STAY AWAY FROM PROFESSOR! HE CONSTANTLY MISGRADES QUIZZES AND EXAMS. IT WAS A HASSLE TRYING TO GET HIM TO CORRECT OUR GRADES AFTER HE MISGRADED THEM. I DID NOT GET THE GRADE I EARNED BECAUSE HE NEVER UPDATED MY GRADES IN THE COMPUTER.
Eh. If your not a good test taker don't take his class. His whole class is based off of his test and quizes.. and they're pretty hard. but they make the final pretty easy if you pay attention and actually understand what he taugh. Definately not an easy A though.
Overall, very clear, especially for a math teacher. His whole class grades ride on the tests, so if youre not a good tester, this one may be a challenge. I enjoyed him as a teacher, but it is precalculus so it isn't easy to begin with.
Really cool teacher down to Earth willing to help students any time and knows his math which is what hes teaching. Tests are somewhat tuff but he does give a homework grade of 100% as long as you do 75% of it which is all online on the mylabsplus also gives some bookwork for study.
He explains concepts and gives examples in very layman's terms, but his tests are always on more complicated stuff. the "give and example" button on the online homework explained it better. If you take this class make sure to do every single question per chapter given in the book and online homework and you should be fine.
He is a very good teacher. He helps his students alot even during exams. He takes quiz at the first of each session and you can answer the quiz with your classmates. Each exam has extra credit question which can helps students alot.I had hated trigonometry. After I took his Math 127 classes, I love it.
If you have no job, no social life, and don't mind spending most of your free time studying, you MIGHT get an A or a B. On the first exam, the highest score in the whole class was a 78%. Not fun or easy in any way, and will probably ruin my GPA (if I don't drop it first).
If you are struggling in math, take this class because you will once again regain control. James Lee makes it easy for us to understand the material. I highly recommend!
Awesome teacher! Helped me understand everything I struggled with in past math classes. Gives a quiz every class, but they're problems directly from the textbook homework. Tests are hard, but gives partial credit. Take him, you won't regret it!
Even after starting one week late into a 6 week Summer semester, I was able to finish the class with a B. Professor Lee is a great instructor. His lectures a very structured and clear, and you always know what he expects. The tests were more difficult than the homework, but everything was manageable and he was always willing to help.
he puts problems on the exam that he never goes over or on the review sheet. What's the point in a review sheet if 20% of the problems aren't on it? I would advise anyone that is not extremely strong at math to find another instructor. Skips a lot of steps in examples and only gives super basic examples. Average in the class was a 70% not good
There were 4 exams that were moderately difficult. They were loosely synonymous with his lectures. Quiz for every lecture and they're also his attendance. Overall I'd take another one of his classes again. He was a great teacher, very likeable, he just goes very fast in his teachings so keep up! If you do the work and study you'll get an A for sure
Nice professor the problem is his lectures are bad. He talks to fast, skips steps , does not add any steps for note taking. Quiz everyday for extra credit, ask students for any questions, hes there if needed. His lectures just suck. He seems to care more about a schedule then actually teaching properly step by step.
Lee is a great teacher, he knows his material. You should print out the notes and bring them to class, its easier to follow along. homework is very simple and easy, tests are a little tough but as long as you are there all the time and study the review it shouldnt be that bad. Overall a good prof. I recommend him.
Professor Lee is amazing! He literally does everything possible to make his students succeed. He assigns a book, an online component, and quizzes every lecture. His lectures can be a bit unclear at times but he's fully willing to back up and explain something again if you just don't get it. No accumulative final and very cut and dried. 5 tests.
Prof lee is an awesome teacher. He loves math but he always to be in a rush to finish the lecture. The positive thing is that during quizzes you can work in groups. and quizzes are online. But you have to round a lot in the quizzes. Its annoying but overall easy grade!
He is a great professor, his tests are just a little tough.
I took a hybrid course. All homework was on Aleks, a unit consisted of 10-12 topics required to master weekly, each easy and similar. Class wasn't required, but included a small 5 question test for extra credit. There was a test about every month, but his webpage provided a lot of useful information and study guides to help you prepare to it.
Great guy. He is very helpful to his students and is always there when you need him. If your not good at math, then there's no good teacher for you. Math sucks, James lee makes is less painful. Would absolutely take him again.
Great math professor! Was dreading Math 126 because I don't really like math, but Professor Lee made it bearable, simple, and enjoyable. Had a quiz every day that was extra credit, notes were easy to follow and thorough, and tests were like sample problems. Always willing to help if you ask him and will do as many examples as needed. Awesome prof.!
Professor Lee has very very sloppy hand writing, and writes very small. If you have an issue about seeing his handwriting, you MUST TELL HIM. or else he'll go on with it as it is. He skips steps sometimes so it gets confusing but he gives extra credit. He lets us work in groups which is very good. Communication is key with this professor.
I liked the way he teaches, his lectures are clear. However his test are UNREASONABLY hard and worth 60% of you grade. he also doesn't let you use calculators at all. i got 100% on homework, did well on the EC quizzes and still failed. its a hard class to begin with and the weight of the tests make it worse.
He's one of the best teachers I had, I rarely had to study because his lectures and homework's were sufficient. I also like the way he runs the class. I would definitely take him again for other math courses if I needed them and he was teaching them.
Professor Lee's lectures were fairly easy to follow along with and understand. He always encourages his students to ask questions if they are ever feeling lost about something. There are 4 exams and 1 final. Homework is optional but certain questions from the homework is used on the quizzes. All points from quizzes are extra credit.
I had Professor Lee for as my first Mathematics professor starting college, and his lectures could not have been more clear than it was. Personally, with me being familiar with the material, I found myself yawning a couple times but overall great class. I loved the fact that he does not allow calculators (BEWARE if you can't do math by hand)!
Coming from failing basically all of high school math I entered into a stretch course beginning in 95 and into 120. Math has become my favorite class and his enthusiasm to teach is very helpful. Would take more classes more seriously if more Professors dedicated as much as he does.
Cool Dude
Mr. Lee does a great job explaining the material he covers in class. Quiz every class for extra credit. Attendance not required but keep in mind, math 128 is extremely challenging. Homework is challenging, exams are extremely challenging, the final more so still. If I passed so can you. Good luck. Fast passed class be ready to learn. No calculators
The course material was hard to do especially without a calculator. Lee is a great teacher and will answer questions when you ask. His handwriting is bad but if you tell him he'll fix it. The suggested book problems were the daily quizzes and they do help. He's always open to questions and to help so just ask.
He is AWESOME! I'm not good at math and he made everything so clear. He is such a nice guy and there to help when students get stuck. He is also d relatable. I would take him for 126 but of course his class is already full. If you have the opportunity to take his class, DO IT! 3 Exams, weekly quizzes for EXTRA CREDIT!
I took his math 95-math120 bridge class in the spring of 16 and it was hard, at least for me. If you are gonna take this class, take them separately not together because you are basically taking two classes at once and it gets hard and confusing. He gives extra points for hw and his tests are like his study guides.
I took the math 126 class of his. it was a hybrid class. I found it really difficult because it is a hybrid class but he does go out of his way to help you if you ask. He was very kind and tried his best to explain the answers to all of your questions but sometimes it was just more confusing. weekly quizzes so look out for that
He does skip steps like everybody else has said before, and it is the most frustrating thing ever. Basically if you don't have a good understanding of math than do not bother at all taking him. Also when he writes on the board it's small and intelligible. The only good thing I have to say is that he is cute.
I highly recommend to take him even if u are not good in Math as he always explains lectures to be understandable with simplest and easiest ways. U have to take daily quiz which helps u to memorize ur single lecture. Testes are not that difficult if U don't miss assignments and reviews. I bet u will like his method of teaching and MATHS.
Pretty easy class to pass he only gives out about 8 problems for homework a week. The exams are open book and you get 2 attempts which was great give you a chance to see what you need to focus on in-order to get a better grade!
I loved this teacher. He's very helpful during class and doesn't mind if you ask questions during the lecture. He's very clear on what is worth what through out the class and gave extra credit that helped with my grade. So long as you do the homework/ class work and ask questions when you need to it'll be easy.
He does give feedback and has games for learning online
Professor Lee gets right to the point of the lecture without the boring grade school lecture style, all of the information is made easy to understand and he will help anyone who asks for help. He also doesn't give out a ton of redundant homework assignments and his study guides are key to passing the exams.
Fantastic professor. He is clear about grading and teaches the material well. He used a free textbook and offers a little extra credit on each test and does daily quizzes that only count for extra credit. Homework is optional and he reviews it in class.
great teacher!!
This class is worth your time. Quizzes are extra credit and you can work with peers. He makes sure to review before each exam and answers every question. Lectures are easy to understand, and he actually cares about his students. You may need to go to the math center for help, but you can always ask before/after class. Take his class if you can.
Awesome lectures, learned a lot, would definitely take again.
Really good professor Im not good at math and did pretty good. The only down side is no calculators are allowed for his class.
Math 96 was super easy. He doesn't mind when you ask him questions during an exam. He also gives extra credit.
Im awful at math and I was terrified for this class. James Lee is a good Professor and he does provide extra credit during quizzes and 3 chapter test extra credit. But his lectures too fast and his writing is hard to read. His exams are simple but for someone that is awful at math then they are extremely hard. Wish he could do more extra credit.
Professor Lee explains the material in an "easy-to-understand" fashion. He gives you every opportunity to succeed. Though I never heard him count against not attending, I would recommend you attend every class due to the extra credit quizzes. I will be taking this Professor for higher level math classes, no question!
He's awesome! If you don't understand something, he'll do another example but use a different method. His homework isn't mandatory, but it really helps. There are a lot of opportunities for credit; extra credit quizzes that you work on with your classmates, several tests, a take-home final, and an in-class final. He actually made math feel easy.
Prof. Lee is super helpful. I wish all math teachers cared the way he does. I took him over the summer and I think it was actually better that way so he had a lot of time for each lecture. He writes really good notes, and he never tried to "trick" us on tests like some math professors do.
A great professor, who gives you many options to earn extra credit and most likely pass the class. He explains everything well and doesn't mind answering questions, so don't be afraid to ask questions.
James was a great professor. His lectures are the best thing out of his course, he finds a way to make them instructive yet entertaining. He gives extra credit on the form of daily quizzes that will help you know what to expect in the exams.
I took his took online class. He doesn't answer emails and throws in questions not even related to the lessons.
He doesn't even do anything to teach the class. He just tells you to work through the course program while he sits back and doesn't even respond to emails. The online course program he replaces himself with is also inefficient. The explanations are hard to understand and mistakes aren't tolerated.
Don't even think about emailing him. You'll get no reply. He doesn't care to explain anything.
Professor Lee is willing to help you when you ask and very kind. The final is 35% of your overall grade and your midterm is 25% of it. They are both proctored at the testing center. I am by no means even decent at math. He gives clear study guides and solutions for the study guides showing you how to complete the problems.
He's super nice... But he really doesn't do much teaching. I took his 127 online class and it was just YouTube videos and the program he used for hw was infuriating. Definitely not the worst though!! I'd prefer him over an instructor with an accent you can't understand.
Okay so I am taking this professor for a 4 week online summer class . Homework is a lot to do in a week but with time management its super easy . Even though its online Professor Lee is so accommodating and such a sweet soul. Very helpful . Very quick responder to emails . Material is very easy just study and you pass . Highly recommend him .
An incredible professor who makes the material easy to understand.
I took Professor Lee online, and I had to teach myself how to do most problems using the textbook. I would sometimes email him questions regarding a problem and he would not respond. It was not too difficult of a class, but I wish I would have taken math 126 in person. Im sure hes a great Professor in person, but online hes decent.
Professor Lee was very favorable for a math class, especially if math isn't your thing. His lectures were super easy to understand and to follow along. Even if you miss a class, the syllabus told you which lesson he was going over and the book was easy to read and explained the lesson well. The book was also an online pdf posted in canvas.
Professor Lee is an excellent teacher! He never makes you feel stupid for asking questions and is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure the entire class understands the material. I love the way he explained things and was so thorough with breaking everything down on the board. He is one of the good ones! Take him!
I have never been so lost in a class before. He does lectures that go over the very surface of topics, and then the homework is harder, and the tests cover types of questions that we never even covered. He is nice, doesn't call on students, and will answer any questions you have, but you will have to spend a lot of time teaching yourself.
LEGIT REVIEW HERE!!! Sure, it was an online class and he did provide great instructional videos for difficult questions in every topic covered through Mastery. Before Covid-19, math exams were to be taken in the testing center and he forbids any electronic device - INCLUDING ANY calculator. Yes, TI-30X IIS as well. Good luck passing exams.
I took his Math 127 class. It was 30% HW & 70% split between 2 midterms and a final. If you do the homework and put the time in you will be fine! Sometimes KNEWTON is confusing, but the professor posts weekly lectures & the way he explains it makes so much more sense than the online software. He is willing to answer any questions by video!!!
Best math teacher I've had since middle school. Explained things well, the 3rd party he uses for online homework is knewton, it costs $10 a month and tells you why you get answers wrong and then provides instruction. Prof. Lee explained things thoroughly and was very helpful. He replied to my emails very quickly. Records meetings for reference.
Great class! Not the best at math but 6wk was not hard. There was a lot of hw for class but did not affect my grade as much as I liked. Records lectures so you can refer back to them. Lee provided free txtbk. Used knewton for hw. It was unlike MyMathLab but better (& cheaper, $10/month). The program explained why u were wrong and gave instructions!
i had to take 126 Extended and it goes way too fast. i struggle w math and barely passed. best math teacher ive ever had but he would spend sm time on simpler concepts that he run out of time for harder ones on practice sheets but that would mean wed get to take home quiz so ig its win lose. never used required textbook. 2 HW due every week.
Really good. Explained everything and was really great at it. Lots if quizzes and only had a couple of tests too and thats it. Really great Professor tho.
I never met prof. Lee because it was all online. It was a mostly self-taught course on ALEKS. Overall though, this course was set up well. The tests reflected the homework well. He had projects which is a clever way to assess your skill in this course, and the final exam was fair. He was willing to answer any questions I had. Solid online prof.
If you struggle in Math - Professor Lee is the way to go! He is very engaged with his students, explains the processes used in various ways so you can learn. He is very receptive to questions, allows you to work in groups on everything except Exams. He responds quickly to emails and provides great YouTube tutorial links in the HW he assigns.
Took 124 E! I would take this professor 10x over. Amazing teacher helpful and if you do the work you def will pass the class. He helped me understand material. Do the hw and you'll pass all I needed for my final was a 32 to pass the class with a c. Very easy going professor.
Took this class as a nursing program pre-req. I was a little worried about taking statistics again as I had taken it in the past and failed. Taking it online was much easier. you work on lessons on your time just need to be turned in Monday at 11:59 pm. professor was easy to reach and answer questions when help was needed.
He is a good teacher and lectures well, but if you want a good grade every in class counts. You ask for help he will help but if you need to email him, he will not answer. Doesn't really care about anything that happens outside, could get sick and still need to turn in everything, and will not curve or give you a chance to turn in stuff. ok teacher
Great guy and highly recommend taking his class, cares for his students and is quick to help over the semester even if it was online.
Mainly just a self-taught course with a couple "projects" and tests. When it comes to receiving your grade on the projects, it takes a few weeks for him to grade it.
Professor Lee is great! He is always ready to help through email and during his office hours. This online class consisted of 2 quizzes and homework assignments every week and one final exam for the week of school. Lee is very understanding and patient. I do recommend studying, asking questions, and keeping up with the assignments, it all piles up.
As long as you do the work, you will be fine. Make sure to give yourself time to study because the quiz comes right after each section. Attendance is not mandatory, but like any other class, make sure you do the work. If any extra credit is offered, make sure to DO THEM. He is the best teacher I had so far!
I've never been good at math, but for me to enjoy this math class although I'd struggle says a lot. This professor goes really in-depth with explaining questions in a really understandable way and I'd say that it was fairly easy to get access to help after class if I didn't understand a topic or through email! I would take him definitely again!!!
This class was well-paced and taught well. Myopenmath is used to do homework, and most problems have a video that can be viewed to help. Make sure to keep up with your work since assignments are due every Monday and Thursday and each section has a quiz. There are two large projects due toward the end, and the final is in person. Extra credit also.
Highly recommend if you struggle with Math. Professor Lee is an amazing teacher- helped me believe in myself and overcome my fear of math. Quizzes are given at the beginning of every class but students are allowed to choose a partner to work with on the quizzes! Extra credit options are available so take advantage when its offered.
Like other students have said, if you have trouble with math, Professor Lee will change that. He is the epitome of what a teacher should be. Helpful, patient, dedicated, respectful, smart, passionate. Everybody should take his classes.
Professor Lee was very nice and made the content understandable. He is understanding and will help you if you have trouble with the content or are unable to access the class materials. There is group work in the class, but it is not mandatory.
He, used a lot of energy when lecturing and was very helpful his grading was fair and reasonable good professional attitude I would take his class again
I swear to god the BEST professor EVER in whole world. He definitely does care a lot about his students and always does his best for his students. I would like to give him 100 stars. If you have a chance, take this professor's class no matter what. You will never regret it.
9 objectives just lecture and practice problems can work on until you get 100% which was nice because it prepares you for the exams. 3 exams total which is similar to hw only worded differently, it helped me to have examples from the hw since there's different formulas. Exams ok but graded by comp sometimes wrong if you don't round or round on occ.
Pretty laid back and friendly professor who's passionate about what he teaches. His curriculum is pretty straightforward and he's always more than willing to help out if you're having issues with the material. Would absolutely recommend him for an easy credit.
Genuinely the best professor i've taken at CSN!! Math isn't my strongest subject but I finally understood Pre-Calculus after taking Professor Lees class! Would recommend 100%.
Class isn't hard but if you don't do great on the exam, forget it. I had a 95% the whole semester and I'm not the best with exams so I failed the final exam (The final exam is only 14 questions). It didn't matter to him that I did great on everything else, the final exam only matters. The final exam grade will determine if you fail or pass.
His lectures were nothing short of easy to understand. I've been struggling with math for years and I finally could understand everything. Make sure to do the homework and ask questions to get a clearer understanding, he's very kind and helpful! TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU WANT TO PASS!!!
Best professor ever !!! If you need to take math classes check to see if he's teaching. Truly made me enjoy math
Lee was a good teacher but how his assignments and tests were waited was a bit frustrating. The 3 chapter tests are worth 45% of your grade, final 10%, homework 10%, projects 10%, chapter quizzes at the beginning of every class worth 10% as well. I would study hard for the tests and make sure you buy a calc. overall good teacher.
He's my goat.
Very good teacher, posts notes for every lesson, there are 1-2 homeworks per lesson plus a 5-10 question quiz. Quizzes are long tho and each question has 3-4 parts. Quizzes have to be done on paper and submitted through canvas. 4 Big projects, no test. Final is inperson at the end of semester. Overall pretty easy, math is black and white. thumbs up
Professor Lee was a great professor to have for my first college math class. I was super worried about not being able to pass math online, but he made it so easy to understand and learn. The lecture notes were super helpful and everything was extremely straightforward. He was super nice when I went to take my final. CHOOSE HIM!!! I'm happy I did.
Professor Lee was overall great at teaching. He'll stop to answer questions if you have them. There are quizzes every morning in class, and a homework assignment after every lesson. Three exams that add up to 45% of your grade and a final that's worth 25%. He's a pretty tough grader, but if you study and complete the homework, it's easy.
For an online math class, I was worried, but Professor Lee was straight forward and his study guides really help! The book is straight forward and correlate to each lesson of the week. Wasn't HW heavy and the final is not overwhelming. Ask questions if you're not sure and you'll be fine! Instruction videos were helpful too. Would recommend!
Even though I took him online, let me tell you he is the best math teacher. Take him. He is so kind; not only does he offer extra credit, but he also replies to emails quickly. As long as you do your work, you will do well. He truly makes math more enjoyable.
Prof. Lee was a very helpful professor. He was always willing to go over material again and explain it thoroughly. He was really helpful when it came to missing class and sending notes especially since i had health troubles. Just make sure to communicate with him if you need extra help!
Easy class if your good online. Personally im not good learning online but even so he made math simple and easy.
