he is good. gives a lot of work but you will actually learn something in his class. he is fun and a cute lukin guy!

I appreciated how he worked so hard to keep us interested. You could tell he was tired at the end of class! He taught a lot about how to write a good paper which was important to me because I can use the techniques for the rest of my life. Thank God there was no Hamlet,poems, or interpretations,ugh

I loved this class. Only one person dropped and everyone always came to class because he made it fun and interesting. If you really want to learn take him.

English isn't my strongest side, but James made his lessons very interesting. For the first time in my life I liked coming to English class. He is very organized, explains very well, is funny as hell and still makes everybody stay focused. Do your homework,turn in your assignments on time and don't be late.You will have a good English experience

James is a wonderful teacher! I took him for both 1301 and 1302. He was always very helpful and made learning fun. He is a good teacher for students who are organized and love to learn.

The first 1301 teacher I signed up for spent her first class talking about justice and discrimination. I dropped her like hot spaghetti. I signed up for James instead. The first class I had with him he spent talking about how he'd teach us how to write essays well. He requires no book and instead uses handouts. If you want, you'll be challenged.

He is a great professor who really wants everyone to improve their writing skills. He makes learning English fun and is very helpful. No text book needed. If you make an effort you'll be able to pass his class. Very funny too!!

he's the best english teacher ever.. he's very funny and helpful. you do have to write a lot of papers and essays and he's big on grammar and punctuation but if you do the work, you'll be fine.

Do not take for a flex class, not good for a great GPA. No extra credit offered. He forgets to tell you things you need in your essays until the day the rough drafts are due. May be better in a full semester class because he does not have to cram his lectures and anecdotes. If just want to pass an english class, take him! No books!

he is an excellent professor who maintains your focus and attention. He's extremely helpful and listens to all his students. Excellent English Professor.

Prof. Rossignol is a great english teacher. Keeps the class entertained while he teaches. Attendance is key because he does cover alot each day. It is writing intensive, but he is willing to help during his office hours. He's a stickler for grammar, but it really helps. Makes english fun, and, I must say, he is a cutie. Def. recommended.

James is not the teacher to take if you have problems with writing essays. He is a very hard grader when is comes to the essays and we had atleast 6 over the semester. A good thing...he doesnt require to buy a book, he hands out a ton of copies everyday and thats what you use as your 'book.' Entertaining but hard.

Good prof. Rough but fair grader. Stickler for grammer but won't mark off for things he hasn't taught yet.

Forgot to mention in the last review, James does not use a text book, you make your own. All the handouts go in your notebook and that is your text.

James is an awesome teacher. I continue to use his techniques to this day. Do the work assigned and come to class, you will do well and take something away from the class you did not know before.

this class is very helpful!! i have learned so much, and have become a much better writer. James makes the calss pretty interesting so you are not falling asleep. i would reccommend this class to anyone!

Come to class every day! Turn in Skipper's Logs even though he only assigns about 3.. they will make or break your final grade. The lectures were engaging but we were never quizzed on them.

This teacher is tough!I enjoyed writing until I met him. You learn from him, however, you become afraid to turn in your essays after awhile! He is tough when grading your essays, and he hates when people are not in class. He is a pom pis jerk to say the least. More than half of my class dropped him and we started with 28.

I thought he was sexy. I really learned a lot from him. Yes he expects a lot from you, but HELLO your in College. I think he is the best. You will walk away from his class as a much better writer.

He made the class very interesting and challenging at the same time. It is a college course and he will not hold your hand but will provide critical and sincere input all along the way. You must give your full in order to get a good grade. Papers were challenging but not beyond my grasp. I LEARNED A GREAT DEAL and forever grateful. Good teacher!

Very interesting and moderately challenging class ? be prepared for COLLEGE LEVEL work! You must put forth your best, take what he says with a grain of salt, and apply it to your writing. Do this, and you will come out much brighter and with a good grade. I learned SO much & enjoyed his humorous presentations. Great teacher; I highly recommend!

Mr. Ressignol is the best teacher I've had. He is fun, and interesting, gets everyone to participate. He does set high standards for his students, and gives a lot of homework but I guarantee you that you will leave his class w. a lot more knowledge than you had going in. He is a devoted teacher, I def. recommend him. He doesnt req. a textbook.

Does not accept late work, gives handouts as hmwrk. most of the time. Gives good criticism on essays, you will learn tons! He makes learning fun, has a great sense of humor. He is respectable teacher, I recommend him.

Great teacher. Learned a lot from him. I can see how some student would not like his humor or style of teaching, but it worked for me. Transferring to UTSA, and wish he'd be my English professor over there to.

Professor Rossignol is enthusiastic during every class, and is more than willing to help you with any questions you may have. He is very patient and friendly, the only downside is, that he is a pretty harsh grader. The class is not easy, there is a lot of work involved. I have learned a lot that I didn't know about English from his class.

Awsome teacher, it is really hard to be in his class he is hard but very good. i learned a lot of things it is worth it to take the class but if your not good under pressure then dont recommend

grades hard. no one got higher then a b in my class. attendance mandatory. will catch you on anything sneaky you try to pull. ive talked to him once the semester was over and he gets off on catching cheaters and people try to lie to him. will drop for attendance. if u dont have rough draft 75% complete when its due he wont take final copy

He is not easy on the grades or assignments. however, with a decent amount of work and if you attend all his classes you should do fine. He was very meticulous and concise in his instructions. i would definitely recommend if you seriously want to learn how to write.

I had Professor Rossignol for English 1301. He was the best professor! I loved his class. Everything that you learned in the past is wrong! You have to write his way, or you will get a bad grade. Don't let this discourage you! You have to work for your grade though! This isn't an easy class. I'm a better writer because of his class! Great professor

He is bad dont take his class at all

Just a really great guy, very down to earth with his students. Yes, sometimes it's a bit unclear as to what he wants from you, but he expects you to THINK and put in the extra mile. That being said, I wouldn't say it's a difficult course at all. I really enjoyed his class, definitely one of my favorite professors at SAC.

I have no idea what the other reviews are talking about. He's really funny, and he is a quality teacher. He makes you write 3 essays, one in a group, and they are all pretty short. He does give a lot of papers and quizzes, but half the time, the quizzes aren't for a grade.

Mr. Rossignol is a really great teacher. He's very humorous and witty. Although he's a tough grader, you definitely learn a lot. At first I thought, "wow, everything I learned in high school was completely wrong." No, he sets standards for us, expecting us to write as 1301 students which I find great. Do what you need to do and you should pass.

Simply a great prof but he can be tough d specific with his grading. If you work hard and put the effort into your work you will pass without a problem. He does expect you to act as a college student and he truly wants to see you succeed but he wont hold your hand the whole way. I would take his class again even tho I didn't get a great grade.

People that think Rossignol is hard will be in for a shock when they transfer to a University! Prof Rossignol is a TRUE college professor who holds his students to the highest standards. You must show up for class & work for your grade. If you want to learn valuable writing skills, his class will take you there. Not a class for lazy students.

Very great professor such a sweetheart is very encouraging and knows his stuff yes you have to work but all he is trying to do is better his students and get us college ready will go out of his way to help you excel in life I really recommend him when he first introduces himself he sounds scary but really isnt hope this helps good luck

He has a passion for teaching that comes off as mean and tough. When infact he genuinely cares that his students LEARN SOMETHING. You do not need a textbook to pass his class. You need to take his homework and paper critiques seriously. PAY ATTN TO HIS LECTURES. THEY WILL PASS OR FAIL YOU.

I have taken his 1301 and 1302 English class. very strict on attendance and grading so don't expect anything less. great person and relates to his students well. he's intimidating at first but once you get to know him and his teaching style you'll love him! very sarcastic and very hilarious!

Professor Rossignols classes helped me become a better writer. If have trouble attending class, then you aught to fail any class. Seriously, sort out your priorities before you throw your away money. Rossignol offers tutoring outside of his classroom, so as long as you show up to class and put forth a little effort, youre bound to pass and LEARN.

He's a great teacher if you actually want to learn. Not rude but very straight forward. You have to truly want to learn and improve your skills. Don't take this class if you just want an easy course where you won't have to work. He grades harshly but when you see improvement, you know you've earned it. Would take this class again. Great teacher.
