I had taken calc before, so this was a breeze. Very easy and skips the difficult sections, which may not be good if you are planning on going on in math.
Very disorganized, but very relaxed.
great guy, made it easy to learn, kept class quick and to the point, just dont miss too many classes but he is always available for help and is very understanding
easy class wow.....he gives hw and grades it but he gives corrections on tests, accepts late stuff and makes the tests easy but u do need to know ur stuff
Easy class if you go. He sometimes seems unsure of himself, but he's usually around for help. Beware of corny jokes!!!!!
james adds a lil spice to math he really cares about students and how they do, makes sure you understand the material has versatile style (ghetto/prep)speaks ghetto once in awhile and even shouts out a few corny jokes which makes it more easygoing - overall just a really good guy gotta loves james!
very easy class. he's a really nice guy and is pretty helpful if you are unsure of whats going on. class rarely lasts the entire 55 minutes and he drops your lowest grades. if you only need stats for your major, take it from him.
Easy going dude, really cool and laid back. Class is a joke is you goto class and take notes and follow the book. Course gets harder as semster ends, but he leaves out the hard parts and makes it easy. always in his office hours too really cool to get help from
Really cool guy. Drops the lowest quiz grade (5/6), drops 3-5 hws (20-25 graded), and overall one of the better math teachers. He cares about his students perfomance, leaves out the hard parts of statistics. He's your best best if you want a good grade. Also gives EC opportunities to boost up your grade. Got an A- def worth taking.
When I first saw him I thought he was a student. He seems pretty young and probably fresh out of college but he knows his stuff. Really helpful and he drops your lowest scores. I MEAN helpful. I could just march right into his office and have him explain a hw problem for me. Book mandatory
easy going guy, has good personality and always want you to do well. 5 tests, drops the lowest one, take home portion of midterm and final, worth half of overall tests. homework is graded, but will do out the problem in discussion so it's easy points. if you need calc 2 & you're not a major def. get him as a professor. All in all, one of the best.
Awesome guy! I had to drop Stats the first time with Racquet cause I was going to fail. James makes statistics so easy and breaks it up into simple segments so you understand it. He omits difficult parts. During Probability he has office hours 5 days a week to help students. Take him, he is the best math teacher at U-Albany
this guy is the man.. great teacher wants everyone to do well.. very helpful with the hw in case you dont understand something.. i highly recommend him jus go to class, take notes and ull do really well.. DO WHAT YOU CAN TO GET THIS TEACHER!
He is seriously one of the best teachers I've had at Albany. He just really knows his stuff and is really great at teaching it to the students. He always has office hourse for help, gives a lot of extra credit and has few students who dont have an A. Take him!
This guy is awesome. You have to take him. Easy A.
This guy is AWESOME! if ever you need help he's there. you can tell he really wants you to do well. he always gives you an opportunity to raise your grade, extra credit projects, homework assignments, and bonus' on tests. easy A.
Absolutely AMAZINGG teacher!! So helpful, explains everything very clearly, always available for extra help! His tests/quizzes are veryy fair. He's just a realllyyyy nice guy. TAKE HIS CLASS!
great teacher...too nice to students had 102 average in the class...knew his stuff...unfair to the smart kids
AWESOME! best teacher ever, not only does he present his material clearly he's also the nicest guy. always available for extra help and gives extra credit. i had like a 110 average in his class and im retarded at math. def. take him if you need this class. he's adorable
Professor Lamatina is the man! His homeworks are easy even though the ones online can be annoying. He always gives good review sessions before class and he is very helpful outside of class too. Easy to communicate with and easy to understand. He goes out of his way to not complicate and confuse things. TAKE HIS CLASS!
best professor I've ever had. Homeworks are pretty easy. Always there to help you out. Should get at the very minimum b plus
Professor Lamatina is one of the best professors I have had the pleasure of being taught by. His lectures are extremely informative, he is always available for outside help, and is just a nice guy in general. Don't leave Albany without taking one of his classes!
great professor!...notes were so good that I never had to open the textbook(except for homework).
He was really helpful. Always there when you needed help with your homework, exam corrections and going to class wasn't too bad.
Easy, easy, easy. I hadn't taken math for three years before this class and could barely add in my head. Yet, I didn't go to any class besides the review sessions and the tests, and I got an A. Will curve grades and postpon assignments if enough people annoy him. Homework is easy and test are a joke. Weird sense of humor though.
Easyyy class. Tests are extremely easy and his notes are basically right out of the textbook. Defentally take him!
Wonderful guy, great professor. Easily accessible and willing to help.
Nice guy, class is really easy because its high school stats. Take the tests seriously though becuase they do get harder, but is an easy A.
Loveddd this class. Lamatina is the man. First 2 exams are a joke but the 3rd and final exam were really hard so make sure you study and memorize everythinggg! Only tested on what is in your notes so study them and you'll be fine. Easy A if you go to class and try.
One of my fav!! Lamantina was the best. He is always there if you need his help, and he's hilarious. Tests can be a tad difficult but if you go to class, pay attention, and understand all the homeworks you will get an A. Careful with course compass because it's easy to do well and not know a thing. That will catch up with you. Lamantinaforpresident
When asked for help he said basically yea...it wasnt a yes or no question. His test sometimes were to the most extremes that a problemn could get, overall because of him I never want to take another math course.
Probably one of the best professors in Albany. He's extremely nice! He's very helpful when you need extra help. Exams do get a little harder, but if you go to class and listen, you'll do fine. Easy A if you do your work! You're extremely lucky if you get him as a professor!
ask him for help and he tells you to figure it out for yourself.
Very good professor. Class was fairly easy; tests are challenging but make sure you do good on the online hws and quizzes and you should be fine. Go to class and take notes- his exams come right from the notes so memorize them and you should do fine. Got an A by doing good on the online course work and studying the night b4 an exam.
He seems like a good guy but he's not a great teacher. Class goes very slow because he reads the slide and then explains whats on the next slide before switching because he wants to wait for everyone to copy everything down. Luckily for the most part the material is pretty easy and you can pick most of it up from the homework or the book.
if you love professors who can't pronounce the word "quatitative" then you'll love him! he doesn't know how to teach, and he can't look at his students without shutting his eyes...but his eyelids sure are attractive.
Sadly you get nothing from going to his class. It is boring and taking notes is useless. He gives you no help and is just a pretty bad teacher. Doing the HWs and actually studying the HWs will get you a good grade. Make sure you do good on the HWs and quizes and you should be fine.
this class was one of the worst classes i have ever taken. if you're bad at math, AVOID THIS CLASS!...lamatina is a really weird guy who doesn't know how 2 pronounce several words...he's so BORING..i went to class...i learned nothing ...and he constantly says.."in the sense that.." ..he says that every 5 sec..NO JOKE! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Very nice professor. This class really isnt that bad with him. Even though sometimes its difficult to understand, he really does do everything he can to help you. 3 exams, and roughly 16 homeworks. the final was hard, but if you do the homeworks, you should to fine. getting a B isnt hard, but getting an A requires alot of work.
dont do it to yourself.stats is hard enough. He isnt terrible but for this subject you should get the best professor available. gives 22 hw's that u should always get 100's on. 4 or 5 online quizzes. 3 tests and the final is NOT cummulative. Ok teacher but he should be your last resort not 1st choice.
loved this professor! always available if you don't understand and go to office hours. if you do the extra credit it brings up your test grade. i hate math & thought i would do terrible but I got an A but worked hard for it. take him!
His lectures are really simple, and he is very good about explaining what you're learning. He is a very easy teacher, and the homeworks are really easy grades. Tests are pretty easy, just read your notes, and you'll get an A, no problem.
His lectures are super easy and he is really helpful at explaining them. If you go to class, the homeworks are a piece of cake! Just keep up and get them in on time.
This class is okay. His lectures are kinda vague and doesn't really have a lot of examples. This class is easy to get an A in if you go to class and actually pay attention. Tests are kinda hard tho :(
Great Teacher!!! He was extremely helpful and he made the class very easy. He gives extra credit and the final is not cumulative.

I still feel like I have to go home and teach it to myself, but it is college so I can't complain. Sometimes he talks so fast from sentence to sentence it's hard to keep up. Also, a lot of time is wasted recopying notes from an overhead that are online already. That time could be used going over examples. This is elementary statistics.
guys the man and lets you do whatever. def take him
I dread this class because I know that means he's going to throw 2 chapters at us and ramble through them with one example for each topic and not explain it that clearly. I wish class time had more examples and reviewed a little from the previous class.
I thought he was a good teacher. All you to do is never go 2 class and attend his reviews the day before the test and get a 90.
awesome professor. If you do all the online homework and quizzes, and understand them, you will get an A. Going to class didn't help me at all, so I stopped going eventually, and still got an A.
I hate any type of math and he didn't help. I took this class in Fall 08 in LC 18. Meaning it was a big ass lecture. I failed the second test which messed up my grade. Had that not happened I'd probably would've got a B or B+, instead of B-. OVERALL I don't recommend, but if you take him it wont be thattttt bad.
Great teacher he explains things clearly and if u don't understand u can go to his office hours. he's extremely helpful. I would recommend him to anyone. His homeworks are online and u have unlimited attempts as long as u get it done within the time frame. if u pay attention and go to class and understand the material the tests will be a breeze.
good teacher, very easy class, everything you need to know are in his powerpoints. and homeworks on coursecompass are very easy and can be redone until you get 100%. i got 101 on the first test. explains things in very simple terms
UGHHH this class was so whack..... I probably wouldn't have got a good grade if I didn't take AP stat in HS. His voice is like a lullaby. He is no use and the lecture hall is so big there is a chance u don't see his hand when you need help. Also just buy the course code online, I never opened the textbook n u can read it online.
He's a nice guy, but he speaks in the most convoluted English I've ever heard and therefore makes everything way harder to understand. His voice is very monotonous and boring, and he doesn't do very many in-class examples. Don't buy the textbook--you have to pay for an online math lab, which has the whole textbook online.
The way he explains the material makes it seem harder than it really is. I dreaded this class, and his voice is definitely a lullaby. Just buy the course code online, you can read the textbook online. He tends to rush through and cram everything into one lecture. I wouldn't recommend him, but if you do take, he isn't THAT bad, but definitely close.
Terrible professor. Says "process" and "pertaining towards" at least 20 times per lecture (I've counted). Admits that he has no idea what he's talking about and cannot explain the concepts he teaches. Half the class did not finish the final and no curve was applied to the grades. Not really sure how he got a teaching job. Avoid this professor.
Just took the second test, It was extremely easy. Test's are just like the examples/hw's/quizzes. Go to class, pay attention, and you'll do great. The concepts are quite easy. He doesn't have the best grammar, but he is overall very helpful.
Do not go to lectures if you stayed at your dorm and didn't study you would probably learn more than with this professor.
To be honest, I did not attend each class, I got an A-. If you go to every single class and pay attention easy A. The only complaint I have is that the textbook doesn't clearly explain problems. Also because I missed some classes I still don't know what a P-value is, and I can't figure it out online. Easy homework as well!
Here is what I feel to be a very honest and unbiased opinion from someone who received an A-. He is VERY fair and is very eager to help you out in his office hours. DO THE HW. I went to maybe half of the classes but did all the hw, the tests are just variations of the hw and the hw is what he did in class. HW very important, make sure you get it!
No need to go to class or buy the book. basically teaching yourself just do well on the Hw and Quiz and guarantee at least a B. otherwise very helpful during office hours.
he is annoying and rude very strict with grading even if there is a big personal problem he wont care he will say that you can not make up a homework or quiz because thats what the syllabus says
I believe as a teacher goes this guys not half bad. Not a stickler for attendance. Not a hard grader. Explains the material well. Yet he has the aire of some one not well endowed. I'm just saying
This professor made the class seem pretty easy. In reality, he is awful at preparing students for his exams and the final is cumulative. It takes the whole exam period to finish or come close to finishing his final. Be ready for it to lower you grade by a whole letter. If possible avoid this monotone professor.
Great guy, do the homeworks on coursecompass and you'll be guaranteed at least a B. Do well on the first 2 tests cause the last 2 are impossible. the final was 10 questions took about 2 hours.
Really awesome professor. It's challenging material but he's available during his office hours to help and does very well at it. The tests are pretty easy if you pay attention. Checks attendance by using the iclicker. Online homeworks that he will help with if you dont understand either at his office hours or through emails.
Good professor. Unlimited tries for homeworks easily can get a 100 for that, attedance counts, first 2 tests arent bad but need to really understand the material for the 3rd. The final was cumulative but he gave out an equation sheet which helped out so much. Final only 10 questions but it wasnt too bad. He's very helpful in his office hours.
Good professor, everyone who says he doesn't explain stuff well didnt go to class or just didnt care. If you go to class he explains things very clearly and makes sure you understand is more than willing to help you outside of class. For math, he has one of the best classes to take. Highly recommended.
So nice and chill. He tries to make a relationship with each of his students. this class itself is so easy and having him as a teacher is even better. He also teaches stats (which is harder) but it's better having him than the other professors teaching stats. you have to do the homework and you NOW only have three tries but still sooo easy.
Pretty chill and helpful. I hate math but I passed his class with a B. A pretty good stat prof.
Fabulous teacher! Clear and helpful! No reason you can't get an A-B in this class as long as you go and do the work.
Helpful at office hours, although he tends to give attitude. He tries to make jokes, overall the class isn't horrible but he could explain more in class.
Had him for survey of calc and he was amazing. One of the best professors you'll have in Albany. Very Helpful if you go to him during office hours but i don't think you would need to go b/c he is straight forward in class. Actually feel like he wants students to learn which is rare to find.
Class is only mandatory if you want to receive a good iClicker grade. You'll learn more from the textbook than from his lectures. He makes APLIA such a big deal, meanwhile even if you do good on the homework and not so well on the exams or quizes you'll do poorly. AVOID THIS MAN.
Overall, calc is not that easy but he tries to make it easy by breaking down steps. Class is mandatory b/c he uses iclickers. Have four attempts in HW and drops the lowest 2. Also gives online quizzes where he takes the highest of the three tries and drops the lowest quiz grade. Tests were fair but took me the whole class pd. to complete it.
He's awkward and corny but he means well, and he's a really great professor. I had him for calculus and statistics - before taking his class I would have sworn I'd never get better than a C in a math class in college (math isn't my best subject). I got an A in his class. He's a fair grader and really cares about helping students. Take his class.
Love this teacher! His notes are Powerpoints and are very easy to understand. I would recommend attending his class because he does use iClickers. Other than the fact that he lectures with his eyes closed & has a dry sense of humor, he's great. Explains examples very well, tests & quizzes are fairly easy if you attend class & take minimal notes
This man slams you with work, and give little to no real instruction in class. I have never had trouble with math in my life, and though I still managed a good grade in this class is beyond me. His exams are not worded, AT ALL, as the way he teaches the material in class. I recommend you avoid this man.
Lamatina is probably my best professor this semester. His powerpoint presentations are clear and straight to the point, easy to follow. He allows more than enough time for students to take notes. I definitely recommend him to my friends, I did!! He's also very helpful during his office hours. The "process" of studying stats much easier with him.
Great guy! Really helpful. Dropped the two lowest homework grades and one of your lowest quiz grades.
Probably one of the greatest professor I had this semester. Homework are super easy, 3 tries and he drop the 2 lowest. The quizzes are easy and he drop the lowest. Tests are just like the quiz. Just attendant class, do the homework and you'll do great!
If you're reading this, then you obviously care about your grades. That being said, do not take his class.
One of the best teachers I've had. He explains the material so that EVERYONE will understand & makes class fun with his quirky sense of humor. Says "in the process" at least 100 times per class, but you learn to overlook it. Definitely recommend this professor! Easy homework with many attempts. Easy short-answer exams. Quizzes online. Uses clicker.
Love Lamatina! Great professor and great class. Had him for stats and surveys of calc. I have recommended his class to people and will continue to do so. Really an excellent teacher who explains information well and cares about his students. Easy grader too!
I LOVE LAMATINA. Made stat super easy to understand. Just need to pay attention. His class is a bit boring overall, but super easy. Same with tests and homework. Never opened the textbook. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED. attendance mandatory, clicker.
Best teacher I ever had at Albany. Explains everything crystal clear and will go over the material until everyone fully understands. Has a quirky sense of humor which made class entertaining. There were lots of homeworks an quizzes which definitely helped as I breezed through the final. Try your best to get him for stats if you can.
Great professor !
Clicker. Need to listen to pass.
Online homework assignments weekly. 5 online quizzes drops lowest grade. Great teacher very thorough. PowerPoint slides help immensely. 3 tests including cumulative final go to class helps alot. IClicker participation
iClickers for every class used as attendance grade. He makes Calc easy to learn. Lots of online hw which you can repeat questions to get 100% (helps a lot). Tests not terrible, but need to study. No cheat sheets so make sure you remember exactly what you need to do. Final is cumulative, but not horrible. Nice guy but uses annoying turns of phrase.
he's a great teacher!! everything is explained clearly through powerpoints and he goes at a good pace. but he requires an iclicker and attendance counts in your grade. his home works are fair and webassign quizzes counts a lot towards your grade as well but you get three trys for each quiz! i would def take him again.
its a really easy class , and the professor is Great !
Lamatina is definitely a great professor. He is clear and easy to understand. He give a crap load of homework and quizzes. Luckily they are all online. So if you budget your time wisely you will be perfectly fine. His exams are similar to his home work so there are no surprises. All lecture slides are online, but GO TO CLASS or you wont understand
Lamatina is a fantastic professor. He explains the material very well and will help you on the side if you need it. Allows questions in class. DO HOMEWORK AND QUIZZES. Tests are not too bad if you prepare. Overall, awesome guy and class.
Such a great guy! Seriously adorable and super friendly. He's a little awkward and laughs at his own jokes but I think they're funny. Posts all the notes on webassign so if you're good at teaching yourself, attendance isn't REALLY important. Also, he asks 2-3 clicker questions so it might be a good idea to go. Hard subject but good teacher
Overall a very good professor. He explains everything clearly in class and is a really nice guy. Online homework is due about 2 times a week and can sometimes be hard. Tests aren't that bad if you prepare. Dont buy the textbook, you'll never use it. Just buy the webassain.
Such an awkward but funny guy. Super nice and is always ready to help. The class isn't too difficult if you show up to class and take notes. He posts all notes on Webassign and you can do well without the textbook. You need an iClicker but you still get credit if you answer wrong.
Good professor, if you get math an easy A. Tests are very easy. Homework and quizzes are assigned regularly on web assign, some of the problems can be trivial. Overall, he tells you what you need to know, so it's an easy class.
Not much to say except all the good words that can describe one of those awesome professors. Cracks jokes sometimes that only he laughs but that's hilarious. His helpfulness and clarity is just one of the best. He knows what he does and he does it with a lot of enthusiasm. Other professors: please learn from people like him! This is what we want!
By far worst math professor I have ever had. Guy sounds like a robot flies through the work, is afraid to look at class while teaching. Worst experience I have had at UA so far, homework all online, questions grade you wrong sometimes if its right, his grading is harsh, and we didn't even finish all chapters before final but yet they were on final
Was my fave class. Mixed up final times, waited at his door, no help. I understand-not his prob-but being that this was my last semester, I am far into pregnancy and was crying in his face I would have expected him not to have been so callous. Instead he was dismissive, rude and annoyed. Worst day of my life. 0 on final; dropped 2 letter grades.
He's clear at explaining things. But he's very rude and nasty if you ask him for anything
Lord knows I'm not a mathematician, but he is a very good professor. Homework for every lecture, but it is necessary and not bad. Tests are a little challenging sometimes but fair. If you want a math teacher who cares about his students, take him.
Worst teacher I've had in Albany so far. He never looks at the class, so if someones raising their hand, he doesn't call on them because he can't see them! His reviews weren't much of reviews as just him telling us 50 topics to study for the exam. He wasn't helpful at all really.
He's funny and goes over topics well. If you don't know or don't understand you have to ask! Office hours are good too
He may teach with his eyes closed but he is a very good teacher. He actually knows what he's doing and is a good at what he does. He gets his point across and breaks down the material so everyone understands it. His tests are short answer, but they are based off the examples he does on the board. Gives weekly assignments but are easy
Such a nice guy! go to class and you will do fine
He was an interesting guy to watch teach. The tests were simple and straight forward and you got a cheat packet for the final but he made it so it was very long and a little confusing. The quizzes were online which was nice but then they were timed and if you got one questioned wrong you would have to redo the entire thing. But an overall easy A.
Great teacher who knows what he's teaching and how to teach it. Breaks down material at perfect pace. This class can be tough material but if you pay attention and have him as your teacher you should be great. Thanks for all you do james!
Online homework and online quizzes through webassign. Test are based on the online homework and online quizzes.
Very nice professor. If you do Homework and pay attention, an A should be attainable.
Great professor overall! The homeworks aren't too hard (he gives you 4 attempts for each question) and about 5-6 online quizzes. All the slides are online, but there are clicker questions so attendance is mandatory. The material isn't difficult and he's great at teaching it. 2 tests and a final which were decent.
You basically have to teach yourself.
Lamatina was great for me. I have always had trouble understanding calculus, and at first I was very worried. I started going to his office hours, and he was completely willing to watch over my shoulder and help me understand. He is somewhat wordy in lectures and teaches quickly but I liked him and would take him again.
I'm very glad I had him as professor. All the homework was online along with the lecture slides. He's slightly awkward but trust me his good and make sure to attend office hours so he gets to know who you are and would be willing to help you even more later in the semester if needed aka extra points. All the quizzes/exams are similar to hw
Takes attendance through iclicker questions, but you only need to answer two per class in order for you to get attendance for that day. He puts the lecture notes online and reviews before every test except the final. The final is cumulative but it is so easy. Multiple people got perfect scores on it.
All slides are online and he reviews before each test. Material itself is very easy and he's always available to meet outside of class. Participation is done w Iclicker
Always rushes his lectures and leaves you overwhelmed with confusion. Also sometimes will mark your answers wrong if they're right. He's unsympathetic and I would not recommend. Especially for those who aren't super strong in math generally.
Really good professor overall. Lectures are understandable and if you go to his office hours he really is helpful. There is a sign in sheet for attendance so its on you. One of the Top 5 professors in this school IMO
I'm not a math major, but Lamatina made statistics easy to understand. The homework was tedious, but it helped you in the long run. Was willing to meet during office hours to go over tests! Show up to class to get clicker points, I could've gotten an A instead of an A- if I went to more classes.
Quizzes just about every Friday but he tells you exactly what's on it (Tells you everything on the test, too) Lets you use a graphing calculator so you can just program all the notes in it. Notes are posted online but takes attendance. I did not have to use an iClicker but my class was small. Makes it easy to understand and has daily office hours
Don't take this class!! James Lamatina is by far the worst professor UAlbany has to offer. The absolute worst! He rushes through lectures and gives horrible in-class examples. He is not approachable and for some odd reason, he lectures with his eye shut. He is a harsh grader, doing all the quizzes/homework are no help for doing well on the exams.
Honestly a terrible teacher. If you go to him for help all he will say is "look at the directions." and if you don't understand the directions then he will look at you like you have 6 heads. No curve, no makeups, no extra credit, no missing class, and no hope. I had to S/U, I have a 3.7 and I would've gotten a D if I didn't S/U. Good Luck
I do not recommend him for math. he doesn't prepare you for the tests no curve or anything like that which is fine but he doesn't teach the material I highly recommend you do NOT take him even if that means taking this next semester.
he speaks with his eyes closed so don't count on having your question answered in class. if by chance he DOES open his eyes, he will yell the answer at you and treat you as an idiot. his use of language is awful and if you met him outside the college setting you would think he is uneducated. his tests have crazy long word problems. good luck.
He's really helpful during Office Hours and he has office hours everyday. He gives extra credit on the tests. He's a great professor, he makes corny jokes during lectures to keep the lesson entertaining. Don't buy the textbook. Unlimited tries on the homework and 3 attempts for the online quizzes. I would take him again for another math course.
For stats i think he is a really good professor. Clearly tells you whats going to be on the test the class before, two homework assignments per week online but they are supper easy mo more than 12 questions and you get three attempts to do eat question. Same goes for quizzes (three attempts per quiz).
Lamatina is a great professor! I had him last semester for AMAT 106. I understood him well for not being good at math at all. He really explains things thoroughly and goes through everything on the board. He is also very approachable outside of class with office hours almost everyday. Would definitely recommend to anyone and would take again.
This professor is the worst I have encountered in my college life. Very inconsiderate and doesnt care whether his students pass or fail his class. Does not offer any kind of help when you go to him. Take another professor if you have the option.
I never liked math but I absolutely loved this course because of how amazing the professor was. He made the class enjoyable and understandable. The slides and questions he went through during class were very helpful, and the homework was challenging yet helpful for the tests. Whenever I had questions, he was always willing to help at office hours.
I went into stats thinking it was going to be so difficult . This Professor is one of the most genuine teachers at UAlbany. Take stats with him and you will be fine. As long as you pay attention and go to office hours once in a while it will benefit. He is very approachable and likes to crack jokes in class. Always looked forward to his class.
Calculus is hard but James makes it worse. He teaches the concepts in the most complicated ways. You will learn the majority of material by teaching it to yourself, or by getting problems repeatedly wrong on the homeworks. He also lectures with his eyes closed. If you choose his class, get a good tutor.
He is a great professor overall. Very approachable outside of class and genuinely wants to see you do well in his class. Gives a week to do each homework, with unlimited attempts and drops the lowest two. Also gives 3 attempts to do the quizzes and drops the lowest one. He's a great person and very thorough with the lectures.
There's a hw 1 or 2 times a week. A quiz about every other week & there's 3 exams. You have to memorize the formulas for the 2 but he gives you a formula sheet for the final which is cumulative. He does 3-4 clicker questions per class too. The exams were rough because I couldn't memorize the formulas. But he was easy. Still wouldn't suggest though.
He doesn't elaborate on the material well. Very easy to get lost in the lecture. Doesn't answer questions. Most kids in the class will say the same. He's a decent guy but that doesn't do anything for your grade. Unless you're sitting in the first row in the center of the class, you might not do good. 20 HW's. 6 Quizzes. 2 Exams. Hard Final. THE END
James is awesome. He wants to make sure you succeed. He is super nice and his office hours are helpful.
An odd man, but a good teacher.
If you attend class frequently and do the online homework you'll do fine.
Doesnt explain things the best, and office hours are not much better. Go to the tutoring room
Dont take him. please . his grading will effect your GPA. hard exams and short time you cant even finished it because for every answer you have to show work .
The worst teacher I have ever had in college! If you do not get it, you need to seek outside help. Lamatina does not really care to help you outside of class. He also is not willing to work with you to help you succeed. If you get him for MAT106, go to your advisor and find another teacher ASAP. Horrible, horrible, horrible!
His lectures can be boring but explains every concept clearly. Homework every week (drops the lowest 2) and are very helpful for the exam. Exams are not hard if you complete all your homework and review your notes. Makes you memorize all the formulas for the first 2 exam. Last exam is cumulative but gives you a formula sheet. Does not curve! A93%
Ive taken his classes both semesters. First was for stats now its for calc and I absolutely love him. Ive been never been someone whos good at math in high school Ive always struggled but he makes math easy, and when I do struggle he is always very helpful in office hours and is always willing to help. Very nice man
Not a bad professor but does not seem very interested in helping students outside of class. All he does is read off of what is on the lecture slides and does not make any class very interesting. There are also not many opportunities to speak in class because he just goes through the powerpoints.
The single worst lecturer I've ever had to listen to. Seems like a decent enough guy, but is god awful when it comes to actually teaching. I have not seen him look up from his podium once this semester so he won't answer questions in class. He constantly cancels extra help and doesn't respond to emails. I have had to teach myself the entire class.
The lectures are long and boring. He closes his eyes and reads off the powerpoints. The inclass examples give a very basic understanding that doesn't help with the homeworks, quizzes, or the tests. For the 2 midterms, you have to remember around 15 formulas altogether. Currently at a B- and I expect to drop after the exam tomorrow.
He seems alright but if I had the option I definitely wouldnt take this class again. I had to teach myself the majority of the course material and its incredibly difficult to pay attention during lecture because its very boring.
His teaching methods are so backwards. Exam review for the first 2 exams but not the final? Formula sheet on the final but not the first 2 exams? Bunch of HW, boring lectures and he teaches things in the most difficult. For some reason adds stuff we dont need to know into his powerpoints. Had to teach most stuff myself. Avoid him at all costs!!!!!
This man genuinely does not care about his students. He comes in, reads off of his lackluster powerpoints while making sure that you are bored out of your mind, and then leaves. He doesn't offer any insightful analysis on the material and holds office hours at completely inconvenient times. If you want to succeed in stats DO NOT take him.
he is terrible and unhelpful. chats the whole 2 hours and doesn't stop or slow down to see if the class understands the material. he also does not care about students and their grades. no curve, no extra credit, no helpful review, nothing.
As long as you take good notes you'll pass. Go to class!
Professor Lamatina is a average professor, he is a typical math professor. There is lots of hw and quizzes that go over the most recent topics. Go to class and you will understand the topic if you miss a day you will be lost if you are not great at math like myself.
This class was literally a joke. I had to teach myself 90% of the material. His lectures didn't really make sense nor was his slides helpful. he gave no equation sheets for the first three exams but an equation sheet for the final which of course made the first exams harder and the final easier. Stats is pretty easy but with him its a bit difficult
Amazing guy who is always accessible for students with any questions or concerns about tests or homework. There is homework every week but it prepares you for the test and really isn't a big deal. 3 tests all semester and they are very simple. Don't stress, Lamatina is the man!
homework and quizzes every week but they help your grade. 3 exams, doesn't give you the equations for the first 2 but does for the final. very easy to do well. show up pay attention and you'll be fine
GREAT GUY, SUPER APPROACHABLE, BUT HORRIBLE PROFESSOR. WAY TOO MANY ASSIGNMENTS AND HAS NO CONSIDERATION TO LIGHTEN UP THE ASSIGNMENTS DURING THE SAME WEEK AS THE TEST. I WENT TO TUTORING EVERYDAY BECAUSE THE LECTURES WERE NOT HELPFUL. ALSO THERE ARE QUIZZES EVERY WEEK WITH TWO HOMEWORKS. TAKE IT WITH THE OTHER PROFESSOR.
Mandatory online software costs about $130. He doesn't take attendance so I stopped going because I wasn't ;earning anything from him. HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOUR PROBLEMS. The software has come under constant maintenance making completion of the assignments near impossible? You go to work, have 5 other classes, your family's sick? He doesn't care.
He's an average professor. He's not great at teaching but he makes it easy enough if you take the time outside of class to do the work you get an A. FYI he doesn't look up and keeps his eyes close so if your a person who asks questions this class isn't for you.
He is a great professor when it came to in-class lectures, but once we transitioned, he wasn't as great of a professor. This is my second time taking him as I took him for AMAT 108 as well and lets just say it was not as bad of an experience as I am dealing with now. Once we came home, his attitude changed and I get a rude demeanor when emailed.
This man literally does not care if you have any other classes, he gives work as if he is the only class you have, there is no way this class is a 100 lvl course! He is very rude and impatient, he teaches with his eyes closed, he just disregards all other issues students might have and he is not understanding what so ever!
This professor is very irresponsible. Many homework and quiz and exams pass the BB. We can't know that the questions are wrong, the grades are very slow, and the grade is not explained directly, which is very bad.
He is the worst professor I've had so far at Albany. He relentlessly assigns homework and quizzes, and his online lectures are confusing and hard to digest. When you reach out to him for help, he is rude and unhelpful(usually he tells you to figure it our yourself)
This professor acts as if the whole world revolves around his class and nothing else matters. Don't bother emailing him for help or to tell him that you're overwhelmed because he won't care. He is rude and impatient and straight up does not care if you fail.
I would sooner eat dirt than take a class with this guy again. He has absolutely zero empathy. The class was on WebAssign and I was unable to cover the semester costs until the end of the month. I asked him to make an exception and he straight up said no. Missed a month's worth of work that I could not make up. No extra credit.
Bad professor. Online vids didn't help and learning stats on your own made it even harder. Tests are very different from the homework and quizzes.
Assigns too much work on a weekly basic and his assignments take forever to complete. Rude in his emails and since the class is online you basically have to teach yourself math using his very confusing powerpoints which is nearly impossible. If possible take the class with another professor or at least wait until classes are in person again.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. I really tried my hardest to like him but he made it so difficult. He doesnt know how to communicate with his students. His very snotty and closed off. Save yourself the headache!
Assigns WAY too much work. Since classes are remote you're forced to learn stats through a powerpoint and he decided to make his final cumulative and use the lockdown browser despite you basically teaching yourself this class. If there are any other professors available I HIGHLY recommend not taking him. Also he is very rude in emails.
His not a good professor AT ALL gives so much work, doesnt know how to communicate with his students very very rude in emails. For the final he only gave 2 hours and 20 minutes but for the other exams he gave about 3 hours. Very bad grading criteria. JUST DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS!
Never did I think I would get the WORST professor ever in my first semester and year in college. He doesnt care to help you AT ALL. All he would do is tell you to go reread his email or look at the syllabus. He doesnt care if you fail or if you dont understand something. His so disrespectful in emails. DON'T SET YOURSELF UP TO FAIL.
Didn't have too many problems over the semester with him apart from him giving me the most work out of all my professors and how mean he was in emails. However my problem with him was the final. He made it a whole semesters work we had to remember and only gave us 2.5 hours. I thought this was completely unfair. Don't take him.
hands down the worst first semester experience ever due to this professor. you have any questions or concerns? he will not help you at all. he just assigns work like we dont have any other classes. DO NOT TAKE THE CLASS IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE MISERABLE.
worst professor ever at Albany, extremely rude doesn't help nor care about his students, shortened the time limit on the final exam and added more questions then what the class was usually used too, doesn't care about anyone but himself and doesn't help students at all, all he does is tell you to reread his emails which doesn't help at all
just dont take this class I beg of you. and he is the rudest professor ever when it come to emails and communication!
He uses the respondus monitor and lockdown browser software for his exams bc past classes got caught cheating. These 3 exams are worth such a high amount of percentage. He requires everything by hand even if theres a simple way in the calculator. If you think its an easy A class, youre wrong. You have to study and remember a lot!!
WORST professor ever. Horrible and rude communication. Horrible person to learn math from. If you have to take Calc, DO NOT i repeat DO NOT take professor lamatina. SERIOUSLY WORST PERSON EVER. Uses lockdown for all 3 exams, homework on mypearson.
Wanted to succeed so badly but he made it impossible. Did every single homework assignment to the best of my ability but it still wasn't enough to pass the class. His exams are worth EVERYTHING, if you aren't a good test taker don't take his class. Only thing positive I can say about him is that he responds to email in seconds, but he is very rude.
Probably the most inconsiderate professor ive had. He had us take all three exams with a lockdown browser because previous classes had been cheating. Mind you this is during a pandemic. Incredibly unthoughtful. No room for making up all the credit lost in exams. If youre like me and have test anxiety...i recomend staying FAR away.
Literally a terrible professor. He assigned more work than any of my other professors. He doesn't explain anything properly and it takes forever to complete his homework. He uses a lockdown browser for taking tests and it's such an inconvenience. Please do not take him if you have the choice.
Worst professor ever. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, dude is super rude and does not care about his students one bit. Course is heavily based on 3 exams. Repondus lockdown browser too. I feel sorry for myself coming across this professor. If you're ready to teach yourself this course, take him.
terrible professor, didn't learn one thing from him or his PowerPoints, learned everything from YouTube, studied nonstop for the exams all day for a week in advance in order to get an A. he doesn't teach anything, his PowerPoints are confusing to actually learn stuff. YouTube taught me. he is also a REALLY rough grader. don't take him.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER! Didn't learn anything in class and had to learn by myself watching videos. Also his teaching style is so whack, finishes topics that is going to be on the exams but gives the exam 2 weeks after and starts new lessons for the next exam during the 2 weeks of finishing topics for previous test. DONT TAKE THIS IDIOT PROFESSOR
I absolutely loved him, he was a terrific professor! You will get what you put in. I hate math and I am so dumb when it comes to math but I pulled an A in his class. He is wonderful I do not have enough good things to say about him. Besides being a professor he is just fun to talk to! I would love to take a class with him again if I could!!
Reads off slides and doesn't teach at all. Grades are directly based on tests.
I honestly feel like this is the worst class I've ever taken. Im usually pretty good at math but this professor really made it difficult. he goes so fast through his lectures, so if you don't go you'll be really behind. You have 2 homework assignments every week and if you finish the chapter you'll have a quiz too. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
To put this simply, this professor wants you to really understand statistics. If you are looking to pass this class for a quick credit, look elsewhere. He is a nice guy and good professor, but he goes very quickly and his grading system is predicated on passing the only two exams before the final. Good luck
Not the worst class, but you will need to work! I went to tutoring which was my holy grail for passing and doing well. I redid all the homeworks and quizzes in order to study. When I wasnt able to figure out the homework, I would email him and he would respond and was very helpful! I stopped attending his lectures, but kept going to tutoring!
Not a bad professor at all. Mediocre lecture slides, but the sets of slides with examples are extremely helpful. Two 7-10 question homeworks on Pearson MyLab each week as well as a quiz, all of which have multiple attempts. 2 big exams with excellent review lectures beforehand, and a cumulative final, with which he will provide a formula sheet.
In class, at first it was daunting as stats is heavy in formulas and he merely reads off the slides. I didn't always go to class but went to tutoring reviewing material there. He would email me back so quickly and was constantly ready to help me out if need be. Tests arent hard if you review all hws and quizzes. Put in the work and you'll get an A.
If you are not a math person I would HIGHLY advise you not to take statistics with Lamatina. He thinks teaching math should be done throughout paragraphs, and his tests are severly difficult if you do not understand math. There are 3 exams, uses webassign, everyone I know got < 40 on most exams, few people got above a B- as their final grade.
This class is hard to understand. Homework's are good but once the test comes its nothing like the homework. Don't bother writing an email if confused or have a question because it won't be any help, he'll just say look on blackboard.
AVOID THIS PROFESSOR! If he's the only professor drop the course and take it another time. The tests aren't spaced out well and he includes a lot of material to study. Although he is not the one grading the tests (he has the TA do it), they are graded very harshly. I had to change this class to S/U and I am still worried about passing the class.
ignore the bad reviews for this prof. I took precalc and ap calc ab in high school and there was not a single thing we went over in class that I did not already know. Very easy if you have even a basic understanding of calc. He seems like a nice guy, he'll try to make jokes and always thoroughly answers questions. Very easy class
By far the worst professor I've ever had. He was rude to his students, laughed when they handed in tests cause he knew they failed. Overall had no respect for his students. He didn't care how we all did, he didn't do anything to help his students. He's the worst professor EVER. Don't waist your time because he'll fail you.
All I have to say is DON'T take his classes. He doesn't care about his students at all! Don't ask for help or extra credit because you'll be hit with a RUDE email. JUST DONT DO IT.
rude and not understanding
very rude in emails, most of the grade was composed of 3 tests and homework.
So far this is the worst professor I have ever had. His homework's are absolutely nothing like the tests. He is rude in his emails and is very poor at explaining things. Basically your entire grade is based off of 2 exams and then a final. He does not curve anything which makes it tough for students to pass this class. Get any other professor!!!!
Worst professor. Horrible teacher. Horrible overall
Is rude in emails, does not have any concern for others. Talks the whole lecture, homework unlike his quizzes, do not pick him as a teacher even if he is the only one on the planet.
He is very genuine and sweet.
The class is tough. He posts the lecture slides and attendance isn't mandatory. Depending on the size of your class, if it's under 30 people he will do weekly quizzes to help boost your grade. The class can be confusing and his wording can be too, but he's a kind guy. Just a tough class and lots of content to learn with not a lot of time.
He says the exams are made up of homework but they aren't. Unless you've taken calc before you will struggle. He also doesn't curve or do extra credit. There are 3 exams and honestly I've taken so many tutoring sessions but I still can't seem to get a good test grade. If you have another option, take it.
Great person and great professor. If you have taken any AP credits, the workload is similar if not less. Many do struggle, but if you have a math background, you will be just fine! Homework assignment every class (on WebAssign) and quizzes almost every week (if you are in a small class).
He goes over lecture notes each class and writes stuff on a white board. A homework assigned on WebAssign after each class due in 1 week. 2 exams based on chapters, and then a final. No quizzes. He has a lot of office hours as well as the math department so there is a lot of extra help.
Lectures can 100 slides long yet you still need another resource to understand material. Your hand will be raised for 20 minutes before he calls on you because he doesn't look/engage with the students as he teaches. Extremely rude when responding to questions or emails. Unless you've taken calc or something of that level you will struggle. Avoid
Best advice: DO NOT take the class with him. Extremely rude and do not help you achieving anything and seems like he only wants to fail the class. No extra credit, no curve no nothing and class lecture extremely difficult. Should have come here and read the reviews before taking this class with him
test is heavy, the hw does not even raise your grade. the test does not make any sense and a lot of short answers He gives a sarcastic rude response through email don't bother about asking what is the right answer to the question, you will literally have to go to his office for one little question, also has no TA to go to besides him for help.
This professor made this class impossible. He stares at the floor with his eyes closed so you cant ask any questions. His lectures are very dull and the slides are lackluster. He goes over problems during class, but they do not correspond to the hw or tests. The tests make up your entire grade. He is rude and doesn't care what you get in his class.
Online HW after every class, doesn't take that long. 3-4 tests, gotta memorize the formulas but he gives you a sheet with all of them for the final. Just do review HWs and memorize the formulas for each test and they'll be easy for you. No trick questions on the test and outlines the questions so you don't have to jump steps. Lectures are fine, eh.
He stares at the ground while he teaches so he can never see if you're raising your hand for a question. He doesn't explain the material well and isn't willing to help. The lectures are so boring and he moves quickly. The exams can make or break you since there are only 3. Alot of hw. Don't take his class.
Great Math Professor. His lecture slides are very clear and helpful. You can always ask him questions about the Material or HW and he helps well. The homework is more challenging than the Tests, but the Tests are cumulative in Material. However, if you can solve all the homeworks by yourself it should be no problem. No extra credits and no curves.
Please, do not take his class. I'm sorry man but you were the worst professor I have ever had. I hope you are better to your future students. (if you have any)
Hard to grasp material concepts; his teaching style is very unprofessional and he tends to make even the simple things complicated. I would advise students to look elsewhere.
Nah, pass. Worst you can get, look for someone who knows what they're doing.
This was by far the worst class I have ever taken in my life. He makes everything difficult and expects you to memorize each formula for quiz/tests until final exam (in my opinion that is ridiculous) no graphing calculators allowed either which is odd since this is a basic level stats class. I do not recommend this class to anyone.
It was so bad I want to give it a zero, but thats not possible so I give it a 1. dont take him, tests are 70% of your grade, he is so passive aggressive in office hours.
Treats different lectures of the same exact class differently, only giving some quizzes, but not all. He also has these "buzz words" that get obnoxious the 50th time he misuses them. One of them is "in terms of _", where he says it 10-15 times per lecture. His homework assignments are long and we have to pay too much money for the homework service
all I have to say is that he is by far the worst professor at UA. DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES WITH HIM.
he has a horrible attitude towards people, will accuse you of either not paying attention or trying to cheat if you come to him with questions. his lecture style is horrible as well as horribly boring. I don't think a professor has been as unbearable
Three exams take up 70% of your grade and HW only 30%. On top of that, you cannot bring a formula sheet for the first two exams and we have to memorize many formulas. Also, for the final, it is cumulative, meaning you have to remember everything. Try to take this class during the Summer or Winter with a different professor.
I mean this without exaggeration: genuinely one of the worst professors I have ever had. Does not know how to teach at all. His lectures are long, rambling, and nonsensical. Obnoxious personality; repeats the same "jokes" and buzzwords ad nauseam. Homework is brutal. And to top it all off, his voice sounds like a symphony of nails on chalkboards.
honestly he is an average professor, he is not the worst but definitely not the best. It is very text heavy, the final is cumulative. He doesn't answer people's questions and just not nice.
ONE WORD. NO. DON'T. I know those are two words but either one works. Pick another professor.
Bro this guy closes his eyes when he faces the students just to make sure u cant ask him any questions. The lectures are unnecessarily complicated and there are 3 exams the entire year that basically dictate ur grade. Bro just reads off the slides. I ended up just teaching myself everything which worked out better 4 me. dont take
There are two homework assignments every week which take 20 minutes each. The tests are easy if you study for them by memorizing the formulas which you can find some quizlets for. The lectures are not very interesting so try to pay attention as much as possible. If you do the homework and study for the tests you will be fine. Curves final grade.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! BAD TEACHER, NOT UNDERSTANDING, HEAVY WORKLOAD, DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE WELL-BEING OF STUDENTS. I've only ever written positive r.m.p post but this was by far the worse professor I've ever experienced. There is a reason for so many of the 1 star reviews. Don't be like me and try to look past them.
Believe me when I say that this is the worse math professor at UAlbany. If you want to spend a semester in a boring lecture, doing two homework assignments a week that are due at 4:29pm, with a professor who is difficult, rude and disrespectful then this is the class for you. Every single negative review is correct! Please choose another professor.
Do not take this Professor
This professor is horrible. My honest opinion about this man can't even fit into 350 words. GO TO TUTORING AND FOLLOW THE TEXTBOOK. He is no help so teach yourself on this course using youtube and the textbook.
Professor Lamatina really helped me understand statistics. You need to memorize formulas for the first 2 exams, which is not difficult if you do the homework. You will receive a formula sheet for the final. Take good notes during class and you will do amazing. You get many attempts on the homework. Treat him with respect, he will respond likewise.
Honestly none of the stats teachers are good. he's prob not the worst one. Theres like two homeworks every week sometimes they're long sometimes short. they get way harder as you go along so prepare for that. he gave a quiz every week so make sure not to miss class. he's a nice guy but he stares at the ground while he lectures and is super monotone
his voice is excruciatingly annoying. everytime I am in his class I want to become deaf. when im telling you this man does not know how to teach, I am being 100% honest. I sometimes think how this man got his PhD and is able to teach math here because he should not be able to. Reads off power points and keeps on yapping
James is a great teacher. If you actually go to the lectures and take the time to write things down. He makes a lot of sense. You can tell he really cares about his job.
Weekly tests and hw. You will do well if youre good at math and have taken calc in high school. Even if you're not good at math, this professor probably will teach you the best. Take notes and you will be fine. One con is he drags out the full 1.2 hours, he barely spares extra minutes.
failed over 100 kids in one semester, horrible guy. horrible teaching. he probably writes his own positive reviews because lol there's no way anybody thinks good about him. he should be fired for many, many things. ugh. LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Starts talking right at the start of class and doesn't stop to breath until the end. Very hard to keep up if you don't already know whats going on. He teaches fine but don't take if you arn't a math person.
Honestly, out of all the stats professors, he's probably the best. He takes time out of his day to help you understand material if you talk to him. 2 Exams and a cumulative final. Definitely pay attention in lecture and take notes, they will help. You won't be leaving class early, ever tho. Weekly homeworks on Cengage MindTap.
very difficult to understand the way he teaches, and exams are not easy at all! Doesn't curve exams or grades, and no extra credit is given.
I have had this guy 3 times now, I love math, and despise every class. Monotone and unengaging, you will see his class be near empty after the first day and the causation is his teaching, not just lazy students. I'm sure his knowledge on the material is great but his engagement skills make you hate it, you're practically tortured all semester.
Idk I liked him. He was quirky and explained everything pretty thoroughly. I stopped going to class mid semester since there's no attendance taken, but he was good when I did go. He is a talker though. Genuinely will not stop. Probably why I stopped going.
Decent professor. His class is very much based off of his lectures, which he recites while staring at the ground. He talks forever, you aren't ever getting out of his class early and his lectures can often be dry. If you listen to him even a little bit you should be fine.
Brodie does a lot of talking not teaching. He doesn't look at anyone and when he faces the class his eyes are closed. Your cooked
GUYS listen to me DO NOT but like DO NOT take this class with him please. you are just going to stress. the lectures are heavy and he just does talking bot not explaining. No extra credit, not curving no nothing. The test are so heavy and difficult and he is such a tough grader. He should be gone by now.
Can be very dismissive and rude. I got better scores not coming to class and studying on my own.
Professor Lamatina is a very nice, understanding, and accessible professor. Digressing from bad reviews, he was able to accommodate me anytime I needed in office hours. I did need office hours frequently and spent a lot of time outside of class practicing problems, but my grade was worth it. Be ready to put the work in, but I would recommend him.
do not take this professor.
all I can say is avoid this professor at all times majority of my class failed do not take him!
made my freshman academic year very stressful
Don't take this class.
Take it online in the winter and drop this class. Pay the extra money and get a good grade. The worst professor at UAlbany and it's not close.
Weekly homeworks but they are easy. Test and course material were a joke as even the tests I thought I would struggle on I aced. He responds to homework question answers and emails within a few hours without fail. IDK why people hate his class was cheese.
HW assigned after each lecture, reviews in class before the two exams but there's no review for the final which is cumulative. Exam format is terrible and confusing and is nothing like what he says it will be (similar to the homework assignments) He is accessible outside of class & a lot of tutoring opportunities. Take this class at your own risk.
Do not take this class.
He had a 3.7+ GPA my entire college career. As a cybersecurity major this class was a mandatory gen-ed; and was the only class I had ever gotten below a B in. His lectures drag on, unless you can learn by staring at a PowerPoint for 2 hours you won't learn anything. Makes fun of students for asking questions, and is rude in emails. 0/10 awful
He talks a lot but I love it, he enjoys teaching and loves his students. When I got into a car crash (commuter) he allowed me to make up the weekly tests on my own schedule when there was someone available to bring me to school until the end of the semester. I have never came across a prof that cared more than he did. Just take notes to do well!
Should retire, not made for teaching.
TERRIBLE. DO NOT TAKE AMAT108 WITH HIM. TESTS ARE VERY HARD. PROFESSOR CAN NOT TEACH. STAY FAR AWAY.
He IS IMPOSSIBLE STUDYING WILL NOT HELP YOUR DOOMED
I'm ngl he was ok. I don't think I learned anything from this class because they were boring and usually confusing. But the homework was easy, and he would even help in office hours if needed. If you do the practice exams, you will do great on the test; that's exactly what I did and got a A-.
only take this class if you want to torture yourself. he assigns so many hw assignments and his lectures are so unhelpful. i would tell you to skip it but he makes you sign an attendance sheet. doesnt look at the class because he has his eyes shut the entire 90 minutes and repeats himself a concerning amount of times.
First off, made an online lecture before the semester started, doesn't curve grades, doesn't give extra credit, you WILL have to learn the lesson on your own, doesn't give proper examples, doesn't ask if people understand. Talks the whole lecture, review class doesn't help, take another professor, if you can't, learn on your own.
Lots of information you need to retain. Expect homework due and assigned after every lecture. He is nice and does help, I won't lie. But it's math what do you expect.
way too much homework and hard grader
not a good professor and a very hard class
Yaps all the time during lectures, grades harshly on exams, class is test heavy, however, homework assignments are online and actually not bad, but you do need to put in a lot of effort. Teaches with his eyes closed, very rude as well. Be prepared to self-teach everything if you take this class and utilize the walk in tutoring room.
long speech, hard to follow with notes, speaks faster long periods of time, no mercy
