He is interesting and caring, but a little new to this; sometimes he has trouble expressing/explaining concepts, but he has become increasingly polished over the term. HELPFUL HINT: Don't take notes from the Powerpoint, take them from what he is saying instead, and your notes will be WAY better.

Great!!! I'm in 4th yr, I learned more from this class than any other class I've taken. I had fun too, though the class was hard. 2 other things not said here - how often can you build a clock as an asignment and get over 100% on it? And the course goes from ancient Egypt to cold fusion and global warming - so of course its complicated. Duh!

I'm taking Jamie's STS 2010 this fall, and he's the best professor I've had. He responds to emails quickly, cares about his students, and makes open-book tests manageable with a cheat sheet. He's a fair marker with helpful feedback. Attendance matters, but he's approachable and dedicated, making it a great class to boost your GPA / GEN ED requirement

James Elwick has been the best professor I have had at York. He is engaging with his students, he actually helps with questions, and he's always finding ways to give students extra credit. The lectures and his teaching style is interesting + aligns with the course goals. Gives great assignments and the tests are exactly what is studied. 10/10 prof

I am an international student, and pursuing my studies would have been considerably challenging without the guidance of such a compassionate professor. Should you encounter any difficulties, I encourage you to actively communicate with the professor, as he is always willing to provide assistance.

heavy readings....one cheaing sheet is allowed but that means the question asks for detailed and specific answers....I'd rather prefer studying tax. if you're not into scientific history this course isn't for you.
