well what cdan i say, hes not easy but if you do the work and do tons of extra credit you will get an A. You need to like to write though or dont bother taking this class. He is very opinionated and only his opinion counts. He will make you feel stupid as well, be careful

Had him back in the day for a world religion class, thought it was a'aight. My view of him changed when my little sister had him later and revealed that he was a sleazebag. Next time he has you thinking you will become a man of god, picture him hitting on your little sister, and trying to use "jedi mind tricks" to sleep with her. Like all holy men.

Any discussion of religion is bound to ignite a lot of controversy.I disagreed with Jims interpretation of the bible many times, but he definetly offers a new and interesting perspective to my biblical reading. Christian fundamentalists who believe the bible is the literal word of God beware. Everyone else will take away a new approach 2 the bible

On the papers that i actually read the material for i got 90% which is considered good, you don't see many kids getting above a 90%. He's extremely full of himself and does not like any idea but his. Just suck up to him and try to copy his ideas in your papers and you'll do fine. His class is a total dread and his feet are disgusting.

Listen to the reviews.. I had ONE class with him, pardon me HALF a class with him and I left and dropped it. Within the first hour- he disrespected my religion saying that "Christians don't know how to love or live lifes lead by love"... WAY too much homework and too evolved. This guy needs to chill, you don't teach at an IVY league school bud..

I loved this class. So many misconceptions about other religions were clarified and I was fascinated. Cook is knowledgeable and passionate, and yes sometimes a little preachy, but I've found that most teachers are. They listen to themselves talk all day, after all. Anyway, great class. Lots of work, but some flexibility to assignments which helped.

interesting class but he talks so lightly that it makes you fall asleep. there is a TON of papers to write and the only way to do good is to go to the study group. the study group will make it so you get an A in the class and it is more interesting than the actual class itself

He certainly knows his stuff, but the way he talks to the class is so dull and condescending. After awhile I dreaded going to the class because I was simply not getting anything out of the discussions. He doesn't offer much guidance on papers, but lets you re-do them..which is nice. And he really needs to wear shoes...

Only been to the class twice 1st thought he was really enlightened and easy going 2nd was the class from hell he did not follow the syllabus and even though everyone was confused he didn't care! Its a 3 hour class and to do well you have to stay an extra hour to get a decent grade if I didn't need the class I'd drop!

I took his 15 week world religions course... Tons of essays. Need to take good notes so you can just copy them in complete detail on the essays. I hated this class, but after all the stress of the papers were gone, it wasn't so bad. The whole time I thought I was failing. Just try hard and read - and try not to look at his bare feet.

I can't believe they still have this predator teaching at that school. I guess he is right about one thing: don't trust the institutions, they employ blatant sociopaths like Mr. Cook!

Interesting class to say the least. I really did enjoy it. You get 2 points per day for attending class, as well as a participation grade. If you are into philosophy, I think he is a really great teacher. He wrote this one act play that I found fascinating. We had to write a lot, but it's not hard. I would take his class again

The class was fair. Alot of reading and writing response papers. The thing I hated is when he would ask a question, and you attempt to answer he would interrupt you when he feel your opinion is worng or just not what he wanted to hear. Very rude at times. Dont look at his feet, they are gross. He walks around the class bare feet.

Just don't do it. I should have listened to all these reviews because they're dead on. I took this class because I knew almost nothing about religion and I'm not religious. I stopped participating in class after the 2nd week because he just makes students feel stupid if the answer to his vague question isn't what he wants. Just don't. Save yourself

He is awful. For one, he never wears shoes. He gives you the syllabus with all of the assignments ahead of time. However, grades very harsh. He will lecture and tell us not to take notes! He asks us to repeat what he just said or asks a question and when we don't know he tells us what is our point of being in college Ian's shoves his opinion on us
