professor khule is not cool.
3 exams(200 points each roughly 40 questions multiple choice). Extra credit for attendance ~ 40 points. Allows a "Crib sheet" 8x11 page of notes. Hands out study guides a week before the exam and goes over the questions. Find the answers from the study guide and put them on your crib sheet. You should get an A if you do this. Also attend class.
Great class. Professor offers many opportunity to pass class, but just attend class.
PROFESSOR KUHLE IS SOOO TIGHT! TAKE HIS CLASS. HIS DAUGHTERS ARE REALLY HOT!!! ASK HIM TO SHOW YOU PICTURES
Prof. Kuhle is really a great teacher, he knows his stuff. He makes it easy for someone that is not a finance major to understand finance. Still lets you have a cheat sheet/review of 40? & just I think it is really important not to get offended in his class. He dosn't mean to do or say what he does he is just trying to make a point to other stude
Professor is HORRIBLE, UNREASONABLE! Appears cool at first. Useless lectures, unwilling to give students his time, shows no interest in students' understanding of the course. Changed to a new book in the middle of the SUMMER session (only 6 weeks long!).
After reading all the negative comments, I tried to keep an open mind when I took his class in the summer. However, when Kuhle would not accept answers on the tests that were WORD FOR WORD out of the textbook, I lost respect for the teacher!!!
He's rude and annoying. It can be an easy class, but only if you're good at tests. Your grade is based solely on quizzes (which he lets you have a cheat sheet for), but there's no homework to help make up for low test scores. He sucks at teaching; if can study for yourself, ok, but if you're bad at tests and expect him to teach you...don't bother.
He's an amazing professor! He's available if you're having difficulties understanding.. go go class and you'll do great!
He is straight up crazy. Changes text in mid-semester. Throws fits randomly. Luckily, the coursework is fairly easy.
Kuhle was very entertaining while still relaying material.I give him a 5/5 - Great teacher.
Kuhle has a weird sense of humour that he thinks is funny but is hard to deal with. He has a habit of picking on and making fun of his students. The keys to passing his class is to be sure to attend his review sessions, don't be late or miss classes and never trust his grading scale, he changes it as the semester goes along.
He's the worst teacher in my life! He always thinks he's funny by making fun of students. He doesn't teach at all, all you have to do is reading the textbook for 3 times. Then, you wish you can get an A. He's not a teacher, he's just a reader.(reading the power points.) His class is dead because he only talks about the jokes he understands.
Prof reads from PPT; also available to students. Free online textbook- easy to follow. Not the most exciting lecturer but he offers approx. 30 pts of EC and gives students questions to quizzes and allow 1page of notes- 5 quizzes, no HW.
Prof lectures straight from PPT; not the most interesting lectures and does not cover everything so must read text. Free online text, which is useful and easy to follow. Offers approx. 35 points of EC, gives ?S to exams, and allow 1page front&back on test days. 4 quizzes/no hw or project. He does try his best to help his students pass the class..
Honestly, this guy is cool as hell. He's so obnoxious it's down-right hilarious. If you don't like the material you'll appreciate his sense of humor. Attendance is mandatory. Tells you the questions on the quizzes and gives you a page of notes to use. Take him.
I am not sure how this guy grades. There was a big project due at the end of the semester and I think almost everyone got a B. He put the wrong scantron answer key in the machine for a test and it docked me 13 points that it shouldn't have. Because he was to lazy to re-grade everyones test, he just gave everyone 10 points. This guy is a CLOWN.
I wasn't sure at the beginning of the semester how I was going to tolerate this guy for 17 weeks, but in the end, this was one of my favorite professors. He is annoying, but he is a good and fair teacher. He doesn't use a text book, which is awesome! You should take this professor if you want to learn something.
Easy to get along with if you get on his good side. Takes attendance but it is for your benefit...almost 10 points extra credit. Do the work and you should be fine.
I felt this professor was some what hard on his grading. His problems existed in the fact that he was very distracting in his speech; he often went off topic and loves his cliches. Good factor is that he gives extra credit for coming to class when class is mandatory. Do not miss class, it hurts. If you have to go to the bathroom, dont, hold it!
4 exams, T/F & allows cheat sheet. sound too good? consider: mandatory classes, makes fun of people (likes to point out how little you know), purposely makes a few exam Q's that only his "1% elite" can answer. miss 4 classes = 5% lower grade. miss 5+ = F. power points not that helpful for cheat sheet. advice: keep low profile. would not retake him
This is a hard class, but you will learn alot about how to select fundamental stocks that will grow in value. Prof. Kuhle is fun in class and keeps it interesting. I would highly recommend this class, especially if you are a Finance major and are willing to do the work and come to class. Added bonus, no book to buy, Prof. uses own material.
Kuhle's 135 class was challenging, but by no means impossible to succeed in. He knows a ton about Finance and is very helpful especially if you take the extra time to go to his office hours. His class is entertaining and he has a good sense of humor. I took his 101 class and thought he was great, so I took his 135 class. No textbook was required
Gives 4 Quizes(Exams) each worth a quarter of your overall grade. If you attend every class you can earn 12 pts extra credit. No one in my section earned an A. Overall I give him a B as a teacher. Expects more from students than he teaches.
This guy is hilarious. I seriously laughed out loud so many times at his numerous jokes: "Ya VOY!" "QuestIONes....that's Italian for...questions." "You'll be lookin' up the sea bottom." Oh wait, I'm rating his teaching performance. DEFINITELY read the book PRIOR to going to class. And yes, going to class is mandatory. Seek help from the shepherds.
Very interesting class with a very interesting Professor. He lets you use notes on all exams and even gives you the slide number. However you must read the book to really understand the question. He lectures the entire class but he makes it interesting with all his attempts at jokes. Financial calculator is a must he shows you how to program it.
Formula for success in this class...1)Read syllabus. 2)Do what syllabus says. 3)Print out overheads and use as your guide while reading text. 4)Be prepared to discuss in class. 5)Be prepared to laugh at yourself and others during lectures. Lectures are hilarious! 6) Get started on "crib" sheet for test/quiz early.7)Attend class for extra credit!
There are some people who come along in your life that will change it forever.Listen well and one of them may be Dr. Kuhle. Do “the Project”. You just may look back someday and truly see the legacy given you...the potential to become someone just as successful as Warren Buffett. After all, they both did study under the teachings of Benjamin Graham!
I loved this class. Attendance is not mandatory but you will not do well if you don't go to class because there is no textbook. My first impression was "this guy is nuts" but his personality grows on you. This was by far the best class I have taken at CSUS.
Kuhle is cool. His class is not intense no hw no class work only 4 tests and a cumulative final. Tests are hard, but he reviews for it very well. Be sure to write down everything he says for every test question review, it will help you!
I enjoyed his class. He has a unique teaching style that is very humorous, and a welcome change. His class focuses more on practical application of the value investing concept because he was one of Ben Graham's last students. That alone is worth the price of admission. To get an A, attend class, print out the slides, and start on the project early.
Kuhle is a good teacher. He has a great humor and will make sure that the class is entertaining. You will have to put some work in to get an A but you can learn a lot in his class. The project is a lot of fun and a great learning experience. I definitely recommend him.
Professor Kuhle is a good teacher and enjoys interacting with his students. His sense of humor actually makes finance classes entertaining believe it or not. Attendance is mandatory if you want to do well in his class. He reviews all exams very well so take as many notes as possible!
Professor Kuhle is an excellent teacher. He is clear, concise, and extremely helpful. There is no mandatory homework, but he will run off practice problems if you ask. His tests are challenging, but allows crib sheets for all tests, and hands out a study guide. He keeps his office hours so he is very accessible.
Great class. Great project that has real life applications. Great teacher. You do need to study for the tests. The book for the class is a good read but is not used much on the tests. I would take a class from him again any day.
You will need to work hard in this class. Do the hws, reading, & pay attention in class. He's extremely helpul during his office hours and has a very kind personality. I learned a lot in his class, but again he is a challenge. He's hilarious but at times can get sidetracked -- don't be afraid to ask questions and be prepared for him to call on you
The online text is expensive but hey I am glad I don't have to lug it around. He gave us whatever % of complete homework out of 200 points as a buffer for our grade. There isn't a real way you can fail. He makes it really easy for you. Some questions from the online hw were on the quiz/exams. gave you extra points for showing up to class every week
Learned pretty much nothing from a class which is very important to me. Rambles about nothing and is pessimistic about everything. Treats students like idiots and bashes on everyone. He has absolutely no teaching ability. Tests you on pointless things buffet says. Please sac state have some respect for the students and get rid of this clown.
Can anybody tell me what did you learn from this class? because I didnot learn anything. This is my crazy class ever at Sac State. Prof. Kuhle just sits on the his chair, reads the super long slides, does some thing craze, and sometime with crazy noise. Not recommended at all. Take other Prof., you will learn st or at least get B, but this one is C
Great professor. Very passionate about the subject and wants his students to succeed in investing and life. I learned a great amount in the class and the knowledge can be used the rest of your life. I highly recommend Professor Kuhle, he is a bona fide dousey.
Finance 135 with Khule was a great class. He teaches on the fundamentals on investing and the section on Warren Buffett was very interesting. Most people on here who gave him bad grades probably didn't go to class or didn't pay attention. Attend class and take good notes. Overall this was one of the best classes I took in the business program.
I enjoyed this class as I knew very little about investing going into the class. Professor Kuhle is humorous which makes the learning environment fun and never dry or boring. You must attend class but he gives extra credit for it which he doesn't have to do. You will learn a lot about investing, especially what has made Warren Buffett successful.
If you expect to learn something, I wouldn't recommend him. I took 101 with him as well and felt like I gained nothing.
I really enjoyed this class. I knew very little about investing going into the class but professor Kuhle makes the topics very interesting and injects his own humor into the lectures which make for a fun learning environment. A stock analysis project is required but its a great learning opportunity. He knows the subject well and recommend his class
Kuhle is a fun professor, he keeps students engaged by asking questions and using humor. There are Two exams, a Final and a Group Project.Pay CLOSE ATTENTION during review day. Attendance is extra credit. The Project is very interesting yet very time consuming. Get a GOOD group and DEFINITELY visit Kuhle durig office hours,he will help you with Q's
Professor Kuhle offers relevant material that you simply won't find anywhere else in the program. I learned so much about fundamental investing. Highly recommend Dr. Kuhle for a challenging and insightful course. Be prepared to work hard on the semester project!
This Professor is very passionate about finance. The final project is time consuming so start early! He is available during office hours and is very helpful. He can be very opinionated about political and monetary topics so just try to listen and you don't have to agree, but just listen. He may have quirks about him, but try to get over that.
Very dry sense of humor, but he can be interesting. Definitely a little cray cray! Lectures throughout class on his chair everyday. Can be very boring and it's dead silent, unless he decides to make a crazy noise. I recommend him if you prefer not to NOTHING. Difficult group project. A cheat sheet for difficult exams is offered.
AMAZING teacher! Will help you with anything if you take the time to get help. Gives you almost the EXACT questions on the test at the review. If you take the time to look them up and put them on your cheat sheet you are golden. He is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about finance. He is by FAR my favorite teacher I have ever had.
This professor has amazing knowledge in the field of investing. He studied under Ben Graham, one of the founders of fundamental investing, and effectively passes on his knowledge to his students. He is very good at involving the class in discussion and keeps the class enthused. The class project was a great learning experience in analyzing stock.
Overall I highly recommend this professor. He is very knowledgeable in the field of finance. He relates class discussion to real world scenarios which gives a clear understanding of the material. Encourages questions during lecture and is very funny. The class can be easy if you treat it like the college level course it is. Attendance is mandatory.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!! Valuable info. Very Organized. Willing to help. Invested in your success. Didn't need this course to graduate, but took it anyway to learn what he had available to teach. This is one of three teachers in my 6 years studies at CSUS that I would like to keep in touch with.
He is tough, but fair. He also makes finance really funny and dorky by being very theatrical. Don't ever skip class, do all your hw, and the program online is Top Hat and Pearson, which you have to buy, but it's cheaper than buying a real book. Also, he surprise picks on you in class so be prepared.
He's an awesome teacher. Go to class & listen. His study guides are very thoroughly which guides you to what you need to study. Also, he is very funny which makes finance more easy to learn. Tests are difficult though but you can do well if you stay on top of lecture. Go to office hours & do homework and you'll be OK.
As difficult as Professor Kuhle's course is, he is the perfect teacher to lighten things up and make them enjoyable. He is very funny. He knows his stuff! Pay attention to everything he is teaching you. It could help you make a lot of $. Two tests and a project plus participation is what you are graded on. All are difficult, but very useful info!
Goes over the study guide so you really shouldn't be surprised with the questions on the test. Attendance and homework have points attached to them so do them. Make an effort to get 100% on your homework because they will make a difference in your grade in terms of points. Expect pop quizzes at the end of a chapter. No projects.
Good information in the class but Exams are about quotes and irrelevant. The important parts are not focused on in the tests. Just write down all the quotes and especially buffet stuff and you'll be able to pull a B.
Pretty funny and comes up with silly catchphrases. TopHat is used for attendance and in-class problems. If you cant show up on time pick another prof. Lateabsence and grade drops w too much. Tests are HARD but prob from test bank. Do all HW and always show up on time to help boost grade. Kuhle is fair with grading; curves if class avg too low.
If you're looking to learn, skip this professor. He'd rather make jokes and go off topic than to discuss anything worth substance. Can offer valuable investing tips, but his teaching style ruins it all. Cheat sheet offered and reviewing prior to difficult exams. Attendance is mandatory or else grade will be reflected.
Very interesting class, though I might have understood more if I did better in FIN 101. Dont skip, he takes attendance on an app & you'll be lost. Outlines test questions in better detail than any professor I've had & allows cheat sheets on exams. Group project is tough but Kuhle gives ample time to approach him with questions. He's a funny guy!!
He is hilarious! He doesn't teach very clearly so you will definitely have to study on your own but he provides helpful investing tips. Attendance is mandatory (you get points) and there's online homework. Allows a cheat sheet and tells you in advance what each exam question will be on. He also grades on a steep curve! Overall, I really liked him!
Wouldn't recommend Kuhle. He gets distracted by his own tangents and spends time babbling about irrelevant topics. I don't think I took away anything of value from this class because quotes from Buffett and Graham's family history aren't going to advance my career. He boasted about grade curving, although my overall grade was not curved.
I graduated from CSUS in 2007 and he is the ONLY teacher I remember from my 2.5 years there because he was *hilarious*. I don't remember much from the class itself but I remember the guy being an absolute riot. I was one of the only girls in the class and I laughed pretty much through every class. He really is Kuh-le.
Not funny, these people are the loud minority who say he is. He does, however, make jokes all day. As a result, he lectures MINIMALLY. Homework is obscenely extensive, offers little help for the exams to come and with little to no lecture it makes exams hard. Easy C. Easy meaning if you do the insane quantity of homework and don't study at all.
So in a list of everything wrong with this guy's teaching "technique:" He exploits his position shamelessly as a platform for attention, he teaches next to nothing, he actually puts no visible effort into his job or students (homework is POORLY constructed for the class), his "review" sessions involve avoiding teaching and sloppily giving exam Qs
The professor make the class very interesting. Those who are interested in Finance and want to learn should take him. There are 3 quizzes and one cumulative assessment. If you spent some time preparing and going to study group you will differently do very good. He goes over some quiz and assessment questions in class. I would recommend this Prof.
This professor is extremely helpful and genuinely wants all students to pass his class. He extends deadlines for homework assignments and allows a page of notes for exams. He even allowed me to take a make-up exam. I still didn't pass but its totally my fault-not his. If he taught 101 again, I'd sign up for his class in a heartbeat. Get it-got-it
Kuhle's been teaching for awhile and seems to barely lecture. In reality, he's taking the already simple introductory concepts of finance and making them even easier to understand. He goes over everything on the exams(all MC) and allows a cheat sheet. HW has unlimited attempts and step by step examples. He's pretty much just throwing points at you.
The most helpful in that class was that the professor went over each test question and allowed us to use cheat sheet for each exam. Quizzes that were given on TopHat during class were also helpful because some questions were exactly the same on the test. Possible to get an A if you work hard. I recommend professor Kuhle for FIN 101 class.
Professor Kuhle is intellectual and has amazing sense of humor. You can always reach him via e-mail. His power point notes are super clear and helpful. He gives you "crib sheets" which are notes that you can take into the exam with definitions and formulas on them. He's a nice guy who really cares about his students. He loves Warren Buffet trivia!
Professor Kuhle is nice and funny, but I did not learn much from his class. His lectures and slides are very vague and he will skip over topics if he does not want to explain them. The tests are very difficult and contain topics that he never even mentioned!!! If you really want to learn the basics of finance then I suggest not taking him.
Kuhle is probably the best professor I've had at CSUS. Many students don't get (or like?) his humor, but I found the class to be really entertaining. Definitely not a class for slackers. There's no homework, but if you don't study after the lectures the tests will be REALLY hard. Grade is based on exams, participation and one large project.
Professor Kuhle is an invaluable investment professor and resource for learning about investments. His class is tough but extremely rewarding. Understand his humor and his quirks and you will enjoy the class and learn more than you will understand. I would recommend him to anyone.
AVOID if possible. There are many things to learn about investments but this professor only teaches the concepts he uses with his own personal investments. He teaches from his slides which are long and hard to understand. There is no textbook so if you don't understand the concepts he will tell you to use Investopedia. And he is extremely negative!
Monotone lectures. Gives study guides but were relative to what was actually lectured about. Would not recommend. 2 Midterms, a project, and a final.
Great teacher! He's funny and makes sure his students understand his lectures. Tests are lightweight difficult, but you are allowed to use a cheat cheat, handwritten, front and back. Ask him questions on notecards, and you can earn extra credit!! Attendance matters for points, so I suggest attending. (If I had him at 7:30am, you can do it!)
Professor Kuhle is wonderful professor, he makes the material fun and he always explains the subjects so everyone can understand it. He also lets you bring a page front and back of notes to the test. He does not require you to buy a book , He does demand you come on time and be there for class. He reviews ever test before you take it.
Professor Kuhle taught Investments in a way that everyone could understand. He gave applicable scenarios that I will take with me for the rest of my life. His in-depth knowledge of options and strategies gave me the tools to be successful post-graduation. You're going to learn alot about Warren Buffet and Alexander Graham, so be ready.
FIN 135 with Professor Kuhle is a class on VALUE Investing (Warren Buffett) meaning simple, basic math w/o Greek lettered (littered) formulas. Only two tests and one project (will use for rest of your life), given plenty of time and Kuhle is always happy to help. Class can ensure future personal financial success and independence (if interested).
No book is a +, but full grade falls upon 3 exams and attendance. Attending class is easy but his exams didn't quite follow the study guide. You can copy his lecture slides verbatim (which is A LOT) but that isn't enough. I like Kuhle as a person, but had trouble getting help even during office hrs. Nobody scored an A on the final. He curved...
He is hilarious. There are two midterms (400), one final (300), one project (200), and participation (100). The project is time consuming and is definitely something to work on slowly throughout the entire semester. His tests are difficult, average is usually a C for the first one and a D for the second.
He does a great job in giving interesting lectures. I really appreciate what I have learned from Professor Kuhle and wish I could take more classes with him. If you are interested in learning how to invest in the market then do take this class. It's pure knowledge and he also speaks of the strategies he himself has implemented.
He is not a very good teacher he is sarcastic and bully as well. He is never present for his office hours and his lecture has almost nothing to do with his test. The study guide serves as zero help due to the practice problems he will give you none of them will show up in the exam. One of the worst proffesor i have taken would not recommend him.
Kuhle is opiniated as he teaches his own investing strategies that conflict with Buffetts (whose strategies we also discuss). It's a class where you will teach yourself as the exam material is from investopedia. The slides are basically just used to link to investopedia. Also, 75 questions in 75 mins is not enough since there are math problems.
It was my honor to be a student in professor Kuhle's class. He respects students, their opinions, and provides a clear expectations fro the midterms and finals. Tests are based on his slides and review class, so attend all his lectures, understand the slides, ask questions, and you will get an A. Clearly this is the best finance professor!!!
Clearly the best finance professor on campus! He is what defines Sac State as a professor that truly keeps his students engaged with his jokes and content that makes sense. Lets you have a cheat sheet front and back for exams, no textbook required, just materials on his website. Your grade is made up of just 2 midterms and a final. (;
Good professor! I would recommend Professor Kuhle to students needing to take Finance 101 (Business Finance) at Sacramento State. The course involves 2 midterm exams, 1 final exam, and attendance points. He does post PowerPoint slides and a study guide on his website for reference when studying. Some extra credit opportunities are offered.
Took him last Spring semester. Great guy! Very helpful not only for classroom purposes but for life as well. He's always willing to help answer any questions I have about investments. Study the slides and the study guide and you will do great. No textbook required. I strongly recommend you go see him if you want to know how to increase your wealth.
I do not understand how he is getting such high ratings from other students, maybe he just does not translate well to zoom in the Covid world. He reads from slides from investopedia, assigns no homework and then you go teach yourself outside of class and are graded on attendance and tests. He is an awful teacher, I am not learning anything.
Kuhle's online Fin101 class has no textbook; rather, he relies on links to Investopedia. He speaks so slowly that you will have difficulty understanding him and it will put you to sleep. He calls this class "Finance for boneheads", but it is not "easy". He is vague in his test reviews, which are your only grade. I'm usually an A student.
Class is weighted: 60% Exams, 20% attendance, 20% Quizzes. Grading was done all through tophat which was a damn shame, made the course layout confusing and difficult to navigate. Used only 5 ppts and investopedia all semester. Study guides were pointless. Exam 1 was ok. Exam 2 was an epic disaster. So stressed about finals.
I really enjoyed taking his course. He is a good professor. He provides ppt slides that are informative and so helpful, and also explains all concepts in details. He has a great sense of humor.
This Professor is awesome. He made my days during the pandemic semester. He managed to create highly efficient slides that you use instead of a book, so you need only few hours a week to absorb material and get an A or at least B+. His slow explanations and funny jokes made me relaxed and engaged in his lecture. Just pay attention during lectures.
Satisfactory.
