Amazing lecturer, evil death hard class
Hard huh? Nah! I earned a 'B' in ol' Jim's class.
he's evil hard, but if you memorize your notes you'll do fine. study for the quizzes! just go thru the chapters and write out proper names and terms with descriptions. study days in advance for midterm and final, this is not a cram class.

You must study! But he's a nice guy

His class is really hard but you learn a lot. He is an excellent teacher who assumes he has smart students. He clearly tells you what will be on the exams. This class if for a student who is not afraid to work hard.
Just study! He is an excellent teacher that is SO helpful!!! As long as you study, there is no problem!!
He is a very intelligent man. I never really liked history but he made it so real and vivid. His tests are challenging. He will do anything to help his students out and it really shows!
Dr. Martin's class is not for the lazy student looking an easy 'A', but you can make an 'A' if you're willing to work for it. Just make notecards for each chapter to study for the quizzes and notecards from your lecture notes to study for exams.
Dr. Martin is a good teacher who provides excellent notes. While his personality is not the most engaging, he will always be willing to help a student in need. His tests are difficult but fair.

Perhaps the best professor at CU, Dr. Martin communicates the lessons of history with ease and precision. He transcends rote memorization of dates and introduces the student to the timeless concepts and great ideas of western civ. DO NOT MISS HIS CLASS!
hard as crap
Dr. Martin knows and has a passion for history. His class is not for the student looking for an easy A . If you want an A you must work for it. It can be done though.
A great teacher, if you are good at memorizing facts and dates. If you don't study, YOUR SCREWED!!!!!!!!!!!!
And i quote "Not many people earn A's in my class" (From the first day)...if u take him get ready to work harder than you ever have for just a B.
Dr. Martin will ****you off to the point where you cannot stand to look at a history book ever again. He grades harder than any person I have ever seen. Beware of his lazy eye.
I LOVED DR. MARTIN!! As a Freshman, I heard horror stories about him. I thought about dropping him, BUT I AM SO GLAD I DIDN'T!! I would suggest taking him if you get the chance. You'll work hard, but it's totally worth it!!
He is so hard- his tests are all impossible essays: especially the final. In his class it is a struggle just to get a C.
This man lets the DR. in his name go to his head. This man does not at all want you to succeed. So, if your looking for an average grade "C" you need to go elsewhere. An "A" is not in his grading vocabulary.

Tests consist of ambiguous people that make no real difference to real history and essays which he doesn't read, just picks out a page or two and checks for grammar and spelling errors. Just the worst history teacher. Take ANYONE else. He's ridiculous
Terrible teacher. Take anyone else
Dr. Martin is difficult but very fair. To all who say he is a bad prof., you didnt work hard enough. If you keep up with assignments and prepare, you'll get a good grade. Martin cares about his students and you'll learn more than you ever imagined!
I have so much respect for Dr. Martin. For anyone even remotely interested in history, take Martin. You will learn so much.
He makes you read the book and write, but I don't think he expexts too much. You really learn a whole lot. And he doesn't stress dates, which is definately a plus. I recommend him for anyone who isn't lazy.
lectures are very interesting. very amusing teacher. very difficult tests, not for slackers
r. Martin is a really good teacher. Sure, there were times when I thought I could strangle all the work that he'd given, but I have never had a teacher so difficult that I actually learned with. I learned a lot and am taking him again next semester!
Helped me out alot loves to give quizes. If you dont like history or wanna work dont take him
Good Teacher, Hard Class...Learn alot, but expect to do a lot of work! Study a lot, and make a good grade! Sense of humor, and interesting lectures..no way to fall asleep in class (but that is good!). Exams..25-50 ID's, and 3-6 essays (he gives possible essays before exam so you can study them!) :)
study everyday...read the book as soon as you get it if not he wil bring down your gpa
He's a great professor but he's way tough. You'll learn though. If you want an easy time i wouldn't take him ;(
Study, do what he says, and you'll get an A!
You may hear he's hard, but guess what, its only as hard as you make it. He's a great teacher who shows great care for his students. There are no tests, but a midterm and final - and if you do the readings and take down the terms, you'll be fine. He has become one of my fav. professors at Campbell.
Strict and straight! He can be a very good teacher, IF you can keep up with his material.
He is a nice guy. He is hard but not so hard you cant pass. Make sure to study for his quizes, they are random. Make sure you read up for his in class essays and study way in advance for his tests there not easy.
Dr. Martin is the freaking man. He's a good teacher, humurous (at times), and he's really not that hard. If you read the stuff and pay attention in class, you should pull a decent B.
montone, boring, & not interested in his topic of discussion
I took this class during 1999. It had only twelve students, so it was a seminar course. I remember particularly that he disagreed with my statement that the U.S. was unsafe since the Soviet Union's downfall. I argued that we were prone to terrorists' attack. Remember, it was '99. He was O.K., though
you MUST study for this prof! expect to read the material and memorize ALL names, titles and words in italics (weekly quizzes count alot). write well for his in-class essays (meaning intelligently AND lengthy). attendance COUNTS. mid-term and final exams are fair but require LOTS of memorization. final is cumulative. FAIR prof if not taken lightly!
Dr. Martin is no joke! If you don't study you will fail. I love him to death though! He memorizes everybody's name the first day of class and he honestly cares about what you learn! Make sure you read the book and then go back through with notecards and write down every name and italicized word. Exams are all essay and short answer.
This was the hardest class that I had ever taken in my life! He is very demanding and very strict. You will take tons and tons of notes. Tests & Quizs are all essays--they really suck. But overall he is pretty fair.
Currently in the class, all comments made to date are accurate. Very specific on quizes. 5 question quiz on 3 chapters. Yet very fair, and helpful if you need
dr. martin scared me at first, but i love him as a history professor now. his lectures are very easy to follow, and his powerpoint notes are easy to copy. with a proper amount of studying, a good grade is easy to get. his quizzes are super easy - 5 indentifications on 3 chapters - and his in-class essays aren't that bad.
Really Really Hard!!!!!Avoid if possible
No Comments
This is an extremely hard course. Dr. Martin is very demanding. It's really hard to stay awake in his class. Don't take him if you don't like to take notes, because that's all you every day and all day. Midterm and Final's were impossible. The Midterm is 3 essays (in one hour). The final is 9 essays (in three hours). Hardest class ever!
Dr. Martin is VERY demanding, all tests are essay format. At first this man scared the crap outta me, BUT....your intelligence WILL show if you take him. I ended up enjoying the class, but if you dont like actually learning the material then stay away. You WILL have to learn the material to survive this class.
MAN IS BORING, TO MANY QUIZES, TOO MUCH READING, WE ARE IN COLLEGE AND ALL BUT HEH! HE IS TOO MUCH.IF YOU ARE TOTALLY OUT TO LEARN GUESS HE IS THE MAN, ATTENDANCE IS GRADED, TOO MANY NOTES, TOO MUCH. IF YOU HAVE AN ALT, TAKE IT, HE IS NOT WORTH THE HEART ACHE
Extremely difficult!!! Lots to read! Class is mind numbing. Impossible to stay awake! But you have to bc all inclass essays are on notes!! Tests are impossibly difficult!!! Final is ridiculous!! Def try to get out of his class at all costs!!!
Great professor, knows his stuff. Learn on how to study for his classes and it`s easy.
at first dr. martin scared me because of what other people said. but after taking his western civ I class, i love him as a history professor. sure, you HAVE to study...but, come on, you're in college. his lectures and powerpoint presentations are extremely easy to follow, and he promotes in-class discussion which is cool too. definately take him!
wont lie the class is hard but i have more respect for this man than any professor i've had thus far. u actually have to study regularly, take notes, and stay awake to get a good grade, if you do all that its not bad. midterm and final are hard but passable he tells you generally whats going to be on them. study. study. study. thank you dr. martin!
Great teacher!!! Hard class, but made me a better student and teacher!!!!
At first, I got scared because of all the comments I saw about him. But now that I'm taking him, he isn't as bad as I thought he was. He's a very intelligent man who knows what he's talking about - and that's what makes a great professor. Yeah, you have to study just about every day for his quizzes. All his tests are essays, but it's not as bad as
I took Hist 111 with Dr. Martin and while in it, I thought that it was extremely hard. Then I had Dr. Thornton for 112 and after going through that BS with him, I realize that Dr. Martin really isn't all that bad--You really don't have to know the material like you do in Dr. Thornton's class! Very Hard, But possibly better than some of the others
Dr. Martin is a great professor who very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the material. It is not an easy class, but it is not impossible either as long as you read and actually study. Don't wait til the night before to study or you will not do well. Great prof! I suggest taking him if you really want to learn!
Dr. James Martin is an excellent professor. He is very straightforward and clear.
Pretty easy, I got an A and I'm not a history major. Just write down all the notes. His tests are all essay questions but he gives you a list of possible questions. Just memorize your major points for each question and you'll do fine on the tests. I recommend taking this class during the summer, it takes a lot of study time outside of class.
Good teacher. Just write down the notes and read the chapters before each quiz. Know how to write good essays.
Good teacher, but tough, quiz on reading almost everyday...not a class to sleep
Dr. Martin is a GREAT professor. I know what to expect from him every time I go to class. He's very clear, and he makes class interesting. I had him for Hist 111, and happily chose to take him for 112. Be prepared to do work, though!
Great professor! His notes are very clear and understandable. His tests are now all multiple choice and are tough, but he usually gives a curve. Essays are tough, but nothing any one, who's willing to work, can't handle. Most adorable man ever!
Dr. Martin was a very good professor, what I expected from aa college professor.
Dr. Martin deserves more than a C. He deserves an A. There are not many professors on his level.
Wonderful professor! His passion for both his subject and his students really comes across in his lectures. His notes are very clear and though he is tough he is very fair. He demands respect from his pupils but he definitely gives it in return. An excellent professor and, in my opinion, and excellent person all around!
Super hard. If you are unmotivated to read a textbook from cover to cover, the def don't tak this class. His tests are all multiple choice, but they are really difficult. Great Teacher though.
Super friendly, willing to explain things after class. Will take his class again!
Excellent teacher! He really knows his stuff. Has absolutely no problem reeling off a 50 minute lecture off the top of his head, with plenty of detail to every aspect. Is willing to answer questions fully, and will gladly help you after class if you ask. Gives little to no HW, never has any surprise quizzes. Tests are kind of hard, but passable.
A quiz every week on five people from a couple of chapters in the book -- you have to know all the people to be fully prepared, but note cards do the trick. Multiple choice tests (fifty questions) are tricky, but very passable with study. He teaches straight from the power point, and, as long as you take down everything from there, you're set.
Many people liked his notes but I thought they were confusing and hard to study. Not allowed to have computers. All tests are multiple choice with one word answers. The final exam has the exact same questions on it as the first 3 exams, plus a few extra for the 4th section. So memorize the prior exams and you will be fine. Flash cards help a lot!
His quizzes consist of mainly names from your reading in the big textbook. Study your notes, a lot of that is on the test. Hes a nice guy, great teacher, and has a little sense of humor... so dont be scared of him. class might seem a little boring with all the notes but hang in there and STUDY and you should be fine.
Dr. Martin is a great teacher and you can tell he really enjoys his job. Most teachers don't have this quality. His tests are straight from his notes and his quizzes are just 5 names. I recommend taking him if possible :)
Dr. Martin was one of the best professors I have ever had in my Graduate Career. I took all my history classes with him and would highly recommend any student to take his classes. Excellent!
He was a great teacher. His tests are a direct reflection of the notes and he is very generous when grading the quizzes. He is also very willing to accommodate things like missed classes or rescheduled exams for legitimate excuses. Great teacher who makes an effort to get to know his students oh and he is brilliant!
Dr. Martin is the greatest professor ever. Everything is clear and you know what he expects from day one. He knows everything. Hands down the smartest man in the world.
he knows his stuff.
Dr. Martin knows his stuff, he knows how to teach, and he knows how to challenge you. I would recommend this class for anyone.
He's really good!
hard! his notes dont make since. every monday you have a 5 question quiz on 1-2 chapters from information u havent gone over yet so theres a C. if u like to sit a take notes all class and just memorize info for tests take his class.
Incidentally is his favorite word. it is used every 2 minutes. take down every note!! read thoroughly through all chapters
He's actually interesting to listen to. I have him for class at 8:00 am and he keeps me awake the whole time. He's very engaging. I think he is a great professor. He does say "incidentally" and "that type of thing" a lot though. Overall, he's really good. Take his class.
In this perspective, Martin is a great teacher. He allows only 5 questions on his quizzes but it comes straight from the reading. So in that regard...read your chapters!!!!
He is absolutely a college professor. He expects you to study and understand the material. All tests come straight from the notes, multiple choice format and one word answers. If you know it great, it not you're screwed. STUDY!
His quizzes were nearly impossible unless you can memorize 100+ key terms per chapter; he grades on 5 short answers. His tests are passable. However, He kept me awake and you can really tell he has a passion for history and he cares deeply about his students. Despite my grade, I took him again. Best history teacher I've ever had, period.
From this perspective, I thought he was a good teacher if youre a History major. There are easier history teachers though if youre going for a prerequisite
Dr. Martin loves History. He knows his stuff and I found his lectures interesting. You take notes from PowerPoints every class and wish he would upload them to Blackboard but if he did we wouldn't take notes. He gives back the tests which helps for the final. There are easier prof's but I like his enthusiasm for history.
Dr. Martin was my first professor and my favorite. Everyone told me to drop his class but I'm glad I didn't. I took both 111 and 112 with him and loved it! His passion for history makes him a great professor. Also has a dry sense of humor but it is great. You have to work really hard but if you do you can get an A.
Awesome lecturer
I love hearing about the celebrities' birthdays every MWF in the middle of class. Also, it's always fun to hear about his family issues. Great stuff!
I have had Dr. Martin for Hist 111 and 112. He is an awesome history teacher and he knows his stuff. His class is very enjoyable. I love the celebrity birthdays that he does every class period. He is willing to help his students any way possible. He is a great lecturer.
Dr. Martin is a great teacher. He knows his stuff but is very humble and open to corrections and varying viewpoints. He frequently gets the class involved in complex class discussions and has a myriad of ways to keep the class' attention.
he is a good guy keeps class interesting with the celebrity birthdays, test are hard though.
He is a really good teacher, his test are really hard if you don't pay attention to the discussion beyond the powerpoint.
Martin is awesome! He knows how to keep the class' attention, and he's super sweet! He'll work with you if you miss class or a test, and he's also very funny! He reads celebrity birthdays from the newspaper everyday, just to take a little 2 minute break from lecture! He was overall a great professor
I love Dr. Martin! He gives ample opportunity for extra credit and his tests'are based soley off his notes! Study hard, and you will pass with flying colors. (just look out for his quizes!)
As an overall person Martin is great! He is very kind and tries to have a sense of humor. His tests are extremely hard!!! There is a huge bell curve because if there wasn't nobody would pass the class. Quizes are tough also, but he is kind in grading those.
Dr.Martin is awesome. At first he may seem tough (and his test are) but if you work hard you can easily pass with a good grade.
Dr Martin is the BEST TEACHER AT CAMPBELL!! If you follow his notes you will be good for the tests. He is reasonable and understanding. BTW his Pennsylvania accent is great!
Professor Martin is an excellent teacher. He gets the point across, he gets the whole class involved, and he looks out for each of his students. The only thing I struggle with for his class are the quizzes and tests. Make sure you know everything you need to for the quizzes, and read every little piece of your notes for your test or you won't pass!
He's an awesome professor,he may seem hard at first but if you work hard you will pull through, he's a kindhearted individual who cares about his student. Also his test are Extremely difficult but if you study the notes and solely on them you will do fine ,Take him !
Great professor. Although he is hard you really grow as a student. You have to earn a d or f to receive it. As long as you listen, participate, and can write well you will be fine. He loves what he does and is always there to help.
Very sweet man. Hard quizzes and test, but always gives a nice curve on the test. Makes his lectures interesting, plus he has to get in his celebrity birthdays right after our break. Oh, he gives us a short break about 20 minutes before class is over.
Dr. Martin really showed me what a college course is like. Go through the chapters for quizzes and make notecards for EVERY name regarding quizzes. Tests are a challenge, but his extra credit helps more than you think. DO EVERY EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY.
He lovesss to give pop quizzes but there pretty direct and the exams are hard but he curves them by 20 points.
I absolutely loved Dr. Martin's History-111 class and I plan on taking all of his classes that are relevant to my major. He is very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. Dr. Martin is the ideal professor every student should have. He's entertaining and wise. He's welcoming and honest. He grades fairly and will curve the grade when needed.
Very formal guy. He lectures the entire time but actually makes it pretty interesting. Tests are hard but he curves each of them by 8-10 points. Know the names of the people in each chapter and what they did for the quizzes. Cumulative Final is worth 40% of your grade so be prepared for it. He actually cares if you understand the material.
Great teacher. He tries to help you understand, but he makes you work really hard to get a good grade in that class. Not impossible though as long as you get to know how he grades.
I absolutely love this man! He cuts to the chase while delivering an exceptional education. You totally feel your tuition was put to good use in Dr. Martin and you wish the mediocre professors would take a class with him as to how to properly teach. His grading criteria is clear and will assist you and welcome you if you need help.
Dr. Martin is wonderful! He doesn't tell you which people are on the quizzes so BE PREPARED. Mostly well known people, but get the hang of the quizzes and you're golden! Tests are fairly hard, but for the final test study ALL old tests! He offers extra credit and is so caring. Tough class, but he makes it interesting and fun.
I am not good at history, but Dr. Martin made it a little easier. Don't miss class because it will hurt your participation and you will miss very important material. He does offer extra credit so take advantage of that. His test are hard, but if you wrote down everything on the slides and anything he said, you will be fine. Just make sure to study!
very bad experience. nice guy but thinks way too highly of a basic, gen-ed western civ course. has to curve the tests by 20 points each time just to give you a passing grade. save yourself the trouble and take another prof
Dr. Martin clearly knows what he is lecturing about but also knows how to break it down in ways you understand it too. The quizzes are probably the most difficult part of the class. Take advantage of all the extra credit opportunities. He posts study guides for the test. Overall a very genuine and caring prof!
Dr. J Martins made me fall in love with History... not a tough grader but be prepare to read and take few quizzes. He is amazing and will remember you after two weeks of class, OH yeah! you will be amazed. Easy A if using the study guide+read the book + watch some videos required.. my first part of the semester was horrible, but i ended up with B
Dr Martin teaches this class as if it is a 400 level. He is impossible- I have a 4.0 as a senior, until now. MOST PEOPLE ARE BELOW a C average. He includes test questions which he didnt lecture about (he knows this and said this is why I curve. His quizzes are over 100 pages, which he only picks 5 names to test on! He is BORING AND DRY
Dr. Martin is a wonderful man who is very respected. He will give you everything you need for the test, but you need to be prepared to read and take his criticism. He is a tough grader and will make you work very hard for your grade but its worth it. He prepares you for higher education.
Dr. Martin is a great professor. This makes four classes that I have taken with him and I have enjoyed them all. Pay attention and be attentive in class or youll be caught off guard by one of his questions. Study the notes and youll do fine on the exams.
Dr. Martin is not a bad teacher, but I feel as though he presents this class as more of an upper-level class. To put it simply, he has to curve each test by at least 30 points for people to pass. In my opinion, a good teacher should not have to curve that harshly. The quizzes are only 5 names but you have to read so much. final is 40% !!!!!!
Dr. Martin's class is definitely not an "easy A." If you want an A you will have to WORK hard for it. He curves all of his tests (3) and final. The only bad thing about his class is the quizzes which he cumulates and is only 10% of your final grade. He really cares about his students and wants them to learn. I would definitely recommend him!
The whole class is lecture-based & note taking is all slideshows. The exams are fair if you memorize the lecture notes but he has put things on them that we didn't cover. Final exam was 60% of the final grade! Biggest complaint of the class would be the quizzes, he chooses 5 random terms out of 2 chapters and wants definitions of the term
Dr. Martin is a Mensch. He arrives early to Campbell & stays late. He is very responsive with emails; you can always reach him outside of class if his door is open. Often he applies minimal penalties for late papers. He sets the bar high. Work hard and earn it. In the numerous classes I had with him he was always benevolent.
Dr Martin is amazing, by the second day of class he will have your name memorized. He tests and quizzes hard but he also curves the grade on exams a ton. had him for a few classes and try to get him if at all possible.
People are not joking when they say that Martin teaches a difficult course. This gen-ed class will be the thing you focus on the most when you take him. It's really frustrating not to recommend him: He's a great person. But you're really putting your GPA in jeopardy. I got a good grade, but it took an insane level of effort.
Dr. Martin is an amazing professor. It is obvious he loves his job and care for his students! His test can be hard, but overall great class!
If you want to pass the class with a good grade, read.... it'll help. Write down everything on the powerpoints and on the board. There will be a quiz before he goes over the chapter. (It's all about memorization) All the vocab is in the book if you look very very closely.
Honestly hes an awful professor, mostly because of his quizzes and tests. Often gave study guides and lists of vocabulary to study and then the tests would have many questions NOT ON THE LISTS. Definitely not worth taking his class, just pick any other prof.
Tests on subjects not included in lecture notes or term sheet. Attention to detail.
Honestly he is very nice but an awful professor, mostly because of his quizzes and tests. Granted, he does curve each test probably an average of 25 points each time..... He Often gave study guides and lists of vocabulary to study and then the tests would NOT have the info learned. NOT worth taking HIS class, just pick another professor.
Honestly he is very nice but an awful professor, mostly because of his quizzes and tests. Granted, he does curve each test probably an average of 25 points each time... He Often gave study guides and lists of vocabulary to study and then the tests would NOT have the info learned. NOT worth taking HIS class, just pick another professor.
Dr. Martin is a great person but a terrible professor. His test and quizzes are on something that you havent been over or discussed. Also the day after you take the test or quiz hell lecture about the questions that were on the test or quiz.
Dr. Martin is one of the best professors at Campbell. He might be a little tough, but he definitely will make sure you understand the material, and you can always get ahold of him from his office or emails. He is super caring. Definitely should take Dr. Martin at least once if you can.
Loves his job but a terrible teacher. Teaches all content after the quizzes that have virtually nothing to do with the 80+ Vocabulary words he gives to study. Tests have a lot of little information you must know. If youre late to class he deducts 2-3% of your class grade each class. Be prepared to take read and take a lot of notes in his class.
Worst class I have taken so far. For an AOE course he has set moderated Discussion Board time that you have to participate in if you want a good grade. Can't forget the amount of weekly work assigned for an undergraduate class. Multiple chapters, quiz, Discussion board, book reviews, and the final is a paper.
His quizzes do not have any info that has been discussed, often filled with questions about specific (down to the day) dates and what happened on them. Discussion boards require excessive participation to get a good grade, and he sets a time that you must participate which is difficult for online students.
Ok, Dr. Martin is the most precious man and he truly loves what he teaches, but you HAVE to treat this like a 300 level course. It is hard, his tests and quizzes are meticulous and if you're not devoting a lot of time to studying. That being said, he does curve his tests and offers extra credit for like a point. All in all, just put the work in.
Dr. Martin includes questions on his exams/quizzes that he himself knows were never discussed in class or in the textbook. He has to curve every exam in order to keep enough of his students above failing. He disregarded and overlooked my numerous emails asking how to get my grade up in his course, which inevitably led me to dropping his course.
Dr. Martin is simply a reading heavy class. You have weekly quizzes that consist of names and dates from two chapters. Honestly sometimes is lectures you learn a lot, and sometimes its a blend of nothing. An extreme pain to get a good grade, not the best teacher. Cares about the subject, but look for someone else if you care about your GPA.
Amazing man. He is the best professor I have ever had. If you immerse yourself in his class, he will immerse himself in you. His tests are difficult, and honestly you have to be good at memorizing to get a good grade. Despite the difficulty, He will truly do whatever he can to give you opportunities outside of the classroom to develop your future.
If your memorization capabilities are average, you will get an average grade. If they're amazing, you will get an amazing grade. Dr. Martin is an amazing person and cares about his students. My only complaint is the difficulty of his tests. I enjoyed his class and didn't have an issue it. Your grade is based purely on your intellectual ability.
Dr. Martin is a great professor. You will succeed in his class with an A if you pay attention and write down everything he "hints" and writes on the whiteboard. He cares a lot about his students and passing. There is a TON of quizzes, and a paper (go to the writing center for it to be check; tough grader), and 4 Exams. Study hard!!
I absolutely love Dr. Martin. He is an amazing and caring professor who truly loves his job and is incredibly passionate about his students and their successes. He is a little dry when it comes to lectures, but he is still so incredibly caring and concerned about his students. I would take more classes with Dr. Martin!
The professor is hit-or-miss - engaging but his tests are notoriously tough, with questions covering material beyond the lecture/textbook. Attendance is a must. unstuck ai helped me prepare.
