took this class in the summer. very interesting and informative. great handouts and made the class lively
Good class! Teacher makes it a blast to learn and also had him for Mythology! EASY tests and papers arent that hard to do! GO FARROW!!
great prof! very helpful and interesting!
awesome class,he has a cool manchester accent so hes fun to listen to.quizzes and tests are incredibly easy,"big paper" was a breeze to write, lots of lecture, sometimes gets confusing on when to take notes and when he just talking about random things but def a fun class to take.
Take in the summer it is a TOTAL JOKE. The paper is not hard to write on the Odyssey.Extra-credit paper was easier to do.Tests just study basic names. Last test was long, but didn't even try and still passed with a B.Movies are soo bad he leaves the class, can't follow lectures. Didn't learn a thing
the dude went to OXFORD, for pete's sake, he's smarter than anyone else at that college, you will learn a lot and be entertained by his lectures too! Best teacher I've had there, take him soon, before he dies or retires!
Prof. Farrow is a total babe!! He is so smart and will relay so much knowledge throughout the class. I had him for Intro to the Arts and Mythology and very much enjoyed both classes. An excellent teacher!!! I would definitely recommend any of his classes, even just for fun.
This guy is awesome. i would strongly suggest him. i learned more from him then any other teacher i've had at MCC.
Farrow's awesome. Nicest, funniest British guy you'll ever meet. His tests are easy but he's a little scatter-brained. He is easy to engage in topics of your own interests too. I'd recommend him to anybody (best if you understand and enjoy dry British humor). Go Farrow!
This guy came to class half hour late EVERY time. He loves Monty Python and all that English comedy. He LOVES NORSE and Celtic myths. How did he end up teaching at 12 mile high????? He is very fair and gives leeway and warning to all students. He is messy as hell though. Always forgetting stuff.
This teacher is horrible. The class is easy, but lectures and movies are sooooooo boring. Seven people showed up for class on a regular basis. The other Twenty five only showed up for test day. I did not learn one thing.
great teacher. the lectures are some what hard to follow, but if you review the materials in the books, you'll do fine.
Great teacher. Very funny, artsy and clever. You will learn in this class if you go. Also has a lot of repeat questions throughout the class to make the tests easier and throws out a lot of extra points. A definite.
He is one of the best professors I've ever had the pleasure of learning from, and he knew Rowan Atkinson in college to boot! If you are a Black Adder fan, in the episode where Edmund sends a man named Farrow to be executed, it is a jab at Prof. Farrow. He's just awesome!
Brilliant guy, he part teaches part time at MCC and part time at Wayne State. VERY good knowledge of subject matter, but you can't sit in the back and expect to coast through. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN

very good teacher, very fun, british and has a lot of jokes
He is a very nice teacher, funny ,not too hard, you will love his class. His tests are easy if you study little bit. I recommand this tacher.
he explains the material of the book very well but is boring. the one thing i didn't care for was that he came across very unoranized and didn't explain the projects early enough. he waited a week before they were due to explain them. i didn't care for that class at all. zzzzzzz
Awesome teacher!!! Very Knowledgeable and funny. Test are not the easiest if you do not study. It is not a blow off class. You can and will learn a lot.
By far the smartest teacher at 12 mile high! Not a blow off class but you do learn a lot from Farrow! He is definetely someone you would look up to intellectually. Funny - kind - you won't regret taking his class!
Fun class
Very boring class unless you are actually interested in mythology. His lectures often almost always veered off onto irrelevent stuff but the tests are really easy. He just repeats everything.
I didn't want to take Mythology at all, and when I first got to class I hated it... it was too hard, but as the class went on, I found Farrow to be quite funny and extremely intelligent. I had NO interest in mythology, but now I am thinking of taking the class again just to gain better insight of the topic. I recommended him for serious students.
He was an easy professor and the class wasn't too bad. The tests are recycled questions and come from the notes. He's sometimes late to class, but overall, I liked him alot.
A little scatter brained and unorganized, but overall a really good teacher. The class is really enjoyable!
Interesting, great stories wish he had more myth classes
Lectures are not always helpful but interesting nonetheless. Just know the gods and a few of the handouts he tells you to know. I did not bother studying for the exams because he usually reviewed right before the exam. Just study for about 20 minutes a test and you are guaranteed an A.
he is a very funny absent-minded old man. he loses things often and his lectures are long and the movies are boring. he lets you bring food and drinks to class while he's teaching. if you can keep your eyes open it is the easiest A you will ever get. if you are interested in mythology definately take it because he does know his stuff!
So as I get to his class I become so sleeply and bore in there and he as the class done work and never grade it, So over all you can learn a lot if he stay on the subject.
Great teacher. Very knowledgable but his class is beyond boring.
Very unorganized, several essays were misplaced and he was unable to grade / return. On several tests he placed information that was not discussed in our class! I think he had to many classes and couldn't remember what he discussed in which one. He has an abundance of information to share, but is so unorganized that we are the ones who suffered!
Very boring class, but its also very easy. Every test is similar to the last one. His lectures and movies are pointless, but he can be funny sometimes. Although hes forgetful, he's a really nice guy and he makes it really easy to pass with an A.
love this guy, seems he really loves what he teaches. the tests are on the notes you take not just the book. the last tests have old questions on them so you may see the same ones over and over at times.
MAN THIS CLASS WAS AMAZINGLY BORING....I TOOK THE CLASS TO LEARN ABOUT MYTHOLOGY NOT LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD AND HEAR HIM TALK ABOUT HIS LIFE IN ENGLAND
I liked him you can tell he is teaching what he loves! The problem with him her can be boring! I left class before it was done because we watched too many videos!
He came 15 mins late every class. we watched alot of boring movies. The tests were just the previous test with additional questions. I missed alot of classes (he doesn't take attendance) and it wasn't hard for me to follow along. His lectures are mostly boring, yet he tells a few good stories.
Late everytime for class, at least 15-20 mintues. Did not learn anything at all either, very unorganzied....
Def. a class where attendence is MANDATORY. You must pay attention in order to know whats going on for the test.
very easy professor just liston to lectures and study old exmas and ull get an A
I loved this prof! The class was interesting and overall easy..as long as you knew your study sheets, which he supplied. The information you needed for tests was repeated often in class. Anything you needed to know for tests was in the study sheets or written on the board. Highly recommend this prof.
Mr. Farrow is a wonderful teacher. He knows lots of things. I really like him.
Took him for Mythology and then decided i just had to take him again so i took him for humanities 1210. I learned tons but it was mostly about life in general and not just about the class. Loved all his brittish jokes which i was thankful to get because others had no clue (whats a cornish pastie) wish i could find another excuse to take him :)
he is the best
Definitely rambles a bit too much, but is pretty easygoing on tests. If an "eraser demon" pops up, he'll give you the point. He recycles questions, and he counts some questions as bonuses. Great accent, knowledgeable, but sometimes boring. This guy can talk FOREVER about the most frivolous things. Not an easy A, but not too hard either.
The class was boring, he was always late to class, and god forbid you disagree with something he says. The class was pretty easy, but I dreaded going everyday.
AWSOME TEACHER!! I loved his class and enjoyed going it every time. His jokes are funny and really wants to you learn. He gives a practice test in the beginning of the semester so you know what his tests are like, and the first test is almost identical (yes, i mean almost the same questions!!) He is such a great teacher, TAKE HIM!!!!
This man is the most boring professor I have ever had in my life and his voice is very monotone so it makes it hard to stay awake. I feel bad saying that cause he is a nice guy and its not his fault that mythology is lame. But... the class is very very easy. You would have to be a complete idiot to fail.
He is extremely knowlegable about the subject matter, but can be a little boring. He appears to be a nice man and sometimes will lighten class up with a joke. Tests are very easy and the practice test is very helpful
This teacher is so boring it's unbelievable!! He goes off subject 99.9% of the time. The good thing is his tests are easy, he repeats them on each test. Take him for an easy A!
He is a really funny teacher to listen to. You HAVE to come to each class because he will spring things on those who don't to prove a point. Also, the thing that is most irritating about him is the amount of time it takes for him to give back tests. Other than that I recommend taking this professor.
He is such an intelligent professor. I have really enjoyed this class! Great stories and life experiences. My favorite!
he usually let us out half an hour early, or 10 minutes early at the latest. The tests are so easy, it's pretty much the same test everytime with a few new questions. It's definitely an easy a, and even though it can get pretty boring i suggest going every class. Overall I loved him, but wasn't a fan of the class.
Jeez, this is the most useless prof ever!!! I haven't had a practice test since 3rd grade! I'm used to a higher level of learning. Jerk made us buy his book, newest edition. The old one was just fine. Just a new cover.
The most boring professor ever. Hard to figure out what is going on because so boring and talks off the subject manner. Will never take this professor again.
Very boring. He takes a long time to do anything. He never lets the class out early. Tests are mostly material from the test before and pretty easy.
He is a nice and easy teacher but boring. we took 5 tests and one of them was a research paper. His tests easy..we also watched movies..we used the book but not often...he help and answer questions...he is very nice..it's a good class the only thing it's boring.. overall an easy class I end up getting A
I did not think he was boring at all, because I listened. I suppose if you werent listening then he might be boring, of course. He was professional and fair. I wasnt interested in the subject but after taking this class I have a new interest in Mythology. He knows the subject very well and tries to help the students to learn about it.Be on time
He is a very intelligent teacher on subject of Greek myth.
Possibly one of the most fascinating people I have ever met! If you are looking for an easy grade and have no interest in the material then please drop the class and do not waste this man?s time! He is strict, but very fair and very helpful. He is a well educated individual with a very interesting and broad range of knowledge. Two thumbs up!
One of the best teachers at Macomb. Farrow is british and has a dry sense of humor, but he is funny, just pay attention, come to class and study. Greek mythology is fascinating. You will learn a lot in this class. Highly recommended!
One of the best teachers I have ever had. His class is composed of 4 tests and 1 essay. His tests are multiple choice word for word what he gives you in notes and handouts. He recycles the questions from previous tests word for word. The class as long as you study for the tests is an easy A. I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU TAKE HIM YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!!
Probably one of the worst professors I've ever had. I am a 4.0 student and I had trouble in his class. He lectured about nothing that was on the test. If we didn't know something he pretty much implied we were all idiots. Not a great class. IT was required for me unfortunately. I did get an A however, only because I cared and put the work in
always talked about things that did not make any since. he gave assignments at the last minute. not helpful did not provide any positive feedback. class was so long and never gave a break.
Mr. Farrow knows what he's talking about. He's British, and he repeats himself a lot. Doesn't care about attendance, and thinks he's hilarious! He's actually a pretty cool guy. Lots of reading though. I didn't do any reading and I still passed the class. The tests are fairly easy but after the 2nd one. Start going to class.
Ok he is not the easiest teacher. So if you are looking for an easy pass, try a diffrent class. He is passionate about this, and expects you to be too. He is very offended if people don't take his class seriously. But his class is easy, if you are respctful, and put in the work. I learned alot, and enjoyed every week. It gave me a love of the arts.
Hes a cool teacher. The class is realatively simple. I passed the class and didnt read any of the reading assignments.
Great teacher, funny, very passionate about this subject. Tons of photos on what he is talking about.
Really interesting lectures; he is extremely knowledgeable on the subject of Mythology. Often tells stories not related to class -- but they are interesting so it's a plus. Tests are very easy; after first test 90% of questions repeat and he lets you keep the test so studying is a breeze. Have to write one 2-3 page paper, but he gives you topics.
He is a very good teacher. I enjoyed his mythology class. I would recommend him to anyone looking to take a humanities class.
Very good teacher. he is very passionate about mythology. his instructions in the beginning were not clear. he said we have to write one paper for the class. he said that "Quality matters not quantity". but we found out later that we had to write 12 to 15 page research paper later. other than that easy class.
The way the class is structured is fairly simple 3-4 exams 3 projects and an extra one which is optional for extra credit.Overall fairly easy grading. The hardest part of the class was figuring out what to study for the exam. There is alot of information to memorize and youl probably have to study a good 2 hours per night if u want to pass with a 4.0
British accent made a cultures prerequisite interesting and his vast array of knowledge made course all the more pleasurable. His test are fair and come straight from his notes and the textbook. 3 essays of your visits to museum, theatrical play, and unique architecture.
This class is really boring.it is impossible to stay awake in this class.this class is only for people who read too much.
He is an unorganized professor.most of the students dropped his class because his lectures were boring and useless.if you are in this class trust me you will drop this class. Not going to take him again for anything.
Not a bad teacher at all, very interesting, but half of the stuff he teaches is not mythology at all. would not be to bad if it was not for the insanely long paper that you have to write. he wants 4-5000 words.. and tests are somewhat hard but you can study from old tests.
He's easy and his tests are easy too but he's mean to some students
I wonder when was the last time someone from the college reviewed his class. He's hard to follow & I learned little. Rude to students. Disappointed in his mythology class, The Odyssey is read on your own & he barely discusses it. Had to buy $200 book for class which we barely used and he just happens to be the author of. Conflict of interest?
He is a good professor, but he is old and he sure does act it. His tests are very easy and so are his classes. Occasionally he asks a question that nobody can answer and he will ask it several times before actually telling the answer.
Good guy, can be funny at times. Tests are easy. You have to read The Odyssey and write a 5-10,000 word paper on a topic that he gives you (you have 20 questions to choose from to answer in your paper) so it's not too bad.
Extremely helpful when issues came up. Went out of his way to help myself and other students where he did not have to do anything at all.
British accent and all, he was an interesting professor. His lectures were sometimes boring, but managable. He was unorganized and confusing sometimes, but he would clear up any issues you had easily. The readings and test were easy. The essay was pretty easy and you get enough time to work on it. Overall, I enjoyed learning from him.
I really enjoyed taking a class with him and he was really passionate about teaching. He has a pet peeve about attendance and tardiness though and it's obvious. I actually missed this class when it was over he just really knew the topic. You have to pay attention, listen and take notes. Sometimes the time really drags but great teacher!
Good professor
he lacks clarity in instructions for assignments. Moreover, he is boring and not to helpful. Talkes about him self well too much.
Lots of reading, tests are somewhat hard and are based of his notes and the books. One long essay paper with sources which is worth 2 test grades and you also have to read 13 chapter's of the Oddyssey on your own and he will test you on it. If you dont read the chapters he assigns, you will probably fail.
If you dont read the chapters he assigns in the book which the test questions come from, you will fail. Also make sure you do good on the essay and use sources because it is worth 2 test grades.
Took his class as dual enrollment in 11th grade. Make sure you read whatever chapters he tells you to read or you'll fail. Turn in assignments on time and try not to be late. He interacts with everyone and helps anyone out if you ask in the right time. Overall a good professor
He's very rude to students and lectures are long and boring. by far the worst teacher I have ever had.
Mr . Farrow is a different character, lol but he lets the class re-take some tests that you didn't do good on. Easy
Super intelligent. He's pretty much been around the world and back. He tells a lot of stories about his days in England. Show up and turn everything in on time; he hates when people are late. Easy to me, but I love art and it's history. Recycles test questions with every test. Cutest old man with a British accent. I'd love a class with him again!
Lectures can be a bit boring and bland. But the subject is interesting and he is extremely knowledgeable on the subject. The class is easy and so are his tests. Just make sure you take notes.
Professor Farrow is extremely knowledgeable and his stories are very interesting. You learn much more than what you pay for. The exams are very fair and if you show up to his class and take notes, you should have no problems at all. You see the same questions repeated over and over on each exam which makes his exams super easy.
Do not take him. This is a warning for u. He is so rude, &so unorganized. He can never stay on track with the notes because he goes off topic to things he finds interesting to talk about. And dont rely too much on old tests bc he switches them up a lot. If you're not taking him as a credit than maybe it's ok. All the students agreed it was horrible
Very helpful. Keeps class interesting. Has a lot of world-experience, knows a lot of languages. Very intelligent, and also funny! Absolutely love his class!
Professor James is an amazing person, I learned a lot form him. I got an A in the class.
Very long and boring lectures, people constantly left class early. Also unorganized with assigning what chapters to read. Overall confusing. Long and hard tests. Barely passing right now, and I'm an A student. Do yourself a favor and do not take.
Possibly the worst professor I've had at Macomb. Lectures the entire class period. Goes off topic, a lot. Tries to clarify lectures with unrelatable examples. Exams are unpredictable, and the grade is based off of all exams and 1 essay. Makes very rude comments directly to students. Doesn't mind failing students, and makes that very clear.
i learned so much i loved his class so interesting!!
I didn't like my intro to myth class. There was just so much reading and the tests got harder and harder every time.
Farrow has by far the most interesting lectures I've ever attended, as he doesn't just force feed you the material, he actually tells stories of his life and his field when it's relevant to the topic being covered in class, he's a funny guy, and how could you not like a professor that enjoys family guy and south park?
I thought professor Farrow was a great instructor. He is funny in his own, uniquely, British way. That being said, I would absolutely take any course he offered, that I need, again. He teaches with relatable stories to the content.
Professor Farrow is great. Take notes and review them before your tests and you will pass. One paper due at the end that you choose the topic for out of a large list of topics. Easy professor, easy class.
Fantastic professor! If you are looking for a easy/lazy way to earn 2 credits, look elsewhere. There is plenty of reading involved and lectures to be heard. Professor Farrow is extremely intelligent, witty, and very fair. DON'T take the poor reviews too seriously, I would imagine those are the individuals who skipped or left class early.
Farrow is a treat to all students taking Mythology at MCC. He is a intelligent man who is Oxford educated. Oxford and Cambridge University are the two top Universities in the world that teach Mythology. Consider yourself lucky to even have him as a professor. He likes when people participate, and his class is easy to pass. Do not pass it up!
Great professor! Farrow is highly intelligent and has a great sense of humor in his own way. He loves family guy and southpark. He has interesting stories that relate to the topic. Try to avoid the bad reviews. They are probably from lazy students who skipped class or didn't bother to even learn anything.
Mr Farrow is awesome. He has great humor in his class, he is very descriptive on what he expects from you. He's definitely a no bs teacher. You absolutely must go to every class of his because he gets extremely irrate when people miss. Overall I would take his courses again.
Farrow is one of the best professors I have had so far. He knows the material well, and can get it across in less time than allotted, leaving time for questions and slight sidetracks. If you show up and pay attention you shouldn't have trouble passing. Going over the tests afterwards can be hilarious, if you did well. I wish there were a 2nd class.
Terrible teacher! Almost done with my bachelor's degree and this may be the most boring class I've ever had. He is extremely rude. There are many other Humanities classes that are much better
His class is boring. He's very rude, he doesn't give out study guides for tests. When there is a test coming up he lets you know a day before a class because he forgets about them. He goes off topic too much. His notes aren't on canvas and you won't know what you have in the class until the end of the semester. I suggest not to take him.
Mr. Farrow is an incredible professor with a bounty of information. He is Oxford educated and is incredibly wise. Being old, he does get off track a lot during lectures, however, he always finds a way to come full circle. Test have questions from earlier tests, and the exams are always very easy. Take notes. Come to class. You will pass.
The 3 essays were relatively simple, although out of the way. Tests were unorganized, and he forgot to teach stuff. You won't really know what to study. Don't bother with the book, waste of money. All you have for your grade are the tests and the essays, sounds simple, but the tests will stump you if you don't know the subject.
The best teacher at Macomb. You will learn a lot from him. I have taken two of his classes.
Great teacher! I loved this class and learning new things. He knows everything by heart and can teach anything you need to know about mythology.
Farrow is a great professor. He is a pretty easy grader when it comes to essays. He also makes questions bonus after tests if too many people got that one wrong. Overall he is a great teacher and i would recommend him to anyone. Just don't skip class and you'll be fine.
When I took him he used the book he wrote as our textbook so it was very hard to get away with not reading. But he's pretty funny and he'll make sure to get people to participate so it's not just pure lecture and nothing else. Pretty strict on what he wants for his final paper though.
Lucky to have him as my professor, very knowledgeable. Mythology was completely a new subject for me and he made me to like it. 1 pretest, 4 tests (multiple choice) and 1 essay paper which is due end of the semester and he gives good grades. Search Mythology by Farrow James in Studyblue or Quizlet, will help to get an A on each test.
He would be a cool grandpa. Very average teacher. He really only gave out occasional quizzes and one essay, so you really need to know your stuff to pass.
Extremely dull lectures, goes off-topic for 20-45 minutes at a time, about irrelevant information. I don't mind hearing about a prof's personal life every now and then, but not this often and when it doesn't relate to the subject matter. Forgets to teach material often and becomes upset when nobody knows what's going on. Would not take again.
Extremely boring; not passionate about what he teaches, goes off topic for long periods of time very often, and is not clear at all. The main reason I do not like him - I scored a low grade on a test, and he felt the need to say it in front of the whole class. I am never signing up for another class of his, and I suggest you do the same.
There is one paper for this class. If you fail it, you basically fail the class. No pressure but I put everything into that paper and barely passed it.
Class can get boring but I've learned a lot in this class. Hes an encyclopedia on mythology. Very smart. Use quizlet and blue streak it will help you tremendously. Study and you'll pass. Beware of the essay it's not something you can write over night.
Professor Farrow is a very nice man, but he is soft spoken with a very nice British accent, which easily puts me to sleep during him 10am Friday class. He expects you to understand all of the motifs and such immediately, even though many of us has not even read The Odyssey in our lives.
I took his Intro to Mythology class, not knowing what to expect. He ended up being a delightful and easy-going professor who is reasonable as long as you show up to class and do your work. He is very knowledgeable on Mythology, and his lectures make you appreciate Mythology more. He's witty, too. Only complaint is that he can ramble at times.
No doubt hes good person, but his teaching method is CONFUSING! I couldnt realize what hes teaching!!!
He's an ancient British guy with a very dry sense of humor who loves family guy. Laugh at his jokes and you're in. He's also extremely intelligent, so his depth of knowledge on pretty much every subject is really amazing. Exams are really easy, completely based off the textbook and notes, and he had all of his power points on canvas.
He knows his stuff about mythology, but he is very dull and always goes on tangents. Most his exams are already on quizlet and studyblue.
The class is all lecture based and readings are to be completed at home. He tends to get off topic once in a while but, it always relates to the material discussed in class. If you complete the readings and pay attention in class you'll receive a high A. People that receive lower than an A must not pay attention. Easy class, informational.
He knows what he is talking about and he is very intelligent. Although, he is very rude to some of his students and didn't hesitate to tell this student she did an awful job on his essay in front of the entire class. His lectures are boring and half of the time he talks about family guy. If you are looking for a course on Family Guy, he is great.
Very knowledgeable, exams are very easy, you can find his exams on quizlet, just study from the book(he wrote it) and his notes. has a unique sense of humor. homework just one essay & it's due on the end of the semester. all him powerpoints are on canvas.
Professor Farrow is a great instructor. I took Intro to Mythology this summer and I learned so much! Sure his lectures go into other subjects, but those subjects relate to Mythology. You really need to bring your logic and interest to class. He has inspired me to learn more history and most definitely my geography! He is one of my favorite Prof.
To the people that say hes rude havent quite grasped the concept of criticism quite yet, a concept that occurs daily in the real world. Do your work, attend class, participate, and you will walk away with a great wealth of knowledge from a man that is an asset to the college. One paper, dont procrastinate and youll be fine.
If you actually show up to class to take the notes, then the class is an automatic A. There is the big paper towards the end of the semester and it accounts for a huge chunk of your grade. Don't procrastinate the paper and you will do good. Mr Farrow is super nice and a great teacher. There is no homework besides the tests and the one paper.
Mr. Farrow is a good professor. He is very lecture heavy and he can be quite boring sometimes. He goes off topic quite a bit but it usually ends up relating to Mythology. He is very intelligent, but I feel like he expects you to have the same level of knowledge as him. I don't think I would take him again because he makes me fall asleep :(
You must be interested in mythology in order to do well in this class, if you dont like this subject do NOT take this class. There are 3 tests total (all on quizlet) and one final paper. His lectures are extremely heavy and goes off topic a lot and he expects you to know everything that he knows. Be prepared to read ALOT. So dont take this class.
Smart and knows what hes talking about but doesnt know how to teach a class. Hes unorganized and relies on the students to keep track of what hes covered. Hes been doing it for so long hes on auto pilot. Hes rude to his students, and no, its not criticism, it' and old man whos bitter b/c he thinks hes too smart to teach community college kids.
Very boring lectures. I wish I had taken this class with a different professor, I think I would have learned more.
i prefer graded hw as im a bad test taker, but he only grades 4 tests (including final) and 1 paper (start as soon as you can, dont procrastinate). if you ace all the tests and get a C on the paper, youll pass with an A-. All hw is reading, and most of it is on the tests so do the hw. he goes off topic a lot and and loses track of where he was.
Very good professor with some fun and entertaining side notes. My last professor at Macomb. I had a great time, and learned a lot. Do the reading and make sure to pay attention.
The best professor ive ever had! easy A this work is very simple and easy to do and he gives the best feedback and lets you re do if anything is wrong, the best!
There is 1 pretest, 3 multi choice tests, an essay, and a multi choice final. His lectures are longwinded and gives test/essay dates in class. Never uploads grades/due dates to Canvas, only his lecture ppts. Essay difficulty depends question chosen. Required to read the Odyssey. Makes too many references to South Park. Easy A if you show up
Gives fantastic lectures about his life experiences, which eventually relates back to the class subject. A couple lightweight papers, a few simple quizzes/tests. Grades on an easy curve. Not recommended for online classes. Not tech savvy, has no idea how to use classroom technology, email, or Canvas. He's a genius on his subject, though.
Professor Farrow definitely gives heavy lectures and sets expectations high. However, the test questions repeat themselves and are almost impossible to fail if you put in some study time. All exams are on quizlet and are very easy! I was intimidated at first but ended up having a great relationship with him and he helped me out a lot!
Very nice and knowledgable. I think I would've liked him even more in person. The online class was ok, but he's not tech savvy and doesn't really know how to use canvas. Doesn't always answer emails (again, not tech savvy). 4 super easy tests. Very repetitive questions. One essay paper, easy depending on topic you choose.
He made the class interesting and wanted to show up for class. Tests are relatively easy if you pay attention and study what he tells you and he goes over it with you to prepare for next one. Essay due at end of semester pay attention to his instructions on it he will grade you on how you respond to his instructions. Would definitely take again.
he doesn't really talk about anything involving the material during class and if he does talk about the material then he often gets sidetracked. however, he is a fun professor and his class is very enjoyable.
I took this class online last year. He was a very good teacher and explained everything nicely. He also answered any questions we had. We had a quizzes and a final. There was one written assignment which was a paper. The quizzes weren't too hard as long as you did the reading and paid attention in class. I would recommend Mr. Farrow for HUMN-1750.
I can tell he is passionate about what he teaches. Tests were easy to pass, as most of what he lectures is on them, and he makes sure to go over certain topics multiple times. As long as you are keeping up with reading, you will understand the material and likely pass. My only complaint is sometimes lectures could be long-winded or repetitive.
It was a very easygoing course with only one actual homework assignment, the rest of the assignments being quizzes, though he does get sidetracked in his lectures a bit. Also, get ready for references to family guy, he brings the show up often...
Professor Farrow is very wise and is passionate about mythology! I loved his lectures and learned a lot. The textbook is mandatory.
Very Chill Class
Professor Farrow's lectures were far from what you would expect in a college class. Instead of "lecturing" he would type everything in the chat while occasionally saying a few words. He was unorganized, had little knowledge in how technology works, and was extremely boring. Save your frustration and money by not taking one of his classes.
What a good guy. Tells nice stories and has a great accent. I really enjoyed this class. Lecture heave and definitely a lot of ready but i didn't mind it personally. :)
Where do I even begin? This class was a lot easier than my first impression however the content is very dry. I took this class over the summer for eight weeks from 6-9 pm he lectured for the entire THREE HOURS and would go over on time OFTEN. His lectures are unrelated and he doesn't screen share, use cameras, and uses Canvas for meetings.
I can't say enough great things about this man! I highly recommend him to anyone!
Super easy
He is lecture heavy, and you have to read the books. The plus side was all his quiz/exams were online usually on a weekend, he was very understanding of schedules. Overall wasn't a bad class just wasn't a fan of how he teached with lectures. If you can take pages of notes every class, then you'll be fine!
Amazing professor, super nice and gives extensions if needed, all test are online, no homework
this professor is currently my favorite at MCC. He is also super British with a very fun accent. You will be learning not only super cool things in a deeper dive in mythology but also throw in history, geography, and some language roots (these things won't be graded or tested on btw he just tells you about them because he loves the subject so much)
He says you have to read the books, but you don't. If you listen to his lectures even a little bit, you can easily pass the tests. All he really does is talk. The only thing you're graded on is the tests. If you're looking for some easy credits, take him. If you're looking for an engaging, challenging class, don't take him.
Mr. Farrow was a really sweet elder man who clearly was passionate about mythology. The class wasn't for me though, there was never a clear direction in his lectures and never felt engaging. I like professors who lecture quickly so maybe it just wasn't the fit for me. But the class is super easy so if you can sit through a boring lecture, take it!
Professor Farrow is passionate about the subject matter. Lectures can be lengthy, but engaging if you stay attentive. Readings are mandatory, but tests are manageable with proper preparation. unstuck study proved helpful for effective study and review.
the sweetest old man ever! he's not very tech savvy so your papers will be printed for him to grade. He's super understanding and caring. I had missed an exam due to being out of town and not having internet and he opened it back up for me to take and gave me full credit for it. he's super sweet and just down right adorable! easy class to take.
