His class is easy, but you have to show up everyday and do the 40 points of extra credit. You will get an A or B for sure.If you skip and don't do extra pts. The class will not be a breeze, it's really up to you.
he's pretty cool. you do need to attend class though. read before you go to lecture and you'll be fine. the extra credit really helps, as other person said.. guranteed no less than a B if you go to class and do extra credit
very nice guy, pretty cool, offers extra credit (40 pts which equals a test); you must attend class because he has quizzes (open book and open neighbor) and some before-lecture tests that have 10 questions. reviews before EVERY test (that are in the syllabus) study from those and you'll do well

Excellent Professor, this is a great example of teaching. Very well organized. Very helpful. Doesn't have a single hair on his head but shows regardless that he cares about his students.
one of the best professors i have ever had, willing to help, when needed. Good class to take. His study style is fun, and you will learn from him.
awsome class! if i wasn't graduating in may, i would definitely take another class with him. even though you have to go to every class, he keeps it interesting. a MUST TAKE!
AWESOME!!! Never had more fun in class!
I want to be fair to Mr. Clark. He is a nice and helpful professor but he makes his classes much harder than they have to be...from his syllabus; Before Lecture Tests, Examinations (ALE), Pop Quizes (about 10), taking sides quizzes, Taking Sides Ananlysis Reports..You will be busy every day.....I would avoid...
WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!!! Too many assignments and not enough explanation. First and last time I take a class with him!! 5 before lecture exams, 3 after lecture exams, 2 analysis reports, 12 pop quizes, 6 online quizes...and that was in a five week summer session. I do not even remember what was taught.
i don't know what everyone was doing last semester, but this guy is a nightmare. Stay away, test average 60 or below on the first 2 test so far with NO curve!
You gave to attend class or you wont do well. Other then that read the book and you'll be fine. Theres some kind of quiz every day so you have to keep up but hes a great guy and very helpful. But as the people that complained meant to say, don't take this class if your mildly retarded or you wont do well
Terrible....Here's the deal...if you aren't athletic or a guy don't plan on making an A in this class....makes sexual jokes....rude...focused on martial arts only..stay away girls...just stay away....
I got an A in his class with minimal effort. There is a lot of work but most of it is extremely easy and done in class (ie open book quizzes). His tests are from a test bank so they are hard but account for a small percentage of your total grade. If you show up to class you should be able to easily get a B in the class. There was extra credit also
HORRIBLE teacher. Has a "Macho Man" attitude, has an attidude problem in general, he's rude and makes a class that historically shouldn't be difficult really hard. Grades like an ass, purposedly phrases things tricky so you get it wrong. Take any other professor available....STAY AWAY FROM HIM, he will make your semester miserable. A true jerk.
I had Dr. Clark for several classes and he is a HOOT! I learned a lot of information from him and he presents it in a fun way that keeps your attention. I managed to get all As in his classes. He gives you plenty of opportunity to make up your grades or make an A or B. It is very hard to fail his classes!

UGH, don't get me started on this guy. Rude and cocky. Horrible professor. Makes things harder than they need/should be. What a jerk.
I TOOK A NUTRITION AND A HUMAN SEXUALITY COURSE WITH PROF. CLARK BOTH CLASSES WERE AWESOME! HE HAS A GREAT WAY OF TEACHING THAT MAKES IT EASY TO LEARN (I.E. YOU PLAY GAMES TO REVIEW FOR THE TEST) BE COOL TO HIM AND HE WILL BE COOL TO YOU THATS THE BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE I JUST WISH I HAD MORE PROF. LIKE HIM!!!!
He's tough but fair. Hard to get an A but if you put enough effort you can make a B. He really helps you learn the material and is funny.
easy to learn and laid back. good for an easy a and teaches helpful ideas about kicking A@S!
Clark is a great professor--makes learning interesting and fun. Very straight foward, explains everything so that you can understand it. Really funny also...I definately recommend him! :)
Weight Management class. A class that should have been EASY but he makes his tests too hard
great professor. easy daily work, but tests can seem to be somewhat difficult. keep up on your reading, and you should be fine. tough but fair guy. keeps class rolling with non stop jokes and other entertainment. great guy, would reccommend him to anyone.
His classes aren't that hard, but go to class to ensure you don't miss any quizzes. He is really liberal and throws in his political view frequently..It wouldn't really bother me except it is a health class...
Fairly easy. But his quizzes are a shouting match and his powerpoint notes are word for word even his jokes. Would not be necessary to go to class except for the pop quizzes. Very into himself, even makes coments like, UTSA would let accept anyone, and my response is that UTSA must let anyone teach as well. Take someone else if possible.
Gives open class pop quizzes where people shout the answers...totally useless and you dont learn anything. Overblown test making easy information difficult. Very full of himself and seems to hate his job.
I agree that the "open" pop quizzes are useless, but they're an easy way to earn points in his class. Also true that his tests can be difficult, but he gives an opportunity for extra credit and has an easy health paper to write. Got an B and really didn't put much effort.
Useless class. I need this class (the models) to pursue my degree and I feel like I have learned nothing. I want my money back!
Felt like I was in 1st grade again he would make us play dumb games. Attendance is recommended he gives open book Pop quizzes randomly especially when he see's someone walk out. Test are hard! This class should be a no brainer..but he gets pleasure out of pissing people off. Good thing is there is extra credit! U can get an A I did. Annoying class.
Thank God this is my last semester with Clark. He must think so much of himself. He makes his tests much harder then they need to be for the topics and when you ask him about it, he gets frustrated and angry. Does not like to be proven wrong. Has "pop quizzes" or no one would come to class.
I've taken every health class imaginable with this guy. His classes aren't hard but his tests resemble SAT crap. Makes very sarcastic, political and religious remarks all the time-which have nothing to do with Health-need I remind you! Be there every day! He claims if you take all 13 quizzes he would bump up your grade-liar!
Dr. Clark is cool but be aware that he is very opinionated on EVERYTHING! Other than that he has extra credit that he allows students to do which is equivalent to a 50 on an exam. His tests are so simple you just have to think and do the reviews. The main reason why people complain so much about him is because attendace is mandatory to get an A.
Multiple Choice tests, extra credit, he knows alot and tries to help you learn and get a high grade if you show up and try. He isnt the run of the mill professor bc he adds games and reviews for tests and such that many think are "wastes of their time" but they are just his way of making his job fun and not BORING. I rec him and his classes.
This is an interesting class; however, be prepared for an open book quiz everyday. He makes little jokes and is kind of funny but the information can be a bit boring if you aren't into the topic. The tests aren't too bad. I got B's without studying.
I have had him for 2 classes,, if you show up for the quizes which are open book and everyone yells out answers and you do the extra credit you will at least get a b. some of the tests are hard in the foundations class but if you do all the other stuff he assigns you still could end up with an a. he makes the reviews fun and he is comedic
I had him in the first summer session for personal health. I didn't enjoy the reviews. We had to play games and that's not my thing. After the first review, I decided not to go to any of them and still passed with a 'b'. I didn't do the extra credit, but if I had my grade would have been an 'a'. I would take him again.
Go to class, take notes, and you're set for a good grade. GO TO CLASSSSSS!!!
I've taken 4 classes with Prof. Clark, & I love him! He's straight forward, fair, and helpful. Definitely one of my favorite teachers at UTSA. Does give pop quizzes but we're students, its our job 2 go 2 class! Tthe quizzes r open book & u can get help from the class. If people don't like him, then they really expect everything handed 2 them.
Took drugs and health, with him. Really easy, those who complain that his tests are hard expect everything handed to them, sorry but this is college :) Would take him again.
Not smart. This is an emotional wellness class, and although he says pop-psych is crap, he teaches it. Makes political and religious jokes. He is not funny, but thinks he's hilarious. This is the most useless 3 hours of my week. I am insulted by having to listen to him. He should not be teaching at the college level. Easy, but terrible.
Class is boring, attendance is mandatory becuase you have quizzes. quizzes are open book and you can help each other out as a class. The extra credit got me an A in this class. He's an okay kind of a guy. EASY A
Super interesting class!! His tests are kinda hard. Recommend reading the chapters and the notes. He gives super easy pop quizzes in class so it is a good idea to go.
Really interesting class! He gives super easy quizzes in class so you must attend for points. The tests are kinda tricky so I recommend reading the chapters and notes. Lots of extra credit given.
Easy A. I think he's funny. Not at all mean-spirited. Very helpful. Offers extra credit. Open book pop quizzes (YOU DO NEED THE BOOK). Lecture are boring but easy. Tests can be difficult. Give a study guide so you can still make a B on the tests which arent worth much of your grade anyway. TAKE HIM!
Pop quizzes are open book/easy, so bring it! That being said, go to class. Lectures are boring. Tests can be tricky and he will want to always be right. A lot of extra credit. Thinks he is funny and is VERY immature. I wouldn't recommend him based on that. But if you can get past that and study, then go ahead.
Good teacher, funny. Gives helpful fun reviews for all exams and has open book quizzes. Has projects but you turn it in piece by piece with multiple attempts to re-do for full credit. Awesome teacher. Go to class and pay attention. Easy.
DO NOT TAKE HIM !!!!! One of the worst professors ever taken. He has a lot of homework, couple projects, and 4 test. He is simply a power point professor. His test are hard and his reviews are horrible. Does give extra credit.
Professor was very easy. Go to class and reviews are EXACTLY 100% what is on his tests. If you think the class is hard then odds are you didnt attend. Takes random quizzes which are open book or open class. SUPER easy grades.
He is a pretty tough prof but does give extra credit so make sure to do the extra points. Attendance is IMPORTANT because he will give pop quizzes which aren't hard. Test reviews aren't too helpful and he spends too much time on power points. Def not an easy A.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. The only mildly redeeming thing about him is the extra credit which is really long. He docked my whole class for not giving him a certain chart on a project that he never said he wanted. Also he will get mad if you sniffle during tests and call you out during them. Also his lecture is a repeat of a high school class.
Attendance is mandatory because he gives in class quizzes. Being late is not an option either because after 5 minutes you will not get to take the quiz. Tests are exactly like the study guides he gives. There a few papers that need to be written. Offers extra credit and chances to make up missed in class quizzes. Overall easy class!
This is college people! Stop complaining. He is a great professor- just do what your asked and you will be just fine!
This class was easy. His tests are pretty tough and there's a lot of information to know from the reviews but overall he's a good professor. I liked working in groups for this class. Overall, do your work, study, and DO THE EXTRA CREDIT and you should be fine.
Nice guy, but if you don't come to class you will miss out on important info, because he does not want people who don't show up to have an advantage over those who do. He gives a lot of extra credit, which can help you increase at least 2 letter grades. Tests are kinda tricky, and chapters to read are REALLY long. But overall, read and go to class.
Take him! He's the best health professor in the department. His lectures aren't boring and entertaining. Do the reviews for the tests and you'll do find. Read the book.. IT HELPS! Extra credit helps you out a lot too. Nice professor, I like taking his courses.
Great Professor. Gives good lectures and gives many examples to help you understand concepts of the course. He's very helpful and cares about his students. Do his reviews and read the book and you should have no problem making an A. AWESOME professor!
The best professor at UTSA. He is such a nice and caring professor. Never a dull moment during his lectures or reviews! Tests are easy, just look over the review and you'll be fine. Gives lots of chances for extra credit. GREAT PROFESSOR!!
Best professor ever! Wonderful guy, and great at what he does. Take him! You'll learn a lot, you have to try to FAIL his class, should be an easy A.
The subject and material were very interesting but the lectures were just boring. Mr. Clark has radical political ideas that he likes to talk about, a lot. The real problem with this class is, it is a total of 200 points. 40 come from 4 essays. 160 come from 4 exams. 20 points possible EC. Very specific test Q's, READ THE BOOK CAREFULLY.
Plenty of EC available if you attend. Read the book, study and you will be fine. Lectures are not boring.
Really enjoyed the class. The professor knew the topic well and made it interesting to learn. Exams are not too difficult if you come to class, listen and study. Lots of extra credit opportunities, highly recommended to do as they really help. Participation and attendance not mandatory but there are incentives if you go to class everyday.
The papers are not bad at all, but don't take the tests for granted, they can help or hinder your grade in the end. He's a nice guy, gives good direction and is knowledgeable about his subject. I would recommend.
Professor Clark is a nice guy. It's only homework and exams for his class. The homework may seem tedious, but it can really make or break your grade. Honestly, just study his ppts, pay attention, and read the points he tells you will be on the exam from the book and you'll be fine. Extra credit in class, apart from papers, can be offered any time!
Funny professor! You don't have to go to class, the tests are over the powerpoint slides and he uploads them online. Gives up to 20 points of extra credit!!!! Only 4 homework assignments throughout the semester, they're all essays
He gives terrible reviews. Does not test off what he lectures from his PowerPoints. Have no idea where he gets his test questions from. The lectures themselves are very boring and long. Very unorganized way to teach and shows a lot of useless comics.
This professor is absolutely amazing. They say you need a book for his class but I did not have one and I got an A. All of his test questions are from the power point. Attendance is not mandatory unless you need the extra credit and he gives you many extra credit opportunities. If you fail this course it is because you did not try.
Took 2 of his classes this semester. HTH 2513 and 4513. His classes are super easy as long as you don't miss the test review days, also turn in all the assignments on time. He gives up to 20 extra credit points so if you fail his classes it's because you really didn't study. So far best professor! :)
Professor Clark was amazing and hilarious during lecture. He does not sugar coat ANYTHING with his students. There are opportunities for extra credit throughout the semester. His tests are fairly easy, just pay attention to the notes and study them. The book was somewhat unnecessary to have, most of the test questions came from his slides.
Amazing professor. Great sense of humor and personality. Easy A if you apply yourself to the book and powerpoints.
Exams contained tricky questions and class averages were usually around a 60 or so. The lectures just go over the slides that are on blackboard already but he provides practice questions only in lecture that might be on the exam. It's not my style of lecture but the course was pretty average.
Attendance isn't necessary, but he gives out extra credit & video response papers during them so if you aren't in a GroupMe, youre going to miss a lot. Lots of extra credit opportunities & the only grades you have are the tests & the papers. Papers span from 1.5 - 4 pages & his study guides are really broad but the class is very straight forward
He is so funny! love coming to his lectures to here the creative jokes and analogies he comes up with. You do have to write like 4 paper that are 2-5 pages, and his 40 question exams are not too bad if you study his slides. with extra credit I made an A. I recommend!!!
Attendance is not mandatory, but he does show in-class videos which you will have to write a one to four page paper about. Make sure you add yourself to the class GroupMe or you will miss a lot if you don't attend class. He does have extra credit opportunities.
Most of his classes are ppt only and can easily be passed without even showing up half the time. BUT, I genuinely looked forward to attending his lectures. The courses Clark teaches are actual life skills and basic knowledge that anyone should know. Plus he throws in some silly cartoons into the slides Also: ATTEND THE REVIEW DAYS
All he does is read off the powerpoints, it's actually pretty boring. He posts the powerpoints online though. No one ever shows up to class especially since he doesn't even take attendance. Test days are packed but other than that there's like 20 people there out of 150. Tests are somewhat hard but they're okay if you actually study.
One of the worse teachers I have ever had. His explanation of assignments, questions are so vague. EVERYTHING IS SO VAGUE. He is a horrible teacher. Most teachers teach you in class relevant information. One of the questions was which sugar substitute is heat sensitive. This isn't baking class! Save yourself a headache and find any other teacher.
Currently taking for Summer II. He uses offensive language and assigns too many papers in a short period of time. Some are 2, 3, 4, 5 pages in length. Way too many for a 5 week course. I'm also taking him for HTH 3553 and he operates the same, requiring many papers in a short time span.
This Instructor reminded me of my father in law. Extremely intelligent/wise and cares about his students, but, he makes you work for your grade! Enjoyed this class and looked forward to attending each day!
I had Professor Clark for HTH 4543 and HTH 3553, and he is very knowledgable in both subjects. He had a somewhat crude sense of humor which was hilarious, but some did not appreciate it. There were about 10+ papers and 4 exams and plenty of extra credit for those who were struggling. He read off the powerpoints a lot, but still showed interest.
Pretty much an easy pass. Didn't take attendance, all the tests had reviews beforehand so it was an easy A. Gives extra credit to bump your score up. If it bothers you when the instructor is blatantly incorrect about things than it can be hard to endure lectures - just show up for reviews and tests and you wont have to deal with it.
I learned after the first test that if you read the book you can make an A and you dont have to show up to class which really helped me use that time to study for my harder classes. If you go, yes he can be crude, military guys found him funny. Lectures are boring and he reads from slides. Lots of papers but they are all pretty easy to write.
Funny and engaging professor, class is actually interesting which makes it fun. Lots of extra credit do it all! Material is pretty easy, don't really have to go to class. Would reccomend
Lots of papers, but very easy to do and we were given plenty of time to do each assignment. He is an easy grader but would give good feedback to fix any mistakes we may have had. His lectures were always interesting and very easy to follow along with.
This professor didn't give exams for this class but we had to write so many papers but you have plenty of time to complete them. He's a really easy grader, basically, as long as you have good grammar and meet the page requirement you can get a 100 on the assignments.
Lots of papers but who cares! There are NO exams. Do your work & turn it in on time. This is called learning responsibility & being an adult. I am tired of professors allowing students to get away with being lazy. Clark does NOT tolerate this. Good job, Clark! I made a 100 in his class because I did my work & on time. Easy A unless you're lazy!
Professor Clark has very precise grading criteria, and he does not tolerate any excuses. I thought this would be a fun elective, but the workload was extremely heavy because it was only a four-week course. This is a WRITING INTENSIVE COURSE. There are no exams or quizzes in this class.
One of the worst classes Ive taken. He spends the entire lecture basically giving his opinion on everything. Instructions are completely vague and work load is insane. And he has no compassion for student who are struggling with things outside of school.
Lots of writing, but does not seem to read them. looks like he just puts them on grammarly to see errors. His lesson recordings are also a bit hard to sit through but over all super easy class.
