I liked Kakalios despite my hatred for physics. Having no prior physics knowledge was a nightmare. There is so much content covered in the semester that it became overwhelming quick, so get help before it's too late. The curve is generous but the course is still difficult. Funny prof, but went through derivations quick and was confusing at times

Overall good teacher, his lectures are funny and he tries to make them entertaining which was much needed since I had it at 9AM. Definitely important to read the textbook but he does a good job teaching, the lectures were super helpful so I wouldnt skip them. If you like superheroes youll love this guy.

Professor Kakalios was a great guy and a great professor. From what I heard from other students, he was probably the best out of all the others for 1301W. The only problem is the course itself and its difficulty. PHYS 1301W is a weed-out class and is very challenging. If you don't do the homework and put in the work, your grade will reflect it.

James always kept the class entertained with his funny slideshows and cool demos. Although the content itself was difficult he did an amazing job teaching it thoroughly. Also, if you love marvel, he is your guy. He has demos where you find the physics behind the superheroes. Like he says, "it can't be in a comic book if it wasn't real".

Kakalios is a very intelligent and funny professor, however he is not great at teaching his knowledge to the students. There were many points during the course where I was extremely confused and had no idea what he was doing or demonstrating. Overall, great guy, not so great teacher.

fun guy TBH. not sure how much i learned, phys 3 is a useless class esp. when im already taking thermo classes etc. he has a wikipedia page. tests use ~his~ equation sheet and then all of the practice and most of the real problems start with an formula not on there... bruh. also randomly rescheduled quizzes from the syllabus, not great for my work.

The course material was difficult to understand and for a while I thought I would fail because I didn't know the grading guidelines. I got a 63 which was a B so that should tell you about difficulty of the class. He seemed like an alright professor though.

Honestly, James is a good and funny guy, but I would personally not want to take him ever again. The lectures were just him yapping about random stuff. The class wasn't too hard, just boring. The lab was fairly fun and was 30% of the grade, while the quizzes and final were 70%.
