I loved Professor Jewett! He disagrees with the textbook and has a running commentary every single class which is hilarious! He is just starting at JMU after working for community college, so he's not particularly demanding. He wants his students to have a general understanding of computer information systems and is not very picky at all. Take him!

Professor Jewett was great! I got him for the first semester he taught at JMU after teaching at a community college so he wasn't expecting much, but still wanted his students to learn everything. He didn't make us do the annoying Access project like everyone else or the in-depth Sharepoint assignments. I still learned more than I thought I would!

Jim is the best professor at JMU. I had him his first semester her taught at JMU and he was very knowledgeable on the subject matter, but also made sure if you did your work, you got a good grade. If you are ever struggling in his class, go to his office hours, he helps you out so much. TAKE JEWETT!!

Jewett is a very interesting character. Teaches entirely through power points, funny anecdotes, and real-world examples, all while walking around talking talking to his shoes. He has alot of experience in the field. I might have enjoyed this class more if it wasn't at 8am. Quizzes are entirely online and Group project isn't too hard.

Jewett is one of the best COB teachers you can get. His classes are always interesting and he actually talks about real-life scenarios instead of just reading from the textbooks. He gives you a study guide for each test. The stdy guide ia a list of terms that are the exact terms that will be on the test. Easiest teacher at JMU

One of the best teachers I've had at JMU. He's funny and makes sure you understand a concept. Test are straight forward. Take him. He gives extra credit too on the Access assignments which every cob204 student has to do anyway. Definitely worth taking.

Many people say that this class was easy. While this may be true, this can partially be attributed to the subject matter, and can also be partially attributed to the way he presents the information. He is an overall great instructor, and is obvoiusly very experienced and knows what he's talking about. Take his class.

Best professor of all my five teachers. Jewett is a really nice guy and definitely will never fail to make you laugh. Class was pretty easy, tests were straight from the study guide. No suprises. And quizzes were all take home. I highly reccommend this class!

Jewett is a nice, funny guy that is an easy professor overall. He knows the material is boring so he tries to make jokes and liven up class. The Sharepoint assignments will bite you in the butt if you're not on top of them. Basically as long as you do your work you'll get an A. Attendance not mandatory and he's a really sweet guy!

He's awesome. He's got a good sense of humor and keeps the class interesting despite the blandness of the introductory level computer information. TAKE HIS CLASS!

One of the easier CIS classes. Not a lot of people go to class because his lectures are boring and he can be extremely random. There are online quizzes once a week, and the tests come straight from there. Jewett is extremely nice and helpful, and this class can be an easy A with some effort.

Online quizzes come from the book, and tests come from the quizzes so if you have the book those are easy. Most boring class ever, dictates from the slides, which come from the book. So buy the book, keep up with the chapters and you're good.

Jimmy is an awesome professor. He makes the material easy to understand. Has in class tests that are mostly based on the online quiz questions, which makes them super easy. TAKE HIM

Professor Jewett is the best 204 professor you will find. He teaches you the basics without making it harder than it needs to be. Make sure not to procrastinate on the Access tutorials or the Access project because they can tank your grade if you do badly. Bottom line: if you need to take 204, take Jewett!

All the tests are the exact same questions from the quizzes so you will ace all of those, but then you are screwed for the department wide cumulative final which brings your grade down a lot (like a letter grade or two). Also, under prepares you for Access project.

Professor Jewett is very dry and boring. Quizzes online every Friday, but he literally copies and pastes them on the test and then adds 10 other questions. He helps with access when you go to him. The final is tough because we don't actively learn.

Jewett is a great guy overall. The class is not too demanding as long as you do the assignment on time. Weekly online quizzes but you can use your notes, etc. Tests mainly exact quiz questions. What more could you ask for? Access assignments aren' that hard but you go to offic hours and he helps you a lot! Wants you to do well. Strongly recommend.

I would recommend this professor. Quizzes are on canvas and are easy, yet you still learn and retain what you study. Tests were essentially the quiz questions plus 10 or so. His lectures are somewhat depressing but he validates the material with real world examples from his prior job experiences that are pretty fun to listen to.

Jewett is a great professor the only negative I have is that in order to get an A you must have higher than a 95% which while not undoable is difficult to achieve.

His lectures were pretty boring and sometimes hard to sit through, but attendance isn't mandatory. EXTREMELY easy professor! Online quizzes every week that make up the 4 tests during the semester. Memorize quiz answers, get an A on the test. Final is a little bit harder but we had a full week of review which helped a lot! TAKE HIM!

Really funny guy. He gets off topic a lot and his notes aren't always very clear. Just read the book and study the online quizzes for the tests bc he copy and pastes a lot of questions from the quizzes to tests. I didn't skip class but you can definitely get away with it and still get a good grade. Definitely take.

Jewett is the man. Weekly quizzes that are extremely basic, and the quiz questions are copy and pasted onto the tests. I never even cracked open the textbook. Just do not slack on the Access assignments and project. I got a B+ in the class, but it could have been an A if I did not slack on those. He is the reason why I am switching my major to CIS.

I had health problems throughout the semester and I went to his office hours a LOT, he is always there for you if you need it. Attend class or else you won't understand the material despite it being online. Quizzes are easy and I finished the final in 15 minutes... and passed with an 88. If you're enthusiastic about the subject its REALLY easy!

Great teacher! He makes the class understandable and enjoyable for everyone! Final screwed me over from an A minus average to a B plus at the end of the semester though. Access projects were the absolute worst (averaged an 85 between all four tutorials). Access project not too bad. Tests and weekly quizzes not too bad either. Must take!

Incredible teacher. Takes boring, dry material and makes it very interesting; which is a good thing because the skills you learn in this class are worth A LOT of money. Excellent teacher, I highly recommend him and would take him again if I had more time at JMU

Professor Jewett was one of my favorite professors here. He made everything personal to the topic. He cared more about the student understanding the information rather than the grades. Study guides outlines the exams, and if you study them you should be good. 10/10 would take again!

#1 204 professor all day, definitely NOT a buster. Tests are straightforward and he makes class pretty fun. Access stuff isn't that hard as long as you use common sense. Go to class b/c sometimes he does in class assignments.

Jewett is by far my favorite professor that I have had so far at JMU. His lectures are always so interesting, and he is hilarious. His exams follow the study guides. Always go to class because he likes to do in class activities where if you just show up you get some extra credit points. Extra credit on the final too.

Jewett is literally the man. Study guides ARE THE TEST!!! Don't bother reading the textbook unless you genuinely want to know the subject more in-depth. If you got to office hours to get help with access he will 9/10 give you extra points and help you with the project. Go to every class because he counts attendance randomly.

The tests are literally the study guides. He'll do random activities during class that are extra credit and you get extra credit on the final too. Honestly, such a great professor. His class is usually interesting and he's extremely funny. I would take again if I were a CIS major.

BEST COB204 PROFESSOR!! Not a difficult class in the slightest but you still learn a lot of useful information. He's always cracking jokes. Pretty much everyone does well on the tests, I literally don't see how you couldn't. Loved this class!

The best professor ever. He is a legend. Yeah the access projects and the final access project sucks, but honestly his tests were so easy. The study guides were basically the exams. The only thing that sucks about this class was that a 95 or above was an A and he doesn't round. Boo hoo. But other than that, Legend.

This guy was awesome, best teacher at JMU so far for me. Really easy class but you should know that you have to get a 95 or higher for an A. I barely did but it was a great class.

He is a very nice teacher who has a sense of humor. The test is the exact same thing as the study guide. I never really paid attention in class because lectures were boring but I had a A the entire semester. There are 3 tests with access projects that make up your grade. Definitely an easy class to take.

You learn, but he's also the easiest COB professor I've had. Study guides are exactly like the questions on the test (which are all less than 30 questions and all multiple choice). Definitely take him.

he's really funny, he has stories to relate to every thing we learn. sit in the front row and pay attention because his class is so enjoyable, you don't want to miss a thing he says. he knows his material, he's worked in the industry. my favorite professor. he has a very dark sense of humor which i looooove. ok bye

This man knows his stuff. He has worked in the industry for a very long time and always applies the material you are learning to real world stuff. He always makes jokes in class and is always open for discussion. Test are exactly the study guide. Best professor.

Definitely the best and easiest class for 204. He gives a study guide before every test that is close to identical to the test. He is funny as well. Wish I could take him again. Access is annoying but every 204 class does it. If you can, take him!!!

Awesome teacher.. would take again! His study guides ARE literally the test... so make sure you show up to class to receive the study guide & there for when he goes over it... he will tell you what to pay attention to for the test! Super nice and funny and he goes out of his way to make lectures funny and realistic. One of the best I've taken!

This exams are exactly whats on his study guide so do that and you'll get a good grade. No quizzes. His labs are step by step guided and worth a good chunk so just complete them. Basically gives you the answers to exams. Class was an easy A, didn't have to use textbook at all. Always uses real world examples, and sneaks in really useful life advice. TAKE HIM

Doesn't care if you show up to class, but you're guaranteed to laugh at least once if you do. The labs are a big part of your grade and only take about 5 minutes each. Group project at the end with super laid-back presentations. Use the study guides for exams and you'll be more than okay. I opened the book once. Great professor, great guy.

A great professor that is very knowledgeable in their field, and quite funny as well. He gives you all the information that you need in class and the answers to tests in his in-class reviews. This class is definitely a grade booster, especially if you're going into COB. Also, don't waste money on the textbook, because you don't really need it.

His lectures are always very engaging and he loves giving life advice. He really just wants to see his students succeed. Tests are basically the study guide with a few application questions here and there. No hw except for some Access stuff and a few worksheets. He also doesnt require a textbook. An A is a 95 & up though.

He is really nice and understanding. There are 2 tests and a final that are worth a lot but if you study the study guide he gives you will ace it. The Access homework and project can be a pain but he helps if you have questions. You do not need the MIS textbook, but you do need the access textbook.

Jim is a terrific professor, a real gem at JMU. He is currently running for public office and you can tell his personality fits the role. Professor Jewett is absolutely hilarious in lectures and his course material is as easy as it comes. If you want an easy A this is the professor to take. 10/10.

Jim Jewett is a cool guy; he seems to care about his students. I wish his lectures were more interactive, because sometimes they get super boring. There isn't much work other than weekly quizzes and a few tests. I would take him again.

Easy A if you do the homework problems and go to lecture. Professor Jewett is super knowledgeable about CIS/IT and makes the lectures interesting. Very nice and understanding professor, definitely recommend him.

If you can get into his COB 291 class.. do it. He really cares about grades and doesn't want his students to do badly in this class as most professors do. He is so funny and knows how to teach a hard topic like 291. Class isn't mandatory but if you don't go you simply won't do well. Best 291 professor there is.

Jewett is a great professor to take. His glass is super simple with easy grading and test. He gives out review guides before every test which are very helpful. He gives super good life advice as well as teaches the class great. Best 204 professor.

I didn't learn a whole lot in this class, but it was super easy. Homeworks every week that you had unlimited attempts to complete, about 3 tests and a cumulative final, and a group project. All pretty easy.

if you can take Jewett for 291, DO IT! I swear he is the best and he doesn't speak gibberish when he's teaching. He actually cares about his student's grades and wants them to do good in his class. He's very helpful during office hours and doesn't brush you off! His exams are on paper and in Excel. If you practice, you'll do great! He's the best!

I took him for 204 and 291! I love him! He's so straightforward. A lot of people say his class is easy but 291 is hard stuff. It's an easy A if you put in the work and ask for help. It's very excel heavy. Homeworks and quizzes are on WebAssign and exams on Excel. Love him would take him again! He's very funny!

Best professor i hope he never leaves JMU. I loved his class he's a funny guy and seems to have such a interesting life and shares it with the class. Tests are soooo easy he gives a study guide and everything on the guide will be on the test. LOVE HIM!!

Took Jewett for both 204 and 291 and he is the best COB professor by far. He's super funny and his classes aren't that boring if you actually pay attention. Exams are actually related to the homework and what we do in class. Assignments are on WebAssign or Canvas and have unlimited attempts so they're an easy 100. All the exams were online too.

He is 100% better than the other 291 classes, TAKE HIM, he is reasonable, wants you to succeed. Class is test heavy and tests creating excel spreadsheets and questions on paper. He explains the material and posts the slides online. He also has some homework but provides videos so you know how to do them. BEST PROFESSOR OUT THERE.

Prof. Jewett is a great professor. He values his students learning and application of the topics to help them in real world. This class is extremely EXCEL and test heavy, so as long as you understand the topics and excel process, you should do well. Do not completely underestimate this class, as you will need to know what you are doing on the tests

Jewett's 291 class is good and more Excel-centric than some of the other classes but I do think it is more realistic about what you will actually ever have to do in a job than a lot of the math that is behind the Excel work. He is nice and helpful if you need it outside of class, just make sure you know what you're doing and why. Great for 204 too!

As of right now, I am taking him and the class is super easy; I mean really easy. The class is total of 100 points and I did my test 2 right now and it is all sourced from the quizzes we do in class. The quizzes are super easy as well and for attendance it doesn't matter you're not graded on it. TAKE HIM IT IS AN ABSOLUTE BLESSING OF A PROFESSOR!!!

The go-to for COB 291. I took him for 204 as well and it was also a great experience. He has his student's success on the top of his mind and is able to take complex concepts and make it more understandable. Funniest professor I've ever had.

I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH PROFESSOR JEWETT IS AWESOME! The class was effortless. Our tests and the final were open, as in no lockdown browser. He's a chill guy and super funny, too. It was an absolute blessing to take him as a professor. I wish I had gotten him for 291. I love this guy. IF YOU GET THE CHANCE TAKE HIM, IT IS A GOD'S GIFT! An easy A too.

He is the best professor in COB the exams and assignments are straight forward sadly he is retiring after this semester

I had Jewett Jr not Sr, he is a very nice guy. Content is a little hard to understand since he just pretty much read directly from slides, but if you go to his office hours he will be happy to help. He did often go on tangents about his family and small business, but it was a nice break. I'm in a MW aka 75 minutes but he usually ends class early.

He's a really easy nice teacher. I will say his classes are very boring especially if you are just taking this class because you have to and arn't actually interested in CIS. Very lecture heavy but his tests are really easy as they are literally the same questions he puts down for the practice quizzes. Overall, I would take this class.

Professor Jewett is genuinely a really nice guy. He is very caring and understanding when it comes to random issues out of your control. His classes can be boring and confusing at times, but he is overall very knowledgeable about what he teaches. Funny guy, really enjoyed his class. If you can, be sure to try and get Prof Jewett for COB 204.
