Fenwick is a great man, and an amazing teacher. He communicates the material with a high degreee of clarity, and uses many different analogies to produce forward thinking. I'm very happy he came out of retirement.

Prof. came out of retirement to help out by teaching this courses and has been worrying all term that he might let us down - he has not! Great course, one of the best I have taken in four years at university. so prof. stay on for anothet ten years!

I think he might be the most entertaining professor on the face of the planet. Makes you want to go to his class just to see what he is going to come up with. Midterm was hard but fair. TAKE HIS CLASS!

good prof, horrible at writting midterms, midterm was full of mistakes, spelling errors, repeating of question. he plays word games on his exams to the point where you cant even think anymore... compared some of his answers on the mi dterms with the notes and they contradict. dont take his class

That last student must be from another planet. The prof spent more than a half hour helping me. He did keep asking me to restate my questions but in the process things cleared right up for me. This is a wonderful and caring professor. Wow - some people.

Fenwick is totally awesome! His lectures are interesting, and he explains concepts well. Apparently his midterms and finals are absolutely brutal though.

Great prof!! I like him a lot...only thing is that he doesn't put enough on the slides, so you have to write a lot and always miss something. And his midterms/exams are absolutely brutal...but the marks always get belled so it doesn't matter! Very interesting lectures.

the only problem i have with this guy, is that he'll tend to talk about the faults of the class and carry on about how he thinks we should be improving.... Not that giving us tips is a bad thing---- he sometimes does it in excess.

It took me a while to figure out that the prof was teaching me to think and to learn. I ended up loving the course and the professor. He should be teaching other profs how to teach and hope that he never retires again.

There are not even words on this Earth to describe the wonderful-ness that is FENWICK!! Brillant, hilarious, just simply amazing...is and always will be my favourite university prof. Class is not for the weak though as he expects you to know your stuff...so study, pay attention and all have fun with him...it will help you learn the material better

Fenwick is an amazing prof. He Is Very clear, organized and shows an interest in the topic. He expects students to know the material and you need to really prepare for his midterms. Half of his midterms are questions that anyone who has come to class can answer and the rest require real knowledge.

Excellent prof. The only thing is that he tends to go over specific on his exams. For example, he expects us to know a lot of specific names (fill in the blank) but if he told us those names or subjects and asked us to explain them, we would do a lot better

Oh Fenwick! His exams are killer, but you can't help but love him. His teaching is engaging, his stories are priceless and no matter what, he does his best to make lectures interesting. Keep on top of the class and learn how to study for it...I had him for 2 classes, let me tell you the second time you have him the course goes a lot smoother.

Gives very helpful, practical advice(when you need/deserve it); hearing it from him makes you want to actually follow it. I don't know why he keeps saying he thinks a lot of people hate him: I can think of one reason and those people are at university now so their thinking should have evolved( ;) ) by now. I wish all profs were as good as him.

I feel so lucky to be taught by him. I think he came out of retirement to teach this year...hope he sticks around for as long as he is needed....which is forever. Nobody could replace him, not for me anyways.

Great Prof! I think people only complain about him when they see their marks or they've just written a midterm/exam because it was hard and they feel it was unfair but I never think its unfair because if I don't know something, that's my fault.

I learned more in this course than in all others combined. Prof. taught me to think and forced me to think. I love him.

Although his exams are demanding and thorough (pay very close attention to examples and attend class), Fenwick is an energetic and funny prof that really knows his stuff and is fantastic at making it interesting to learn. I'm an English major with no experience in biology, but I both enjoyed his class and managed to pass with a decent grade.

Great prof! Loved his advice on how to approach studying--if he gives you studying advice, follow it!! He know's his stuff and he knows exactly what it takes to succeed. Start reading from day #1 and you will do well. :0) Great sense of humour too! Con--his virtual campus is difficult to navigate.

The 2nd best dam course I ever took, second only to BIO 1130 that Prof. Fenwick also taught. I learned an immense amount in both courses. Hard, you have to work, but worth the effort.

Great guy, knows his stuff. He should be teaching still, sad to hear friends in first year don't have him. Exams were tough but he adjusts your grade to get the best final mark.

Also had him in BIO1140. Funny, interesting, knowledgeable, awesome prof! Absolutely go to class, the notes won't cut it if you want to do well. On the other hand, his words are pure gold. Listen to what he says about work habits and read the book as much as you can. Tests are quite hard, he really wants you to think outside the box.

Fenwick is a great prof. He really knows a lot and is very helpful. His midterms are killer but his exams are easier if you put in the time. I took BIO1130 under him 2 years back and I am still wondering how there is no other professor who can match his sheer teaching skill, knowledge, love for students, fairness and passion for what he does. Best lecturer I've ever had and probably ever will have. Funny, helpful, covers all the material, really nice guy. Flexible office hours. Not the easiest course ever, but there's really nothing to complain about. Hope he sticks around a bit longer to teach some of the second and third-year courses.

Excellent prof, approachable. hopefully he does another year teaching, no other prof i've had so far can compare. makes the material more relaxed making it easier to learn and makes his expectations clear day 1. as well he brings some humor into the classroom which is needed. thanks for the semester Prof Fenwick. It is the night before exam and no matter what happens to me tomorrow, this was a great course and prof fenwick was a great prof. I hope to have him again in the futute.

i am vry sad to hear that prof Fenwick is retiring. He is the best prof I have had in four years at university. he will be sadly missed. He is a super teacher, and a friend to his students. He was always there to talk with and give advice.

So I got a C+ when I expected at least a B+ - my fault. It was a very fare exam that covered most of the course. If prof were coming back I think I would take the course again - fantastic teacher and a wonderful man.

Prof. Fenwic is simply the best. When I was having some personal problems he took the time to help me get through them. He is also a fantastic teacher, very knowledgeable, admits when he does not know something. Prof. is a wonderful man and I am very sad I may never have him for another course.

I marvel at the fact that Prof, now some seventy years old, still gets marks for being hot. But I just gave him one even though he is sooooo cool! I feel so sorry for all of the students who will not be able to have this wonderful man as a teacher and friend. I intend to keep in touch with him.

I'm going into into 4th year and BIO 1130 is still the most interesting and significant course I have taken. It changed my way of thinking, in fact it got me thinking. I am so sad that Prof. has retired as I really wanted to take another course from him. Enjoy your retirement Prof. But come back!

Had Fenwick for 1130 in 2007 and he was wonderful. Still the best course I have ever taken and the best teacher I have had. He should come back and teach some fourth year courses.

I actually enjoyed his BIO1140 class. Some of his jokes were inappropriate, but he knew how to keep his students awake in class with his sense of humor. He's really friendly and helpful. The course material is good, his midterm was good, exam a little tricky. Glad he taught me in his last year of teaching. GOOOOODBYEEE FENWICK!!! =)

Fenwick is a good guy. His exams are deadly if you study only the night before. He is entertaining as a teacher but unless your life is all about studying, dont expect to leave his class with an A+

Prof retired about a year ago but he is still available to answer questions and give advice. This is the most dedicated teacher I have ever had and I am just finishing third year. Bring this Prof back, we need him.

Saw Prof. this evening where I work. He looks great and is happy with his retirement. Says he does not miss working but I certainly miss him. He remains my favorite teacher of all time. I truly believe he did love his students!

Best Prof I've ever had in my university career. His class was my first class in university, and he really prepared us by not only teaching the material, but also teaching us how to study. He wrote me a medical school reference as well, and I got in!

What a breath of fresh air in the U of O. Down to earth, bold, humorous and inspirational. Prof wants his students to do well. Values creativity and new ideas. Not in the least condescending. His classes are always interesting, informative and usually funny. I wish he was still teaching because I would take every course he teaches.

I bumped int Prof. on campus but he is not teachin, he is taking a course. Had a nice long talk with him. What a nice man! His course is still my all time favorite, wish he was still teaching. I would take any course he teaches.

Now that I am getting into my Masters, I remembered Fenwick. He was one of the best professors I had. I hope he is enjoying his retirement and it is such a loss to the Science faculty that he doesn't teach anymore.

ECO1130 is a pretty good course to begin with. Taught by Prof. Fenwick, that course changed my outlook on life. I am not a science student, but I sincerely hope that some of his students who feel the same way I do (it seems there are many) will become BIO professors and do their best to adapt and carry on his legacy. Had prof about 15 years ago. Bumped into him at the gym and he is still in great shape and very friendly. Wish I could go back in time and take the course again. Started with no interest in biology and now I'm a biologist. I can thank prof fenwick for that! Thanks Prof.
