This was a great class! He presents the difficult material so well and makes it interesting. This is not an easy class. Although, if you know the material you will do ok. Mid-term, Final and quizes. The guy is brilliant and BSC is lucky to have him. He likes his job, it shows. And make sure you spell everything correctly!! points off for that.

I love this man. He takes Shakespeare to a whole new level...and reads and quotes it with the ability of a stage actor. He is patient and will stop to explain anything to make sure you get it. Excellent content management - involves his class. Funny guy - the kind you'd like to party with-lol. I've learned tons in his class and he is a treat!

How do I count the ways in which I love this class? This professor will challenge your thinking, in a good way. He is brilliant, fun, and interactive - everything you could want in a professor. Very down to Earth and lighthearted, but takes his exams and papers very seriously..you really need to work to get a good grade.

Professor Crowley is truley the best prof. I have ever had. Everyone should take him regardless of their major. He is so helpful and completely devoted to his students. He will answer any question and keep you entertained for the hour he has you. I wish he could teach all my english classes. He is amazing.

As an English major, I wish the rest of the professors in the department had the skill of Crowley. He kept everything interesting, always gave us a new insight even on old material, and made sure we had the chance to do well on his quizzes and exams if we just listened to his fascinating lectures, which was easy. Eng Ren Lit, tough class, but Crowley loves the subject and will try to get you just as interested. Do the work, show your interest, and study, you'll do okay. It is a lot of material to study though He goes really fast during lecture and he uses a lot of pronouns so sometimes you don't know exactly who he is talking about.

i learned more during a summer course with this one man than i think i've ever learned from any other teacher- whether it was a whole year or a semester. he is absolutely phenominal, and completely understanding. he made me wish i'd gone to bsc rather than my own university.

ok, I just had to say this incase someone reads all the positives and takes the class thinking they will love him. yes I think he is a nice guy and smart and you do learn BUT he is really picky, and thinks random english things should be known by everyone? if you aren't in the mood to learn insignificant things about english, i'd stay away.

Dr.Crowley is a challenging, but very fair professor. He prepares very well and puts a lot of time into his lectures and he looks for that to be reciprocated back through class discussion and feedback. Not only does he have a great sense of humor but he also cares very deeply about all of his students.

CROWLEY IS THE MAN. He's hilarious, he's caring, he loves e-mailing (and they are usually funny e-mails), and he's really understanding. And although he may sound easy, he's not. But don't be afraid! He just expects the best out of his students and he's there to help you along the way. He answers e-mails fast and he's always available for help.

I think every English major should take his Shakespeare class. He's so funny and really makes the plays understandable!! Mid-term was kind of terrifying, but the final has a take-home essay. Attendance isn't mandatory but recommended, never any homework. He e-mails study guides for every play. Definitely take him!!

Crowley's classes are hard- but so worth it. It's not a cake walk, but you will leave every single class having learned something. He cares about his students, has lots of funny stories and keeps you entertained. Don't be scared off by his first day speech about absolute manditory attendance and hard grading- he's more flexible than he may seem

I have taken several of Crowley's classes and I enjoy each more and more each time. He has high expectations, but he makes all of the hard work he requires worth it. I have not received lower than an A in all of his classes, and have never been so proud of my own work in my lifetime. He makes each class enjoyable and fun. BEST professor ever!

Hands-down the greatest teacher BSU has to offer. Puts on a tough persona for the classroom, but he's actually very understanding, fair, and helpful. Just make sure to actually do the readings and pay attention to what he has to say (it's almost impossible not to) and you'll do well. Could not recommend Crowley any higher.

I love this guy! Animated and brings the class to some great higher understanding, you actually learn in his class! He does expect you to do the readings, and will call on people randomly with questions, so you need to be prepared. He is a very fair and compassionate person, and as long as you pay attention and do the work, you'll do well.

Although he is arrogant and tries to make you think he is more important than he is, he is still one of the best professors at BSU. English majors should take at least one class with one.

He holds your interest and is willing to help anyone. Make sure to actually read the texts because he knows when you don't! Attendance mandatory, but he listens to genuine excuses.

The hardest class I ever had was his survey of British Lit class. The texts we read were so difficult to understand on your own. But, go to his lectures and they will all be crystal clear. He seems intimidating but you grow to love his teaching methods and he is funny. Graded based only on the midterm and final exams which are difficult exams :/

Fact - Robin Williams' performance in "Dead Poets Society" was heavily inspired by Dr. Crowley. The fact that this man is a part of BSU's faculty is an absolute blessing. If you want to learn, take his classes. You won't regret it.

His lectures are amazing. He plans his classes to perfectly fit into their time slot. Rarely, if ever, went over class time. Rarely went under class time, but will release class early.

Crowley is so incredible that I almost regret taking him my first semester; I don't think any other professors can really compare to him. I have never had a professor like Dr. Crowley. He pushes you harder than any other professor, but you become a better English Major from it. British lit isn't always the most interesting subject, but his teaching of it gives you an intellectual respect for it. This class is challenging, but it is passable and it is worth the struggle.

My only regret when it comes to taking a class with Crowley is that I waited until my senior year to do so. He is by far my favorite professor at BSU. He expects a lot from his students but he also cares about them a great deal. His lectures are extremely entertaining. I hate Shakespeare but I loved his class. Take him. It's worth the work.

I usually cringe at old fashioned teaching styles, but Crowley is the only professor/ teacher I have ever had who does it right. Yes he is intimidating at times, yes the readings are can be boring and hard to read, and yes his exams are hard, but you learn so much from his lectures. Every English major should take him at least once.

Crowley is a true gem of the teaching world. Sure, he is "old-fashioned" but he is actually extremely willing to help you succeed. He's not as scary as he tries to appear: he was very understanding of absences, and gives you a step-by-step rubric on how he wants your final paper to be structured. Knows his stuff, wants you to love it too.

Probably the best professor I've had here at BSU! He thoroughly goes over the basics of writing which in the end made me a better writer. He's passionate about what he teaches & pushes his students. Absolutely hilarious & I wish I could take him again. He's so good I considered changing my 2nd major to English because he made me love writing again!

Dr Crowley is a great English professor. If youre lucky enough to get him for ENG102 its a great class and he wants everyone to succeed. Take him you wont regret it.

Amazing, passionate professor. Old school lecturer but with personality. Gets distracted but is so genuine and caring. His teaching style suits the material well. I took him for Histories and Comedies of Shakespeare, great course. 1 paper, and you can pick your deadline. 2 exams, that are not too hard as long as you take notes on passages in class.

Crowley is a legend and rightly so. Teaching is an art he has perfected. He's strict on attendance, but his expectations are fair and communicated clearly. He loves roasting students (in good taste) and his lectures are AHHmazing. I took him for Brit Lit 1800's. 1 midterm.1 final.1 paper. Take good notes. Review them daily and you'll be fine.

He spins the material that I usually find difficult in a hilarious and easy to follow way. Every day I wanted to go to class to hear him speak. Take him!

Crowley gets a lot of hype, but it is deserved. Say what you will about him--he is that rare perfect blend of expertise in both the content and the teaching of that content. He is a consummate teacher. It is impossible to be bored in his class. My advice is don't be intimidated by him; he loves his students, and his office hours can be a fun time!

Dr. Crowley's class contains a midterm, a final, and an essay. There is no written homework given. Study questions are given for each text you read to help you understand the material. Brit Lit contains an abundance of at home reading and taking good notes is the key to success. Dr. Crowley is always willing to help those who seek it.

One of the best english teachers I've had. NO homework. Literally just do the readings (I did sparknotes tbh), show up, take notes, and you'll pass. Midterm was easy (he prepares u), then the final and a take home final paper. Pay attention and don't skip without emailing him in advance. So funny and caring. You wont regret taking him.

He's a great professor and very knowledgeable, and the class itself is very entertaining and you will learn a lot! That being said, he is an incredibly hard grader, with very specific rules on how something should be written that not everyone is able to meet.

Amazing lectures is an understatement. He incorporates theatrics and real life into his lectures so they're unforgettable. He is VERY strict on attendance, but you won't want to miss class anyway! There are only 3 papers so if you do poorly you might get screwed, but your writing will quickly improve if you listen to his kind and detailed feedback.

This class kept me on my toes in the best way possible. One of my favorite classes of the semester. The class was on the earlier side, but always enjoyed going because it was the best experience. If you can take a class with Crowley, DO IT!! I had the time of my life. Learned so much on the subject. Lots of work, but it's worth it for this class.

Crowley is clearly an expert in his field. Readings are extremely difficult, but he explains them in class in a way that makes them understandable and interesting. He is an expert lecturer. I've heard he can be a tough grader, although I've done well on all his essays. My one complaint is he does sort of shame students for not knowing answers to Qs

Take him! If you're debating whether to take him or not, do it. He is genuinely one of the coolest people I have ever met. All he asks is that you show up to class, do the readings and participate when he needs someone. We read seven plays and took three exams, multiple choice and short answers. Just take him, you'll thank yourself later.
