oh man his lectures! they are the best. Very knowledgeable and passionate about personality psychology. I enjoyed him, I RECOMMEND! take him!!!

Hilarious professor. Tough class but he definitely makes the work enjoyable. I ended up getting a 100% in his class and actually applied what I learned! The grade consists entirely of 3 exams which is nice because that means less work. Would definitely take him again!

I was lucky enough to take this class through the Honors program so our class was only about 20 people. I totally recommend taking this course through Honors because it's not much harder and the class is smaller. The lectures are the best because he explains the concepts thoroughly and his humor adds to how enjoyable the class is!!!

Lecture is not mandatory, but since there's no book or powerpoint slides, its necessary to pass the class. Uses projector. He gives great examples and is just hilarious. Assigns application papers per section and randomly selects one to grade. The midterms consist of 50% exam and 50% paper graded. 3 exams. By far my favorite prof ever!! Loved him!!

Prob best professor I've had here. His tests are really easy, no book required. He lectures off an overhead projector so you need to come to class, but he is really funny so his lectures are great. He is very knowledgeable and you can tell he loves what he does. There is a reason he is so highly rated. He is amazing, you WILL NOT regret taking him.

Awesome class, awesome professor. You wont regret taking his class. Lectures are fun and interesting. His jokes are hilarious. Not many assignments or exams (3) but you need to attend class for all course content (no book, or online lecture notes). Not many assignments so be sure to do the ones there are or you will quickly drop your grade.

One of my favorite profs. He's a very authentic person and knowledgeable on the subject making his lectures not only interesting, but easy to absorb the info. Also, he's very humorous, so his lectures are def worth it. Doesn't require a textbook, so just show up to the lectures, take notes and thats what you'll be tested on. Take his class.

He is by far the BEST professor i have ever had. He writes on a projector so there's no power points so you have to attend class. But he's so funny and his lectures are so interesting that you'll want to go. It's all memorization and easy short papers on a weekly basis. Just make sure to turn in your papers promptly.

No textbook so everything you learn in class is what you are graded on. Very straight forward, he writes out the notes with you so that he knows he is going at the same pace you would be. Hilarious and makes everyone interested in the subject matter because he makes it relatable.

There's no textbook; he lectures using an overhead projector so there isn't an overload of information to write down each class. All information from notes is what's on each midterm/final. There's 9 papers, 2 midterms, and the final. I'd suggest going to the lecture instead of copying notes from someone else, it's just easier. He's amazing, easy A.

Dr. Amirkhan makes the course material truly interesting and fun. The class itself however, is not a walk in the park. 9 essays are written, but only 2 are selected -- 1 before each exam. During exams, the professor and the TAs watch you like a hawk and the exams have a significant amount of weight. All in all the material is very eye opening.

Please do yourself a favor and take his class! His lectures are funny and interesting. He uses the overhead & writes the notes along with you. Yes there are essays but they are easy because he gives detail guidelines of what to write. The exams were straight forward if you do a quick study of your notes & you should be solid! You don't need to read at all for this class. Everything he tests on can be found in his lecture. His paper instructions and tests are straightforward. That being said, you need to attend class to get an A. Lectures can be intriguing and entertaining. He writes notes along with students, but very minimally, so make sure you take your own. Easy A!

This is not a class you can ditch. All lecture-based. Grade is 3 exams and 2 essays, which made it challenging for many students to get an A. But Amirkhan really knows his stuff and is passionate about psychology. Worth taking!

I took Dr. Amirkhan in 2001. I am in higher education myself now and he to this day the best and most memorable college professor I have ever had at CSULB. I still have the notes from his class somewhere in my house. He was interesting and hilarious. Make sure you attend his class.

This class was really interesting and I loved it, Dr. A also is an amazing professor. The class has papers to write about but they're pretty easy one pagers turned in before exams. Definitely show up to class, all his lectures are handwritten. Also I suggest you go to office hours for the papers cause they can be tricky at first if you're lost.

One of the best classes I've taken. He doesn't post lectures on beach board so make sure you show up to class. There are 9 papers total but all about 1 page long and very easy. 2 midterms and a final exam, should study for them but overall pretty easy. He talks all throughout lecture but he makes it very fun.

Work load wasn't too bad. I had a busy schedule and he was nice enough to round up my 79% to a B. I learned a lot in this class and tests were manageable. Make sure you follow the directions carefully for the 9 papers you have to write. He randomly selects 2 to be graded and I did one wrong that really hurt my grade.

Always cracks jokes to make lectures more fun! 2 midterms, 1 final (not too hard) No textbook required, exams are only based on lectures. 10 papers due at the end of the semester (1 1/2 pages each) but gives suggested 1 week deadlines as to not have them pile up.

Dr. A is one of my favorite professors I've ever had. Taking him during COVID-19 has been rough, especially because he's lecture heavy and we don't use a textbook. However, he has been consistent in his teaching and accommodating. 2 midterms and a final. A short paper each week (one chosen at random for 1/2 midterm grade). I would highly recommend.

He doesnt use slides but his teaching style & the way he explains things makes sense. Theres a lot of papers but they are easy! Follow the outlines he posts for them & youll pass. LOVED this class!

such a good prof and course! it's an upper level class yet still he does his best to make all the theories and concepts understandable. a total of 9 papers which sounds like a lot but he gives you exact guidelines and they help you understand the theories perfectly. you choose one subject to study all semester - GREAT class!

Amazing professor!! Honors course: 2 midterms and a final are 50 MCQ each. Lectures are already recorded/posted. No textbook, everything in lecture. Zoom is a review of lecture and only meets once a week. Instead of 1 big paper, he assigns 10 small 1 1/2 page, double-spaced, 5 paragraphs papers throughout the semester.

Dr. Amirkhan is absolutely amazing, SO KIND. I can't imagine anyone would take his class and not like him. He's so reasonable in his requirements. There are two midterms ( 1/2 MC questions and 1/2 paper on your subject that you already wrote) Final was 50 questions, just do the work, you will pass. Interesting class, you will LOVE it. Recommend him

Hes very kind and lenient for the most part. The work is kind of overwhelming because you have to write a paper a week based on lectures in order to get extra credit on exams and as an assignment as well but theyre very easy and just have to be a page and a half. Hes worth taking!! The content isnt hard either.

I loved Professor Amirkhan! He was super kind and funny and his lectures were so interesting and organized! There are small papers every week or so but they have very clear grading instructions and the TAs were super helpful if you emailed them to ask for help. In general, the class is very easy and I would highly recommend it!

Took it online for FA22, and the class is the best. Learned so much about Personality Psychology, and it was fun! The lectures were posted online, and professor is engaging. There's several short papers to write, but the structure is clearly laid out in instructions. The exams were straightforward, material from lectures. Highly recommended.

Absolutely enjoyed taking Dr. Amirkhan this semester. All his lectures and zoom classes were interesting, and he knew how to make it fun by applying it to our own lives. There's 9 papers due, however, he clearly outlines each paragraph and it's a hands on experience so it was enjoyable!

Dr. A is a literal human gem. He is the sweetest and funniest prof. He is retiring soon so if anybody has the chance to take his class you will not regret it. The class ended up writing him Thank you notes and surprising him on zoom on the last day! It was a beautiful moment to be able to appreciate him. His class was easy and fun.

This professor is incredibly gifted at delivering the material to his students. He is selfless about giving knowledge he acquired throughout his life. If a student does bad in this class, then he is just an incompetent or lazy human being. The only bad thing about this professor is that he is retiring, so take the class before that if you can.

Dr. Amirkhan is an amazing professor! He had 2 pre recorded video lectures a week and non mandatory class meetings (but they were very helpful!). You'll have to write papers for each theorist, but he is very clear about what he expects for his papers and midterms. His lectures are hilarious and he cares about his students. Wrote a total of 9 papers (1 and 1/2 page only), but only two were graded. Class really isn't hard if you just do what you're supposed to do. Attendance was not mandatory since he would just upload the videos online. Those complaining about the class probably were just lazy and did the papers last minute and did not study for the exams.

Had a very odd structure: he assigned papers every week and chose one at random that would account for half of our exam grade, had both in-person lectures and recorded lectures, and wrote out his lectures. Luckily, he posts specific guidelines for the papers to ensure good grades. Papers are easier if you choose yourself as the subject, trust me.

Professor Amirkhan is a chill professor and this class does not have mandatory lectures, they are all posted online. You just have to write 5 papers prior to each midterm, but only one is graded. There are 2 exams so there is not really much grading. Exams are based on the lectures and it's straightforward.

Honestly, the prof is an amazing teacher. The lectures that he provides are pretty clear and on point, both with his online and in-person lectures. He gives examples of what he is talking about and even adds some of his personal experiences to make the concepts more clear. The papers can be rough, but they really do help with concepts.

I recently went through a passing of an important family member and him the TA's were so sweet. So thankful I had the opportunity to be in his class, he was amazing. He can enjoy retirement!
