Easy teach and cool
Easy A . just take notes and show up. no studing req.
Great GE course about jazz. Professor is awesome! Highly recommended!
Best Prof. around. This class will change your life and your music. A+++++++++++
A great teacher who goes above and beyond
His quizzes are VERY hard even if you read the material!! The Tests are also not easy, many ppl got D's! Its supposed to be music, not math! He is a nice guy though!
Lern to enjoy jazz. James is the bomb. Great class!!
Very easy class. He is funny.
Very easy class. Come to every class and you get 20 extra points! He gives about 10 quizzes, need to study. He gives a lot of chance for you to get extra credits by going to concerts. The final need memorize 20 songs to know the song's name and composer.
This teacher has so much fun teaching jazz that he'll put a smile on your face. Absolutely fabulous class thanks to his humorous enthusiasm. Gives tons of extra credit.
EASY CLASS! His enthusiasm and corny jokes make the class fun and interesting.
Best music class I've seen so far. knows what he's talking about. fun class
Coolest instructor!! only 2 concert reports!! Lots of extra credits!!!
What else can I add that has not already been said? An informative, knowledgeable teacher with an enormous amount of chops and real-world jazz experience. Since he's a musician, it's likely that you'll attend one of his concerts during the semester.
good teacher, not hard, all u have to do is make sure you do your work... doesnt grade own assignemtns, has a grader... ez if u do the work... no study, just pay attention
great teacher. passion for music and easy, easy class! definately recommended it.
great class.... professor loves music

He's a fun teacher. He really wants you to appreciate classical music and most who come out do! Be sure to copy all the notes on the board and study them, and you'll get an A.
he almost hands you an A....most of the basketball and football team take him....lots of extra credit oppotunities.....two concert reports anda reasearch paper(easy)....just do the work and u will get and A....u start the class of with 20 bonus points
Take his class....he's easy.. he just gives a quiz at the end of every chapter but it's not that hard.. you can get more than 100 percent his class.. you have to be in class all the time because he grades attendance.
best music teacher ever. Quizes are easy, but tests are hard...1 paper, and 2 concert reviews makes up for the test. Best class...recomend to take!
Cool ass teacher. I learned alot without having to do any work. Recommend taking his class. 2 concert reports 1-2 page, and 1 album review.
easiest and the best teacher ever! He grades hella easy and the quizzes and tests are pretty easy too. By the way he is hillarious as well. Ill recommend him to everyone..
Class is rediculously easy. Write 2 papers... pretty much about anything you want. Attend a jazz concert or two. Offers a ton of extra credit. If you don't get an A it is seriously your own fault. Very fun teacher too.
Look, if you want to pass an easy class over the summer with an A or B, take this class. it's not worth it staying in it for 16 weeks. Take it oer the Summer, he is easy and a great teacher.
Terribly stuck up full of**** teacher. So annoying as a person, not worth the easy grade even! If you are not the one of the seventeen year old with nothing between their ears you must take my advise and not put your poor brain through this garbage!
easy A.
Professor Romeo is a good teacher, you watch movies in class, take notes, and remember the music he plays in class, you will be tested on it!
3 concert reports, 2 exams, and final. No text book and no homework, but I learned a lot! However, his exams have some comfusing questions. So, don't hesitate. Just ask him during exams.
This class is an easy A. Probably one of the best professors I've had yet. His class was alright. You get to listen to a lot of music, watch movies, listen to his stories and take notes. The test are easy. Just study notes cause there is no textbook.
The best teacher ever, he makes you want to go to class I would be laughing the whole time!!! Take him if you can it's super easy and fun
take him, only if you can handle his sexual and racial jokes. one day he even told us a story that he went to a prom with an amish girl in his band, and he found her attractive because she had big "eqipment"in side of her traditional cloth. then
He is the best prof. ever! You are missing out if you don't take his jazz class. His jokes and examples are all relevant to music and human nature so don't listen to the second from last comment --it's full of SH***T. Great class, great prof.
Good teacher. Do the work, there isn't a lot of it. Should be an easy A-B and he is a pretty entertaining lecturer.
****, got an A, hated the class, was good at times but he is really an **** if you talk to him one on one
the best teacher ever. he makes this class so fun and gives music a "life". take it!!!!
I really enjoyed the class. He's a good teacher. He's got a sense of humor and tries to make the class fun for his students. I really enjoyed listening to the music he played. Not a hard class to get an A in. Take him.
This teacher seems to be slightly over rated. Hes not that helpful and lost 2 of my reports. I really enjoy classical music, but i blame the FRIDAY class for this, since he didnt show up like twice, and 2 other holidays on fridays, we got slammed, DONT TAKE ON FRIDAYS!
He's funny and precise in his knowledge. Very passionate about getting the student to see music through his eyes. Never spoke to him one on one so he might be a dick, but does it matter towards the grade? Not really. The class was very cool. I'd do it again.
i liked being in his class alot.... most of the time we just listened to jazz music... highly recommended . very helpful professor.
Good class. Easy, but actually learned a lot. He's not too friendly though. Kind of short with people. Loves music and teaching. Lots of experience, very qualified.
What a jerk.He is so full of himself, and shows himself off.Try talking to him one-on-one, and you will regret it.Tests are relatively easy, but it is NOT worth it!I couldn't wait for the class to end.Don't come in late, he hates it.I dunno what these people are talking about, this guy sucked.
Romeo is a cool musician. I don't think he is a good teacher seiously, but supar easy A giver. Extra credits worth almost 85%! Yeah, he is jerk & mean, so what he just want to play music not teach. So, cool down, just sit in the clasroom, listen his jokes& music , and he's gonna give you A.
Easy class, just show up. Tests you on his own philosophies about music...who does he think he is, Aristotle?
I absolutely loved him! Not only a great teacher, but a great person. His class is easy because it's so interesting....and you still learn a lot. He is extremely fair and I don't have enough good things to say about him. He preps you for the tests and reminds you about deadlines. Tons of extra credit. Highly recommended, you wont regret it!!
this guy is not interested in teaching to non-music majors and it shows. he thinks he's the cats meow and doesn't remember any of his non music students outside the classroom, as if they don't exist. oh, and how 'bout the extra credit opps for attending his side gigs?! that should be illegal!
he's ok required to do three concert reports two reasearch papers sometimes boring plays music and watch videos no need for book teaches of his knowledge easy class but stay focus on hints about testes if i got an A you can tOo lol
Extremely easy. This guy really does help you actually listen to music. The assignments are fun because you have to go to concerts which i had no problems with.
Cool guy, fun class. Loved it...
great class, very easy and interesting. only problem i have is the mandatory concerts. i think they were important for the class, but there should have been an alternative. I worked nights all week and weekend and i couldnt make many concerts, effecting my
fun class and very interesting. rarely boring at all. u do concert reports and the tests are easy. take him, he's got a great sense of humor.
I took his other classes before, but his jazz class is the best. He could be mean to you if you're a slacker. but if you show motivation to learn or interests in music, then he will care about you so much. Once I didn't understand something and asked him about that, he spent time to explain for me after class. He has a passion for Jazz!

Good job overall. He covers a lot of material, but keeps it simple enough to understand for an introductory course. The passion for what he teaches shines through in his enthusiastic approach.
Really cool guy, and easy. When through the class without a book. Study your notes for tests.
Romeo is a pretty easy professor. I didn't even buy a textbook and still got an A in the class. He makes class interesting and I certainly enjoyed him. Recommended.
Out of a 450 point class gives 225 extra credit. Coolest guy in the music deparment.
One of the easiest classes EVER. I cant believe this is a college class. He is a decent guy, but the class is boring as hell. If you need to take a music class, this would be your best choice. If you do not get an A, then you have issues. No need for a text book. No need for anything except incredible patience.
the best teacher i ever had in mesa college, he is very understanding and compassionate, easy test
sign in sheet, 3 concert reports, 3 tests. cool guy bonus points for attendence. If you go to class and listen jot down his key notes gurantee A.
Good, fun, easy. He's up their for his own enjoyment so it makes class a breeze.
Fantastic class. His lectures are NOT boring if you like music at all. He is very easy, and funny. Just write down what he writes down and you will be fine. No need for a book. If you just need a music requirement, TAKE THIS CLASS. So easy, and really fun.
Easy class, but I can't stand the guy. If you impress him with your broad knowledge of music and make him remember your face (ahem kiss ass ahem), guarrenteed A. Unfortunatly that wasn't me. It was still ridiculously easy though.
This is one of the best professors I have ever had. He makes class fun! You have concert reports to do throughout the semester but if you are into the class than you will enjoy going to hear some music. I look forward to taking another class with him in the future.
Yes, I did get an F even though it was easy but it was basically because I couldn't stand this guy so I stopped going toward the end though I attended most of the classes. A direct quotation from him when one of the students in the class said he should play with their band sometime "I don't take my trumpet out of its case for less than $100" And
LOVES HIS MUSIC AND REALLY WANTS YOU TO FEEL IT. The class was easy, offers extra credit and he picks out great pieces to listen to. Enjoy!
Easy class and no textbook required (making attendence necessary). Romeo can be a prick, but in the end its well worth it. I walked away from the class with a new appreciation and understanding of jazz music.
Easy A Class, never used the book. Just listen and take notes on his lectures. Make sure you write down all the songs and artists, it will be helpful for the midterms.
Chillest guy ever. No textbook required and tests are easy; the only hard thing is getting to a jazz concert for a report( but they're dope anyway.) He jokes around all day, plays movies from time to time, and best of all bumps bomb music. First day he hit up Tribe Called Quest, enough said.
Easy class if you pay attention and want to learn. Very passionate about jazz music, and really wants you to understand the history and importance of it. Has a good sense of humor that can be ridiculously cheesy at times, but the old jazz stories are great. I don't see how anyone can say anything bad about Romeo's class.
Pretty easy class as long as you come to class every day and do your work on time. He gives a lot of chances for extra credit.
This class is amazing. Romeo might seem a little intimidating but he's really funny and he can be helpful too. It says concert band but it's actually a pep band and we have so much fun!
Gny Romeo wont tell you this but he played in the Marine Corps band for the President! If you are a Marine... take this class... and introduce yourself!
Great teacher. No txt, just notes. Tells lots of relevant stories. Very intelligent man that makes jazz the opposite of boring. I took his jazz history and composition class for a GE requirement and now I feel I can appreciate. It. I highly recomend this teacher.
I took the 5-week class during the summer, which was 2.5 hours a day, Monday - Thursday. Mr. Romeo definitely knows his stuff about music. There are plenty of youtube videos or movies played in class that are very fun and informative to watch! No textbook to use! Just be sure to attend class everyday, you need it for your grade!
A great teacher to take for jazz history. He's straight forward, helpful, honest and definitely a fun person to be around. He has his times where he thinks he's funny (and laughs at himself), but other than that there's no problem with him. One things for sure is that you will learn a lot in his class. :) And the reports are fun too! :D
Wow! I didn't think that World Music would be so interesting. He can tell if you're trying and is very helpful if you ask. What a great way to spend the summer! Ooh Rahh!
Professor Romeo was fantastic! He gives you plenty of extra credit opportunities and the exams are easy(exactly off the notes!). I highly suggest him!He kept the class interesting and fun. So my reccomdation.....TAKE HIM :D
Mr. Romeo loves his music and knows alot about it! His class is super fun and you actually learn some stuff. Not to mention its EASY! Made finals week go A LOT easier for me. So if you want to actually learn a few things, have some fun during the semester and get an A take Romeo!! Plenty of extra credit if you're a slacker btw :)
Professor Romeo is by far the best teacher I've had. He's very passionate about his music and knows his stuff! Class is easy.. just make sure you attend class and take really good notes.
Take this class! I thought it was going to be boring, but this was fun and more interesting than I thought. I learned alot. His teaching method is definitely unique. Semper Fi!
Pretty funny guy. Kept class fun and light. Extra credit for attendance. Required 3 concert reports but I only did 2 and still got an A with extra credit and A's on test. Test are super easy as long as you study and TAKE NOTES in class.
Funny and cool teacher. Thought i was going to hate this class but turned out to be pretty interesting. Very easy class as long as you go to class and takes notes. easy A.
Great teacher. Homework consists of four jazz concert's that need to be attended. Each concert requires a two page report. Lots of extra credit to be earned. It's not hard to get an A. You will learn a lot about the subject! Take him.
You can really learn the knowledge of jazz music. He has the sense of humor. His class is interesting and well arranged. It's easy to get an A as long as you finish all the assignments and tests. You don't even need to buy any text book in this class. Just remember that you need to write down the notes in class. Highly recommend!
BEST teacher I've ever had! Went into the class hating jazz and having no interest at all. Romeo is very passionate, funny and knows how to teach in a way that everyone can connect with. Tests are exactly what he writes on the board and he gives a ton of EC opportunities. I definitely have an appreciation for jazz after taking his class
Romeo is an AMAZING professor. He is so passionate about Jazz that he sparks a passion in each of his students. He speaks from the heart rather than from a textbook which I love. Not once did I read a textbook yet I learned more about jazz than I ever thought I could. There are 4-5 concert reports (1 optional for e.c.) but other than that easy!
Such a great teacher! His class is super interesting and fun! I really really learned a lot not only about understanding and appreciating music but the social implications involved. So fun! BTW, you don't have to buy a book, you go to monthly concerts which can cost money but you can also do it free. So fun tho!
Great professor. This class was really easy if you show up and take notes. 3 concert reports and 2 tests. Also a pretty funny guy so class is never too boring. This is a must take if you want a class that wont require too much effort.
Really cool teacher! You can tell he LOVES Jazz music. The semester consisted of 3 concert reports and 3 exams.... An extra credit 5 page research paper if you need it. No textbook is required!!
nice guy and it was a fun class.romeo is kind of a nerd and sometimes goes off on tangents, but this was one of the easier and fun classes i've taken.extra credit is available.i studied flash cards i made from my class notes b4 the test and i received one of the highest grades in the class.i learned a lot and would take this class again.
Easy teacher, goes off subject very often, will talk about his personal life a lot. Easy class.
I LOVEEE HIM SOOO FAR :D
Romeo is seriously one of the coolest and most passionate musicians ive ever met. I look forwards to going to his class every single day and hearing his life stories and funny jokes! He's a bit old fashioned with his humor, but makes it even funnier :) I would recommend that anybody take any of his classes!
Romeo was a really cool guy! He's funny. He's straightforward about the notes and what he wants you to know for the tests. And the music he shares is great. Easy A.
Jazz History is an easy and fun class. Just study for the tests, attend class, and this is an easy A. Prof. Romeo is a pretty fun guy.
His passion will inspire you not only in Jazz, but perhaps in many other subjects. Most important, he's fair; I mean after his severe sickness about 2 months, he tried his best to make up for those times, and of course, the test became ... Caution: you probably need coffee most of the time you come to this class not because his teaching but music
I wish every professor was like him. Absolutely take his class. Show up, listen to jazz for an hour, go home. 2 2-pages double spaced papers on jazz concerts you attended. One EC 3 page double spaced paper and 3 tests. Thats it. Easy A and lots of fun.
Awesome teacher. Passionate, funny and high on life. Show up, enjoy the music and participate. He has a few pet-peeves, one of which is walking across the front of the class when you come in late. Treat him with respect and that respect will be reciprocated.
Professor JJ Romeo was extremely knowledgeable on his Jazz history. He has so many fantastic stories of famous musicians he has met and played with over the last 50+ years. He has a young, vibrant personality and he makes learning the material fun. I recommend having a musical background to better comprehend all of the terms that are used.
He is an overall outstanding Professor. His knowledge on Jazz History was amazing. He not only inspired me in music but on other subjects as well. He is extremely fair and will treat you with respect as long as you do the same. Three concert reports and three tests. Show up and you'll know what to do.
You'll really enjoy professor romeo's suave. He's an old, chill, guy and his humor is a mix of Italian and dad-jokes. All you do is listen to jazz tunes and learn about history/technical stuff. 3 concert reports with proof. Has some extra credit. You have to try really hard not to get an A. One time he used the exact study guide for a test! Funny
He is amazing! He makes you love life, music, and everything you do. Outstanding personality. Easy A and lots of great time. I wish I could take this class again. 3 concert reports, 3 exams. Take it! You won't regret it. You will learn a lot
AMAZING!!!!!!! Take this class! jAZZZ :) PS: also, easy A
I took this class for music but honestly learned so much about life. He has so much passion for music. He teaches through the usual lecture as well as stories sprinkled with some jokes. 3 concert reports that are no more than 2 pages and 3 exams in which he gives you study guides. Study those and you'll ace it. You'll love coming to class!
Professor Romeo is great ! His class was easy as long as you'd do the work. There are 5 writing and discussion assignments. Also each chapter has a reading and listening quiz you're given two attempts to pass them. Overall easy :)
Took this class last spring. Pretty funny dude. No previous knowledge of music required. You have to TRY to fail his class, because he makes it very easy for you.
lazy excuse of a teacher.
Prof Romeo is wonderful. His class is fun and simple. Just read the textbook, weekly quizzes and discussions. There are a few papers you need to write too, but as long as you read the book you will be fine. He's got a great sense of humor and shares more than just about jazz history but life in general.
Prof. ROMEO is very enthusiastic about JAZZ sharing tidbits to links to give a listen to & upcoming events to check out. He is approachable, understanding, and has a great sense of humor. His comments on writing assignments are meaningful and inspire you to give him your best. No way you will not do well in his class! & it will be your fav class.
Amazing professor, caring and funny. Puts effort into making his material understandable and engaging. Loves jazz so much it's contagious. Assigns 3 concert reports and gives 3 exams with a great study guide.
AMAZING easiest A I have ever gotten. There is a reading+listening quiz for all 15 chapters, 5 writing assignments-only 500 words, and 5 discussions that have a 60 word count. He post everything at the start so you can speed run it but it's a lot of reading. I finished this class technically 3 months ahead of time. He's a fun guy. Spring 16w class
