GREAT Teacher, would recommend to anyone.
Very Good Math Teacher. Trust Me. Easy to understand. has a lesson plan and sticks to it.
He is sooo hot. He makes the class worth going to....that is if your not distracted by his looks.
hahahaha! nice joke on the hotness... i'm taller than him, and i'm only 5 feet tall. lol. anyway, he is a good teacher, very intelligent and is willing to help anyone who asks. tests are a little tough- you have to study.
Awful teacher! Hates answering questions and this class w/ him requires much more dedication then a class at a community college needs.. (Only truthful comment)
Treats people like they are stupid and moves way to fast.hard tests.
He likes to catch students in traps. It's a game math teachers commonly like to play, but he does it well. For instance, he'll explain a simple concept in class, but on the test, he'll present it in such a way that you've never seen. Otherwise, he seemed like a nice guy.
Hes a decent teacher knows whats going on and gives good examples I suggest you take him if possible.
Worst teacher of all time. Goes off on tangents 24/7 and makes extremely confusing tests. Does the best he can to trick everyone and expects that everyone should be a math major. This is the only math class I ever had trouble in.
He tells you exactly how it is going to be. is always helpful and available in helping with any questions.
He was so hard! He is always trying to trick you.
Professor Graziose was the best math teacher I ever had. He was always very kind to me and always helped me when I needed help. He was also available when I needed him and he would always say hi to me in the hallways. If you want an intelligent and respectful math professor, take his class! He is the best! =0)
He was so hard and moved so quickly I couldn't follow. I ended up dropping his class.
Terrible, Grandios should be his name Teacher. Doesn't let you succeed. Throws questions at you from other math classes. Seeks to show you that he's good at math and you are not. You can see the chip on his shoulder from orbit. Take him if you feel like being perplexed at how somebody could be so arrogant and UNFAIR.
His profession may be in mathmatics, but it is surley not teaching it!! he is constantly trying to prove you wrong and not willing to help you try to find theanswer. Very impatient It's only college algebra, his teaching makes it feel like and advanced rocket science course. class material rarely relates to test Q's. Worst teacher i've ever had :(
I think he is a good teacher with good notes! He is hard in the sense that he really makes you think, but that is what he wants! You have to have a good understanding in the class to go on to higher classes and that is does makes you have a good understanding. GOOD TEACHER!!
Definately have to study, very straightforward method of teaching, cannot afford to slack because everything gradually accumulates..its just unfortunate that he gets a "kick" out of tricking students... usually not the case for most teachers.. if you take him he will mention over 100 examples of how he tricks his calc2&3 classes, and probably ours.
the tests are difficult, but fair, he does treat students well but as little kids. The class is difficult to began with, but if you are at this level, you are probably determined and smart, oh for those in survey, come on! its survey of calc its mad easy, dont complain, all of u are business majors (the easiest major out there) hehehe
Awesome teacher. explained things thouroughly and made sure everyone understood it. does try to trick you but if you pay attention youll do just fine. when i took the class at fau i had to drop it because my grade was so low but got an A in this class. would recommend him.. very nice guy.
Very easy...two take home exams, excercises in the other exams are from the book and he enjoys what he does
Teacher is good at what he teaches. But, he has a tendency of grading the test very hard... everything you do wrong is a point off or 3 points off or 2 pts off. Its always many points off. Pretend you spell your name wrong. 3 points off! lol* seriously, if you take this teacher- be ready to be evaluated by every little point. even the .5 point!!!
Really Cool teacher a little fast but he is good!
great teacher but hard if you don't keep up
dude can teach!
SUCH a good teacher. I struggle with math and he made everything so clear. You do have to keep up with the class just like any math. But he is nice, extremely patient, and answers all questions. He also extremely clear in what he teaches and teaches step by step on the board. Highly recommend him as a teacher.
Head of Math Dept. for a reason. He knows his stuff! Very nice and helpful teacher. Will go over anything and doesnt ever seem frustrated. He teaches alot ofclasses I had him for intermediate alg. He surely sets oyu up nicely for coll. alg. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN. HE IS ALL AROUND A GREAT GUY. ONLINE HW.
please do not take this class! take another teacher! I wanted to learn but no learning was recieved..once ur lost he keeps moving on and not addressing the subject! please do not take thanks
The message below is a lie! I am taking the same class, he is a great teacher! He explains every detail, very logical, clear, teaches the concepts. He gives wonderful handouts, that supplement the book just wonderfully. I highly recommend him!
Very good guy and a teacher. Although he is a good teacher he trys to trick you on certain things such as labeling, how you write your answers. The class is not that bad if you have a calculator.

Not an easy class. If looking for an easy A and algebra isn't a strong point, do not take!! He will not assist with questions you may have about algebra (feels you should know by heart before coming to his class). Is a nice guy, but very difficult. Should not be teaching at a community college level class. Final exam is cummulative and difficult!
Prof. G is the man. Best math teacher at the school. I was horrible at math (had to take 3 prep classes) n as soon as I took him for college alg. I understood math for the 1st time. Once I got to stats with him it was a breeze. I got a B and I didn't have to try hard at all. He lets u use sci. calculators n thoroughly teaches u how to use them.
This is the worst teacher at PBCC. He is very unhelpful and really doesn't care if stduences learn. Hands down worst teacher I have ever had.
Professor Graz is the best math teacher I have ever had. Everyone I know agrees. He set me up wonderfully for college algebra, which unfortunately I couldn't take with him because he didn't teach it =( but his notes are unbelievably organized. He breaks everything down and makes math simple. I'm taking him for Calc and Stat, put it that way.
The BEST math teacher I have ever had by far. He is extremely nice, friendly, and willing to help any student succeed. Math is not my strong subject and he taught me so much in a way that was easy to understand. The tests he gives are always on what he taught and if you study everything you learn in class you will get a high grade.
This is my testimony about James Graziose:He is one of the best teachers I've ever seen. the way that he explains with a lot of passion, he sounds that he the creator of the mathematics. I drop his class because I change my major.
This is my testimony about James Graziose:He is one of the best teachers I've ever seen. the way that he explains with a lot of passion, he sounds that he the creator of the mathematics. I drop his class because I change my major.
Easy teacher...explains everything in class and then has 5 tests on it...no surprises, no **** homeworks....cut and dry
In the begining I didnt like him. He makes the first test extremely hard to scare off students who don't want to be there. Once the first couple of weeks pass, everything is fine so stick it out. Do your homework, if he sees you are trying, he will do anything to help you. If you dont, he wont. It's a hard class, so you have to do your part.
Other comments mention this professor is tricky for a cause. Try to take other prof if poss. He makes an effort to show he knows how to read his notes (not that he knows the subject). He does have a good course structure and if you study hard u prob pass with B. Ridicules the studends who try to participate in class so dont bother.
if you are good in math i would recommend taking him. if you are not good in math dont even bother with this guy. he doesnt really help you out and he acts like he is better than anyone! he is a real smart ass! i didnt like his teaching style at all. if you know the matrial you are golden.
He taught 1 section at FAU and he was so easy and so nice!! I would highly recommand him as a teacher
I got an A in College Algebra at PBCC. I have less than a 60% in this calc class; I am forced to drop it because the class is getting harder and the final is comprehensive. Don't waste your money; take someone else. He is very unclear when he teaches and he holds conversations with himself in class. He wastes more than half of the class doing so.
Very difficult class! Quizzes and Tests are very hard!! Unless you study your ass off you def will not pass!
he goes off on tangents alot, but he explains the material well, will show many examples, and tells you how many of each type of problem will be on the test. He will answer any questions during office hours and is very understanding. You should know algebra before taking this! It is not his fault if you don't! Summer session, so it moved fast.
Professor Grazios is a very nice man. He will help you alot if you go to his office hours. I got a tutor for this class so this was the only way I am passing the class. Otherwise the summer is very fast paced and you can't really pick up the information over six weeks. Take him if your good in math.
I guess you either love him or you don't. I love him. Math is more clear than it has ever been. He explains complicated concepts really effectively and gives you clear step-by-step patterns to follow when approaching problems. I was nervous about math, now I look forward to it. This guy not only knows his stuff, he can really teach it.
Very fun, and makes math more understandable!!!!
I had Mr. Graziose for high school Algebra 2 and he will help you if you go to him. He does know his stuff and for those who complain aboutit being hard. Welcome to college!!!!! No more spoon feeding, you are now expected to do it on your own. Good Luck to you and you rock Mr. G!!!yh
had him for algebra. most of the work was online. homeworks were due after we took the test. homeworks were much harder than test. he was very helpful. just do the work and the tests will come naturally to you. he always takes the time to answer questions. im taking him again for stat
he is such a bad teacher, i can't stand him and dread every day that i have to go to class. he doesn't explain anything to you and goes incredibly fast, i have never had a bad grade in math, and im prob. failing his class.
i took calculus and couldnt pass his college algebra class. he sucked in my opinion. but hes one of those love them or hate them teachers. i hated him
I had him for College Algebra. He is a really nice guy and teaches everything very well. Even if you're not good in math all you have to do is approach him after class and he will explain it to you (more than you would need too). If you looking for an easy A w/o doing anything then this class is not for you... neither is college.
i like the way he teaches, and if you need help he's always available during office hours, etc. math is just a subject that you need to keep working on and for ppl who complain that you need to study and do hw to pass his class...um...duh? definitely taking him again for calculus next semester.
Don't take him unless you're good in math: he has little patience, doesn't like questions, gives tests that are very hard. Full of himself (Mr. Know-It-All) likes to "fly off on a tangent" about subjects related to math that have nothing to do with what you need to know for the class! I got a B with lots of tutoring-goodbye $$$, no life, hard work!
He is very impatient, completely unorganized and totally off his rocker. He never helps. DONT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!
The students who hate him are all the same: He just doesn't have any patience for students trying to slide by, make excuses, not show up, not do their work, then complain that they didn't get it/pass. If you're interested in learning, you won't find a more helpful teacher. You will absolutely have to put in a little effort though. Shocking, I know.
I am taking him now, spring 2009, and Ican honestly tell you that he is an great teacher. He does not lecture but gives notes and relates the topics to the real world so that everyone can understand. Tests are easy, ONLY IF YOU STUDY! Plus he makes its clear that if you do the homework it can boost you one letter grade (mymathlab).
He is such a great person and teacher. He will go out of his way to help you and is always offering his time during office hours. I took this class over the summer and I am thankful that he was my teacher.
I didn't like grasioze at first, but as the classes went on I started to really like him. He says weird things while teaching, but he makes you laugh. The tests aren't so bad, but you MUST study for them! He really likes teaching and he is good at what he does. I like him!
horrible teacher.. said he was going to give a curve on some tests and quizes, ..he never did. Gave us study guides for tests and quizes,..the material in the study guide was not in the test or quizes. final exam was extremly difficult. Seems to be holding a negative vandetta against transient students, thus making the class extremly difficult...
Loved him for precalc. He was so funny and passionate about his work. Awesome teacher! I learned so much in a very simple way. TAKE HIM!
He was extremely nice and was very helpful and he is understanding.
great professor. He makes the material sink in. I wouldn't take math with anyone else. It's a challenge, but its not too hard as to stop anyone from passing.Great professor. I recommend anyone to take him, but you cannot be lazy.
This is my first time withdrawing out of a class, i couldn't take his class. He is very rude, and when you ask him a question. He makes you feel so dumb. Missing one class, is like you going to get an "F" on the upcoming test. He goes so fast, you have to be good at math to get what he saying
He is a great professor. Explain very thing clearly. Test is kind of toughing and challenging but if study enough,in what he taugh in class, you will pass the test. Highly recomment for who is like math.:)
you will not pass this class.
This is COLLEGE, what do u expect? An easy math teacher lol. I had him and I got a B+ and I dont like MATH. I could of got an A if i studied more. DO ALL the H.W and every problem he assigns. Try to be there every class. He knows his stuff and is very wise. He only uses the board. We only had 5 tests and thats your grade. Study and you will pass.
I have him for Pre-calc and I don't think he tries to trick his students. He tries to challenge them instead. what's the point of taking such a high class if you're just gonna expect a teacher to give you an A. In his class, you have to work hard to get an A. He gives a study sheet with how many questions are in each section of the final.
Took him for calculus about 11 years ago. I went on to get my BS and MS in EE at UF. Now I work at a National Lab in New Mexico. Do you work in his class and you will be well ahead of your peers when you move on to the next level.
Clear and detailed. No complaints. Just do not cram your HW, that's all!!!! Don't cram, pay attention, do HW and you will get an A or B easy.
VERY helpful! Super nice and really clear when he teaches. Reviews with you until you have a real understanding. Go to class, take notes, & do the homework. Got a C- but that was because of first test grade- from there it got a lot easier
He is the guy, that doen't make a math class bored. Graziose, very funny .
nice guy, but expects you to know too much info. exams are way too hard. goes over new material for a test almost the day before the scheduled test. He points out things on the board and confuses you by talking into space about things students don't really care about. He expects you to learn as he did when he was in school.
Dropped the class. Moves too fast. Expects you to know everything.
Great teacher he is very helpful if you do you homework and pay attention then the tested are a breez.
Great teacher! Always very clear about what was on the test. DO THE HOMEWORK... he puts the same questions on the test, sometimes even the same numbers.
Awesome teacher! Super helpful and definitely knows what he's talking about. Basically does every homework problem with you in class. Gives a review sheet before every test and lets you make up hw before the final. Definitely need to study but good class
If you attend his class on a regular basis, passing it is guaranteed. May be even an A.
He is such a great professor! Differential Equations is a tough course, and the tests were kinda difficult, but if you study VERY HARD, pay attention, and write notes in class, you can ace this class! I would definitely take him for other math classes if he teaches them :)
Great guy, really funny, but not the best teacher. I had to withdraw from the class because there was no chnace of me passing. He makes the first test hard to see who really wants to be there, but the rest are a easier. His biggest problem is that he expects you to know pretty much everything the second you walk in the door. Would not recommend.
I love this teacher! He is so funny and a good teacher. If you have questions he actually answers them. Most people would probably say "I dropped because he isn't a great teacher" well that's wrong! You have to give effort in order to pass this class. He is a good teacher and he has an S.I. For this course so there's no excuse to NOT pass!
Slackers stay out. If you are truly interested in pursuing a mathematical or engineering career Professor Graziose is THE BEST. The class is challenging and the professor sets you up for success if that is truly what you are seeking. Took Algebra, Calc2, and will aim to take DE and Calc3 as well.
He is a great professor! He is very helpful, and knows his subject. Also,he highly encourages you to study which made me feel really good! I love him!
So i am near the end of the semester. The tests are hard, studying is a must his lectures give you everything you need to know for the test. you just have to make sure to take notes. He loves to see students put the effort in and attend! if you do he will help you any way he can. he actually knows how to answer questions and explain.
He is an awesome teacher!!! I definitely recommend you take his class. He teaches well and is very laid-back. I admit his tests are a little hard, so just study his notes and you should do fine. I plan on taking this professor for other math classes because he was that great.
Best teacher ever
Awesome lectures, just be careful on the tests they are EXTREME. I think the only problem with him is that in lectures he gives easy examples but on the test he goes really beyond anything we covered in class. i think he is the only one that has high standards of PBSC students. Wish everyone was like him. Prepares you for the future
Great professor, but pretty difficult for PBSC standards. If you don't know every single detail by the time a test rolls around, you can expect a C. Most important advice I can give: TAKE THE FIRST TEST SERIOUSLY! It'll be the difference between a B and an A.
I took the once a week hybrid course, DO NOT take that if you have a choice, it was super rough. He looks for full comperhention in the material. You can pass, but you must work for your grade.
The professor is quite tough, but if you enjoy a challenge, or simply want to learn the material he's a great choice. He can be quite vague at times, and often expects you to do your own learning at times, so expect to be teaching yourself either with the book, or watching youtube videos. Study often, and understand the hw, and you'll do fine.
I took his class for Algebra class as well as the math lab. I went to class everyday, did my homework and he still failed me.. He didn't even give me A "D" he simply failed me... I do not recommend this teacher. The tests aren't multiple choice. He expects you to know everything. You have to show work in everything.
The homework is good practice, he's helpful and very thorough. Doesnt make u memorize formulas but definitely makes you work for ur grade. I studied a lot just to pass the class. The only complaint i have is questions on the test does not match with the verbage on the homework, which made the test very confusing to break down.
He goes through the homework step by step as his teaching procedure so if you miss a class, you're not going to be on top of it. The information seems simple but the tests are more difficult than the homework. Overall good teacher, just wants to see you making an honest effort. Average mid D (horrid test scores), 100pts for attendance and passed.
Very tough, but you spend time to study, you will surely ace the class. He tells you whats on the test a day before. He can be vague, but if you repeat the question like 3 times, he will understand. He gives you partial credit, just study. Also, questions on the tests are straight up mechanics questions like: Solve this, evaluate that, etc...
DONT do it. He is terrible. He doesn't help you. His lessons are confusing. You will more than likely have to teach yourself the material. He goes off on stupid rants and belittles you whenever he can. He talks to the class as if we were all 5 years old. He is the strangest professor I've had so far. Don't take him if you can choose someone else.
Anyone rating this guy highly clearly took an easy class with him. Any class that is actually difficult on it's own will be a nightmare with this guy. Seriously save your gpa, and pick any other teacher
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR -makes test so hard and confusing -no extra credit and he doesn't drop any of your test
His class is not easy, but I have no doubt his class will serve as a strong foundation for my future, considering I'll be taking almost every math class the school offers. You will have to work hard to get an A, if that's your goal. But if he sees you put the work in, he will have your back and help you any way he can.
wow I cant believe all the bad comments from people that want an easy A. If you are lazy and do not keep up with your studying you wont like any professor. It is your responsibility to keep up with the material for crying out loud. Study and dont complain and you ll pass. The professor is great. Would take again.
He is great. Very helpful. Plus he is super funny.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!! he truly cares about his students and does his best to help the student. Did all my homework and I had a borderline grade in his class but I was able to pass. Professor graziose is very nice and caring if you are willing to try your best and show him you will pass this class! Do not texts in class and always show up! THE BEST!
DO NOT TAKE HIM if you're trying to be good at math.I took Calculus 1 with him, he doesn't let you use calculator on tests where you obviously need it and says "use your brain" "they don't let you use calculators in universities." So not only the tests he makes are hard and tricky, but he wants you to waste time by not using calculators.
Well, I have my own ups and downs regarding this teacher. First 3 weeks I felt he is too much and lectures were unclear. However, once you get used to him, Prof. Jim is actually not bad. Do homework and he gives review sheet for test and doubles your highest test. Always helps with any questions and just be nice to him.
I took a very difficult class, calculus 2 with him and it has been the hardest, yet best class I have taken. He makes sure that you know the material well and that youre completely (maybe even overly) prepared for the next class. If you are good at math and want a challenge and excellent instruction, I highly suggest. If youre lazy, stay away.
Overall, very nice math teacher. He is lecture heavy and WILL take the whole hour and forty minutes to lecture but its only because he tries to go over every question on the homework. If you get a question wrong on a test he'll usaully give you 1 or 2 points for showing work.
The hardest professor ever. He tries to make your life difficult, he will even say it on the first day, " I'm gonna make the test as hard as i can, I promise you within the first 4 weeks half of the class will withdraw".
Very funny, great lectures, gives you some multiple choices on test, gives you credit on your work even if you got the answer wrong on a test. Very approachable.
When I first started this class. Immediately thought, I have to get out of here. Turns out this Professor cares about your grade, though he is lecture heavy, it helps on the test. He doubles the highest test grade so try to do well!
Attendance wasnt mandatory because it didnt matter if you went to class or not ... this teacher rants about things that have nothing to with the course material. If you are not good at math or cant teach yourself algebra , do not take this class you wont be learning anything from the teacher
If you care about being good at math take this class. His tests are the appropriate level of difficulty to survive in future math/science courses. Overall, he is very good at teaching and his tests are similar to the homework. Be careful for the first test, it catches most people off guard.
Horrible professor, gets off topic all class, doesn't explain things well enough (which math is hard enough as it is without your professor not being able to teach you), calls you out and makes you feel badly if you don't answer correctly. No review for the tests and all around bad class.
Def stay away from this class if you have a full time job or C in calc1 he did tell us he will make the test as hard as he can. After we took our first test almost half the class didn't come back not even to pick up their test to see their grade. Most of the time no one ask questions because he will make you look stupid. at time very unprofessional
This is a tough class, do not take it unless you already have a solid foundation in algebra and trig. He assigns homework, but doesn't check it. Do it anyway, his tests are tough and some of the questions come straight from the book. Work hard, pay attention during the lectures, ask questions, and study your butt off and you will pass.
Professor Graziose is one of the best math professors I have ever had, though this class is definitely one you need to work for. This class will make you know your stuff inside and out. Do all of the HW problems he recommends a few times and you will pass.
difficult but nice. If you try your best to get an A in his class, you will be the king of mathematics
If you learn quickly and just want to move on then he is not the professor for you. There is only 4 - 5 grades for his entire class and he does not respond well to emails. Most of his classes he took an hour and a half to cover 3 - 5 questions. His tests are nothing like his reviews and you're never fully prepared for a test.
I had to drop this prof in the middle of the semester. I thought I could hang in there and just study harder but no. He wants to make you look stupid in lecture. Tests are always harder than the practice problem he gives you. I did all the practice problems (got all of them right) and studied for hours and I still would do terrible. DO NOT TAKE HIM
Don't bother with this professor and take another one. You only have exams as your grade and he doesn't drop the lowest one. All he does in his lectures is a few problems from the book and assigning you "homework" (no credit) with questions from the book. Makes the exams way harder than needed as well. No reviews for the exams, you're on your own.
On the contrary to other reviews, I really enjoyed Professor Graziose. I feel like he may seem vague to other people, but I feel like he speaks in a really abstract way so you actually have to really pay attention to what he is saying to understand. Really fast grader, and he truly just wants to help us. 10/10 would take again.
This man makes things so difficult. Even with working hard, doing homework, going to tutoring, and even taking off work sometimes to study I was still between a B and a C. Graded only by 3 tests and a final. Tests are super difficult most of the class fails them. Gave us 1 pop quiz for extra credit and our final was a take home. dont recommend.
Prof Graziose needs time to get use too. Despite what everyone says, his tests are very doable; you actually have to understand what you are learning and combine lessons for a single problem. If you just want to memorize and forget, do NOT take this class. However, he is very approachable and fair. You know what is to be expected, so just be ready.
Professor Graziose is one of the nicest professors out there. He is willing to spend extra time after class for you if you are confused about something. All of the problems on the tests are EXACTLY like the hw assignments (Disclaimer: You have to do the hw!!). Take his class if you plan on taking higher level math courses in the future!
