Best chemistry instructor at Moraine. Tests are very straightforward and as long as you study the notes he writes on the board and personal reading from the book, you'll do fine. Also, the final is comprised of questions from the previous tests he hands out during the semester...

This teacher really wants you to succeed and makes organic chemistry understandable ... he will stay after class as long as it takes to work with students. His exams are designed for you to show your learning, no tricks. Best science teacher I ever had.

Dr. Fraites is a very good instructor....he makes difficult concepts easy to understand. He also really cares about his students and their success. I really enjoyed his class and learned much more than I expected.

I am a returning adult. He is a fabulous organic chemistry teacher ... he takes really hard concepts and breaks them into steps that I can visualize. With the desparate need for good science teachers, I cannot believe this teacher is just part-time. Does not seem right ...

He is my favorite professor yet from MVCC. I just took his Organic Chem class and as hard as the material was, he made it fun and understandable. I would highly reccommend him to anyone especially if science is not your thing. I couldn't say enough good things about him.

I just started taking his CHM 111 class, and he is the most awesome science teacher I have ever had. He really gets me excited to want to learn, and he gives us so many learning tools, I am really motivated to learn and do well. You can tell that he truly wants us to earn good grades and be successful.

Dr fraites is the best teacher ive ever had. He truely cares about his students and will do everything he can to help them understand. Ive been terrible at science and i can say the notes he gives are very easy to follow. No homework. Handouts are allowed for quiz. Labs take about 30 muns. If you show up and put in effort youll definately get an A.

Dr Fraites is the best teacher I have ever had, he really cares about the students. Lectures are easy to follow, homework does not have to be turned in, but his Take Home Exercises are available on his Blackboard website. Do the Take Home Exercises and you will definitely get an A or B. His quizzes are designed to help you for the exams.

I just finished the final exam today. It was comprehensive, like Dr Fraites said, and it was very fair. Take his class for sure, and do the homework exercises on Blackboard, they are better than the book problems, and they really prepare you. Fraites is a super teacher, and it is cool that he wants us to learn so we will excel in our careers.

Fraites explains things so you can understand them. You don't have to come to class, but you are missing out if you don't. Also, the Blackboard site has everything you need to do well in the class, so you need to go there frequently. He is really fair, really cares, and if you do the work, you will do well. One of the best teachers ever.

If you are lucky enough to have Dr Fraites for a teacher, then you will do well in Chem. He spells everything out for you and is very helpful. Do the take home exercises and you will do well. Email him if you have any ?'s. He will help you.I feel very lucky to have had him as my instructor. :)

I had Dr Fraites for CHM 111 in the fall of 2011. I have never had a teacher, high school or college, who cared as much about my success as he did. You have to study, it is not an easy A, but everything you need is given to you crystal clear ... if you put in a few hours a week studying, you do great, and you will learn things to get a better job.

Snow has arrived and so has the spring semester. I am taking CHM 131 this semester, and I just wish Dr Fraites was my teacher again. He really cares about his students, and he really helps you to earn a good grade if you attend class and do the homework. I looked forward to coming to class, and I was sad the last day that it was over.

He is a superb chemistry teacher who is enthusiastic and enjoys working with students. I had him in fall 2011, and if you follow what he asks you to do, you will earn a good grade. So, do the Take Home exercises that he provides on Blackboard, and you will do great on quizzes and exams. But, you have to put in the time. Great course !!

The instructor is very patient and will go over things as much as needed so students will understand each concept. Quizzes and tests are very fair, but you do have to study the Take Home exercises and Handouts. His Blackboard website will teach the entire course. If you take his class, you will learn about how to approach science. Nice guy !!

This instructor really wants students to learn and perform well. You have to come to class, and you have to study, but his quizzes and exams are extremely fair. Class is structured so that you will do well on quizzes, and the quiz scores really help toward your final grade. Lab is fun and entertaining. His Blackboard site is great.

The "doc" is really a very nice guy. He is easy to talk too, and he wants you to do well in the class. If you need to talk, he is always available to listen. The course is structured so that you know exactly what to do and what to expect ... science does not get any better than this class. I really like the handouts and learning tools.

If you have to take an intro course in chemistry, find a way to take this guy. He knows chemistry, and he knows how to communicate and teach it to students who don't know much of anything. You have to put in the work, but you will learn valuable stuff for your career. If you work and attend, you will get a good grade ... just that simple.

Great teacher for those that are afraid of chemistry. He gives you example problems prior to each quiz, just learn those and you will never get less than a B on a test or quiz. Labs are easy and you barely use the text book. Easy going guy that responds to emails quickly and utilizes blackboard. Take Mr. Fraites, you won't regret it!

Excellent professor, Dr. Friates is a nice and understanding professor. I do not like chemistry, but I like his class. I got 98% in class. You need to study from power point, take home exercise, quizzes, and exams. You must get an "A". I have been really enjoyed being in his class. I learned a lot from him. This class is my elective course.

Awesome professor! This is a really easy class and he makes it really easy. I would shop online during lecture and I got an A and 100% on the final. He takes FOREVER to explain everything, but its worth the easy A.

Fraites is a really great teacher, and if you need chemistry for nursing or allied health, take him. He really cares about your career. Unlike the student who "did her online shopping during lecture", who must be really good in math, I am not good in math, and he really helped my in lecture by explaining each and every step until we understood.

The best thing about his class is that he makes you attend, so you will learn. Final exam was very fair. It was nice that he gave a course evaluation, it shows that he really cares what students think. If you are going to take his class, he has a website with the Power Points and Take Home exercises from the book. So wait to see his website before you buy the books for the class, I returned mine. Thanks Doc for the wonderful incentives you used to make sure I attended class. I learned a lot from the quizzes and in-class exercises. I feel really well prepared now for BIO 180 and the start of my nursing program thanks to you. It really showed that you cared that I learned, and it made a huge difference to many of my classmates as well.

Best of the bests his goal is making sure you understand everything.. He's not afraid to dumb it up to explain things very helpful. My first chm class ever..its a shame he only teaches chm 111

Dr. Fraites is the best teacher I have ever had for any subject. He lectures at a pace that is easy to take notes and follow along with. He gives a lot of practice time in class to work on the days lecture. His tests are designed for the student to succeed. There are no questions on the tests that you aren't prepared for, most are from the homework

Fraites is fabulous and I am now prepared so much better for my career ... his gift is that he will really work with you to make sure you get it ... so you can do well on the quizzes and exams ... you have to study, but it is worth every minute you spend ... he also has a wonderful sense of humor and you will really look forward to going to class.

Dr. Fraites is by far the best teacher I've ever had. His class flew by. He explains everything well & will go over it until everyone understands. You do not need the textbook or lab book at all. Labs are easy. Everything you need for studying is in the notes or on his website. Take him for CHM111, especially if you're going into allied health.

super nice. i took chem in h.s. already so this class was a breeze. i didnt use the book or notes at all (because i already knew the material). i would have explained some things a little differently though--more simply. but hes a good guy. i recommend him and id take him again if i were to take another chem class.

I wish Fraites taught more classes, because the things you learn are so useful. He will give you a 30 page Tool Kit and a website you can study from which are just awesome, and his teaching style makes chemistry easy to learn. He will respect you as a person. You must come to class, all quizzes are tied to attendance, but you will love the class.

I was apprehensive about taking chemistry as an older adult. I am not a whiz at math. But, within the first two weeks, I knew I was in the right class, because Fraites gives so many cool and interesting ways to do things. He has written an awesome book and website that he gives you, and the website is amazing. Take him.

This is the only physical science class I need to take, and I am glad I got Fraites. I never really thought I could like or do well in chemistry, but I am learning things I know I will use in my future career as a nurse. He has so many cool ways to help you learn things, it is amazing, and I remember them. I am so thankful I am taking him.

This was a great science class from a really superb teacher. When I read the comment posted on 5-3, I was shocked. The quizzes help us learn. He does talk but he explains things so we get the concept. And this thing about him talking during tests, he never did that, except once or twice to explain a typo or a misworded problem. Take him, for sure.

Enjoyed this class so much and he was so helpful, I cannot believe someone complained about Dr Fraites talking too much or during tests. If you have a question during a quiz or test, you raise your hand, and he comes to your desk and quietly helps you. He is a very humble person who really wants students to learn, and I wish he taught CHM 131.

Take this class if you need a science class. It is an intro course, and Dr Fraites makes it easy to learn. Quizzes are open notes and really help your grade, and tests are really fair. Thanks Dr Fraites for the July 4th holiday take home exam. It was a great idea so the class did not miss a week without learning. I think I did really good on the exam because I could sit and focus on these three really key chapters.
