Great professor ...

Awesome teacher! Very explanatory, and helpful with all your work, even extends duedates for final drafts frequently, being very beneficial to the students. This guy rocks, if you want a low stress class, this is it!

I never met him in person, but over the internet he's very helpful and he can be lenient with final drafts. He was very responsive to student comments and kept the conversation going. The online class may be hard for some because he expects you to keep up, but it's definitely worth it.

Mcward is an energetic, funny guy that will clearly explain the things he wants from you. He also uses webct which is great because you can turn in all your homework online, and look at notes. Taking his class greatly improved my writing skills. He also is up for helping you and will revise your paper if you bring it in ahead of time

Dr. McWard is awesome. Much more stimulating than my Comp I class. He challenges you and wants to help you. I did an assignment wrong on accident and he let me revise it for full credit! Each paper is drafted in steps so it's easy to understand. If you put in the effort he will help you succeed. Great online teacher.

McWard is an awesome teacher. I would highly recommend taking him as a teacher. I had him for Comp 1 & 2 and will have him yet again for another class next semester. Definitely a good choice if you're looking for an english teacher.

I loved mr. McWard! He is an extremely laid back guy! He uses blackboard, which i found very helpful. he is leniant with due dates and the assignments are easy and helpful and are also easy points to help with your grade!! i would totally recommend him to anyone!!

GREAT TEACHER!!! He is the most helpful and accomodating teacher I have had at this school. He is very lenient on due dates and always has a great, funny story to tell. If you do the papers and attend class you will do great in the class. I would DEFINITELY recommend him to everyone taking a comp class!!!!

I had him for Comp II online, he is crystal clear in what he expects in assigments and is very helpful. The feedback he provides on your essays is excellent. Do not get behind, stick to his due dates and you will be fine.

he was an awesome teacher. very helpful and kept the class fun with class discussions and helpful exercises. i liked having him so much as a professor that i signed up to take his comp II class. if you can take one of his classes, do it. you will not regret it.

McWard is an awesome professor, he knows how to teach you to do that readin' and writin' good.

I was in his Masterpieces of the Cinema online class. The course was extremely interesting, and he made it completely worth the while. He is very helpful, very understanding, and an incredible professor. I'd take another class from him anytime.

I took his online Comp II class. Very hard. Very demanding workload. He will not accept any late work for quizzes and assignments, only the final papers. Papers required were long. If you are not an English major and just needing the fill the req. I would take the class with someone else.

Good, funny, knowledgeable teacher. I took his class during the Fall 08 semester, and ended up with an A. The lowest grade I got on an essay was a 92, but I still wouldn't say its an easy A. He gives great feedback on your papers so you can improve your writing, if your interested in taking my writing classes in the future.

He's a great professor! Very helpful and easy to reach by email! I enjoy his class a lot! He's very funny! He is willing to help as long as you ask! I'd take him again without a doubt! Great experience...you have to put effort in your writing but it's worth it! :)

He sets the standard for online classes...very interactive and truly "teaches." I've taken 6 online classes now and his is by far the best. I was worried that he would be "hard" but he really strives to make his assignments and expectations crystal clear THEN he goes to the effort of making coments on your paper & uploading the pdf.

McWArd is a good teacher that i have at JCCC. he is picky on late work. his class is easy if you keep track with what he wants. otherwise, it's gonna be hard. you will be able to write some different kinds of paper after his class. take him if you're willing to write hard papers

McWard is an awesome teacher. i had him for my Comp 1 class. there are 5 different kinds of papers that you will be writing if you take him. after his class, you will be mor confident in writing papers. he's really picky on late work, but overall.AWESOME teacher!

I have him for an Online Composition 2 class. I've never had to ask help on anything but all of his lessons are very well outlined and detailed - However, he is a tough grader. But he always (unless the paper is late) tells you why he graded it the way he did.

He is a tough teacher, but you will learn a lots from him. Highly recommend him!!!

Dr. McWard is an excellent teacher who makes anyone a better writer. I appreciate his crystal clear instructions and his helpfulness. Never did he not respond to a question I or anyone had. It's not an easy A. If you want to learn to write well, take him. He teaches other ENG courses so I am going to take more classes from him.

Overall my favorite teacher this year, he is very clear in what he wants and is readily available to answer any questions you may have. In class he makes a fun environment for learning & discussion. To do well, you must attend class, do well on most assignments, complete your papers. You'll become a better writer but it won't be necessarily easy.

Okay teacher, but some of his assignments are useless in helping improve your English skills. He's a big time liberal, so if you're a Republican I'd avoid taking him at all costs.

Took online masterpieces of the cinema. Great class and I learned a lot about film. I have a new appreciation for it and McWard is a great teacher. Follow everything he says to do and you can get an A.

Mr. McWard was recommended by Mr. Alexander and they are both amazing teachers. Mr. McWard's class is not easy, but it is high standard and it is for students who are really involved in writing. He makes everything very clear and his learning modules are extremely helpful if you take the time to read them of course. A+ online class.

He's a good teacher, however his liberal political stance can interfere with that and offend people who don't share his exact same views. His class consisted of a lot of busy work and not a lot of time dedicated to writing and the English language.

Great teacher. Very clear and helpful. He won't give you an A but if you show up and do the homework you will have no problem getting a B at the least

I took this class online. Overall I would say it is what i expected out of a comp 2 class. He does expect you to post things several times a week, however only a few of these activities are truely time consuming. He is very very helpful and friendly and will answer any questions you have in a timely manner. Somewhat tried and still got an A.

Took this class online, and I really really enjoyed it - felt like I learned SO MUCH! You have to dedicate some time to it, but my suggestion would be to get into a rhythm each week and you'll be fine. Read the modules before and after the movie - it'll help you understand things, know what to look for and give you some perspective. Take it!

This was the most well-organized online course I have EVER taken! Super easy to nagivate, the assignments build upon eachother and when it comes to writing the research - it is a BREEZE! McWard promptly responds to emails and is quick in returning grades. Always willing to lend advice on how/ what to incorporate in your paper! Overall A+ Teacher!

Online class was extremely organized. You will not have any troubles understanding what needs to be done. It is a lot of work but you will learn from this class. He gives in-depth modules that go with every paper. Five papers. Within each module you will have several assignments along with the paper. All papers build off of each other.

I would 100% recommend this teacher. He is very organized and clarifies what he wants on all of his assignments. If for some reason you don't understand he does not hesitate to help. I received and A in his class with little effort just because I showed up to class every day. McWard keeps a calender online and makes this class very easy to handle.

he is a great teacher to have, and excellent roll model. anytime i had a question in class he would stop everything and make sure i was on the right path. also has beautiful piercing blue eyes.

Completely disregard the other review about his mass media class being hard and unfair. Dr. McWard is a great professor and this is one of the most fun classes I have taken. Online quizzes each week which are easy. 2 papers and a presentation and a final. Overall a great professor who genuinely cares and a really fun and easy class

Professor McWard tends to be a little disorganized in terms of letting students know what is going on, but as long as you pay attention in class and look on D2L, you shouldn't have any late assignments. He's also pretty funny and really passionate about what he teaches. His tests are also relatively easy as long as you pay attention in class.

McWard keeps to his syllabus, assigns journal entries (1page), expects you to be there with participation. He is very funny, and open for relatiablty with students. Papers were usually easy if you focus, and do your research. Tests can be challenging, but not impossible if you take notes during class. ATTEND all classes for the best results.

Took him for Comp II. He gives very tough readings, but then explains them in class so it's not that bad. The papers are fairly easy if you follow his guidelines and pay attention in class. I recommend taking notes on your computer when he explains a reading so you can reference back to them when you have to write a paper. Ask for help when u need!

Mr. McWard is such an good and patient teacher. He always makes sure you understand what he is lecturing about and can be so funny. If you are having any kind of trouble and need to meet with him to get help, he is always available and makes sure it is around your time. You need to actually go to class and he will tell you that in class.

Very kind and funny in lectures, is willing to discuss with class, grades pretty quick and responds to e-mails fast. Fair grading. Actually has a passion for teaching.

I had Prof. McWard for Technical Writing. Subject material is dry, but he does a good job explaining it and making it relevant. Definitely knows his stuff. Very involved in D2L, Google Drive, and Turnitin so make sure you're comfortable using those before signing up. Will grade for attendance and give group assignments. His feedback is awesome.

Great Professor in English Teaching! Dr. McWard have PHD degree and love teaching. He is very humor and respect every students. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. His lecture is very interesting and students can learn a lots from his class. Awesome professor make JCCC more stand out!!

I took his online film class and found his grading to be consistent and clear about what he wanted. As long as you watch the movie and keep up with the quiz and discussion once a week you will pass with flying colors. He really cares about the important aspects of the class and doesn't get too caught up in things like grammar.

easily one of the best professors i've ever had. he's very thorough and clear about the assignments, ORGANIZED, he wants you succeed. if come to class and ask for help, you will pass and become a better writer

Professor McWard was a great teacher, and I really felt like I became a better writer through taking his class. He responds to emails outside of class in a quick and timely manner. Don't let the syllabus scare you, if you keep up with the assignments and prioritize the reading material for your essays, the homework itself isn't difficult to pass.

Professor McWard is extremely clear on his expectations. Although I think I greatly improved my writing ability throughout this course, this class was much more intensive than I thought it would be. You have five major writing assignments and if you are a perfectionist, like me, you will spend multiple days on each one.

Professor McWard is one of the best teachers I've ever had. People complain about the essays but the curriculum is set by the english department, not the instructor. There is a lot of reading in this class that drove me a little crazy, but I couldn't have asked for a better teacher.

Loved him. Super funny and laid back. It is a writing class but you do activities to help with papers that are helpful. Papers are about yourself and not a dumb topic so that makes it helpful. He gives excellent feedback but explaining things he doesn't do too well of but just ask him to explain a little more and he will.

I liked proffessor McWard. He was a nice guy and a fair grader. However, I found the subject material regularly boring and the topic choices far too rigid. If you're trying to check a box, he's a great teacher. If you like the subject, you may find it too conventional.

Dr. McWard was the best professor that I have ever had in the English department. He is very funny, and cares about his students. Clear grader, requires rough drafts and each one gets an easy 30 points for peer revision.

Professor McWard is an amazing Professor. He made his lectures very interesting and will help you become a very good writer. However, his class is not an easy A, in order for me to get an A in his class I had to work very hard. I did grow a lot in his class and Professor McWard is very skilled at what he does. I would recommend taking him.

Take his class! Getting an A is not easy, but if you pay attention, put the in effort, & do the work, you will have a higher chance of succeeding. He cares & is very helpful that you understand what you're doing so ask questions if you need help! Organized course, and lectures are very interactive, quite funny, and enjoyable! Would def take again.

I would recommend taking Dr. McWard's course. His class is very organized and he is accessible outside of class. He makes you do TONS of pre-writing so that makes writing the papers a bit easier. He gives good feedback on those as well along with the peer reviews. His class is great but, in my opinion, he can be a bit callous at times.

Professor McWard is awesome but his readings for the class are tough sometimes. A lot of the essays that you will have to write are comparative essay's which I hated. He does a great job at giving very detailed instructions on what he wants and expects. Overall good class but can be changeling at times.

Took online summer course,was easier than CompI to me.Very clear directions and gives great feedback. Homework is not extreme but expect to write a paper about every week/biweekly. Personally I skipped out on the Rough Draft/Peer Review assignments, did not affect my grade but make sure you submit final draft every time or you better drop the class

Gives really awesome in depth feedback on all assignments. He's very respectful about comments he makes regarding papers. Be prepared to work hard, but if you do you'll get a good grade. However most papers are around 1000 words so not too bad. Seems like a nice guy and really gives the impression that he cares about what he's teaching. 10/10

Professor McWard always gave me great criticism on my papers, and ways I could improve as a writer. I took his course online and even with the papers, the workload of the class is very manageable. Only caution I give you is that he will not accept ANY late-work. Apart from that, great professor!

Very great professor with very clear guidelines on what to expect over the semester, when it comes to papers that you are required to write you are given lots of time to work on them and if you have any questions he is very accessible to ask and gives good feedback on written papers. Very tech-savvy and knows what he's doing.

Actually really great guy, he makes learning entertaining and easy to follow. He gives great feedback on papers but does grade heavily on the final drafts so be sure to listen to those notes on your rough drafts!

I had McWard for both Comp 1 and Comp 2 now and he's a great teacher. He shows that he cares. Will give great advice if you reach out. Only negatives is that sometimes he can express his political views a little bit and also is a hard grader in comp 2, but at the same time, that is expected because of that specific course. Overall, highly rec.!

Funny guy, I don't know why people are so harsh on HIM. He makes class entertaining and I truly think you guys just need to relax but yea overall fun guy he brings joy to a quiet classroom.
