He is the BEST professor EVER!!!! Pay attention in class, take notes, and do the reading and you will get a good grade. He gives extra credit and makes the class really intresting. Ive tooken several classes with him and never gotten lower than an A. He is the reason im a sociology major. HIGHLY RECOMMENEDED!!!!

He let multiple classmates go off in tangents about off topic or anecdotal chit chat that hindered the class from getting the necessary information taught for that class period. Show up to class everyday. Pay attention, write down the Power Point slides BUT also write down what he says. Skim through the reading. Review your notes now and then. Do not purchase the book unless you want to waste money. You will never use the book. Took him years ago at Valley College - He was way better before for SOC 11! Now he is rood and got way more tough, no joke. He literally changed his ways of teaching at Pierce. The fact that he got a full time position changed him. Sad because he WAS the best.

Tells a lot of stories, makes class interesting, Every single one of his slides are in the book word for word! Not a breeze by class though! know the material! Only tests are the Midterm & Final. He comes off intimidating during the first 2 class sessions to scare slackers away by introducing you to the work load, which isn't even much to begin w. Excellent professor! Took his honors intro class last fall. With taking notes during lecture and studying the key terms from the textbook, you'll do great. McKeever is HILARIOUS; he had me cracking up every lesson. Uses his life experiences as examples in many lessons, all of which were interesting and actually related well. PLUS: he's pretty cute!

Took his class TWICE. 1st time,because I needed a credit for honors, 2nd time I took it for fun. He is very intelligent, fair, passionate about sociology. Don't expect an "easy" A and at the same time he won't make you sweat. Just show up, listen, read and you will get an A! In addition, you will gain knowledge because in his class it's inevitable.

He is very clear about all the information he presents. He also had review for the midterm and the final in such a way that it was enjoyable. I have never seen a review done the way he does it with any other teacher. It is not a easy A, but is not extremely difficult. Take him, but sign up for his class before the first day.

Professor is hands down the best sociology teacher at Pierce. He makes it easy to understand the material, he breaks it down into powerpoints, also he worked as a correction officer. So he knows what he is taking about. I had to retake the course and Im glad because he made it easier to understand. I highly recommend him for any sociology class.

He tries to make every class interesting and succeeds. Tells the class when the "pop" quizzes are going to be. Review days tells the class exactly what will be on the test. Attend every class and participate and you will get the full 30 pts.

Great class. the professor is extremely helpful and passoniate. there is one project (not hard) a midterm and a final all multiple choice. Easy class, but its also easy to fail cuz it is an easy class and you need to put in effort you cant just slack off. Note taking is the best thing you can do as well as showing up.

Definitely a great teacher. You can tell that he loves what he does. Lectures are rarely boring, he tries to incorporate humor when he can. Not afraid to drop the F word, so if that offends you, try to ignore it because he's a great teacher. If you listen to what he says and ask questions you'll be fine. I was excited to take this class, but I feel like we just do the same thing every class; talk about articles. yea we go off topic most of the time but maybe we could try and do something else. he hardly explains the poster project which left me clueless last minute. what bothers me the most about his class is that he curses way too much!

First off, you need the textbook to pass this class. His tests are fairly easy if you read the text and pay attention to what he points out. 3 tests, 2 mini quizzes, rarely any homework, extra credit and one project with or without a group(your preference). he's overall a really funny and open minded professor. would definitely take again :)

McKeever has definitely been the best professor I have yet to take. His lectures are great and his open-mindedness pretty much rubs off on you. I always looked forward to coming to his class. Admittedly, I did not like this class in the very beginning (far too liberal for me), but I came in with an open mind anyway and ended up loving McKeever by the end. Extremely easy class. Great professor! Gives ton of extra credit , more than any other professor in college. You only get one essay, which he makes it easy and clear to understand. There are two quizzes , a midterm and final. His lectures are one of the best that there are in college. He really cares about the success of his students.

Soc. 31 covers a lot of material, but McKeever outlines very specifically which parts will be included on quizzes & exams. Slideshows in class reinforce/replace textbook reading. Recommended!

Professor McKeever is easily one of the best professors I've ever had. He clearly cares about what he's teaching and it shows. He's inspirational, funny, smart, and simply just a great guy. The only thing I'd change about this class is that final grade is only based off of 5 assignments (2 quizzes, 1 essay, a midterm, and a final).

Took him for Sociology 31 Genders class! He really cares about his students and is always available during his office hours. If you're not into group projects this one is required which kind of sucks since the group I ended up with really didn't do much but nonetheless it was an easy A. Had the chance to take his gender studies class during fall '18 and I'm so glad I did. He clearly cares about all of his students and is there to not only teach the subject material but also valuable life stuff. Doctor McKeever is the best professor I've ever had. He is geniunely thoughtful and treats all students with respect. At the beginning of the semester, he asked all students to share their name and pronouns. Additionaly, he keeps the class engaged with his sense of humor and by sharing personal stories to supplement the lecture.

Class is comprised of chapter reflections of at least 400 words,"pop quizzes" (which are 5 questions and he emails you the night before the quiz to lyk what it is on and what to bring), and a final. This was my last semester at Pierce and I'm so happy I ended with Professor McKeevers class. We were disrupted by COVID midway so his amazing lectures were not the same online but he truly made the transition so easy. He made the class interesting and relatable. He was great. I took Soc 004 online and his class was chill. He was very lenient with the assignments and changed up a lot of due dates with was helpful. Dr. McKeever was a down to earth person and very real. I found him to be very inspirational to hear the background he came from and where he is now. Participation is a part of your grade, which is a bit tough over Zoom with 40 people, but otherwise, his assignments were all straight forward and fair. He was always motivational in our class.

Excellent professor. Took him for Winter 2022. Zoom class and you must have your camera on and must participate in the discussion. Participation is 15% of your final grade. Clearly tells you what is going to be on the final so take some notes during the lecture. Short video lectures with questions at the end. Some extra credit is available.

One of the best professors I have ever taken, and very inspirational, too. He is not afraid to challenge the norm (which, truthfully, is what I'd expect from a sociology professor). He is not afraid to stare at the elephants in the room, and in this analogy, I would call him an elephant hunter. He's worth taking again and again. Do it.

Definitely one of the best professors at Pierce. I adore him, and his lectures are inclusive & inspiring. He recognizes that he does not know everything there is to know about human sexuality, so he takes pointers from his class if needed. I recommend him!

Best Professor hands down. NO COMPLAINTS. It is hard to find professors that connect to the student and he is able to do that while informing us on topics that are relevant. Funny man, realest person without holding back his beliefs, and he makes me consider changing my major or getting into a profession that can use sociology for sure!!! Trust!
