class isnt that hard. workbook takes time but is easy. group project sucks. tests arent too hard prolly about average. not a big deal, take him at least he knows what he is doing. easy B, an A u might have to work a little harder for.

This class ROCKS... i think everyone should take it. You get a better understanding on how the CJ system is.

Definitely my favorite professor at CSUF!!

Had him for CJ 340 & CJ 475. He is the only professor in the history of all of mine to always wear Vans shoes, jean shorts and some kind of old rag shirt. His lectures could be much organized, and he is ALWAYS 15 mins late to class.

Lasley is my favorite professor at csuf. Love the vans and the matching shirts. All of his classes are so chill...he's always late, always got jokes...and there is no way you cant pass this class.

Very laid back, guaranteed 15 minutes late. Workbook is a joke, class lectures could be a little clearer (esp for 330) but you have to be a total idiot not to get at least a B in this class.

CJ 340 notes could be MUCH clearer. Have 1 group project, 3 tests and a work book. CJ 475T (forensic psych) EASY class, easy tests, and a work book. This class was about IDing serial killers. He will not fail you even if you do bad in the class, he is that laid back. I think all got B's or better. Cancelled tours. CJ 455 class was boring. 1 test, 1 workbook easy A. Every tour got cancelled again! Lasley cut class 90 mins each day during winter.

My favorite professor at CSUF! Really easy to understand his lectures and he makes it fun. If you know the material you will do fine on tests, no one should get any lower than a B in any of his classes. I was distracted a little in class because I find him to be a very attractive man.

If you think Lasley is easy...take him in summer or intersession--he's even easier! I've taken 4 classes w/him...piece of cake! Loved his gangs and forensic psychology classes...very interesting and fun. You will definately learn something, he's just really laid back during vacation.

Take this guy during summer! He is awesome. Starts class 30 minutes late and you get out 10 minutes early. Cancels class about once a week. Makes the stuff pretty interesting. Group project is time consuming but rather interesting. Take this guy!

He is a very nice interesting cute man. Very easy to talk to and very fun. Sometimes he makes weird comments, but then again that's what makes the class fun. His exams are kind of hard if you don't study.

This prof rocks!!! Took probably the most unexciting class in all of CJ and made me interested. Very funny, able to relate things in laymans terms. Tests can be a little tricky, but there is not much to study. Anyone who is looking to learn but have a good time doing it, this is the prof for you!!!

He is a pretty cool guy, laid back, funny at times, the only warning is that his tests are more difficult than he makes them seem, he is an easy B, a little harder to get an A, go to every class, you will want to anyway, oh yeah, he is attractive in this wierd, dorky, cute way, and a COOL PERSONALITY!

Easy class, see all the other previous comments. he did do something different this semester, in that instead of a writing assignment, we had to critique articles in the back of his book, still easy though.

Makes the class fun. Has many good stories that make the class interesting. The tests are based on the lecture notes and the book material. He doesn't take attendence but you have to attend class to get the notes, since half of the questions on all the test are lecture note based. Also the tests are open book and open notes. Good class.

I've taken 3 of his classes and they were all setup the same. Two tests, no paper, article summaries from the book. All the tests are open book/open note. If you take good notes then you'll have all the answers. Sometimes the material is boring but he makes it fun by the way he teaches.

Well even though I took him for the driest CJ class that I was required to take, he still somehow made it fun. If you can, take him if anything for research methods!

He's funny, knows a lot, very knowledgable in this area, he has done a lot of research, you will most likely end up with a B or better... he's also kinda cute even his laugh is cute/funny :)

Never a dull moment in this class. He's very experienced in his field, especially in corrections. Many of his lectures include stories and examples from his first hand experiences. Attendance isn't mandatory but go to all you can.

Fairly easy...just attend class and take notes..he never takes roll so dont worry about attendance but if you miss class you will miss notes. ..

Lasley is a laid back approachable entertaining and very EASY professor.took him 4 times but i wish i could take him for every class.there are no textbooks all you need to do is come to class and take notes.his tests are straight up and easy. randomly gives out EC pts for no reason.no paper just need to complete a workbook but its super easy also

guys TAKE HIM he is so funny!! no HW, 3 multiple choice test. he gives u an option to either buy the book or buy a packet that he does and u turn it in the last day of class. attendance is not mandatory BUT! all his tests are straight up from the notes. unless u choose to do the book option..TAKE HIM :)

Awesome teacher!! Take him! Just buy his workbook do the 10 articles and take home exam and 2 midterms one final. He's clear and tests are not cumulative :) you need to study for his test though!! I recommend

Great professor.doesn't take attendance. no textbook just buy his workbook and summarize the articles in 3/4 to one page double spaced. tests are harder than he says- not cumulative. Not really available to students and doesn't give copies of notes. otherwise very knowledgeable and laid back

Lasley is a great professor and really knows his stuff from experience. Lots of humor and personality. 3 lecture non-cumulative exams and a work book. Great class, only downside is that there is no study guide and the exams are a bit tricky.

I enjoyed going to class! The material was interesting! The workload was not too bad.

Just show up to class, take notes and study the notes at least 3 times or so the night before the exam and you should be fine. Only negative is having to pay almost 90 bucks for the workbook due at the end of the semester. otherwise easy class, hilarious professor.

Great professor and enjoyable class. He has humor too which makes class great. There are three test and you will do well on all if you study class notes. The professor makes the class easy to understand and interesting. If you have any questions he will respond to you quickly and is very helpful in person. I definitely recommend this instructor.

Easiest professor ever. Option 1: textbook & essay or option 2: $80 workbook. I chose the workbook which was simple. It was all true/false questions. 3 50 question MC tests. I recommend taking his 100 and 300 class at the same time because they're the same thing. Don't need to go to both and only need to do 1 workbook overall. 6 units for 1 class

took his forensic psychology class. surfer dude with HARD exams!!!! Make sure you write everything down on his powerpoint. best thing is that he is willing to wait for you to take notes, but good luck!

Prof. Lasley is a great lecturer he simply gets to the point on his PowerPoints (the way it should be). Teaches well, has some funny stories to share, and there's no workload. There's 3 exams; 2 midterms & final. Fairly easy! Trust me. Only thing you have to do is review your notes form lecture and you'll pass with A's and B's. Gives extra credit!

I would recommend this class to anyone, CJ major or not. Lasley is super chill. He does not take attendance, but you should still show up because his powerpoints provide all of the information you need for the 3 exams. You can choose a 10 page paper OR workbook that cost $100. Some extra credit is offered in the workbook. Overall easy class.

This is by far the most enthusiastic professor that i have taken on campus. If you do not pass his class with a B or greater, you need HELP!!!!

We are graded based on 3 exams which are all multiple choice. Pay attention to the lectures and his explanations and you'll pass the exams. He has a review day before the exam where he tells you everything that will be on it. Then he has a traditional, and an optional way of grading you for the writing component. Do the optional and its an easy A.

Amazing lectures! I had him for 3 hours once a week and I never dreaded going. He gave breaks and let us out early everyday. His lectures are all powerpoints and he has a nice sense of humor. The workbook is expensive but it's an easy 100 pts. I guessed on all the questions and still got full credit. The tests (3) are worded tricky but not too bad

Take his class! You won't regret it. His classes are always interesting and he has a great sense of humor.I took 3 of his classes and I not once got bored in his classes. Make sure to choose the alternative when he provides the choice for traditional or alternative.

Choose the alternative route! The questions in the workbook are easy and there is easy extra credit too. His class is not hard but you need to make sure you know everything in his lectures. He usually starts class a few minutes late and lets the class leave a few minutes early too. His tests are 50 questions of multiple choice.

Have to be there in class for notes because the notes will be on the exam. Rewords the exams differently from the powerpoint slides so beware. Do the alternative option for $102 you get a workbook you do at home since it is easy points. Recommend to use a laptop since he moves on from a slide pretty quickly. 3 Midterm 1 Final+Workbook

Prof. Lasley is the MAN of the CJ department. Best professor! He has a bunch of stories about his time working in the Criminal Justice field and is very funny. He does not post the lectures online. This professor is one of the best professor!!! He is clear on exactly what expects from his students! Passionated and hilarious professor as well. If you fail his class, it was not him it is you! Very simple assigments and tests that you will obviously have to study for but it is something anyonecan do if they put it the effort! Awesome professor

Great professor. He has worked in the field for many years so he has some stories every now and then. He loves talking about jail culture. The tests seemed easy and he curves each one by at least 10%. There are two paths to the class: one with a workbook and the other a ten page essay. The essay path uses the textbook and the workbook uses lectures

Lasley is one of the most laid back professors at CSUF. This class is structured like most of his classes. 3 exams, 1 workbook (complete 5 analysis for extra credit) Really interesting class I would recommend for anyone interested to take it

Lasley is one of the best professors in CSUF. His lectures are good and informative, he does give several opportunities for extra credit and does give his students the option of how they want the class to run throughout the semester. He is also extremely funny.

Amazing prof! Super easy class. Took this class during the pandemic (so it might be a bit different), but consisted of a midterm, final (which was T/F), and a workbook that has 100 Q's. The workbook was about $75 dollars. He does give you the option to write an essay instead of the workbook. TBH I did not really attend class and managed to pass!

His exams are open notes (no proctorio). We only meet through zoom a few times in the semester. He posts the lectures online. He offers a lot of extra credit! Lasley will always be one of the funniest professors!

I loved the class so much that I'm now taking him for as many classes I can for Spring. he's extremely educated on the topic and uses a lot of personal experiences/ stories which make the class more interesting. zoom isn't required. just posted powerpoints 3 times a week. 3 exams, 1 paper or workbook, and 1 extra credit quiz

Amazing CJ professor. He gives the option of an alternative midterm & final which also includes a workbook you have to buy and answer the 100 questions at the end (very easy) or the traditional midterm & final which includes a pretty long term paper you have to write. You only need the required textbook if you are choosing the traditional method.

Lasley is the best. Choose the alternate version if you love yourself. Take notes, study before exams, and you should be fine. He's awesome and always tries to lighten the mood with his little jokes. Just a great guy overall. 11/10 recommend.

This class is a joke, in a good way. I only showed up to class to take the 2 midterms and the final... passed with flying colors. If you can do the reading on your own, then it's an easy A. Professor Lasley is AMAZING to say the least. Hes very sweet and caring , hasgreat lectures and stories and offers a good amount of extra credit!! He genuinely wants his students to pass and learn in his class. Hes also very understanding and helpful!! Im taking him for 2 more semesters!! I would definitely recommend taking him if you can!!!

He is very funny and he tells students funny stories about his career. It makes the lectures interesting. His class is fairly easy, he makes it easy for students to pass as long as you put in a decent amount of studying and taking notes.

The class was pretty straightforward with lectures and 3 exams. He also offered an option to do an end-of-the-semester essay assignment or simply purchase a $75 workbook and complete it. He also offers extra credit at the end of the semester which drastically helps. Exams were quite difficult, topics on exams were not covered in lectures.

He has a ton of experience in the criminal justice field. His lectures are fun and he gets straight to the point. Please take him if you get the chance.

Very funny and caring professor. He made sure that everyone understood the material and was always happy to address questions or concerns. There were 3 tests, a workbook and an extra credit opportunity (very helpful). The last 2 tests were pretty difficult (topics not fully discussed in class). But overall, it was a very enjoyable class.

Tests are mostly based on the lectures (if you choose the alternative option). However, there are some questions not covered lectures so write down everything he says just in case. He doesn't post lectures either so show up as much as you can. He doesn't ask for much, but that doesn't mean it's an easy A so study as much as you can.

The slides were straightforward and during lectures, he would point out what was going to be on the test. Before every test (there are 3), we would do a review of all the information you need to know. I went to almost every class, even though I only took the class for my GE, since it was interesting.

He is my favorite professor. The only thing you have to do is come to his lecture and take notes on things he says, and then you will get an easy A. The workbook assignment was super easy. I love the way he gives detailed information about each topic using his experience in the field, and he always seems to enjoy sharing all that information!

Professor Lasley's lectures may be hit or miss, but engaging with his teaching style pays off. The workbook is a lot of work, but using resources like ChatGPT and unstuckstudy can make study prep a breeze. Overall, a solid class if you're willing to put in the effort.

James Lasley gives opportunities for extra credit, I literally failed all my exams and Got a F but I completed the extra credit and got a B. He lectures by power points and doesn't upload the lectures and it is mandatory to attend lectures because are exams are based on lectures.

Prof lasley is the best at csuf hands down, he's been doing this for years so he is a bit old school but he does not want his students to fail. He is soooo knowledgeable and gives us a lot of opportunities but you do need to study which I'm not sure why is a problem for many students, but if you put in the work you will pass

Although attendance is not mandatory, knowledge needed for exams is told in lectures. Students were annoying they'd get up and pack 5 minutes before class ended and I'd feel so bad for him YALL STOP SILENCING THE MAN the class is already 50 minutes.Also he lets student choose turning in a workbook or do a paper thats due at the end of semester.
