He is a wonderful teacher. I had the class late in the evening. If I had any other teacher, I'm sure I would have fallen to sleep. He kept it interesting. He makes the test as easy as he can, and just wants everyone to pass. I would recommend him.

This teacher is wonderful. He is all about making sure that you learned. He is helpful, sweet, compassionate, merciful, and fun. Dr. Martin is the only way to go with Pol Sci.

I highly recommend Professor Martin's Political Science class. His tests are extremely easy, he is very fair with the term paper and he is also an extremely funny and likeable guy. Even though his class is easy, you will still learn a lot if you pay attention and attend all his lectures.

I am currently taking his class now, he is a great teacher. It is true he does stray from the book from time to time but whenever he does he speaks about current events that you do want to know about. I just took my midterm last week and I can't wait to see what I got. His test was not hard at all. I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

This is the easiest class I've ever taken, took it over summer and only meets 4 times because its a telecourse. Barely any HW. One midterm and final which comes EXACLY from questions provided in the book all you gotta do is memorize. He only grades the midterm and final and you can skip the final and get a letter grade below the midterm...EASY!

Great teacher. Even though he is super easy I still feel like I learned a lot. His lectures keep you interested and he knows what you can relate to so that you listen and learn. If you need an A, take this class. If you want to learn, take this class. It's the best.

I also took Martin for POS2112 and all I can say is he is awesome. Mr. Martin is pretty funny and is also a great teacher. I found his classes to be thoroughly interesting. He is not afraid to express his opinion on government or the political system. His class is very easy but you do learn a lot. Uses the book but it's a good idea to attend class.

Probably the best teacher I've had so far at HCC. Incredibly good communicator, knows his stuff. Took him during entire summer semester, and would highly recommend. He doesn't use powerpoints, but actually teaches from his knowledge. Tests were hard, but he fully prepared you for them. Extremely fair to students, not a real bias at all

Prof Martin is GREAT! He is a very smart and informed teacher! He emails class notes and review questions. Sometimes the answers. There is a Gordon Rule Paper. He does not use the book. He teaches from experience and opinion and uses current events to make the information understandable. Great communicator and listener! Take Mr. Martin if you can!

Quite possibly one of the best teachers I have ever had! Coming to class with this guy is a real pleasure. Helpful and informative, he definitely makes you want to learn. 1,500 word requirement for papers, and a mid-term and final. He grades very fairly. Take this class!

Took him for 2 classes back to back (POS-2041 and POS-1001) and got A's in both. He is laid back, great sense of humor, realistic, and communicates well. Tests are 100 question with extra credit. He posts review sheets online for all making it almost impossible not to get an A. Gordon rule paper is not hard either. You will learn even if you sleep!

Martin is by far the best professor I have ever had in my educational career. He has traveled the world and make political issues his passion and it shows through every class I had with him. You learn so much and it isn't a bore at all. I high recommend taking his classes, plus he is n't out to hurt you GPA which is always nice.

lectures are entertaining. exams are super easy... he posts the entire exam and all answers on blackboard, so there's really no excuse not to ace all exams (he even curves hard, lol). one 1.5k word paper w very generous grading. easy easy A with little work and you learn a lot. take him. textbook unnecessary and attendance mandatory btw

OK. so his lectures are super long, but totally worth it! no need for book, just show up. honestly, I gave up taking notes too, since he pretty much gives you the answers for the test, and you remember most of what he says during his lecture, which is very entertaining most of the time, since he is able to relate to his students. 1 paper, 4 tests.

Tells it how it is. He teaches religion as it's suppose to be. Lectures could be long, reading is required. Go in there with an open mind, try not to get offended. Loved how he thought the class because he does not keep anything back.

Passionate teacher who is mostly concerned with students becoming more informed voters than being bogged down with tests. Won't need book. Hilarious & definitely has a political view, but extremely open to the opinions of all. If you're too sensitive you may have a problem dealing, but be open minded, because his class is worth it.

Professor Martin's lectures are entertaining and very student-oriented. He's not strict with the syllabus; checking online for updates is important. No paper, 3 or 4 exams. Use the practice quizzes & you'll pass the exams no problem. If you have questions about the practice quizzes, ask! Sometimes the answers are off, just ask and he'll correct it.

Thought this was going to be a boring class because it is not easy to make government a fun subject but Professor Martin did. So glad I had him as a teacher and nobody else. But make sure to read and pay attention.

There is so much good to say about his lectures and test that i can't fit it all. Show up too class, take notes, study the practice quizzes and you will pass the class with an A! no book needed he is better than the book and actually dislikes things that are said in the book and he gives in input on why every time.

He makes learning about government really easy. Absolutely loved him, he's funny and very understanding. Sometimes rambles but it wasn't an issue for me. Don't waste money on a textbook - If you review the practice questions he puts online, you should pass every exam with an A or AT LEAST a B. It's hard to get lower than a B in this class.

Awesome all around, I wish he could teach all of my classes. Prof Martin knows what he is doing and tries to help everyone of his students. His lectures are always filled with the funniest stories. I feel so sad when I miss a class because i know I'll miss one of his anecdotes. But don't think it's some random story, it always ties into the lesson.

I took this course in the summer, every Monday and Wednesday for only 6 weeks. Each class session was 3+ hours. The class wasn't boring at all, he makes a lot jokes. Only consist of I think 5 exams, which he gives you the reviews for. The review is the exam!!!! Trust me. I learned a lot in this course. Very easy A. Would take him again :)

I took American Government during an election year with Mr. Martin. He made it very interesting and did not seem to offend anyone in the class, he was funny and related his lectures to real world situations. If you pay attention and DO THE TEST REVIEWS you will pass this class. This is a great class to take if you aren't into history.

What a great, well-rounded teacher. While taking his POS1001, I enjoyed his crazy stories and how he lets you see a situation from multiple points of view. Highly recommended if you enjoy politics; you'll enjoy how he relates material in class to what is going on or events that he's experienced in his lifetime.

Great professor. Very knowledgeable and its impossible to earn anything below a B in his class. Stupid easy, practices test he puts out online are EXACTLY the test. Study those and memorize the answers and you will get an A every time. Since his class is easy and he knows it he is very big on attendance. He will deduct a lot of points if you skip.

Professor Martin was an amazing Professor! I highly enjoyed being in his class and recommend taking him. His tests are exactly the practice tests. Took him for American Government during the summer. Lectures are pretty lengthy but he's so knowledgeable and is so hilarious that you enjoy every minute of it. If you study the questions on the study guide you're gauranteed an A on that test. He comes across as strict but he's extremely understanding and is easy to work with.

Professor Martin gives great lectures that are down to earth and will teach you about real world scenarios. He has a ton of experience in political science and economics. I have never been in to history-type classes, but I loved his class. He goes easy on the grading, but expects you to put forth the effort.

L.A.) The A+ in the class is super too obtain, there's a few test that you are graded by, but they are easy if you go over the reviews that has up on were he uploads his grades. Very funny, I get a headache when teachers try to be funny, but this man is seriously funny. You don't have to show up for lectures, easily passable if you don't.

Criteria is very dry unless youre into the material. Occasionally hell bring up topics that hes not experienced with, but will let you know by pivoting back to lecture. He gives you pre tests where the Q&A are exactly the same as they are on the tests. Overall hes very easy going and will try to keep students engaged with comedy. Easy A

I took James Martin for American gov. I cannot stress to you enough how amazing he is. He's so funny, nice and goes above and beyond for you. He has ALOT of extra credit, the book is "mandatory" to have but I never used it. Review guides for ALL test are exactly like the test (so no book) and I ended up getting 115% Mans got jokes too. 10/10

The taught criteria are dry, but Prof. Martin helps enhance lectures with comedy. Do not purchase the textbook; he mentioned it only about two times through the entire semester. Most of the posted study guide questions (they'd be on Canvas) are on the unit tests. If you want an easy "A," then he is the instructor to pick. Happy and easy-going guy.

He gets off topic on lectures but some of his stories help you remember the material better. There's no homework or classwork, it's just lectures. Notes are online and reading the textbook is optional. There's online study guides similar to the exams and he's funny. Don't study last minute and take your time reviewing the notes.

Martine is really funny. I took his night class which was three hours long and he would not make you stay that long. His test is reflected off of his study guides so if you learn the study guide you will pass.

Professor Martin is by far one of the most motivational professors out there. Even before the pandemic he was very helpful and understanding. Now with being in the middle of a pandemic he has been amazing!! and that says something!! Be ready for lectures.. He knows what he's talking about and it shows (real-world examples). 10 tests are your only grade, but if you study and do his optional practice quizzes, you are guaranteed an A. The easiest you will ever receive, even for a summer term!! He is great about emailing back quickly. Just read his modules, study all the practice quizzes he gives you, and get the golden A. He also knows what he is teaching and loves to break it down so anyone can understand the political system.

Professor Martin is thoughtful and rational. I took this class online, and the only graded assignments in his class were the exams. Almost all of the questions on the exams were the exact same as the questions on the practice tests. I suggest taking all of the practice tests multiple times until you are familiar with all of the answers.

James Martin is the best professor I've had so far. His course consists of 8 tests that are based on lectures in the module and textbook reading. Each module has practice quizzes that are very helpful. The course was extremely straightforward. You have 3 tries on the exams so getting an A was easy. His lessons make it clear he enjoys the course.

6 quizzes, one per week (6 week class). Just read the material he has written himself in the modules tab and the quizzes will be no problem. Also he gives practice quizzes using same question bank as the actual ones so all the questions will be repeats if you take the practice enough times. This was the easiest class I've ever taken in my life! There are a number of quizzes based on the module readings. These quizzes have practice tests and all of the questions from the practice are what is on the graded quiz. He sounds kind of unapproachable in the syllabus, but he means well. My first 100%.

Course covers a lot of material but it is really well organized. Each unit has interesting videos that help break up the really heavy reading sections. Practice tests are very useful to study before each unit test. Clear grading criteria and expectations, strict on assignment due dates but you know the dates for everything at the start of class
