He is so easy going and funny. plus, I think he's gorgeous!! I love his type..
this guy is funny, gets to the bottom line, and you can disagree with him
funny and approachable
This guy is awesome. His lectures are funny and very effective. He does a great job and making you feel relaxed and is very approachable. You can see that he loves teaching philosophy and humanities and his assignments are very cool.
Awesome, awesome, awesome teacher. Will take again if any way possible. RAISE HIS SALARY!
very likable kind of guy. extremely talkative and easy on grading. teacher strongly recommended
He's a great prof..hilarious, makes the class more fun..gives enough time to complete all assignments.will help if u ask him.i'd definetly reccomend him..if it were possible, i wish i could have him as my prof. for ALL my classes =)
Very good teacher and is the most funny guy in the world. Excepts lat papers till last day of class and any missed work. Oh ya did i mention that he is hilarious? ^_^ This teacher is very understanding and helpful. You will not be disapointed.
Lindahl is one of the best teachers. He makes his students feel comfortable. the only thing i regret leaving State is this humanities program. f*cking awesome teachers that i'll never forget. Grading is very compromisable. Best program i've seen around...
Very approachable
He's so funny! He has great stories! He's helpful and will break down the stories that we read...especially the cnofusing ones. His assignments are not very hard but you still have to do some work on them. He grades easy and he's just an overall cool guy
Lindahl is the tytest professer ever, even though he is very easygoing, i learn so much from his class than all of my other classes combined.
He is the most awsome teacher ever, he's really funny and nice. He can teach anything and make it interesting, he has a great personality and makes you feel comfortable. He grades pretty easily, but not easily as in he just gives out A's and B's...
This class was interesting and fun. I would recommend it to anyone that like reading fantasy novels.
Prof Lindahl's the greatest he's so aproachab;e and funny. He's just like Lewis Black! He loves Southpark and loves to relate anything to lecture ... so just keep him talking and you'll have a great time.
Fun guy. Good sense of humor. Summarizes reading material then gives real world examples you can understand. Exams are essay-based. Gives you 13 questions ahead of time of which 4 are on the exam.
Great guy. Great lecturer. Has a keen way of bringing current events into the classroom. He's also great at helping students think outside the box.
Awesome lecturer. He's funny and understanding, very approachable.
Off the hook, he's legit!
Lindahl is such a great teacher. He's known as the happy Professor. His lectures are awesome, just sit back and listen... and you'll basically understand everything from the reading you did or didn't do.
loves what he teaches! and makes the class more enjoyable. i would recommend him. his class was very intersting and fun! wasnt relatively to hard either. - took it in the summer so we had lots of reading and writing. HES great! take him!
Great professor! No pressure, learn at your own pace, but he makes the material interesting. Speak up in class, this is not one professor who will embarass you. In fact, he'll support almost anything YOU say with facts/writings.
Absolutely awesome. He is a great guy and funny as hell. I would take all his classes if I could.
I took his class and I am totally hooked to that class. It was one of the best classes I ever took in college and Lindahl is probably the key why it was this way. He is approachable, easy to talk and is very knowledgable about his field. Great teacher!!
Proffesor Lindahl was one of the best teachers ive ever had. He was really helpful and really made the class worth being in. I was already interested in the material but having him as the professor made it that much cooler
The ABSOLUTE coolest professor i've ever had. He makes you think a lot. The things he teaches relate to real life. He is a really kick back guy and way down to earth. Late assignments are no big deal, and he always has funny stories to tell you. DEFINITELY recommended.
He is the best professor ever!!!!! He is sooo funny, and intelligent at the same time. I love every class I take with him..He is the coolist professor you will ever meet!
Great prof. Laid back, interesting lectures, and listens to comments from students. Tests are easy (MC/matching/short fill in) as are the papers. Rarely need the book - just take good notes. Ask him about working at Petco or the punk band he was in.
One of the best teachers I have ever had, if I could I would take a class with him every semester. He tells you what you need to know and talks more about South Park then all that dull stuff we're supposed to read. Take him if you get the chance...
This man has made my life a better place.
hes realllllllllllllllly good teacher and very respectful and totally funny too, if you can take him for a class go for it!
Awesome professor. He cares more about doing the readings and discussion rather than minor details. He trails off topic a fair amount, but all in good fun and offers great class discussion.

this is my favorite teacher so far, he's so funny and friendly. you might not like him if you like george bush though.
An absolute blast to be in his class. He makes coming to class worth it. Ask him to show you his tatoo. He actually makes me want to take more philosophy classes.
I had Lindahl my first semester freshmen year for hum 1b. He is one of if not the finest educators I have ever encountered. He is everything a teacher should be and more. The semester of the humanities program that I had him was the one where I felt I learned the most. He is witty, incredibly humorous, easy to talk to and helpful. His classes are productive and he is excellent at taking random pop culture examples that we can relate to that makes the material something we can connect to.
Lindahl is absolutely awesome! He has the mosting interesting & entertaining lectures & seminars! He's really easy to approach & talk to. He will help you out when you don't understand. His assignments are fairly easy as long as you have an interest in what you're doing. If you ever get the chance, you gotta take his class :)
I love being in his class! Lectures & seminars are very entertaining! Assignments are quite clear & he's very understanding towards everyone. He will help you until you understand the material. Laid-back & just very fun, if I get the chance, I will definitely take another class with Lindahl :)

awesome teacher!
the best teacher ever. he is so nice and funny!
Midterm is straight forward and short answer is easy to get point. Summer session consists of 2 essays, one midterm and one final. Lindahl's lecture is interesting and fun. I really enjoy his class.
Easy class, fair grader. He provides a study guide for the exams. I never read the book, just went to class everyday, and studied from the study guide. I got an A, and you can too...
Awesome teacher. Had him for honors. waiting to take another class till he teaches it.
A wonderful teacher that displayed a great understanding of broad topics throughout history. If you study for the midterm and final you will do fine in the class. Four quizzes and three to four essays that you are personally allowed to choose.
He's wonderful. Great teacher, understanding, and a nice person. Take his classes every chance you can! <3
Go to class to be successful. Ask lots of qestions to get clarity of topics. Very helpful to see him during office hours. He's very friendly. Tests are in class short answer essays. Take lots of notes and do the reading!
One of the best teachers at SJSU hands down. Has a sense of humor and is lenient if you ask him for an extra day for an assignment. Very chill and definitely one professor you shouldnt miss taking. Quiz questions are discussed in class prior to taking the quiz, but even when I wasnt in class to know the question, it was easy to answer.
He's the best prof I've ever had at sjsu! had him for summer, it didnt seem like i was sitting there for 3 hrs at all, class was interesting HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Awesome professor! Tons of fun in class...goes off on random tangents! All great
The class was NOT EASY, but it was fascinating. He wanders far afield but he usually, eventually, has a point. Definitely worth taking.
This class will give anyone a nice foundation in philosophy. Prof. Lindahl does a great job simplifying complex concepts. I would recommend it to anyone.
Don't insult Lindahl by calling him or his classes EASY. I assure you, neither the material nor his teaching methods are for the feeble-minded. FRIENDLY and HELPFUL if you have Qs. Digressions? OFTEN. He has a penchant for Spongebob, South Park, and big dogs. Take ANY of his classes (Hum Honors, Bus Eth, Phil) and ask to see his hippie picture!
He is a great guy! He is very laid back and fun. He often times tell us stories of his past and trails off the subject to keep the class fun. In the summer there were only 2 papers and 2 exams. They are all fairly easy. He's pretty flexible too. He is very up to date with pop culture so he can relate to younger people. Go take his class!
Knows the stuff very well, gives great examples and analogies to help understand concepts studied in class. Great personality, great professor, extremely helpful and approachable. I highly recommend his classes.
Funny guy. Sometimes goes off topic to lighten the subject. Not a boring class at all. You may not even need to read the book, but you might need it for some info when you write your papers. Easy class. Take this instructor
This teacher is awesome. He knows and understands the material and his lectures are clear and straight forward. Also, he has fun stories he tells the class to keep the lectures light and enjoyable. Great guy!
Clearly the perfect professor for the subject. He provided enjoyable and meaningful lectures which came from experience. Papers and tests were fair, challenging, and dependent on reading as well as whats written on board.
I LOVE HIM!!!!!
great professor/fun class. lots of cool examples and his explanations are very clear. class is not "easy" in the sense that some moron can get an A in the class. it is easy in the sense that he makes his lectures very clear and makes it easy for you to learn. one of the best professors i've had at SJSU. highly recommended for this class.
Funny and intelligent discussions, as well as nice to look at. Fair grader on exams and fair reading assignments.
I have had two very amazing instructors at SJSU: Dr. Stanley in math department, and now Professor Lindahl. I agree with all other comment about his amazing teaching style and what a great instructor he is.
I don't really need to post this because everyone knows he's a good, funny, laid-back, easy teacher. His lectures are fun but still manage to get the point across. He does get distracted alot but it's fun. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Great teacher. Very knowledgeable and keeps everything interesting. Almost wanted to change my major to Philosophy because of how good an insructor Professor Lindahl is. Laid back and helpful as well.
i like this guy. into his lectures; relaxed class. tests, essays are decent. favorite class of the semester! highly recommend
Like most people have said, he literally knows EVERYTHING. He is very understanding if you have problems with completing assignments on time, but you need to talk to him. He is very funny and good at balancing pens on the desks (ask him about it)! Definitely take him if you have the chance
This professor was amazing, and I really enjoyed his lectures and just listening to him talk. He's a very laid back kind of guy, and VERY funny too. Tells great stories and is a pretty easy grader. He sums up the reading very well, and doesn't require that many ass, plus he accepts make-up work. Got an A in the class...wish i could take him again
He is an alright professor. The class doesn't seem stressful because it is pretty relaxing. However, his lectures are boring sometimes. Midterms aren't so bad if you followed the study guide. He grades a little hard on the essays though.
Easy A. He never takes attendance. Going to class is more like a discussion lead by him on the topic listed on the syllabus schedule. Most of your grade is decided on two papers that are short and take a total of maybe 1-2 hours to write each. There are 2 midterms and a final, if you simply read the chapters and take decent notes you'll ace em'
Easy, cool, and sometimes very funny.
He is very funny. Although the materials may be a little boring sometimes, he tries to make them interesting. He posts handouts online and gives many interesting examples to help students better understand the theories and concepts. There are two 4 to 5-page papers, two midterms, and one non-cumulative final. I would recommend taking his class.
This guy is incredibly good at teaching his subject. The book you'll have to buy makes it extremely hard to understand, but if you go to lecture, he'll explain everything thoroughly and exceptionally well. He'll really make you think about the world we live in and the people around it. You'll definitely love this class.
Even if you have no interest in anything being taught and you don't try at all, you will probably still learn alot from this teacher. He is awesome.
LOVED this class. Funny, interesting, cool, knowledgeable teacher. I had this class first thing in the morning and it was a great way to wake up...nice light debate peppered with humor and a lot of great information. A socially conscious man. Wish I had taped the lectures...would take his class over and over...best class I've had at SJSU.
This is probably the best teacher I have had in a long time and certainly the best at SJSU. His classes are very interesting and he makes them better with his sense of humor. This is a class that you wish was one of those 3 hour classes and you would look forward to it. Light work load 2 papers and 3 mediocre tests. I highly recommend this teacher.
Great class. He goes on tangents pretty frequently... but covers most everything in depth. Uses the book a ton, grades fair... gives good study guides and time for tests. Would take more classes with him if I could.
One of the best teachers. Very easy makes class really fun.
very forgiving class, as long as you turn in assignments on time, it's an easy B. lectures are entertaining and adaptable to current events, engages with students well, basically it's the jay leno headlines hour every lecture. funny guy.
This guy is sarcastic as hell and extremely funny. He really knows his stuff and is up-to-date on current events. Very entertaining class, he's like a stand-up comic. 3 midterms (45% of your grade) and 2 essays (55%). Not all that demanding. No cheat sheet allowed but just use the study guide he hands out and you'll do fine. Would recommend him.
Best professor I've had at SJSU. Lindahl is very charismatic and entertaining, so class seems to pass by very fast. I didn't read the book, just showed up to classes and got A's on both midterms (final grade not posted yet). TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!! :)
I adore this brilliant, brilliant, cynical man! An amazing professor, and absolutely hilarious. Definitely has his quirks and tends to go off on tangents (but in the best way possible). An easy grader, accepts late work, is more interested in verbally discussing the material than thinking up assignments.
Funny. Kind of rants about random things all the time. Never met a more random person in my life. His class consists of 2 tests, and 3 essays which are fairly easy. You honestly don't even have to study throughout the course, just do the very detailed guideline worksheet which he gives up prior to each test/essay. Therefore attendance not mandatory
Lindahl is one of the few professors that will try his best to spark anyone's interest in philosophy. He explains it thoroughly and openly encourages you to speak your own interpretation. He grades essays fairly without being bias and assigns very little work. There's only 2 midterms and 3 essays (fairly easy). Definitely an easy A. :)
Excellent professor. Knowledgeable, invested in his students' success, approachable. Hysterical, too! A lot of people are suggesting his class is easy, but in my opinion, we find it easy only because his methods ensure we know our stuff!
Great teacher. Super enthusiastic and just great to talk to. Easy class and easy grader.
Amazing man, very funny, and every enjoyable class!
Amazing professor!! Makes material interesting. Very funny. Helpful when you need it. Clear in lectures. Easy grader! What more can you ask for in a professor :)!
One of the best teachers I've ever had. He explains the material in a way that makes you understand it and remember it. He's super passionate which makes class fun and entertaining. The material isn't very hard you almost don't have to do the readings just go to class and he explains it all.
I had a great time! I wish I could have more classes with Lindahl, but, alas, my major is not in philosophy. He makes you think about things in new ways, and adds information that you can use in any conversation, making the subject far more interesting. I want more!
This professor is PHENOMENAL! He knows everything about math, physics, chemistry, politics, business, philosophy, AND can keep class interesting and his students alert! If Lindahl ran for president, I'd elect him in a heartbeat! Such an intelligent guy and a helpful professor. I feel inspired by Professor Lindahl to pursue higher education! Thanks!
Phenomenal
This teacher is amazing. One of the best teachers I have ever had. He is super understanding and he knows how to make the class fun and he is really good at teaching the material. Definetly get him if you can.
A nice guy with a lot of interesting stories. If you read the material and pay attention in class you would most likely receive a good grade.
He really knows the subjects well enough where you don't have to read (but reading still helps). From time to time he will get sidetracked but it is a good sidetrack where the discussions become interesting conversations. Also, he is pretty lenient on due dates (major plus).
Always feel happy after I get out of his lectures. He doesn't not put pressure on students. U want to get an a. Its easy. Go to his class and read his reading assigments, normally, 10 page long for a week. his book is hard to understand, so skim it first before going to class. He explains very clearly and makes me feel like the world seems easy.
He's so chill and easy. He is more than lenient on his due dates (I turned in my essay the day of the final). He grades so easy on every assignment, just ramble on with detail and he gives you the benefit of the doubt.
Made it interesting and easy to understand. great teacher who really cares about his students and how they do :)
I felt robbed when I missed a lecture from him. Lindahl is the kind of person that everyone should strive to be. He is extremely intelligent, passionate (LOVES his subject), random and hilarious. Get to know him outside of class!
One of my favorite profs! He's very easy and lenient with grading. Just do your work (and have decent writing) and you'll be good to go. Seminar can get boring but he's funny to listen to when he rambles about things like his cats. I learned a lot about philosophy from his lectures. I highly recommend him!
Lindahl makes attending a 9 AM class worth it every time, even when one is hungover beyond all hell. Lectures were engaging, crystal clear, and very amusing. He often alludes to his past experiences which makes much of what we learn applicable. Class consisted of two midterms, one final (which is another midterm), 2 essays (4-5 pages each).
He makes his lectures fun and engaging for a 9 am class. Attendance is mandatory because he explains the material really well (you don't need to read the book just come to class). For exams take good notes and memorize them and you'll get an A. Also 2 papers which aren't so bad. Highly recommend him!
Incredibly friendly instructor. Dr. Lindahl is as entertaining in class as he is insightful. He has these mannerisms, of which, are hugely popular with his students. I have yet to meet one person who has said a terrible thing about Dr. Lindahl. If you do not do well in his class this is YOUR fault, not his. I just wished he taught upper division.
I just wished he taught U.D. classes.
He's an amazing professor. He seems really easy going and admits to being lazy but the truth is he cares about his students and really has passion for his field. He knows something about everything but he's super humble. He can be kind of offensive with certain subjects but it's hard to be mad when he's so funny. Recommend him.
As long as you put in the slightest amount of effort, you're guaranteed to pass, which allows the students to relax and enjoy the actual content of the class. Inspirational as a professor and a person. In touch with today's pop culture and is never afraid to relate the material of the class to movies or TV shows. Makes practical use of Humanities.
Thank you so much, Professor Lindahl!! I just got my minor in philosophy and it was all because of you. You've changed my life with your invaluable knowledge, enthusiasm, and character.
Currently attend. Hard on grading.
Exams are tough as well as grading.
Class consists of 2 essays and 3 tests. He gives study guides and writes the test questions based on what's on the study guide. He's incredibly knowable and knows the subject matter very well. Overall a great professor.
James Lindahl is an amazing man. I had him for humanities 2A and I am taking a mother one of his classes this semester. He is an excellent lecturer and is a very easy grader. He's very kind and also very inspirational.
You aren't required to participate in seminar because he usually does the talking (but it is quite helpful and fun to listen to him). We have about 4 short writing assignments (these are a breeze), 2 research papers, a speech, a cultural report, a midterm, and a short answer and essay final. Lots of readings. Very easy grader. Loves cats.
This was my second class with him and I enjoyed it. There are 3 tests and 2 essays. The tests consist of 10 short answer questions. He provides a study guide and makes the test from them. He is very passionate about this subject and knows a lot.
Listen to the rest of the reviewers here when they say that he is one of the best teachers ever. His lessons are reinforced into your memory because he pairs them with his stories of personal experiences. He gives lengthy feedback on essays, and is an objective grader. Don't be discouraged if his syllabus sounds harsh. He is an excellent professor.
simply amazing! I highly recommend him. to well in his class you need to go to every class and take detailed notes. for the writing assignments as long as you follow all the instructions he gives you will get a good grade. for the exam just write as much as you can and he'll give you some points for it even if you are a little bit off.
Best professor ever. Take Lindahl if you can, he is truly one of a kind and an extremely insightful guy. One of those teachers who will leave an everlasting impact on you. Loved every second of every class.
Fantastic professor, I wish I could keep having classes with him
Known him for years. If you can work it out in your sched, always take him. Such a fun interesting guy.
He is one of the dope at professors I have ever had! He can go off topic, but is very knowledgable and really goes out of his way to help his students succeed. Show up once in a while, but he's super fun to talk to one on one! As long as you do the assignments, you will do well. Put in a little effort, and he's just a great guy!
Funny guy. He really understands a college students life, and tries his best to keep his class do able. Very easy grader. We had a bunch of assignments due mid semester and he said," Screw it just get them to me by the last day". He is that kind of guy. One seminar period we spent looking at pictures of his very fat cat.
Really knows his stuff. He knows philosophy is confusing and is really good at explaining it. If you put in even a small amount of effort you can be sure to do well on the essays. Show up to lecture and do the reading. You'll be fine.
Enjoy self-deprecating humor and learning about concepts you can actually apply to your personal life? If so, then choose Lindahl. I had him for PHIL 160 and PHIL 70B. Got A's in both classes. He's an incredibly intelligent, yet down-to-earth professor. Even if you're not a philosophy major, you'll be able to succeed in these classes.
I love Dr. Lindahl! He's such a funny and caring professor. He's amazing at explaining all of the information and is always engaging in his teaching style. Go to class and take good notes since he doesn't teach from powerpoints. He's very approachable outside of class and will help with feedback for papers and tests. Take his class!!
Professor Lindahl is honestly the best professor I've ever had! If u just show up to lectures & take notes you will at least get a B in the class. He only has 2 essays & 2 midterms & a final. I learned a lot in his class. This class is definitely going to be one that I remember. He's a really cool & funny professor. Show up to class it's worth it!
Dr. L. is a very good lecturer, and relates topics well through personal stories. In the spirit of this honors-level course, he instructs HUM177B through a lot of engaging discussion with the cohort. Dr. L. also provides detailed responses to submitted works. This adds value to an already worthwhile course. If you are able, take a class from Dr. L.
Wow, he is a fantastic lecturer and an amazing seminar facilitator. I looked forward to his class every day. In Seminar we really got a great round table discussion of the topics at hand, I feel like everyone was encouraged to speak and all opinions were discussed . He made the content really accessible to everyone.
Lindahl was amazing! I had him for my first semester of the Humanities Honors Program. He's an easy grader. Very clear on his expectations. Loves his cats. He's very approachable, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask him. Do your work diligently and don't fall behind in the readings. If you do that, you'll have a fun time in this class.
Professor Lindahl is super easy going. He gives out "pop quizzes" but lets you know ahead of time so you can prepare. He grades easy. Has a great sense of humor.
He is super funny & wants everyone to do well! Attendance is not mandatory, but he is interesting to listen to. He is super into philosophy and castles. He has a 30lb cat !!!! AMAZING. I loved him. He tells you in advance when the "pop" quizzes are.
Nice guy and easygoing. Tests require a fair amount of studying, but they aren't impossible as long as you know the terms on the study guide. Essays were pretty easy and straightforward. You don't really need the books as long as you attend every class and take great notes. Not a science or philosophy major and still got an A. Learned a lot.
Interesting and laidback guy. He's honest about his personal views and doesn't let them inordinately impact what he teaches. He's really knowledgeable, responsive to questions both in person and over email, and his tests are fair and straightforward. Plus, he tells lots of funny and thought-provoking stories.
Professor Lindahl probably has to be my favorite professor I've had since I've attended SJSU. He is super funny, approachable, and just overall makes the material in The Humanities Honors Program fun to learn and a lot easier to understand. You should attend his class, but if you miss a few sessions you'll still be able to pass. Highly recommend.
He is so intelligent. He is very funny, and has the best anecdotes. I hope I have the chance to take one of his classes again. Such a cool guy!
He provides plenty of examples throughout his lectures for a clear understanding of complex concepts. Few exams and two papers. Keep up with the textbooks and lectures and you will be alright.
Lindahl reminds me a lot of Penn Jillette in the way that hes funny, sarcastic, has no problem expressing his views and saying how things are, and seems to be against everything unright in this world. With that aside, Lindahl is a great lecturer and keeps class interesting through stories and funny examples thatll help you remember the material.
Dr. Lindahl inspired me in exploring philosophy of sciences, language, and socio-political studies. Hes an examplary teacher with a great sense of humor that relives your stressful days. I recommend you to take his course even if you are a non-philosophy major.
he's super chill and really nice. material is easy to understand. alot of people skip class because you can just do the readings and pass. makes tests super easy to help students. gives study guide. 2 papers, really easy. bubbly personality, sucks that not a lot of people participated in class!
I love this guy. I had him as one of the professors in my humanities honors course. He's very personable and has a great sense of humor. He's easy going, laid back, and approachable. He's not super picky with grading and gives more time on assignment due dates if necessary. His lectures are interesting whether or not the material is.
Prof Lindahl is one of the best professors I've ever had! He is hilarious and makes the classroom environment very comfortable and relaxed. He is pretty lenient when it comes to grading, deadlines, attendance- pretty much everything! If you get the chance to take one of his classes, take it!
A great professor, and a great personality! I thoroughly enjoyed his summer session 186 class. Always cracks jokes and is ready to engage with students on each and everything. A true philosophy professor. There was a midterm, a paper and a final, but all were straightforward and well guided with clear instructions.
Philosophy is one of the hardest majors for many reasons, he has truly made his lectures right down to an art. He makes philosophy cool, fun, and easy to understand. If you are like me, and philosophy is hard to read take Professor Lindahl his lectures are epic! Three words to describe him: Fountain of Knowledge.
Lindahl is the dopest professor at SJSU. He's very sarcastic and hilarious and always cracks jokes about what's going on in the world. He also loves cats. His lectures are clear and straightforward and he is super laid back about grading criteria. As long as you put in some effort, you'll be golden.
Take this professor! Very clear grading standards & study guides for the tests. Very light-hearted/ tells lots of jokes! Really wholesome teacher who makes philosophy PAINLESS for students. His online teaching has been great. 2 essays + 2 midterms + final. The online midterm was open-note! Need a book (cheap) for essays. EASY A teacher who cares!
Dr. Lindahl will teach you much in this course. What you will learn is largely foundational in the discipline, but he goes beyond that to give context and relation between various philosophers and their thoughts. Take this course and professor, regardless of your major! Dr. Lindahl will inspire you to contemplate life beyond merely getting ahead.
He is an amazing Professor who sincerely cares about the material and his students. He has a wonderful sense of humor which brings the material to life and you are never bored. He gives good feedback, is more than welcome to help, and he truly wants his students to succeed. I absolutely recommend taking any of his classes - he is the best!
Professor Lindahl is by far the best professor I've ever had at SJSU. He has a great sense of humor. He makes the lecture very easy to understand and actually explains the concepts in depth. Quizzes are all based on the lecture. 2 essays. No midterm. Weekly discussions board and quizzes. Take him!
Not a philosophy major but this class was immensely interesting! Professor Lindahl doesn't give tests but has weekly quizzes and DB's every other week, with 2 major papers. A fully online class, and video lectures are longer but he gives plenty of examples to reference to. Papers are well explained and easy/fun for once too! Take this class!!
Professor Lindahl is very easygoing, friendly, and has a great sense of humor. His lectures are engaging and he respects students' opinions during seminar. There are a few large assignments for the class, but Lindahl grades generously and values effort. He is super approachable and class with him was a lot of fun.
just took prof lindahls winter online class. he cracks a bunch of jokes and succeeds in making an async class as engaging and "human" as possible (not boring). one quiz per module and 2 essays. gives a lot of relevant and clear examples to drill the concepts in your head. consider taking him. this class opens your mind to a lot of life things lol
He is one of the best teachers I have ever had! He is witty and funny. If you're lucky, you get to meet his cats on camera. He provided great lectures. Thorough review of the midterms and final and you can pass with good notes on those. 1 lecture/test a week. If you attend class it should be easy to pass. 1 paper, 1 powerpoint. Essay question final
If you're looking for easy GEs, this is one of those classes and professors you should consider. No hw, tests are all short responses and the essays are easy because it's based on basic reasoning. The lectures aren't super engaging, but they're interesting and if you attend them you almost don't even need to study for the tests. Fairly nice guy too
Dr. Lindahl made philosophy of science fun and interesting. Lectures were funny and engaging and all the assignments were pretty easy so long as you paid attention and took good notes. 2 Essays, bi-weekly DQ, and weekly quizzes (5 ?'s each). Learned a lot and enjoyed this class from beginning to end
Such a great professor! Extremely understanding and easy to work with. No homework just 3 short opinion-based essays, and 4 short exams that he actually covers in class. The only "downside" you need to attend class often for exam material. Highly recommend.
He is very passionate about the subject and inspires students to get involved and ask questions. He was very approachable and fun to learn from. Personally, there was an overload of information sometimes and the exams were a bit difficult but if you pay attention in class and review the given materials, you'll do fine!
Passionate professor, lectures the whole class so make sure to take notes. 2 or 3 essays, 3 or 4 tests, final is not cumulative. The tests are very specific on the topics that you go over between each unit, so make sure to take notes, and really memorize the facts. Each question is worth 10 points with 4 questions, on very specific topics.
The professor was able to explain and present all information really well to students, but the slides that he goes over lacks a lot of detail. When trying to study for exams and review material, having slides that only state the topic with no background information can be frustrating. 4 FRQ exams including the final and 2 essays.
a lot of reading, however professor is super engaging and flexible with due dates, grading, etc. communicate what you want and need and he'll work with you. overall amazing!
Prof Lindahl is great. You do have to attend all of his lectures if you want to do well in the class, but as long as you go to class you should have no problem doing well in the class. He explains everything in so much detail and makes the lectures funny while he does it. 4 exams with 4 questions each that he basically tells you the answers to.
Taking this class for the winter session means a lot of daily reading and watching lectures. The topics are interesting, but the reading can feel tedious. Otherwise, Lindahl is a fair grader and it is a simple class to pass if you do the reading and watch the lectures.
Super easy and interesting class, and even if you do poorly on the tests, there are two essays that are worth WAY more than the exams so you're basically guaranteed to pass as long as do them.
If you show up; ask questions, give your honest thoughts related to lecture topic, allow yourself to be collaborative, question when needed, you will do well in this course.
