Wonderful teacher who is very unbiased. Also incredibly intelligent and is well versed with what is happening in the world and what could help foreighn countries. Has studied South Africa a lot. Much of the course is spent learning about the Fed.
Great teacher who cares very much about his students well being. You will work hard in this class, but you will also learn a lot. This class is an A+ in my book for those who are really considering a university education after the community college.
wow, if you don't study...you will fail miserably. no beating around the bush. you will learn alot but prepare for a low ass grade if you mess around. university-military style teaching...he's a nice guy though :)

Simply the BEST. Like he said, you will learn more from him than some prof. in UW. I'm in UW now and I can testify. Do need to study! Seems like no one can out debate him! Superbly intelligent and funny. Has his own style! Simply DAMN GOOD!
You need to do all the readings, especially the Wall Street Journals and take copious notes. This is a hard class but well worth taking. You'll learn things you'll keep with you for a good portion of your life and see things in a different light.
BOOOO!!!! He's mean. And I can't believe someone described him as UNBIASED!! I mean, were you even in his class?? Don't you remember all that bell curve crap? Yeah.... totally unbiased.
Best Econ Teacher EVER. Hard, but if you want to learn, you will. Made me want to major in Economics. The world needs more teachers like him. Do not expect an easy A, but you will succeed if you go to class every day and do the readings. I think everyone should take his class.
One day, two young men began to speak at the same time. Hubert suggested that, in order to determine who would go first, they arm wrestle. Take this class!
He is teaching concept rather than ask you to calculate. Is good to have the basic concept.
Take this class from this guy. PLEASE. I loved listening to his lectures. Hard teacher but he is totally worth it. I love how he gets everything totally riled.
Teaches the philosophy behind ecomonics. This is something you don't get at UW, which is terribly unfortunate. I'm nearly completed with an undergradate econ degree, entirely inspired by hubert. I'm going to grad school. This man changed my life. Also a little bit too libertarian and oversimplifies some situations, but still gets the econ across.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. I had to study a lot, but the way he explained things made it all so clear. He taught me how much the world is truly ruled by economics.

Hubert is extremely intimidating. I was interested in the subject but was unable to follow along with his fast pace. Very demanding teacher, but very good.

Hubert is tenure and knows it so he doesn't take****. Do the work and you'll do fine. Argue with him if you disagree (he likes that), but know your stuff. Ask for extra quizzes - he will give them and it betters your odds.
An actual conservative at Seattle Central! his harsh nature, and vauge "catch up" teaching style undermine the actual quality in his teaching, and thus it sails over the head of 75% of his class that are just fillin their q requirement.
I thought mr. huberts class was incredibly engaging however i was annoyed by the extent of his midterm and final! hubert explained his material thouroughly but expected his students to remember all the readings for the midterm and final! that sucked
BEST CLASS I HAVE TAKEN AT SCCC. One of the few exceptional professors at our school. Student?s who don?t like Hubert often fall under two categories: lazzy student?s who struggled with his class or insecure liberals who refused to consider other perspect
One of the best teacher that i have ever had, i did not know anything about economy before this teacher but if you are lazy or don't like reading it will be hard for you the bottom line is if you want to succeed in by the time you transfer take this class.
Hubert required the class to read these ultra-conservative opinion columns that didn’t seem to have much to do with economics. I think I received a better grade for pretending to agreed with his lame right-wing views. Worst professor at SCCC.
Great teacher, real contrast to the ultra liberal faculty at SCCC. Almost always available to chat about subject after class. A few finals and weekly tests on the reading assignments. Great prof.
good prof. very knowledgeable
Best experience of my SCCC career, easy.
Great professor, while I disagree on many grounds with him, he knows his stuff. Reading all of the assigned readings, chapters, and taking notes on them is absolutely required. He has a generally great sense of humor, and won't hesitate to subtly mock students who attempt to shade their ignorance.
Personally Hubert is the da bomb.com he wears these funny neck ties and just looks goofy, but don't get me wrong man knows what he's talkin bout
Hubes Rocks. He knows his stuff is just a cool guy all around.
I dont know what others where talking about except that Hubert does know his****. He is very smart but his views are VERY republican and bias. You have weekly 1 question quizzes that are so random. His Mid term and final were so detailed and the concepts hard to break down. Need prior knowlegde of Economics and I have****GPA of 3.8. Hard class.
Mr. Hubert is a top notch lecturer. He is very well prepared. He is however, very politically slanted to the far right. Super nice guy. Very accessible. Way too word specific on testing tho.... Overall- an excellent teacher but, you better pay attention!
Best teacher I've ever had. Taught economics like a philosophy course....a wonderful place to start with a hard topic with such wide spread implications. I subsequently majored in economics at my next school. Take this man's class, but don't slack off or you'll flunk. Don't be alarmed by his demeanor, it's the best you might ever see.
He's a great lecturer, but he takes too much pride in "instilling fear". He gives very short (1/2 to 2 minute) quizzes at least once per week, and most of them are from the articles he assigns. The midterm and final, however, were much easier in comparison -- I failed all but three quizzes, and I scored above the class average on both tests.
Hubert's class is based on his opinion and bias, with no opportunity for open discussion or debate. If you don't agree with him, you are expected to keep quiet or risk your grade.
Awful online. might be better in person. He's a very lazy communicator, often ignoring complex questions to reply to easy questions or points. Feedback is often sarcastic one liners. There's too much reliance on text. He does understand econ but his values are based from neo-con & libertarian think-tanks. Avoid online course. be ready for bias.
ALL SCCC STUDENTS TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!! Yes, Hubert is conservative, but unlike the radically left teachers that pervade SCCC, he will tell students that his views are just his opinion. The liberal faculty treat their opinions as fact! Hubert's integrity in this regard is only matched by his superb teaching style.
do all the stuff he ask, you will find his class is fun. He gave evidences and information for what he teach. Cool professors. You should take him. he gonna give you a different point of view.
Do no take this class. Nothing good will come out of it. He will teach some useful, though elementary economics (extremely little, some graphs, supply/demand etc.) Other than that, it is a constant brain wash. Whenever his narrow views are questioned, he will use his authority to make you quite. BUT, he knows economics. Some of it at least.
HE WAS A REALLY GOOD TEACHER
i love this class. you would learn a lot. as long as you're used to his teaching strategy, you'll be fine.
Mr. Hubert is a fenominal teacher. He uses stellar examples and the economic theories he teaches you just sneak up out of the casual conversation he teaches his class with. he is a bit frightening at first, but in actuality he is an understanding guy who has made it his goal to help you become a better student through and through.
IF YOUR ARE NOT SURE WHAT YOU ARE DOING IN COLLEGE, TAKE A ECONOMICS CLASS.
This teacher is uncritically biased and dogmatically teaches neoliberalism, discounting the relative elements and framing neoliberal criticism in such a way that it discredits it. Though I received a 4.0, I now understand the information I ate up in that class was built on flawed assumptions and leads to the exacerbations of existing inequalities.
Download Freedomnomics by John R Lott, Jr from the public library and if you like what you hear, Jim will lecture more of the same.
Hubert is the best teacher at Seattle Central bar none! His teaching style takes some getting used to, but he is knowledeable and you will finish his class with a better grip on the way the world works. Some students dont like him because he is the first college professor they have had that isnt a biased hard core liberal. Take ECON 201!
Show up for every class and do the work on time and you'll get a good grade in this class. He's a jackass and incredibly opinionated, but I learned a lot from his class.
Hubert's obvious political bias undermines learning. You are expected to spend 19+ hours a week on his 5 credit course alone. He is gruff, sometimes outright insulting, and takes tough teaching styles to a bad place. Students are frequently discouraged by the teacher. He seems more concerned with teaching you a lesson, rather than helping you learn
Puts some students off - those who don't take school seriously. He is perhaps "tough" but keeps all expectations clear. He encourages independent thinking and expects college-level work, which is what we're paying for, no? If you are failing, it's your fault. I had no knowledge of, nor interest in, economics before his course, it is now my passion.
This man doesn't care what he says or who it offends. He constantly berated us after the 2008 elections as being hypocrites because we elected Obama, but claimed we wanted change. He makes his disdain for Sociology and Psychology majors inescapably clear. So far I've taken nothing away from this class, except an intense hatred of Economics.
Hubert is a very hard professor. You will need to do all of the work, come to class every day, and pay attention! If you do this, and are at least of average intelligence, you will get a decent grade. One other thing about Hubert: he's very conservative (so expect political bias); however, he is a great lecturer, has a nice sense of humor, and KNOWS HIS STUFF!
Seems like a great teacher, but the quizzes seem to be the main frustration with this class. He doesn't seem to be very organized - which also get frustrating. His bias is a little hard to look past, but then again, it's just another view point. He rips on sociology a lot. Most of the quizzes are dropped so even the stupidest person could pass.
Hands down the hardest teacher at Seattle Central. His quizzes are short, but killer in the gradebook. He's there for his students if you need his help tho.
no structure in lectures. quizzes are random. does not prepare his students well enough. barely answers any question asked. takes too much pride in trying to scare his students. not really effective in "teaching." his classes depend on how he's feeling. the difficulty of the quarter solely depends on his mood and how he's feeling that particular da
Hubert's classes -- and the Paul Heyne textbook he used -- made me want to become an economist. Very pursuasive and demanding instructor. After three of his classes, I went on to earn 4.0s in a range of econ courses at the UW. Hubert prepares you for a 4-year school. Going to econ grad school in London this year, and it all started with Econ 100.
Mr. Hubert's class is the BEST I have ever had. It really changed my way of thinking. A lot of things happening around make sense now. Like the previous comments, I am earning top grades in 300-level econ courses at the UW as well, thanks to the preparation from Mr. Hubert's class.
A very good class. It is only hard if you dont show up to class, don't take notes, and don't do the readings. Basically do what is assigned and listen to everything he says. Great class
I am taking his economics class right now. Like every teacher at SCCC, his course is somewhat political. That is a problem of the school. A little conservative. He encourages students to research in class facts he gives, to not believe him. Hard quizzes if you don't know the material thoroughly. Additional class material online, its really helpful.
Hubert's presentation of economic theory is very one-sided. He is an ultraconservative Friedmanite; Supply-side neoliberalism is certainly one school of economic thought, but by no means the only one. In his defense, he tells every student to look up everything he says, and is a honestly decent guy. Not for the easily frightened or offended.
Poor communicator, self-important. I got what I wanted from this class, but only because I circumnavigated the instructor. I can forgive bias if it is at least backed up with a breadth of information that allows a student to learn beyond the bias. I don't know a better econ instructor sadly, but can't say I recommend this guy, either.
Very opinionated (and so am I) and we disagreed on a range of socio-political issues. I actually agree with his stance on minimum wage laws etc now and I cultivated a new passion for Economics after taking his class. Lots of reading but fairly doable exams.Great Professor!
Highly opinionated, and self-righteous, which made it hard for me to understand what he was teaching. Claims to treat students like adults, but in reality, he treated students like delinquents. I listened to lectures to be able to answer his quizzes, not because he made me want to understand it. If you really want to learn ECON, take someone else.
DON'T take his online class. Economics can be interesting but this is the worst online teacher I've ever had. He NEVER communicates. Not once... and he never grade or comment any homework and discussion requirements. You never know how you're doing, what's wrong or good with your work.
Don't take his class online. Almost no feedback and does not reply to emails. Graded primarily on two exams and the dearth of other work is barely evaluated; there is certainly no feedback. He is extremely conservative and will present you with entirely biased readings and doesn't balance views. Learned a lot, but found his online tone berating.
Hubert is by far the worst teacher I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. Rude, bigoted, unacceptably biased, incompetent(didn't even know what a study guide was!), NEVER helped me, and didn't communicate. I am a straight A student, never received anything lower than a B, and received a D is this class. Highly UNrecommended.
If you are a business major, or would like to do well, do not take Hubert. Econ is an interesting subject. Some of the readings he assigns will never be talked about. He will give quizzes every Friday and it will be sometimes on the most obscure detail. Take someone, ANYONE else for this subject. This class will have to become the ONLY class.

I am currently going for my Masters in Accounting, so I have taken a lot of classes. Out of all of them, Hubert is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. He is incredibly conservative, and this really affect his teaching. He's rude and overly biased. It hurts you later on when you take economics or business at a university. Terrible teacher
He is the best economic teacher in SCCC
I have been at SCCC for two years and he is the only teacher I had that I felt truly waisted my time and money. He states that he will treat you like an adult but spends half of each class time yelling at students about doing the homework. There is a professor at North Seattle that teaches a really good online course.
I have over 180 college credits and Hubert is by far the worst professor I've ever had. The midterm and final constitute the majority of the grade and these tests were composed of concepts that we barely covered in class. The text is terrible too; it's simply written in a way that fails to teach economics.
Dropped the class after the first day. He basically believes that beating people down and emotionally assaulting them is a good way to get you to think like an economist. I hear if you make it past the first day he isn't that bad, but his self-righteous (& self-centered) attitude would've driven me crazy had I stayed.
Absoultely the best teacher at Seattle Central. I was tired of the strong liberal bias in every class, Hubert was VERY refreshing in that regard. It is definately hard work. I assume most people who rate him poorly are lazy or have no tolerance for views other than their own.
Best professor at SCCC, hands down. Will help you to understand how the world really operates by thinking for yourself. Plus his bowties are just awesome. Difficult class if you're lazy. Just do the work and you will be fine.
I should have read this before signing up for this class. He really is the worst teacher I've ever had, in me entire school career. Doesn't grade the assignments that you must turn in to pass the class, offers no feedback whatsoever! 50% is the midterm, 50% is the final... and I thought I like economics before I took this class!!! OH and his lect
"Poor people should be whipped and driven out of the city."
He is a very knowlegable instructor. Follow instruction, do the work, question conventional wisdom will guarantee a good grade. I don't forget to email him of what you did for the homeworks and the your test scores.
Hubert is very insulting. He treats people with different opinions like idiots and childishly gives them low grades. He is the laziest teacher I've ever had. The only graded work he returns are two scantrons and the the 30 second Friday tests which he usually screams through. The grading consists of a poorly calculated number from 0-20.
Hubert says he 'teaches you how to think.' Maybe. But what he grades you on are all-or-nothing one-question weekly exams. One week's question might focus on major ideas, or on some minutiae, like the color of Thomas Sowell's shoelaces.A VERY interesting class - but graded in an entirely arbitrary manner. stay away if you value your gpa (or audit).
I took online class and was the worse instructor ever I had. He didn't give feedback in the assigment neither grade it. He answer question about class with yes and not, he didn't give any explanation. The book is old and bias you will need to check other book to realy understand economy. The book is older and doesnt apply to modern situation.
He never posted a single grade. He was the worst teacher I have ever had. Reasons include: little to no interaction with students. Errors on quizes, tests. Did I mention no feedback? I am still very interested in economics, not interested in ever taking another class from Jim Hubert
Mr. Hubert is by far one of the greatest professors at SCCC. He teaches students how to think for themselves. His class should not be difficult if you have a pretty good understanding of the English language. Show up to class, read the assigned articles, study for the exams and ask questions. If your lazy, and don't like a challenge, don't bother.
VERY knowledgeable, kind of an old fashioned teacher with strict rules/expectations. Hard class (he suggests you drop everything else in life) but you will come out a lot better for it.
Best teacher at SCCC, like previous commentors, I went on to the UW and excelled in a number of varied economics courses. The comments from the let's-all-hug-and-sing-Kumbaya-while-distributing-the-wealth crowd are understandable. There's a difference between how the world should work and how it actually works. Hubert teaches the latter, take him!
He is a great example of what a Business Prof @ UW Foster is like. Learn nothing & Lack of organization and teaching.
He is a really good teacher. If you want to study Economics for fun, don't take him. But If you think of Economics seriously and want to understand it, he is the only one that can explain. Economics is very hard itself, not many teacher can make you understand. Test bases on the question he gave you in the text book for homework.
I took his class for both Micro and Macro. His teaching is so through that when I come back to Western University to finish my degree 6 years later, my economic knowledge still as sharp like a razor thanks to his rigorous economic drills. Beware of his conservative view regarding on economic, not all public policies mean dead weight losses.
Great teacher. Holds students accountable and demands that you participate and engage in the class. If you do the readings and take decent notes during lecture, you should do well. Comes off as strict and mean, but is very approachable and cares very much about the subject.
This class is very interesting, with thought-provoking material, however it is presented in a pompous way. The work level is a little ridiculous, but you learn a lot and I do recommend it for anyone, especially those going into either business or politics. Tough class but good experience.
If this is your first time to take ECON in your life, don't take it with him. all his methods are rule of thumbs, sometimes discourage students. for me he better be perfect if he was somewhere in insurance company or so than teaching.
though his views go against many of his colleagues at the school, and certainly the students; he sticks to them. Great teacher that isn't willing to let too much slide even though it is a community college
Prof. Hubert is very interesting teacher. Hubert does not bend to public opinion. You are able to speak your mind and you will hear his opinion. You must go to class if you want a good grade. You must put in the work. If you do this you will get a lot out of the class i highly recommend this survey course and I plan on taking his other econ class
Hubert is a very opinionated person. I took his Macroeconomics course and learned tons of information. His weekly quizzes were a nice way to keep on his students and make sure they're learning the material. He's a good teacher, but do not take this class if you're looking for an easy a or b.
Fantastic teacher. Really happy I had him early on, helped set me up for my entire school experience. He sounds very hard, but as long as you stick out the class and study for the midterm and final there is no reason you shouldnt at least get a 3.0. Also remember he does grade on a curve and the average is a 3.0
I went into this class with a high level of interest in the subject and left it feeling as if I learned nothing. I had no idea how to respond to his assignments, as many of them were statements rather than questions. He also gave very vague feedback on graded assignments. I will definitely NOT take ECON 202 next quarter, as I had planned.
HEED THIS ADVICE: If you're starting your first quarter at Seattle Central. Take Econ 100 first if you're willing to. Econ 201 & 202 will be a lot easier if you took Econ 100. You'll learn Professor Hubert's expectations and tricks. Econ 100 is basically 201 & 202 squished together. Great Professor by the way.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Pay attention in class, read the textbook, take decent notes and you'll do fine. I read the readings right before class and did great on quizzes. Really great class, I highly recommend him and this course I learned so much.
I took one class online, one in person. An excellent teacher. I am currently an econ major and still using things I learned in his class in my 400 level classes. It is a lot of work and he drills his sayings into you. Although he is grating, he provides excellent building blocks for pursuing an economics degree. The key to his class is margins.
Awesome teacher. I was never into Economics, but after I took this class I see how you can see the world from a different viewpoint. I took his class fall quarter 2013 and got a 3.7, even after I literally failed the midterm. I guess he curved the grade.
took this class for my graduation quarter in seattle central. don't believe the "this class is too hard" words going around campus. this is how a college class is supposed to be, one of the best class experience i've had in my 2 years of college, will push you to the limit, all in all a life changing experience
One of the worst teachers I've had at SCCC! Very poorly organized, outdated website. Mr. Hubert claims to teach you "how the world works", but his analysis of forces behind poverty, race issues and environmental degradation are misguided at best. His assigned readings tend to be very one sided, factually inaccurate with misconstrued data.
very clear, he will always help as long as you ASK.
His online course was so disorganized, and I was constantly confused. I would ask him questions and he would simply repeat the question. His assignments were disorganized. "Read article and comment." I was not impressed with his teaching style online. I would not take a class with him again.
While I disagreed with most of what he had to say, I enjoyed taking Hubert's class for the most part. The subject matter is challenging, and he knows it - as long as you show up, you can't get lower than a 3.0. While some of the tests have questions which are nearly impossible, he's fairly reasonable. Got D's on the midterm and final and got a 3.6
He does not communicate with his online students or comment on your submissions. He only grades.
Hubert seems to be a wise, intelligent and fair professor. I'm not an econbusiness major but took his Intro to Econ class for credits + was curious about basic economic concepts. Learned a lot and ended up taking microeconomics as well. The lectures aren't hard to follow - lots of examples, logical arguments, critical thinking.
Prof. Hubert vigorously defends common sense and choice in every detail, encouraging challenges to his libertarian-leaning conservative beliefs. Unlike the "tolerant" left-wing staff on campus, Hubert allows you to speak and will logically retort. Want to know how the world works? Take Econ at SCC. Otherwise, stick to the hugs-and-rainbows classes.
I straight up failed both the mid-term and the final and managed to get a 3.4 in the class. Went to nearly every class and did all the papers that were due every Thursday. Has quizzes every Friday where he only gives you 30 seconds to answer. Kinda an intense dude.
The class has done poorly on the weekly one minute, 20 point quiz on Fridays. The instructor has now decided to pile on quizzes the other days of the week to "incentivize" studying. Instructor does not make it clear what will be on the quizzes, and often makes purposefully misleading hints. This behavior has been extremely damaging to my grade.
I think Hubert will leave you unforgetable experience if you take his class. I worked EXTREMELY hard in this class and the ourcome is just so bad. He did not organized his class very much and not at all help you if you have any quesiton. That's all about truth if you once take his class. If you are a genious on Econ, you can try it.
First requirement, read. Read the book and the homework reading assignments. I did not read much and got several "0" for the quizes but I did pretty good in tests because he gave us the example questions and strongly implied what would be in the tests. You just need to pay attention. After you understand his system, it'll be fine.
The worst prof ever. One thing is clear that go read textbook. Don't expect he can teach you anything. And do expect he can test you something you never learned from him
He massed up all the material he should have been taught and he's extremely disorganized. I am wondering how he can be qualified for a professor in a US college. I learned nothing from him but to CAREFULLY choose a professor. Believe me, no matter how you struggled you are still get a grade depends on how fortunate you are. WORST!!!! Ever
This teacher is just a joke. I got 0.8 from this stupid teacher while another professor gave me 3.8 on my Econ 201 class.
As soon as the new quarter begin, I will go to the dean to tell SCC that this professor did not teach me anything but give me a incredibly low GPA. I have no idea why SCC offer majority of Econ courses with this horrible professor, I would definitely not take or recommend any of my friend take his class.
Hubert is a good professor and knowledgable person. But his class is not that great. Most of time I'm confused by his website. And even there's some mistakes in his exams. I would like to talk with him because he's nice but I don't suggest to take his class.
Hubert spends the majority of class time discussing his right-wing beliefs. His ideas about major economic problems like poverty are extremely one dimensional. He is often unclear about expectations, does not return the weekly papers, and his weekly quizzes are extremely random and hard to study for. AVOID if you care about learning and doing well
I spend a lot of time no this course but it seems my effort does not work at all
Mr. Hubert is a beast. The best econ prof ever. He will make you pay your mistakes, but that is your fault, it is not societies fault as he says. He expects you to fulfill his legitimate expectations which is the definition of justice anyway. Take his class to learn how the world works. This is the real thing, not a Hugh-and-rainbows class.
After taking this class, I would suggest it only for students who want to study, but not to get the grade. The real requirement for this course is to be truly open minded and objective. if you want to learn econ, this course is for you. if you need just an easy grade, don't even think about taking it. to get the good grade is not hard as it seems.
James is a good and knowledge professor but his class is too confused. If you don't care about your grade that's a good choice for you because you can learn a lot. However you don't want to expect a nice grade from him. Probably around 3.0 you'll be super lucky.
It's end of the world. Unbelievable experience. I don't know what should to be expected from his class. He teaches nothing so I learned from my textbook. But he test me something I've never been learned from him.
Dear god this is the most horrible class I have ever take.
please just avoid taking his class i wonder if he slept with the dean of scc to remain a instructor here dear god most horrible teacher ever
Best teacher ever in college! Strongly recommended Prof. Hubert. You will learn something that is not in the textbook (well, you can read the textbook, right?)
Professor Hubert is the best teacher in the world. He is always there to answer every single question, not just about Economics but also History, Psychology, and other things. Your critical thinking skills and knowledge of Economics and Finance will level up.
Read and highlight all the textbook before you come to class all you can never keep up with which chapter you are. 1 min pop quiz every fri . i take the second class but still feel scared and confused. don't try to think too complicated about the test cuz the answers are all based on basic rules. require understandings about worldwide news.
Hardest class, gives no feedback. Would never take again this class ruined my GPA.
He is the best teacher I have ever had in my entire life! He teaches you how the world works and he actually makes you think! Totally worth going to every other class (even though it was at 8am). he doesn't have specific grading criteria, if you do well on the final, your midterm doesn't matter!
he is tough. If you are not used to challenging studying style then please do not take him
He gives quizzes every Friday in a completely different format than on his midterm and final exam and the majority of the material on his exams is not covered in class. You will hear about his first house, car, and job. He comes from a time when you could get by on less money and his views haven't changed with the world. Don't expect feedback.
Be cautious. I strongly advise against doing online Econ. I took him in person and his grading can be confusing. I failed both the midterm and the final, but turned in all assignments and got a 3.5. Show up every friday. After 5 quiz passes, they carry over as extra credit. Saved my grade. A favorite/notorious teacher at SCC, approach carefully.
Run for your Life. This professor is by far the worst I ever taking at SCC. He gives you know feedback, pop quizzes, etc. Your GPA will be ruined. In fact, he must be fired. I will report him to the dean.
i've been in this class for 5 days and i can already tell you he's a jerk. gives harsh feedback but then doesn't answer any questions. rude and unhelpful
Doesn't answer your questions about assignments in your emails. Asked him for advice to do better in class and he replys, I grade on a curve. I am writing this after I took my complaint to the complaint officer, dean, and vice president. After all the time and meetings I went through they didn't do anything except advise him to change his syllabus.
Little to no interaction with online course. Other online courses, professors are usually really active and gives a lot of feedback and makes instructions very clear. Perhaps he needs to update some of his canvas pages because sometimes one thing contradicts another. Never answers my questions. Just read and have good memory is all you need I guess
NO LECTURES. Midterm and a final. Read book, take tests. He is narrowminded, rude, & vague in his replies... if you even get one. CANVAS SITE IS VERY DISORGANIZED. All ad hoc assignments were WSJ articles, again limited opinions. LOOK @ NSC AND SSC ECON ONLINE. Its not very hard to enroll on their system. That is if you want a REAL PROF/TO LEARN
Not Very Thorough, Not accessible out of class
Canvas is very disorganized. The professor is extremely rude. Unclear feedbacks. The class is graded on a midterm and final.
His canvas is disorganized. Doesn't even teach and tells you to read the textbook. Your all grade is based on mditerm and final, which is ridiculous especially when you only get one attempt and limited time, and when messing up one question is detrimental to your grade. His instructions are unclear and his emails are rude. Regret taking this class
Dont take him
Oh how I love economics!! I suggest that you take this class.
His Canvas is extremely unorganized and he is very unclear on his assignment directions. Unless you meet with him face to face, chances are you will not get him and pass this class.
Unbelievably bad. The good news is the tests are open-book. The bad news is you won't learn a single thing from him - it's all about the textbook. His "read and comment" assignments are usually right-wing think-pieces that have little or nothing to do with the course material. Doesn't provide helpful feedback. Difficult to contact. Stay away!
No interaction with the students.
I took Hubert in 2002. He is one of the top three teachers I've ever had.
