Jim is an extremely good professor. You learn so much about the hospitality industry in his class. His personality is easy going and laid back. He's also a sight for sore eyes.
awesome teacher. knows his stuffs. definetely take him for all your hospitality classes! goes over tests well, especially the final. just take notes when he's reviewing for chapter tests and exams and you'll get a good grade!
I took this class with Jim, it was a great experience. I wish he wasn't married but I understand though if you have seen his wife.
Jim is very to the point and straightforward. His test's questions come straight out of the book. Very intresting guy who doest waste the students time.Great guy!
I took all my hosp with Jim. He's a very straightforward teacher. You'll learn a lot of real world skills. He's got great stories about the industry. Easy class! Just take notes when he reviews what is going to be on the test. It's all straight out of the book. I got A's in all my classes
Class is easy as long as you pay attention, he mostly reads out of the book
I love Professor Inglis's classes! He's a good teacher and knows what he's talking about! He's a funny guy and keeps u interested. I like the way he teaches his classes...easy to understand...sometimes his tests are hard...it depends.
KNOWS EVERYTHINGS GOING ON IN THE ORLANDO AREA FOR JOBS IN THE HOTEL BUSINESS, REALLY SMART TEACHER, FUNNY, EASY GOING....
He's a very straightforward teacher. You'll learn a lot of real world skills. Its a very good class. As long as you write notes in class when he reviews for tests you'll do good. He's got great stories about the hospitality industry. It's all straight out of the book...Thanks for everything... Jackie
Jim is awesome! Very casual & funny but professional, serious & informative at the same time. Love the news he brings in the beginning of every class.
Great Professor! Very good in explaining. Keeps class interesting!
Jim makes class a blast. He tells you what you need to know and then lets you leave. You're told exactly what is on the tests and theres no real homework. He knows his stuff and he has a great sense of humor.
Explains very well powerpoints are online you can download them wiley.com the enter the books ISBN # Tells you what is going to be on the test. Interesting, and gives EC by volunteering at magic games and other things.
Great Professor! He is straight forward and very clear. He truly relates to his students, and treats them with respect. I will definitely be taking classes from him in the future!
This teacher is so on point. He is the best teacher to take for any classes you might have in hospitality!!!!!!
Excellent
GREAT Professor, really relates well with the students not boring at all, he is fair and you learn allot from his classes
Take his class he is very good.
Good content, clear, precise and lot of relevant info.
Mr. Inglis is a fun teach He'll give you good advice if you're trying to get into Hospitality Ind. Tests are a little tricky, he puts a lot of false on true/false questions so watch for that. He always lets you out after about an hour and 15 into class. Easy B, might need to try a little for an A. Good guy for networking..he knows everyone
Great class, such an easy teacher. Absolutely loved him. Taking him again next semester. He lets you out early, tells you what to study, goes over everything clearly, funny helpful guy. DEFINITELY recommend him. :D
He is an awesome professor! He has a sense of humor, and makes teaching fun. He is very laid back. He really knows his information!
Very Awesome teacher. He really knows what he is talking about. He has a big sense of humor and gives you a heads up on volunteer opportunities in which if you do enough enough, you earn a trip somewhere (This semester was New York). You get a little hands-on training on how to work at Front Desk. Would definetely recommend him.
His class is pretty simple. Goes over a chapter every day you have class. In the beginning you have to "make" a reservation in the hotel and do some other things every week. That will be a 3rd of your grade. He tells you what is exactly on tests and the final. No big papers. I thought the book helped me becasue he went quick through power points.
Teacher-wise, he's OK. Industry-wise, he's probably your best bet. He has a lot of good connections if you're serious about the hospitality industry and he will help you a lot. Otherwise he just teaches right off slides and tells stories of his experience and whats going on in the industry today. Pretty easy class.
Best teacher at the college
Best Professor at VCC!!! Hands down! I took him multiple times for different classes. I've been at UCF for a few semesters now and I still haven't come across a professor here that's better than Inglis.
Best Professor at VCC!!!
this class was very easy and helpful for the career. i recommend this teacher!!! plan to take other classes with this professor.
He knows everything that goes in the hosp industry in orlando.Gives heads up on volunteer opportunitites.I wish I can take him for all my hosp classes
Exellent teacher, well connected in Hospitality Industry. One of the BEST, he is the Chairman for the hospitality program at Valencia and it shows the quality of professional he is. I take every class I can with him; he makes the student succeed.
If you do not ACE any of the courses that you take with Inglis, you will need to reevaluate why you're in college. He's by far the easiest Professor that I've had. As long as you pay attention on review days for exams (he gives the questions), and you do the projects (ex. article reviews= mad easy), you're guranteed to pass.
He's a great teacher! very knowledgeable about the hospitality industry, not only in orlando area but all over the country! very helpful! tells you when you are taking notes what will be on the test! book is semi-necessary but he has a power point for each chapter and says what will be on the test!!!!
Teaches all hospitality classes. Lets you know daily real time information. He can be repetative through his classes though. Always lets you out early, reviews for all tests and exams, you can pass every class with an A. Helps you to find a job TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
professor inglis is the best!!! he tells u what is coming in the test and he teach byexample so it is easy to remember. awesome teacher! i already took 2 classes with him and he is awesome
Yes, prof Inglis is awesome & everything said in here about him is true, but keep in mind that he flips some test questions around when taking the test, so u'll need to pay close attention. Best thing to do is to bring a recorder so u can play it back while studying. But ask him 1st, he won't mind. I took him for most of my classes. Happy learning
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR I REPEAT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, he always review for the test and he is very knowledgeable about the industry
Great Professor. Went over everything that was going to be on the test and final in class. Just go to class. Also loved the current events he talked about before class, you get to learn about hospitality news before anyone else.
He is an amazing teacher ! He goes over everything and when he says its going to be on the test, its going to be on the test. He gives a review of all current events that are going on and he's all about helping students get involved. Great teacher. just go to class and pay attention and you can't go wrong.
He knows his area of hospitality well, goes over current events, teaches very well and very coherent. Explains the subject well. Gives extra credit which helps a lot, I got an A because of extra credit, had a B and I have not seen him being rude, disrespectful or angry at a student.
Goes through material very quickly--always out of class super early! Gives real world scenarios and has a great understanding of true hotel experience. Also informs class of cool upcoming events in the industry etc.
I love prof Inglis hes an amzing teacher such a great class hes funny your never there the whole time hes not boring and he basically goes over ever test love prof inlgistook him for pretty much evert hospitality class love him!!!
Prof. Inglis is the best! I have taken many classes with him and he is by far the best hospitality professor @ Valencia. You're an idiot if you don't get an A in this class. He tells you everything that will be on the test. Uses his experience in hospitality field to teach the class.
He is a great teacher. He knows his stuff, he has been in the industry for many years. Lots of good stories to share. Learned a lot. He is easy if you come to class.
He is a great teacher, head of the department. He knows his stuff. Always has some funny stories to share. If you come to class and put in some effort you will get an A.
You learn so much besides the textbook or power points. He shares experiences and current events, all interesting so you're never bored. One of my favorite teachers at Valencia, funny too. His front office is easy, its step by step just pay attention.
Prof. Inglis is by far the best hospitality professor. I have taken many classes with him. He tells you everything that will be on the test. He has been in the industry for many years. He always shares great stories with the students. He is always up to date of what is happening in the hospitality industry.
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! The best Hospitality Professor at Valencia, hands down.
Awesome. Love this guy. And he's a heavy metal fan, which makes him even more awesome.
Mr. Inglis is an Awesome Professor. He engages you into Hospitality by linking you with resouces that is useful. I actually earned a 2500.00 Scholarship by volunterring for one of his organizations. Join the Hospitality Club and have a chance to experience HOSPITALITY at its best. His classes are fun but you must take notes and read for the test.
No homework. 5 tests (20 questions multiple choice). Each class covers one chapter's power point plus a lot of talking about news and the industry. Fun class. Little effort. We almost always get out over an hour early. The Prof. can come off very rude when dealing with him 1 on 1. Textbook was never used!
Really great prof. I moved from a big state school in Ohio to Valencia this semester so having a really great prof. like him proved community colleges can still be great. He's definitely encouraged me to aim for Rosen, he's a really great resource for a lot of info on the major.
Great professor! Go to class, take notes and you'll do well. He relates the material to current events and makes the course interesting. : )
I love professor Inglis, I've taken him three separate times and I would take him again if I had another class to take. He's interesting and compares everything to real life situations. He does spend the first thirty minutes of every class talking about hospitality news and he lets you out early. TAKE HIM, you will not regret it.
James is a professor you have to take a least once. He is very helpful also teaches you about what's happening in the orlando area that has to do with hospitality.
Professor Inglis is kind of high strung but I loved taking his class. He loves sharing whats going on in Orlando and I liked that. Make sure you take notes and make sure you understand what answers are needed on quizzes. I am looking forward to taking another class with him.
He is a very good professor. He doesn't assign a lot of homework. He gives a good exam review before each test. I'd take him again in a heart beat. He has a lot of great stories from his experience in the hospitality industry.
There are only 4 tests and a paper to make up your entire grade. The tests are based on his lectures but can be worded oddly at times. Don't waste your money on the book. I've never opened mine. Half of every class is him talking about newspaper articles that don't pertain to the course and aren't always accurate.
Professor Inglis is hands down one of the best professors I have ever taken. Class is not hard, tests come straight from the powerpoints and he tells you specifically what will be on the test in the book. Genuinely cares about his students, and is full of stories. Rarely ever stayed for the whole class, typically got out halfway through.
He was one of the best professors that I have on my 2 years at Valencia. I really liked the way he teach( news from newspaper everyday, then he will jump to the units wth the book) He comes ready for class all the time. On his lectures, you need to pay attention cuz he will tell you "remember ,this might be on the test". He is organized.
Professors Inglis' class is based on lectures with 4 test to follow and a project and that's it. He reads random facts from the newspaper everyday and then goes off on trails while lecturing. I bought the book and didn't really need it. The class just isn't what I was excited for.
Hes always on time for class, has facts about things happening in Orlando, and he tells you exactly what you need to know to pass the tests and final. He also gives a lot of great info on scholarships and job postings.
HE IS THE BEST TAKE HIM AND YOU WON'T REGRET IT. NO HOMEWORK JUST 4 TESTS FOR EVERY 3 UNITS AND A FINAL. HE TELLS YOU WHAT IS ON EACH TEST AND DO A FINAL REVIEW. THE FINAL TEST IS FROM THE 4 TESTS.
One of the best professors I had at Valencia! Gives great lectures & teaches you things about hospitality you dont find in a textbook that are really interesting. He does love to read current events which is interesting finding out whats new in the field. Easy class super nice guy took him for multiple classes would absolutely take again.
He grades unfairly. A project he assigns involves a cover letter and resume. He graded my resume at a C and claimed I needed to use a newer format.. The student that sat next to me used the same format as I did and received an A. When brought to his attention he denied doing this until i brought up the other resume and he gave me a B instead.
4 test(40%), 1 semester project which he helps make sure you have everything. Its on you not too lose it (30%), Final exam(20%), participation(10%). Be prepared to calculate your grades otherwise you are in the dark. Goes over the exam in class. You need the book because he will say you need to know this for the exam and literally its in the exam.
Professor Inglis is a good teacher with interesting stories to share. I always enjoyed listening to his opinion and hearing about his experience in the hospitality industry. However, his teaching methods just didn't work with how I comprehend material. He moves really fast and the exams were challenging to study for.
Super easy class and barely used the textbook. He'd always bring up a page to look over or for you guys to read in class but he basically would skim the chapter and get off topic very easily. Majority of the time he'll tell you key points about what to study or look for on the test. Have a good resume and be ready for job opportunities/volunteering
Professor Inglis' Lodging Operations class wasn't super difficult, and the weekly quizzes and discussions are pretty simple and easy as long as you read the textbook. Unfortunately due to technical issues, we weren't able to access the opera simulation program, so we were assigned a really brief opinion paper.
I never really write reviews but I fee like I have to. This class was unenjoyable. I took it to get an idea about hospitality but it was full of busy work. The class is not organized well at all and you have to learn everything on your own.
I took Professor Inglis online and I really don't have many complaints. There is a large research project due about halfway through the course, but honestly, I feel like he graded harsher on the weekly discussions than the project. All of the answers to the quizzes can be found on Quizlet so that definitely makes studying easier. Textbook heavy!
I barely put in effort bc we never have HW besides quizzes from the textbook.Hes canceled class a few times so I kinda forget that the class exists. You dont learn anything but its a very easy A. He just pulls up maps of Orlando & goes on rants abt companies getting tax breaks & FL politicians. Weve never gotten out of class less than an hour early
He doesn't give extra unnecessary homework, its usually an online quiz, discussion (which you do in class), and then a project every once in a while, but everything is stated on the syllabus.
I did have to read 3 chapters every week to complete assignmentsthey were quick reads and easy to understand the first time around. The homework load may look "heavy" at first but the difficulty level is easy. Professor is clear on what he expects on our assignments and as long as you follow the guidelines you should received an A with no problem.
Class work is simple, read one or two short chapters a week and discuss in class, then one vocab assignment on the chapter. At the end of the week do a 10 question multiple choice quiz and that's all. Mid term and final are longer but also multiple choice. There is a term project and I would recommend starting as early as possible.
Took him in person, and I liked the class, the material was very easy and the class was not work-heavy. He does repeat himself a lot but he is very knowledgeable.
You need to teach yourself EVERYTHING. He loves to rant about recent city developments, theme park news- just about everything besides the actual course content. Admittedly, my grade was due my own laziness- the class is easy to pass as long as you stay on top of your work and ALWAYS check eCampus, as he barely mentioned most important assignments.
Worst professor I've ever had. He doesn't teach at all. He talks about irrelevant things going on in Orlando for an hour then the last 15 minutes of class he had two students try to do the assignment. Do yourself a favor and take it online. Save your time.
Its really easy, for the online class its chapter discussions, quizzes, maybe 2 projects and exams. Hes really chill. Just turn assignments on time. He uses the textbook for almost everything. Hes cool overall so take him if hes an option. There's homework every week.
He was honestly a great professor to have online. This class is very simulation heavy but he gives hints a the start of every week and responds to messages super fast compared to other professors. The class overall just feels like playing a game that you sometimes have to lock in on basically.
