Dr. Hutchins is a professor who loves teaching and loves what he teaches. He has an odd sense of humor, but he is nice and is willing to work with students' busy schedules if you give him enough notice.

Dr. Hutchins is a very helpful professor. This class is not an easy class to take, but he tries to make it as easy as he possibly can.

If you take online classes take this man. He is what an online professor should be. Both 1111 and 1112 are test heavy, I took 1112 in the summer and 10 tests and a final in 12 weeks is a bit intense. Not Dr.Hutchins' fault as the classes are standardized by Weber St.

Good class, but some of the tests were tough. I didn't open my book until finals week but I used the slides and study guide extensively. He's a bit odd, but I like that he's willing to answer questions.

Very easy class. I took took the class online and finished way early with an A. You can tell he truely cares about his students and what he is teaching. He is understanding and helpful. He has a sense of humor and is a pleasure to have for a professor.

This was my first online class. Dr. Hutchins was very quick to respond to questions and concerns. He truly wants his students to succeed. It was a very good experience and I learned a lot.

Took him for Both bio meds and Med terminology online. Great Professor. He responds to emails quickly, and will send you one to tell you when he will be out of town for a few days. Nice guy.

He is an AWESOME professor and is so willing to help with anything that you need. I took Med Term and it's such an easy class that I didn't have to use any of the CD's. He responds to emails very quickly and is VERY understanding for people with public speaking fears.

I took this class online and still had to go to campus each week to take the unit tests. The class was a piece of cake and Hutchins makes it clear as to what is expected. He also allows you to finish as quickly as you'd like. This is nice because I finished in 3 weeks and was able to focus on my other classes.

This is a hard class, but Jim is interesting and has a dry humor. He truly wants you to succeed. He is very quick to respond to emails and posting grades. If you have to take this class online, he is definitely the one to take it from.

Dr. Hutchins is aweosme!! He did a great job at explaining things in a way that we could understand. I wish he was teaching 1111 next semester. I would recommend him for anyone! Bonus he is funny and HOT!

Dr. Hutchins is a great teacher. He is very clear on his expectations and very prompt and helpful in answering questions. Material was challenging but read the book and learn what he tells you to and its and easy A. I would highly recommend him.

Medical term was easy, but Patho was hard. I ended up dropping it- he is funny but at times it got boring with his monotone voice. He is a good teacher, you just have to spend a lot of time studying. He said patho is the most retaken class at weber.

Excellent professor, cares about his students, and takes their input serious. Monotone voice sure, but doesn't distract from his great lectures and funny sense of humor. Also down to earth, you can talk to him straight, and he treats his students like adults and professionals.

Awesome professor! Hutchins is not only great at explaining the material, but has a good sense of humor in class as well. Always willing to answer questions whether in class or via email. The material may prove to be somewhat difficult, but if you pay attention and follow the book you'll be fine.

I didn't open the textbook once, I just used the study guide and went to class (didn't take notes either). I would just do a quick perusal of the section before taking the exams. Best prof I've had at any university or college (I've attended several). Goes to great lengths to make sure one understands, to include researching a subject or sending sources for further study. Great, but quirky, sense of humor. All profs should be so laid back but still concerned regarding his/her students. Highly recommend.

Dr. Hutchins is incredibly smart, funny, and really cares about each individual student. After class one day I asked him a question about something I didn't understand, and he stayed an extra 15 minutes to explain and diagram my question on the board. Awesome teacher :]

Doctor(as his mom likes to hear)/Professor/Mister Hutchins is a great teacher. He responds to e-mails quicker than you can drink a Big Gulp. He'll go above and beyond to answer your questions, but the subject is hard, so make sure you have your thinking cap on!

Very helpful and presented the information in a way that I could understand.

I really loved this class. All you need is the spiral bound textbook with the lecture slides he teaches on to be successful. I found that if you study at least a few days before the tests and know everything in the slides you will get an A. There really is no reading between the lines. No assignments, open book quizzes, and 8 exams.

Dr. Hutchins is a very helpful professor and will make sure you fully understand the concept. However, if you don't have to take Patho, DON'T! This class should be taught in two semesters because there is so much information crammed into one semester, it's ridiculous. Patho is the hardest class I've ever taken. If it isn't required, don't bother!

I really loved this class, Professor Hutchins was amazing. He does a great job at trying to make sure everyone understands the concept, even if you run out of time in class he is more than willing to take a few minutes after class to discuss any confussing concepts as well as discuss and concerns. He is amazing Im excited for his next class!!

Great professor, really smart he makes a hard and boring subject interesting. I've seen him go out of his way to help student all the time. Unlike other professors he doesn't try to scare you out of biomed talking about how hard it is and what not. :]

Dr. Hutchins is a pretty smart guy. He is a joker so don't take anything he says too seriously. I really enjoyed his class. Chugg's class had like 150 people in it but with Hutchins we had like 40 so he got to know us. Ya Bio-med is a little difficult, but he teaches it very well.

Dr. Hutchins really knows his material. Don't let the 3 rating on "easiness" discourage you from taking his course. All of the Health Science professors are pretty tough but only because it's tough material.

Very clear in concepts. Elaborates on things that will be on test (without telling you they will be on test). Tough course, but he breaks things down to be understood and will pause to allow for questions or explain things further. Not bad to look at either for an hour and a half twice a week!

Very helpful. He follows lecture slides that students purchase (study guide). Tests come from that material. He tries to help students remember material with jokes and mneumonics (sp?).

He was alright, very boeing at times which made it hard to go to class at 8am. Just stay organized, study hard, and you should do alright.

Tough course, but great professor. Open to questions. All lectures are available online if you miss a class or need to go over something again.

I love this professor, I find him very entertaining and look forward to his lectures. Study the objectives and go to SI and the tests will not that difficult. Taking him for 1111. Just buy the study guide you don't need anything else.

I really enjoyed this class! I also enjoyed Dr. Hutchins too. Very clear instructions and topics. Material is very hard. I studied for at least 14 hours a week and did great in the class! Tests are hard but all info come from the study guide. Don't buy the textbook, just the study guide. I would definitely recommend taking it from Dr. Hutchins.

This is a hard class no mater who you take it with. Hitchins does his best to tell you how the test will be but he is not very visual besides using the assigned powerpoint. I enjoy his jokes.

use the study guide! test questions come from the study guide and the exam review. make sure to fill that out. don't bother spending too much time on the lab, just flip back to the lab itself in wileyplus while your in the quiz for the lab. and go back and forth for the answers. don't bother completing the lab it takes too long. and its not on test

His lectures are spoken in what seemed to be one long run-on sentence. He gives a lot of extra information that you don't need to know for exams. I felt like he was trying to impress the class with how smart he was. But In the end, we are all here to learn info for exam and pass, not cram our brains with excess information we don't need to know.

I loved Hutchins class, though I'm a bit of a physiology nerd anyway. The class is hard but he does a good job at helping you to make connections. He takes time to answer your questions, and if he doesn't know, he's willing to look them up. I highly suggest Dr. Hutchins, his sort of dry sense of humor and analogies help the material stick.

This guy is HILARIOUS. A lot of jokes in his teaching, which keeps it interesting. He's super smart and has tons of experience. Good at teaching and explaining. Overall though, Biomed is all about how well you can study personally. The lectures never helped me much. As long as you study hard the study guide modules, you'll do good on tests.

This class in itself is EXTREMELY hard. However, if you watch the videos and study, you can pass with a good grade. Prof Hutchins is very stale in his lectures; hard to stay awake. Since it was an online class, the videos are by multiple professors which was great! When I did have to contact him, he was very condescending, arrogant and degrading.

Funny

Overall, he is a great professor. Arrogant at times and tries to incorporate humor into the lectures. The class in itself is very tough. There are 8 exams, not including the final. I highly recommend taking the lab along with this class. Expect to spend a lot of time during the week reviewing material.

Lectures are optional so I stopped going by the middle of the semester. If you read the study guide and actually take in what you're reading. Then, you will be fine. lab is where you mostly apply what you learn. Professor Hutchins is really great but his voice is very monotone, making it very difficult to stay focused. But he is there for you!

I had him for Biomed 1. He was great. You can tell he is really cares. He is always accessible outside of class. You have to work for the grade you want in the class. His exams are straight forward and he gives you the tools to pass. I would definitely recommend him and take other classes from him in the future.

Great professor! He takes the time to make sure you grasp the concept. He teaches from experience and knowledge, not just one of those professors who reads slides all class. He's fun and interacts with the class. He uses his humor to help you remember difficult concepts for test taking and memorization. Honestly one of the best professors at WSU.

Dr. Hutchins turns complex and, at times, boring lectures into ones that are fun and interesting. I always left his lecture feeling like I learned something new and relatable (which made the material easier to remember). I would definitely take another course from him. Listen in lecture, read the text, and you'll do just fine.

This class was easy for me but I am good at memorization. Do not buy the book, only purchase the McGraw-Hill Connect access. The book is on there and is easy to take notes from. First lecture a week was optional, second was mandatory to take the quiz then you could leave. I spent maybe 10 minutes a week actually in class.

He is a Nice person. this is based on my personal interaction with him. communicate with him and you will be on his good side. he will surprise you by how willing he is to help you when he knows you need him..

Tests are easy if you put in effort. I actually studied and didn't get under a 90. Dr. Hutchins is brilliant. He is a good lecturer and has a way of teaching so I could understand. I enjoyed his lectures. He expects a lot from his students but as health professionals we should be the best. He's my favorite health science proffessor!!!

This class wasn't easy but if you take the time to study you will pass with a good grade. I bought the textbook package that included the study guide and online material and didn't open the actual book once. Wileyplus homework isn't mandatory but the exact pictures/answers are on the quizzes/tests. Pretest info also on the module exam.

He is an awesome professor! I took his class online and had no problems with it! Just plan on a ton of studying, minimum of 15 hours a week. But if you study and listen to lectures you will do just fine on the tests. I also like how he collaborates his lectures with other health science professors who are also great!

Dr Hutchins is very caring. He genuinely wants to help you. He answers questions quickly outside of class. He will literally re-teach the lecture during office hours if you don't understand. The course is very difficult. I studied 12-15 hours a week.

Funny and very kind person. I took med term (1101)while I was taking A and P (1111). The courses followed the same pattern so it made 1101 an easy A.

Hutchins was awesome. Online included test discussions for each module where we could let each other know what to expect on tests. He is more than willing to meet outside of class and HILARIOUS! You do need to study frequently, as there is a lot of material, but as long as you work hard, you won't have a problem.

Class would be lectures and discussions, at any point we could ask questions and start a discussion. There were online chats set up for the class for farther discussion of our questions. The content of the course is difficult, for exams we had resources such as the lecture ppt, previous quizzes, extensive SI, reading and asking questions.

This is a really difficult class but he explains the content very well and is super funny!!

Dr. Hutchins really cares about his students. If you are struggling he will take the time to sit down and discuss a plan for the semester. He and I did not see eye to eye at first, but as the semester went on I warmed up to him. HTHS 1110 is a difficult class but if you are willing to put in the effort, you should be fine.

I enjoyed this class. the textbook is hard to understand, so attending lectures increases your understanding of the material. He is willing to help whenever you ask questions. He is knowledgeable about neuroscience and gives interesting lectures.

This was a tough class, but Hutchins and Hillhouse both enjoyed the content they taught. The book is absolutely necessary, it should be the most closely studied content followed by the powerpoints and lectures. The tests will literally base questions on all three of these things.

Took his class online , he is very fast at responding , also has a forum for every so many chapter and for exams where we can ask questions or give feedback . I did have to read a lot , we use a McGraw book which is SUPER helpful , it gives these end of lecture tests that I used to study and because of that I passed the class.

I love the HTHS classes. Beware though, if you are not self disciplined you will not pass the class. This isn't a class where you only listen to the lectures and do the homework. The good information is in the study guides and if you don't make them your bible you wont do well at all. C's get degrees but not into programs.

I loved this class. If you aren't super great at anatomy and chemistry it will probably be a hard class but doable. Hutchins was great at responding ridiculously fast even if I emailed him at 9 pm he'd answer right away. The study guide is your holy bible. I recommend spending the little money to get it printed out at staples. I did mine all in B/W

Dr. Hutchins (Jim) is simply the best. I really enjoyed his class. He has an awesome sense of humor that makes learning fun and engaging. The material is tough and time-consuming, but you will do just fine as long as you do the assignments and go to S.I. Online learning materials are awesome!

He was probably the best professor I've ever had. He cares a lot about his students and the lectures are not bad. There are multiple assignments and lectures every week, but overall they are super helpful and not too boring. I spent about 5-6 hours weekly. I would definitely retake any of his classes. 100% recommended.

Very helpful when it came to any questions I had, he even responded on thanksgiving! Lots of homework though but it helps that he drops the lowerest assignments. I would take another class from him for sure!

Dr. Hutchins really cares about his students and their success. I always received an email from him congratulating me on getting a good score on a test or an email asking if I needed more explanation on a specific subject if I didn't do well on an assignment. I am a senior at WSU and he has been hands down my favorite professor!

I had a hard time reaching James on emails. Video lectures were informative and there's a lot of assignments in this class to help review them. If you have the time I would highly recommend participating in weekly zoom meetings with your mentors to go over lectures and anything you need help understanding especially if you're an online student.

This was day and night compared to the last class I had. Dr Hutchins is a very knowledgeable and his class is well organized. 4 exams all cumulative meaning exam 4 will be about all the units and exam 3 is only on the ones learned and the ones before it. Lots of memorizing and sometimes there are questions that have never been seen even on quizzes.

A very knowledgeable teacher who loves what he does. The textbook is free so don't worry. You have to read and memorize some things. The theory exams are easy if you study and it gives you a second chance to improve your grade.
