this guy kicks @$$, he's so funny, and he's nice
militant fundamentalist MLA zealot. don't take this professor if you posess an ounce of creativity.
He does not allow you to learn. Very dictatorial in his teaching. Does not help you and will not listen to anyone's opinion but his own.
as boring as anything... goes on and on about nothing. worst class EVER
Mr. Leonard doesn't grade papers on creativity or content. He takes points off for grammer and careless mistakes. Made my freshman year a misery.
This guy is terrible!!!!!!! Always talking about his cats. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!
Easy teacher. He's kinda boring, and doesn't make eye contact when talking one on one if you know what i mean. Take him if you like to doodle!
WORST TEACHER EVER. AVOID THIS FREAK.
Easy class... Went to every class stoned and passed with a B... Doesn't get any easier than that
This guy really takes in the but literally! Worst teacher in the world!Once again takes in the butt. This class and teacher both blow, if you want to fail, take this class. Oh and if you do take this class, tell him your homofobic and you hate cats.
He is so GREAT!!! He make teaching fun and not just boring! I can't believe others did not seem to like him, they must have had grammer problems, that is why he corrected them... HELLO English teacher!!! Trust me the teacher is off the chain!!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! this guy is a terrible teacher. I knew more going into this class than coming out. I learned zero things the entire semester, and struggled to get a C... I spent time on every paper, and still got C's. this guy just doesnt get it
You want the truth?well lets see.. all he does is talk about his cats, he talks just like Mr. Macky from South Park (um ok)I really could go on and on about him, but to wrap it all up.. DONT TAKE HIM!!
its an easy class and he lets you miss alot of days you dont do much work and he lets you do a lot of group work hes a little fruity but a cool guy
He's an awsome teacher, he may be a little fruity but he's mad cool and funny. His grading is kinda tough, I got all Bs on my essays but only cause of spelling and puncuations, he's tough on that. Overall I'd recommend him.
i thought he was****when i started his class but he is very fruity any how i found that he grades his grammar tough. i thought i would get a "b" but i got a lousy "C" on his class. came out of the class not knowing much about grammar
Mr. Leonard is a great English teacher. He is pretty strict about grading but its only to better us. If you want to get off topic ask him how the sales are at Publix, that will give you at least 20 min of no English. I learned most of the things in 3rd gr
His teaching was clear and he was an easy grader. He likes to talk about his cats but besides that I recommend him for enc 1102.
Worst teacher, lies, and doesn't let you make-up work when absent...He talks about his inappropriate life depressions..he is so boring, and is very strict on attendance. He needs to be more flexible, you will end up failing if you miss a major assignment
Mr Leonard is easy to get along with if you just show him respect. If your absent a lot with no excuse, dont expect pity. He is leniant as long as you follow up on your work. His class can be boring at times, but he has an amusing personality.
Mr Leonard has random outbursts in class and yells at you when you do the same. He speaks inappropriately of his life and his cats. We have learned more about nonsense than we have cpmposition. He is very strange and I do not recommend him.
Nice Teacher and he makes you laugh ALOT! ya, he talks about his cats but he is pretty cool. He gives you work and expects the best from each assignment. I would reccomend him but you have to keep up with your work and you should be fine. I'm taking him for Comp 2 next semester.
He is a really good teacher. He talks about his life a lot but brings things of interest to the class. His assignments made sense and I had interest in them. I would def recommend him!
He's a very sweet teacher who listens to you, he's very respectful to people; although he talks about his life a lot still it makes it interesting in the class. A great teacher!
Mr. Leonard is a great teacher, those that say he is not, probably missed too many classes or didnt keep up with their work. He is very respectful. He's also encouraging. Yes he talks about his cats alittle, but that makes the class interesting. He's very funny.I would definately take him again.
This guy is seriously so funny. He reminds me of a character Will Farrel would play. He appreciates promptness and will get majorly ticked if he doesn't get it. Class sometimes gets boring. If you do the extra credit projects, have good attendance, and turn everything in on time you should pass.
Mr. Leonard was a great teacher. really funny, but in a weird physco kinda way. LOVES cats..get him one and you'll be his best friend. Just do your work, don't be late all the time and don't talk alot in class and hes cool. very flexable w/hw dates and makeup work/tests.
Is really a great professor, listens to students, talk bout his cats alot, which strangly adds humor 2the classroom, along with really caring about students and seeing them do well,i could take him again, class is not 2 easy but its way fun 2 come 2 class for his"flamboient"ways which is perfectly kool
Great class, Prof. Leonard is hysterical!! Very helpful, has office hours and helped me become a better writer and get an A. Interesting personal style, he's professional, his discussions are interesting and very funny. Nice person. Don't be late, do the work, quizzes are based upon readings.
Very organized, easy A if you can write papers in your sleep.
Horrible. Wanted to kill my self every mon. and wed.
This professor is ridiculous! Class itself isn't hard at all but he makes it that way. He definitely picks favorites and don't make him mad or he'll ignore you the rest of the semester. Thank god I don't have to hear any of his stories anymore!
its an average english class, lots of essays, no tests. average amount of homework. professor is a huge nerd, but its accually realy funny. fair attendance policy as well.
Extremely weird man. Every time I came to class I felt like I was in Kindergarten. He had the nerve to teach our class the "correct" way to highlight, showing us the "wrong" way (as if it were an illustration in a story book). If you don't heed my warning, you'll know exactly what I mean.
This teacher is outstanding. This is the easiest work any person could ask for. Without even trying I received an A in his class. You have to be crazy not to take this professor. He does dress weird and is a stickler on attendance. Awesome!!!
This class was very easy but lots of reading and writing.
What a joke! The class isn't hard at all but if I had to listen to him one more day I think i would've cried. Please save yourself the agony!!
LOVED taking his class!! If you do your work, you'll do great! Will take him for comp2

This teacher is a JERK! I had surgury and missed 2 days of his class, later on in the semester I was sick and he automatically withdrew me....
This class was not diffcult it takes you the basics of writing essays. You will have to write a total of six essays. No test just quizes and activites almost daily in class. The professor was nice and helpful. Make sure that you do not miss more than two classes otherwise he will withdraw you from the class.
Here's the basics. This is pretty much 7th grade english. If you do not like english or find it difficult, he is great. Its a simple class, 6 essays, very boring, all compare and contrast, nothing challenging here. No homework, but you read two stories for each class. He's nice and a little odd. Not for those who love to write...
funny and easy class
Worst teacher I've ever had. Not recommended.
This class was not educational, and extremely boring, The teacher is queer, and gives useless lectures. His grading system is unfair. He grades essays purely on format, punctuation, and grammar. This class only limits your writing skills, and is the best way to start hating english.
Very nice and amusing professor. Quizzes and activities are not difficult if you just show up for class and do the small amount of reading required. Grading is fair. 6 essays to write but nothing too difficult. I enjoyed the class.
Nice teacher but a bit crazy! He grades essays with super hard standards but does give eassy quizes you cant really slack off in this class its an okay class but takes a large amount of work!
WORST TEACHER EVER!! dont take him if you have the choice.I wasnt suppose to have him as my professor but the other 1 didnt show up and i was stuck with him!! Harsh grading on papers!! lots and lots of reading..so QUEER!!(really)talks about marriage and love not english! soooo boring!!!
He is soo monotone. I liked him because he had that nerdy sense of humor and you just kinda have to laugh at his jokes. Hard grader. Quizzes were easy if you read what he tells you. But you better have exquisit grammar skills or it will show in your grade. If you have another choice of a prof, then take it.
Leonard reminds me of the teacher on South Park. He has a voice like the guy on the "Clear Eyes" commercial. The only thing that kept me dropping his class was it was SOOOO EASY! Besides the 6 papers that are required you have little petty in class assignments and quizzes that just pump your grade up. score average on the essays and u will get an "A"
The homework was pretty easy. There were only a few papers, which were very simple. He was VERY organized and repeated himself a lot. Class was dull, but easy. Just turn in your work, pass the midterm, and show up for class, and you'll pass!
I don't understand how anyone can bash this professor. He tries to break everything down so that even the idiots can understand. If you ask for help, he is happy to make time for you. Gee, I can't imagine why an English professor would care about grammar?!?! DUH! That's what you're in college for. He wasn't any harder than my ENC1102 professor.
this teacher is a little out there but still keep the class interesting... he grades a little wierd but the class is fairly easy
Easy class, only because of his extra credit and quizes. However, He was a horrible teacher. I never understood what he was really asking for in quizes or in papers. He is a grammer nazi and, on top of that, is a snob about it.
The work is easy; however, he grades very harshly on every single eassy you write. Your grade is primarly based on your eassy's, so write well and you will do fine.
I enjoy Mr. Leonard's class. Not only am I learning alot about how to write, but the hour and 15 minutes of class goes by very quick because we go from discussions to assignments to more discussions. He is also very humorous and doesn't seem to let alot bother him.
I have taken him twice, was withdrawn the first time for attendance. so make sure you don't miss more than three days. Took him again for ENC 1102. AWESOME TEACHER! he cracks me up. the class is pretty easy. he is very efficient. critical in grading but pushes you to be better at it. he really is such a good teacher, and very funny. Def. Recommend
Good teacher. Funny in his own way. Very nice/easy work. He grades the essays a little hard. Quizes I get 10/10 everytime. no reading. thank god. good guy. take him.
Oh my gosh he's so ridiculous and a grammar nazi. I am not an strong writer but he is extremely unhelpful to help students when they need it. He just lookS for every mistake even ONE comma IN THE WRONG PLACE AND HE TOOK ME 5 POINTS off !!! HE IS JUST ANNOYING DON'T TAKE HIM IT IS JUST WASTE YOUR TIME and $$$.
The teachers is a joke. He is crazy about attendance, but the quizzes he gives can be figured out on the spot. I never had to read anything. He's not smart enough to get what i assume most people used in there essays. He's homosexual, so I guess if you have a problem with that you might want to avoid him, otherwise easy a if your not stupid.
THIS CLASS WAS EXTREMELY EASY BUT THE TEACHER IS WEIRD. I THOUGHT HE WAS A BIT RETARDED, BUT THE CLASS ITSELF IS MEGA BORING.I COULD ONLY TAKE HIM FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME LIKE A SUMMER TERM OF 6 WKS. HE GRADES ESSAYS VERY CRITICALLY SO DO YOUR BEST ON THOSE. OTHERWISE VERY EASY.
Pretty easy, can be a little over-critical on essays. But his in-class demeanor is soooo funny to watch. I've taken him for Comp. 1 and Comp. 2. He is very quirky and most of it I figured out after I learned he was gay (Now that I think about it I should have guessed waaaay earlier) but he's not really flamboyant or anything, just funny. 10/10
Teacher is funny and jokes around a lot. Basically there are two papers to write and hw is reading a short story and taking a quiz at the beginning of the next class. Pretty easy as long as you do the hw.
Easy class, just boring. He runs out of things to talk about or teach so he just prolongs things to take up time. Never lets you leave early instead. Class work and homework is easy. Essays are hard. No Tests. He hasn't come out and said he was gay but we all know he is. He def gives the guys better grades for it too. But nice guy!
His classes are so boring. He expects so much of the students, but he does not give the best.
ENC 1&2.Good teacher. Easy work. JUST REALLY BORING at times. I would deff take him again due to the work being nice and easy, if you don't like losts of essays then don't take him, but I like to write so it was ok.
Mr leonard is a pretty good teacher when i am able to stay awake. he is extremely boring but his class is so easy as long as you do the assigned readings before class. he gives a quiz everyday that are the easiest things in the world. simple class just veryyyyyy boring.
This class is not an easy A, you have to do the work to earn the grade. I think he is approachable, he evens offers to proof read your essays before they are due so you can make any corrections. I think that is a plus. Has office hours and answers your emails. I will take him for ENC II.
Did not like the class; incredibly boring. He talked very slow and constantly repeated himself. Strict about attendance and there were lots of quizzes.
The class has its own pace. There are quizzes every so often, sometimes pop quizzes. They are generally easy, as long as you did your homework which is also generally easy. There isnt too much reading, it's more grammar and essays. A bunch of essays but with easy topics, so not too bad, overall. Oh and he has the dryest sense of humor.
Not a very exciting class at all. The teacher constantly gives quizzez, but they are easy. He has a strict homework and attendance policy. Overall, I was glad to get the credit out of the way.
Recommend. Very nice teacher. The class is pretty easy but sometimes gets a little boring. Textbook is used for you to prepare for quizzes. You just read it and take a short quiz the following class. Lets you turn in one essay late no penalty.
He is a good professor. Pretty easy just do the quizzes and 3 short papers and you'll be fine!
Professor James K. Leonard is a funny and nice instructor and gentlemen. He prepares is students well for Freshman Composition II by teaching and illustrating proper writing skills which he makes it easy and enjoyable to understand by his teaching style. He is definitely a professional person that cares about his students succeeding.
Class is easy. Professor Leonard is a very nice man. He likes to laugh at his own jokes but he is a great english teacher. Class has 15 five question quizes, 3 essays, and to exams. He gives you alot of time to do the essays and he will let you turn them in for proof reading. Great teacher I would take him again if I needed another english class.
Please take James Leonard for any english class. Assignments are easy because he gives you enough time to finish them. He likes to make light of any situation. Odd but funny sense of humor. He'll like you more if you participate in class. Good Luck!
Professor James K. Leonard is awesome. In this class, we had three essays, two test, and about fifteen quizes total. I enjoy his teaching style. I did not pass Comp II the first time and was wishing to take him for my second attempt. I looked up classes to take for the fall and my wish came true. Wonderful English teacher, probably one of the best.
13 Quizzes almost one every other day (2 are bonus and replace your lower 2 test grades). Teacher goes over the story or poem. 2 Essays with plenty of time between them. Exams either short response or essay length.
This professor isnt so great. The way he talks down to people is really annoying and I definitely wont take him again. He assigns essays but he doesnt explain how to write them until the class before they are due. Also, you will spend 1/2 of each class period watching car commercials on youtube. His teaching method is boring and not very effective.
I would recommend this class for anybody who wants an easy A. He is a little weird, and uses funny yet annonying hand gestures and shows you tube videos all the time in class... but like i said overall easy A.
Great and easy teacher. 4 papers total. Will read and review your paper before it's due to make sure it is free of errors. A few quizzes, which aren't hard if you have paid attention and know the material. Nice guy too. Makes corny jokes, but they are still quite funny. Recommended you take him.
Professor Leonard is a cool teacher. He is funny when he tries to make jokes and Polite. His class is easy. You do a lot of quizzes but if you read the material and/or bring the text book in class, you can pass it. Essays are easy (but always turn one in!) i recommend him to any and every student.
I loved Professor Leonard. If you come to class and read the material (Bring your book) you will do awesome in his class. He is helpful and clear with what he wants you to do. He is a bit of an easy A, but you can't just write fluff, he will read every word of your essays. If you get a bad grade on a paper its because you really can't write.
Great professor. 4 papers to write, he is fair on grading. Read book, he does test you on it.
This class was by far the easiest english class I've taken. You have a short story to read maybe once a week and an easy 5 question quiz on it. 2 papers and he explains how to write each of them and gives you examples. Prof. Leonard is funny and just listening to his comments make you laugh. Very strict on follwing his policies in his syllabus.
He's very clear on everything he explains. No tests. 4-5 essays which he takes off major points for grammar and spelling. One quiz every week and he emails you the study guide explaining everything in detail. Very easy teacher as long as you pay attention and don't pack up before the class ends.
Mr. Leonard is a really great teacher! No tests, and he gives a quiz every week. Sometimes they're open book, sometimes they can be taken home, and sometimes theyre in class. he gives a study guide before the quiz which pretty much makes it easy. overall, really easy and good teacher. hes also really funny (:
I took Professor Leonard for English Comp I. You take 10 quizzes, all 5 questions. You do 3 website evaluations (really easy). You write 5 papers, and one is on the first day of class and doesn't really count. He is really easy albeit boring, but I would still recommend him.
I've now completed my first year at VC, and Prof Leonard's class is my favorite by far. He may come off as a little strange at first, but he makes the class so much fun. The work load is fairly easy: about 8 quizzes, 6 HW assignment, and 4 papers. Highly recommended for any Comp class!
I took professor for ENC1101, and although he is a bit strange his class was super easy. If you want an easy A, take his class. Easy workload, no tests or final. Just quizzes( 5 questions each) and essays which he grades relatively easy.
VERY clear instructions on what is required throughout the course. SO HILARIOUS! Be prepared for entertainment. Everything he did was necessary & helpful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Very strict when it comes to attendance and tardies/late work. He repeats himself a lot, but he's just trying to be helpful! He grades the heck out of an essay, but he allows you to give him drafts in person to make sure you're going down the right path! He's hilarious and I have to admit I'll miss him, but I have to move FORWARD!
I loved Professor Leonard! He is a little out there, but that's what made class fun. Like others have said, he is very strict when it comes to attendance, tardies and late work (He doesn't accept it if it's late), but he will give you all the tools you need to make a good grade. Ask him for examples of what he's looking for & have him review yours.
I don't recommend taking his class. It was very boring, and did not learn much from his class. His course is easy to pass. 10 easy quizes, 10 literature activities, 3 essay papers. Hard grader on essays.
Prof. Leonard is very good at what he does, & has a very quirky sense of humor. With that being said, this is one of the most miserable classes I've ever taken. The coursework isn't overwhelming, but the class itself is just SO dry & boring. Very strict w/grading essays. He's head of the ENG dept., so it's hard to schedule a time to meet with him.
Professor Leonard was a very different teacher then most. His classes were very long and I didn't learn much at all. he was pretty easy though. he had 4 papers all very easy, no longer then 3-4 pages. a lot of kids didn't like him and got in arguments because of some of the assignments. there is a 5 question quiz before every class.
Great class. I learned a lot and really enjoyed the class itself. He let's you know exactly what he expects and makes himself very available to students. Super organized and really knows his subject. Essays aren't easy but they aren't difficult either if you follow his direction.
Prof. Leonard was helpful and kind with the class despite several students that acted up nearly the entire time. There were a lot of group activities that kept things interesting, and I think I'll be taking him for my next English class.
i had a one day class so i was in there for 2 12 hours ! He is pretty boring ! There was a quiz every week! QUIZZES ARE 5 QUESTIONS! REVIEW STUDY GUIDES! No Homework ! Maybe 4 or 5 essays for the semester ! But essays are not required to be long at all! 2-3 pages minimum 4 page MAX! PLUS DOUBLE SPACED! Takes FOREVER to gradework! BUT EASY!
He's a great teacher. His jokes are corny, but he's genuinely there for his students and tries to make the class time enjoyable. But if he's not letting you out early (which he does occasionally) he's using the entire class period. Miss 3 classes and lose 5 points on final, so go to the class periods.
I absolutly loved him! This was my favorite class this semester and I hate english. He tells you exactly what needs to be done to get an A and is always there to help. I wish he could teach all of my classes
Slightly odd, but he can be very funny. Professional and direct, it appears he hones the lessons for individual classes once he gets a good understanding of where everyone sits in terms of their understanding of English. Three essays, twelve quizzes and assignments, and he provides extra credit at the end of the term to make up for any missed work.
He is so annoying. Does not specify anything. DO NOT TAKE HIM. He gives attitude, calls his students "retarded (Leonard 2015). His class is for those who love writing. I do not. I hate him. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
His sense of humor isn't for everyone but I thought he was pretty funny. He let's you know exactly what he expects and what is required throughout the course. Essays aren't easy but they aren't difficult either if you follow his direction. Not a lot of HW and class work is very easy if you pay attention, he provides extra credit towards the end.
If you like to have your hand held and be walked through everything like you're in elementary school, take him. If you like to be talked to like an adult, DO NOT TAKE HIM. I can not stand his teaching style, personally. I didn't sign up for his class, he took over mine. I will say it is an easy A as long as you do the work.
Would not take this class again. He treats you like you are in first grade and acts like you are stupid. He is very annoying and i highly recommend not taking his class.
Professor Leonard's humor is very dry and often in poor taste. His essays are easy but he grades harshly so minor mistakes cost you major points which is frustrating. The class is very slow paced and his teaching style is slow and methodical; so, you never miss any information. Would not recommend due to his lack of conviction in teaching.
Mr. Leonard is HILARIOUS. He has a very sarcastic, but not rude, sense of humor. His class is super easy, but i've definitely learned. We have 10 point classwork grades that we are assigned on most days that are easy to do. 4 essay's per semester that cannot exceed 4 pages but be less than 2. He also posts exactly what's expected on blackboard.
Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Mostly class work and just simple essays. Not hard at all. Just hand in assignments on time. He doesn't like the use cell phones so he just kind of nags you to put it away if he sees you on it.
I have to say, this is the easiest English I have ever taken. No mid-term, no test, 3 essays, simple idiot-proof quizzes and one final exam. All you have to do is read the material critically and understand basic grammar and you'll get that A with flying colors. His sense of humor is an acquire taste, but honestly I enjoyed his bold humor.
I have never had a teacher that so clearly asked for exactly what he wanted before. It was very refreshing. HOWEVER, it was hard for me to write in the style he prefers, which is very formulaic. If you are a creative, free-writer you will have trouble too. I got B's on all my essays but luckily still got an A because the quizzes were so easy.
Mr. Leonard is a wonderful teacher! He's not too tough of a grader and will help you whenever you need it. I highly recommend him!
Professor Leonard was the nicest english professor I've encountered. It took me quite a while to understand but he was more than willing to take a step back and help you out with whatever you were struggling with. He's very meticulous but to a point that's helpful rather than hurtful. Not alot of homework but he does give out several short quizzes.
He's not a bad person, but he doesn't talk to you like an adult. Lectures go on forever and it's all review from ENC1101. All assignments are quizzes and essays so if you miss one, your grade suffers immensely. He takes forever to respond to e-mails, super harsh grader, avoid him if you can.
Professor Leonard is the G.O.A.T. Out of all the English teachers i have received, he is the best, most caring and easiest to talk too.
he is a really good teacher if you want to have things explained to you in details and slowly, his class is really easy it is basic material that you already learned in high school. The essays were essay. The assignments were easy
Professor Leonard, in my opinion, makes the class seem easy but grades harsher than most. He honestly treats college students like kindergardeners, making it seem like he's there to help you, then nit picks every minor detail that is wrong about your work. Don't let his upbeat and charismatic personality fool you.
He was a great source of knowledge and is always willing to help. Most of the classes were us examining documents and examples of where to find certain concepts he provided to us, which was kind of boring sometimes, but beneficial.
Prof Leonard is a super nice and funny guy, he is always there to help if you need it. A little picky on grading essays but his quizzes are super easy and also gives extra credit! He tells cheesy jokes every now and then but I find them hilarious. Take him!
Pretty good professor. I like the way he teach because it is very organized and easy to understand. Really funny, and always ready to help. The only thing I didn't like about the class is that the quizzes are at home, I personally prefer taking the quizzes at home because that way I don't forget about it;however, quizzes are easy. Picky with essay.
Absolutely delightful teacher. He is always there to help you out and provides excellent feedback on essays. Seems like he cares about his students and wants them to succeed. I have learned a lot from him about writing essays better and even new vocab. 10/10 would take again. Great guy super nice.
A little boring but he likes to make the class laugh and have fun while learning. He's very clear about the way he wants things done and nothing is hard about this class at all. If you listen to him during class, all of the take home quizzes should be a breeze. (yes all of the tests are take home tests!!!)
Prfesor Leonard is very charismatic in my opinion. The quizzes are at home. All the work must be printed and turned in. The subjects of the Class are hevy; however, he will always joke to make the Class more interesting. He is a tough grader with the essays, but he gives an excellent feedback. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HIM.
(first off English is my favorite subject) I took this class and of course checked rate my professor before hand, however don't let the comments fool you. He is very awkward and makes you feel uncomfortable, he talks like your his kindergarten class , and he drags out his lectures, this is by far the worst class I have ever taken at Valencia.
Professor Leonard is hilarious. Truly one of the funniest professors I've ever had. All you will do is take 5 question quizzes on stories in the book that are really easy. He gives us 4 essays to do throughout the course. The only thing about him is that he grades EXTREMELY hard on the essays. Just put effort in and you'll do fine, he's a gem.
After taking 1102 with a terrible professor I feel as though its only right to come back and share the fact that I took professor Leonard for granted. Ive never had a professor make a class so easy to succeed in. He gives you all the tools you need if you pay attention. Yeah he lectures and makes dad jokes but trust me hes a Good choice for 1101.
Engaging class. He is a friendly guy but also a tough grader so be ready to work. There are 4 major essays and tons of small quizzes that will help your grade. If you don't miss any of the quizzes, the last 2 will count as extra credit.
Professor Leonard is one of the best professors Ive ever had. I loved him so much I took him for 1101 and 1102. His lectures are engaging and hes such a sweet guy. Theres 10 mostly at home quizes that are super easy and will help your grade. Yes their are some essays, just like in all English classes but he gives you tons of resources and help!
I enjoyed his class, it was entertaining and made the time go by fast. He does grade hard at times but also gives you all the information and help you need to succeed. Basically if you fail or have issues its your own fault, you're the problem not the professor.
Honestly wasnt a bad class. The assignments were explanatory and easy only a couple questions off of a poem or reading. Had 3 essays 3 page min double spaced off the readings we did assignments on. Doesnt accept late work. But gave two extra credit assignments at end of the semester. Tough grader but as long as you try you can pass the class!
Mr. Leonard is the best English professor you will find. He is always there to help you when in need. Also, his class is not difficult. The assignments are easy. Easy A if you do everything that is required.
I took him for English two and let me tell you, he was an awful grader. He never gives out full marks. The best you will get is a high c or b. Be wary of his condescending manner towards you in comments and emails. I wish I didn't take English with this teacher.
He's loves to nit pick. Although my assignments were always "superb!" , etc.. he NEVER gave me anything above a 89%. If superb work with NO punctuation, grammatical errors or works cited errors, I'd hate to see how he grades those with silly punctuation mistakes. The class isn't hard, but he makes it very hard to get an A, which I think is silly.
Professor Leonard is awesome! The workload isn't heavy. He gives one assignment a week, either an essay or a short activity based on readings from the textbook. If you cannot afford the textbook, Professor Leonard will find a way for you to get the readings if you just ask. He's caring, though he can be a little nitpicky. Lots of feedback though!
Mr. Leonard can be very strict. However, if you communicate with him in a timely manner and respectfully, he is usually willing to work with you. He does give extra credit opportunities and you will probably need it because he is a tough grader. He gives you the chance to send in your papers early for him to review before a final submission.
Professor Leonard is great. Gives out very easy and simple assignments that on average should only take you 20-45 minutes to complete. There are only 3 essays during the semester and while he may grade those pretty harshly, It did benefit my writing. Very understanding and often lets you submit things late. Lots of extra credit opportunities too.
Professor Leonard didn't really make me feel so welcomed in that class. He often was very boring while teaching and went on and on about the same topics, I almost fell asleep a couple of times. His class/home works were very confusing due to unclear instructions and his essay assignments were very difficult as well. No feedback too.
If you are not a hardworking student like me, I would definitely recommend Professor Leonard. He gives really simple homework, and when you turn in the homework within 4 days of the deadline, he doesn't lower your score for late submission. He really does not force you at all and gives very explanatory answers to the questions that you ask him.
Prof. Leonard was definitely the 1/2 toughest courses ive attended at Valencia. He was an overall boring teacher and talked too much further from what we were supposed to learn. His quizzes and essays were a bit much and feedback made no sense. Attendance matters and he is very tough on grading. I suggest to NOT take him for ENC1101.
Professor Leonard is one of my first professors and he is one of my favorites easily. He is very friendly and very social, very open to talk about his life and loves hearing about yours.
Super sweet guy with an overall pretty easy class with topics that I found were decently interesting, he gives back good advice in an understandable way.
*RTV* We are given so many extra credit opportunities. No exams, only 3 essays the semester. He grades well and gives great feedback. He offers times to read your rough draft and only gives a few assignments a week. He answers questions quickly. BUT do not take him if you are not a good writer. He's a strict grader when it comes to essays.
This is a great class to take in between hard classes. He has a lenient grading policy so you can always have time to turn things in. He gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit. I always looked forward to his feedback on the essays (he only gave three this semester) cause it was always constructive and to make you a better writer.
Super nice guy. He can sometimes get off track but he does his best to help students
The syllabus is clear from day one. 4-day grace period to turn in assignments. Available to meet and help students very often. Tons of resources are provided to help with harder assignments. Only 3 major essays with lots of preparation time. Very respectful of names and pronouns. Brings his sense of humor to many activities. Very enjoyable class.
Professor Leonard is an awesome professor! He gives good feedback, he is available to help you with any questions, and gives out a lot of extra credit. There is not a lot of homework, he usually gives 1 easy assignment every week. There are only 3 essays, one is the midterm and another is the final. Great professor, totally recommend him.
In our zoom class, he would always start off with telling us about an upcoming holiday (which was really cool). There was an in class assignment for every meeting, but you work within a group, so it wasn't all that bad. There were three essays total and the last essay was the final. His class was relatively easy, but you do need to put in effort.
The assignments are easy and I was in the mixed mode of class, on the day we would go to class there was an activity we did with the people at our table and it's similar to what we do for homework. You don't have to talk to anyone to do the activity. Attendance isn't mandatory but it's worth points. He gives a good amount of extra credit that helps
Prof Leonard is amazing! I took his class in real time virtual. He explains things in ways that students will be able to understand & grasp. He gives lots of extra credit opportunities. We had 3 essays in total and his assignments are short and easy. For the essays, he prepared us for his expectations and left us so many resources for extra help.
Best class ever. Took real time virtual class for comp 1 and comp 2. Very fun zoom meetings. 1 assignment a week and 1 extra credit every other week. Assignments are short and has many resources to make you successful. 3 essays per term. I would recommend this class and wish i could take more classes with this professor.
Very few and easy assignments, only 3 or so essays required for the class, however the grading did feel very inconsistent and the lectures are sometimes, uncomfortable to sit through.
His "humor" is uncomfortable. His attendance is graded, if you need to leave early he may not count it. Unclear grading. There are 3 essays that determine your grade, he expects you to withdraw if you miss the deadline, regardless of circumstance (even death of a loved one). If you miss an essay the best you can hope for is a C.
Professor Leonard's class is an enjoyable experience. With few assignments and a lenient grading policy, it's a nice break between harder courses. unstuck study and other study tools made essay prep a breeze.
Professor Leonard is one of the best college professors I've had. He's available 24/7 via call, text, or email and provides ample extra credit. The course includes three essays, but grades can be surprising—reach out for guidance. You have four extra days to submit homework without penalties, making his class manageable and supportive.
Prepare yourself for lots of dad jokes. He was very accessible & caring with his students. He was pretty tough when it came to the essays. Always follow the rubric!!! I believe you only had to 3 essays throughout the course. The extra credit. Super easy to do. I'd say take him. I am taking him again :)
He was one of my first college classes last semester. He was very kind and made the class go by pretty fast. He is a pretty tough grader on the essays but if you read the feedback he gives, I'm sure you'll do well on the next essays. You have to do 3 essays throughout the whole semester. Not too bad, imo. You should take him!
I wouldn't recommend him, but he assigns a lot of homework, and it's easy. I really wouldn't recommend, but he does give a lot of homework and essay.
I took Mr. Leonard's ENC1101 class, and I found it to be fun, straightforward, and informative. I had 3 essays due throughout the term, all of them being relatively easy. He did a great job at making sure everyone had their needs met and he took the time to help as much as possible. There's also lots of opportunities for extra credit.
Only 3 essays all pretty easy except pretty tough on the grading, could not get a's on the essays for the life of me.Everything else was super relaxed and the extra credit really helped my bad essays.
A pretty great teacher; the workload isn't too bad, and he's quite nice in class. It mostly consists of discussion-type work, as long as you have a strong suit in writing and grammar, this class should not be the hardest thing
He's genuinely a character lol. Classwork is SO easy and usually only counts as bonus credits (so not actually graded), ngl I missed classes and it never counted against me. One homework assignment weekly that is almost exactly the same as the in-class (again super easy to do like anyone can do it). Take him! Even i'm taking him again next semester
I took him in virtual class and let me say, this dude is really caring. He is always ready to respond to any questions students may have and take's his time explaining things very well. Although, he might be a tough grader sometimes, the extra credit he offers helps you balance that out, which I find refreshing. Overall, super great professor!
Each week there was a short assignment based on the reading and occasionally a quiz. He's very lenient on deadlines. Only complaint was that it was a World Lit course and we did spend the whole course reading Shakespeare's sonnets.
