I was somewhat suprised and definitely pleased to find this class pretty interesting. Dr. Bonczek presented everything in an easy-to-understand manner, and tests covered exactly what we learned in class.
This class was easy, and Dr. B was great. Really cares about the students learning and will pause in lecture to make sure everyone understands. Tests were straight from study guide and very fair. Presented lots of examples from out in the field. Excellent!
he was an awesome teacher..so helpful and he made the final optional. you don't need the textbook at all. definitely take this class.
Dr B. is such a great guy, he is very understanding and truley wants you to enjoy the material and do well in his class. His exams/quizzes/lab reports are very fair and is willing to go out of his way to help you write your lab report. I just took his class for a Gen. Ed physical science lab, (I'm a religion major), and I would def. do it again.
Definitely take this class if you need a physical science! He tells you that you do not need the book, practically gives you the tests, and he posts all notes. The only thing is that he really wants you to be there so he randomly gives attendance quizzes. All of his assignments are super easy and he is a really nice guy!
Extremely helpful, kind, and understanding professor. Really tries to make the material interesting and help students excel in class. Relatively easy class, but lots of engaging material. Excellent Powerpoint notes (all posted online, too). Attendance mandatory, but you'll want to go. One of the best professors I've had (and this was just Gen Ed!)
World of Watercraft is the best! Do not buy the textbook. I always use my textbook, but NOT in this class. Prof Bonczek is great - well-spoken and humorous - and OBSCENELY EASY. Interesting material with a lot of local Florida stuff. He actually seemed a little bothered that I asked for help in office hours.
Not as easy of a class as you'd think. Bonczek is a really wonderful guy though. Very considerate and concerned about how students are doing. You can't find a nicer professor on campus. Attendance is mandatory. The material can get a little boring. Know slightly more than what the study guides say and you should do fine.
Definitely not as easy as it is made out to be here. The professor is really nice, but the material can get boring. He gives a study guide before the test, but the test is much more detailed and much harder than the study guide. Attendance is mandatory.
THIS CLASS IS NOT EASY. I get As in almost every class I take. I am not going to get an A in this class. The professor is nice, but his tests are ridiculous. he gives a study guide, but it only covers maybe 50% of the test. Terrible class.
This class was a piece of cake! Attend class, memorize every word of the study guide the night before, and you will get 100s on everyone of the tests. Trust me!!!
James Cameron, as a lot of us like to call him, was an okay teacher. Class is easy, but dont let it take advantage of you. Memorize BOTH NOTES AND SLIDES. He likes to be detailed in a lot of his stuff, so memorizing what I told you, you should be fine. AttendaNce is mandatory due to the lecture questions he gives out every class. Easy A, just work.
This class was so easy and enjoyable. Attendance is mandatory but I missed at least five classes and am still getting an A. There are three homeworks that are all really easy. Teacher is really nice and makes it interesting. Tests were easy, def. recommend this as an easy gen ed.
He is extremely nice and helpful- he explains things really well. I loved this class and it was very applicable to everyday life. I highly recommend this class for a science credit or just for fun!
I've never had a teacher who explained things better. The classes are going to be about water or soil... so they're not the most interesting, but he's fun and the class is easy. I recommend this for your gen ed.
World of Water was a great class. Easy A!
I enjoyed his lab, we got to do hands on and he provided everything we needed so as not to make it an undue burden on us as students. I appreciated him.
Honestly, one of the best science classes that I have taken at UF. Great (P) gen ed credit for non science majors. I learned so much in this class and it has to do with more that soil and water (which sounds boring). Based on five exams, occasional homework, and gives extra credit quizes (on the notes for the day). Easy A!
A great professor, he really knows his material. The class is an easy A. He gives attendance quizzes, they're easy and he drops the lowest exam grade. Memorize the exam review and you'll pass the exam.
Mr. Bonczek is a GREAT professor! He makes this class interesting. I got a B+, but that is because I missed 2 homeworks and missed quite a few classes. If you attend most of the classes, do all of your homeworks, and study the reviews, you easily can get an A. I highly recommend this class!
pretty good professor
Class is easy and straight to the point. Barely any homework assignments. You have lecture questions each class (attendance-you can miss 4), but they are really easy and he will give answers. Extra credit is offered. Material can be boring, but he gives study guides that are exactly like the tests. Study those for an hour before and you'll be fine
He is a terrific professor. Knows so much about his subject that it is astonishing. There is always a powerpoint but he explains what he is talking about very clearly. Class is mandatory and lots of extra credit is offered throughout the semester.
To this class as an online class over the summer. It was a bit more challenging than I thought for a gen ed class. For summer distance learning students, do study guide, listen to lectures and don't underestimate this class becuase its an online gen ed class.
I highly recommend this class. There's no textbook and no need to study outside of class, minus right before each exam. Attendance in mandatory (you can miss 4 classes). Extra credit given out each class. He's a great professor. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Easy A.
He explains the material really well, especially for non-science majors. He is obviously very passionate about it but clear in his presentation. Attendance is mandatory, so go and pay attention to get the daily "lecture questions" and the extra credit. Exams are not too bad, mainly because of the review the class before the exam. No surprises.
Go to class for the lecture questions and bonus questions. They will make or break you at the end of the semester!!! Also, the exam questions are mostly fair with some tricky ones to see if you really studied. Very best teacher; fun and loves the subject which makes the class much more exciting.
Go to class. The tests are easy if you pay attention in class and study the review sheet. Just because he goes over slides quickly doesn't mean the material isn't important (you'll see it in t/f form on the test). Great teacher. Learned a lot and was an interesting topic that has meaning outside school!!! Best teacher at UF?!! Could be.
Hands down, the BEST professor at UF! He makes the material surprisingly interesting, and makes it so easy to get an A.
Go to class. Take the extra credit. Get an A. It really is that simple. It's a fun class, and it is an easy general education credit. Take him!!!
Easy class! Show up, study the study guide. Bring laptop!
AWESOME PROFESSOR! He def. makes sure you that you understand the material and that you are prepared for the exams. He is so nice and definitely made the class so interesting!! TAKE HIM!!
One of the best classes I've take at UF. Surprisingly interesting subject and he makes sure to include lots of points that are relevant. Would recommend this class to anyone. Go to class, listen, do the study guide, and get an A in the class. It really is that simple in his class.
SUPER easy and interesting class. Dr. Bonczek is VERY good at explaining material in laymen's terms. Only a few homeworks and quizzes and 4 super easy tests (gives you study guide that tells you all info you will need for the test). Easy A, take it when you have a tough semester!
Dr. Bonczek does a great job making such a seemingly insipid subject actually quite interesting and very accessible to students. Simply GO to class, review your notes maybe an hour or two a week, and always do the (very) straightforward study guides and you'll surely get an A. The 4 homework assignments and 3 quizzes are easy. Great class.
I am terrible at science and very much not interested, and this class was fantastic. Dr. Bonczek makes it incredibly interesting, and incredibly easy to get an A. Go to class, do what he says, and you'll get the A. I highly recommend this class to anyone for whom science is not their thing.
I have absolutely no regrets taking this class. I never thought learning about water could be SO interesting, but Bonczek definitely makes it that way. He is extremely nice and patient, and he is readily available to anyone who needs help. This is the most painless way to knock out a physical science gen-ed credit. Seriously take this class! (:
Very easy class. Dr. Bonczek post the powerpoints after every class. There are 3 easy homework assignments and 1 10 question multiple choice quiz which you can take until you make an 100. There are 4 exam and he drops the lowest test grade. Most people do so well on the first 3 exam and as a result they don't have to take the last exam
Simply one of the easiest classes ever. I just needed a science course and this class was a great filler for the summer semester. Just dont get lazy and wait to study the day of. Its not fun to listen to multiple lectures per day. Spread the lectures out, study, fill out the review sheet and you should be fine come test day.
Awesome professor. He knows his stuff and teaches it well so that it's easy to understand- even if science isn't your thing. He makes dirt an interesting subject to learn!
Simply interesting and easy to validate.
This guy is awesome. Plan and simple. He knows that kids take his class for bs and he just wants you to gain some respect about the environment along the way. This class is how all Gen-Eds should be.
The class was pretty easy. He takes attendance through the form of daily questions during lectures and provides bonus point questions nearly every class. There were online assignments and quizzes sporadically throughout the class but there was always ample time to complete them and you could take each quiz up to five times. Easy science credit!
Great class, super easy. He made me want to learn more about the environment. Also, kind of a silver fox
Prof Bonczek is the man. Absolutely great professor. Yes the class is easy, but it's actually interesting. He makes the class easy so a lot of different kids from around UF take a class in his department, so give him respect and listen to his topic. You have to go to class to pass because its very attendance heavy, but go with an open mind.
This class is great for an easy science credit. You have to go to most classes but he gives some days off. He explains everything very well and gives a detailed study guide before each exam.
This is an easy science class to take even if you are not interested in soil at all. You have lecture questions every day but also extra credit nearly every day. There were three exams and he provides a study guide for each, as well as a review before each exam. Definitely would recommend for an easy science credit! Also, no text book!!
Soil lab was a pretty easy lab credit. You have to buy the lab manual which was only like $15. There were lab reports after almost every lab, but they were fairly simple. There were also quizzes about the previous lab which were simple as long as you review the previous lab beforehand. Then there were two exams that were no too difficult.
This guy is the dude. Hands down the best science course I've had in college thus far, and nudges me toward switching to a soils major (or at least resource management).
Not the easiest lab, but it goes hand in hand with the lecture. Great guy. Labs are interesting and you do learn. 2 exams and one includes a lab practical. There are also daily quizzes, but they are not difficult.
He had me hooked on the 1st day! He is passionate about what he is teaching and wants us to actually leave the class with an understanding of soil. He gives study guides for exams, so the exams are decent. Great man and would take him again. No phones! Please respect him.
James is a silver fox! He is a great guy and professor. Easy A but put in the effort!!
Great professor. I never thought someone could make a soil class so interesting. Show up to class and take good notes (as in just copy his power point) and you will definitely do well. If you have any reason to take this class or just need a science credit I highly recommend.
Professor Bonczek was extremely helpful. The chemistry homework wasn't completely clear to me and he tutored me one-on-one over the phone until I understood. He also frequently arranged online help sessions. He challenges students in a positive and constructive way. Do the readings and take notes. If you try, you can pass. Great course.
the man
Easy A. Great professor who knows what he's talking about and is passionate about it. Show up to lecture and you'll be fine.
easy and little homework, easy and little quizzes. he gives you a study guide before the exams and everything is on it. easy A
Gives a lot of lecture questions to ensure attendance, but they're easy. Also provides an exam review and study guide that makes exams really easy. Very helpful and caring professor.
Really caring professor who knows his stuff. Very clear class. Would recommend to anyone
I thought it would be an easy A. Unfortunately, it wasn't. This class is really BORING. I just couldn't understand the material at all. Some people were able to get all 100's on the tests. Not me. There is a lot of information on the test. Not only that, but he likes to give "trick questions. Thanks to extra credit/quizzes/HW I made a B
Super easy. He's also SUPER nice. I took this as an elective and I thought soil, really? God help me. I actually liked it. I still have no interest in soil but the class was fun. EASY A. Literally go to class. Review the study guide the day before the exam (or earlier) and you'll do fine. Last exam I only had 1 hour to study for and it went great!
I never knew soil could be so interesting! Turned out to be my favorite class of the semester. He gives lecture questions every class, so go to class for free points. Online quizzes are easy, and help you synthesize the content. All of the PPTs are online. Bonczek likes to make jokes in class, and thinks he's hilarious, but he's very cool. Loved it
During each class he gives you a set of questions to answer during the lecture. But, he drops your lowest 7 scores, which means you can miss 7 classes without it affecting your grade. There are 5 online quizzes and assignments, he drops your lowest score for each. Plus, they're easy. 3 exams, but just use the study guide and you should be fine!
This class is SO easy and so interesting. You can take the 5 quizzes 5 times so you definitely get 100's on all of them. There are also 5 homework assignments that take less than 20 minutes each and are ridiculously easy. The lectures are fun and I actually learned more than I have in any other class. Favorite class this semester by far.
Be prepared for Dr. Bonczek to lecture every class. However, he is engaging and tries to make the material as accessible as possible. It is not a hard class, and as long as you complete the study guides, you will ace the exams.
This is the easiest class I have ever taken, but Professor Bonczek made the material more interesting than a lesser professor would have. Although I found the material to be boring at its core, I enjoyed listening to the lectures. The tests are a breeze with the study guides, as are the quizzes and few homework assignments. He's a nice guy!
He is a good professor and the study guides he gives, tell you exactly what's coming on the exams. Quizzes and homeworks are easy and have lots of attempts. This was an interesting course about soils.
This was a fairly easy class to take for a gen-ed physical science, I would recommend. I do not have much to say since this was only a gen-ed for me, but as long as you score well on exams you will receive a good grade.
Very easy to do well. I did not study enough for exams. If you do the bare minimum you can get at worst an A-. Very knowledgable and helpful, literally gives away answers.
Good professor. He teaches well, tests on what he teaches. No complaints.
Great professor, straightforward subject matter, fair quizzes and tests. Interesting assignments. Great course to satisfy the e Physical Science GenED requirement.
This professor is a great guy and pretty entertaining. The class material can be a little boring at times but the tests cover exactly what the lectures are about. He also allows you to have 7 absences without affecting your grade and drops your lowest quiz score. 10/10 would recommend this class for your state gen ed science.
This professor is really fantastic. He elaborates and relates topics. The lecture is directly related to quizzes and exams.
Learned a lot from this class. It is not everyone's cup of tea, but the notes are easy to follow and he gives you a study guide for the exams, so don't be discouraged if you are looking for a gen ed course. Not difficult if you dedicate a bit of time.
Gonna be honest, I could care less about soils. I thought this class was relatively easier in the second half because it was a review of fundamental acid/base chem and I'm in orgo2 right now. If you've taken chems, it's a piece of cake. There are already Quizlet cards based on all his study guides. That's all you need. Showing up was annoying.
Professor Bonczek cares about his subject and it shows in his lecture. The class covers everything from evolution to chemistry and none of it is difficult to understand. He lectures in a narrative like style that allows you to just sit back and listen. Exams aren't hard and he provides drops in homework and quizzes.
I loved him! He is a funky guy, and wears the almost exact thing to class every day, but he makes a (pretty boring) class super interesting! As long as you do the homeworks, quizzes, and study guides for the tests, you'll be fine. He lets you skip like 7 times without penalty. I really enjoyed this class, and would for sure recommend it for gen ed.
I loved this class. It was very easy and Bonczek was very straightforward as to what was required of us. The study guides go over everything on the test and nothing is a surprise. He takes attendance by little question sheets we fill out but you can miss 7 before there's a penalty. A pretty cool guy and an interesting class.
Dr. Bonczek is a great professor who cares about the students and the material, as well. The class can be boring at times, but the underlying theme is very interesting. Attendance is mandatory because he gives lecture questions, but 5-7 are dropped at the end of the semester. The study guide IS THE EXAM! Incredibly easy class to take to de-stress.
Loved taking his class. Takes a lot to make water seem interesting and he definetly succeeded. Class was easy as long as u study the study guide and go to class.
Great and easy physical science class. He is hilarious and a good professor and the subject is pretty interesting if you give it the chance. very easy cannot stress that enough.
Professor Bonczek is super funny and tries to make the lectures enjoyable even though a lot of the material can seem repetitive. Super easy physical science credit, the study guides follow the lectures and powerpoint directly and if you pay attention you'll get a good grade.
Dr. Bonczek was great. His lectures were clear and easy to understand. Somehow he made dirt interesting? Takes attendance every class using lecture quizzes, but they are super easy to fill out. Exams follow the study guides, (and he has a day to answer questions about it), so if you fill them out, you can do well on the exams. Great class overall.
I've had Professor Bonczek twice now and he is just the best. His class is designed to have you learn at minimum challenge. The material is fascinating and the expectations are clear. The man makes dirt interesting. Can I say any more?
Nice guy, boring class, very boring. Lecture and bonus questions every class, so you can't skip, but you get 5 drops. 5 simple quizzes. 3 exams - study the study guide and you'll do well. HW assignments were really easy. Overall easy class, nice professor, but just boring so don't expect too much excitement. He also goes over time a lot in lecture.
3 exams - study the study guide and you'll pass. 5 simple quizzes, just take notes. HW assignments were easy and done in 20 minutes. Lecture and bonus questions every class, so can't skip, but you get 5 drops. Nice enough guy. Goes over time a lot in lecture even though he said he lets us out early - he doesn't! TA's aren't really helpful.
Professor Bonczek cares about his topics and understands that anyone taking World of Water is just taking it for the science credit. Its pretty interesting even if you do not enjoy science and Bonczek gives pretty easy exams. There is also very little homework.
Fairly easy class especially if you already grasp basic acid/base chemistry. Show up, take the online quizzes, study the slides once, and you will get an A.
Bonczek is a really nice guy, class is just really boring if you're not interested in the topic. He understands most people are only there for the physical science credit. Easy A if you do the quizzes and easy assignments. 3 exams that are exactly like the study guide he gives you.
Take him if you can! Lectures can be a bit boring at times, but I found myself really learning a lot in this class that is relevant to the real world. The class just had 5 small assignments, weekly quizzes, and 3 unit quizzes, super easy.
Professor Bonczek doesn't care about students. In the middle of a pandemic, he made the class harder because the class was doing well in the online format. The class should have just been an easy gen-ed, but it became one of the most annoying classes. Pick a different course if the class is still online. It was apparently easy in-person though.
Came into this course looking for an easy gen ed and was not disappointed. The professor is a really cool guy and I honestly thought his lectures were interesting and well-structured. The assignments are usually pretty easy, there were only 3 big unit tests and as long as you show up to class and study even a little, you'll be fine.
Easy class. Watch the lectures and take the weekly quiz which is straight forward. He has a slow, monotone voice, so if you are taking it online, watch them speed up. Takes a bit of time to watch the lectures, but the quiz and exam questions come right out of them. 5 super easy, 15 minute assignments other than the quizzes
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Literally thought it would be an easy gen ed class and I was wrong he found out people were posting his quizzes and exams online so he decided to punish the entire class by making everything so difficult - he shorted the amount of time you can take a test and quiz, reduced the amount of attempts and barely provided info
Great prof, homework accounts for a large portion of the class and exams are exactly like the course objectives.
Great professor! Goes above and beyond to help his students. He will make sure you pass his class.
He finds a way to make uninteresting material enjoyable to learn. It is not a class you will just get an 'A' in without putting work in, but if you put the work in you will be successful.
Here was my weekly routine: read the two to four PowerPoints given for the week and take notes on the slides, then go in and ace the quizzes. The quiz material is not very difficult (you get 2 tries too) and the assignments are very easy to get an A in. This class is an easy A but you DO need to learn the material.
3 Recorded lectures a week with one quiz. Very easy and watched lectures at 1.5 speed. Unit quizzes are not difficult. Professor Bonczek is well respected and will help with anything you need. Show up to lectures if you are confused on a topic. Highly recommend this class.
Pretty easy class, the content is not hard to grasp and exams are exactly like the weekly quizzes. Very few assignments but the lectures are boring. Dr. Bonczek was a great guy but seemed uninterested during lectures (however he did express that teaching the online format of the course was difficult for him so I understand). Overall an easy A.
The lab has very few grades and is not well adapted to be delivered online. There was no feedback given on lab reports. Personally, I would not recommend the online lab. He seems pretty cool and understanding in general though.
The class is an easy A. Exams are open note and not proctored. Attendance is not mandatory, but there are extra credit quizzes involved in each lecture. He was a very boring lecturer. If you need a GPA booster, this is it.
Easy A. Good Professor and very passionate. The topics covered are very boring but the class is easy, just read the power points.
Is this class a super easy A and science gen ed? Yes. Is the class also interesting and actually worth taking? Also yes.
Super easy class to take as a physical science requirement. Weekly open-note quizzes (all of the info is in his powerpoints), occasional assignments that take ten minutes or less, and open-note unit quizzes. No cumulative midterm/final. Also offers extensive opportunities for extra credit.
Great, super easy class to complete physical science requirement. Just watch weekly lectures and take notes, and it will be an easy A.
Overall great professor! Many lectures for this course, but as long as you show up a good portion of your grade is lecture questions which are easy points. Overall a good gen-ed science to take highly recommend.
Super easy class and every exam is open notes. Go to class, because he gives a ton of extra credit
Bonczek will leave lab in the middle of class for awhile/leave early and not say anything. Quizzes are difficult and unclear. He refuses to update due dates on canvas & hasnt updated grades in months. Requires a printed lab report.
He is a really iconic guy! The class is pretty easy and you learn a lot of important information. He is really great professor and I suggest taking him at least once while at UF!
Loved this Prof and his class. The class is a super easy A, exams and quizzes aren't proctored and he's really flexible about everything. Super funny guy. Attendance is mandatory but the lectures were super interesting and you can tell he really cares about what he's teaching. Definitely recommend this class.
This class was a super easy A. Professor Bonczek is very chill; he allows 8 unexcused absences per semester. You answer lecture questions for attendance and he gives the opportunity for extra credit through bonus questions. Basically no homework (4 assignments total); quizzes and exams easily found on Quizlet and his lecture PPTs
A chill professor for anyone that wants to complete their physical science credit. Quizzes are open note and exams will always have a study guide and review day. Assignments also take an hour at most. Unless you actively skip class/lecture or don't pay attention, it is pretty difficult to get anything other than an A.
Most of the quizzes and exams are repeated from years' past, using quizlet to help study was the best tool. Really fun teacher, sometimes can talk too much but it is fine.
Freest class of my life. Perfect if you need a physical science credit. Everything is on Quizlet and there is so much extra credit. Prof Bonczek knows what's up. He's not trying to make your life suck. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an easy class.
Really nice guy and understanding. I felt the zoom lectures were a little boring at times and not as engaging as they could have been. The information was interesting nonetheless. Overall, I would recommend the class and prof.
Awesome professor! Took SWS2007 just as an elective and really liked how he teaches so Im taking another course with him in Fall. Great teacher, feels like he is talking and explaining to you instead of reciting a lecture. And the course was really interesting too
Extremely knowledgable about what he is teaching, and you can tell he is passionate about it too. This really helps when material can be a bit dry, he is able to make it comprehensible and interesting. We got seven freebies as far as absences go. Quizzes and exams were take home, pretty easy. Five HW assignments total, also easy. HE IS SO GREAT!!!
EASIEST CLASS EVER! Allows 7 unexcused absences per semester, only 5 hw and you can drop one, 5 quizzes with 3 attempts and can drop one, only 3 exams multiple choice and everything is on quizlet. Literally no effort required for this class plus he is a really nice guy. He loves what he teaches and you can tell. overall an amazing class, def recom.
This professor is extremely and nice and cares about his students so much. He is very passionate about what he teaches and just wants his students to do well. Highly recommend!!
Dr. Bonczek makes his course very easy. Answers are on Quizlet if you need help and exams are not proctored. Material is straight forward and easy to understand.
I am not a geology major so this class was pretty difficult for me. However, he is an awesome professor and would go over all the material during his office hours and was great at explaining the material. Nice professor and if you have to take a physical science, I recommend him! Definitely go to office hours if you're having trouble.
Professor Bonczek was an awesome professor. Very approachable, knowledgable, and just an overall great guy. If you need a physical science credit, take his class.
I needed a physical science credit and this was such an easy class to fulfill that credit!! Just need to attend class and answer five questions that are answered during the lecture, it's collected and used as attendance. He gives you a study guide with answers before each exam and is such an easy grader. Barely any homework.
Easy A science credit because his lectures are so easy to pay attention to. Just go to class and review the study guide before the tests. Lectures were very interesting and the material was relevant in everyday life.
James is a very solid professor. He is charismatic and enthusiastic about what he teaches which makes the lectures much more bearable. There's no textbook and very few assignments with only 10 quizzes and 3 exams; so as long as you show up to class, and take notes (quickly, he goes kind of fast), you'll easily pass. I 100% would take it again.
Make sure to take notes during the lectures. There is a lot of info but his assessments and HW are usually almost word-for-word how he explained it in class. He tries his best to make it interesting/practical. If you do the study guides and study a little, it should be easy.
I took this course as a physical science req. BUT, if your not a geology major or have actual interest in it, it can become pretty difficult for being an "INTRO" class. Luckily, Dr.Bonczek is pretty awesome & helpful via Zoom. There's a weekly quiz, 2 assignments, & 3 exams. Even w/ 90% of study material online I struggled, but study & you'll pass.
Great professor with straight forward and clear lectures, assignments, quizzes, and exams. He gives a study guide before every exam and if you take the time to fill it out and look it over you will get an A on his exam. There are in class lecture questions that are given before class and you fill it out during lecture.
I can't say it's a bad course or prof is bad. However, do not take it if you think it is an easy A class. The exam is online, open the notes before. but, he changed exam to in person, close note. I ended up with an A- thanks to him changing back to an online open book for the third exam. Otherwise, I'm going to get b or b+.
Gets boring but easiest physical science credit. Attend class because you have to follow along with the lecture since he gives you a paper with blanks to fill in. Gives plenty of extra credit and a study guide for exams.
His lectures can be complex and a few I had to listen to twice to get it, but wow! I learned so much in this class about the importance of our soil and the impacts humans have on the environment. It was a unique and ideal class to learn about the State of Florida. Professor Bonczek is enthusiastic, challenging and available. Really great class.
This class was pretty easy. There were 3 big exams that only had material that was on the study guide. If you go to the lectures it's a pretty easy class to get an A in. He does lecture questions and bonus questions for extra credit every class.
Easy A as advertised. He just asks that you go to class and has an attendance assignment to track it, but 7 drops which is very forgiving. Good to be an easy class that you don't have to think about a lot, and interesting ish material sometimes.
Dr. Bonczek is the most understanding professor I've had thus far. Allowed to miss 7 classes with no penalty, and there are 3 exams. Study guides are given beforehand, and there's a review day where he gives you the answers. Easy A!
I thought this would be an easy A but my exam average was an 84 and I got an A-. The first two exams were closed-note in person which from what I've heard is different from previous years and I don't appreciate that. I think a 90 should be an A for this class but its an A-. There is little curving or leverage so exam scores must be about perfect.
The grade is primarily based on the exams, the first two were in-person and closed notes and extremely nitpicky. If you have the option to take this course online 10000% do that.
Basically memorizing the slides, but tests are straightforward and all multiple choice or true and false.
I love Dr. Bonczek. He was a great soil professor, but also a fantastic chem teacher. He explained the underlying science of soil very clearly and had great lectures. I was sad on the last class because no more soil or Dr. Bonczek. Highly recommend taking if you need the class or as an elective.
Class was super boring, but I have absolutely no interest in the topic. Bonczek lectures every class, but you can miss up to 7 classes with no point deductions. He moved our final to online and open book this semester, and he cancelled classes sometimes. There are a few online assignments that are easy to forget if you don't write them down
Bonczek is a knowledgeable professor who makes the material engaging, even for non-majors. The exams can be challenging, but going to office hours and using resources like unstuckstudy can really help. Overall, a worthwhile class.
Dr. Bonczek is the greatest. This class is a super easy A and he makes everything really clear. Content is somewhat boring but the professor is really passionate about it which is a plus.
Class is boring but not a lot of work. You get up to 7 classes that you can miss. You have to take notes as there are quizzes after every class. All tests have no honor lock. Not difficult, but I was at a borderline A- .
Really chill guy, class is not difficult and he wants you to do well. Just make sure to go to lectures to do the lecture quizzes, you are allowed to miss 7 unexcused. Really easy and chill assignments and all exams were open notes no honorlock
Clearly passionate about lectures making them enjoyable. I actually found the beginning sections very interesting. Even when topics were boring, it was manageable. Open note exams online, but beware of specific questions. Lecture quizzes each class for attendance, but you can miss (I think it was six) without penalty. Just show up and take notes!
I took World of Water as a gen ed and now I'm considering minoring in SWS. Prof made class easy to pass, and I'd look forward to taking a class with him again. He's understanding and very relaxed. As long as you can copy what's on the slides/get the gist of what he's saying, you'll do great (beware of lecture quizzes -- they used to trip me up)
There were lecture quizzes every class (his way to ensure attendance) but they were online and easy. There were abt 4 hw assignments the whole semester and they were all short and easy. the main grading components were the three exams, which were all online and open note (and he gives a study guide with a review session the class before). No final
This is an incredibly easy class to take as the exams are open note and online. The content is made interesting in class but very lecture heavy.
Very knowledgeable and patient professor, he can be quiet so don't sit at the very back. Most of the grade depends on exams, but they are manageable if you attend classes and review sessions. This class gets pretty chemistry-heavy, but the professor teaches assuming you know nothing, which helps. Ask questions!
Nice professor, dry humor. Can be quiet so don't sit at the very back. Lectures are packed with info but include a lot of review. Most of the grade depends on exams, but the exams are very reasonable if you pay attention in class + attend his great review sessions. Interesting material, ranges from history to geology to chemistry. Highly recommend!
Took this class to knock out a gen-ed requirement, and he was very aware that most people were in it for an easy A. I really ended up enjoying the content and his lectures were very interesting. Very little hw and exams are online and open note. Lecture quizzes can be a little tricky but you get 7 drops so its very reasonable. Highly recommend!
Laidback and informative class, exams are based only on the lecture slides, and the exams are open-note. You have in-class quizzes which may also show up on an exam, so pretty useful and can boost your grade a teeny bit. Only a few assignments and quizzes outside of class, never took me more than thirty minutes at most.
Exams are open-note and online. Assignments are easy, and the average was 19.5/20. There are lecture quizzes every day, but 7 are dropped.
He can be quiet so don't sit towards the back. Canvas lecture quiz every lecture - 5 questions, super easy, 7 are dropped at the end of the semester. Exams are open book and online. Some other assignments are given but they are pretty easy. It is heavily chemistry-based, but he starts from the basics to make sure everyone is on the same page.
Took this class for science credit and so did a bunch of other students. Straightforward class, but the material can get a bit repetitive and monotonous after a while. He is very generous with rounding grades and wants you to pass.
Could literally say nothing bad about Mr. Bonczek. He's clearly into what he teaches, and his lectures are always interesting. There are lecture quizzes almost every lecture, but if you are paying attention, they are very easy. Tests are open-note and online, and they aren't taken in class. Such a nice and funny teacher, I highly recommend him!
This is an amazing professor who understands that most students are only taking the class to fulfill a science credit. He is very passionate about what he teaches and outside of the lecture quiz taken in class and an open note quiz every 2 weeks or so, there really is no work required. The exams are open note and can be taken wherever.
He's awesome. Very chill teacher and doesn't take himself too seriously. But the exams have really niche questions. You're allowed to look off the notes, but that won't help. You need to know the material.
Professor Bonczek is an incredible professor who is very passionate about what he teaches. You can miss up to 7 lecture quizzes but I never wanted to miss a lecture as I always learned something fascinating about water. Exams are open note, I highly recommend this course!
