Good teacher makes a boring class bearable.
Real nice guy. Makes class interesting. Tests arent very hard, and he gives you plenty of opportunities to raise your grade. Take him
AWESOME guy. He's really considerate and really makes an effort to get to know you. Wants you do do well; helps you raise your grade in lots of grades. Really personable-- Take him, you'll love him even if you hate marketing.
Great Professor. He is one of those guys who is teaching for the students. Hard to make a bad grade. Nice guy, take him.
Took the online class. Seems really nice and cares about your grades from all the emails he sends. I annoyed the crap out of him through emails and he bumped me up to an A. Real nice guy
Nice Tushy;)
He's really cool and tries to make it fun - he'll keep you awake but sometimes gives pop quizzes which are not so fun... he shows videos in class though and makes the information very relevant and sometimes will let class out early :)
Great teacher! He is a very nice guy who tries to make the class fun! He relates it to the real world and keeps it from being boring. He gives "pop quizzes" usually 2 classes before each test. Use the questions from the book online to help you study! Towards the end of the semester you get out early a lot. Lots of extra credit opportunities too!!
pretty easy class. consists of 4 quizzes, 4 exams, and an optional final. basicially if you like your grade pre-final, you don't need to take it. i studied for about 4 or 5 hours each test, which i don't consider that much, and made an A. he's definitely a good teacher, i reccommend him
Great guy- and has very interesting lectures if you enjoy marketing. I'm a straight A student and struggled to pull off an A- (probably should have been a B).
Awesome teacher. Always lets us out early. PP lectures. Go to class almost everyday and will give you 30 free points at the end. 4 pop quizzes, but can get 100 on both of them by his surveys. Read the text and pay attention and you should be able to get an A. DO WELL on 1st four test and you wont have to take the final. Shows lots video clips
This class was very interesting and not too hard. He taught from PowerPoints which were online. It is important to go to class because he showes videos and there are questions on the tests about them. Also, its important to read the book because some questions came straight from the text. Not too hard and you can exempt the final!
Gaubert is impossible to contact outside of class. Tests were harder than necessary. He's an interesting lecturer, but 4 test and a midterm seemed a bit much.
He tells you to buy the brand new $140 book and read it but the book sucks and the questions he pulls from the book are border line impossible to remember. He plays favorites like it's his job and takes attendance...Avoid him if you don't like kissing ass, seriously!
This is a boring class unless you're a marketing major. I would NOT take him if I could avoid it. You have a assigned seats so get there early that day. He takes attendance and it can effect your grade, being late can effect it as well. Tests are relatively hard, but the powerpoints that he teaches from are online. Don't take him if you can.
I swear Gaubert put half of these comments on here. The material really isn't that hard, but he makes it hard on the test. You can exempt the final which is nice, but you have to study your ass off to for all the other tests. Overall an easy B but A's are hard to come by.
hard class. going to class doens't help at all. the power points are useless and thats all he does in class. you dont have to take the final if you like your midterm exam grade. tests are ridiculous unless you basically memorize each chapter.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, i don't know why he has a checkmark by his name...his tests are impossible. plus their are pop quizes...which basically everyone does horrible on...
Great professor. Makes the info interesting and uses real life examples to apply the topics to. Shows videos in class-puts them on the quizzes/tests! New book is great-no chapter is longer than 15 pg, online quizzes help alot and he sometimes uses them word for word on exams, flashcards online too. 4 quizzes-easily replace 2. 4 exams+optional final
Great teacher! I don't know how any of these people didn't like him. He did everything that he possibly could to make sure kids did well in his class. His tests are hard, and everyone does poorly on his pop quizzes, but he still finds a way to help you succeed. I never made above a 65 on a quiz and still got an A. Lots of extra credit!
Overall a good prof. The class is not easy, you have to study to do well. The new book is very helpful though, it helps you study by providing online quizzes (questions which Gaubert puts on the quizzes and tests). The "pop" quizzes are easy to predict when they will be. Lots of extra credit. Take him.
I think he's a great professor. Loved the class but it is in my major so I am a little bias. You do have to study but as long as you read the chapters (aka KNOW THE VOCAB) you'll do fine. I would take him again for sure. He offers extra credit. going to class is kind of pointless but it's ok to miss - just be sure you don't have a quiz that day.
Great Teacher. His test and quizes are REALLY hard. Know every single definition for each test. It will help you. Also USE the online flashcards. He uses direct question. You will learn alot from him, but getting an A is difficult unless your good at multiple choice. Make sure you read before each class! And pay attention to his youtube videos.
He gives hard "pop" quizzes (he kinda warns you), but you can replace your 2 lowest ones. His tests are from his slides and the book. This class was pretty easy and Prof Gaubert is awesome.
LOVED HIM! great professor, extremely helpful, interesting lectures!!!
One of the best teachers at Clemson by far. Very helpful, always friendly. Does a great job of condensing the material and is always willing to help out. Highly recommended for Marketing.
awesome guy, he is great with examples, always let me make up a test when i was 'sick'. They were not really hard but they did require you to pay attention and read the book. I myself, not a fan of reading, relied on the powerpoints and did just fine too though... i would completely recommend him. very funny, nice, and understanding.
He's a really nice guy, but the class is all about definitions. He lectures from a PowerPoint but fails to cover hardly any of the material on his tests. You must come to class to get some answers (like what videos were watched) and some figures are only available on the PowerPoint.
Professor Gaubert is awesome, interesting class, easy quizzes and tests if you study for an hour or two, and offers a lot of extra credit. Take his class if you need the MKT 301 credit.
Gives "pop" quizzes that are difficult. He does give extra credit for the two lowest quiz grades. He does make class interesting though. You also have to really study for the tests. Read the chapters, use the book's website, and make sure to study the power points.
Class is harder than it should be, he is super specific on test questions and quiz questions. He knows his stuff though. HUGE class, flls up Newman Aud. No hw, 4 quizzes, 4 tests, and attendance for grades.
I was in a class of 170 students and never spoke up during lectures, but he still knew my name and recognized my face when I went in for Marketing advising. Great guy... makes mistakes on his tests sometimes, but usually gives points back in the long run. Class wasn't hard as long as you read the chapters and skimmed the vocab before the tests.
Easy class as long as you read/skimmed the chapters before class. also post the slides he uses in class for future refrencing. tests were fairly easy and he gives a total of 5 tests including final but only counts the highest 4 and also has 2 replacement options for quizes(a total of 4 quizes). overall easy class and good prof
Answers to tests you have to come to class to get.
Good professor, always shows videos in class, and some of them are pretty interesting. Make sure you go to class and take good notes on the powerpoints and you should be fine
I loved this class! Dr. Gaubert was very knowledgeable and passionate about marketing and he made the class very interesting. His tests are challenging only if you skipped class or did not do the reading otherwise they are completely fair. He made the material relevant and used a lot of examples that applied to his students. Also a really nice guy.
Dr. Gaubert is an awesome guy who is very knowledgeable about marketing. His tests are fair and A's are attainable in the class as long as you study. Follow the material in class because his "pop" quizzes can be very challenging. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone.
He was an okay teacher. I lost interest in the lesson halfway through the class and his tests are pretty hard. Thought it would be an easy A but its not. You have to study for this class.
I thought it was going to be and easy A but it wasn't. His pop quizzes killed me. If you do the research and don't miss classes you should be ok. His class lecture were boarding. He does do some crazy demonstrations thought the year which are great.
Gaubert would show videos and try to make us interact so lecture was never completely boring. As long as you take lecture notes and read the book (reading the book made a difference in my test grades) you'll pass with a good grade. Just go to class, take notes, and read and you should be okay.
Just received one of the rudest emails from a professor over his list serve that I have ever seen. Let's just say he can't get off his high horse and I do not recommend this course.
Gaubert is the nicest guy, and is willing to help you if you ask for it. His lectures are really short and to the point (reads right off the power point slides). Doesn't give a lot of work, but when it comes time for the test make sure to study EVERYTHING including his slides because his test are not easy. He gives generous curves which is nice.
This class was way harder than I expected. Read the book and go to class. He consistently showed us videos in class (content will be on graded activities). There are 4 tests and 4 quizzes along with attendance. I went to class and read each chapter several times and still only received a B. The final exam can replace your lowest test score.
Great teacher, absolutely loved him. Tests weren't too hard if you went to class and paid attention. Classes never lasted the whole time. Difficult to meet with him outside of class hours though. Overall my favorite professor!
Professor Gaubert's class was typically a slideshow that pulled material straight from the book; the only reason I then came to class and didn't just read was because he verbally assigns homework and changes dates - if you don't have a friend tell you if you weren't there, you'll miss info. Overall fairly average, memorization heavy class.
Professor Gaubert's lectures are entirely powerpoint based. His powerpoints are also verbatim from the book so if you read the book before coming to class, and study the powerpoint slides, you'll do fine. He moves pretty quickly, skipping over several slides. Pretty slow at answering e-mails and is pretty slow to put grades in other than tests.
Take Gaubert if you have absolutely zero interest in learning anything useful. His classes involved reading PowerPoint slides that came with the book word for word without being able to offer any additional insight into how this information is useful in the real world. Tests are straight from the book, but not necessary if you know the right people
Gives interesting lectures about the intro to marketing. If you want an A then you need to read the textbook before the lectures.
Gaubert made this class unnecessarily difficult. The tests are so specific to the textbook you're going to want to memorize the chapters. If you aren't very interested in marketing I'm sure there are easier professor options for MKT3010. However, he is a very nice and caring professor that is exceedingly knowledgeable.
Professor Gaubert does well to make the class interesting. My advice is read the textbook (which you will need) and you should be fine for the tests and quizzes.
His class is all lectures and all outside of class reading. If you don't read the textbook, you will fail. If you do read the textbook and study for tests, easy A. He has a clear grading criteria, so you know what is needed to get a good grade. Attendance is mandatory and he puts questions of quizzes/tests that you have to be in class to know.
Read the textbook and you are guaranteed an A. I didn't study at all besides reading all the chapters the day before the exam and making a quizlet with all the bolded words and easily got an A. He never takes attendance but he gives assignments in class sometimes that you won't be aware of unless you were there. Super nice guy.
Genuinely one of the funniest professors I've had without even meaning to be. The course was a minimester, so obviously a different setup than a regular class, but he still made it highly entertaining. Would definitely recommend James and this course.
MKT 3010 with Gaubert was fantastic! Theres 5 pop quizzes (always after 2 chapters covered so you see them coming, and the last one is an easy 100%) and then 4 tests. You don't even have to read from the book, if you study the powerpoint slides they are all in there. Study you make an A, don't study and you'll prob make a low C, but not fail.
Prof is nice and tries hard to engage the class. Is super understanding if you reach out to him and cares about his students. However the tests and quizzes are hard and there are many other professors that teach this class that are easier/ less time consuming. If you don't read and memorize the textbook you will fail.
The tests are extremely detail oriented, very difficult to get an A. I had to read the textbook chapters 4 times over to do well on the tests.
Oh my gosh I LOVE MR. G!!!!! He is the greatest & so passionate about what he teaches. Make sure you read before class as there are 5 pop quizzes (one for each unit-before the tests). You can drop the lowest quiz grade. The final can also replace the lowest test grade or you can exempt it. I would DEFINITELY take his class again. Love him.
He tries to make class interesting with videos and some demonstrations, but honestly I think this should be an online class because lectures were almost identical to the book. Also the quizzes and tests seem much harder than they should be, considering this is an intro to marketing class and the material doesn't seem hard.
Absolutely loved Gaubert. He's very passionate about what he teaches and his lectures line up with the book. He makes you work for your grade, especially with exams. Assignments are easy, but that's because he relates it to the real world. Don't slack off in this class. He puts in a lot of effort and deserves students who will listen. Easy A or B.
Professor Gaubert really cares about his students and does good lectures. He never took up the entire hour and a half he had, classes would often only be 45 minutes which is very nice and helps to stay engaged. The quizzes are each week and are very hard for no reason at all. The tests are not as bad. You might be upset at times, but will learn.
Nice guy but just lectures on and on and doesn't provide material to help you do better. Doesn't give enough time for test, the final was 55 questions with only 65 minutes to take for a cumulative test meanwhile all the rest of my finals had 180 minutes for similar lengths. Just doesn't know how to help students succeed. Take a different professor.
Honestly, the textbook is really all you need to know, but you need to know it really well. Quizzes have questions that will be on the test so study those! Look out for those top hat questions because you REALLY need those points at the end. Fair warning covid era takers: All tests AND quizzes are in lockdown browser with camera.
Gaubert was such a fun professor to have. Not only is he very knowledgeable on marketing, but he also is very good at explaining things and spending time on the concepts that really matter. The tests and quizzes are pretty easy if you know what to expect (read the book!).
This class isn't too difficult to understand. There is just a lot of information and concepts you need to understand. There are quizzes every week for 2-3 chapters and the questions are either vocab or marketing scenarios. If you read the textbook and take notes you should be okay. Prof. Gaubert isn't very flexible on curving grades.
The course isn't difficult, but it takes time. If you read the chapters and take notes, study them and you should be okay. The grade you receive depends on the time you take to study. Prof. Gaubert cares about his students and wants them to do well. He isn't very flexible on curving grades but knows what he is talking about.
This class isn't hard but does require lots of outside work. As long as you go over the powerpoints, read the textbook and go over your chapter quizzes you shouldn't do bad.
I am guessing why your here, you want the easies Marketing teacher in Clemson well this is not your guy. Gaubert blows through his lectures and after everyone you'll ask yourself what did I just learn. The entire semester I would have to read the chapter before lecture then listen to him ramble and then go back through his slides. Do not pick him!
Gaubert is super kind. He wants his students to be successful and wants his students to ask questions and understand the material. STUDY FOR THE QUIZZES. they will bring your grade down if you do poorly on them. Quizzes + Test grades + attendance points + in-class question points final grade.
Professor Gaubert is extrememly engaging with his students. He makes the lectures interesting and there was very minimal homework.
One of those classes where the content itself isn't hard, it's just that you have to know a lot of stuff. You have to read the textbook, because the lectures are fast and he really doesn't say anything the powerpoints don't say. if you just read the powerpoints it's definitely not enough. Also, tests + quizzes + attendance are your grade. take ACF
Lectures VERY fast and never says more than what is on the slides. Material was somewhat easy and becomes very repetitive. What made the class so difficult was how vague his test and homework questions were. Assignments filled with typos and incorrect terms. Gives extremely vague and short responses when asking for extra help outside class.
Gaubert strictly reads off of his slides that he has had since 2007. Grades assignments with no clear feedback and no consistency. Good luck studying for exams when the only thing available is about 500+ slides to look through. Typos on almost all assignments. Would not recommend him.
This is my second time taking a MKT class with him and I felt like this semester he put in much less effort. He mostly read off the slides, the tests were more complicated than expected, and he had some vague assignments throughout the semester (but he was lax). wasnt hard but I (and he) didn't feel engaged with the material. don't get the book!
For 3100, read each chapter and pay close attention to vocab and italizized words. Memorize these, and use quizlets to prepare for tests. Class is not necessarily mandatory but must attend enough to pass the attendance grade through TopHat. He just reads slides but tries to incorporate examples and videos to be more entertaining.
Great guy. Helped me a lot with my schedule and connecting me with people outside of class. More than willing to help and flexible. Test heavy, study quizlets and read the textbook and you'll be fine.
He is an awful teacher. He makes the tests way harder than they need to be. He also has mandatory attendance and doesn't respond to emails.
Terrible teaching style. His lectures are not just painfully boring, but not even helpful. He'll force you to attend class but skips through his slides fast enough that you can't read them since he wants you to read the textbook. Why attend lecture if I can't even take notes? Made us download $30 app to ditch it when ppl weren't coming to class.
Very lecture heavy, very fast paced and often kind of boring. There are lots of quizzes and a few exams and thats pretty much all your graded on. I think the hardest part of this class is applying the things you learn which is a lot of definitions and basic concepts. Overall, if you read the textbook and review the slides you can make an A or B.
Professor Gaubert is very knowledgeable, but his lectures get kind of boring. Exams aren't hard if you study quizlets and vocabulary, and he drops the lowest of 4. There are in class questions, and attendance is mandatory. Read the text book and show up to class and you'll be fine.
Everyone hates on him because he has boring lectures, but the tests are so easy. There are quizlets out there with word to word questions and answers. Study the quizlets and you will be fine. Don't miss class though, it will affect you in the end when he grades attendance and participation.
Hes a super nice guy if you follow the rules and respect him. Show up to class! He grades participation and you have to answer embedded questions on TopHat. Theres 6 at home quizzes and 3 tests (super easy) throughout the semester. Definitely read and take notes on the chapter before each lecture so you can follow along because he goes sort of fast
Prof Gaubert's class was not hard, but you will have to learn EVERY chapter to do well and he gives like 6 quizzes and you have to study for them as you would a test. It took me a while to adjust to his class, but I eventually got it and enjoyed the class.
Nice & decently funny guy. PDF book is free online. Material is extremely straight forward. Test is on lockdown but all of the questions are on Quizlet. He uses TopHat to require attendance & give quiz questions. Overall extremely easy class. Would recommend
he is really nice and you can tell he loves marketing, but sometimes he just read through the PowerPoint presentation. Get ready to study a lot!! I got an A because I study a lot, I read the chapters, re-study the power points presentations, and did all the quizlet you could find. He makes class funny and enjoyable but is a lot of material
Professor Gaubert is not that hard of a professor, but the quizzes can be tricky. You might think that you are not doing as well as you actually are, because at the end of the semester he adds a lot of extra credit as well as drops your lowest quiz grade. I exempted from the final because I had enough points.
Not a great class. He regularly took attendance and participation in class through TopHat, which is a large part of your grade. He yelled my class of 200 to pay attention. Reads directly off the slides and makes you watch long videos with little tie into what you are learning. Overall decided to withdraw as his class stressed me out so much.
Can be hard to pay attention because the lectures can be very monotonous. If you read that makes it a lot easier. You have to study a lot for the tests and the average on the first test was a 73 (he was happy with that). He's super nice though if you reach out to him outside of class. Not the greatest prof. but if you put in the work it's good.
If you have the choice, DO NOT take any of his classes. He makes you take attendance through a $30 subscription on tophat along with a subscription for textbooks. Quizzes are so hard for no reason - says they are based on lectures when he only reads off his slides. From what I have heard, this is the only MKT3010 class that is not open notes.
Honestly one of the worst classes I have taken. He is disrespectful, lazy, not helpful, and likes to toy with students emotions. All of his content is taken straight of Cengage and he strictly reads of the slides with an occasional video thrown in. Tests are hard to do well on and test on every detail from every chapter.
This course changed from previous semesters. Impossible to take notes in class he goes through the slides so fast. Exams are rough and hard to know how to prepare for them. He is sarcastic, passive aggressive, and unhelpful when replying to and sending emails. Grades are super unclear and hard to calculate yourself so you never know your grade.
I don't like the quizzes or tests at all as they are always scenario-based, have multiple possible answers for them, and have hard/specific quizzes and tests questions/answers. He doesn't really go into depth with lectures and reads very fast. You have to use stupid tophat that's part of the grade. It might be either him or the course that's hard.
Don't take this professors class. He will not respond to any of your emails, makes test questions very difficult, almost to the point where you have to memorize the wording of the textbook. He repeatedly changed his grading procedures and was very unclear about it. He will also lie in class about things and is unorganized take a different mkt3010.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF U WANT AN EASY MKT 3010 CLASS. He reads slides so fast that u don't even have time to type notes. Exams are extremely difficult & taken w/ Lockdown+Webcam, questions on exams are so specific that studying won't even help, & he doesn't respond to emails. I can't emphasize enough how much I don't recommend James Gaubert.
A disorganized class with a professor that never responded to emails. I do not want to go into detail, but this is by far the most challenging professor for an intro to marketing class. Exams are tough, and you have ten seconds to answer in-class questions about things discussed a week ago during the lecture, which are incredibly fast-paced.
a really caring prof if you give him the respect he deserves. was harder for me being a freshman in this class not knowing what to expect. his quizzes & tests are lockdown+webcam and LOADS of material on each test so be prepared to study hard. gives a few extra points and is very easy to do. even tho i struggled at first, will be taking him again.
Lectures the whole class. Disrespectful to students.
boy is this man a piece of work. makes you buy tophat (which is $30) for 2 in class questions a week. very passive aggressive and thinks that a 65 class average is "good" so that he doesn't feel bad about his poor teaching. i would not take this guy for any marketing class if you can help it.
Terrible. Stay far far away. He is the only MKT 3010 professor that does NOT allow open note exams. He makes this class so much harder than it should be. This class should not be hard. He makes it as hard as possible. Attendance is mandatory because you check in on TopHat and have a pop quiz every class. Do not take his class. Take anyone else.
Do not take this if you want an easy class. He reads directly from the slides in class, and the tests have a ton of information. He never responds to emails and genuinely does not take the time to explain the material. Please try to get someone else for your own sake.
Professor Gaubert tries to go through over 60 slides during the class and doesn't explain concepts well. He also tests on things on the textbook. I had to take all notes at home as well as read because he flew through the slides so fast in class. Lots of outside work is needed if you want to succeed.
James Gaubert does not care about his students and it is obvious by the way he does not respond to student emails and the way that he rushes through the powerpoints without teaching the topics and chapters in depth. I do not recommend this teacher to any future students and hope that another professor has open spots in their class instead of James.
He is a lazy teacher. He flies through PowerPoints and just reads off them. Never take the time to explain topics thoroughly. He rarely answers emails. I emailed him twice this year, and he never replied.
One of the worst professors I have ever had. Take this class asynchronously. I don't know why this guy is such a big name in the business school, as he could not care less about his students. His lectures are cruel and unusual punishment (he just likes to hear himself talk). Attendance is mandatory but the lectures are useless. tests are impossible
Professor Gaubert is a nice guy, but the lectures were hard to get through. The powerpoints were like 60 slides packed with words. I had to do a lot of outside work for this class, but he does offer extra credit and participation points. The exams are lockdown browser with camera while all the other mkt classes do open note.
Worst professor ever. Does not care about students at all other than putting them down and making them feel bad. Class work is not beneficial, and he does not email back to anything.
All around weird guy. Makes you feel uneasy in class with his comments. Not a great teacher either. Would not recommend to anyone who doesn't want their professor to shove his opinions down your throat.
Professor Gaubert is a good professor. He is very kind and makes an effort to connect with his students. This class mainly consisted of a semester-long project and three exams. The one negative thing I will say is that he is not very good about responding to any emails. Overall though, nice guy with lots of relevant experience.
To begin, Prof Gaubert was a fairly nice guy but I don't think that makes up for my overall experience during this class. All of our classes (outside of presentation day) ended fairly shortly so most lectures I had to learn outside class time. Tests were also fairly hard to prepare for and tricky at times. Also, Prof Gaubert is hard to contact.
He is a lazy professor and a weird guy. his "lectures" are him reading off PowerPoints and showing YouTube videos. His exams were hard to prepare due to his teaching. He never responds to emails and is difficult to get in contact with. Would show up to class late and unprepared. Not trying to be rude but I do not understand his good ratings
Professor Gaubert's class is a mixed bag. While his lectures can be dry, using unstuck study and the textbook helped me stay on top of the material. He doesn't always respond to emails, but overall he's a decent professor if you put in the effort.
He is a great teacher who really cares about his students. Tests are easy as long as you study and you have group projects that do not take up much of your time. I would definitely take him again, but attendance does count towards your grade.
Really sweet professor and funny guy. You can tell he cares. One group project that runs throughout the semester but its not hard. Study whats in the slides for exams and you will be fine. Lets out early almost every class.
Gaubert reads right from the slides and once he's done, he lets you leave. We were never in class longer than 40 minutes. There's a semester long group project, but it isn't bad! You will have to teach yourself everything for the exams, but if you study the PowerPoint slides and know them in detail, you will get an A!
He's definitely a nice man and the class is super easy. However his powerpoints are so disorganized and he literally just reads directly off of them. Sometimes class will only last 10 minutes which is an annoyance if you're coming to his class if it's the first of the day, because it feels like a waste. There's one big group project at the end too
MKT 3030 with professor Gaubert is a pretty easy class! He is a nice guy. He just reads straight off the slides in class so the lectures aren't the most engaging, but it's whatever. You're graded by a few projects and exams but the projects are easy and if you study the slides, the exams aren't bad. I would recommend professor Gaubert
Professor Gaubert is super kind and knowledgeable. He's accessible outside of class for questions and cares to help students. The class is four tests, two simulations, and a group project.
