being younger gives him a fresher perspective than other professors i've had for similar classes. he IS critical, but not in an annoying way (like Mitchner). your opinions and those of your other classmates DO matter, which is incredibly important.

He was a great teacher, but I did hate some of the things we had to do in class. We had to act out a skit, which seemed pointless. We also had to write a poem and read it aloud. He could have spared us the embarrassment.

This course challenged me to be my own worst critic. I like how he spiced up the course material by allowing students to take concepts illustrated in the text and present them through their eyes.

Hamlet, Animal Farm, Baudelaire, and Grendel. The books were not great, but he loved hearing opinions and showed movies of the books. The class was easy and he was extremely lenient. The class was fun, despite hating the books. But they weren't too difficult to read/decipher. Good summer class.

James is frickin' awesome! His ways to decribe the concept of writing are hilarious and understandable. He values everyone's opinion and makes class fun. I actually didn't mind getting up eairly for his class.

He's a poet and he's outside the box but he's the smartest Prof I've ever had. Really cares about students and treats them like people. He is funny, yeah I laughed a lot, but even his jokes are smart and make you think. Very, very good Prof, I'd recommend him to anyone that needs this class. Jamie is a great teacher for those that have little interest in literature. He makes all of the books palatable and the assignments are straightforward. Do not take Jaime if you are truly interested in finding new meaning in classic books, because what he teaches is old hat. Bad teacher for English majors, but good for all others.

Poetry-Creative Writing: Great teacher. Teaches in workshop form for students own poetry. Not a lot of learning poetry appreciation, but great way to kickstart your writing and get good feedback. Many take the class 2 or 3 times just for the workshops.

I really liked his class, and I got a good grade...but if you're shy it might be scary because he has you write poetry and read it to the class. Other than that, the class wasn't hard, and he made it interesting.

Jamey Dunham is AMAZING. I love his classes. I'm taking two from him this quarter (Great Books and Creative Writing Poetry) and they're both really fun. He grades pretty fairly and as long as you do the work, you'll have no problems with him. He's also really funny and witty, and likes to joke around. HIGHLY recommended.

He is a lot of fun and keeps this class very interesting. He's always in a good mood and making the class laugh. I really enjoyed lit for the first time. Just make sure you read the books and write the essays and you will get an A!

Does anyone know Jamie's email address? I had him as a professor at Miami University back in 2001/2002. Kept in touch with him for a while, but fell out of touch and lost his email. Great professor. Played an in strumental role in my education (and probably also my growth as a person). Does he have a hotmail address still or a Sinclair address?

I thought Jamie was rather unprofessional at times and not very professor like, but that's what some people like. Big on class discussion and participation. The work load was fair and so was his grading. He is very laid back and sometimes funny. However, Jamie can turn a college level class into a high school maturity level in a heart beat.

This was one of my first classes after being out of school for ten years. I deff thought it was easy going. Too much sports convo though. He is a caring guy and keeps the lecture at an interesting and understandable level. Plus, add hair and kind-of a Bradley Cooper look-a-like. Good teacher.

This is one of the easiest classes you can take. He makes taking english fun. If your looking for a class thats straight english this is not the class to take. He gets off subject and talks about random stuff like sports. As long as you write your 4 papers youll be fine and make sure you come to class he docks points if you miss to much

Being shy should not deter you from taking Dunham's class; although he has an up-close-and-personal demeanor and regularly picks on students, it's good to have at least one lighthearted class to instill some humor in you. As a rule of measure, I'm pretty serious and even I liked his class. Also, there is no reason you shouldn't get an A.

Jamie is by far the best college teacher I have had yet. Coming into college I hated english class but he makes the class fun with a good sense of humor. There is no reason anybody should get anything lower then an A in his class. Anybody should get along wit him although he constantly picked on me for being short and a Yankee fan

Jamey is definitely the most laid back professor I've ever had. Most of the class was spend having open discussions about the assigned reading. I would recommend him for all literature and poetry classes.

Good feedback sessions: friendly, polite, encouraging, down to earth. Whether you like his poetry or not, he's won at least one actually quite prestigious award, and you probably haven't, so you might as well take some of his advice. He's very laidback. Who cares if he talks about religion, what does that have to do with anything.

Great professor. He's easy to understand, approach and honestly I thought he was a student when he first came in the class. He was patient, joked around and has a good sense of humor. He helped boost my confidence in my writing abilities, and was wonderful.

Jamie is a nice guy but he can be pretty condescending. He likes to see the worst in people and smiles about it. In class he said people are selfish for not giving money to a bum on the streets. When I informed him that I don't give money to them, he questioned my generosity. Afterwards I felt like he talked down to me. I'll never take him again.

Jamey is a great guy. When I found out I had to take English I definitely wasn't looking forward to it but my friend recommended him and I'm glad she did! For such an early class, I looked forward to going there every day. Yes, he may tease you in class like he did me, but it's all in good fun! Not to mention he's mighty attractive.

Jamie was my first college instructor so i was very nervous and didn't know what to expect. Soon as i walked through the door he made a tease at me. But he makes Jokes not Insults. He definitely made class exciting. Challenged you with discussions. Clear expectations on papers but gave plenty of room for creativity. Thoroughly enjoyed him.

Jamie was awesome! He was very easy to understand & if a student was unsure about what to write, or the prompt he gave us, he would always take the time to explain exactly what he wanted. There was a lot of peer & instructor review before any assignment was handed in, which made it near impossible to fail a paper because you had tons of feedback.

Took 3 classes with this professor. He is by far the best professor at Sinclair. Very humble and helpful. He writes surrealist poetry, so get ready for some bizarre classes you will never forget. Absolutely amazing and rewarding professor.

Ok, so here is the truth. This guy really does care about his students. I've seen it, even the ones who are jerks to him. He is crazy smart in that weird kind of way and probably the funniest person I've ever met in real life. His jokes could offend some people, I guess, but so could anything. He is seriously the best teacher I've ever had.

This class was a pretty basic English course. If you show up and follow directions on your papers, you should be good. He gives great feedback of what you did struggled on or why you lost points but he also gave feedback of what he enjoyed about your paper. Great teacher.

Jamey is an amazing guy and has a great sense of humor. He will sit down with you one on one if you're having any problems with the 5 essays that are assigned throughout the course. He grades fairly and will discuss the strengths and weaknesses within your paper. I would definitely take this dude again for more writing classes to come.

Jamey gives great feedback when he returns your papers. He was always helpful and his class is easy if you put in the effort and do the work. I would say the only issue I had was getting my graded assignments back on time, but in his defense it was an accelerated course. If you can deal with that, then I would highly recommend him.

Incredibly talented poet with the ability to take your work and tell you things you didn't even know about it. His class was enjoyable to go to, not even in a "school" way, just enjoyable to go to. I'll certainly miss him and will remember him for a long time to come as possibly my favorite professor of all time.

I've always struggled with my English classes since elementary school and this is the first class I feel like I've ever been given a fair shot in. One of the best teachers/professors I've had my entire school career.

One of the best professors you'll ever have! I was skeptical of him at first, but man does he offer so much help. Great personality, clear instructions, fun assignments, and an easy A (if you try and/or ask for help when needed. Seriously, he'll help you with whatever you need help with). Nice hat, too.

I took Eng1101 with Prof. Dunham, and it was a nice and easy experience. He responded to me quickly (I took this online) when I needed a further explanation of some prompts.

Professor Dunham is a great professor and although I took this course online, I can tell he truly cares about the well being of his students. He was always respectful and helpful whenever I had issues with my assignments and always made sure to provide great feedback. Will definitely take more English classes with him!

Professor Dunham was so wonderful! The class isnt too hard but it is a lot of writing (of course, since it is English) He gives appropriate timelines and is always available via email for help. His instructions on eLearn are very clear so you know exactly what he is looking for. Easy A when you do what he asks! Definitely recommend!

Took Poetry Writing with him and was apprehensive initially, but he made the online class a blast to be a part of. He was interactive and engaging despite our means of only being able to communicate online. His feedback was helpful & I feel like I became a better writer/poet by the end of the term. Wish he taught Fiction Writing as well!

I had Professor Dunham during my first semester at Sinclair Community College. I couldn't have asked for a better professor. Professor Dunham is a down-to-earth guy, very easy to talk to, very understanding about grades, and will even push due dates back so that you have the time to write a successful paper. I would love to take this class again.

Jamey was my favorite professor. My writing ability improved exceedingly after completing his course. He believed in me when I wanted to give up. Jamey is truly dedicated to his work as well as the success of his students.

This being an online class, I appreciated that he would consistently reply to any questions within 24 hours... Make sure you stay ahead of the deadlines and you'll do great.

About halfway through the semester my kids and I got covid. I'm a single mom so I fell behind in my classes. I emailed Prof. Dunham to tell him I needed to drop the class. Not only did he respond right away, but he convinced me to stay! He said he would allow me extra time and I finished with an A! He truly cares about his students, great guy!

I took his online class. He is super helpful, and the feedback he gave was really good. There was an essay every other week, but it was definitely achievable and manageable. When I emailed him, he responded quickly, and he even gave me resources to help with some personal things. He actually cares about his students. Take this class!

Taking him in person will be significantly easier and better, but even online he's fantastic. He truly cares and wants you to do your best. Is willing to extend deadlines and help you out as much as you need. Inspiring and easygoing. Great person, great teacher.

AMAZING PROFESSOR!!! I have had difficulty submitting my assignments on time because I was going through financial issues. Professor Dunham understood my situation. Even though there were 2 weeks left he still graded ALL of my assignments and got a 'B'!!!

He was a great professor and he had a late work policy that wasn't terrible. However in Creative Writing as a class the assignments we're annoying. We had to do zoom calls in groups.

I loved this professor! He gives great feedback and responds to emails super fast. As long as you give good, thoughtful, insight to all of the prompts, you'll do just fine. Every other week you write a poem, and the other week you analyze your peers' poems, plus a weekly exercise that isn't super hard. Midterm and final were fine. Amazing overall!

Professor Dunham is a great teacher who really cares about his students. His class has a lot of writing, but his clear instructions and helpful feedback make it manageable. unstuck ai was a lifesaver for prep! Definitely take this class if you can.

Light on grading. gives 100% to papers that go above and beyond. Those papers that meet the minimum requirements will only get a 90-95. All main papers are only 750-1000 words, and the last paper is only 1000-1500. However, if you are taking the class online, you must reach out before he will talk to you (if you want more feedback or help).
