Mr Ormord makes his self clear and understood. He focuses on the subject matter and does not ramble on other topics. He is not only helpful to the students from his class, but to all students in general.

Everyone goes into O Chem knowing that it is not an easy course. James is a great professor and is very educated in the subject. His exams and quizzes are very difficult though and require an EXTREMELY solid understanding of the material in order to do well. This course is more than memory, you must understand each topic in order to succeed.

Professor Ormord is an awesome professor and lab instructor. He is very clear with explaining the material and (very^3) helpful. He dedicates his time encouraging students to learn and master the material. Quizzed and Exams are challenging--but fun if you understand the material. Not very good at the game Chess --But brilliant with chemistry.

James is a great lab professor! I like the fact that he knows were undergrads and he does not count against us if we do not get a high yield or something goes wrong in lab. As long as we are able to explain why and how we could fix it next time, he is very understanding about it. He helped alot with questions I had with Ochem lecture too.

I'm not really sure why he has a low rating! Prof Ormord is actually one of the better Chem Prof. at CSN. He gives study guides that give you a similar idea of what the exam will look like and his lectures are very thorough! Im taking Chem 121 now with a different Prof. and wish he was teaching it!! He made things very easy :)

This guy is the real deal. Most of the Chem teachers at CSN are older in age and can be un-inspired at times. Ormord is young, fresh and was a student not too long ago. He is on top of his game when it comes to chemistry, whether it's lab or lecture. I recommend taking him for CHEM 103, 121/122 labs.

Ormord gives you every opportunity to pass but you must take the initiative to review your notes every day and study. Ochem is really hard. He is sometimes confusing during lectures but he encourages questions, so be sure to ask them! This class is do-able. Never give up!

Seriously, the easiest chemistry class I have ever taken. Easier than high school. Just take decent notes, listen to what he's explaining, and review before tests. I finished with like 106% because of all the extra credit he gives on quizzes and the online assignments. This is a great intro to chem class. If given the choice, I'd take him again.

I have had James since Chem 121. By far the best at explaining difficult topics. Yes o. chem is hard, but he puts the effort into the students' success and understanding. He is always willing to help if you have questions. My recommendation is to go to class, supplement lecture with reading the book, and ask as many questions as you can.

I would say he is the best online teacher I've had to far. Lessons were very clear, he went in detail with every chapter. You have the same assignments every week and he is very clear with what you need to do and when. Would love to take him again. Two assignments a week, one test every three weeks. Easy to learn.

Great teacher! Explains tough concepts very well and goes over several examples. Also, if you put in the work, he recognizes it and gives extra credit! He is very nice. I liked him a lot. I was scared of chemistry, but ended up liking it a lot. Show up to class and study and you should get an A or B. Tests are hard though.

Professor Ormord is a remarkable professor and loves organic chemistry. He goes the extra mile to ensure you understand the subject matter. He visits the tutoring center daily for hours on end to assist students in learning and understanding O Chem. This is a tough subject, but if you have to study daily to be effective in O Chem. Great class.

OCHEM is a really hard class. James won't make it any easier, but he understands how rough it is and is willing to help. Form a study group and go to his office hours and you'll make it through the class just fine. His labs are pretty easy, but prepare to do some write-ups. Try to take him for both 241 and 242. He's the best in Las Vegas.

Organic Chemistry is a difficult class or course of study. I was fortunate to have Professor Ormord for Chem 220, 241 and 242. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Organic Chemistry and teaching. He truly took a difficult subject and made it digestible and easy to learn. If you are going to take O Chem, take Professor Ormord.

I took professor Ormord for CHEM 241 & 242. Honestly, I'm glad I took this class with Ormord but I end up hating organic chemistry a lot because it was very Challenging. Be prepared to study and YES I highly recommend him!!!

Bends over backwards to help with a difficult subject- you can't expect to take this class from anyone and expect to not have it be difficult. But Professor James goes above and beyond to help make the mate"click".

James will lecture you on everything you need to know. He assigns a sufficient amount of homework but you need to study questions from the book as well. Available during office hours to help you with questions and will try his best to help you understand difficult topics. Ochem is only hard if you don't try and study.

Professor Ormord is a phenomenal instructor. He goes out of his way to make sure that we had plenty of resources, he posts his notes online and usually quick about handing things back. OCHEM is a hard class though and you still need to put your work in to do well!

I took this professor for CHEM 105 online. The class is very well structured and the grading criteria was clear, something I appreciated in an online course. This class required quite a bit of reading and some research online on my own but overall it was about what I expected from a science course.

However, reviewing the textbook is a must if you want an A. He gives plenty of extra credit. I highly recommend this professor.

I took CHEM 220 as a way to prepare for CHEM 241 and wasn't sure what to expect. Prof Ormord is incredibly laid back for someone teaching classes this hard. James understands this class is hard and does his best to make sure we have plenty of resources, gives tips on what to look for during an exam and encourages questions in and outside class!

This was my first Chem class I have ever taken and Professor Ormord made it pretty easy to understand. There are a few online discussions to participate in. However most of the class work was through the online portal which I liked There's several handwritten activities to complete as well. But if you read the book you will do well in this class!

He is a wonderful professor! A science online class over the summer is never easy, but Profesor Ormord made it easy to understand. We had lots and lots of homework. We had a quiz for every chapter. Five exams in total. He gives extra credit so it helps. I did not dedicate much studying to this class and science is not my strength and still passed.

I took this professor for CHEM 105 online. There was a ton of homework, much more than I expected for a gen ed class, but it was clear what he expected from us. He gave us reminders for things, which I liked :)

This professor was very good in lectures and explained things thoroughly. It was actually a pretty easy class. The only reason I got a B is because I had to put this class on the back burner for my biology class, otherwise I would have gotten an A. He gives extra credit points just for even coming to exams. It's easy to pass this class.

Really clear and great lectures. Gave extra credit on every single exam and the final. 4 exams and quizzes. The homework, although annoying, will help you understand the topics better. He is really great. I was going through a lot of family issues, and he was super understanding. Posts powerpoint, helpful worksheets, and practice exams/quizzes.

Hes an amazing professor, I would defneiley recommend him for chemistry classes. Hes extremely passionate and knowledgeable. I have taken him for General and Organic chemistry and hes amazing in both. I will say, he is way funnier in organic then general. He uses a projector to write and post all his notes online.

I really enjoy this class even if it is very difficult. Prof Ormord provided us with tons of practice in class and things online. He really does care about his students. If you think hes going too fast then ask questions as he encourages it. Dont bother buying the textbook, the workbook and the lecture was enough.

He gives us tons of resources, has long office hours in tutoring area, posts his lectures online on Youtube, has hard worksheet problems online. Prof James really helped me pass this class. I went regular to his office hours. He was usually was helping people in his harder classes but he didn't seem to mind at all helping me as well. He gave us tips to pass this class that most of my classmates ignored. His grading was very clear This class is not an easy A! You need to work for it!

Professor wass always avail for assistance. Online videos available were very helpful in understanding material. You do have to study alot, the material is challenging

Professor has the entire semester on his YouTube channel so if you miss something in class you can just go watch the video for that lecture. He also posts several years of old exams and lecture notes on Canvas. This class was incredibly easy for college level. My high school chem was harder.

Prof Ormord is a great instructor, this material is difficult and the 220 class over the summer is intense. Professor Ormord was available for office hours and had alot of supplemental resources available, you have to study alot and put in the time to pass the class.

Just starting out in this online class but so far it seems pretty straight forward. Chapter a week with homework and quiz, exam every 3 weeks. Just follow one link at a time in Canvas. Seems like alot of reading so you gotta stay on top of it. I wanted to take this Prof in person but apparently he doesn't even teach it in person, only online.

Professor Ormord holds his office hours in the tutor center most days which makes him easily accessible for questions. If you attend class and visit the tutor center regularly you are sure to pass his class. The class is test heavy and has a lot of quizzes, but the quizzes help you to understand the material unequivocally by exam time.

you can not expect the professor to do all the work, and spoon feed you the material, you need to be an active students and study. you need to spend time studying (I red the book) if you want to pass this or any other class. I do not even speak good English and got an A, so what is your excuse? He gives lot of extra credits, is funny and caring.

Best ochem instructor in Vegas .What makes him better is he understands the complexity of ochem and gives extra credit opportunities and test boost if you do the corrections. Of course the course is still difficult but you need to actually study and cant expect to learn ochem from a lecture. bad reviews are from those who dont study and get salty

James is a great lab instructor. Hell answer any questions you have and isnt insanely strict on grading lab material. As long as you do the lab work and conclusion reports youll get an A. He also drops the lowest lab score too so if you need time to study for a test in lecture because its ochem, you could miss one lab and not lose your grade.

O chem is not easy regardless who you take. But Ormord gives you options to get some bonus points and offers multiple choice. Not a bad choice to take him.

This semester was crazy and all of the CHEM 242 classes were combined. Professor Ormord stepped up held live virtual lectures that were very informative. Make sure that you attend class because there is a lot of content but there are plenty of examples done in lecture two really grasp concepts. I would take again.

Amazing and COOH O-chem is by no means an easy subject, you have to be prepared to put in the work if you want a good grade but he makes learning this material easier by providing connections to what we have already learned. Don't get the college text book but instead get the one he recommends its much more helpful when studying. Also great memes.

In what was a very difficult semester given lockdown's and the inability to make things like office hours Prof. Ormord put in fantastic effort in coordinating online lectures for the second half of the semester. For those of us who were able to improvise and hang in till the end he provided a fantastic class given circumstances. Would take again!

Does not require you to buy the textbook. He creates his own original content as well as textbook produced slides. But let me repeat: he creates his own original content. He takes time out of his day to regurgitate material for us students to make sure we understand, and if you still dont: he still welcomes questions. Amazing & caring professor.

Was lucky to get into CHEM108, even more lucky to enroll with Ormord. He uses PPTs from the textbook in lectures and doesn't require us to use the textbook. He grades participation. There's weekly quizzes and 5 exams. He did a nice job transitioning us to online. I recommend not slacking at the start of the semester, I almost learned it the hardway

The class was difficult especially in the summer. The lecture was difficult knowing this was done online. Overall the professor did a good job in doing zoom and YouTube videos. He helps a lot when you are confused doing lecture. I will definitely take him again for future Organic Chemistry. He is very helpful!

Has study sessions outside of class. Weekly quizzes, chance for exam extra credit. Don't waste your time/money taking ochem with anyone else!

O chem is tough no matter who your professor is, but relative to the other chemistry teachers Ive had, Prof Ormord is by far the most understanding of that. He also by far does the best job at explaining things simply, relating the concepts previously learned and making the material fun and interesting. I hate chemistry but enjoyed all his classes.

Prof. Ormord makes o chem bearable to the point that I didn't dread going to lecture. He is one of the most entertaining professor I have had and explains the material clearly. If you stay caught up on the material and study (doing extra homework problems, joining a study group, going to SI and participating, etc) you'll end up with an A.

So my grade is awful, but thats more to do with my personal difficulties than the class itself. Ormord puts in alot of effort to work with his students, the subject was just difficult for me to understand. Theres weekly discussions and quizzes that lead up to a unit exam about every month. Theres also a final exam. Just really try and practice!

Do yourself a favor and take Ormord for ochem! He is super chill and funny (chem memes), and his lectures are concise and focused on content that will be tested. He gives a few extra credit points too. Ochem is a hard class that requires a lot of study time, and Ormord definitely made it more bearable, in fact, enjoyable. Ill miss ochem. Go to SI

He was very interactive within the live lectures. He genuinely loves chemistry, therefore he will help you via discord or other means. He has a great attitude and it makes the students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging in the class. This is a hard class! It's chemistry... so what can you do?

Best ochem Prof in Vegas! Ochem is very difficult but James makes it bearable, easy to understand, and funny. He can do better with organizing his lec. Professor Ormord is the best organic chemistry professor in all of Las VegasHANDS DOWN!!!! He has a very practical approach to the subject and he doesn't believe in being what I call a "grade assassin." He was so great and after a nightmare run at o-chem at UNLV, he was like a breath of fresh air from day one. You're crazy if you don't take him!!

I started with a C at the beginning and I ended up getting a 110% because of the bonus points he had. His lectures are fantastic. He reviews quizzes and exams. We have 4 activity sheets and they are straightforward. Ormord is passionate at his job and makes the class interesting. It takes a lot of studying. There are 10 quizzes and 4 exams.

Professor Ormord is a really good professor, its just the material that is difficult. The online class is set up with a weekly discussion and quiz and there are 4 exams not including the final. The workload is pretty easy, but chemistry is never easy to learn. So put in the effort if you want a good grade! The CSN tutoring center was a big help!

I took chem 108 not chem 103 it didnt let me choose chem 108. I had him online and he records his lectures so if you dont make it you can rewatch it anytime you want! Exams were pretty much based off his PowerPoints and you do need to put time in studying and learning. He also let you use a cheat sheet on the exam which was super nice!

Great teacher. He goes a lot by the problems in the textbook, so if you can do those you should be able to get a good grade. He does talk a lot about himself, but I feel that makes him more relatable and easier to learn from. He has office hours multiple times per week.

Chemistry sucks in general and Professor Ormord did his best to make this class fun and engaging. It's three semesters of chemistry in one class. He does his best to help and go over material. I'd take him again. If you can just take chemistry by itself with no other classes so you can focus and study.

He was amazing even though Chemistry itself is tough he explained everything and skipped the nonsense or things he wasnt going to test us on. I thought professor Ormord made this class very easy and clear. We were usually given a discussion, homework assignment, and a chapter quiz each week for homework. As long as you complete all your work and study you will have no struggle passing this class.

Professor Ormord is a great teacher! He provides a lot of practice such as activity sheets, practice quizzes, and he has office hours. I personally found the supplemental instruction to be extremely useful. Quizzes and exams make up for most of the grade, but discussions help as well, and he provides bonus points at the end of the semester.

I don't usually do these but Professor Ormord was amazing. He gave us good amounts of extra credit and allowed us a sheet of paper that we could use for the exams. Good with technology unlike most professors sadly he doesn't teach chem 122 but anyone looking for a great chemistry Professor chooses him. He and Gardner and the best at CSN trust me.

Professor Ormord gave plenty of opportunities for extra credit, recorded his lectures so you could review them, provided practice material, and picked the most important material to teach (no nomenclature!). There's lots of math, as expected, and don't think you can breeze through without studying. No textbook and attendance is important!

He makes it possible to pass this class. If you show up, do the work and put in the effort, You will pass!! Get all the bonus points offered and discussion points! Watch videos attached to lectures and create cheat sheets for formulas/examples- which are allowed and I highly recommend taking full advantage of them! I would recommend taking him.

I really enjoyed Professor James. The class is challenging if you do not study, but he gives many extra credit opportunities. I would recommend getting the book but, it is not necessary because he uploads the slideshow along with extra videos and recorded lectures if you don't understand the subject for that week. Take Prof Ormord for OChem if you are in the Las Vegas area! He explains everything that will be on the test. The weekly quizzes help you recognize where you need to study. One sheet of notes is allowed on the test and online quizzes. Take good notes on his examples, ask for help and attend tutoring or SI, you can pass OChem if you put in the work.

100% recommend him for ochem. I took ochem 1 and 2 from him and he helped me understand it a lot more than I thought I was going to be able to. There are 4 in-class exams and a final plus quizzes for each test and the online portion of the test. He offers group work which is definitely helpful in preparing for exams. Take him if you get the chance

Professor is very fair when it comes to grading and homework, he always prepare you ahead of time before quizzes and exams. As long as you pay attention to his lectures which you should because they usually on the quiz or exam. Take good notes they come in handy!

Great professor! Offered a lot of extra credit on exams and allowed for a cheat sheet on all exams except the final. 4 exams, 1 final. Sometimes, the tests seemed to have content we did not cover, but the extra credit was enough to make up for it. Curves the final. If you can get him, take him.

Ochem is ROUGH! Take him if you can. His lectures are fast in class but they are recorded. Take notes in class & when you watch the recordings. Use Chad's Prep online as extra help. Office hours he is very helpful w/explaining the reactions. 4 unit test, each has 2 different online portions and a final for the grade. He does give some extra credit

Best lab instructor at CSN! Very helpful during class, walks around to help every group. Lab notebooks are not written out but drawn out step by step. It was a fun way to understand the lab. The lab reports are all online so save paper and bring in a tablet. Take him if you want a positive lab experience but don't expect grades back quickly.

The class is challenging but he allows cheat sheets for his quizzes. His exams will be similar to the assignment with a few questions difficult questions occasionally. His lectures can feel a little fast. Overall, just take notes on the lectures, watch the extra videos, and do the practice problems and you should be good. He does do extra points.

To start off, Ochem will be hard regardless of who you take. Professor Ormord takes the time to actually teach the material that is relevant. It is up to you to make sure you learn it and learn how to apply the material. Besides that, he gives a lot of chances, makes his lectures available online, and recommends life saving textbooks. Prof. James made CHEM108 easy. He uploads videos of his in-person classes and these videos make learning the topics easy. There are some occasional audio issues; however, if you join his Discord server, he quickly fixes the issues and provides extra resources to help you learn. Take his class!! You won't regret it.

Great Teacher who really cares. He will help you really understand concepts if you put in the effort, dont expect to be spoonfed, chem isn't easy but having him helps make it more manageable. Has a good balance of taking education seriously but keeping things lighthearted when appropriate. Classes fill up quickly because he's the best in Nevada.

I want to thank Professor Ormord for making my organic chemistry experience very smooth and easing my nerves about the course. By no means is the course easy BUT Professor Ormord truly puts his students first and with effort this class is doable! If it helps I took 4 other courses and worked part-time yet I still managed to do well.

I took chem his chem108 last semester and it was easy. Just do what you're supposed to do and study. He uploads videos of his lectures which was helpful. He assigned a lot of homework last semester and it was all easy. His unit exam gradually gets harder so work ahead with your homework. He is really passionate with teaching this class so enjoy!

Best OChem professor. He doesn't try to trick you. There are a lot of quizzes / tests. However, he reuses questions from quizzes, so if you study you will have a few give me questions. The class is hard. however, he is very reasonable and made my OChem experience great. thank you!

Professor Ormord has been my professor for 241 and 242. Organic Chemistry is one of the hardest classes I've taken. He does his best to make it as easy as possible. You have to Study. A lot.

I've taken Professor Ormord two times for Chemistry to improve my grade. Chemistry is a HARD class, and you MUST teach yourself outside of class. He is a nice, caring professor and does his best with the crazy amount of content that they forcibly cram into 108.He is fairly forgiving with grading and offers a nice amount of bonus points and curves.

I would say this was a pretty decent class. Everythings set up right from the start. 4 exams each with a corresponding quiz. Both had VERY SIMILAR questions so use the quiz to know whats tested on the exam. Exam pulls from worksheets, lectures, and textbook. The HW and worksheets sets u up nicely for the quiz/exams. But DO NOT CRAM/PROCRASTINATE.

I don't understand the hate this professor gets. It's chemistry, so you have to put in the work, but if you study and use the quizzes and worksheets, you'll do fine. He's fair, clear about what's expected, and gives you the tools to succeed. Take it seriously, and the class is manageable.

Attendance isn't mandatory since lectures are on Canvas, but going helps bc group work earns points. Homework is on Canvas and Macmillan (yes you pay), quizzes can be confusing but manageable. Lots of resources, exam practice, cheat sheet allowed (not on the final), and lots of extra credit! PLEASE go to tutoring, helps a lot, plus extra points!
