A truly terrible professor. He doesn't explain anything, his TAs are useless, and all he does is scribble on the board. He makes his tests far more difficult than is necessary and nearly all of students struggle terribly in his class. Avoid him at all costs.

Just awful! Vague and ambiguous in his lectures and then makes student come to him for answers on the discussion board - and then they thank him!!! As comical as thanking the excutioner for a pillow before he drops the blade. He teaches like the math is reality and the "real world" is a model of the math. I guess he's better at math than economics.

Dr. Dewey is an excellent professor, perhaps he is a bit too smart. He is always available on the discussion board and responds quickly. He expects the class to be conceptual although he doesn't do a very thorough job at teaching concepts. He assumes that we are able to derive the concepts. Class is hard, no doubt. But if you put down the bong for a couple of days and go to the library and study hardcore than youll do fine. MAKE SURE YOU DO ALL THE PROBLEM SETS AND DO SOME OF THE DISCUSSION BOARDS THEY SAVE YOU IN THE END. If you are trying to major in finance and need a B in this class, good luck! You will not have a life!

Hard Class for sure, TZ and old exams are all you need for an A. Do the problem sets and a couple discussion boards also. Study for three days out and you should be fine.

Volume of material for each exam is overwhelming, complex, & time consuming. Lecture is worthless-you will be on your own. Do yourself a favor & hire a tutor. Gatortutoring.com has an online format with video explanations of the problem sets-very helpful! This class is very difficult and will require a LOT of study time and discipline. Good Luck!

Dewey is the man! His course is difficult. You will need to spend time understanding concepts and the math will come easily once you do. Don't try to memorize old questions. His tests are hard, but curves are usually generous (E1 and E2 had 20 point curves). I got a really high A but it took a lot of time and effort and I like econ... Good Luck!

This is THE HARDEST class I have taken at UF. It requires a lot of study time, and still the material was almost impossible to understand. I guessed on almost every exam. However, Dr. Dewey is very active on the discussion board and responses are quick. Don't study old exams, they are nothing like what's on his new ones. Good luck....

This class will become the bane of your existence... prepare to spend hours on problem sets, DBs, and studying concepts. You will do fine as long as you keep up -- Dewey gives gigantic curves and the exams you do well on are weighted in your favor. TZ saves a lot of time and confusion, but don't entirely depend on it if you want an A. Work hard!

This class is hard. BUT if you do ALL of the discussion boards and problem sets, your final grade in the class gets raised by at least 5 points. People who didn't do them wished they had because they made such a BIG difference! TZ helped for the problem sets, but not the exams.

This teacher is difficult. You will have to put in your time. Use the notes that he produces as an outline to his textbook. This is his best tool. Also, and I repeat also, do the quizzes. If I would have done all the quizzes I would have gotten an A in the class. Also do the extra credit. Just study hard from the beginning and you will have an A.

This class is so terrible and worthless. It's so much harder than any other class undergrad business majors need to take, while providing worthless information that none of us will waste time and energy using in our professional careers. GET RID OF THIS CLASS; IT IS A HUGE WASTE OF ENERGY.

This class is really hard but if you watch the lectures and do all of the problem sets, a good grade is more than possible. The grading scale is flexible and allows you to mess up on the first exam. If you spend time on the class and read the book, you can easily get above a B.

I felt this class was overly hard for what it taught. Some of the equations are very detailed and specific. If you watch every lecture, study the book hard, and have a very good memory, you will ace this class. Definitely a tough class to pass while slacking. However, the grading system is fair and flexible.

Well this class was extremely difficult! There is no way you can dedicate 30 hours of studying to this class alone if you actually have a job and other classes to attend to! You can learn a lot if you have unlimited time to study all of the possible ways he can reiterate a question! Overall I like a challenge in a class, but I feel like the analyti

I thought i really understood everything there was to know about the concepts and math, but on the tests he made the questions way more difficult in terms of wording than they needed to be. It seemed as if his goal was more to confuse us on what we were being asked than to test our knowledge of the subject and course material.

Where do I start? Horrible class, horrible teacher. I had to take it twice seeing that I'm a finance major and I messed up the first time. Class is extremely difficult, it lives up to legend. I spent hours studying, doing the problem sets, etc and ended up with a B+. TZ sucks, the new tutor is garbage, get something else.

I took Dewey's class in fall 2009. He breaks down the concepts well, and doesn't screw around during lecture. I got an A with medium effort, and I was not economically minded going into the course. To get an A you really have to understand the material - it's not rote memorization like finance. Great professor, hard class.

Dewey is a nice guy, but there is so much material to know and the tests seem impossible. Luckily he weights things so it is doable, but with a lot of effot: Lectures didnt help me, but DO ALL problem sets, stay on top of material--read the text he has available--this is a lifesaver!

The worst instructor ever. DONT TAKE HIM. This class lowers you GPA and it makes you crazy. HE doesn?t explain stuff right, cant deliver well and he is extremely unorganized. Doesn? tell you the deadlines. EXAMS ARE NOT MC. Not the quality you expect from a UF professor. AND A NEW COURSE IS REPLACEING this class in fall.

i loved it. the material is difficult, but invaluable (useless? seriously folks?). what you are really learning is how to think analytically and creatively about real business decisions. required about 10-15 hours/week of studying for an A. dewey is a badass, and his passion for teaching is obvious. i will miss this class.

this course consumed 30+ hours a week trying to figure out the problems. unfortunately, dewey throw a lot of calc when trying to explain problems. I am a business major, so trying to recall formulas and understand econ principles at the same time blew my mind. I dropped after getting a 51 on the first test.

Dewey is a great teacher. I found his class to be one of the top 3 most useful business classes I have taken. The material is hard but manageable, and the book is very helpful(pdf=ctrl+f). Generally, the homework problems can be solved using book or someone asking TA on disc. board. Study the old SA exam questions and you will be golden.
