Keefe's class is extremely easy. Just read the required material and you will get an A on the tests every time. He gets a little frustrated sometimes if he has to repeat himself, though.
Great teacher. Very easy class. That was the only 3 hour class I have made an A in my whole 3 years being here at Texas State. Really nice guy but he's a dork. He likes Star Wars... which is pretty awesome! I recommend Keefe!
This guy was the most helpful teacher I've ever had in college. Went above and beyond to help me out when I went to his office hours and explained my situation with so he worked with me more then he had too. No required attendance but be sure to go to class at least 80% of the time to understand the material better, not hard, again great teacher
Keefe is a decent instructor, but the only way to do well in this class is by paying close attention and then practicing the material on your own outside of class or by already knowing Microsoft Office. Do all lab assignments, they're easy and they make up 25% of your grade. Don't get distracted in class by the internet. Pay attention.
Awesome teacher, so easy. Class time is mostly spent playing games and checking facebook but his quizzes reteach everything in the test and they have hints and shoiw you how to do it. Take him and enjoy all the free time you will have.
I took his class during the summer but it was SOOOO easy!!! If you go to class and just listen to his lectures (although they may be boring) you will pass the class! He is a nice man and is helpful if you need anything outside of class. And if you have any questions during the tests, just ask him and he will pretty much give you the answers.
Pretty easy prof. If you are taking CIS 1323 take this guy! You dont even need to show up to every class to make an A.
You dont need textbook. It is easy class cause we've all been using the computer since we were like 5 years old and Prof Keefe is like 60 teaching it to us. But if youre bad at going to class like me and want someone who is willing to help you and let you turn in late homework, Keefe is the guy! take him in summer to get it over with quick and easy
DO NOT TAKE for statistics!!! He barely teaches the material at all, so you have to teach yourself through Hawkes. Not worth it!!
Surprisingly difficult! I did not take this class very seriously because I thought it was a simple computer class, but the tests are actually hard. And the material covered on his tests mostly come from in class work, but attendance isn't required. He is really sweet though!
Be warned: prof lectures off PowerPoint slides and rambles some. Otherwise, a pretty nice guy. Does his best to help you and answer your questions. Did show some interesting videos on various IT topics. There were 4 multiple choices exams—usually just definitions and such. For the 4 homework assignments, he would help us get started during lab.
Takes role at the beginning of class, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't mandatory, as there were usually only 80 people there out of the usual 200. Not a bad teacher though, he is a very nice and helpful man. Tests are exactly like the homework, you just have to take them in a computer lab. First couple weeks are basic computer knowledge.
I took this prof because I have had him from a previous course. This experience was quite different. He sometimes take attendance, rambles and goes over PowerPoints. There were 4 exams and 4 hw assignments. The test come straight from the book but it is very indepth questions so make sure you actually know what you read. I would not recommend him!
The exams for this course would cover some of the most minute details covered in the text and lectures. Sample questions were given but it was difficult finding the answers because there was often more than one answer. Mr. Keefe did not communicate through email effectively and failed to answer a majority of my questions.
If you want an easy A, take him. However he uses a software called SAM and its freaking AWFUL. If you go in an challenge a grade, he'll add points as long as you show you know the material. Didn't use the book once. BORING class, and you might not learn much if you don't stay focused, which is hard to do.
In class, he goes over homework (I did my homework then since I brought a computer), don't waste your money on the books. Covered material well, but MIND NUMBING AND BORING. Energy drinks were the only things that kept me awake. Test and quiz are like the homeworks. Kind teacher, but really boring and gets off topic really easily. However, easy A.
Very helpful, and understanding.. definitely a must take. Took it during the summer it was short and extremely fun.
Class is easy, attendance is pointless as long as you keep up with SAM Assignments. Hes a nice guy aced his tests on SAM program
It's basically an online class. He takes attendance randomly that's the only reason I went. You teach yourself online and do online assignments and he just rambles and goes over examples and has a completely different method than what you learned online. Scatter brained and really really boring. I do not recommend at all.
He cares about his students very much and gives opportunity to make better grades for an extra work. If you do all the work he asked for show up and show him that you've tried he will help. He makes an extra effort to explain cleary and cares about each student understanding. He walks around and watch every student work basically one of my favorite
He is a very goofy teacher but he is an easy grader and is always willing to help you out. He's does online home works which teach you how to do the work for the exams so you don't have to go to class. Easiest A I've ever made in a class and the first time I took business stats I dropped bc it was so hard. TAKE HIM
Homework is all digital (and lots of it). Lectures are generally boring. This teacher connects with students, and works with them if needed. For Business Statistics, this was a pretty easy class. No textbook, however you will need a passcode for the online homework- and that has all the information you will need. (used Hawkes)
Probably one of the nicest people I have ever met. Just keep up with the online certifications and you'll do fine on the texts, which are short and to the point. If you complete your certifications online in time there is no reason why you shouldn't make and A. Great professor and I truly enjoyed his class.
Such a nice guy. Lectures are boring but do your best to pay attention, and definitely keep up with the homework assignments every day. By doing so, there is no reason why you don't have an A in this class. Just don't push off the homework assignments until the last minute because they take time and patience. No textbook needed.
Always enthusiastic and helpful. Love his old school humor vibe. TAKE HIM FOR CIS 1323.
Make sure you keep up with SIMnet and are aware of all your assignments. It's very easy to miss one as he doesn't really announce every lesson. He takes attendance but you don't have to listen in order to pass. Just do the lessons online over again before the exam and you will pass just fine. Everything is self-explanatory so it's manageable.
Very nice guy. Try and go to class because it bugs him when a lot of people don't show up. Just do the assignments, study for a couple of hours before the exam and you should get an A.
He is a very nice guy, easy class as long as you keep up with the homework. Attendance is not mandatory but he does take role. Tests can get tricky but just go over the online textbook right before the test and you'll be golden (all the examples are the same ones on the test for the first part).
Professor Keefe is a good professor, his lectures can be boring but that's just statistics in general. Most of the work is done on Hawkes Learning, it's a solid class if you study the notes. He also lets you bring a sheet of notes to the exams, so it makes it easier. He knows stats isn't fun and hard so he tries to make it as easy as he can for you
Super nice, funny guy! He made this course incredibly straightforward and simple. I was so afraid of this class, but will end up finishing with a B. I could have achieved an A if I tried a little harder. Anyway, he let's you bring a sheet of notes to the tests which is incredibly helpful. All the tests are relevant to course material.
This was a pretty good class. The class itself was a little boring. He took role but it's not mandatory. If you don't do the homework's and projects ahead of time it can pile up. Some tests can be difficult so study well for some of them. Professor Keefe is a swell guy so don't hesitate to email or call if you're having trouble.
Cons are: boring class only going over PW slides and I didn't learn enough from his class. Pros: Understandable if you have life situations, exam & HW are easy. In conclusion, I wouldn't say easy A because what he talks about in class is not what is in the test, but if you don't care about learning and just pass take him, others I don't recommend.
You don't have to go to class to pass but make sure you make time to teach yourself using Hawkes. Very time consuming class, but if you study and do all the homework before each test you should do fine. He definitely tries to make it as easy for you as he can by letting you bring a notes page to each test.
He is the man you've been looking for.
Super easy class. Lectures are boring, but he's a super sweet guy and really cares for his students.
Really nice guy, wants you to do well. His lectures are boring, but I cut him some slack since there's no way to make stats interesting. All homework is done through Hawkes and Excel, very easy stuff. Get a cheat sheet for every test so take advantage of that. I suggest you learn how to do problems through the calculator, and you'll be set for an A
I think he is the best stats professor in the QMST department. However, his exams are every difficult. Do the projects and homeworks, those are easy 100s and will bump your grade up a letter grade or more.
Get above an 80 on the exams and do the homework and you'll get an A. Once passed the first few weeks you do need to study, you have to do it EXACTLY as taught. Homework isn't bad but it does take a long time and is insanely boring. Only con: he gives attendance at the beginning of class, lots of people walk out during class. Really annoying.
If you do the homework, you should get at least a B
Professor Keefe is a cool guy. His lectures are pretty boring but his tests are so easy compared to other professors. This was my second time taking the class with a different professor and did so much better. Make sure that you do the Hawkes assignments online, the tests are exactly like the homework
Loved this professor, hes so understanding and caring. Very lenient.
The lectures are boring but do try to go to class! He gives an extra point at the attend for attending. Do the homework and semi listen in class and its an easy A for sure. You get a whole page of cheat sheet notes per test also
I took this Python class over the summer and it was a great stepping stone between the first visual programming class and the second one. He goes over functions and loops in depth more. There is no visual aspect of the coding so its just scripts. That leaves more time to focus on the code. I highly recommend this class.
Lectures are so boring but Keefe is awesome. He lets you use a full sheet of paper for cheat sheet on test and you can put whatever you want on it. Test are so easy. The only pain in this class is the Hawkes homework assignments, but it does teach you have to solve problems. Easy A and way better than any other QMST professor at Texas State.
Well stats is boring but Keefe is the man. Compared to other professors my friends have taken Keefe is definitely the way to go if you're worried about this class like I was. He walks you through the excel homework and lets you use a cheat sheet on the exam.
Needs is one of the better Math teachers at Texas State. He is always walking in with a huge smile on his face ready to teach a difficult subject. He is one of the best teachers I have ever taken! I would always recommend him over anyone else, plus you get a full page cheat sheet for the test, and he will walk through all of the online homework!
Keefe is super nice and always available for office hours! The content is pretty easy and he condenses it down to the essentials you need to know. I got As on all the tests by completing the online hw in class as he lectured, so I could ask questions if I had trouble.
As long as you do the practice questions on Hawkes, you will make high B or A in this class. You will not learn from his lectures. He is a sweet guy but its a teach yourself kind of class. Master the online homework questions and you are good to go for the exams. Test 4 he throws a curve ball and does not pull questions from online.
Took Stats in the summer; If you show up, do the homework, and take good notes there's noway you shouldn't make an A. He lets you use a cheat sheet that's a whole page.
Keefe was overall just good. He was really kind and understanding with homework. First exams were easy, final was weirdly hard but still not bad. Allows a whole cheat sheet for exams. He would help anyone who needed it and the only thing he wanted was class participation. Homework program was really good. I called him my statistics grandpa.
Professor Keefe realizes that Stats is not fun nor easy and tries his best to help you succeed. Page (front and back) of notes for every exam, including the final. Homework is easy and actually helps a good bit. But attendance is worth a portion of your grade, and he words questions more like how he goes over in class. So don't just skip class.
He is very passionate about statistics. You don't have to go to class. Online homework due before every exam. More of a "teach yourself" class. Very easy. Do yourself a favor and take his class.
Exams are not at all like HWs. He doesn't have "his" material at all to teach. Goes over couple of Hawkes questions in class. Will not curve or drop any lowest grade. Very tough grader. Only 30 questions on exams and wastes a lot of time doing nonsense stuff before exam that takes away a good amount of time you can use for exam. Self learned calss!
He has been the worst professor I have had at Texas State. He does not teach during class and the Hawk's homework is nothing like the exams. I worked really hard outside the classroom to do well and still made C's on his tests. I would NOT recommend taking. You will struggle the entire semester.
Cool professor, but the material is so difficult. There are homeworks to do before each exam. Don't wait til the last minute to do them. They take a long time to complete. There are two excel homeworks. Uses attendance code. He allows one cheat sheet per exam, which you will turn in along with the exam. Nice man, just b-stats is super hard!
Keefe was a really cool and funny teacher, but his lectures are so boring bc he speaks really low and his voice is soft. You learn everything from Hawkes and we get cheat cheats for the test. The tests arent hard but the final was kind of a curve ball so actually go to class for that exam. 4 tests, lots of hw, no quizzes (hw a test grade)
Such a sweetheart. Lectures can be boring because it's stats, but go to class and you'll learn the calculator hacks for the hw and tests! 4 tests, including a non-cumulative final and you get a cheat sheet for each (front and back) truly a caring professor!!!
His lectures can be somewhat dry, but overall he really cares about his students doing well and will do anything to help you. Not a lot of homework, you basically just have to have the chapters done before the exam so you can work at your own pace. He is really good about showing short cuts where the calculator does it all for you.
Mr. Keefe tends to be dry, but he has his funny moments. I enjoyed his class because he explained the concepts well. Textbook & homework are all through Hawkes Learning, which was easy to use & cost only $85. He shows how to work through tough homework problems. Test cheat sheet is also nice. Solid choice if your other classes are very demanding.
Professor Keefe is a very nice man who obviously cares about the success of his students. Always willing to help. Study the simbooks and youll be golden
This class was basically an online format so I didn't have many interactions with the professor. But he is sweet and tries to help in any way he can, he explained the projects step by step and set back the due dates for a lot of assignments because students started getting behind. Would recommend.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! If you can't take this professor because all his classes are full you better wait til next semester!!!! Ohh man this teacher has mercy on everyone's souls. This is the best professor I've ever had. Take his online course! DO EEETTTT!!!
CIS is a difficult course. However, Professor Keefe constantly pushed back due dates in order to make sure everyone could finish them. The exams are difficult, and the homework and projects are the majority of the course. You have to complete the Simbooks and projects in order to do well on the exams. Great professor though, always willing to help
Loved this guy, gave so many extensions on the homeworks and projects. His zooms were so wholesome and fun. Wish I couldve said goodbye and given him cookies. Thats how he made me feel.
He was so nice. He constantly gave extensions on the work in order to help us succeed. He also would work through projects via zoom, that you werent required to attend. Its not an easy class, but not hard. You really just have to get the work done by the final day. 10/10 would buy him cookies.
The niciest teacher. He was litterally an angel. If you do the work you will get an easy A. He truly cares about his students and their grades.
Mr. Keefe is seriously the nicest professor and genuinely cares so much for his students. There was a lot of work, but he would constantly give extensions on the work in order to help us. He also would work through most projects over zoom, that were optional to attend. It's not an easy class, but not too hard and Mr. Keefe helped pout a lot.
If you get the opportunity take him! I have heard of other CIS professors who made this class harder than it needs to be. Keefe extends assignment all the time and usually does the projects via zoom. He curves every test! I made a 100 on everything but the tests but he would curve it so much it never affected my grade. Just DO NOT procrastinate!
Me. Keefe is a great professor and very understanding. The course overall is quite difficult but he is always willing to help ! I would definitely have him as my professor again.
He is a really sweet teacher! Class was not mandatory and only a few people went, but he made sure everyone got their question answered and understood it well. He rounded my grade up without even asking. If I would have done the homework I would have gotten an A, homework is exactly like test questions. Answers aren't on chegg or quizlet.
Professor Keefe is AWESOME! He was so understanding of circumstances that most professors could care less about. Mr. Keefe really cares for his students. He would push back assignments so his students weren't over loaded, and if he knew you were trying in class he will pass you! So happy I had him as my professor and I STRONGLY suggest taking him!
Such a great professor. with the pandemic going on, he is understanding of all the situations going on and worked with everyone to help work get turned in. overall would take his class again and would recommend for anyone having to take Intro to Microcomp
Keefe is an amazing professor, he is very understanding. He answers any and all questions that you have. Attendance wasnt mandatory but it is helpful to go.
Hes always happy to help you when you need it! Very good professor and hes super nice, explains everything in the class really well.
Professor Keefe is so sweet and really understands his students. I took regular stats in high school that covered the same material but was MUCH harder. He makes business stats a breeze and I definitely recommend going to his lectures as he will show you a much easier way to learn the material rather than trying to learn it yourself. Take his class
Prof Keefe is amazing! He has been the best professor i have ever had through out my 4 years of college! Keefe takes into consideration that we have busy lives too outside of school and gives students the chance to complete the assignments. He wants all of his students to SUCCEED!
Probably the most caring professor I've had so far. The course material was a little tricky if you've never used the programs, but Keefe was really helpful. Lots of lessons on each program, but easy to follow along.
Best professor ever. Just do the homework and show up for the tests & you will pass. He cares about his students and does his best to help. He is understanding and goes over everything in class that you might need help on and posts a recording of lectures. Also super good about replying to emails in a timely manner. Would've failed w/o him.
He is the best professor I had so far . Do all the little assignments it adds up. He will extend you due dates if you ask, very understanding. Will mostly curve exams based on the overall class performance. If you are not great with computers and are scared you won't pass ,or have other stressful classes , then this is the class for you.
Protect Professor Keefe at all costs! I took him for CIS 1323 and now for Stats. He is a caring and understanding professor. His lectures can be boring and attendance is not mandatory. I passed the class by studying the material a couple nights before and never attending lecture. The Hawkes learning modules are identical to the exam questions.
Professor Keefe is very easy to communicate with, and he always responds to his emails. His lectures weren't the best, but if you have specific questions, then he is willing to answer them. Overall, a pretty solid professor.
Very nice and understanding professor. I missed the final and he let me make it up. Best professor.
Prof Keef is the sweetest man alive. I would definitely recommend taking his class, I was scared at fist cause I didn't take stats in high school so I wasn't sure if this class was gonna be really difficult but its really not. Basically you do 2 homework assignments a week (online program w vids) and then eventually take an exam over the homework.
Kindest professor I know. The whole class is on hawkes which is a blessing and a curse. HW can get annoying bc you have to restart if you dont get the certify, but at the same time the work load is very low. He is so kind, but lectures can be boring. sitting right at an A right now with pretty low effort lol, so the class isn't very hard
Very sweet old man who really cares about his students. Course work is easy and not overwhelming and attendance is optional but I always attended because he's so sweet. Wish more professors were like him and less egotistical.
I did fine learning the content on my own but Keefe is super nice and will go out of his way to help you out if you need it. All the homework is due the day of the test and the only two other assignments are due way at the end of the year. The tests are all open note so if you don't do well it's usually on you for coming into the test unprepared.
Such a sweet professor. Class was really straight forward, do the assignments and you'll be good for the test. I did teach myself a lot and could ask him questions if I had any. Pretty easy to pick up on your own if you like math
This class was pretty easy, I mainly learned the concepts using the video lectures from the textbook, and referred to his lectures if I was stuck on something more challenging. Attendance is not mandatory and on test days you just log onto zoom to get a password. You will use excel alot in this class.
Nice older guy but it's hard to rate his teaching when only 8 out of 110 people would show up to the zoom (attendance not required). He goes over some of the practice problems which you must do, so showing up helps. The first half of this class is laughably easy but the second half has a difficulty spike. Everything you learn will be done on Excel.
Keefe is a really sweet professor. Goes over practice problems on Zoom every class and will help any student if they need it. Exams are online, open note, and not proctored.
Professor Keefe is a great professor. He's very chill and he's always happy to help with any questions that a student may have. He goes over a lot of the assignments in class. Lecture's are a bit boring but he also doesn't drag stuff out
Keefe was the sweetest professor ever. He gave you tools to succeed, so if you applied yourself it was an easy A. He was very encouraging too, always giving us inspiring messages. You can tell he cares about students success. Take him!
He is a very kind professor. The class was straightforward and gave you the tools to succeed, so it is an easy A if you apply yourself. He is always happy to help with any student's questions.
He sets all the homework due the day before the exam, and then you take the exam based on the homework. So he gives you ample time to get everything done on your own time. Great, Great guy! TAKE HIM! :)
Professor Keefe is a kind older man who cares about his students. His lectures were easy to follow and there is lots of time to be able to finish all homework assignments. They are all given at once and due the day before the exams. Only 4 tests all semester and they are based directly from the homework problems. He usually finished lectures early.
Personally, I did not go to the zooms and never needed to. If you do the homework, take notes, and learn how to do the math, you will make an A easily. My class was completely online and definitely the best option!
Sweetest professor I've ever had. I didn't go to many of the zooms, but he recorded all his lectures so that was really helpful. Take him he's amazing!
TAKE HIM IF YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY. Online course was really easy! Your unit is a few homeworks that are due the day before the exam, and the exam is exactly what you learned in the homeworks! He's really sweet and is wants you to pass!
He really just wants the best for his students, super easy to keep up with and the nicest guy. I would highly recommend taking his class if you have the opportunity!
