he only had ONE day of office hours and other than that and class time you wouldnt hear from him. all the exams are essays and they arent something you can just guess on. also, Packback assignments are a NIGHTMARE, im not sure if he even gets the tech. however, he does make the boring content interesting because of his behavior and way of teaching.

you only do 3 papers with him, however, the final paper can consist from 10-15 papers that is how much you have to type which you get to pick but it is hard to type as well, especially if you're not that skilled at writing. On the other side of the coin however, he does try his best to establish the foundations of your writing career

James Guilfoyle is very knowledgeable and passionate which helps. He does a lot of mini assignments that you shouldn't skip out on (this was my biggest regret in his class). He is pretty easy and though his tests are challenging they aren't anything too crazy. He values critical thinking and bold intellectual stances.

Dr. Guilfoyle was honestly so good. He's very very very lecture heavy, but if you take notes and actually pay attention a little bit it, it's not hard. Packbacks are not as bad as people make them out to be. You have 3 test the entire semester and they're all the same set up.

Lectures are helpful and very useful when it comes to exams same goes for the textbook, reading are not mandatory but it was helpful to have the textbook and use it. Exams were writing heavy and graded based on specific dates and location relevant to the information at the time of the test. Other grades were history workshops and discussion posts.

Needs little to no introduction, is an amazing professor and highly regarded around university. He is extremely passionate about the material and creates the whole curriculum hisself. His lectures are some of the most interesting that I've had, and the work is promoting discussion and tests are analyzation of terms. Very inspirational and memorable

Prof. Guilfyole while being a nice person is way to passionate about history. He excepts all of his students to be just as passionate about history as he is.. He gives ZERO extra credit at all as he thinks it's for middle school aged kids. His exams are written and excepts you to know upwards of 60 terms and their dates and every person involved.

Professor Guilfoyle loves to lecture and confuse you by going off-topic multiple times.his lectures. You can reach out to him and hear back multiple days later. Exams are written and he wants you to write about the topics EXTENSIVELY. He thinks that turning in things late and extra credit is for elementary school. DO NOT TAKE.

DO NOT TAKE! He will never respond to your emails or if he does it's weeks later. He will walk away from you while you're talking to him. He is old and doesn't understand technology. Exams are written and you have to know 72 terms fully but, you write an essay for only 5 of them. If you do take him make sure that you turn in your packbacks.

He will not post the notes until way after we have completed them in class. There is very little notice before extra assignments are due. The tests are very hard. He often teaches off the top of his head without referring to his notes which then leads to a lot of confusion.

Is he older, and not super tech savvy sure. Does he give paper tests that are a little annoying, sure. But in my personal opinion, I think he is the most unironically funniest person I have ever met. I can't even describe how funny he is, he just is. If you like history and have a basic understanding of it, than you'll be fine.

As mentioned he is older and isn't very tech savvy. Notes are posted in canvas weeks later, and can be confusing if you weren't listening/present in class. Test are difficult and written so you must study. Minimum homework, a weekly discussion post and documents to answer every 2 weeks. If you REALLY love history, this is a class for you.

Pretty easy online history. Had to complete a pearson chapter each week, along with a packback assignment question and 2 responses. Midterm and final exam is a timed essay. Would recommend this class to someone who needs and easy elective.

I want to start out by saying I'm not into history, so this could be me. I was expecting a multiple choice exam for the midterm, but it was a paper. You only have 2 hours to do the paper (prompt is posted at a specific time). Sometimes it's frustrating because he doesn't seem to get the dates right for pearson, but he will change the date.

Honestly if you show up and take notes you'll be fine! I would say there is a lot of memorization for this course (specifically timelines) but he gives a lot of room for error. This class is very lecture heavy so be prepared for that, but the concepts are not hard.
