Mr. Liley took over my astronomy class halfway through the semester when the previous professor got cancer. This is likely why his lectures were not perfectly clear. His tests are not too difficult, though. He is a cool guy, but I recommend reading the book to help understand the material.

Mr. Liley was very good humored showed us lots of examples step by step, always in a good mood, and I actually learned enough to ace College Algebra immediately after his class. Great teacher, good guy, would definitely recommend.

He's awesome. He is very clear, and makes sure that whatever is on the tests, he covers in class. I haven't even had to open my book. Also, you can get A's even if you fail a few tests. He says he's more concerned with making people intersted in Astronomy than making you know the specifics. Just go toa couple observations and you'll pass.

I took Elementry Statistics (telecourse). As long as you communicate with him you will be fine. He was very helpful and I learned in his class. I highly recommend this guy because he will help you as long as you ask for it.

James was the greatest teachers I have had at TCC. If I hadn't already taken Stats, or if he were to teach another class, I would take his class without question. Also, take Astronomy in the fall to attend the OkieTex Star Party. Greatest. Campout. Ever. (Aside from Woodstock, but that's his era) GO FIREFLY!

He is a very cool guy and makes it almost impossible to fail his class! Even if you bomb a test or two he has a ton of extra credit that you can take advantage of. He was always good humored and very interesting to talk to. I would take a class of his again in a heartbeat!

Very easy instructor for Astronomy. Even if you fail the tests, there are handfuls of ways to make it up through extra credit. If you don't have time to always attend class but want an astronomy class, this is the one. Just make sure to do lots of extra credit.

I love Professor Liley. His class is so refreshing and fun. It is awesome to see a teacher that is so excited about a suject and more excited for the student to learn. I honestly wish that there was Astronomy II so I could take him again. He is also pretty cute so that makes class even better. I don't want the semester to end!!

Highly recommend the on-line elementary statistics class. Four exams, that's it. No quizzes, no homework, just the exams. He doesn't count the first 4 or 5 that you miss. Went into the final needing a 57 to keep my A. Video lectures are boring, but went to him a few times for help. He was very helpful! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

GREAT TEACHER! HANDS DOWN!! He is very helpful with anything that you need, even if its for a class thats not his! He gives a take home test and an in class. He will also move the test if it overlaps another big test of yours. Great instructor! Helps with any practice you may need!

Mr. Liley's online stat class is really easy if you can teach yourself. He did not respond to any emails I sent him. He gives you the syllabus that tells you what chapters to study and what dates you can take your tests on. There are 4 tests that have to be taken on the Metro Campus and that is the extent of your grade.

If you can't get an A in 'this' class, there is really something wrong! He points out everything you need to know exactly and even describes how it's used in the real world. I took 5 classes this semester, and he was by far the best one of them all!

He is more than great, he's a REAL instructor. TCC is lucky to have him. But you have to reach out to him if you're having trouble. Not by email, call him on the cell # he provides. If you're like me, you probably don't like calling/texting instructors on their cell... call his office, he answered 95% of the time.

Very fun teacher. Offers an easy-going learning environment. He gets you excited about the material rather than stuffing facts down your throat. All tests included take-home portions and were challenging but do-able with the textbook. Would recommend this course, was more interesting and great for science credit.

Powerpoint after powerpoint. Astronomy is an interesting topic but you have to take the time to read the text.

He's the best. He puts jokes in his materials and wants you to do good! James teaches this class from a realist point of view...not from the genius level that he's clearly sitting at.

Excellent instructor! No homework, just four tests. The first two are a piece of cake, the last two can be difficult but Liley is so knowledgeable about his subject and so good at teaching it, that the last two tests are manageable. Made an A. Highly recommended!

James is a great professor. The Stats class has 4 tests, that's all. Half of the test is take home & you can use it as a study guide. Plus. he gives extra credit points from his tests. I highly recommend taking him in class. His lectures are what makes this subject relatively easy. He is very experienced and only teaches what you need to know.

Great class! I wish every teacher was like this. He takes the material and breaks it down to the point that if you don't understand there's something wrong! He applies it to real world scenarios which keeps it interesting. There are 4 tests and they aren't hard. Need more teachers like James.

Took 8wk online class. Lots of content but not bad if you are disciplined. No quizzes, homework, etc -- just 4 tests and that's it! And 3 of 4 are open book. Really hard not to grasp content and pass if you watch the videos (needs updated), read, work a few probs and study his test guides/probs. Always make himself available if you need help.

Mr. Liley was a phenomenal teacher. He made statistics both interesting and understandable. He breaks everything down so that everyone can fully understand both the concept of the formulas and how they are beneficial to the business world. I thoroughly enjoyed his class and would highly recommend it to everyone.

Extremely boring subject, but he's a funny guy so that helps a lot. He is a great teacher. If you show up to lectures you shouldn't really have to use your book. Makes the subject easy to understand. A portion of each test is take home, and the in class portion resembles that so you know what to work on. Go to the lectures and you'll do fine.

James teaches well, helps in whatever you ask. There are only 4 tests with a take home part for each one. His wording on test questions can be confusing. I suggest never skipping class even though attendance is not mandatory. I would take his class again if I needed to.

Mr Liley is probably the only Math teacher I've come across to teach math like a normal teacher. There's no beating around the bush in questions or tests, its pretty much, "what you learn will be on the test". I'm not good at Math and actually did really well in his class. I highly recommend him to students of all levels.

There are only 4 tests, first three were pretty easy but the final was by far the toughest! Each test has a take home portion which he usually goes over in class. Wording on tests can be very specific. If you have any questions during the test he will give you examples to help clarify. Hate math but thank goodness for the software statdisk!

If you have to take stat take him!! He is very nice and great at teaching. Stat can be very boring, but he helps make it better. There are only 4 test and half of each test is a take home portion, the other half of the test is just like the take home portion. He has books you can borrow, but you most likely won't use them

Best professor I have ever had. I am absolutely terrible at math (I failed college algebra) but James taught Statistics so well that I ended with an A. He explains things clearly and thoroughly, is always available to students, and is willing to help after hours. Don't fret about having to take Stat, he could teach the material to a toddler.

Professor Liley is an excellent teacher. The 4 tests throughout the semester are cumulative and get increasingly difficult. No extra credit or homework assignments, so you are on your own to practice the material. Lectures are long , but he explains everything, provides many examples, encourages questions and crucial for understanding.

Prof. Liley has a very simple Astronomy class style: 4 tests and honors points, for his honors class. All of your grades rely on those tests. The tests are 2 part: a take home and an in class. Study, attend lecture, and score well on the exams and you will succeed in his class

I took the 8 week online class and found it to be enjoyable. Theres only four tests to complete. It does get a little more difficult to understand the material later on, but the professor was always open to meet and discuss grades.

Take him, he's great! He uses power point for his lectures, make it easier to understand. He have sense of (astronomer)humor, and gives out a lot of extra credit. If you try, you will make A from his class.

This class was easy. Liley is very knowledgable and a very understandable teacher. Only problem I had with he gets pretty long winded which got boring and made it difficult to pay attention. If you're good at math his course will be super easy for you, if not take notes and you still shouldn't have a hard time making a good grade.

I took Professor Liley for Statistics. His lectures are straight forward from power points which you will have access to through Blackboard. 4 tests only, no homework but he does suggest the book for practice but the book is not mandatory. Go to the lectures and practice the problems and you will pass. One Bonus opportunity with final exam.

He is very informative. He has a lot to say about it so you know he's passionate. He gives 5 test and research grade that your grade is based on. Death by powerpoint.

Very good professor, truly loves what he does. Allows you to choose your assignments for 50 points worth. You have the option to do up to 200 bonuses points! You dont nexessarily have to attend class, but should just to know test dates.

Super easy summer class. There are only four exams and no other assignments so just study the chapters before the exams. The tests are pretty easy and if you have a question you can just call his number directly and he'll answer right away. He's a good teacher and great at helping out.

Professor Liley is perhaps the best math teacher I had in college. He is super caring, devoted, and just all around super great! He explains things well, gives good reviews and notes, and is laid back yet attentive. On top of this he is super fun to chat with about astronomy, if you are struggling to choose.. professor Liley is the best!

This was an 8-week online Stat class. It is very lecture heavy, but I expected that with it being a short, online class. I took this with Chem online and Dev. Psych, along with working 45 hours a week and still managed to pull an A. It's a lot of work, but doable! He's a great professor!

I took his 16 week Elementary Stats class and I got an A no problem. If you watch every lecture video and take notes it will be way easier. Only 4 tests so little room for error, however he grades with a curve that not all the questions count against you. But if you get them right they will be given as extra credit. 100% would recommend James.

This professor was a JOY to have. He was so understanding and it was a very easy but interesting class. There is very little work to do outside of class and he understands that you likely have a heavy workload in other classes, so he's very lenient with late work and gives you every opportunity for extra credit. Easy A!

He was an awesome professor. He encouraged you to email him or see him during his office hours. The class is difficult... it IS statistics. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you won't pass if you don't go. There are no assignments, your grade is purely based on the four exams. You can pass this class, but you have to pay attention and go to class.

I was not looking forward to this class to say the least; however, it was totally worth it!! Professor James is AWESOME and I don't say that lightly! Great professor! Kind, knowledgable and organized. He works many examples in class and posts review videos for exams. Very manageable workload. My advice is work on the take home portion of the test as he covers the content. The only homework is the take home portion. If you do that and work all the test review example problems you will do great!

His exams are not very difficult if you pay attention to his lectures and go over the study guides. He also provides a take home portion of the exam that you can ask questions.

This guy WANTS YOU TO LEARN! TCC would be a fool to let this guy slip away. He has no problem with answering any of your questions. no issues with staying after class to help. I took this class as an 8-week online class. Professor Liley is very knowledgeable and wants to make sure you learn and understand the material. He can be wordy which means his lectures run long, but by the time you get to the core of the material he has already provided a lot of context which helps the lesson to click. he doesnt give out any homework at all, so be prepared to find practice problems on your own. he does allow you to use your computer for a certain program on tests. he brings his dog to class sometimes and its the best thing ever. you only have 4 tests and those 4 tests are your entire grade. that's literally it.

He is very knowledgable about the subjects and offers plenty of help. However, his video lectures are incredibly long and tend to reiterate some points over and over. It felt like a lot of the stuff on the tests he didn't cover well, and if he did you have to go through 90 minute plus long videos to find it.

Prof. Liley is an old-school math teacher, so no online math lab... thank goodness. No assignments, only 4 exams. Each lecture is about 120ish mins. As long as you actually work through the examples with him in his lectures you'll do great. I took it as an 8-week, so I was watching 6 lectures a week. Make sure you have time for all the lectures.

Professor Liley is truly the greatest professor you could chose for statistics. I enjoyed his class because he is amazing at explaining everything and throws in a few jokes that keep you entertained in the class. I took his 8 week summer course and it was super easy! His tests are fairly easy, just make sure you do the take-home tests and the practice questions and you will be set! I enjoyed his class, and the class was interesting in itself too.

Honestly one of my favorite professors! He clearly cared about his students and his work, and as long as you put in the effort, you did well in the class.

He clearly has an amazing passion for astronomy. As long as you even half pay attention to the lectures you are good to go for the tests. Also, he offers like 300 points of extra credit you can get.

I was worried about taking his class because the only grades he takes are test grades but he makes it to where you can easily pass as long as you try. You get to take home a little less than half the tests and do it before test day and he allows you to use a website during the in-person test that basically gives you most of the answers. 10/10 class

He is an incredible math teacher. I don't think I have ever had a good math teacher before him. His lectures were easy to follow, he gave lots of resources, and he was available for questions anytime. This was my second attempt at statistics, and I chose him based on a recommendation, and I am so glad I did.

This is one of the best professors I've ever had; although I didn't see him in person, his online summer class that I took was excellent. He is great at explaining and giving you the appropriate tools to succeed.

He explained everything very well and is available for any type of questions or help needed. 4 test scores make up your gradel, he doesn't count the first handful you miss. James is a great professor who wants to help his students succeed. Four grades total, all tests, 5% of questions dropped for each test. On the downside, there are very few example problems, but most of the class is straightforward as long as you watch the notes videos. Put them on at 2x speed, and they will go much faster.

his class was so easy to pass. all of his lectures are recorded and posted on blackboard in case you miss a class so there is no excuse. we're graded by few things aka 4 tests. his tests are similar to his ex. in his lectures. he is extremely kind and genuine. 40% of the test is done at home. the rest is in class. he grades exams the same day!

I took this class over the summer, and although it took up A LOT of time, it was worth it. He is thorough with his lecture videos, but he explained and covered everything you need for the four tests, which are your only graded assignments. He is also very accessible and practically begs you to email or call him if you need help.

James is great. His class is very low key. The material is difficult but he doesn't assign homework, you just have a test every other week. It would be nice if his tests were completely online and maybe only one or two of them proctored. If you need help, getting ahold of him is easy and he's very willing to help.

He did not assign homework, instead he has four tests and that's the only source for your grades. He provides a guide and worksheet per test. He gives examples of problems in his lectures and those are posted on BB throughout the classes, so you can rewatch. I find they tend to contain more info too.

Professor Liley is very knowledgeable and caring. He does have very long lectures and can sometimes go on a bit of a tangent. The class overall is straightforward and easy, no homework, 40% of your test is at home. Just take notes and set the videos of 1.5x and you'll be good.

Great teacher, loved taking his class despite being someone who is stuck in 3rd grade math. Material wasn't too hard and he sets you up to pass the class aslong as you put in the work which is only like 2 hours a week max. Note: you don't need the textbook if you just need this class for credit

I took his summer class and lectures were long, he uses the entire class time. There are take home tests which are 40% of your test grade and the in class test is 60%. Long lectures but just put it on 1.75x or 2x speed. Take good notes (What I did): Write examples on one side of your notebook and actual notes on the other. Try to take the "Take-Home test" as much as you can (40% of your grade and is similar to your actual exam - 60%). Only 4 exams make up your grade, but if you actually try, you'll be okay!

I am really, really bad at math but had to take some sort of math class. Professor Liley understands that math isn't everyone's cup of tea and is ready to help and make things easier. The only downfall is that he's kind of a fast lecturer so be prepared to go home and re-watch lecture videos! yes his grades are all test based but he curves them!
