HE IS THE LAZIEST WORST TEACHER IN THE HISTORY OF MATH. DIDN'T DO A THING THE WHOLE SEMESTER AND USED THE HARDEST PROBLEMS ON TEST AND HOMEWORK.
I agree with the fist vote. Makes no effort to help students understand difficult information. Doesn't reply to e-mails in a timely manner. Came to class and spent 20 min trying to learn how to use his calculator.
I thought he was a very good teacher. He's a bit absentminded, but that's just the way some math/science people are.
Take a class from this guy and all your insomnia poblems will go away. Most boring professor ever. I've known more interesting lamppposts.
Hes not very clear on a lot of things and is not very helpful if your struggling. He often spends a lot of time on things that we didn't even need to know. Really just not a very good teacher.
Hard to follow. Not clear on a lot of topics. He wasn't in office during office hours. Not helpful when struggling. That is all I have to say about that.
UGH! The worst math professor ever. I'm quite proficient in math but he makes it so hard and complicated. It's difficult to understand what he is asking his students to know and understand. He was not helpful at all when a student had a question!
This class was not fun. He taught the class at his own pace. It was hard to get help when struggling.
Never take this class. I'm a person who always did really well in math and this man made it so extremely confusing. It was ridiculous. You have 4 exams and one final plus quizzes every Friday. I pretty much had to teach myself to prepare for these tests.
Try another professor. Too confusing. Operates on his own wavelength. He knows the material, he just cannot convey it!
worst class ever. He gets mad when a question is asked while he goes off on tangents that have nothing to do with anything.
Worst professor ever...Stay as far away as possible.
I never had a teacher so picky with their grading. It was difficult to complete a homework problem with the right answer and work shown, but still get half credit. He is way out there with his teaching. He knows the material but just can't teach it very well. He did seem a little more fair on the tests though. Overall, I don't recommend him.
Dr. Peters is a nice guy, he just doesn't know how to teach. He obviously knows his stuff but he is very confusing and if you ask him a question he will explainit to you in exactly the same way he did before. So he isn't much help if you get lost. Nice enough guy but if you struggle with math stay far, far away!
Dr. Peters was an ok teacher. The craziest thing was probably having quizzes every week but in the end they were very helpful. I don't think I would take another class from him...but he was ok! Nothing anybody couldn't get through.
Professor Peters was an ok math teacher. We used the book a lot and since it was an online class, we pretty much had to teach ourselves the math. He was probably one of the worst math teachers I've had, and I probably wouldn't take a class from him again unless I absolutely had to.
This professor refused to return my emails or phone calls when I had questions about the assignments. (I was taking online.) I called up to the night before the first test with no return call. Finally I gave up and tried the test. I failed. I withdrew from the class and ate the withdraw fee but it was better than continuing on.
Very unimpressed with this professor. makes problems that are very simple, into something that is much more complex just for the heck of it. Does not like to be told he did something wrong, or told, it is much easier than how you are doing it. Teaches methods that were valid 20 years ago.
this guy is way too busy to bother with a meaningless thing like wether the students understand the material or not.
Hardest Math teacher I have had. His problem is that he does not teach! He gets hard problems too. I do not think he could get an A in his own class!
This professor is a stange duck. He teaches like a computer. He just ramples off stuff, but does not try to help you understand it. This class made my life a living hell and the first grade I got lower then an A in 4 years. Stay far away from this class!!! I had only wish I had known about this site prior to fall of 08.

worst professor i've had! didn't care if students understood material or not. never explained things clearly. waste of time and money since i have to retake class. i asked if he would allow me to withdraw because i was failing, and he told me i should have studied harder even though i went to tutors, emailed for help, etc... don't take him!!!
I wish hard work was all it took with Dr. Peters. He is a mathematician, not a teacher. He is not capable of bringing down to a teachable level or even a different approach. If you are a mathematician you will be fine, if not, I would try someone else.
He is so confusing!!!! You try to ask him questions and he just makes you more confused; he talks to you like your retarded if you don't understand it.
Worst math teacher I have had. Quizzes every Friday, and he picks the hardest problem he came find to quiz you on. Doesn't test your understanding of concepts but whether you can solve ridiculous problems. Take it from someone else, calculus is not this hard.
taking this class from him was the worst decision i have made in three years of college. very easily the worst teacher i have had up thru Calc 3.
I unlike everyone else really liked him. I passed 1050 on the first try (and I am not good at math by any means) thanks to him
Very good teacher. To pass most math classes you have to do the homework. He doesn't require you do the homework, that's probably why people don't do very good. Calculus II is also not an easy class. Just work hard.
Ah Jimbo Peters. I liked him, yes he can be confusing but he is smart. He grades very clearly and fairly. Drops your 3 lowest homework grades and replaces your lowest test grade. Got an A. Just do some moderate studying and its easy. **Rely on the textbook more than the teacher* Overall not bad teacher. Just dont be a moron and you'll do good
Very nice person, but a terrible calc teacher. Seems like he WANTS to teach people but has never learned how. I've passed every math class I've ever taken with flying colors and for the first time might not get an A in a college course. No lecture plan, just reads the text verbatim. His class is basically an expensive group reading session.
This is actual math you would use in real life. Dr. Peters was extremely helpful and was very prompt with help.
Horrible! Didn't let us know until after the class started that we had to either buy the book new, or fork over $80 to use the online math xl program, which is confusing, complicated, slow and not user-friendly. He doesn't answer emails or follow through with arrangements. My class was online, and each of his exams was only open for one day.
He is a nice guy and very smart but he doesn't explain things very well. His grading is fair but he doesn't reach out to students very well and he assumes students know what he's talking about.
Excellent teacher if you are taking Calc for a 2nd time. If it is your first time, or you aren't really into math, pick a diff Prof. Very fair grading, very stimulating thoughts on topics, but very little foundation/basics are taught in the process. He expects you to remember everything from Geo/Alg/Trig, including formulas and "tricks".
Great teacher, loves his students and wants them to succeed, grades very fairly but you have to do your part and study like any math class.
Very clear on what he expects. Study and you will do well. Funny guy that seems to like what he's doing. Gives practice exams that are very helpful and also helps extra to make sure you're prepared for weekly quizzes by doing extra reviews. He's a great guy who wants his students to succeed!
Take this class if you are a hard worker but it requires a lot. He didn't explain things very well and I got most of my understaning from just reading the book.
Very hard to understand, a very bad choice to choose this class. painful to sit through whole hour in his class. Study your own book.
I believe Dr. Peters is an under rated instructor. He has epistemological knowledge. He always graded tests and quizzes in time to return them to students for the next class. The main reason why his class wasn't very easy is because calculus is not always very easy. You can take a graphing calculator to his calc tests.
He is very hard to listen to because he gets lost during his examples, making the complete problem confusing. Maybe lower division courses are better to take from him, but for 2280 I would look for someone else to learn from.
This was supposed to be an intermediate math course and it felt like I was in math 1050! He is too smart and is HORRIBLE at explaining... don't take his online class!! You will be very confused and it's a waste of time! Take a live class with a different professor!!
It may not seem fair to rate a professor only 3 weeks into the semester, but I am so frustrated! I am taking an online class from him and things are clear as mud. I have taken most of my college courses online, so I am familiar with the set up, and possible hang ups with online courses. Emailed questions are answered by a copy and paste of syllabus
I believe that Dr. Peters is a good guy. That being said, he is not a good teacher. He somehow turns easy concepts into complicated ones. He skips steps all the time and doesn't explain what he doing. Homework problems are completely different than quiz and test problems. I'd recommend not taking any math from him!
Attend class and you won't need a textbook. Don't need to attend every class. Peters grades fairly. Class is not hard if you make an effort.
He is unclear in his teachings and often gets lost in his own examples and then makes it a point to figure out his mistakes while you sit and watch. He is very smart but is not a good teacher. He would often come to class a few minutes late.
I did not like this teacher at all. He went too fast and did not explain well. He would get mad if you did not understand and was impatient. He did not cover everything well and still put it on the final. I am very angry!!!
This professor has good intentions, but doesn't know how to execute different teaching methods depending on individual students. If you go to him for one-on-one help, then prepare to feel stupid. He makes you feel insignificant. He shows up to class unprepared and makes mistakes on examples. Class test average was 65-75% and he doesn't curve.
His midterms were pretty reasonable but come the final you better be prepaired because that thing was impossible. If your a lazy student don't take this class if your a student who works hard to understand things then you'll do just fine. but really you do work pretty hard for his A. the hardest post chapter Q's are on tests and quizzes guaranteed.
Math 1050 is going to be a hard class no matter what teacher you have. He explained things well and was always willing to work with students and answer any questions they had.
He was a good professor, much better with communication and expectations than another Math professor I had.
Professor Peters knows math very well. His only problem is he thinks everyone in the class knows it as well as he does. Meaning he knows math I just dont think he know how to teach math to someone in the 50 minutes allowed for class. He does not make you turn in homework but there are quizzes every Friday and he only gives 3 tests 10 problems each
Every week we got 2-3 assignments with around 60 problems each, I didn't do them all I just didn't have time, and I didn't do to good at all. I went to class every time for the first half of the semester and I actually did better when I skipped it because the way he taught was just so fast and confusing that I left even more confused than before.
Dr. Peters was great! I actually enjoyed going to class. He teaches straight out of the book, but makes it a lot easier to understand what it's trying to say. It was kind of hard to get a great grade in the class. There's a 2-question quiz every Friday. Three 10 question tests, and one 1415 question final. He was good at reviewing and answering ?s
Very knowledgeable professor; homework isn't graded, but is reviewed for questions at the beginning of each class. If you do the homework, you'll pass the quizzes (2 questions on Friday); exams are difficult but not impossible; work with a tutor if needed. Goes a bit quickly, so take fast notes. Helpful to students with questions; grades fairly
Don't try to ask questions because he WILL make you feel like a complete moron and say things such as "it's so easy, the answer is obvious" in his frustration for the class having confusion on some topics, he will slam the chalk on the board and break numerous pieces during class. I highly don't recommend taking math from him, at least not 1050.
He is very knowledgeable, but he does not have a good teaching style that would allow you to learn the material. He does not answer questions that he feels is not relevant and makes you feel stupid for asking him to explain the problem. He writes the test problems in ways that it does not look like problems you practice from the book or in class.
An extremely difficult class I am studying 6 hours a day just to get a c in this class. lots of homework. what he teaches does not match the quizzes or the tests.
Don't Take the online course with this teacher. The second exam and the final exam most of the Questions don't add up to what you have been studying. Quizzes are simple because they go along with the book and homework problems, but the tests are something different. Take the online from any other professor.
I personally liked his class. His style is like any other math class, that is examples in class, do the homework, and take the test. He was always ready to answer a question and was easy to get a hold of should you have questions. Grading is based solely off quizzes and tests and he'll drop your lowest test score based on your final test score.
Professor Peter was very helpful. I took this class online and the schedule was pretty lenient. Just make sure you don't miss a quiz. Study guides are provided for the exams, and he returns them to you after grading to use as a study guide for the final. There are a total of 3 exam, use the first two exams to study for the final.
Took forever to email back. Questions on the exams do not match exactly what is on the HW and quizes. Does not tell you what you did wrong on the exams to let you know what you need to work on. I was getting questions that were not even in the HW or on the quizes. I have to retake this class.... Do not take it from Peters!
Responds quickly to emails. There are 3 tests and 7 quizzes, doing the practice exams will help you prepare for the tests. Professor Peters also emails a copy of your corrected tests so you can see what you missed and use them to study for the final. Class pace is very manageable. Do the homework & study plan problems and you can pass this class.
Peters is a very good teacher.
Avoid this Professor at all times. I am not convinced that he knows statistics. He does not teach, at all. He reads from the book and struggles reading the content. When requesting to clarify something he goes on an unrelated tangent. Weekly quizzes, 3 exams, and comp final all in testing center. If you can take it from someone else, do it!
Mr Peters needs to assign homework problems. Homework is not turned in; however, he doesn't let you know what is expected. A quiz at the end of the week counts for homework, so what you learn on Thursday is on the quiz on Thursday. His lectues have no beringing on the tests or quizzes. Be prepared to read your textbook and do every problem.
I enjoyed taking this course from Prof. Peters. I have heard negative things from this Professor but I really liked him. He doesn't grade homework, but everyday a section from the book is assigned. He goes over homework questions the next day so make sure to actually do the work, you'll need the practice. There is a quiz every Friday.
Absolutely worst math professor I've ever had. My high school Calculus teacher taught me more than this lunatic. Quizzes every single Friday, that have nothing to do with the material covered in class. 15 problems of homework every day, including weekends. Practice tests don't cover a single problem of what is on the actual test.
I took an online class from Dr. Peters thinking that I would be able to learn most things from the book and I did. However at the end of the semester found out that all the homework I had been doing, which had due dates, didn't even count toward my final grade. Because that homework wasn't counted I dropped a full letter grade.
For the love of everything, avoid him if you can. Processor Peters isn't a great instructor. He is an extremely tough grader and doesn't explain concepts well. There are 3 exams and a final. Also, weekly quizzes. He is big on showing work and if there is any mistake in your work regardless if the answer is right, you'll be docked for it.
I took 1060 from him and he isn't a great instructor. He is not consistent on any of his grading. There are weekly quizzes, 3 tests, and a final. He does not care about homework at all. If you take it from him buy the solutions manual and get a tutor! Also, doesn't really help when you go into his office hours asking for clarification or help.
If you do everything right process wise on a quiz or test but you messed up anywhere during the process expect half credit taken off. No matter small the mistake. Prof. has had his phone on multiple times during lecture and let's it go off while never muting it. Once it went of more than 20 times during class
Mr. Peters knows math but that doesn't make him a great professor. He teaches straight from the book with no notes or organization. He adds his own material, which is not in the book, and tests on it. Making it so there is no way of using the book to practice what he tests on. He gets sidetracked easily and so the lectures are pointless.
Reads straight from the textbook. No credit for homework but just basically expects you to do all the problems from the section anyways. This is to prepare for the weekly quizzes on 2 sections. Quizzes in complicated format than from class. Get a tutor, do problems every night. Asking questions in class or office hours won't help.
Honestly, the worst professor that I have ever had. He doesn't teach. He goes about the class as if this is a review instead of him teaching us. He doesn't explain the "why" of things. When you ask for him to do a problem that he finds easy, he will say that it is too easy and that its not a good question, and does one much more complicated.
If you take this class be prepare to be on your own. Professor take forever to answer your question through email. Many homework every week. 2 topics every week. only 2 midterm and 1 final should be done at a testing center. Quizzes are not timed and tests are open book, this is an advantage. Calculator is allowed on the test.
Learning is strictly by the textbook or video lecture examples. Easy class if you have a pretty good understanding of basic math concepts. No homework required just quizzes and 3 tests. He gives you example tests to review that mirror the actual tests which made it easy to get a good grade on tests. Overall not the hardest math class I've taken.
Self-guided. I never needed to contact the instructor. If you can work well on your own and complete the assigned homework, you will be fine. If you need constant feedback, this isn't a great option. Fair grading on exams and partial credit. A shame that WSU charges the same for this class v. in-person lecture based class, plus access code charge.
If you want to spend hours and hours on you-tube trying to figure out math then this is the professor for you. This worthless excuse of a professor makes Weber State University look like a joke. Don't bother trying to get math tutoring you will wait hours on end and not get any help. Good job WSU at upholding the reputation of a crappy math dept.
Hey you Yes you. I have been in your position before. I thought to myself "well he can't be THAT bad right?" I was totally wrong. If you have any other options to take another class, I would. Don't get me wrong, Proffessor Peters means well. Half of the time he sounds like he is yelling, and the other half he acts like he is reviewing new concepts
He's bad. He's very unorganized, will spend a lot of class time trying to figure out what he did in his notes. You'll have to learn the class on your own. On the take home final there were 4 mistakes - things like misquoting textbook formulas, sentences running off the page so you can't read them, etc. Other exams and practice exams had typos too.
You have 3 tests, (2 exams, 1 final) and 8 quizzes(7 used for your grade,1 dropped). 500 Points total for the class (100 for EACH exam, 100 for the quizzes, 200 for the final)Homework is optional, not included in grade. Study the example exams he gives before the real exams! I worked a full-time job and still passed. I would recommend this class.
I have taken multiple courses form Dr. Peters such as Math 1060,1210, and 2250. I would only recommend him if you no other option. The material he teaches is not hard to learn. He ask way too much for a 30 min quiz and is very unclear what he is asking on said quizzes. His two-hours exams are really four hours to complete it.
I took Peters' online 1030 and while the content is not terribly difficult, you are essentially on your own for the class. I emailed him and sent him messages on canvas throughout the semester, he responded once a month after the email that he was responding to, the rest got ignored. Exams are a joke and the feedback and grading are vague.
Professor was pretty much unavailable for questions. The course was online and myself and several other students sent him emails with zero response. No real outline of course material to align with tests and quizzes.
Professor Peter's is obviously very knowledgeable, but he is not good at conveying information to students. Tests and quizzes are your entire grade. He does not assign official homework, so you have to figure out what to look at. Class is do-able, but was not a walk in the park. You will definitely have to work for your grade.
If you have ANY questions, don't expect to get an answer. Dr. Peters was completely unavailable my whole semester. Because he failed to respond to emails and answer questions, I had a huge issue with my proctor situation. He didn't dock me for a late exam, but the lack of communication was a huge hassle. This class was a nightmare.
I know what youre thinking! All these reviews are just peeps overreacting? That's what I thought. NOPE DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. Peters doesn't take your questions seriously. He over explain and makes easy concepts complicated. His grading is totally random. It's almost like he grades like " Oh a point here and a point there" NO CONSISTENCY! Dont do it
This has by far been the worst teacher I have ever had. All my classmates would agree with me. The teacher has no communications and take's weeks for him to grade a single assignment or test and upload it. The calendar just shows due dates for quizzes, not homework or tests. The material for the assignments isn't the same that is on the tests.
Very interesting class however the professor refusing to actually go throw problems. He will ask if there are any hw questions and if you don't have a very specific question he will give you a general idea. He will say "I don't want to go through it". There are minimal outside resources that do things the way he wants them.
If you need someone to explain things, this is not the guy. We used a mathlab application for assignments which gives a 2 minute introduction video on the topic and then you are left to figure it out on your own. I should have paid Youtube the tuition because that's what I used to learn the content. Also his instructions require Rosetta Stone.
I've had Peters for two classes and he is not fit to be a professor. he is rude to students and he expects you to be an expert on all your previous math classes so expect no reviews on older materials. And when you ask for help he gives you vague responses. For 3710 the book and offline give you no help the subject is more for grad students.
Ungraded homework, even if you do it you won't pass, you gotta study super hard. Some of my other grades tanked because of how much time I had to spend on this class.
This is summary of prof peters Explains material in an unnecessarily elaborate way. Doesn't listen to students' questions. Ive asked for help and he's responded. "that question isn't quite interesting enough" horrible teacher-assumes you know the material his quizzes include problems that we don't cover waste of time professor peters class
his class is a waste of time. He is a horrible professor, doesn't communicate with students, doesn't teach his material clearly, uses large words to sound educated, writes down formulas on the board without explaining, doesn't answer questions. I would compare this class to taking a math class from a monkey. I left class every day with questions.
Dr. Peters is a horrible teacher. He loves to smell his own farts in class and say things like, "now obviously we can see that.." when we are in differential equations. He has no plan at all for lessons and wastes half of the class period flipping through his book looking for problems to do. He won't answer questions if they aren't "interesting."
At the beginning of the semester he even told the class that he could switch to online for covid, and despite the majority of the class wanting to be online, he still held class in person and posted bad quality recordings that didnt allow you to read the board. even if you did go he was very disorganized and often quite rude to students.
He was the only professor available for Online Math 1030 and I wish I wouldve read the reviews on him because I wouldve taken something else. The is less than a MONTH until the school year ends and I have yet to receive a grade, neither have my classmates. The tests and quizzes are nothing like the assignments. Take a different class!!!
I do not recommend this professor. He has not given me a grade yet and there is only 1 month until the semester ends. He is extremely difficult and the textbook does not help with the exams and quizzes. The assignments do not help when taking the quizzes either. Do not take this class with this professor. If I could go back, I wouldve taken 1050.
I really like how organized he was and how he reviewed past material quite a bit. He will show many examples and explain step by step for each of them. That kind of repetition helped me understand the math so much better. He's hard to talk to, but I did well just listening. His style clicks for me.
the course is through Pearson, no homework required but quizzes and tests are. One signature assignment. You will never be able to communicate with him, he will never respond to you. Only open 1 day for the exams. 100% essay questions for exams. No lectures, nothing. And grades horribly. Feedbacks are awful.
The way that this course is laid out is ludicrous. Sending you from a site used by all teachers in the school to their online book. The real kicker is that the teacher refuses to update ANY assignments onto the proper channels so you know what you have to do. One of the worst experiences Ive had thus far.
He took so long to grade, never posted them on canvas. He was almost impossible to get a hold of. No lectures or any help with the material.
Dr. Peter's was a bit vague & short when responding to any questions via email but he responds in a timely manner. There were many complaints on our class discussion board about the lack of lectures from him (there are none) and the course is very much self taught. Exams must be taken in the testing centers which is annoying in covid times.
Listen, youre probably reading the reviews and hoping to give the professor the benefit of the doubt. It cant be that bad, right? Wrong. This class was so hard. I took it online, and basically the homework doesnt matter. Its not a part of your grade, and the format didnt apply to the test. Teacher was hard to communicate with. Dont take it.
Dr. Peters is clearly very knowledgeable about what he teaches, but he also very clearly does not care if you are struggling in class. He has two-question quizzes at the end of each week. He does not use canvas or post grades, so grade calculation must be done by hand.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE!!! You can barely see the board in his lectures. He doesnt communicate well at all, and Ive never struggled so much in a math class before
I have a lot to say n a character limit. the course was confusing, told u to go to peterson lab, implied that you learn via the lab n textbook, i didnt even know he had lectures on canvas till march. hard to get any information from him, nothing he does is transparent n everypart of this class is confusing. o7 to who decides to take this class.
He just does example problems basically the whole time, which is not a good way to approach teaching complex math. He often put calculus 2 integration techniques (namely IBP) on tests and quizzes when he didn't have to. Quizzes every week 25 pts each, he takes the best 8. 3 exams: 100 pts each. Comprehensive final: 200 pts. Doesn't post any grades.
This teacher uses Pearson for his online teaching, ends up being completely different from what the quizzes ask you. Plan on spending 2+ hours on 15 question quizzes if you plan on passing. Google taught me more than the textbook, which is very confusing and complicated. He grades by correct answers AND the work done to get the answers on Exams.
Would recommend you look for a different math professor. He doesn't update grades so you never know where you stand in the class unless you hold on to every quiz/exam he gives you and calculate your grade yourself. Also, he records his lectures with an old iPad and uses the front camera so you can't even make out what he's writing on the board.
I really don't mind his class; it's set up well. He just makes you feel like a complete idiot sometimes for not understanding the material. It's so hard to communicate and ask questions. He doesn't explain how he gets from point A to point B very well because he assumes you already understand what he did or why he did what he did.
I wish I hadn't taken this class. The videos are horrible quality and barely follow along with the online course schedule, the bi-weekly quizzes barely seem to match with the test questions, and at this point I'm basically teaching myself and idk what I'm supposed to learn. I've emailed him a lot and have yet to receive a response or even a grade.
I see tons of complaints about Dr. Peters so I came to defend his honor! While I did struggle with this class, and the scores are not uploaded on canvas, His in person lectures are dense and followable and I found if I took mucho mucho notes every lecture, the online recordings make more sense. Staying 5 minutes late to get clarity goes a long way!
Alright listen. The reviews already on here make him out to sound terrible but he genuinely isn't. His lectures can be dense but understandable if you work for it. There's literally zero homework which might be a plus for some, only a 2 question test every week. Seriously not the worst math class I've ever taken. Not the best, but not the worst.
I took math 1030 online and it was not as bad as what most reviews stated. The tests were not fairly easy but also not extremely difficult. It just required a lot of practices.
By far the worst professor I've had in any school. He doesn't care if you pass, doesn't grade, doesn't give feedback, gets angry at students for asking questions, and seems bitter at all times. But still, the class is passable. Show up daily, take notes, get a study group, watch YouTube, and do ALL the odd questions from assigned chapters.
Seems knowledgeable in the subject and theory and goes over solns for tests and quizzes, which helps. Doesn't post grades online at all, so you'll have to keep track of your scores yourself. HW is not graded, but only way prepare for weekly quizzes and tests. Recorded lectures are way too compressed, so don't ever miss class. Find a study group.
I am typically very good at math but I absolutely BOMBED this course! There was no real instruction or help, read the text book, do the homework, take the exam. There were lecture videos available but from a different semester and most did not match the work.I don't doubt the learning environment would have been better in person. Don't take online!
Doesn't teach at all, and posts videos from past years that don't even focus on what he wants us to learn. Homework isn't graded so your only points come from quizzes and tests. He judges you on how well you show your work, so if the work you show doesn't make sense to him, he will mark it wrong even if the answer is right. Not a good teacher
I did not enjoy this professors class. He was rude when I asked him questions in regards to his grading which was discussed in his syllabus, which in my opinion was very confusing. He cut me off mid- question and was very broad with his statements.
Taking courses with this professor was some of the worst experiences I've had in college. The professor typically seems unprepared for class - he reads and writes things on the board, verbatim from the textbook. When questions are asked, he is vague. He rarely posts thing on the Canvas course shell. He doesn't put in grades often. Can't recommend.
Professor Peters is quite a challenge with Calculus II. The subject itself is already complicated which makes the situation hard. Would not recommend this professor if you do not have a strong foundation in calculus. You will have to do a lot of independent studying. 50 minutes is NOT enough time to cover a lesson in-depth.
Professor Peters isn't much of a teacher and more of an instructor. Expect hard quizzes and hard exams, your grade is based solely on those. He will use problems from the textbook that he has never discussed and expect you to know it. Also he will give you a quiz even if there is a break or holiday. Good luck.
Does not respond to emails or questions.
no feedback on exams. ur graded on 4 assignments signature assignment, exam 1 & 2, and a combined score of your quizzes. this class is impossible to pass and i'm shocked he still works here. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FROM HIM!
He barely looked up from his textbook and still managed to get all of his answers wrong. You can never see your final test grade either because he ghosts you after the class. Awful teacher
I took his online class. I had to teach myself entirely. The semester ended one month ago and I still never received the actual score for my final.
There's no teaching in this class. He just reads the textbook and expects everyone to understand it perfectly. When the first exam came back with a class average of 65%, a student asked whether he believed there was an issue with the students or with the teaching. He said that it was an issue with the students. No resources outside of class either.
Never looks away from the textbook. Refuses to work around work schedules; if he decides to schedule a test during working hours, don't expect to have any leniency given in order to actually be able to take the test. Very confusing teaching style, yet expects you to already know the information.
Doesn't post the grades online or any material, so make sure you show up. Every review for quizzes/tests don't actually review for what he puts on there. Follows the book very closely. Gets snappy when questions are asked and when asked if he can go over something for review for a quiz/test he will refuse. Doesn't even look at avg scores.
Peters is an infamously abysmal professor. Everybody in the math tutoring center knows him and hates him. He does curve your grade at the end of the semester, which is nice. After the final I went from a C to an A-, which is insane. If he's the only professor that fits in your schedule, consider taking the class a different semester.
The class was tough, but using unstuck AI and the course textbook helped me stay on top of the material. The online format made it challenging, but I managed to pull through with a solid grade.
Dr. Peters was not my favorite professor. He seemed to go over everything so quickly and I was too afraid to ask him for clarifications. Also, he made so many mistakes, I started to wonder whether he knew what he was doing. There was a quiz every week that needed to be taken in the testing center, and I rarely felt prepared for them.
He's not the best, but he isn't the worst. He doesn't do online stuff if you're an in person class so you can't see grades online. Homework is due nearly everyday, but not all of it is graded. There is a quiz at the end of every week as well. If you study on your own time and do extra hw problems or get tutoring you will do just fine in his class.
Does not post grades at all until the semester ends. You have to track everything yourself. Not much communication whatsoever. Mr. Peters is not a good professor and is often more focused on birds than students.
This professor is actually really good, and has a bad score because of midwit undergrad students taking his class for gen ed math. If you are serious about learning math, you will do well. If you are bad at math, consider dropping out of college. I actually really liked his structure of no homework with a weekly quiz.
Professor was willing to delete in dates for me. Other than that though he was absent throughout the class. I don't know what I expected from a online math class because the last one I had was even worse #brendaacor
