any teacher that tells a class that he is bored with them and can't wait for the semester to be over should not be getting my money for his salary. we all have jobs to do, and sometimes they are boring. he seems like a decent guy, but seems arrogant too.
Great teacher...very interesting. He actually works with people, so some of his stories are absolutely amazing. Ask him about the guy in the rapid that kept rubbing up against women...he handled it great...definitely hot...but more important great prof!

Social Psych was awesome with him. Really funny guy and enjoys class participation. Totally effective. Ask him about the young sexually active girl and her picture of Mickey Mouse.
Very good prof!
Had him for abnormal psychology. He is a good teacher and gives a lot of examples to make it interesting. The only thing is that he isn't very friendly, and he seems kind of arrogant. Also, I'm not sure how fair he grades on class participation.
This professor has a dry sense of humor, and is very engaging. Also, he is very quick to offer help of any kind. His expectations are clear, and if you meet them and study, you will do well. He doesn't care for slackers (and really, people, why should he?). Take his class only if you are prepared to do your work and LEARN!
Tests aren't that hard if you study. His notes aren't relevant. All about reading and studying the book. Some what of a good grader, should prepare for tests a bit better though. Over all, a good prof
Need to read! He tests based on comprehension, not necessarily what is written. Be sure to study for exams! Very helpful and good with communication.
Definitely has his favorites, beware if you are on his "not favorite" list. Discussions and Power Points aren't on the test, so study the book. Overall, informative class. Would I take him again, hum???
Does not cover all materials on test. Does not give study guides. Very difficult to get a good grade
Tests are hard but he is excellent for lectures. he puts things in a way you can understand
I had him for an online class. I have taken every other Psych class at the school, I have a 4.0 grade point average, and he is not helpful, gives no feedback. I made the mistake of asking for some and he responded as if I was a moron for wanting to know how I could to better next time. His sence of humor doesn't transmit well on line.
This teacher is very interesting and funny to listen to. But be sure to read the chapters in the book. That is basically where he gets all of his test questions. And his tests are HARD! You cannot go with what he teaches you in the class and take the test. READ THE CHAPTERS!! Overall it was a fun class.
I took a class with him before, so I knew what I was getting into...but it doesn't get any better, in fact, it was worse. Not only does his ego take up the entire room, his arrogance is enough turn you off on psych. If you're a "non-tradional" student, as he likes to mention over and over, the stats are against you.
this guy is a smart ass.
I had him online for phsy151 and i swear it was so easy. i mean, i thought i was failing and ended up with a b. don't know how. but i have him for human development and he's cool. he's funny and is a good teacher. lots of test questions are from the book though. and they're not easy tests.
This teacher is ridiculous. I'm taking his online Social Psychology class, and it SHOULD be done through ANGEL. He insists on using personal email. In an online class, you would expect your assignments to be posted on ANGEL, and once again... he send abunch of extra assignments through personal email. And hes not specific about class guidelines!
He is not a good teacher at all! I did the class on the internet, and it took him forever to answer any questions I had; also his test are very hard, do not study or bother writing the outline of the chapters because that is not what is on the test! Do not get this professor unless you have no other choice!
This guy is one of my favorite psych teachers, he is very knowledgeable and his tests are easy if you read the text. Don't bother taking notes in his class, he tests straight from the book so just read your chapters. DO NOT TAKE HIM ONLINE, he has said in class he purposely makes his online classes harder.
unclear email communication, does not use angel. does not consistently convey grades for assignments o you.
This teacher was awful. He did not care to help student's except the ones he flirted with.He is soo into his self,His online part of the class is ridiculous!DO NOT TAKE HIM..he gave me an F so I took the class with someone else and got an A!
I had him for intro to psych and he tricked the whole class on the first test! He said that the test will be on concepts and not definition and he made a lot of the test on definition! He will also barely if at all help you understand certain things if you ask him after class. He is very not into helping his students. I can say that his lectures were interesting but it doesn't help if he ignores the needs of his students.
I did the comment before and it changes my score overall for him to a 4 and he wouldn't deserve a 4 unless that is when he quits and a fair professor takes his place. Oh and as someone said on here don't bother taking notes because he tells you that the notes will be on test and they aren't. He is arrogant and condescending to his class.
Useless modules that have no relevance to the material in the tests. Communication and email responses are horrible with no clarity. Stinks that he is the only online instructor for this class.
Great teacher. People complain because his classes are hard. Grow up your in college.
very challenging but you learn a lot in his class. if you don't keep up with the readings, you're in trouble. otherwise great teacher, great guy. form a study group with other people in your class and it'll definitely helped out a lot. i'd recommend him if it's part of your major, otherwise i would not.
no comment
He was such a great teacher. Just make sure you do the reading. He is challenging, but not over bearing. If you attend class and pay attention to his power points, he pretty much gives away whats on his tests.
Do not take his online class!! His quizzes are extremely hard, sometimes it seems as if all the answers could be correct. Or he will pick a specific sentence right out of the chapter and leave one word out. It ridiculous how difficult he makes his quizzes..
I am a hard working student who read all materials and took notes in this on line class. His tests are very difficult and amount of work for class is overwhelming! I have a high GPA and had to drop this class! Do not recommend at all!!!
I actually love jordan! his lectures are fun and he is definitely entertaining. However, exams bring your grade down because theres alot of tricky questions! Overall, i would say take him for the experience! :)
I absolutely love jordan, he is funny and smart he always makes class interesting and fun, i always look for classes of his to take. He is not easy but he is fair
he is an excellent professor
Pretty much just do your work but if you do have a problem he sometimes does take a while to reply back to you. I had him for an online class and it wasn't too bad until it came to exams and papers. If you can find someone else as a teacher then do so, if not he's not too bad.
Took this class online. He posted a syllabus at the beginning of the semester & then changed it & failed to mention it until after the first Module. His Calendar, syllabus, & grading for assignments do no coordinate. He is arrogant in his responses. Failed to give proper credit for assignments, poor or no response to emails. DO NOT TAKE JORDAN.
An excellent professor, was very clear in his expectations and was hasty in responding to student questions and concerns. Would definitely recommend.
I was nervous taking him based on the comments, but he was fine! All reading was from book w/essays to complete per chapter. Exams were ok except mistakes on some questions. The "correct" answers contradicted the book. I e-mailed him each time & he was great about fixing, but it was tedious. Wouldn't have gotten an A if I didn't review my exams.
Fantastic teacher who knows the subject very well and is funny and helpful. He is very fair with grading. The exams and essays are difficult and he expects critical thinking. Exams are application of definitions mostly. Anything he spends time talking about in lecture will likely be on the exam. Some answers you will only get by reading the book.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND! Every quiz taken online I felt that I had answered most questions correctly. Every grade was a C or LESS. Since you can never look at your completed quiz, you cannot see why or where you are making errors. 20 question on two chapters of material and often there are one or two question never covered in lecture or textbook. F
Highly do not recommend taking this professor!! Exams are over topics not covered in lectures and appears very condescending and arrogant to students. Do not take him.
Highly do not recommend taking this professor!
He was useless in sending emails too seeing that he wouldn't respond. Tests had questions never covered in readings, his arrogance was through the roof. I do not recommend this Professor to anyone. He is terrible.
Terrible instructor, didn't respond to emails sent to him or responded late. Unapproachable and when talked to felt the need to be arrogant. Put questions on quizzes that were not covered in the issued reading. Has to be one of the worst professors out there. Do not take his class.
Horrible !! It seems like he thinks online students are lazy. Quizzes are pretty much impossible to get an A on. 20 minutes for 20 questions you dont even have time to process the question bc they are worded terrible. web reviews and discussions are alot of work and only worth 15 points. i studied so much i deserved an A but got a C in class.
I saw several derog posts about Prof Jordan but to me he was decent & fair. He knows his stuff & while tests are difficult, when you look up what you got wrong, it is always in the material. I thought he was funny & his lectures, while long, were interesting. Don't think because it's an online course it will be easy, you'll have to work hard.
I took this class online and i regret it. He is a very tough grader and really strict. The quizzes were really hard and you only had 20 minutes for 20 questions. You also had to watch videos and comment on them and some videos were an hour long. I met him once and he seemed stuck up and conceited.
I really enjoyed taking Jordan's research methods class. He is a meticulous grader though, so be prepared to do a lot of revisions. He isn't as bad as everyone says he is. He is more than willing to help and explain things, and if you pay attention you will do fine. The text wasn't used much, but the APA manual will be your new best friend.
I thought his tests were very tough. I took as an online class and felt like you had to have the text material memorized for his exams. I struggled in this class and I read and studied. Don't recommend him.
It takes forever for him to email you back. Not helpful at all. Not understanding at all. I was able to get an A in biochem, A in bioethics, B in A&P and got a C In this class. Doesn't make sense. You literally need to read two chapters in a day and then hope that you remembered all 60 pages because its open book but no time to look for answers.
He definitely makes you work for your grade, but you can always come to him with questions about the coursework or anything psych field related and he'll help you out. I found him very motivational!
He is old school. Do the reading on your own, GET HELP IF YOU NEED IT and study. This isn't high school.
I thought he was funny and he definitely knows what he's talking about. Answers any questions students had. The tests are tough, but as long as you do what he asks of you, you'll pass. You must read the book and study. He makes you read every chapter, and it's necessary to pass. Also, make sure you do the online discussions.
Whatever you do, do NOT take his courses online. He expects you to use a mix of Canvas and personal email. He also refuses to write out a proper schedule, instead just telling you what you need to do every 4 weeks. The tests open on the day they are due, so if you're taking the class online because you have some days you're too busy, too bad.
he is the worst professor I've ever taken. I do not recommend him, I wouldn't take any class of his online. you have to memorize the entire book for quizzes. no matter how long you study you'll still fail. I had to drop the course because I failed every assignment. I turned in everything on time but he is not clear of what he wants.
You will need to memorize the text book in order to get an A or B. Doesn't have tests but the quizzes are 40% of your grade. His lectures are prerecorded and power points but they both don't always line up with text. almost like he hasn't updated the info to the new book. So much homework. A gen-ed shouldn't be this hard and demanding. Go elsewhere
Very tough teacher, not really understanding at all. Wouldn't recommend anyone to take him.
They say there are a few teachers in your life who will pave the way for the rest of it, and Jim Jordan was really one of those. In class he's good at professionally guiding lively discussions, explains notes thoroughly, and does group activities to emphasize learning. It'll be fun, but don't expect it'll be easy. He won't accept excuses or "can't"
I've read a few reviews that said things like "you have to memorize the whole book", Professor Jordan's tests are based on comprehension and application and aren't simple vocabulary and true and false. It forces you to truly understand and learn the material and not just memorize terms. If you actually want to learn then you'll do fine.
I am taking his class online right now. There are many reasons why I do NOT recommend this professor. There is very little interaction on the canvas website. It takes forever for him to reply to messages. He has silly requirements for e-mailing assignments. Does not work with you at all if you have extenuating circumstances.
The professor gave practice quizzes that in no way related to the real quiz except for maybe 2 questions. The best way to pass is to literally memorize each chapter of the textbook. Just very hard and complicated when it could be so mich more clear and concise.
His on line class is horrible!! He is not clear on assignments. Tests do not show up in your To Do lists. You have to search for things you need to do. He will change the syllabus to accommodate his rules. You can't make up anything you miss because you can't find it in his madness. So much harder than it needs to be! Dont take it! Very Arrogant
No doubt his classes are difficult but this is college, not high school. He challenges his students to make sure they actually learn the material. He genuinely wants his students to leave his classroom with more knowledge than before, not just an easy A. He also had entertaining lectures. Highly recommend taking human sexuality in person with him!
I enjoyed this class up until the final paper. I submitted my paper one day late and it dropped my grade from an A to a D. Think he pity passed me. He does NOT accept late work. Also tests were extremely stressful even if you are prepared because you only get 1 minute per question. Good luck!
He isnt willing to help students with questions. Doesnt mind if a student is failing. He doesnt offer extra credit. The work is graded according to what he would have written.
Great instructor, for extra credit he passes out coloring books and you color in Freud's beard and cigar!! But 2 page report on a Dr. Phil episode is to long of an assign
I really liked Prof Jordan for abnormal psychology! His lectures were interesting and he has a good personality. His papers were easy if you follow the instructions given but my biggest complaint was that his tests could be confusing because his slides had little to do with test questions.
This professor is too critical with grading. Not clear in what he is looking for in each assignment. And expects too much with discussion posts and grades especially harshly when it comes to these posts.
He is a harsh grader and it is unclear what he expects for each assignment. He grades papers and discussion posts as if he is looking for something he could have written. It seems as if he could care less about the academic success of his students.
Terrible professor ever !!! Does not give any assignments other than Ted Talks and Tests, thats it. He grades the Ted Talks super strictly and is unclear about what answer hes looking for and gives barely any points if you dont submit what he thinks is the right answer. Terrible he stands and lectures the whole hour and then theres an exam
Absolutely terrible professor, class is made up of test only so makes it impossible to even pass. Grades super tough and gives smart remarks when asked about grading. Cool person but terrible professor by all means
While the class itself can be difficult at times, Prof. Jordan presents the lectures in a way that will help you retain the information. He gives personal examples and goes off on tangents which are typically enjoyable. Most of your grades are not until the end of the semester and hours outside of class will be spent on coursework for an A or B
Challenging but fun
He is a really good professor, and kind. Make sure you read the book. Some say he tests over things that he doesn't cover in class. This is true but he says that ahead of time because there is not enough time to go through all of the material in the limited amount of time. So make sure you read the book. Ask questions if you have them. Good stories
I cant even tell you how many arguments Ive gotten in with him over his grading. I told him my grade on an assignment was wrong and he admitted that he made a mistake but instead of giving me my points back, he decided that he didnt like my response on another part of the assignment so he kept the points off. Avoid taking him if you can!
Very laid back and wants his students to understand and be interested in the material. He relates the subject well to everyday real life cases. Definitely recommend him!
I took the online class but wish I could have participated a class discussion to enhance the learning experience. I believe he is a very good professor. He gives lots of feedback and if you are open to being stretched, he does challenge you to think deeper. If you are willing to learn, you will definitely have opportunity to grow in the class.
This professor is one of the rudest people I have dealt with. I take my time doing my assignments and actually put in effort and its still never enough for him. His grading is so unclear. He makes the questions so broad and isnt specific with what hes asking of you. Not only is he a hard grader, but an unfair one.
When you turned in homework and got things wrong he wouldnt tell you what you did wrong so you couldnt learn from your mistakes
The guy is an idiot. It is an intro class but he thinks it's the most important class you'll ever take in college. I withdrew because he kept railing my grade, probably because he thought it was fun. I will take the course with someone who actually knows how to teach. I would recommend not taking his class if you're considering it.
Gives 3-4 large module homework assignments per semester. Isn't very clear on what he expects to be done on the modules. Doesn't give any feedback when he returns grades. Not sure what scale he grades on, but it's a pretty steep curve. Had two semesters in a row, going on a third and still not clear what is desired of the students.
I had professor Jordon for psych151. Even when I went out of my way multiple times to ask for help he ignored me. I am a teenager who cant drive so I need to take classes online, he doesn't really care he treats you like any other student which is a good thing but he does play favorites. He is very harsh with his grading too.
Had Professor Jordan in Fall 2020. What your effort is, is what your grade is
Jordan had no clear criteria on which he wanted your papers to follow or be graded by. He was unhelpful and did not care whether or not the student passed. I am normally a straight A student and ended up with a B. And he may tell you this, but no, the textbook is not a magic key to passing his class.
I told him about my aunt passing from covid so i could not take a test and he told me that i should have told him earlier and said it was not an excuse. This man sucks at his job and I would never consider taking this class to ANYONE.
He grades all assignments harshly and gives no input to students. Its an intro to psychology course, it should not be treated like medical school. The quizzes content is never the chapter it is listed under and no essay exam is acceptable to him. Please never take his classes if you genuinely want to enjoy school.
His lectures are interesting, he is super nice and he is doing a good job through his online classes and feedback to us students. I respect him and enjoyed his class!
I really liked his teaching style, used a lot of real life examples to explain key ideas from the book. The chapters are a little long but for the most part, interesting. Quizzes can be challenging but once you understand the expectations, they seem to get easier. I felt ready to move in to higher level classes because I got a good learning base.
I am so enjoying this class. It can be tough but I have learned a lot so feel confident going further into my psych degree. The subject matter was interesting. I was unsure of expectations with the web reviews but he explained after I submitted the first one, where my mistakes were. I have gotten better with writing and my grade went up.
Great class!
I loved the material covered in this course, but this was the most difficult professor I have encountered at LCCC. Professor Jordan is a very harsh grader and gives minimal feedback. I would not recommend taking his courses.
If you care about actually learning the subject of the class you are in he is worth it
Professor Jordan made the subject interesting with experiences and web reviews. The text book chapters were long but most of the material was interesting. I feel prepared for my 200 level courses knowing that I grasped the intro material.
Professor Jordan is a very good prof. I was unsure of taking an online course but his orientation video helped a lot. the few things I did nor understand, he was willing to explain. After I did a few web reviews I got the hang of it. You do have to study and not a class that you can just sit back and expect a good grade.
I took prof Jordan's Quantitative Methods class online lecture and it was not easy. He will not help you much outside the class, no study guides even after we asked him as a class, doc points if you arent active during discussions and if you do not have your camera on. I got an A by following exactly what the book said, he sometimes teaches wrong.
Professor Jordan is a horrible teacher, if you can even call him that. He is unbothered and inconsistent with his feedback, if he even gives any at all. Minimal notes on poor grades, little to no direction with criteria for the course and lack of communication. Will take days to respond and only give short and rude responses not addressing concerns
Learned a lot, good lectures that are posted. Seems like a nice guy.
I really enjoyed this class. I have not had much exposure to psychology so I found it interesting. Some of the module work was hard at first but as I began to understand how to do the experiences and web reviews, it got easier. Prof Jordan was good about getting back to me and he let me know where mistakes were made. He also gave extra credit.
I would not recommend Professor Jordan at all! He is VERY unclear with his expectations, and modules were hard to read. I spoke with multiple people within his class, and all of us were confused. We had no idea what to study at all. Dont take this class if you want to fail, pick up a class with another professor that actually cares.
Practice quizzes do not help with your exam. No matter how much you study you cannot pass this class and will feel defeated and dumb. This professor wants you to memorize all you have read and will pull out essay questions that you will not remember. Stay clear and find a different professor if you want to pass. What a joke and a waste of my time.
Very hard class. Thankfully I could devote a lot of my time, 20+ hours a week, and still averaged a 60% on the quizzes. Practice quizzes don't help, neither do the PowerPoints, truly the hardest class I've ever taken. The modules are what saved my grade, make sure you read and watch the ted talks/interviews on the disorders. Did offer extra credit!
Modules are interesting. Tests not too bad if you read the textbook.
Easy course.
Good class. Seemed like a lot of reading at first but once I paced myself did not seem bad at all. I feel good going into higher level courses now that I had this class. Prof Jordan was good about getting back to me. It is important to know the reading.
Intro to Psychology was good class. You need to be focused and take the class seriously. I learned a lot even though I am not a psych major. I would definitely take prof Jordan again.
I took this class online and found it difficult in the beginning. Professor Jordan helped me to navigate the sites and modules. Everything is spelled out in syllabus and I recommend all students take time to know it because he does refer back to it. There are orientation videos too that help.
Good class. You need to read the chapters to get everything. Had difficulty on quizzes in the beginning but got better. Prof Jordan gets back to you in a decent amount of time and answers questions. I enjoyed the class and there was extra credit. I would take him again for another class.
I am taking his online intro class this summer. Good class. Quiz 1 and 2 kind of hard but got the hang of what was expected and started doing better.
The few times I asked questions (everything sent during his availability period), he either completely ignored them or sent a snarky remark. I don't expect to be spoonfed information, but at least point me in the right direction. He told me what I did wrong but never tried to give further guidance (even when asked).
I've taken multiple classes with him and they are all very interesting and I learned a lot. But, he does not give good feedback and sometimes I feel does not grade fairly. You'll definitely need to read and take notes to do well in this class.
I would do a hard pass on any PSYCH taught by Jim Jordan. It was very apparent at the course onset that a skewed approach to pedagogy was on display. Nothing wrong with rigorous & challenging curricula, but you may give 100% effort and still end with a poor achievement measure due to the intent of the instructor and not your ability as a student.
I took this class as I thought it would be very interesting. I have not learned a single thing from this course. Professor Jordan does not provide enough information for the quizzes/assignments/etc. This is a very difficult class. Make sure you read the lessons and STUDY a lot. The modules are what is going to save my grade.
It is important to have a grasp on the material as the class is cumulative. I took this in person and the lectures are excellent. The topics are connected to real world examples which helped me to better comprehend them. The homework is not too extensive. He is not a teacher that will just give you all the answers. You will learn a lot!
Quizzes are a little tough but other assignments are not. Not too hard to get a good grade.
Excellent teacher. He really tries to help you in every way possible. Took him for an intro level class which may explain the lack of difficulty, but have never heard anything negative about him.
Very caring, enthusiastic, and actively engage with the class. Always open to answering questions and very friendly. 10/10
I recently took a class with Prof Jordan. I'll be taking multiple more with him. I will start with the not so good. First, his grading scale is different. I don't like submitting assignments through email. His tests were from text material and they were hard! Good, he offered multiple extra credit. He graded fairly. He's nice and responded promptl
I've taken prof Jordan in the past. In person vs online is totally a different experience. He gave amazing lectures, real life examples. He truly wants you to understand, so ask the questions. He'll go in more depth. Obv it's not an easy course, that would be a different teacher, but I did LEARN. He is a nice guy too, no complaints
Prof Jordan has recorded lectures so watch them. The practice quizzes have nothing to do with the actual quizzes so honestly I wouldn't waste your time doing them. READ. The modules can be time inducing but easy A if you answer correctly and incorporate text material. He does take quite a while to grade and it's all submitted through email
Great introductory class. You have to read the textbook, but if you're interested in psych, it's not bad. His coursework is different than other professors, you don't have weekly deadlines, you have bulk assignments. His lectures are simple but help supplement the reading and contain the information needed for essays. Answers questions within days
Great professor who really wants students to succeed. Lectures cover the textbook well, and using resources like Unstuckstudy alongside the course materials can make the quizzes manageable. Attendance is a must, but the workload is reasonable.
one of the WORST professors i have EVER HAD!!! I had a death in the family and missed the first exam. After I explained that and forwarded the obituary he never let me redo it and said i had to email before the assignment was due. I HAD A 24 HOUR WINDOW. ALSO HARSH GRADER. I WISH I NEVER TOOK THIS CLASS
Run. Worst class I have ever taken at LCCC. I will never take another course of his again. You need to quote him verbatim when he asks for an answer.
He's a nice enough guy and I didn't hate the class (I thought it was very interesting actually) but he's an extremely tough grader. For reference, I got a D when I took this class with him and an A+ when I decided to retake it. Do with that information what you will.
Interesting lectures
Not a horrendous professor and can be funny but beware of the tests. The entire grade was based off of 6 assignments and I would consistently get the some highest grades on tests in the class but my grade would only be an 80-85%...
