Jim Namekata is a wonderful teacher! He explains any thing you need, and if you didn't get it you just raise your hand and he'll repeat it or have you helped after class!
The BEST!!!
great teacher, good class
Namekata is a great teacher! I can't stand math, but he does his best to help his students understand the material. He is very approachable and rarely misses a class. I took his hybrid course and he really went into depth on his requirements.
Mr. Namekata is the best math teacher at RCC. He is clear in his lectures. I have taken him 3 times for math. I agree with the previous critique. Mr. Namekata is very good looking and that is a "plus" in a math class!
He is the Best math teacher that i have ever had. He makes math so easy and he has a great technique for teaching the material. I hated math until i took this class, i never understood it. He is really nice and always on time. Overall he is easy.
He is so clear and easy to understand. I did not want to take any math becasue Iam so bad. I listened to his lectures and got an A. His tests are short.
Ok why does everyone like this guy? I didnt learn anything from him. He writes the book on the board...how helpful is that?? I wouldnt take him again.
Very well structured class. Explains everything well. Tests are fair. Excellent instructor!

Very interesting, talks to you like you're retarded and since i was retarded at math it helped me a whole lot. Easy to follow, and very clear. Good teacher i recommend
All book work
If you barely placed MATH 52, and know that you're not good in Math, do yourself a favor and take Math 50. I did, & if I hadn't I would have failed! His hybrid class moves quickly, 1/2 time in class, 1/2 in lab. MyMathLab really helps, cpu is picky about typing in answers, frustratin but I learned alot. Fair teacher, I thought I had a C and got B.
he does do everything from the book, but he does make everything clear for you.. i recommend him!
His class is really easy and he is really helpful. It helps a lot when you do the homework online because the program tells you if you're write or wrong and helps you work it out. I took the class once with Mrs. Kim and failed because I could barely understand her, but he was a great teacher! I highly recommend him!
He so nice, and very concerned with his classmates performance.
I took his 52 class during the condensed term and earned an A, took his 35 class during the sping and got a B (thought I had a C.) He is a very good teacher for students who need specifics, he's pleasing to the eye as well. But I've matured since then, I've gotten over that little crush, SERIOUSLY. Take his Karate class too!
he is very nice..and he is really good...I recommend him for sure...he gives tons of assignments but its all worth it..he is very calm and fun...
He's very clear and easy to understand. He's very concerned about making sure everyone understands the material and he encourages questions. He's quite the looker as well! **wink wink** ;)
Mr. Namekata is a great instructor he explains everything very clear he's very organized he's the best math instructor i've ever had
Do the work, study, and show up for an A.
Definitely show up for lecture and take notes. He makes everything clear (or clearer). Practice in class helps with A grade. Do the homework and the tests will be no problem. Use the practice exam for the final and you'll do fine.
Very nice and is willing to help but there is way too much homework. Homework EVERY night!
Just do your homework. Just keep solving problems 20x and you'll get an A++
boring
Yes, he is the greatest teacher you can ever get for math. i hated math before i took him and he made me love it..he made everything look super easy. he drops the lowest test.if you dont pass his class there is something wrong with you. if i was able to pass with a A anyone else can.
Lectures are easy to understand and very organized. Tests come from homework and lecture problems. Homework is graded. There are "surprise" quizzes but points are counted as extra credit. (will not hurt your grade if you get a 0). In general, he is an excellent math teacher.
Very Good Teacher! Very Clear VEry Helpful. Do the homework and show up to class and you should do fine.
Great instructor; well organized and clear. Takes the time to answer students questions without getting off track. Do the homework. Would recommend.
UGGGGGHHHHHHHH....Doug is better...
Gives a test every other week. Hardly enough time to absorb the material in my opinion.
He explains very well and ask if you have question all the time. You can never say you didn't hear him say something.
Very clear and concise. He comes across as angry (or at least very serious) when he teaches but he's a really nice, gentle soul who cares about his students.
He is good in every way, he teaches perfectly, I would def. recommend him. He gave me an A+ and is very friendly. He makes sure you know what he is talking about. I love his teaching!
Mr. Namekata is by far the best math teacher i have ever had. He has a way of explaining things to make them simple to understand. He cares very much for his students. I would highly recommend him to anybody.
I took him for both math 35 and math 52. His teachings are crystal clear, he does every problem step by step. I would def take his class again
Mr Namekata is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He is very helpful and will go over homework problems in class step by step. Will make fun of you if you ask a silly question. Loves to joke around.
I really disliked this class and this teacher. He was discouraging and seemed like he didnt care. His tests had both easy and hard questions on them. More then 80% of your grade was on your tests and quizzes. I wouldn't tell anyone to take this class.
great teacher math has never benn taught so clear and very understanding
Mr. Namekata is a great teacher. He speaks very clearly, using proper grammar. He shows each math problem step by step so we can learn slowly, and is open to any questions and to going over problems multiple times. He keeps to the subject with little joking, maintaining focus. Overall a great teacher and i will be taking him again
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME teacher! Gives a good challenge without expecting anything ridiculous. Getting an A isn't easy but it isn't impossible either. Super nice guy. Explains the material very well. Obviously cares about his students. One thing is for sure, if you take a math class with him, you will be well prepared for the next one.
Great teacher! This teacher explains material very well. He is always there for his students and is open to assist students after class and office hours. I took his class for HYBRID which I recomment.Anyone who takes him will understand the material with ease. However, do the HOMEWORK it will be very helpful.Homework is easy in hybrid classes.
I took his hybrid class, one day a week. This class covers a lot of material in a three hour sitting. Don't take this class if you are like me. I am a little slower at math, and need time to process information. This class moves very quickly.
He is really funny and will help you if you have any questions. The only problem that I had was that I took his hybrid class so it was only 2 hours a week which really sucked because it math you need lecture to understand. I was always in the math lab only because it was hybrid but he is a great professor and very patient.
I took Mr. Namekata's math 52 class for winter session and it was a lot of work, but he was very helpful the test mainly consist of homework problems and what you learned in class. He gives you problems to work on so that you actually get it. Great instructor!
He is black or white. There is no inbetween. No late HW allowed. 20 Question Tests worth 100pts. Random surprise 5 question quizzes. Took it over 6 weeks. Loads of HW each night. Moves at a very fast pace, but can be done. He's open for many questions. Will help if you confront him. Friendly guy. Excellent at math;may skip steps sometimes.
He is a good instructor, and very clear. However all homework and tests are done online. I did not retain information as good as I did in a classic pen and paper setting. Still, he was very direct and did not allow bozos to interrupt class. (I got an F) He was not to blame for my grade, my learning style made the class difficult.
Professor is helpful in that he reviews homework problems and works each problem out on the board in detail. Taking this class over the winter was VERY difficult, so I dropped it. 4 hours in class 4 days a week and 8 hours of homework a night was too much. I would take this professor during a regular semester as his teaching style is very clear.
He's a good teacher and direct BUT I suggest taking him at a normal class pace instead of hybrid. In hybrid he's quick and kind of difficult to keep up especially with tons of work which piles up, since we also have other classes. Don't miss class because he won't cover material that was covered a while back.
He's a great professor. He is so clear and encourages that you ask questions. He goes over homework and his tests are very relevant. Since I took his winter class it was extremely hard. You HAVE to study. If you can take the class during Fall or Spring, do it.Much easier. He's also teaching Calculus so.I plan to take that with him.Highly Recommend him
Mr. Namekata is a really helpful instructor. He will usually go over the material when you don't understand it. It is important to do your homework because his tests are mostly based off of homework questions. He is also friendly, when i see him out of class he always says hi :)
I took his math 35 hybrid class. I averaged an A on all the homework and a B on the quizzes but his tests were so difficult and worth so many points that it caused me to get a low D in the class. And this was my second time taking this course. I would not recommend.
Dr. Namekata was easily the best math teacher i've ever encountered. He explains everything directly from the book which is a good thing because if you forget something from class you can refer to the book and it should make sense. He makes sure his students understand the material and his level of clarity is unmatched.
Took him for summer and his class was amazing! Homework and lecture notes are directly related to the tests. He'll also give a random quiz prior to each to help you prepare. Always willing to go over problems before class and after. Best math professor hands down.
he is hands down the best math teacher around. I'm finishing up his winter session class and have managed As on all my tests. Mind you this is a HARD CLASS HW is a MUSt! Especially in the accelerated format but he is very clear concise and to the point. He will tell you only what you need to know gives tons of examples to make sure you understand.
He talk really loud... Which caused me a lot of headaches. His favorite line is "do you understand." I think he could have explained things a lot better and in easier ways. I don't recommend his hybrid class if you aren't the best at math.
Mr. Namekata is the best math teacher at Moreno Valley. I have taken 2 math classes with him, after having bad experiences with other teachers. I want him to teach the next class for me.
Mr. Namekata explains concepts and materials in class in a way that no other teacher could teach. His examples are clear and straight to the point. He talks loud, which is good so that I don't fall asleep in class. He often asks questions of his students in class, but doesn't embarrass students. He encourages class participation during lecture.
One of the best math professors I've ever had. His lessons are clear, he explains everything to the t and he also is willing to meet with you for tutoring.
This semester was clearer and easy to understand math. This professor is AWESOME!!! He is loud, but that is so you can hear him from the back of the room. That is where I sit, but the girls all sit up in the front rows of his class.
He is ok,need to ask questions,he's cocky haha when he has teachers edition ok., Exams R based on hmwk that is done, Exams=60%, Hmwk=15%, Final=25%, he reads Ratemyprofessor, so he says, He's loud so be aware, He's cool sometimes but eh idk his attitude sometimes is not cool. took him for summer and it is super fast and alot of hmwkso be prepared.
Mr. Namekata is very clear and easy to understand. His exams are very similar to the required homework. You must do the homework to do well in his class. Took this class during the summer and he gives 3-5 hours of homework a night. But that is what I expected with a 5 unit math class, and math is not my strongest subject.
Mr. Namekata is one of the best math instructors at Moreno Valley College. I have taken this class twice, failed both times. This time I am earning an A or B, but I am working hard for that grade. I know that Mr. Namekata is making the math easier to understand through his explanations and examples in class.
DONT TAKE THIS MAN!! I hate his class!! its the worst math class i have ever taken! his explanations are not that bad, but his tests kills you!
Math not my strongest area. And finally im able to understand thanks to him. He makes it easy to follow and answers questions. Im definitely going to take all my math classes with him
Mr. Namekata is tough, but if you pay attention in class and take notes, you will do just fine. He explains things very clear and in details. He always asks if anyone has questions, and doesn't make you feel dumb if you ask a question in class. Very helpful.
Mr. Namekata is one of the best math instructors that I have taken at Moreno Valley College. His tests are challenging, but if you pay attention in class and do the homework, you will do just fine.
Best math instructor at MVC.
This is my first time taking Mr. Namekata's class. Wow! He is awesome! Very clear and to the point. Funny at times, but can be serious too. His voice is loud and clear and definitely keeps you awake at 8am.
I am not good at math. I never have been. Namekata is a nice guy, and he might be good for someone that is decent at math and can get most of it on their own, but for someone that struggles, he goes way too fast and doesn't answer questions clearly. There is also a lot of homework. I ended up dropping right before the 2nd exam.
Mr. Namekata is a very good professor. I learn some things in the class before I dropped him due to low grades on test. It has been a while since I've took Math 63 way back in 2006 with a different professor. I was failing Math 64 with Namekata I told him my situation and he recommend that I should do the modules. Which I did and it help.
Not the easiest class. It's not him, it's the material. He taught the algebra very well. I would've never gotten it from any other teachers I've had in the past. AMAZING teacher. I actually did understand it. Tests are the hard part. Make sure to study. Nothing new on the tests. But studying will be key to passing. Do the homework to help you.
His class was not easy, but if you pay attention to lecture and do the homework that he assigns, you should be ok for the tests. His tests are like the homework problems. He tells you that. I should have gotten a higher grade than I did, but I didn't do all of the homework and it showed.
I am in Mr. Namekata's MAT 35 class this semester. Although he has only given us one test so far, I can tell that his tests are tough. But if you do the homework, and I didn't do all, you should do just fine. His exams are like the homework and lecture problems. No games, just straight math problems that he expects that you should be able to do
Mr. Namekata's class is great! I have never been good at math, and I am still not. But he make class fun and enjoyable. I am actually learning math this time.
He gives clear instructions & really helps you try to understand. You can always ask for help! Really easy to talk to, makes math a lot easier. Gives optional pop quizzes but goes as extra credit to next test so why not take it?! (: YOU AREN'T REQUIRED TO ACTUALLY DO HW. If you want to just write the answers then so be it, its your grade!
moves too fast
Namekata is a cool guy and he's good at what he does. This class was my first math class and boy did I struggle. I'm a slow learner and he taught too fast. He wasn't too willing to help you out if you didn't get it after a while. I couldn't handle it and I dropped. If you're a slow learner, avoid this guy.
I took Namekata during the summer session. He moves very quickly, but I was expecting this since it is a 6 week class. We covered 4-5 sections a night and he gives a lot of homework. Don't take any other classes if you take this class during the summer, because you spend a lot of time outside of class working on math. He is cool.
Took this class during the summer session. Very long classes with a lot of material. I do not suggest taking this in the summer if math is a harder subject for you. Its a VERY fast class. 3-5 sections a day... and yes we go through the entire book. 6-8 hours of homework a night. He is a great teacher. Put in the effort, show up to class and pass
I took him this past summer and the class was 4 hours long. It was torture! He's not a horrible professor, however, it seems he gets a kick out of the fact that students don't get the material right away. He said things like, "If you think this section is hard just you wait for next week! (with a smile)". I was literally 6% away from passing.
I took MAT 35 this winter session for 6 weeks. It was hard! There is a lot of homework, but his lectures are clear. He explains all of the material in a way that is easy to understand, but the tests cover too much material. I understand that this class is accelerated, but 4-5 hours of homework per night?!?! Really?
He is one of the best math teachers I have taken at Moreno Valley College.
The test are very hard .. Even after a long week of studying before the exam it was still very difficult for me . He moves very fast even when you don't understand something. I thought I was good in math until I took him I wouldn't suggest anyone taking him unless your in honors .
His exams are tough, but if you do the homework, you should be fine. He takes problems from the homework and changes numbers around. Lots of homework.
I am not good in math. Hard class, but if you work hard at it, he makes is easy. Lots of homework, but test are like homework.
I took him for summer class and it was hard. Lots of homework every night. Test every week. Final exam is over everything.
I took him on a winter semester and I had been out of school for almost a decade. I tested into this class, so I'm not too bad in math over all. He moves so fast that by the time you begin to understand he is already on the next thing. He gives you a ridiculous amount of HW and hard tests almost every week. I even took tutoring and still got a D!
Had him this summer. Very helpful and clear lectures. I would take him again.
Mr. Namekata was caring and approachable for the entire semester. I am so happy I found him to be a great Math teacher. Often enough with out being asked he would dumb down the math strategies to give us a clearer picture. Definitely would have taken him for Mat37 & 12 if you had it.
I took him for summer and the class was great! Fast paced, but I knew that and he told you this on the first day. People who complained about him going to fast are dumb. Its summer and accelerated.
Mr. Namekata should teach more of the Calculus classes at Moreno Valley. I took him for MAT 1A and he is clear and organized. He gives you a schedule on the first day of class so you know when your test are.
Great professor, attendant to students' needs, and makes sure everyone understands before moving on. Nice guy, but very firm. Explains problems clearly and concisely. Sometimes moves quickly. Assigns LOTS of homework for every lesson, but you have plenty of time to get it done. Non-mandatory pop quizzes can help exam grades.
He is good! Very clear and to the point.
Very clear!
Mr. Namekata is very caring. He want you to understand material. He ask all time, is there any question? Makes sure you understand before moving on.
Good teacher. You must show up to class!
He gives you a lot of homework, but the exams are same as homework. Do your homework and you get good grade on test.
Lots of homework, but he answers your questions in class or office hours
He is there to help you.
He is tough, but if you pay attention, you will understand.
Let me start by saying this... MATH is not MY THING! I placed into elementary algebra and i took NAMEKATA. At first I really disliked him because he is so strict, blunt, and has high expectations. BECAUSE OF HIS TEACHING STYLE I AM CURRENTLY TAKING HIM IN MATH35! Youll learn so much with this professor, hell have you REALLY learn the material!
I HATE Math and I am not good at it. I didn't like how much homework was in Namekata class, but if you work at it, he will answer any question you have. Sometimes he goes fast, but that is what I thought it should be in 6 week class. A lot of homework from this guy. Tests are fair.
Took Namekata for Calculus back in 2015. Got a C, but I was lazy. I didn't do the homework and now I think I should. But if you do the homework and you listen, you will do good.
Mr. Namekata is a very strict professor, but he is willing to teach you . He does expect you to learn fairly quickly and grasp things so he can keep to his schedule if you're not good at math I wouldn't recommend him because it is fast pace, you have to grasp What he's teach, apply it, and remember it for tests.
He is good. Lots of homework
Mr. Namekata is one of the best math instructors I have ever taken. He is patient and caring, and will help you if you go to office hours. He gives fair tests.
Mr. Namekata's calculus class was a lot to remember. But if you want to take higher level math, you need to be prepared for toughness. He is tough and lots of homework.
Just finished the final for namekata math class. Its hard, asks a lot of questions but fair.
Mr. Namekata is my teacher right now in summer and I like the way he explain. He is clear and ask if you have question. When students have questions, he answers clear and explains well.
Sooo much homework. Tests are pretty hard. Hes kind of annoying in his lectures. He goes very fast and moves on before you even have time to form a question. I recommend u take another professor.
Awesome professor. He is interactive, easy to understand, and really cares about you understanding the material. Word of advice: if you do the homework, you WILL pass.
Great math teacher. He is clear and explains well. You need to pay attention in class or you will be lost.
No study guides. You have to be able to learn fast/ teach yourself at times. Theres homework for every section. Tests make up majority of grade.
Mr namekata teaches good. He is heavy on exam, no open book, no notes and lots of homework. If you keep up with homework, you can do good. If you miss class, you will struggle. He answers questions, but only if students have questions to ask. 85 % of grade is based on tests.
Most of your grade is on test. He give homework every section. Lots of problems, but he answer your question. He is clear and talks loud.
Took Mr Namekata during fall. He covers the math book from cover to cover, does not leave anything out! He grades based upon your answer. If right, full credit. If wrong and show your work, you may get partial credit. Tons of homework! No curve in grades. Never was consulted regards to; in danger of failing. Went everyday, did All hmwk. Very Strict
He is clear in his talking. He explains well. I got a B which is good for me.
He is such a great professor. If you do not understands a question he will go through it without making you feel insecure in taking this course. He cares about your knowledge. Do not miss the first day of class.
Mr Namekata is the best professor in math. He is clear and explains things that I wouldn't be able to understand. He is funny guy. Sometimes to serious though.
Mr. Namekata is a good Professor and does explain things well, The only thing that I will complain is that it is a fast paced class and he does expect you to understand fairly quickly. Make sure you study outside of class because there is no open book, no calculators, or study guides, he does expect you to remember all the formulas.
This is my 2nd class with namekata. He is the best. Talks alot and gives final exam that cover everything from class. Tests are fair. He expect you to remember all formulas. Good teach that prepare you for the next class.
if you need any help, dont expect it from him. He sometimes questions your motives when it comes to commenting on his methods. Its not fun being a student when a teacher doesn't have study guides to help us in what to expect. Dont slack on his work. You definitely need no social life 2 pass his class.
I took Mr namekata's calculus class and didn't pass. He is tough, ton of homework, and he expects you to do it all. Doesn't collect homework, but gives quizzes in class that have problem similar to homework. Fair grading, but you must show your work. He doesn't let you use a calculator. Everything done by hand.
Mr Namekata is good. I took him for summer and it was lot of work. Homework every night. Test every week. He goes really fast, but he cover the entire book during summer. I will take him again because he clear and explain good.
Loved the online homework. Gives you multiple chances on the homework to get the right answer and hints if you have trouble. Mr. Namekata creates his own youtube videos for lectures which I can pause, and watch over and over. Love it!
He help me this class. I never good at math but he helps alot.
He helps you understand math. I have taken this class 2 times before and never learn math until now.
Prof Namekata is definitely a great teacher. I find his lectures very easy to understand and I am able to complete his homework no problem. However, Namekata has absolutely no compassion. If you have technology issues its not his problem, you fail. If your family member passed away a day before an exam, its not his problem. Show up or fail.
Namekata made it seem as though I was passing. Out of nowhere I ended up with an F! I went in for tutoring, office hours and everything. Tests are graded very harsh, I do not recommend, nor will I ever take him again. Re-took the class with someone else and got a B.
He gives you work to do every week. Homework is just like lecture. He give test that are just like homework. Alot to remember. He is good at explaining and ask if you have questions. Doesn't make you feel dumb.
Take him if you want to learn math. Makes you earn you grade. Tests are just like homework. Took him during COVID19 and he gives zoom lectures that you don't have to go to only if you want to.
Hes one of the hardest Math Teachers in the school. Not only will he embrace you in class for asking a question you should know, He gives you faces and say " I dont understand what you are saying" Over and over, at sometimes students just give up. He needs to be more friendly and stop acting like his MVP teacher of the year
Took this class in Pandemic year 2020. Very tough grader, and it was hard to keep up with him because it didn't seem like he was approachable. The study sessions were with other classes that were not my class so It was overwhelming. Test time he would be looking at everyone and homework was busy work and I did not catch on right away.
Namekata gives tests like the homework problem. But a lot of homework problems to do. But if you ask him questions, he explains to you. Just ask him how to do problems and he will help you.
This is the second class with Mr. Namekata. He cares about you learning and will explain things over and over again. He trys to make you practice the problems. but he will help you when you have trouble, but you have to ask him. He makes his videos online so you can watch when you want and has zoom sessions (not requred). He is good.
Gives out week long homework assignments that are only worth 10 points which is a huge waste of time. The exams are proctored 2 hour long zoom meetings and there are only like 10 questions. Its not worth even doing the hw since the exams are more than 20% of your grade. Its too much for an online course and Im never taking his classes again.
He assigns 4 different sets of homework to be done in 3 days and then only gives 10 points, and if you don't have everything he claims should be there, he'll give you 5 even if its one problem done wrong. He also doesn't help you and tends to belittle your knowledge and ability to understand
this teacher doesn't seem approachable, gives out too much homework only for it to be 10 points, tried being approachable and friendly towards him yet he just simply ignores or doesn't care. He has youtube videos that don't even explain the problems well and just goes straight to the point. Never taking a class with him ever again!
If you want to learn calc, take this prof. He is strict, but he explains clear and good. He gives extra credit problems on tests only. Test on every chapter and weekly quiz.
Unfortunately I dont feel I did well at all because I was so busy trying to keep up with all the homework which counts very minimal that I didnt have much learning time & just rush rush through it & I cant learn that way, I wish tests were after every chapter & not a bunch of chapters all together, It hurt my grade alot, no extra credit offered ;-(
Honestly, if you want a life and want to actually do well with the time you have for math, please do not take him. It just baffles me how he teaches his class with how he wants you to know everything in such a short amount of time. As well as using the " you should've learned this. " quote when a student doesn't understand something.
the structure of the class doesnt work imo. His homework is 3 chps a day which is graded for credit making it pointless. For a accelerated course its dumb he collects HW as the time should be spent studying but instead when asked he says we should be grateful we get credit. It doesnt make sense to me. I learned from YT. Not his videos.
He answers questions during his discussion. If you need help, just ask him. He will show you how to do the problems.
He explains the problems if you ask him to. Has online lectures that are not required to attend, but at least offered.
DO NOT TAKE 6-week class! 19/45 students 42% dropped first week wasting our time and losing $ for the school. Unreasonable and difficult learning environment especially if you'd like to retain the info for further classes. Massive homework 150+ prob/day worth 10% of grade while 10 ques tests 90% of grade. Other prof had no drops in comparison.
Mr. Namekata offers help if you ask him. He has zoom sessions that are not required, but he will answer questions
Mr. Namekata is the best math teacher! He is available for help outside of class. The students that complain does not try. You have to do homework to practice. His exam is like the homework questions.
The professor is nice and has a well-structured schedule of the tests and hw. However, his quizzes and exams are very difficult and doesn't curve them. Some of the questions are similar to the hw, but most are structured to throw you off even if you're confident. HW isn't part of the grade, it's all exams. Class size dropped over half to 19.
Professor Namekata is a great professor!!! He truly cares for students' success and is willing to help them out however he can. Professor Namekata's simple class structure and educational lectures are the best part. I personally recommended his online office hours if you can because he is able to break down homework and exam problems in more depth.
RUN,I was in your place wanting a good math prof and came across him.He grades on weekly quizzes and chptr exams.Quizzes are 15 mins(2 questions 10 points,5 each),(exams,10-15)helps in his office hours but has condescending tone.Studied 50 hrs weekly but useless.Hw is harder than the questions he solves in class, took another prof & got 98
Professor Namekata explains good. If you have questions, you can ask during class. Doesn't make you feel dumb and will explain more than one time if you need him to. If you pay attention and take notes, you will do just fine.
Best math professor ever
Best math professor ever. You earn your grade. He actually cares about you learning/retaining the material. Your hw is your study guide, so do it because the exam questions are from hw. Go to office hours for help and the math lab. You can pass if you try. For those who gave Namekata a poor rating because of your entitlement, good luck in life.
RUN AWAY! I stumbled upon him when looking for a top math instructor. Exams run for two hours, and each question is worth ten points. His demeanor is patronizing! Even if the solution was right, you wouldn't get credit if you approached the work problem in a different way than how he taught you. Gives no indication of the test's topic.
Ive been taking this class for about a month maybe a bit more, i once asked him for help and he said i had to do my own reasearch, the videos he makes on how to do certain equations are extremely unhelpful, tests are worth 60% of your grade, most of the time he has no idea what hes doing making it harder for us trying to pass. do not take his class
He tries to help students who want to learn. I went to his office for help and he show me how to do the problem without making me feel dumb. I want to learn and get good at math. If you want to learn math, take him. If you want it easy, don't take.
He creates easy to follow lecture videos. The technology videos are easy to follow.
RUN. The most non-approachable professor I've experienced in the RCCD district. 60% of your grades are exam, 20% is the final, and 20% is hw. Exams have obscure equations you don't touch on sometimes. Videos walk you through concepts at least. Had health concerns and he told me to retake the class later. It is required to be on zoom for exams.
Prof. Namekata is very good at what he does. His lectures can be tough if you fall behind because he will not explain something to you if he feels it's something you should already know.Homework basically does nothing to your grade but his exams will destroy your grade if you don't do well, you must study thoughout the entire semester to not fail!
You need to put in LOTS of effort to understand concepts. Do all the homework, daily quizzes (summer sem) were based off homework problems, numbers were just changed a little. Gives partial credit on exams, lets you scan the test and talk with other classmates about the problems before taking it. Easy to understand, very straightforward methods.
Professor Namekata's class is challenging but rewarding. While exams are tough, his lectures and office hours are super helpful. unstuckstudy was a game-changer for exam prep.
Professor Namekata is a great teacher but his class is so challenging. He gives good lectures but there is so much information that you have to learn and retain. The exams are detrimental to your grade that you have to literally eat, sleep, and breathe the material 24/7 to get a good score. I wouldn't recommend taking if you can't handle stress.
pay attention
Professor Namekata was a good professor. The test was held on Zoom & was a bit difficult bc he wanted to make sure he could see you in your entirety during the test. There were a lot of questions per section for hw. I would recommend finding a class you can take in person because there is a lot of information if you aren't the best at math.
Namekata expects you to remember everything from pre-cal and college algebra, and only reviews pre-cal material for 2 days. For most students, this unfortunately puts them in a tough spot, and he makes it clear if you don't study for 10hrs+, then this class isn't going to be easy or even passable. No calculators or index cards either.
prob a skill issue, but I hated his class. I took it twice, dropped the second time. He's just a mid lecture teacher, and his tests felt nothing like the exams. He also feels unapproachable, and if you're bad at math i don't recommend his class. HW doesn't help your grade but is mandatory. 3 exams 60% of grade 20% final. Fail 1, just give up lol
His lectures are amazing! He explains topics clearly and will stop to answer questions without making you feel like an idiot. He also uses active learning in lectures, which he will put students in small groups and work on homework problems during class together. I have never had a professor use active learning before. I love it.
He's a very tough grader and rarely gives you partial credit for the exams , if you make mistakes on those exams its going to hurt your grade very badly, I wouldn't recommend taking this class if you can't handle strict grading.
He explains good, but lots of homework. If you want to do good study homework problems.
If you are struggling with basic concepts of algebra, Professor Namekata will help you overcome that problem. He may first establish a strong decipline in the classroom, but he will later on loosen up the mood and enable everyone to participate. One thing you have to worry is that you should not hesitate to ask questions and not just move on. GLHF!
